[00:00:39] belt.
[00:00:40] podcast. I'm Jason.
[00:00:54] And I'm Richard and I'm Rima and this is Cobra Kai cast
[00:00:59] this week. We're covering Cobra Kai season six, episode four underdogs
[00:01:04] underdog.
[00:01:11] Did a while.
[00:01:12] Do you guys think of yourselves as underdogs?
[00:01:16] Uh,
[00:01:17] Wow. That's a good question. I think I used to, but not anymore.
[00:01:22] Now I just, my desire is to just blend into the background. So
[00:01:27] you can't be an underdog if you're not trying to do anything.
[00:01:31] Yeah, that's true.
[00:01:33] You have to have a goal and then you're the underdog for the
[00:01:35] goal.
[00:01:36] I remember I always used to root for the underdog.
[00:01:39] Me too.
[00:01:42] I did too. That's why I like karate kid.
[00:01:44] Yeah. All right. Well, let's talk about some underdogs.
[00:01:48] It's Cobra Kai scene six, episode four underdogs. Rima,
[00:01:51] do you want to read the synopsis?
[00:01:54] Yeah, sure.
[00:01:55] So synopsis for this episode is in order to determine the six fighters
[00:02:00] who will represent Miyagi-Do and the Sakai Taikai,
[00:02:03] Daniel and Johnny bring in Mike Barnes to shake down the dojo.
[00:02:07] Hawk, Robbie Miguel, Sam, Tori, Mitch, Kenny, Nate, Chris,
[00:02:11] Demetri, Devin and Anthony are chosen by Barnes for the second sound,
[00:02:15] second round. Sorry. Of eliminations. The next day,
[00:02:19] the top 12 engage in a battle royal where each student must rid another of
[00:02:23] their flags. Tori, Robbie, Sam and Miguel immediately advanced.
[00:02:28] Anthony doubts himself after receiving a bloody nose from Kenny.
[00:02:32] Johnny confronts Barnes upon learning Devin did not make the cut.
[00:02:35] The next morning Barnes has Hawk, Demetri, Devin and Kenny run through
[00:02:39] the forest and capture two flags to determine the final lineup.
[00:02:43] Devin captures the first flag after Kenny suddenly experiences diarrhea
[00:02:47] while Demetri defeats Hawk to make the team.
[00:02:50] Kenny accuses Anthony of spiking his water with Mitch's laxative when in
[00:02:54] reality it was Devin.
[00:02:56] Daniel suspects Johnny had a part in getting Devin in the lineup.
[00:03:01] Yeah, that's true. I didn't think about it that way.
[00:03:03] Yep.
[00:03:05] I was just thinking maybe Anthony will,
[00:03:09] I was thinking cause it's talking about how he felt bad about getting a
[00:03:13] bloody nose, but he also felt bad cause he got kicked out.
[00:03:17] He's not going to be in the final six, but uh,
[00:03:21] I wonder if Daniel will take him anyway,
[00:03:25] just to take him along and then somebody will get,
[00:03:30] you know, injured or something. Yeah. Or maybe if not Anthony, somebody,
[00:03:34] somebody else. Right. It's gotta be a family Larrusso vacation.
[00:03:40] I mean, you can't just, I don't know, can you just leave everybody else home?
[00:03:43] Amanda's want to go. She's going to want to go, right?
[00:03:46] There's no way I would let anybody go without me. So I would,
[00:03:50] I'd be like, yeah, we're turning this into vacation, going to Barcelona.
[00:03:54] Are you kidding?
[00:03:55] Hey, how about a prediction? I bet you they're going to go to the tournament.
[00:03:58] Everything is going to go to hell in a hand basket and then all the
[00:04:00] other kids are just going to show up. Hey, here we are.
[00:04:05] We jumped on the plane after that'd be great. Um,
[00:04:09] what'd you guys think of it? Uh, I was pretty good. You know what?
[00:04:13] I was thinking about it and I, uh, I was like super busy this week.
[00:04:17] So I only watched it once and I think my,
[00:04:19] I think my thoughts are a little on the negative side about it,
[00:04:23] but I still liked it. I mean by negative,
[00:04:25] I mean it was probably my least favorite episode of this, of the last four,
[00:04:30] but that doesn't mean much. They're all still awesome.
[00:04:33] That's true. I don't know. It just felt like,
[00:04:35] I think if I would have watched it a second time,
[00:04:37] I would have maybe changed my mind, but the drama,
[00:04:39] the drama and the conflict in it just felt a little more forced than usual
[00:04:43] to me.
[00:04:46] I think it's been a bit like that all season.
[00:04:49] It's been a little forced and like for example,
[00:04:52] crease deciding cause he had a vision in a cave that he needs to go
[00:04:57] after Johnny, you know? Um, and I think, I think,
[00:05:01] I mean it's fine, but it's a little forced.
[00:05:05] And I was thinking about it and I think so far this is probably my least
[00:05:10] favorite season. I don't know too, I'd have to watch two again, but um,
[00:05:15] I still love it. But I think because it feels like an epilogue to me,
[00:05:19] I've said that many times,
[00:05:20] like it feels like we've already had the climax of the series with Terry
[00:05:23] Silver and now this is like everybody's getting along,
[00:05:28] but now they're deciding to go to a tournament and usually the
[00:05:32] tournament or whatever they're building to has this personal stakes to it.
[00:05:37] You know, they're resolving some conflict or something.
[00:05:39] Now it's just like,
[00:05:40] let's go to this tournament cause it's going to be super cool and it is
[00:05:44] pretty cool. But I think the problem for me,
[00:05:47] and it's not much of a problem, but cause I really do mean it.
[00:05:50] I'm still loving it. It's just not my favorite is that, um,
[00:05:55] there is a personal stakes that's happening and it's between crease and Johnny,
[00:06:00] but Johnny doesn't know that, you know,
[00:06:02] Johnny doesn't even know crease is going to be there. So,
[00:06:04] and he and maybe to another degree crease and Daniel too. Um,
[00:06:09] so I think once that gets more in the center,
[00:06:12] maybe it'll amp up the juice a little bit and I'll like it more.
[00:06:16] But all that said, I liked this episode.
[00:06:17] I like it was great idea to build a whole episode around choosing this
[00:06:20] team of six to go to the tournament.
[00:06:22] Cause I didn't realize they'd be choosing the competitor so fast.
[00:06:25] I guess we should have known, but it's pretty good idea for an episode.
[00:06:28] Yeah. The pacing is good.
[00:06:29] Yeah. Remo what about you?
[00:06:32] I agree. Uh, I mean,
[00:06:34] I like the episode and I agree it feels like some of the conflict was,
[00:06:40] you know, a little forced. Um, I felt like, but again,
[00:06:43] like y'all already mentioned, it often does sometimes in the series.
[00:06:48] Um, cause we wouldn't be watching if there wasn't some of the drama,
[00:06:53] you know, um, between some of the characters. So, you know, it's like, okay,
[00:06:57] that's fine. I didn't let it bug me too much or anything.
[00:07:00] I still thought it was really great.
[00:07:01] I thought having Mike Barnes back was pretty cool. Uh,
[00:07:05] you know, getting to see some of the, the villains, you know,
[00:07:08] kind of come back and I'm glad that we didn't, you know,
[00:07:11] not see him again.
[00:07:12] I don't know if we'll see him again anymore in season six or if that's
[00:07:15] it, but I thought it was great having him back.
[00:07:19] And I think cause he was back last season and he was kind of nice at first
[00:07:26] and he, some of his asshole side came out later on,
[00:07:30] but really when you got him back in the whole karate arena,
[00:07:34] did that persona from karate kid three start to emerge?
[00:07:38] And I thought it was cool.
[00:07:40] It would kind of be a shame after watching karate kid three,
[00:07:43] not to see the bad boy of karate come back a little bit. Yeah, totally.
[00:07:47] But what was the reason? Cause that was part,
[00:07:49] I was a little confused about that. I was like, Hey,
[00:07:51] look at Barnes cause I liked his appearance last season. And then I'm like,
[00:07:54] why is it being such a dick?
[00:07:55] Was it just to like so that he and Johnny could fight?
[00:07:59] That's another forced conflict, but he said, uh,
[00:08:04] what did he say? Sorry about all this. You know,
[00:08:06] ever since you guys brought karate back into my life,
[00:08:08] I've been itching for a fight.
[00:08:10] I guess I thought it would help me recapture a sense of my power or something.
[00:08:14] And, and I mean,
[00:08:15] he also is frustrated because Terry silver burned down his business.
[00:08:19] So he's just kind of frustrated about that, I guess,
[00:08:24] but it is vague and I feel like a little bit like an excuse to have a
[00:08:28] fight.
[00:08:29] Yeah. It was pretty funny when he was looking around the dojo and he's
[00:08:32] like, this looks different since the last time I was here and then
[00:08:34] immediate flashback to him kicking Daniel's ass.
[00:08:40] That was pretty funny. I'm like, what's so, why is he so mad about that?
[00:08:43] That was a good memory.
[00:08:44] Well, it's funny because Daniel says I have a really bad idea and it's
[00:08:49] bringing Barnes back and it's so co-work high to have a bad idea and just
[00:08:54] go ahead and do it anyway, because they need fodder for conflict.
[00:08:58] And so I think this was more about Daniel than, um,
[00:09:02] then Mike Barnes because Daniel already was sort of like,
[00:09:05] it was this such a great idea.
[00:09:06] And then I feel like that was probably more Daniel's flashback.
[00:09:14] All right. So we get into our points.
[00:09:16] Yeah. Yeah.
[00:09:17] So Dmitri, how about Dmitri? My man, Dmitri, man.
[00:09:22] He's on it in this episode. He's kind of in a tough place though,
[00:09:26] right? I mean, we got his super hot girlfriend made a cameo.
[00:09:30] My God. And then she wants him to be a winner.
[00:09:34] So, but then he has this huge falling out with Hawk because he's so,
[00:09:39] he's so interested in MIT. What is he going to do?
[00:09:42] Is he going to go to the MIT and ditch his hot babe girlfriend or is he
[00:09:46] going to go to the tournament and bang on?
[00:09:52] I thought, I thought he had a pretty good story in this,
[00:09:54] but I'm sad now that Hawk and Dmitri hate each other now all of a sudden,
[00:09:58] cause I think Daniel was right. He's like told Johnny at the end.
[00:10:01] He's like, are you happy? Look Hawk all dejected on the seat.
[00:10:05] There was like, he should be in it. I think Hawk is better than Dmitri.
[00:10:09] Absolutely. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Totally. No question.
[00:10:12] The only reason Dmitri's in it is because he gave him a cheap shot.
[00:10:17] He punched him while Hawk was reaching out a hand to help him up.
[00:10:21] Yeah. He was mad though. Yeah. You don't see him mad.
[00:10:25] Well that's the thing. I mean, we're talking about conflict and we've been
[00:10:29] wondering, will there be conflict again among all the good guys because it
[00:10:33] feels like they're getting along.
[00:10:36] And we're also talking about force conflict and I feel like this is another
[00:10:40] example of force conflict because basically the conflict
[00:10:45] is that Dmitri wants both of them to go to MIT,
[00:10:49] but Hawk wants to explore other colleges. So Dmitri's pissed.
[00:10:53] And it's like, uh, really? But the whole,
[00:10:57] the whole thing with his girlfriend,
[00:10:58] Yasmin fuels it a little bit because she's inspiring him to
[00:11:04] be self-confident and try to win. Cause at first he was like,
[00:11:08] I'm not going to win. I'm not going to bother, worry about it.
[00:11:10] So that's part of it.
[00:11:11] So when you combine him being pissed off that Hawk doesn't want to go
[00:11:16] to MIT with him, which I think is really dumb and Dmitri's totally in
[00:11:19] the wrong.
[00:11:19] And with him deciding that he wants to be really aggressive and try to go
[00:11:23] to the tournament, then he made a mistake. But I mean,
[00:11:26] that's another thing about these forced conflicts and like you said,
[00:11:30] it's a bummer for these two not to get along is because when we like both
[00:11:35] people involved in conflict, then it feels bad and you just wish they'd work
[00:11:38] it out. And usually there's some element of like personal failure in
[00:11:41] there. And here I think it is just Dmitri being an
[00:11:46] ass, like not allowing Hawk to have his own path
[00:11:51] in life. And even if it means going off and doing something else without him,
[00:11:55] and also just wanting to do something for his girlfriend rather than for
[00:11:59] himself. So I think Dmitri was kind of a putz in this episode, honestly.
[00:12:03] Yeah. But also look at his girlfriend.
[00:12:07] That's another thing. I mean,
[00:12:10] we're talking about what's believable and not in this series.
[00:12:13] And I almost believe that a Cobra would make you hallucinate more than
[00:12:17] these two dating.
[00:12:21] Yeah, no, right. Yeah, it is forced. I agree totally. But this one,
[00:12:25] I didn't feel like it was as forced, I think,
[00:12:28] because this was a story arc that started like what three or four episodes
[00:12:31] ago. That mean talking about going to MIT for like the last, you know,
[00:12:35] since the beginning. And so it wasn't a surprise or anything like that.
[00:12:38] And I felt like I did feel like Hawk maybe kind of
[00:12:43] betrayed Dmitri a little bit if that's the proper term,
[00:12:46] because I mean they've been talking about doing this for,
[00:12:49] since they were little kids and Dmitri was really hurt. I kind of get that.
[00:12:53] But yeah, it does feel a little forced as does most of this episode.
[00:12:58] But well, Richard,
[00:13:00] I was really upset that you went to Long Beach and you didn't go to UC
[00:13:03] Santa Barbara. No, I'm just kidding. Yeah. See like that.
[00:13:06] You're still holding on to it.
[00:13:13] Rima what do you got?
[00:13:14] Well, I'll just add, add to that because Dmitri was,
[00:13:18] one of my points as well. And, you know, he's,
[00:13:22] he's so fueled by the,
[00:13:26] well, Yasmine obviously plays a huge part in, part of it.
[00:13:29] She's really fueled this encouragement and validation that now he feels
[00:13:34] like he's, you know, really has to try hard to,
[00:13:39] to win.
[00:13:41] And then he's also really sad about learning that,
[00:13:45] you know, Hawk doesn't or maybe anyway, doesn't want to go to MIT.
[00:13:50] He's trying to keep his options open. And, you know,
[00:13:54] I get where Dmitri might feel sad about that.
[00:13:59] And I really wish, you know, I don't think Hawk is really at fault,
[00:14:01] but I do wish he would have been a little bit more honest with him upfront.
[00:14:05] Like he should have been honest with him when they were talking about
[00:14:10] applying or whatever.
[00:14:11] And he's kept it from him all this time and allowed him to go on and on
[00:14:14] about MIT and how they're going. And I think that, that didn't help either.
[00:14:19] I think Eli probably did, or sorry, Dmitri felt a little bit of, you know,
[00:14:24] betrayal at that. So I understand that he's upset,
[00:14:28] but I don't think it was okay for him to take it as far as,
[00:14:32] you know, as what he did.
[00:14:34] So,
[00:14:35] and I wonder if there's more deep seated resentment between them
[00:14:40] somewhere. Remember when Dmitri was,
[00:14:43] I had Hawk on the ground and he had him in that arm hold. And,
[00:14:48] you know,
[00:14:48] when Hawk did that to Dmitri and he broke his arm,
[00:14:52] like when they were rivals, how many seasons ago that was.
[00:14:56] And he's like, you know, how does that feel? How does that feel?
[00:14:58] Do you like that? And I'm like, is he still hanging on to that?
[00:15:02] Cause he seemed to forgive him pretty quick. You know,
[00:15:04] they didn't really talk about it too much after they reunited and like,
[00:15:09] he forgave him and they were friends again. And it was,
[00:15:12] it was just kind of like, I forgive you. Let's move on. It's like, well,
[00:15:15] has he really forgiven him for that? Is that,
[00:15:18] cause it seemed kind of deep seated with how, cause I was like, wow,
[00:15:21] Dmitri isn't just mad. Like he's unhinged a little bit here in this.
[00:15:25] So I wonder if he's still hanging on to some of that.
[00:15:28] Yeah. Cause Hawk was so bad. I had forgotten about that, but he was,
[00:15:33] he was like psychopathic. And as he says, I was in a bad place.
[00:15:37] And it was really, yeah. He broke his arm. So yeah, that's great.
[00:15:41] I think you're totally right. I forgot.
[00:15:42] I think that was in the back of my head. Like there's something with this
[00:15:45] hold that he's doing, but it didn't, it wasn't conscious,
[00:15:48] but you're so right.
[00:15:50] Tables have turned.
[00:15:53] But I just think like I could imagine being Hawk and be like,
[00:15:58] yeah, okay. MIT cool. We'll go together.
[00:16:00] And then he says he went to this frat party and that sort of opened his
[00:16:03] eyes that, Oh, there's other options out there.
[00:16:05] Maybe I don't want to go to MIT. How am I going to tell Demetri?
[00:16:09] He's so into it. He just keeps going on. It's all, he's going to break his heart.
[00:16:12] He's going to hate me. Like I got to figure out how to tell him, you know,
[00:16:15] and just not like being like, I don't know. I don't know. What do I say?
[00:16:19] And then he did tell him, you know,
[00:16:20] it was a bit later than he probably should have,
[00:16:23] but I can totally understand that like because Demetri has been going on
[00:16:27] and on about it so much.
[00:16:28] Told them right before they go get the flags. Perfect timing.
[00:16:32] Well, that's because Demetri brought it up again. I know it was probably should have
[00:16:37] delayed just a little bit longer, but that's Cobra Kai.
[00:16:40] Yeah. And then he's like, he's like, you came to this flag and I was like,
[00:16:44] Oh yeah, huh? Cause they were planning on trying to make it together.
[00:16:47] And now, and then he was like, no, we're not going to the tournament
[00:16:49] together. I was like, man, this whole thing is just falling apart.
[00:16:54] And Hawk was still trying to be friendly with him. You know,
[00:16:57] he was upset that they weren't going together and he like tried to help him
[00:17:01] up and he's feeling bad about the whole thing.
[00:17:04] Then Demetri punches him in the face and takes the flag.
[00:17:07] And now of inferior players go into the tournament.
[00:17:12] You know, you triggered her thought, Rima.
[00:17:13] You said that Demetri was quick to forgive. Maybe he'll be that way again.
[00:17:18] Maybe he'll be remorseful and be like, Oh, I shouldn't have done that.
[00:17:21] You can go to the tournament Hawk.
[00:17:22] Yeah. Who knows?
[00:17:24] It seems like Hawks got to be in it.
[00:17:25] I doubt it just because I think they want to meet. Yeah,
[00:17:30] maybe you're right. But I feel like they want to shake things up. Right.
[00:17:34] And I think, you know, I was telling you guys,
[00:17:35] I was sort of looking at the news,
[00:17:37] but try not to get spoiled and that some people were upset about the way
[00:17:40] things went this season.
[00:17:41] And I have a feeling this might be that not the strongest team is going,
[00:17:45] you know, but I think it might be more interesting dramatically.
[00:17:50] There'll be more like underdogs going into the tournament.
[00:17:53] And then that makes it more like, Oh my God, are they going to win?
[00:17:56] You know? Yeah.
[00:17:57] Well, we, we, we three still have one more episode to go.
[00:18:00] Maybe, yeah, maybe that is a cliffhanger this time. Huh?
[00:18:03] Is that the team that's going?
[00:18:05] Yeah. Yeah.
[00:18:05] Maybe it's not the six that we think it is right now and all the listeners
[00:18:09] know it, but we don't.
[00:18:10] There's got to be a huge shakeup. I feel, I feel like they're,
[00:18:13] they're so great about always ending these on a cliffhanger.
[00:18:17] So there's got to be some big shakeup.
[00:18:19] I don't know what or anything, cause I haven't watched ahead, but,
[00:18:22] uh, I dunno, I feel like there's gotta be something there,
[00:18:25] especially after like this episode,
[00:18:27] like such a shock is like how everything turned about and who's actually,
[00:18:31] um, the six that are chosen. So everything went to shit in one episode.
[00:18:36] Maybe Johnny will enter Johnny.
[00:18:42] He did. He did kick Mike Barnes' butt. He was a national champion.
[00:18:47] That's right. Okay.
[00:18:49] Don't diss the Valley man.
[00:18:52] Don't diss the Valley. I'm going to be,
[00:18:55] do you mind? Number one underdogs. Like we said,
[00:18:58] I tend to like underdogs the little guy,
[00:19:01] the guy who has the deck stacked against him,
[00:19:03] the guy people don't think is going to win and that everyone else picks on.
[00:19:08] And like, for example, I like brand in game of Thrones.
[00:19:11] He's one of my favorite characters. If not my favorite,
[00:19:14] everyone else picks on him. Henry from the walking dead.
[00:19:18] People who watch that show know who that is,
[00:19:20] but most people probably won't and Anthony in Cobra Kai.
[00:19:24] And I think it's interesting.
[00:19:27] This episode is all about choosing this team for the tournament,
[00:19:31] but it was more focused on the underdogs because the top people,
[00:19:35] Tori, Sam, Miguel, Robbie, and we all thought Hawk
[00:19:40] are kind of the shoe ends. It's more or less known that they were going.
[00:19:44] So the drama is about who would fill in the last, well,
[00:19:47] turns out two spots. Yeah.
[00:19:49] And so everyone buying for those spots is considered the underdog.
[00:19:54] I like how Johnny and Daniel tell them all, you know,
[00:19:57] you guys think that some of you are shoe ends and some think you're
[00:20:00] underdogs, but anything can happen. And each of you has a shot.
[00:20:04] And actually Johnny and Daniel both have their lists of people who they
[00:20:07] think are going.
[00:20:11] So I think, I mean, I like that because Johnny and Daniel,
[00:20:16] you know, when you're,
[00:20:18] you want all your students to feel like they all have potential.
[00:20:20] But when you've been teaching them for a while,
[00:20:22] you know who the standouts are. So it makes sense that they would do that.
[00:20:26] But for me, the interesting part is where Johnny and Daniel disagree.
[00:20:30] Johnny wants Tori, which seems like an obvious choice.
[00:20:34] Daniel only doesn't want her because she's too Cobra Kai.
[00:20:38] And then he wants Devin who's too Eagle Fang for Daniel.
[00:20:42] And then Daniel wants Demetri and Anthony who are two totally biased picks.
[00:20:48] Anthony is his son and Demetri has been a loyal Miyagi-Do,
[00:20:52] but they're both underdogs. I mean, you could,
[00:20:56] if you were going to say who are like two underdogs in this show,
[00:21:00] you might, people might just pick those two, I think.
[00:21:02] And Daniel identifies with underdogs because he was one and Karate Kid is
[00:21:06] the story of Daniel Urso,
[00:21:09] the underdog who got bullied and came back and won the tournament.
[00:21:13] And like when he says to Anthony, look at you, hard work paying off.
[00:21:16] And he says, yeah, yeah, but no way I make it past this round.
[00:21:19] And Daniel says, I won the all Valley with less.
[00:21:22] That line is really what made me go, oh yeah. It's kind of like,
[00:21:26] he identifies with these guys more Devin, Demetri,
[00:21:30] Anthony, you know,
[00:21:32] Daniel is more like them than he is like Miguel, Tori or Sam.
[00:21:37] And Johnny was the ACE degenerate. So he's more like them.
[00:21:41] Top of the class too. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:21:43] I would kind of argue Miguel was an underdog. He's not,
[00:21:46] I don't think he is now, but I think, I think in the beginning he was.
[00:21:49] Yeah, I agree. Yeah. They've built themselves up,
[00:21:52] but Miguel was felt more like Daniel at first,
[00:21:56] but now he's kick ass. But I agree with you. Yeah.
[00:22:00] So then there's this parallel with Anthony and Daniel being underdogs.
[00:22:05] Anthony, when he's really upset about getting that bloody nose and getting
[00:22:09] eliminated says, no matter what I do, I can't win. And he,
[00:22:12] and Daniel says, aunt wind lose. It doesn't matter.
[00:22:14] You just keep doing your best and you'll have everyone's respect.
[00:22:17] And Anthony says, I just want to go home.
[00:22:19] And I love that whole sequence because it brought up well,
[00:22:23] when he says, I just want to go home.
[00:22:25] It reminded me in karate kid when Daniel gets
[00:22:29] pushed, his bike gets pushed off that. Well, I think it was Johnny, right?
[00:22:33] Pushed him down the cliff. One of them did.
[00:22:36] And he's throwing it into the dumpster as mom catches him and I hate this
[00:22:41] bike. And then, and that always makes me laugh for some reason.
[00:22:44] And then he says to his mom, all you want to hear is how great it is here.
[00:22:47] Maybe for you, but it sucks for me. I hate this place. I hate it.
[00:22:50] I want to go home. Why can't we just go back home?
[00:22:52] I think that was a deliberate callback, you know,
[00:22:54] just to feeling so, uh,
[00:22:58] hopeless and just wanting to say, fuck this, I'm out of here.
[00:23:03] Yeah. I understand that, but I had,
[00:23:07] I got a little bit angry at that scene because I mean not angry,
[00:23:11] but I was just like, come on dude, really one time.
[00:23:14] And you're going to throw a fit and go home.
[00:23:17] I mean, look at it.
[00:23:18] This kid Kenny used to beat the shit out of him and he
[00:23:23] was scared to death of this kid. And now he's at this
[00:23:28] any, any was also the kind of kid that never tried when John Daniel
[00:23:32] tried to teach him karate by teaching him wax the car.
[00:23:36] Didn't he like have someone else do it or something? I forget,
[00:23:38] but he didn't do it right.
[00:23:40] And now he's turned around and he's really giving it his all.
[00:23:43] And he's believed what his dad told him that anyone has a
[00:23:48] chance. You know, I, I won the all value with less.
[00:23:52] And then not only does he lose,
[00:23:55] but it's by getting punched in the face and bloody nose,
[00:23:58] bloody by the same kid that used to beat the shit out of them all the
[00:24:01] time. And so I agree with you. I also felt kind of annoyed with him,
[00:24:05] but when I really thought about it, if I thought,
[00:24:08] if I was in his place in that moment, I would feel the same.
[00:24:11] And I'm going to give them a lot of grace here because it's a really
[00:24:13] humiliating thing to have happen and just dispiriting thing, you know?
[00:24:18] Yeah. You're, you're a much better person than I am.
[00:24:22] I don't think it takes away from anything that you said,
[00:24:25] because I do agree with a lot of that,
[00:24:26] but before Kenny knew karate,
[00:24:30] he was the one getting picked on by Anthony.
[00:24:32] Anthony was a bully to him and picking on him all the time.
[00:24:36] And then Kenny learned to defend himself.
[00:24:39] And of course he kind of went the other way being more vengeful
[00:24:44] in not using karate for self-defense,
[00:24:46] but instead was an aggressor and then beat up Anthony.
[00:24:50] So there was that not that Anthony, you know, deserved any,
[00:24:54] anything or whatever, but just pointing that out.
[00:24:57] I forgot about that. I don't even remember that.
[00:25:00] Yeah. There was Anthony and his friends all ganging up and,
[00:25:04] and harassing Kenny and bullying him.
[00:25:08] But didn't he sort of hold back a little bit and then
[00:25:13] Kenny thought he was involved when he wasn't or something like that?
[00:25:18] I think, I don't think it was that extreme, but I could be wrong.
[00:25:21] I mean, they didn't beat him up or anything,
[00:25:23] but I know that he kind of made fun of him and, you know,
[00:25:27] harassed him.
[00:25:28] And yeah, right. That's a good point.
[00:25:30] I'd like to go back and see more of the details of that,
[00:25:34] but I, yeah, you're right. I remember now, I think, um,
[00:25:38] Anthony was kind of going along with the crowd a little bit,
[00:25:41] but he felt kind of bad about it, but still it's, you know,
[00:25:45] he still did it.
[00:25:47] But I think Kenny coming back and practically killing him.
[00:25:50] And then when Anthony tried to make it right,
[00:25:53] Kenny was still just terrorizing him. You know?
[00:25:57] Yeah. I mean, Kenny still had a chip on his shoulder and there's still
[00:26:02] tension between them too.
[00:26:04] Yeah, there is.
[00:26:05] You can see that in that scene at the school or in the hallway.
[00:26:08] Yeah.
[00:26:09] Yeah. I mean, I just think you call someone a name and then they just
[00:26:12] follow you around and beat you up repeatedly.
[00:26:14] It's a little bit lopsided. So then Daniel's saying, um, win, lose,
[00:26:18] it doesn't matter.
[00:26:19] You just keep doing your best and you'll have everyone's respect.
[00:26:22] In karate kid after Daniel Miyagi went to the Cobra Kai dojo met Crease for
[00:26:27] the first time, you know,
[00:26:29] and then they decide to settle it through this tournament between Johnny
[00:26:32] and Daniel. Daniel says, you really think I can beat that guy?
[00:26:35] Miyagi says no matter. Wacko teacher attitude, rest in fists, stupid,
[00:26:39] but fact of life. Win, lose, no matter. You make good fight, earn,
[00:26:43] respect. Then nobody bothered. And Daniel says either that or there,
[00:26:46] it'll bury me where I fall. And he says either way problem solved,
[00:26:52] but I love how, you know,
[00:26:54] that's kind of what Daniel's repeating to Anthony here, Miyagi's lessons,
[00:26:58] you know, just do your best and you'll earn everyone's respect.
[00:27:02] But of course just a Daniel didn't buy that either when Miyagi said it
[00:27:06] cause at the end of the tournament when he was injured and Miyagi was
[00:27:10] like, you already proved yourself. You don't need to go back out and fight.
[00:27:13] And Daniel's like, no,
[00:27:14] I won't have respect unless I go out and do it. So
[00:27:17] that's exactly how kids think too. Yeah, of course.
[00:27:20] And I think I would too honestly. Yeah, well we all did. It's just,
[00:27:24] I was like, I was having a little, I was having, uh,
[00:27:27] I guess a little hope that, uh,
[00:27:30] I kind of wanted to see the thing between Kenny and, uh,
[00:27:33] and Anthony go on, you know,
[00:27:34] I thought they were going to be battling for the flag. So I was like,
[00:27:37] I was a little disappointed that, you know, he's like,
[00:27:40] doesn't matter what I do. I just, I can't win. And then I'm like,
[00:27:43] it would have been much more refreshing. Cause that's such the,
[00:27:46] the thing we hear all the time with kids, you know, it'd be more like,
[00:27:49] Hey dad, you're right. I'm going to fuck them up. Yeah.
[00:27:53] Well, I think, I mean, this feels to me a lot like when I think it was,
[00:27:58] was it season three or four when, um,
[00:28:01] Daniel was really floundering and Terry silver got the best of him at
[00:28:04] that fundraiser event. Yeah. Remember? And then, uh,
[00:28:09] Amanda was all upset with Daniel and I was like, yeah,
[00:28:12] but Terry kind of egged him on. And I, I had,
[00:28:15] I felt a lot of grace for Daniel right then and knew that he would come back
[00:28:18] and redeem himself. And you guys were like, Daniel sucked.
[00:28:21] And it feels similar here, like with the Anthony,
[00:28:24] like he's at a low point, you know? And I, I, I,
[00:28:27] when he responded like that, it did make me not like him.
[00:28:31] I felt a lot of things at once,
[00:28:32] but it reminded me of his unlikable side at least,
[00:28:35] but I'm really pulling him. And honestly, when he's acting likable,
[00:28:39] he reminds me of my son, Nico. Um, it's just,
[00:28:42] there's some certain similarities about them. Uh, Nico's,
[00:28:47] he turned 13 in July and he's grown up so much in the last year.
[00:28:51] He's like a different person. His voice is actually lower than mine.
[00:28:55] So Anthony kind of reminds me of Nico now his vibe and
[00:29:00] Nico's and Kung Fu and everything. So I'm like, man,
[00:29:03] I hope he does come back and work this all out. And I think he will,
[00:29:06] I don't think they're just going to leave him stranded in this shitty moment.
[00:29:10] That was my next question. He'll, he'll be back, right?
[00:29:12] Cause the thing between him and Kenny is still kind of unresolved.
[00:29:15] Yeah. And that's kind of why I was saying maybe Daniel will take him along
[00:29:20] as a vacation to the tournament and he'll end up being in it or something.
[00:29:26] Yeah. Yeah. I think he'll be in it again. So what do we got?
[00:29:30] We got Hawk and Demetri hate each other. Kenny and Anthony hate each other.
[00:29:33] And Devin is a, Devon is like a, like a wild card, huh?
[00:29:39] After what she did.
[00:29:44] Well, that was one of my points. It's like, uh, the top four, we got Sam,
[00:29:49] Tori, Miguel and Robbie, right? They're all tight.
[00:29:52] You can't really mess with that. Can you? But they gotta be there.
[00:29:55] They got it. They're the golden ticket to this thing. You can't,
[00:29:58] there's no squibble squabble with them. I mean, if there is,
[00:30:01] you might as well not even go to the tournament, right?
[00:30:04] That's why I thought it was a little bit dumb of Barnes to come in and say,
[00:30:08] all right, we're going to play this battle Royal flag snatching competition.
[00:30:12] Cause the best flag snatchers are not the ones to go to the,
[00:30:15] you don't need to know how to snatch a flag. You need to know karate.
[00:30:19] It bothered me.
[00:30:20] Or catch a chicken.
[00:30:21] That bothered me too. Cause I'm like, if it felt like, um,
[00:30:26] it was luck based. Cause what if you did find a flag,
[00:30:30] but you didn't run into anyone else? You just happened to find the flag.
[00:30:33] I mean, that doesn't mean that you're a good fighter.
[00:30:36] So that I didn't really love that.
[00:30:37] That was the second one. Yeah.
[00:30:39] Where they had to go out and find a flag and Demetri asked,
[00:30:42] what if we both find a one at once? And he's like, you fight,
[00:30:45] but the better question would be, so if I just find one,
[00:30:48] I win cause I had good luck.
[00:30:50] But the first one was battle Royal flag snatching.
[00:30:54] So everyone had to see if you could get the most, right?
[00:30:57] Yeah. Which was equally dumb. I thought.
[00:31:01] Yeah. I didn't really actually understand any of what Barnes was doing,
[00:31:04] but I just ran with it. I'm like, Oh, try and figure it out later.
[00:31:11] Do you think they'll miss? They won't mess with the top four, right?
[00:31:15] You think there'll be any story there?
[00:31:17] Although the reason why I mentioned,
[00:31:18] I think that was dumb is because you clearly do want
[00:31:23] Tori Sam Miguel and Robbie.
[00:31:26] And so if you leave that up to this whole battle Royal flag snatching,
[00:31:31] maybe they're not good flag snatchers. What if they weren't?
[00:31:34] It turns out they were, but,
[00:31:36] and I thought it was weird that they all sort of went after each other.
[00:31:39] I'm like, no,
[00:31:40] I think the strong people would go after the weak people.
[00:31:44] You know what I mean? In the flag.
[00:31:46] That was their strategy. That's how they got in.
[00:31:49] No, that's what I'm saying. Like if you're,
[00:31:51] if you're Miguel and you want to get in and you also want Tori
[00:31:56] and Robbie and, um, Sam to get in, then you don't try to take their flags.
[00:32:00] You go after Bert and Nate.
[00:32:03] Oh, okay. Yeah. No, maybe they were, uh, behind the scenes.
[00:32:07] You like team it up on one person. You take that flag. I'll take this flag.
[00:32:13] No, they were going after each other.
[00:32:15] Like Miguel and Robbie were going after each other.
[00:32:18] And that's just what we saw on camera.
[00:32:21] Okay.
[00:32:25] This argument of mine is going nowhere. Sorry.
[00:32:30] What else, Rich?
[00:32:31] Uh, yeah, I don't, I don't know. I just, I was thinking about the top four.
[00:32:35] You can't mess with that, right? That's tight.
[00:32:37] Do you think they'll even touch that? I can't imagine.
[00:32:40] Not if they want a chance of winning. I mean, it's a,
[00:32:44] it's an international tournament.
[00:32:48] Sam and Tori are like, yeah, they kind of resolved all of their issues. Huh?
[00:32:53] And then I think Miguel and Robbie are tight.
[00:32:57] We have the team unless something goes wrong,
[00:33:00] like someone gets injured or something.
[00:33:03] I think we know who the team is and I don't think they're the, um,
[00:33:08] sensei's would have any reason to take those four out.
[00:33:12] So I'm betting Hawk is going to get on the team somehow.
[00:33:16] And I think that, uh,
[00:33:19] Devin is going to, uh, stay on the team.
[00:33:24] That's what I think. Why? I don't know. It's just a feeling.
[00:33:29] Cause that would be like, cause they're leading us down that path while Devin
[00:33:32] cheated. So she's going to get caught and then, uh, you know,
[00:33:36] Kenny's going to take her place. But I'm like, Oh, I don't know.
[00:33:38] I guess it might maybe do that little left turn that this show likes to do
[00:33:42] all the time and just kind of leave her in.
[00:33:44] But then that wouldn't be the right thing to do either. Would it?
[00:33:47] Well, it doesn't matter if it's the right thing. Yeah. You have a good point there.
[00:33:50] They like to make us, they do something we don't expect,
[00:33:53] but when we were with the three of us,
[00:33:54] we're talking about who he thought was going to be on the team. We said,
[00:33:58] uh, Sam, Tori, Miguel, Robbie Hawk.
[00:34:03] And then for the last position I was saying probably Kenny and you said
[00:34:08] Devin. I don't think you made a guess, Reba, right?
[00:34:12] But this is kind of exactly what Demetrio was saying when he was laying out why
[00:34:16] he won't even bother. He's like, well yeah, these five are the main ones.
[00:34:20] So that means there's only one position open and it will probably go to Kenny.
[00:34:25] He kind of thought through it the same way we did.
[00:34:27] Kenny. That was, that was an interesting turn of events.
[00:34:31] I wouldn't have expected what happened to Kenny.
[00:34:33] Getting his brown belt.
[00:34:38] When he started drinking from that water bottle before they ran into the
[00:34:41] woods to go find the flags. I knew that that's what was going to happen.
[00:34:46] Before that, I didn't have a clue,
[00:34:48] but when I saw him like squirting that water bottle,
[00:34:51] it immediately reminded me of when Mitch had been putting it in his water
[00:34:55] bottle when they were training at the dojo. I was like,
[00:35:00] I was like, I bet I'm like, I don't know.
[00:35:02] Something's funny about that water.
[00:35:04] Why are they focusing on that water so much with Kenny? And I was like,
[00:35:08] somebody slipped him something. I bet. I was like,
[00:35:10] I bet there's something in there. And sure enough,
[00:35:13] I didn't like think at all that it would be Devon, but I, you know,
[00:35:18] I knew something was going to happen.
[00:35:20] I thought it would be Devon. I don't know why, because they had,
[00:35:25] um, penis breath taking his X-Lax.
[00:35:28] Muscles now.
[00:35:32] I don't know if I can remember that, but, um, anyway,
[00:35:37] Mitch takes his X-Lax and, and, uh, Devon, no, not Devon.
[00:35:42] Who saw him? Anthony. Anthony saw him do it.
[00:35:45] So they're setting us up to think that Anthony sabotaged Kenny. Of course,
[00:35:50] because we know they have this rivalry. And I, like you were saying, Rich,
[00:35:52] like now this show doesn't do the expected. I think it was Devon.
[00:35:55] I just kind of had that thought right away and it did turn out to be her.
[00:35:59] But then when poor Kenny shits his pants
[00:36:02] and everyone starts laughing. And I,
[00:36:06] even though I don't like Kenny because Kenny was so vicious and he's still a
[00:36:10] dick to Anthony. He's still like, like Anthony's like,
[00:36:14] why did they even bring us all out here if we're all losers?
[00:36:16] And Kenny's like, so you could see what it's like to win or look,
[00:36:20] see what it looks like to win. He's always doing shit like that.
[00:36:25] But he's not as bad of a jerk. Cause when he punched, um,
[00:36:28] Anthony in the nose and Anthony's nose started bleeding,
[00:36:30] he seems sincere when he was like, Oh, I'm sorry, Leroso. But anyways,
[00:36:34] I still kind of don't like him. I hope he can be redeemed.
[00:36:37] But when he shits his pants,
[00:36:39] I simultaneously totally understood why Anthony would laugh at him,
[00:36:43] but also felt really bad for him.
[00:36:44] Cause that's a very humiliating thing to go through.
[00:36:48] I mean in front of your peers, when you're that age now,
[00:36:51] of course I don't care.
[00:36:53] Right now I just do it on purpose.
[00:36:57] Right now it's like, oops, shut my pants. Sorry everybody.
[00:37:00] Never trust a fart.
[00:37:08] Yeah. I mean, I, I, I don't love Kenny by any means.
[00:37:13] I feel like he still got quite an attitude and he's still a bit of a dick.
[00:37:18] I do feel he was genuine whenever he punched Anthony and realized he
[00:37:21] bled his nose. Um, but I don't think he deserved that. Cause that was
[00:37:25] pretty, that's pretty bad at that age. You know,
[00:37:28] that's very humiliating.
[00:37:30] And now Devin knows that Kenny thinks Anthony did it and Kenny's probably going
[00:37:37] to go beat the shit out of Anthony or something.
[00:37:40] And Devin's going to have to feel bad about that.
[00:37:44] But Devin has really made a mess and clearly she's, you know,
[00:37:48] even though she's been practicing, yeah,
[00:37:50] even though she's been practicing Miyagi-Do, yeah. Um, you know,
[00:37:55] it clearly it's not sinking in with her, you know, the,
[00:37:59] the practice of Miyagi-Do, um, you know,
[00:38:02] doesn't guarantee that everyone's going to be super virtuous.
[00:38:07] And she's really, you know, stirred,
[00:38:11] stirred things up because now she's got, you know, she's, I mean,
[00:38:16] cheated which shows her true character. I mean, I was,
[00:38:19] I was really upset by that. I was like, man, I was rooting for you,
[00:38:23] Devin, you know,
[00:38:24] but I feel like she's still hanging on to some of that ruthlessness that she,
[00:38:28] you know, learned from Cobra Kai and Eagle Fang. Um,
[00:38:32] and now she's really got it stirred up between Kenny and Anthony again,
[00:38:36] which, you know, felt like, yeah, they were still kind of ribbing each other,
[00:38:41] but I was really kind of hoping that through all this, they, you know,
[00:38:44] start to get a little bit of resolve there, you know,
[00:38:47] as they were training together and she's just really,
[00:38:50] really went and messed that up. And it's going to be,
[00:38:52] I think pretty bad once it's found out what she did.
[00:38:56] And she seems like, maybe it's just the way the actors playing it,
[00:38:59] but she seems like she has a good heart. But like I was saying,
[00:39:03] these conflicts that happen between people there's that we like,
[00:39:07] cause I liked Devin,
[00:39:08] there's often a personal failure and her personal failure. I mean, she,
[00:39:12] she was coming off kind of whiny. I thought when she was like, oh,
[00:39:16] someone's so faster than me and someone's so bigger.
[00:39:19] But I did understand her being frustrated that the,
[00:39:22] that Barnes happened to not be looking when she was doing her most awesome
[00:39:25] moves, you know, feeling like that wasn't fair.
[00:39:29] But then she kept thinking about Johnny when he was in his Eagle Fang mode.
[00:39:32] And then when he said to her something like, you do what you gotta do,
[00:39:36] you understand me.
[00:39:38] I think she misunderstood him and thought he was telling her to at any
[00:39:43] cost, you know? So that,
[00:39:45] what you just made me think of Rima is when Daniel at the beginning was saying,
[00:39:49] Oh yeah. The ones you want to go, maybe they're not balanced enough.
[00:39:53] They're not Miyagi-Do balanced enough or whatever.
[00:39:55] I felt pretty critical of Daniel there. I'm like, Hey,
[00:39:58] get rid of your biases. These are all your students now.
[00:40:01] Don't just pick your son and your people who are loyal to Miyagi.
[00:40:05] But it turns out maybe there was a point there with Devin,
[00:40:07] like she hasn't fully taken on the values of the dojo yet.
[00:40:12] Yeah. Miyagi-Do. She's still stuck with Cobra Kai.
[00:40:14] She will though. She will.
[00:40:16] I felt the same way like when they were talking and Johnny said,
[00:40:19] do whatever you need to do.
[00:40:20] And then there was the flashbacks of her losing like all the time.
[00:40:25] He's probably really frustrated and she wanted to be seen.
[00:40:27] He doesn't want to lose anymore. He doesn't want to be a failure anymore.
[00:40:30] So she doing what she needs to do. Well, made sense to me.
[00:40:36] Yeah.
[00:40:37] She was so desperate for Johnny's approval too. Bummer.
[00:40:42] Rima, I think it's your turn. Do you have another point?
[00:40:44] I just, I wish, I'm like you Richard.
[00:40:48] I was kind of confused about what Mike Barnes was doing.
[00:40:51] Like trying to determine these six players
[00:40:56] or fighters that were going to go to the tournament.
[00:41:00] I feel like wouldn't it have just been better to actually have them
[00:41:04] fight and actually test their fighting skills one-on-one.
[00:41:08] And instead of having just the six,
[00:41:11] maybe they should have kept the top 12 and that way you had your main fighters.
[00:41:15] You had your six and then you had your other six who were like your substitutes.
[00:41:21] Yeah.
[00:41:21] And I mean, it's a world tournament, I feel like, or an international,
[00:41:26] whatever tournament.
[00:41:27] I don't feel that's out of the realm of something that's acceptable to do.
[00:41:33] What if someone gets sick? What if someone gets injured? You know,
[00:41:37] wouldn't it make sense to have some people on a substitute team?
[00:41:43] I think it also would have made all the drama between the kids,
[00:41:48] you know, a little bit, have a little bit more depth to them. You know,
[00:41:51] if Kenny and Anthony both had, you know,
[00:41:54] made like the substitute team or if they found out about like Devin
[00:42:00] cheating, you know, knowing that she's in the top six,
[00:42:02] she could have been bumped to the substitute team and you could have
[00:42:05] brought another kid up.
[00:42:07] For that, I just, I don't know. I didn't really, really like that.
[00:42:11] I just thought it doesn't make sense to me.
[00:42:13] Like I know that they had this battle Royale and they had to like capture
[00:42:16] the flags and stuff.
[00:42:18] And then they had to do all these things for endurance and you know,
[00:42:22] speed and things like that. But I'm like, I don't know.
[00:42:24] I feel like if you're going to a tournament where you have to actually
[00:42:27] fight, you should probably do some fighting, you know,
[00:42:31] to determine those. And honestly,
[00:42:34] they should probably should have just had like that top four, you know, with,
[00:42:38] um, you know, Miguel and Robbie and Tori and, um,
[00:42:42] Samantha. Yeah. Sam. Cause I mean, they're,
[00:42:46] they're all the best and then like Hawk, I feel like he was the best.
[00:42:50] They really should have, I don't know,
[00:42:52] had a little bit a different type of elimination I feel in choosing
[00:42:56] some of them and then having like a substitute team. I don't know,
[00:42:59] just that didn't, didn't make as much sense to me.
[00:43:04] To go about it that way. So I wish, I wish that they would have, you know,
[00:43:08] went a different way,
[00:43:09] but I do like how they this episode had a shift of focus to Devin and
[00:43:14] Demetri, Kevin and Hawk. You know, we had, had some of the,
[00:43:17] not that Hawk, I guess is B team, but you know,
[00:43:19] they had some of the lesser characters, you know,
[00:43:22] kind of in the spotlight and, and you know,
[00:43:24] the drama is kind of over at least I hope anyway for now between the
[00:43:29] top four.
[00:43:31] So it's kind of good to see some of the others getting some spotlight on them
[00:43:35] and kind of getting some drama. Yeah. Yeah. The underdogs. Yeah.
[00:43:42] That's a great point. You know what? You're right. I kind of totally,
[00:43:45] I totally assumed when we found out there was going to be six,
[00:43:50] six players in this thing that that's exactly what they're going to do.
[00:43:54] You know what I was like, well, that's what you do.
[00:43:56] You just put on like a fake tournament,
[00:43:59] you get them all padded up with their pads and their helmets and stuff.
[00:44:01] And you just go and just do the tournament of elimination. But nope.
[00:44:06] The reason they didn't do that is because we're headed towards this
[00:44:11] tournament and we're going to get so much of that kind of thing.
[00:44:14] And they don't want to be tedious on this show.
[00:44:17] And so they wanted to try to find something different that was
[00:44:20] entertaining, you know, interesting to watch. But I mean,
[00:44:25] that's what I presume. Otherwise it would just be, um,
[00:44:28] here's a preliminary tournament, here's another tournament.
[00:44:30] And then we're going to the big tournament and we would be tournamented
[00:44:32] out. But, um,
[00:44:34] I think it was a misfire writing wise because it was dumb.
[00:44:41] I agree. Yeah. You, Rima has a great point. I mean,
[00:44:46] you could do a lot of drama with that sort of scenario,
[00:44:50] probably more so than what they did.
[00:44:55] But we got what we got. I don't know.
[00:44:58] I'm excited to see what the next episode holds. Sort of,
[00:45:01] but then we got to wait fricking what? Two months?
[00:45:05] November. Yeah.
[00:45:07] God. Hate this.
[00:45:11] So I had a point about conflicts we talked about.
[00:45:15] So cause we were wondering whether there'd be more conflicts between the
[00:45:19] good guys and we got a lot of it this time. Hakan Demetri,
[00:45:22] we already talked out Johnny and Mike Barnes.
[00:45:26] Johnny goes to the furniture shop. I guess Barnes is,
[00:45:32] he's seems to be making furniture, right?
[00:45:34] So I guess he's rebuilding his business. So that's good.
[00:45:38] Barnes totally picks a fight saying, Oh yeah,
[00:45:41] I understand why it might be hard for you to deal with a bigger alpha or
[00:45:44] something like that.
[00:45:46] And this is Miyagi-Do style with their Kata and meditation.
[00:45:50] And then they start fighting. Yeah.
[00:45:54] And he's,
[00:45:54] I like how it started with them punching each other right in the fist,
[00:45:58] fist to fist.
[00:46:00] And then they take turns trying to push each other into the buzzsaw.
[00:46:04] I'm like, geez.
[00:46:06] That was corny. I thought.
[00:46:11] I liked that at least it seemed like Johnny won. Would you agree?
[00:46:16] Yeah. Well yeah, totally. Because Barnes was like, Oh, all right.
[00:46:18] That's enough, enough. You win, you win. But also then he, I mean,
[00:46:24] he's apologized and so maybe it was just that he thought,
[00:46:29] I don't really want to be fighting right now.
[00:46:31] So I don't know for sure if you could say Johnny won,
[00:46:34] but I guess if he had to say, if he had to pick a winner, it'd be Johnny.
[00:46:37] I mean, technically just because he yielded, but we didn't actually,
[00:46:40] you know, if he hadn't yielded, would he have? I don't know. But I mean,
[00:46:44] I know that Johnny and Mike Barnes' fight wasn't necessary for the plot,
[00:46:49] but we still needed to see it.
[00:46:52] We need to see the two bad boys fight.
[00:46:54] Yes. It was awesome.
[00:46:56] That was cool.
[00:46:58] It was great. And one thing about it,
[00:47:05] it's just part of what I'm not liking as much about this season is
[00:47:10] the forced nature of it. It felt kind of like a forced fight.
[00:47:14] I agree with you 100% about we needed to see it so fine.
[00:47:18] But then there was this quick reconciliation where they're like,
[00:47:22] I'm so sorry. And it made it feel a little cheap that they,
[00:47:26] because throughout the series,
[00:47:28] we've seen a bunch of rivalries develop and intensify.
[00:47:31] And then eventually they kind of settle down and become,
[00:47:35] they connect and become friendly.
[00:47:37] And it's really satisfying to see this arc play out like primarily between
[00:47:41] Johnny and Daniel over seasons. Right?
[00:47:44] And then a bunch of others, I don't even need to name them all.
[00:47:47] But this one happened in about seven minutes
[00:47:53] where they're like all intense trying to kill each other and then like,
[00:47:55] oh, sorry, man.
[00:47:57] Yeah. Cause then at the end of the show, Barnes says,
[00:48:01] here's your team. And then he literally exits stage right.
[00:48:04] Like he went to his right hand side and just walked out of this frame.
[00:48:07] Like I think that's the last we're going to see of Barnes.
[00:48:11] Yeah. It was a little abrupt. Yeah. I mean,
[00:48:14] I don't know if Mike Barnes and Johnny were like friends by the end of it,
[00:48:19] but I feel like they had like a, like a mutual respect. Like, okay, I,
[00:48:24] I see you, you see me and there's so much alike.
[00:48:26] They're both like these kind of aggressive alpha males and they kind of
[00:48:31] like get each other. And that's probably why they, you know,
[00:48:35] kind of rubbed each other the wrong way because there's so much alike.
[00:48:38] Would you say Johnny and Daniel are friends?
[00:48:42] I think they're closer to friends than what like what they used to be for
[00:48:48] sure. I think they're definitely the same thing. There's a mutual respect.
[00:48:53] Yeah. I mean, it looks like, cause Johnny is,
[00:48:56] it looks like he's working at the dealership now. He's wearing that,
[00:48:59] that jacket or whatever with LaRusso auto group on it.
[00:49:02] So it looks like it's official.
[00:49:04] One thing I loved is when they were looking at each other's lists and
[00:49:08] Johnny's like, Anthony, come on, what is this?
[00:49:11] A family road trip or whatever, which I felt the same way.
[00:49:14] And then when Barnes was picking his 12 and the very last one was
[00:49:19] Anthony and Daniel's looking kind of proud and Johnny looks over and he was
[00:49:24] like, okay, way to go brother. Like he was happy for him, you know?
[00:49:27] And I'm like, ah, that's so great. Yeah.
[00:49:30] Yeah. So I agree with you.
[00:49:32] They are closer to friends and maybe they'll actually be like full on
[00:49:35] friends, but I still feel like it's the same kind of thing where they,
[00:49:38] there was these two rivals that fought each other bitterly and then came to
[00:49:41] some kind of mutual respect. And that happened with Johnny
[00:49:46] and Mike Barnes in about seven minutes.
[00:49:49] Yeah. Yeah. Well, you know, they're short episodes, so we can't,
[00:49:54] we got to move on to other things.
[00:50:01] Yeah, totally. Totally. But you know,
[00:50:04] I think that because if we don't see Mike Barnes again,
[00:50:07] I think what we were trying to or what they were trying to show is a little in
[00:50:11] this episode was how he demonstrated.
[00:50:17] Like he had self awareness about his lack of self control and how it cost
[00:50:21] him being able to go to this sec I tie Kai,
[00:50:26] you know, and whenever he said that he's, you know,
[00:50:28] as he was giving that speech in front of the kids, I was like, oh, he,
[00:50:32] he's had some self reflection and he kind of understands that he takes responsibility.
[00:50:36] So yeah. And, and I think, you know, even though he told Johnny,
[00:50:39] he's like, I don't know, man,
[00:50:39] I think I've just been looking for a fight and I'm sure it's probably
[00:50:42] just everything that's been pent up that happened to him when Terry silver
[00:50:45] burned his business down and his life was a mess, probably lost everything.
[00:50:49] I have no idea what a situation was with his wife.
[00:50:52] Maybe she left him or something,
[00:50:53] but it sounds like he just got all this going on and you know, he,
[00:50:57] you know, and Johnny was there and they just kind of took it out on
[00:51:00] each other, but I don't think he really had any heart in it.
[00:51:03] You know, at all. Yeah. Yep. Just, it was a guy there,
[00:51:08] giving him trouble. So he took it out on him. That's a good point.
[00:51:11] Yeah, that's a good point. There's not a deep rivalry there. So yeah,
[00:51:15] you just made it better for me because that actually wasn't a deep
[00:51:17] rivalry. So it does make sense that it was over more quickly.
[00:51:20] I was just thinking Johnny and Daniel, no one's going to win their rivalry,
[00:51:24] you know? So they might as well team up and be friends.
[00:51:28] Cause here you got two alphas and one of them wins. Done.
[00:51:34] So more rivalries, Kenny and Anthony, they're just,
[00:51:37] they never been friends,
[00:51:39] but I was surprised a little bit surprised to see Kenny ribbing Anthony
[00:51:42] still like that thing I said about so you can see what winning looks like.
[00:51:45] But it does feel real like a kid,
[00:51:50] kids who used to fight a lot and then they ended up on the same team,
[00:51:53] but one of them is still kind of a dick.
[00:51:55] That feels more real than if they were all just suddenly friendly.
[00:51:57] It's like real life.
[00:51:59] Definitely feels more real. Yeah.
[00:52:02] But he had softened a little bit, but anyway, we talked about that already.
[00:52:05] So Devin and Kenny, that's more about Devin.
[00:52:10] I think it doesn't have to do with Kenny at all.
[00:52:13] He just happened to be the person in her way. Right?
[00:52:17] So I don't know if I would even consider that a rivalry,
[00:52:20] but it will be once Kenny finds out that she did that.
[00:52:24] And then Daniel and Johnny a little bit because they were having at first
[00:52:29] that kind of what we've been wanting,
[00:52:33] that little bit of conflict that makes it interesting.
[00:52:35] Cause they didn't pick the same people at the beginning,
[00:52:37] but at the end,
[00:52:39] Daniel blames Johnny for Hawk not going cause he finds out that Johnny
[00:52:43] basically lobbied Barnes and he goes,
[00:52:46] you just had to Eagle thing your way to get what you wanted. And um,
[00:52:51] I don't, I'm like, that's not true.
[00:52:53] I think it was close and Barnes did miss Devin's best
[00:52:58] move. And I think if she, if he had seen that,
[00:53:02] he probably would have picked Devin over Kenny.
[00:53:04] And it was just a dumb way to pick, but I think Devin's a strong choice.
[00:53:10] And when Daniel says,
[00:53:11] do you honestly believe we have our strongest team? I'm like, well,
[00:53:16] the only difference from the team Daniel would have picked is that instead
[00:53:20] of Hawk and Anthony, it's Tori and Devin.
[00:53:24] So as much as I'm pulling for Anthony, I think he's the weakest of those four.
[00:53:29] So Daniel's complaining my point in going through all this,
[00:53:31] which I probably could have said a lot shorter is that Daniel's complaining
[00:53:34] about what happened, but the team he picked wasn't their strongest team
[00:53:36] either. Yeah. Yeah. And Johnny said when he asked Johnny that Johnny was
[00:53:40] like, yeah, absolutely. I totally believe in this team 100%.
[00:53:44] Which was admirable. Yeah. I mean, you gotta commit.
[00:53:48] You can't be like, Oh, I don't know. I don't know.
[00:53:51] The whole time all the way up to the tournament. I don't know if you guys are
[00:53:55] good enough, but go do your best.
[00:54:01] I agree. I want team Johnny on this one.
[00:54:06] All right. Anything else? I got one more point.
[00:54:08] Do you guys have any more before we go to notes?
[00:54:10] I just have a couple of notes now.
[00:54:14] Okay. Mine is just funny lines.
[00:54:17] Um, when is Johnny tells Daniel he wants to control.
[00:54:21] He wants control of the showroom music at the dealership.
[00:54:24] And I'm like, that's going to be Slayer, Metallica, AC, DC,
[00:54:29] probably same playlist.
[00:54:38] Do you have a list like this? We could take turns.
[00:54:42] I just jot it down a couple. Yeah, go ahead. Same thing.
[00:54:46] Um, Oh, don't just the Valley man. Yeah. That was pretty funny.
[00:54:51] I thought it was pretty funny when Barnes was like, all right.
[00:54:54] When he, when you introduced, you know,
[00:54:56] going out into the woods and grab the flags, he like totally serious.
[00:54:59] He made it serious. He was like, all right, all right, everybody take 10
[00:55:03] minutes stretch. Here's the bathroom. Call your mothers.
[00:55:10] That's a good impersonation. Yeah, that was really good.
[00:55:14] The only reason that happened is cause they had to give Devon time to spike,
[00:55:19] uh, Kenny's drink and for it to start taking action. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:55:23] I think I'd love to use that line the next time I introduced an assignment
[00:55:27] to my students.
[00:55:31] Record it. I want to hear you play it. This is a big one. Ten points.
[00:55:37] Um, so Daniel,
[00:55:41] when he first introduced Barnes to the students and they're all like
[00:55:45] chattering about the new teacher and he goes silence. And Johnny goes,
[00:55:48] I like this guy. And that's because Johnny always screams quiet.
[00:55:55] Got any more? You got one, Rima?
[00:55:57] Well, uh, when Barnes called Johnny a cream puff.
[00:56:01] Oh, he did. That was yeah. When they were, yeah,
[00:56:05] I called him a cream puff whenever Johnny, uh,
[00:56:07] went to meet him at his wood shop.
[00:56:11] And does anybody remember what that's a callback from?
[00:56:15] I do know. Yeah. I had a feeling you might.
[00:56:17] You're like the credit kid master.
[00:56:22] There's in crowd in the first movie and credit kid, um,
[00:56:27] it's during the final tournament,
[00:56:28] Johnny walks over to crease and he's getting his nose checked.
[00:56:32] And it's just before crease tells him to sweep the leg in. Uh, as,
[00:56:35] so as creases checking his nose in, in the crowd somewhere,
[00:56:39] I never see a face with someone yells really loud, John,
[00:56:42] you're a cream puff.
[00:56:46] Look on Johnny's face when Barnes called him a cream puff.
[00:56:51] You can tell it's done a little bit.
[00:56:54] Like how'd you know about that? Yeah. And I'm like, and I was like,
[00:56:57] was that Barnes?
[00:56:58] Like, right. Maybe it was him. That would be, that's good.
[00:57:03] I think we should. That's our head cannon.
[00:57:06] Yeah. If that happens twice though, you got to start to wonder, right?
[00:57:10] Oh no. Am I a cream puff?
[00:57:13] Everyone calls me that.
[00:57:14] I like when Johnny said to Barnes after their fight, just do me a solid,
[00:57:18] just check that little diary of yours and see if he gave Devin a fair shake.
[00:57:21] All right. A favor from one bad boy to another.
[00:57:24] Yeah. Bad boy to another. Think of that way.
[00:57:28] I thought it was funny. It's not a quote, but did you notice at the end,
[00:57:32] after Demetri came back,
[00:57:34] they all started celebrating before they even knew if Hawk was okay.
[00:57:38] Yeah.
[00:57:40] There he was like,
[00:57:40] he actually introduced the entire team before Hawk even showed up.
[00:57:44] Everyone was just like, yeah, party.
[00:57:47] Anyone concerned?
[00:57:49] Including Demetri. Yeah. He looked a little ashamed at first,
[00:57:52] but then he pulls out his thing, raising his fist in the air. Yeah.
[00:57:56] Poor Hawk.
[00:57:58] All right. What about notes?
[00:58:00] Yeah. I mean,
[00:58:01] the only other thing that we haven't covered already was I know I was
[00:58:05] feeling a certain kind of way during the Johnny and Mike Barnes
[00:58:10] fight when in slow motion Barnes shook off the
[00:58:15] sawdust. That was awesome.
[00:58:19] That had me feeling, feeling some things. I like that.
[00:58:23] You know what else too? I did think actually that just triggered her thought.
[00:58:26] I was, I remember thinking, wow,
[00:58:28] I wish I could just start throwing down without stretching or warming up or
[00:58:32] anything like that. These guys just went into a full bore.
[00:58:35] I'm like, God, I would pull so many muscles.
[00:58:38] That's kind of what I was thinking. I'm like,
[00:58:40] I wonder what this was really like for these guys.
[00:58:43] Yeah. They probably filmed one little bit of it and they're like,
[00:58:46] okay, I need to rest.
[00:58:48] Well, it's interesting because I read, yeah,
[00:58:52] I don't know Jason, if you have this in the news or not,
[00:58:55] but I happened to come across an article from Sean Canaan talking about this
[00:58:59] episode and he actually was supposed to have surgery on his
[00:59:04] shoulder, a rotator cuff repair or something or other.
[00:59:08] And he put it on hold in case he got the call for season six.
[00:59:12] And so he was not like super injured,
[00:59:15] but I think they had to choreograph it a certain way and kind of, you know,
[00:59:18] be kind of careful. And he still, he did all the things. Like what you see is,
[00:59:22] is him or whatever. But I think that they had to, you know,
[00:59:25] kind of accommodate a little bit for that and then get his surgery later.
[00:59:29] So I thought that was pretty cool. I was like, dang, way to go.
[00:59:36] I just keep seeing AJ Cordemain when I look at him though. It's,
[00:59:39] I know he's Mike Barnes, but I'm like, you're AJ Cordemain.
[00:59:42] For me.
[00:59:45] All right. I had a few notes.
[00:59:47] I liked that Anthony and Devin seemed to be getting to be friends at school.
[00:59:52] They're encouraging each other, you know, you're going to be the one to go,
[00:59:55] no, you're good. I thought that was cool.
[00:59:58] Then Kenny jumps in and says, I wouldn't get your hopes up.
[01:00:03] When Anthony came in with his bloody nose and Daniel brings up the time he
[01:00:07] got spaghetti on him as worse. I thought that was dumb.
[01:00:12] I wasn't a big fan of Daniel in this episode, honestly.
[01:00:15] Spaghetti stains worse than blood, I guess.
[01:00:20] When, yeah. So you mentioned, you know, better than being a cream puff.
[01:00:25] And then late after the fight, Barnes says, what I tell you,
[01:00:28] cream puff your karate is a joke. In Karate Kid 3,
[01:00:32] Mike Barnes said your karate is a joke to Daniel twice.
[01:00:36] Once when he broke into Daniel and Miyagi's bonsai shop.
[01:00:39] And then once at the tournament while he was kicking Daniel's ass.
[01:00:42] Your karate is a joke. It's a thing he says.
[01:00:47] He was going hard at him. Yeah.
[01:00:48] Couple more.
[01:00:50] I said a few times that these movies and shows are kind of like comic
[01:00:54] books,
[01:00:55] how it's kind of unrealistic for fights to break out all the time.
[01:00:59] But if you think of it like a comic book with superheroes,
[01:01:02] it's just part of the genre.
[01:01:04] And I was thinking another way that these shows are like comics is in
[01:01:09] comics. There tend to be way more villains than heroes.
[01:01:12] And that's because like Spider-Man, you know,
[01:01:15] comes out every month amazing Spider-Man. Spider-Man is the hero,
[01:01:19] but he gets a new villain each time, you know, except when they repeat.
[01:01:22] So that means there's more villains. So in one sense,
[01:01:26] Daniel's the protagonist and the hero of the Miyagi verse.
[01:01:29] And then you have villains, Johnny Chosen, Mike Barnes, Terry Silver,
[01:01:33] but that's why it's so great that Cobra Kai has played up Daniel's flaws
[01:01:38] and played up all these bad guys, humanity so that they can all kind of be
[01:01:41] anti-heroes on equal footing with Johnny and Daniel as the co-leads.
[01:01:46] But they're all mostly former villains who've kind of halfway reformed.
[01:01:51] Oh my gosh. Chosen wasn't even in it.
[01:01:54] Yeah, that was my last thing.
[01:01:55] I guess he went off to Okinawa and didn't even say goodbye or what?
[01:01:59] Yeah.
[01:01:59] They haven't even really talked about him or even mentioned it in passing.
[01:02:04] Well, we got this huge tournament. We need to choose six people. He's like,
[01:02:07] okay, bye.
[01:02:10] Good luck in the tournament.
[01:02:13] I gotta go find my girl. Yes.
[01:02:18] But Amanda's not complaining.
[01:02:20] Probably not.
[01:02:23] Yeah. You know, you guys bring up some good points.
[01:02:26] We talked a lot about how there's been a lot of shit talking in this
[01:02:29] episode.
[01:02:29] Everyone's really good at talking smack against each other and I'm like,
[01:02:33] I can't do that. Are you guys able to do that in the moment?
[01:02:38] If I'm drunk, I can.
[01:02:39] Can you? Because I'm just like, oh yeah, well you're a jerk.
[01:02:44] That's like my best comeback.
[01:02:46] Bad.
[01:02:48] I feel like that was so much better than in like my younger self and teenage
[01:02:52] years, but I'm a little out of practice.
[01:02:55] I have to be all professional these days. So it's,
[01:02:58] I feel like I'm very much out of practice, but yeah, like,
[01:03:01] I think like Jason, I think if a couple drinks and it all comes back.
[01:03:06] Yeah. For me, it's just like playing pool or basketball.
[01:03:11] Like every once in a while I'll have a really good game and surprise myself.
[01:03:15] It's kind of like that.
[01:03:43] All right. Let's get us some listener feedback. We didn't get a lot of,
[01:03:47] we didn't get any text comments.
[01:03:48] That's probably my fault because I forgot to put up the post until
[01:03:51] yesterday, but we did get a couple of calls. Actually ones from,
[01:03:55] they're both from Mike Caruso, ones from last week for last week's episode,
[01:03:59] which he sent in a bit late and one for this week.
[01:04:01] So here's from last week's episode.
[01:04:04] Hello again, guys. Mike from Cincinnati here, Cobra Kai,
[01:04:08] season six episode three, the sleeper. I just watched it.
[01:04:12] And overall I really enjoyed this episode,
[01:04:15] even though I have to say in my opinion at the beginning,
[01:04:19] it kind of felt a bit like a sitcom and I wasn't sure that I was going to
[01:04:23] like it, but turned out in the end, I really did. Um,
[01:04:27] I really liked the crease and Kwan Cobra Kai storyline,
[01:04:32] building up a bad guy for our good guys to face.
[01:04:35] That kid looks pretty formidable. Um, man, he might hurt somebody.
[01:04:40] We'll see what happens with that. Um, of course,
[01:04:42] I love the Mr. Miyagi stuff with Daniel, Amanda and chosen.
[01:04:48] Um, I really felt like it was kind of showing Daniel
[01:04:52] that Mr. Miyagi is not like this,
[01:04:56] like perfect unblemished almost like deity. Um,
[01:05:01] like he had his faults just like any one of us did. Um,
[01:05:06] I'm not sure if that's what they're trying to say with that. You know,
[01:05:08] it almost feels like, you know,
[01:05:09] Miyagi dough has a bit of Johnny in it if you look at it that way. Um,
[01:05:14] and it felt like it was all about balance, you know,
[01:05:17] like the balance between that, um, that stuff.
[01:05:19] I don't know if that's what they're going with.
[01:05:20] I'll be curious to see where that storyline goes. Um,
[01:05:24] and I love the outcome of the Johnny Sam and Tori storyline,
[01:05:28] but honestly that like the Johnny stuff in that was probably my least
[01:05:33] favorite. And I love Johnny.
[01:05:34] He might be my favorite character in the series, but yeah,
[01:05:37] some of the stuff he did, um, yeah, I just,
[01:05:42] I've I was rolling my eyes at Johnny.
[01:05:44] He is really living in the past and or I don't even know where he's
[01:05:48] living, but yeah, he's Johnny Johnny going to Johnny. What can we say? Um,
[01:05:51] I love seeing Devon Lee again. Um,
[01:05:54] Eagle Fangs first and only female student and kind of a bad ass in her own,
[01:05:58] right? Uh, did I miss her in the background of a previous episode or
[01:06:01] something? I wonder if she was there all along. And finally,
[01:06:05] I love that little moment when Johnny and Daniel were holding the package
[01:06:09] and it kind of felt like they were like, you know,
[01:06:12] in a pinch and uh, like really on equal terms,
[01:06:15] like I really believe that they've bonded like in that moment.
[01:06:18] Like if you imagine that it really was a bomb, I never thought it was,
[01:06:21] but if you imagined it really was and they were kind of selling that,
[01:06:23] that's what they thought. Um, you know,
[01:06:26] it does really seem like they're good. Like I don't,
[01:06:29] I don't imagine they're going to ever be enemies again after that.
[01:06:33] I don't know something about that moment, but yeah, guys,
[01:06:36] can't wait to hear the coverage. I told you I'd keep it short.
[01:06:38] I hope I did better. Um, see you next week. Stay a bad ass.
[01:06:43] Yeah. Yeah, they're rigs and what's the other guy's name?
[01:06:47] Murtaugh, isn't it?
[01:06:48] Murtaugh. Yeah. Uh,
[01:06:51] one thing he said about there being a little Cobra Kai in
[01:06:56] Miyagi or something like that made me remember something in this
[01:07:00] episode where, um, Daniel says about Tori,
[01:07:05] Tori skills are undeniable,
[01:07:06] but is she balanced enough to commit to Miyagi though? And Johnny says,
[01:07:10] the girl's a beast. Miyagi himself would have ranked her even above you.
[01:07:14] Guy wasn't afraid to knock a few skulls around mine included.
[01:07:23] I think that was half kind of holding a grudge, but also admiration.
[01:07:30] Yeah. And Johnny's mind.
[01:07:32] That was another thing too that wasn't in this episode was the whole Miyagi
[01:07:35] story. When's that going to pop in? Right?
[01:07:37] That's been on the back burner now. Like, Oh, I know.
[01:07:41] They got a lot of different things cooking. Yeah. Yeah.
[01:07:44] I'm sure it'll come back. Here's Mike's message for this week.
[01:07:48] Hi, Jason Rima and Richard Mike from Cincinnati back again.
[01:07:52] I watched Cobra Kai season six episode four underdogs.
[01:07:56] And I have to say this week it felt like it was all about creating
[01:07:59] tension within the dojo. First off,
[01:08:02] two weeks in a row where Johnny has kind of disappointed me.
[01:08:06] I know he means well, and he's just trying to help. But man,
[01:08:10] just last week I was thinking he and Daniel were simpatico,
[01:08:13] but now I'm worried Johnny's going to muck it all up.
[01:08:16] He needs to be more upfront with Daniel who has been way more level headed
[01:08:20] this season dealing with all Johnny and chosen's bullshit. Speaking of which,
[01:08:25] where the hell was chosen? Secondly,
[01:08:28] it was really sad to see how things played out between some of the
[01:08:30] students. You never want to see a relationship like Eli and Demetri's go
[01:08:34] down like that. Interestingly,
[01:08:37] the first time around that the binary brothers had a falling out,
[01:08:40] Eli was the undisputable asshole, aggro asshole. And this time,
[01:08:45] while I don't think Eli was necessarily in the right for calling Demetri
[01:08:49] annoying, Demetri was definitely the one that made the dirty move here.
[01:08:53] And in this situation, I kind of feel like he's the asshole.
[01:08:56] Do you guys agree with that? I do. Yep.
[01:08:59] And I really find the Lee Kenny Anthony triangle interesting as much as I
[01:09:04] like Lee and think she's a badass that could have made the tournament on her
[01:09:07] own steam. I hate seeing her cheat to do it. And poor Kenny, man,
[01:09:12] he's really had it rough with getting embarrassed in front of all of his
[01:09:15] classmates. And you just kind of want to see him get a win.
[01:09:18] Definitely seems like Kenny and Anthony are going to be coming to blows.
[01:09:22] So I know we have one more episode to go,
[01:09:24] but I have to say I'm really impressed with the first four episodes so far.
[01:09:29] There are a lot of threads going on simultaneously and most of them are
[01:09:33] really compelling.
[01:09:34] I guess this is what you can do with an extended 15 episode season and all of
[01:09:38] the groundwork laid by the first five.
[01:09:41] What other developments are we going to have in this last episode before we
[01:09:44] break until Thanksgiving? I'm curious to see,
[01:09:47] can't wait to hear what you guys have to say about it. Stay badass.
[01:09:54] That should have been our just standard closing line. Yeah. Yeah.
[01:09:59] Mike's got such great calls. And, uh,
[01:10:02] the only thing I didn't agree with is about Johnny because he went to Mike and
[01:10:07] didn't say get Devin in. He said, give Devin a fair shot.
[01:10:12] And I think that was reasonable. Maybe he should have told Daniel,
[01:10:14] he was going to do that. So you might have a point there.
[01:10:18] Yeah. Well, you got to stay a bad ass.
[01:10:22] That is just a given.
[01:10:29] Next episode, Cobra Kai season six, episode five, best of the best.
[01:10:32] Maybe we're going to get the song. Oh, yeah. That would be so cool. Yeah.
[01:10:39] Let's see. The listeners all know if you want to write in or send us a voice
[01:10:43] message about it, you can find all our contact information at podcastica.com.
[01:10:49] And while you're there, check out our other podcasts.
[01:10:53] Yeah. One I can't, I never remember which ones I bring up,
[01:10:56] but we have a podcast called the revisited podcast hosted by Ben and
[01:10:59] Kristen. They started out covering every single episode of lost the,
[01:11:04] you know, that old awesome show. And then they did Ted Lasso and they,
[01:11:08] I think they only have two more episodes left of that. So they're,
[01:11:10] they're wrapping up Ted Lassow right now. If you like that show,
[01:11:13] I recommend listening to them.
[01:11:14] And then they're going to move on to the good place, which I loved.
[01:11:18] Oh, that's with Ted Anson. Yeah.
[01:11:22] I watched the first episode. It was really good. Different. All right.
[01:11:26] That's our show.
[01:11:27] Thanks for listening. Use the bathroom. Call your mothers.
