Well. That was something. Lol.

[00:00:00] Hmm?
[00:00:01] Ah!
[00:00:03] Hmm.
[00:00:04] Hmm.
[00:00:04] I'm getting it!
[00:00:11] I'm getting it!
[00:00:12] I'm getting it!
[00:00:13] I'm getting it!
[00:00:19] I'm getting it!
[00:00:19] I'm getting it!
[00:00:21] Stop this!
[00:00:23] Get a hold of yourselves!
[00:00:24] Hey!
[00:00:25] Everybody off the mat now!
[00:00:28] I just want to make it!
[00:00:30] Hey everybody, welcome to the podcast, I'm Jason.
[00:01:00] And I'm Richard.
[00:01:02] And I'm Rima.
[00:01:03] And I'm Mike.
[00:01:04] Oh, it's Mike, and this is Cobra Kai Cast.
[00:01:08] Hey!
[00:01:08] This week we're covering, with Mike, Cobra Kai Season 6, Episode 10, Eunjangdo.
[00:01:15] I was wondering how you were going to say that, right?
[00:01:18] Pretty close!
[00:01:19] Welcome Mike, you guys might recognize Mike because he leaves badass messages just about
[00:01:24] every single episode, and I thought it'd be great to have Mike on because what would
[00:01:27] life be without a few surprises?
[00:01:29] So, welcome Mike.
[00:01:30] Yeah.
[00:01:30] Thank you, thanks for having me.
[00:01:32] I'm super stoked to be here.
[00:01:34] Awesome.
[00:01:35] Cool.
[00:01:35] We are glad to have you.
[00:01:36] Talk about this crazy episode.
[00:01:38] Yeah, I mean, sorry it was a boring one, but whatever.
[00:01:41] Right.
[00:01:41] I know, I picked the wrong one.
[00:01:43] I wanted to ask you, before we get into it, just kind of briefly so people can know,
[00:01:48] what is your history with Cobra Kai and Karate Kid?
[00:01:51] When did you get into it?
[00:01:54] Okay, so you might actually be a little surprised to hear this story, but Karate Kid, I think
[00:01:59] it came out in 84, right?
[00:02:01] Mm-hmm.
[00:02:01] I was born in 1986, so two years after the movie.
[00:02:04] No excuse.
[00:02:05] No, I'm just kidding.
[00:02:05] Yeah, right.
[00:02:07] Yeah.
[00:02:08] And I'm a millennial, and I have a boomer.
[00:02:10] Both of my parents are boomers, and my dad super loved Karate Kid when I was young.
[00:02:15] So, as a millennial does, I rejected everything that my parent liked, and I didn't really want
[00:02:23] to ... I didn't care for it a ton back then.
[00:02:26] Also, you know, when I'm watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Power Rangers, I'm not engaging
[00:02:32] with a movie from 1984 when I'm young.
[00:02:36] As I got older in my 20s, I came to appreciate it, but I wasn't really loving the Karate Kid
[00:02:43] IP until you guys were talking about your podcast, and I hadn't listened or watched because it
[00:02:53] was on YouTube, but as soon as it went to Netflix, I started watching it and basically
[00:02:58] got instantly hooked and kind of completely changed my whole perspective on the entire
[00:03:05] property, the first three movies, everything.
[00:03:07] I went out and bought them and watched them and everything, and now I'm totally, totally
[00:03:12] hooked and love the original film now.
[00:03:15] That is cool.
[00:03:16] So, yeah, kind of crazy, but yeah, it wasn't originally my favorite kind of thing.
[00:03:21] Is your dad still around?
[00:03:22] He is.
[00:03:23] Yeah, he's 75 and still kicking.
[00:03:24] Okay.
[00:03:24] I want you to call him and apologize.
[00:03:27] I'm kidding.
[00:03:28] He will love to hear that.
[00:03:30] No.
[00:03:30] I reject that.
[00:03:32] I also was very transparent when we started, or when Jason started the podcast, that I was
[00:03:39] not initially a fan of the original film either.
[00:03:42] So, that is okay.
[00:03:44] I've since come around.
[00:03:46] I've appreciated it more, but that's totally valid.
[00:03:49] Yeah.
[00:03:49] The show will do that to people.
[00:03:51] Yeah.
[00:03:51] Yeah.
[00:03:52] I love it.
[00:03:53] I think it's cool that, I always like on all our podcasts when we have people coming
[00:03:56] from different perspectives, like for example on Game of Thrones you have book readers and
[00:04:00] non-book readers, and it's nice to have different perspectives.
[00:04:03] One thing I want to mention before we get into the episode is I kind of like too that you
[00:04:07] mentioned that you rebelled against your dad because that is, this show is so much about
[00:04:14] the importance of good role models, parental figures.
[00:04:17] But one part that it doesn't really tackle all that much necessarily, maybe it does a bit,
[00:04:24] is that most of us do rebel at some point or we want to strike out and find our own identity,
[00:04:30] right?
[00:04:30] So, we go almost instinctively against what our parents want.
[00:04:34] I did that by not, like my parents were kind of pot smoking hippies.
[00:04:37] So, I rebelled against that by being pretty straight laced, but I eventually came around
[00:04:42] and I actually had an edible when I was watching this episode here.
[00:04:45] So, and that made it so intense.
[00:04:49] Anyway, God.
[00:04:50] Yeah.
[00:04:50] Full circle.
[00:04:51] It always comes full circle.
[00:04:52] Box on, box off.
[00:04:53] All right.
[00:04:53] So, let's get into it.
[00:04:55] Cobra Kai, season six, episode 10.
[00:04:57] What is it, Rich?
[00:05:01] Unjangdo.
[00:05:02] Did I say it right?
[00:05:03] I think that's right.
[00:05:04] Very good.
[00:05:04] I don't know.
[00:05:05] So, I wanted you to say it.
[00:05:07] Who wants to read the summary?
[00:05:09] Mike, would you like to read the plot summary?
[00:05:11] Sure, I can do that.
[00:05:12] Shorter one this time, courtesy of ChatGPT.
[00:05:15] A little note on there.
[00:05:16] Yep.
[00:05:17] In Cobra Kai, season six, episode 10, titled Yuzhangdo, the narrative reaches a pivotal
[00:05:24] moment.
[00:05:24] Daniel LaRusso grapples with the revelation of Mr. Miyagi's past, learning that his mentor
[00:05:29] once fatally wounded an opponent during the Sekai Taikai tournament.
[00:05:33] This discovery shakes Daniel's perception of Miyagi and causes tension with Johnny Lawrence.
[00:05:38] Their student, Robbie, faces a formidable opponent, Axel, in the semifinals, leading to an intense
[00:05:43] match.
[00:05:44] Meanwhile, Cobra Kai is reinstated into the tournament after another dojo is disqualified for doping,
[00:05:49] reigniting rivalries.
[00:05:51] The episode culminates in a chaotic brawl involving multiple dojos, during which Quan accidentally
[00:05:56] impales himself with a concealed knife, leading to his tragic death.
[00:06:00] This shocking event leaves the tournament's future in question and sets the stage for the
[00:06:05] series' concluding episodes.
[00:06:07] That it does.
[00:06:09] That it does.
[00:06:09] So, what did you guys think of this one?
[00:06:12] I kept saying that listeners were like, oh, I can't wait to hear what you guys think of it.
[00:06:18] And now we know why.
[00:06:19] So, what did you think of it, Mike, in general?
[00:06:23] I was pretty blown away by this episode in general.
[00:06:27] Especially the second half, for obvious reasons.
[00:06:30] I just found it to be incredibly thrilling, super intense, and completely unpredictable are
[00:06:37] kind of the descriptors that I put on there.
[00:06:41] Once a certain point hits, my jaw hit the floor, and it was hard to like, I had to pause it and rewind,
[00:06:48] because I was like, oh my god, so much, what, did that just happen?
[00:06:52] What's going on right now?
[00:06:53] Like, I felt like all the senseis on the sideline, who were like, what?
[00:06:57] Oh my god, like, what are we doing?
[00:06:59] Yeah, I know.
[00:07:00] I felt like, wait a minute, is this because of the edible, or is this really intense?
[00:07:08] I was literally like, whoa, whoa.
[00:07:11] Whoa, whoa.
[00:07:11] Am I awake here?
[00:07:12] What's going on?
[00:07:13] What about you, Rich?
[00:07:15] What do you think?
[00:07:16] Overall, I liked it.
[00:07:18] Yeah, overall, I did.
[00:07:20] I really enjoyed it.
[00:07:21] I mean, if there's one thing this show does well, it's entertain, right?
[00:07:24] In both action and drama.
[00:07:27] And like Mike, I was surprised by just about everything that happened in this episode.
[00:07:31] I did not see any of it coming.
[00:07:33] And you know, when you think this show is going to go in one direction, it always takes a massive left turn.
[00:07:40] Which I like.
[00:07:41] Like they're all, one of the dojos cheated and you're like, oh, that Cobra Kai and then it's some other dojo.
[00:07:46] Yeah.
[00:07:47] Which I do like.
[00:07:49] Yeah.
[00:07:49] However, I will say it did, it did take a rewatch and a concentrated effort on my part to suspend some of that disbelief.
[00:07:59] So I could make sense of what the hell is going on and actually enjoy the episode, you know?
[00:08:03] I mean, there was something else I was going to say about, I like, okay, so about it being unpredictable.
[00:08:12] I love when I didn't predict something at all, but once it happens, you kind of feel like, oh yeah, that sort of had to happen.
[00:08:20] Like that was almost inevitable.
[00:08:22] Yeah.
[00:08:22] That's how I felt about this episode.
[00:08:23] Yes.
[00:08:23] Like no way I would have predicted it, but yeah, they just, that's what this season is about taking it to the extreme.
[00:08:29] And then as far as it being extreme and you needing to suspend your belief, disbelief, I just feel like this episode is practically an anime at this point.
[00:08:39] It's like karate opera, you know?
[00:08:42] Yeah.
[00:08:42] Power Rangers.
[00:08:42] I'm just like, yeah, push it, man.
[00:08:44] Do the whole like cheesy, rocky scenes in front of all the Spanish locations and stuff, even though it would be really dumb to drive around all those.
[00:08:55] Yeah.
[00:08:56] Right.
[00:08:56] Stuff like that.
[00:08:57] Right.
[00:08:57] Anyway, Rima, what about you?
[00:09:01] Well, I mean, just to highlight what y'all have already covered, you know, I, I enjoyed it too.
[00:09:06] I thought it was a great way to end the second half.
[00:09:10] Um, I also did not predict that this is the way it was going to go.
[00:09:15] Um, it, it did subvert expectations, you know, where other seasons we, when we have all these tournaments, we have like a clear winner, right?
[00:09:24] We, we, we have a tournament.
[00:09:25] It follows, you know, the, the processes we've seen it over and over again in each season.
[00:09:31] And then in this episode, just, we don't get that at all.
[00:09:35] Like there's, you know, the, the, the, the tournament does not conclude.
[00:09:39] It goes into complete chaos.
[00:09:41] Yeah.
[00:09:41] And I did not see that coming at all.
[00:09:43] So I think that really, I liked that though, because you know, the show is really good at that.
[00:09:47] So, and I think that this is a really good time to, you know, here at the end in the final season and with only five episodes to go really just kind of flip everything on its head.
[00:09:57] It really leaves so much open, um, you know, in questions like what's going to happen next.
[00:10:02] Cause I, I couldn't begin to guess what's going to happen next after this and what the fallout is going to be.
[00:10:07] Honestly, I'm excited.
[00:10:09] Yeah.
[00:10:10] I have an, I have a pretty good, uh, well, I guess I have a prediction about what will happen at the very end, which I've already said on this podcast a couple of times, but I'll say it again when we get to the news.
[00:10:21] But, um, yeah, how we're going to get there.
[00:10:23] I have no clue.
[00:10:24] Um, we may, I think we may still get more tournament stuff, believe it or not.
[00:10:29] But, you know, I don't think, cause when I first watched this, I'm like, Oh, there's no way they could go on with the tournament after someone died.
[00:10:36] But now I'm starting to think they will find a way to do it.
[00:10:41] Oh, I don't know.
[00:10:44] Pretty creative.
[00:10:46] But another thing too, that's coming up as we're talking about this is I'm, I'm so glad that I didn't get spoiled on this brawl.
[00:10:53] Yeah.
[00:10:53] That made it so, cause I did get spoiled that one of the teams doped, but I didn't put two and two together that that would mean Cobra Kai would come back.
[00:11:01] No, I didn't get spoiled on the brawl and I'm, I'm really thankful.
[00:11:04] Um, I'm going to go ahead and do a first point here because it's, um, about previous episodes.
[00:11:10] I rewatched the four episodes leading up to this one with Nico who hadn't seen him yet.
[00:11:17] He was all caught up except for four.
[00:11:18] So we sat down and kind of binge through over two days and I noticed a few things that they were playing up the young Jangdo knife from the start.
[00:11:28] Like when Johnny was with that guy who was selling the acrylic nunchucks and, um, crease comes up next to him and Johnny's like showing off his nunchuck skills.
[00:11:39] And he's like, Oh, the knife is better.
[00:11:41] Crease pulls out his knife.
[00:11:43] And then, um, he says, I'm going to show you what the true definition of no mercy is at one point.
[00:11:48] So it's like, he's got that knife and he's saying that you, you know, we should have known that it was going to maybe, you know, I didn't, somebody was going to get stabbed.
[00:11:58] Um, when chosen burst into the buffet, all drunk, uh, at one point he said, it's all good, man.
[00:12:05] And it reminded me of better call.
[00:12:07] So I didn't catch that the first time.
[00:12:09] It's all good.
[00:12:11] Uh, it, it occurred to me.
[00:12:13] So we've been kind of critical about Robbie being so thrown off by Tori that he keeps messing up fights and stuff.
[00:12:21] And I still feel somewhat critical of that, but it occurred to me that he has abandoned issues because neither Johnny nor his mom were there for him most of his life.
[00:12:30] So if she says we're taking a pause, I could see someone who has that panicking, which is what totally what he did.
[00:12:38] So I feel a little more understanding of it watching a second time.
[00:12:40] I was also, um, critical of him for thinking that there was really something going on with Quan and Tori.
[00:12:47] But when I watched that scene in the bar again, where he kind of gets up on her and Robbie sees that, but then when she pushed him away, they really did make a point that Robbie did not see that part.
[00:12:56] And I didn't notice that before.
[00:12:58] Uh, so he didn't see her pushing away.
[00:13:00] Um, and then the last thing is, uh, we see sensei wolf beating axle during training and I'm Bodhi was watching with us to my seven year old.
[00:13:12] And I was telling him cause they both take Kung Fu, my kids.
[00:13:16] So I said to Bodhi, is that how your Kung Fu teacher trains you?
[00:13:20] And he goes, no.
[00:13:21] And I go, that's not a good teacher, is it?
[00:13:23] And he goes, but somehow they're winning.
[00:13:28] And I'm like, you're not learning the right lessons from this.
[00:13:32] I'm like, we better watch to the end so you can see them hopefully lose.
[00:13:42] So, uh, Mike, would you like to go next?
[00:13:46] Yeah, sure.
[00:13:47] Um, so for my first point, um, it's, it's the unexpected quality of writing in this show and kind of spinning off of that, like how they move all the characters around, um, to get them where they need to be for whatever situation to unfold.
[00:14:05] Um, so like, I just feel like this shows writing never fails to surprise me.
[00:14:10] They, it's always, I think better than it has any right to be, um, as a show that has a lot of frankly, dick and fart jokes in it, you know?
[00:14:19] Yeah.
[00:14:20] In, in one episode you'll have like, you know, Dimitri farting while he's asleep.
[00:14:25] Um, and then you'll also have like a really heartfelt moment with, um, I don't know, Johnny and Devin or something.
[00:14:32] And, um, and, and, you know, you've got those dick and fart jokes going, but then at the same time, you've got them doing things like the doping to, even though Cobra Kai was just beat, bring them back into the tournament.
[00:14:45] And, um, and before that, you know, you've got, um, bringing Kenny in by having Devin say, okay, no, I'm gonna, or actually it was Miguel, uh, having to fly home.
[00:14:54] How are we going to get Kenny out here too?
[00:14:57] Um, let's do this.
[00:14:57] And they, they could keep moving the chess pieces around to get them where they need to be and, uh, create these situations.
[00:15:05] And it's like, you know, like I'm watching and I'm thinking, how is this all going to play out?
[00:15:12] Um, you know, how are we going to see Tori or Sam?
[00:15:16] I mean, they're up against each other in the first round.
[00:15:18] How are they, who's going to face Zara?
[00:15:20] I feel like they both have some, well, mostly Torah has skin in that game, but we want to see Sam win that fight.
[00:15:25] Well, how do we get there?
[00:15:26] Well, let's just have the whole tournament go out the window and just have a massive brawl ensue.
[00:15:31] Uh, and out of nowhere that I didn't see coming at all.
[00:15:35] When, when, uh, Gunther, I think his name is gets punched across the face by the Russian sensei.
[00:15:42] Yes.
[00:15:43] That totally shocked me.
[00:15:44] He was caught.
[00:15:45] Yeah.
[00:15:46] What?
[00:15:46] Came out of nowhere.
[00:15:48] Exactly.
[00:15:49] Yeah.
[00:15:49] I had to pause it and go back.
[00:15:50] And yeah, I'm just, it's, it's, um, the show feels like, you know how Johnny's the ace degenerate.
[00:15:56] I feel like the show is the ace degenerate.
[00:15:59] Like it's got all these degenerate jokes in it, all the dick and fart jokes, like I say, but then they've got this ace writing where they just, everything's narratively connected.
[00:16:08] The characters have well defined story arcs that are reaching peaks at the right time.
[00:16:13] And they're, they're finding ways to, you know, how do we pick Cobra Kai up against, uh, the iron dragons and Miyagi-Do when we've just knocked them out and they come up with the way to do it.
[00:16:24] And every time I'm impressed and surprised by it.
[00:16:28] Yeah.
[00:16:28] I mean, I would say that me and Rich liked the show because of the dick and fart jokes.
[00:16:33] And it's really a validation of dick and fart joke lovers everywhere.
[00:16:37] Totally.
[00:16:38] I'm the generation of Jay and Silent Bob and I, I, I totally dig it.
[00:16:43] Um, but it just, it's so funny to see a show with that and then also just kick ass.
[00:16:48] Yeah, absolutely.
[00:16:48] I mean, I just watching this episode in particular, I was, I was feeling kind of proud of the writers.
[00:16:53] Like, wow, they're really just pushing it as far as they can in this final season.
[00:16:58] And you, it's one of those shows, I think where you can feel the joy of creating it, you know, cause they're clearly just huge fans of the karate kid and everything.
[00:17:06] And, and they, even like the, um, Miyagi dream sequence, which we'll talk about.
[00:17:11] I was so impressed by that too.
[00:17:13] Like, wow, who would have ever expected this, but it's so great.
[00:17:16] You know, they just put great things in there.
[00:17:18] And yeah.
[00:17:19] And I totally feel like, you know, some people might've wanted to see the tournament play out.
[00:17:24] Right.
[00:17:24] Traditionally.
[00:17:25] But like, I feel like the way they did it, it was, it was so well, uh, so well done, um, well executed that like, I, I mean, yeah, maybe we'll go back.
[00:17:36] But if we didn't go back to the tournament, I don't know that I would be super butthurt about it.
[00:17:40] Um, I, I just feel like what happened was so jarring and crazy that it had its own satisfying conclusion to it in and of itself.
[00:17:49] Yeah, absolutely.
[00:17:50] Yeah.
[00:17:51] And I, I, at this point, um, I pretty much 100%, maybe 90% trust them to do whatever they want to do.
[00:17:59] Great.
[00:17:59] And not worry about whether it's something that I think they should do, you know?
[00:18:05] Yeah.
[00:18:05] It's like, where are you going to take us?
[00:18:07] I wonder if the writers, you think the writers have edibles in the writing room?
[00:18:11] Yes.
[00:18:12] Yes.
[00:18:13] 100%.
[00:18:13] Sometimes I wonder.
[00:18:14] That's another thing I've always liked about this show as a person who I, I think of myself as a progressive person and someone who cares about making sure that people who've been traditionally marginalized and oppressed have an equal opportunity.
[00:18:31] But I also feel like, uh, and I know some people don't agree with this, that we've gone too far with the political correctness and we've lost our sense of humor.
[00:18:39] And this show has that sense of humor and I love it.
[00:18:43] Yeah.
[00:18:44] Yeah.
[00:18:44] Me too.
[00:18:45] It makes the impactful moments that much more impactful.
[00:18:49] We can take a breath, we can laugh.
[00:18:51] And then when we hit hard, it, it, it hits us hard.
[00:18:54] Yeah.
[00:18:54] The sincerity of it mix, the mix of all that stuff together is great.
[00:18:58] Yeah.
[00:18:59] I felt that way a bit with, um, when me and Rich covered Ash versus Evil Dead too.
[00:19:03] I don't know if you ever watched that.
[00:19:05] Um, probably less sincere than this show, but it also had that mix.
[00:19:10] Yeah, definitely.
[00:19:10] Definitely not politically correct.
[00:19:12] I was going to say that show definitely threw all political correctness out the window and I loved it because of that.
[00:19:19] It was such a great show.
[00:19:21] Well, yeah.
[00:19:22] Good points there, Mike.
[00:19:23] What about you, Rich?
[00:19:24] What do you got?
[00:19:25] Yeah.
[00:19:25] You know, I agree, Mike.
[00:19:26] And then also what helped me make sense of it all too, is that the brawl, you know, it's kind of like a, a storytelling vehicle to show all the characters that had beef with each other fight, you know?
[00:19:39] And, and like one gigantic, uh, what it was like 25 minute extended scene or something.
[00:19:43] No, it wasn't that long, but it was pretty long.
[00:19:45] It was 12.
[00:19:47] I went back, but I thought it was longer.
[00:19:48] I felt, it felt like the whole second half of the episode, but it ended up being about 12 minutes.
[00:19:54] It was so intense.
[00:19:55] Yeah.
[00:19:56] Yeah.
[00:19:56] It's definitely, uh, something you had to rewatch too, to get all that rivalries, you know, all those rivalries that they crammed in there.
[00:20:03] And it was, you know, I mean, it had, it had sense to it.
[00:20:06] You had all of these, uh, characters that had been, you know, having this beef with each other brewing for like five episodes.
[00:20:12] And they finally, it all came out on the dance floor there, so to speak.
[00:20:16] You know, you had Kim and Chosen, you know, fighting together.
[00:20:19] That was one where they actually came back together.
[00:20:21] No mistake this time.
[00:20:24] Okay.
[00:20:24] No mistake.
[00:20:25] Are we good?
[00:20:26] Made that very clear.
[00:20:29] Right.
[00:20:29] Just throwing that out there, right?
[00:20:31] They had, they had a face-offs all over the place.
[00:20:33] They had Axel and Miguel, Daniel and Dennis.
[00:20:35] Uh, pretty funny going at it again.
[00:20:39] Johnny and Wolf, Tori and Zara, Kreese and Silver.
[00:20:41] So I, that was pretty cool.
[00:20:42] Once you make sense of how that, you know, riding vehicle there to, to get all those people, uh, going and kind of pretty much bring a close to these last five episodes.
[00:20:52] But, oh my God, what the hell is going to happen next?
[00:20:54] Who knows?
[00:20:56] It felt like, uh, because we've had brawls before.
[00:21:00] We had probably the biggest, most intense one before this was the high school one at the end of season two.
[00:21:04] Yeah, that's the first thing I thought of.
[00:21:05] Yeah, season two.
[00:21:06] Oh man, we're not going back to high school, are we?
[00:21:08] But then it turned out much better.
[00:21:10] Yeah, I think this was the best one, in my opinion.
[00:21:13] But we also had one at, I think, Daniel's house and, uh, one at, at the end of last season at, I think, the Cobra Kai Dojo where he crane kicked Silver.
[00:21:23] So it felt like a season finale, you know, with a cliffhanger.
[00:21:28] Totally.
[00:21:30] Rima?
[00:21:31] Well, I'll just add on to what, um, you guys already started as far as the writing.
[00:21:37] At first, without everything that they've given us with these first or second part of, um, these five episodes, it wouldn't make a ton of sense how quickly this tournament just went into mass chaos.
[00:21:51] But they, they, they wrote it that way.
[00:21:54] And it makes so much sense when you go, if you go back and, and rewatch those, um, first four episodes.
[00:22:00] So much happens, um, to get everyone so built up, um, and you get all those rivalries, uh, on the floor and you see, you know, this team going after that team.
[00:22:12] And that person had a beef with that person, like you were saying, Rich.
[00:22:15] So it kind of made all that sense.
[00:22:16] And you think about, I mean, to, to be at the, at the top tier that these fighters are at, to be at an international competition, they have to be, these kids have to be so competitive, right?
[00:22:27] Like they just have to have that drive, that motivation and they have to have that in them.
[00:22:31] And then, yeah.
[00:22:31] And the skills, um, so they have to be that kind of person anyway.
[00:22:35] And then to have like their senseis constantly pushing them and pumping them up.
[00:22:39] I mean, these are like just hormone filled teenagers, you know, that it just makes so much sense for all of them to just be like, ah, and just running each other across the room.
[00:22:49] I was so pumped.
[00:22:49] I was like, I want to be in the middle of that.
[00:22:51] Like, I want to get in on someone.
[00:22:52] I don't even have a beef with any of you, but I want to get in on the middle of that.
[00:22:56] Have some steam.
[00:22:57] Um, they had me all pumped up, you know?
[00:23:00] Um, so I, I loved it.
[00:23:01] I, I really appreciated how, you know, they kind of put, planted those seeds, um, throughout this part or this half of the season in the second half, um, to get us there because it was really fun to then see it all play out.
[00:23:16] Yeah.
[00:23:16] And see, you know, that person punch that person in the face, uh, you know, and, and really get a chance to come at each other.
[00:23:24] Cause maybe they didn't get a chance on the mat beforehand, but here they did and they all just went crazy.
[00:23:29] So it was, it was great.
[00:23:31] I loved how, how they built it up.
[00:23:32] Cause then it did make sense.
[00:23:34] And as much as Cobra Kai can, you know what I mean?
[00:23:37] Yeah.
[00:23:38] It had a shape.
[00:23:39] It's so impressive when they can take such a big fight.
[00:23:42] That's everyone in the room and give it a shape and give it little pockets of story.
[00:23:48] They do that so well.
[00:23:49] Yeah.
[00:23:50] Yeah.
[00:23:50] Kind of reminded me of when I played rugby, you know, your mortal enemies on the field and
[00:23:54] then you all go out for a beer afterwards.
[00:23:58] I wonder if that's what they're going to do.
[00:24:00] Except for the dead one.
[00:24:01] That'll be the next episode.
[00:24:05] Oh, and the way it started, I feel like this was one of the best moments of the episode,
[00:24:11] if not the best where, um, you know, they're going through what we think is going to be
[00:24:17] the semifinal traditional matches.
[00:24:20] And we're like, Oh, how are they going to make that interesting?
[00:24:23] And then during the match with Axel and Robbie, Axel pushes Robbie back into all the Cobra
[00:24:30] Kai guys and Quan elbows Robbie and Miguel's like, Hey, and he runs over and then Axel pushes
[00:24:35] him down before it can get over there.
[00:24:37] And when that happened, all the teams started kind of slowly advancing and Quan and Robbie
[00:24:42] faced off and Axel and Miguel faced off.
[00:24:45] And at this point I was like, Oh my God, it's so tense.
[00:24:49] How's it going to be diffused?
[00:24:50] And then that efficient guy whose name I never remember says, stop, stop this.
[00:24:55] And I'm like, okay, he's going to stop it in the tournament.
[00:24:58] We'll pause or something.
[00:24:59] And he goes, everybody off the mat now.
[00:25:01] And then he got sucker punched by the disgraced Russian sensei and fell flat on his face.
[00:25:07] And that's where we already said this, but I was like, Holy shit.
[00:25:10] And then there was this vacuum there, like authority gone, you know, like calm before the storm with
[00:25:16] all these dozens of world karate champions staring at each other and realizing what's
[00:25:20] about to happen before it happens.
[00:25:21] And that moment was so pregnant with the tension.
[00:25:24] And then the Russian sensei guy goes, fight.
[00:25:27] And everybody's like, yeah.
[00:25:28] So that was such a vacuum filled moment, you know, that was cool.
[00:25:34] But, uh, I want to talk about, uh, my point is called does karate training for defense only
[00:25:43] still lead to violence?
[00:25:46] And, uh, I think in this episode, the question of whether karate in and of itself is, is the
[00:25:53] cause of the violence we're seeing on the show is front and center.
[00:25:57] Um, when Johnny, after he suggested that they have, they hire locals to fight their students
[00:26:03] for training, uh, he says, and Daniel says, no, we can't do that.
[00:26:08] Johnny says the world's a dangerous place.
[00:26:10] They can handle it.
[00:26:11] What the hell you think we've been teaching them?
[00:26:12] And Daniel says, I'm beginning to wonder that myself these days.
[00:26:16] I opened up Miyagi dough to help these kids defend themselves.
[00:26:19] And now it's just been one fight after another.
[00:26:21] Maybe defense only is just bullshit.
[00:26:23] Maybe we're not supposed to be here.
[00:26:25] And he's feeling that way, of course, because Miyagi killed the guy and he's spinning on
[00:26:30] that and questioning everything.
[00:26:32] But I've thought about that over the course of the series that the kids have to fight,
[00:26:37] you know, because it's a karate show and that's what we want to see.
[00:26:39] That's what we're tuning in for.
[00:26:40] But then that means that the story that in the story, there's just a lot of violence in
[00:26:45] these kids lives.
[00:26:46] And you sort of write it off as well.
[00:26:49] That's just the show.
[00:26:50] It's, it's heightened reality.
[00:26:51] It's not the real world.
[00:26:52] Um, but I love that Amanda seems to look at it from the real world point of view.
[00:26:59] Like, there's so much fighting.
[00:27:01] But after this episode with someone dying and it being broadcast on national TV, I think
[00:27:06] they are addressing it in a more, in a bigger, more direct, more self-aware way that maybe
[00:27:11] training to fight leads to more fighting.
[00:27:13] And so when like Quan goes out there with crease, his knife, seemingly ready to kill, it shows
[00:27:21] he's fully taken on the Cobra Kai mentality of showing no mercy.
[00:27:24] And then he pays for it with his life.
[00:27:26] And I've thought on this show, they've sort of minimized the impact of violence.
[00:27:30] Like, um, they don't get hurt as much as they should with how much force they're using,
[00:27:35] especially Robbie in season two, when he, I mean, not Robbie Miguel, when Robbie kicked
[00:27:39] him over the railing and he fell on his back and it seemed like he might be disabled for life,
[00:27:43] but he quickly recovered and there's no sign of it now.
[00:27:45] Um, but now here's a serious consequence that can't just be erased.
[00:27:50] And, um, so the way like I, on the, I keep bringing this up, but when I was on the edible
[00:27:58] watching the brawl, I was uncomfortable with it.
[00:28:02] I felt sad.
[00:28:03] I was at the same time, um, excited.
[00:28:07] I felt all kinds of things.
[00:28:09] I was thrilled like, oh yes, they're pushing it as far as they can.
[00:28:12] But I was also like, this is horrible.
[00:28:14] This is so disturbing.
[00:28:15] And, and people watch seeing it on TV.
[00:28:19] I feel like that's the point that, cause the way the look on Amanda's face and, and other
[00:28:25] people there, I think Anthony kind of halfway thought it was cool, but, uh, Amanda's like,
[00:28:32] oh my God.
[00:28:33] And then when Quan hits that camera and lands on the floor with a bloody nose and just start
[00:28:37] screaming, ah, and you see that everyone's seeing that on TV.
[00:28:40] I'm like, there's going to be some consequences for this.
[00:28:44] That was an intense moment.
[00:28:45] People are going to see that these kids are beating each other up because they're training
[00:28:48] in karate, you know?
[00:28:49] And I, I just think it's cool.
[00:28:51] It brings the show to another level that they are bringing that into it potentially.
[00:28:59] Who knows?
[00:29:00] Maybe it'll just be swept under the rug soon after.
[00:29:03] But I, I hope not.
[00:29:06] Cause, um, I want people, I want Amanda to be like, yeah, see, what do you, what do you
[00:29:09] guys think about this?
[00:29:10] But then I don't know how they're going to reconcile that because I don't think Kobra
[00:29:13] is going to come down and say, okay, karate is actually bad.
[00:29:16] It's not going to say that.
[00:29:17] Right.
[00:29:17] So I don't know what they're going to do.
[00:29:18] I think if they do reconcile that and continue the tournament, it's going to take away some
[00:29:22] of what everything you just said, take away some of that intensity of these scenes, you
[00:29:26] know, because, uh, let's be frank, a death of a minor during a brawl on a live broadcasted
[00:29:32] feed is going to be pretty hard to resolve.
[00:29:35] Yeah.
[00:29:36] Yeah.
[00:29:36] There has to be some kind of, I don't know how and what, but there has to be some kind
[00:29:40] of consequence or something that comes out of that.
[00:29:44] And I, I, you know, one thing I've said about karate kid, which for many years was my very
[00:29:50] favorite movie.
[00:29:50] And it's always been one of my favorites is I love the movie, but I also recognize there's
[00:29:55] some cognitive dissonance there when you've got Mr. Miyagi saying karate is for defense
[00:30:00] only you train to fight because so you won't have to fight.
[00:30:03] But the, the cathartic moment from that movie that we all love is Daniel just kicking the
[00:30:07] fuck out of Johnny's face, you know?
[00:30:10] And, and, and that's what we want to see.
[00:30:12] And so to sort of maybe address the psychology of that in a way might be kind of interesting
[00:30:18] on this show.
[00:30:19] Who knows?
[00:30:19] We'll see.
[00:30:20] I put a, I put a note, uh, in my, uh, uh, thing here that said I, I did, I had a much
[00:30:26] simpler thought than Jason did, but I was like, I wonder if this show makes parents want to
[00:30:31] put their kids into karate or keep the kids as far away from karate as possible.
[00:30:38] That's a good point.
[00:30:39] Right.
[00:30:39] My kids are in Kung Fu and, and Nico, like when he was much younger, I think he's, there
[00:30:46] was this kid at school that was mad at Nico and his friend cause Nico and his friend were
[00:30:50] throwing grapes at people or something.
[00:30:53] So it was their fault.
[00:30:54] And the kid, but the kid came up and got in Nico's face and Nico said, I know Kung Fu, which
[00:31:00] was a mistake.
[00:31:01] Cause then the kid just started wailing on him and Nico just fell to the ground and he
[00:31:04] didn't even use his Kung Fu.
[00:31:06] Yeah.
[00:31:06] And that, you know, he asked his teacher later what he should have done.
[00:31:10] And his teacher told him he should have done a sidekick or something like that.
[00:31:13] But anyway, it didn't turn out to be very useful for him.
[00:31:16] It's just kind of a bummer.
[00:31:18] Mike, were you going to say something earlier?
[00:31:20] I feel like I cut you off.
[00:31:22] No, no.
[00:31:23] Just that moment that you mentioned with, where Kwan hits the camera and falls in front
[00:31:27] of the camera.
[00:31:27] That was a super intense moment.
[00:31:29] I had, I had a note about that too.
[00:31:31] It just very, it there's, it was pregnant with intensity.
[00:31:35] Yeah.
[00:31:36] He's so good.
[00:31:37] That kid.
[00:31:38] Yeah.
[00:31:39] Yeah.
[00:31:39] Oh yeah.
[00:31:40] I mean, he, he's good.
[00:31:41] He's a good actor, I think.
[00:31:43] And also God, he was, he was pulling off some pretty amazing moves in this tournament
[00:31:47] too.
[00:31:47] There's one part just before he killed himself where he jumped and he did a triple kick.
[00:31:56] Whoa, I didn't notice that.
[00:31:58] Yeah.
[00:31:59] He kicked Axel like three times while he was in the air and then landed on his feet.
[00:32:04] Well, no, he didn't land on his feet, but you know what I mean?
[00:32:06] He, he three times, I was like, what?
[00:32:08] I had to rewind that part too.
[00:32:10] He might be the most, most athletic kid in, in the show.
[00:32:14] He, he's super talented.
[00:32:16] Yeah.
[00:32:17] Between him and the actress that plays Zara.
[00:32:20] Yeah.
[00:32:20] And I know they're, they're both, uh, you know, professionally skilled in, in real life
[00:32:25] and they, they just, they make it look so effortless and easy.
[00:32:30] Um, just absolutely amazing moves from, I mean, they all do such a great job, but they
[00:32:35] were Kwan and Zara were two of my favorites to watch.
[00:32:38] I didn't like her character, but I liked watching her skills.
[00:32:43] Yeah.
[00:32:43] She was very fast.
[00:32:44] She's super talented too.
[00:32:45] Yeah.
[00:32:46] A hundred percent.
[00:32:47] I love how she would just, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:32:50] And then immediately looks up with a big smile on her face, waving to her face.
[00:32:53] Blow a kiss.
[00:32:54] Oh my God.
[00:32:55] She blew a little kiss.
[00:32:56] Yeah.
[00:32:56] Always the little influencer.
[00:32:59] Yeah.
[00:32:59] Yeah.
[00:32:59] Yeah.
[00:32:59] Yeah.
[00:33:00] Although she lost a couple of sponsors.
[00:33:02] I didn't understand why.
[00:33:04] She's just been winning the whole time.
[00:33:05] Why would she lose?
[00:33:06] Because of Tori.
[00:33:07] Tori grabbing the phone.
[00:33:08] Oh, that's a good idea.
[00:33:08] Tori grabbed her phone.
[00:33:09] Oh, yeah.
[00:33:11] Said she was a two-faced bitch.
[00:33:14] Yeah.
[00:33:15] Steals.
[00:33:15] Steals your boyfriend.
[00:33:17] Oh, yeah.
[00:33:18] That's right.
[00:33:18] Boyfriend stealer.
[00:33:20] Not making friends.
[00:33:22] Mike, it's your turn.
[00:33:24] So I just have a small point about Miguel and where he stands in this tournament.
[00:33:32] Because Miguel is probably behind Johnny, my favorite character.
[00:33:36] It's definitely Johnny, Miguel, and then probably Daniel's third.
[00:33:40] And Miguel was the first protagonist of the kids.
[00:33:44] And I find it interesting that he wasn't the captain.
[00:33:49] And he wasn't going to be in these last matches until it turned into a giant brawl.
[00:33:56] And with him as my favorite of the kid characters, it makes me slightly sad.
[00:34:02] But I'm just curious because I feel like they're going to do something with him.
[00:34:06] And I can't quite figure out what it is.
[00:34:08] They're definitely pitting him against Axel in some degree.
[00:34:13] But I'm not really sure where his storyline is going.
[00:34:16] And I find it curious how he was sort of left out of this tournament towards the end before it turned into a giant brawl.
[00:34:26] He's a cheerleader now.
[00:34:28] Yes.
[00:34:28] Yeah.
[00:34:28] Even they had that montage where they had two.
[00:34:32] There was a Cobra Kai montage of training.
[00:34:35] And then there was a Miyagi-Do montage of training.
[00:34:37] And yeah, Miguel was just kind of standing back as like an assistant coach almost.
[00:34:44] But I mean, he told Robbie, you know, hey, I believe in you.
[00:34:49] And that totally turned Robbie around.
[00:34:51] And in this episode, he was there for Johnny and Daniel.
[00:34:55] Yes.
[00:34:55] So that's his role right now, I feel like.
[00:34:59] That was pivotal.
[00:35:00] He's the hype guy that gets everyone hyped up and gets them to – he's definitely learned like how to help someone kind of focus.
[00:35:10] You know, because Chosen, you know, gave him – tried to like pull your heads out of your ass or I'm going to do it for you.
[00:35:17] You know, kind of speech.
[00:35:19] And they still couldn't quite get it together.
[00:35:21] And then Miguel's out there and he's – I liked how – that was one of my points was like, you know, I like how he was once again coming around to give – to tell people what they needed to hear.
[00:35:31] Like he found that one thing and reminded them how, you know, just because like Johnny, you learned from Kreese doesn't make you like him, you know, trying to get him to like stop focusing on Kreese so much and let that hang over his head.
[00:35:47] Because he's like, you know, Kreese didn't do what you did for me.
[00:35:51] And then, you know, to Daniel, you know, just because, you know, Mr. Miyagi isn't quite that person who you thought he was.
[00:35:59] He's not the one who did this for, you know, Cobra Kai and did what you did to Silver, which was a great reminder, you know, that badass moment between Johnny and Silver in a previous season.
[00:36:10] So I love that.
[00:36:12] I loved it.
[00:36:12] And I love that they incorporated Miguel because I love Miguel.
[00:36:15] He's – I'm like you, Mike.
[00:36:17] Johnny's like my favorite and then Miguel.
[00:36:19] And so it was kind of sad to not see him to be in the forefront.
[00:36:23] But I like how they incorporated him into, you know, even though he wasn't the one training for the final fights, it was Robbie and Sam that they, you know, kind of brought him along, I guess, to like help and assist, like be there to help coach and, you know.
[00:36:38] Inspire.
[00:36:39] Kind of help.
[00:36:40] Yep.
[00:36:40] Inspire.
[00:36:41] Thank you.
[00:36:41] That's a good word.
[00:36:41] I thought it was important that they were there, that he was there with them.
[00:36:44] I mean, yeah, 100%.
[00:36:46] Right.
[00:36:47] Yeah, that was a great speech too.
[00:36:49] I was inspired.
[00:36:50] Absolutely.
[00:36:51] It's always good when the speech that's meant to inspire, sometimes you think you're not actually moved by it.
[00:36:58] But I was moved by it this time.
[00:37:00] Yeah.
[00:37:01] I was glad that he did that.
[00:37:03] I was – it made a lot of sense.
[00:37:05] And it was – also I was giggling the whole time because Johnny and Daniel sitting there on the beach like a couple of sulking kids.
[00:37:12] Yeah.
[00:37:12] Yeah.
[00:37:13] I especially thought it was hilarious that they were about to fight again and he's like, what are you doing?
[00:37:18] What the hell?
[00:37:19] Guys, you're fucking teachers.
[00:37:21] Would you get your shit together for God's sake?
[00:37:24] You're supposed to be training us, you assholes.
[00:37:25] That's the vibe I was getting.
[00:37:27] And they do that really well.
[00:37:29] They do that really well where I feel like a lot – sometimes – a lot of the times the kids are more emotionally mature than the adults and they –
[00:37:37] Well, when it's Johnny, it's not –
[00:37:39] Yeah.
[00:37:40] That's true.
[00:37:41] It's always flip-flopping.
[00:37:42] Yeah, it's true.
[00:37:43] Yeah.
[00:37:44] Yeah.
[00:37:44] I mean, Miguel, he's – I think he's probably my favorite of the kids too.
[00:37:51] And I always thought he was kind of like the stand-in for Daniel in Karate Kid.
[00:37:58] But the show is so good at giving everybody complexity and taking turns being the good guy and the bad guy that you can't really map it one-to-one like that.
[00:38:05] But anyway, he's great.
[00:38:08] But I do think that it was good to have Robbie be able to step up because he did get second place a couple of times and he never got his chance to fully shine.
[00:38:18] It's true.
[00:38:18] And I think that Tanner Buchanan, I don't know if – I feel like he's a better actor now.
[00:38:25] I really just feel like his little – just reactions to things and when he's supposed to be centered and calm, he's so good at embodying that.
[00:38:37] You know?
[00:38:38] I don't know if it's just because he's a good guy now that I like him more and in the first season he was just a little shithead with a dumb haircut or if he's gotten to be a better actor or what.
[00:38:48] But I like that character a lot more now too.
[00:38:51] So I'm glad to see him get his chance to shine.
[00:38:53] He does a lot of face acting.
[00:38:55] He's really good at the face acting.
[00:38:57] Even his stares are just like, whoa.
[00:39:00] I know what he's thinking.
[00:39:03] It doesn't feel too – a lot of times that can feel overdone, but I think it's good.
[00:39:10] You made a point about Kenny previously doing some facial – on a previous episode, he can go from being really pleasant to super angry really fast.
[00:39:21] And I think Tanner Buchanan has a similar thing where in those earlier seasons when he was being a little shit, he could really make me believe it with his facial acting.
[00:39:31] And when he puts on a pretty smile, he's a good looking dude.
[00:39:35] So yeah, I feel like he has some of that too.
[00:39:38] The haircut is a lot of it too.
[00:39:40] That haircut.
[00:39:41] I was sad for Miguel because he got his ass kicked the whole tournament.
[00:39:46] I think it's Axel.
[00:39:48] Well, this is the thing.
[00:39:50] I kept looking for him and he was fighting Axel the whole time.
[00:39:52] He's getting his butt kicked.
[00:39:53] He's like –
[00:39:54] Axel's like freaking Ivan Drago.
[00:39:56] Yeah.
[00:39:57] Yeah.
[00:39:57] 100%.
[00:39:58] Because I think that's on purpose, right?
[00:40:00] He's never – no one's ever gotten in on him except a sensei.
[00:40:05] Aside from that, none of the contestants, whether it's in a match or outside.
[00:40:10] And I think that's on purpose, to make him feel like Ivan Drago.
[00:40:14] Yeah.
[00:40:16] That's what it felt like.
[00:40:17] And I feel like they, with the direction and camera work, they really wanted you to feel that.
[00:40:25] Like when you saw Axel and then you saw Robbie and you're like, oh no.
[00:40:31] Like it's obvious he's a big tall guy, but when you put them next to like Robbie and even Miguel, who's, you know, I think a little bit taller than Robbie, but, you know, still shorter than Axel.
[00:40:45] It was like, oh my gosh, you know, and they can't even – like just the reach on that dude.
[00:40:51] Yeah.
[00:40:52] Robbie being shorter, I mean, he's very skilled.
[00:40:54] He's fast.
[00:40:55] But, I mean, you got to really get in there to try to hit that dude.
[00:40:59] You know, it does not take much for him.
[00:41:01] And at the end, there'll be – the whole audience will be chanting, Robbie, Robbie.
[00:41:06] Just like in Rocky IV.
[00:41:08] Yeah.
[00:41:09] Honestly, I thought that's where it was going.
[00:41:12] And kind of what I was hoping for, like a Rocky IV finish, you know, but –
[00:41:17] And then we didn't get that.
[00:41:18] I have to be honest.
[00:41:20] Tori!
[00:41:21] Tori!
[00:41:21] Tori!
[00:41:23] See, now this kid Axel, I'm not exactly sure what to think of him because based on that whole interaction with Sam, he seemed like a good kid who's very talented and in a bad situation.
[00:41:34] Like Miyagi says, no such thing as bad student, only bad teacher.
[00:41:37] But now that he's got a crush on her and he's acting really psycho and he's like staring at Miguel and pushing up against him and stuff.
[00:41:45] And I'm like, what are you doing?
[00:41:46] She has a boyfriend and he didn't do anything wrong.
[00:41:48] So it makes me think he's got some bad qualities in there for sure.
[00:41:53] And the fact that no one's gotten a hit on him makes me wonder if he's going to be like kind of a big bad for the next five episodes now that Quan's gone.
[00:42:06] Yeah, good point.
[00:42:08] I don't know.
[00:42:09] But if everyone goes their separate ways, because the tournament's over, you never see him again.
[00:42:16] I could also see him like be an enemy at first and then like become an ally.
[00:42:23] And I also think that honestly, I hate to say it, but, you know, we said Quan's a great, a good actor and a great martial artist.
[00:42:32] Same with the girl who plays Zara.
[00:42:36] Axel, not as much.
[00:42:38] So that might be another reason why it's hard to get a beat on what they're trying to do with this character.
[00:42:44] He's a little stiff, I would say.
[00:42:47] Axel staring down Miguel, that made me chuckle a little bit, man.
[00:42:50] That was one hateful stare.
[00:42:52] And poor Miguel's just like the whole time going like, what the fuck?
[00:42:56] It felt like it was something out of like naked gun, you know, like they're standing right close to each other and he's just staring at him or something.
[00:43:05] Was not subtle at all.
[00:43:08] I just see the director in there.
[00:43:10] More hate.
[00:43:11] More hate.
[00:43:13] Give me everything you got.
[00:43:16] Faster and more hate.
[00:43:17] Make it very uncomfortable.
[00:43:20] More awkward.
[00:43:22] I think we're on Richard's turn.
[00:43:26] So what'd you guys think about the opening with Miyagi?
[00:43:30] I liked that.
[00:43:31] I was like, Miyagi, especially the actor, they got to play Miyagi.
[00:43:34] I was like, oh, it's Miyagi.
[00:43:35] Looking totally serious.
[00:43:37] Man.
[00:43:38] That, yeah.
[00:43:39] That was a nightmare.
[00:43:41] If it was a dream.
[00:43:42] I mean, that was a complete nightmare because I would be terrified knowing what Miyagi is capable of having to be in the ring with him.
[00:43:50] Yeah.
[00:43:52] Miyagi beat up both Terry Silver and Kreese at the same time in Crying Kid 3.
[00:43:58] We can't forget that.
[00:43:59] Yeah, he did.
[00:44:00] That was awesome.
[00:44:01] Every single time we've seen him fight, it was like nothing for him.
[00:44:04] You know?
[00:44:04] It was just no problems.
[00:44:06] But Miyagi never, you know, in the dream, Miyagi never tells Daniel everything because you're never strong enough to accept the truth.
[00:44:14] Kind of leading more into this, you know, mystery of Miyagi.
[00:44:18] I don't know how I felt about the CGI, though.
[00:44:24] We were joking that they would do a CGI Miyagi.
[00:44:27] I made that joke.
[00:44:28] Not at all thinking they would do it.
[00:44:29] You made that joke?
[00:44:30] Yeah, I made that joke in one of my, I said, oh, maybe they'll have a CGI Miyagi.
[00:44:34] Good job.
[00:44:34] And you were right.
[00:44:35] Good job.
[00:44:36] And I think, yeah, of course, it looked pretty great and also CGI.
[00:44:41] But I guess it being a dream made it more okay for me.
[00:44:45] It was very limited movement, too, out of his face.
[00:44:49] Just his lips moving.
[00:44:52] If they hadn't had him speak, I think I would have been more okay with it.
[00:44:56] But as soon as they had him speak, I was like, oh, that's just not good.
[00:45:00] It did not look very good at all.
[00:45:02] Yeah, the physics of the mouth, yeah.
[00:45:04] Yeah.
[00:45:05] That kind of took me out just a little bit.
[00:45:08] I mean, I didn't mind that they did it.
[00:45:11] But, you know, I'm always a little on the fence, I guess, if they can make it work.
[00:45:15] But always a little on the fence when they do, like, CGI of someone who's passed along.
[00:45:20] Like Tarkin and Rogue One.
[00:45:22] Yeah, and Leia, you know.
[00:45:25] And it's like, I don't know.
[00:45:27] I think it looks like crap, but.
[00:45:30] I thought the guy.
[00:45:31] He's impressive.
[00:45:32] I thought the guy looked pretty well like a younger Miyagi, the actor that we had in there.
[00:45:38] Yeah, I thought the younger actor was.
[00:45:40] Yeah, that was awesome.
[00:45:40] I thought they did a great job, you know, there.
[00:45:43] And I'm like, oh, I could, you know, believe that that would be a young, younger Miyagi in his prime, you know, whatever.
[00:45:50] But the CGI first, I was like, okay, that's cool.
[00:45:55] And then they had him speak.
[00:45:57] And I was like, oh, that does not look as good.
[00:45:59] So that's Brian Takahashi, who is in Outer Range on Netflix, which I haven't seen, but have heard is good.
[00:46:06] And I like that he kind of mimics some of Miyagi's mannerisms, like or whatever.
[00:46:12] You know, when Daniel said, if this is a lesson, I'm not getting it.
[00:46:17] But I wonder if they do this Miyagi prequel they've been talking about.
[00:46:22] Will he play the part?
[00:46:24] You know, the guy from Daniel's dream to play.
[00:46:27] Cool tie in.
[00:46:27] Yeah.
[00:46:29] Well, CGI Miyagi or non-CGI, I'm getting a little nervous about the story because it feels like they're going to drop some sort of bombshell of bad news about him at this point.
[00:46:39] And I don't want that to happen.
[00:46:41] And I want the whole thing to end on a happy note, which I'm hoping it will, you know, but poor Daniel is all torn up about this.
[00:46:49] And I'm starting to get that way, too.
[00:46:51] Yeah.
[00:46:53] That's where they want us.
[00:46:54] Yeah.
[00:46:54] Going to be hard since a kid died, I feel like, to get past that.
[00:47:00] But yeah, Miyagi, he did the thing from Karate Kid 2, right?
[00:47:05] Where he was going to, and then he would honk, but he pulled his hand back, and that was going to be the final blow on Daniel, right?
[00:47:13] Then he did it.
[00:47:14] Yeah.
[00:47:14] But he actually gave him the blow instead of honking his nose, right?
[00:47:18] Which is pretty striking to see Miyagi beating up Daniel.
[00:47:22] Agreed.
[00:47:23] No pun intended.
[00:47:24] What do you think the truth is that Daniel can't handle?
[00:47:28] I have no idea what he, I mean, I'm assuming we probably don't have any clues.
[00:47:33] I mean, I have a guess.
[00:47:35] I think, first off, I love this sequence.
[00:47:40] I think it was another one of them subverting our expectations because we've all been thinking they might show some flashbacks.
[00:47:48] And they even show the old camera effect filter or whatever.
[00:47:53] Yeah.
[00:47:53] Old timey.
[00:47:53] Sure, we all thought that, right?
[00:47:54] Oh, here's the flashback.
[00:47:55] We're going to see what happened at the tournament.
[00:47:56] And then Daniel comes in.
[00:47:58] Oh, okay.
[00:47:59] And I think he's having this dream because this is what it feels like to him to learn that Miyagi has this past.
[00:48:10] And I had forgotten, but back in the first five, we learned that he was accused of robbing somebody and beating up the shop owner or something like that, right?
[00:48:22] And we just figured it must have been a misunderstanding.
[00:48:26] But I was thinking more about what Remus said last week that maybe when Miyagi has said karate is for defense only, it's probably a reaction to something that happened in his life.
[00:48:38] And I didn't want to believe that when you were saying it.
[00:48:41] Like Rich doesn't want to believe it.
[00:48:42] But I think, and Nico, when he was watching it with me, maybe Miyagi used to be a bad guy.
[00:48:46] And I'm like, no, no, no.
[00:48:47] And I'm like, all right.
[00:48:48] Yeah, you're probably right.
[00:48:49] You know, that maybe he, after he's lost his wife and child, he became a more aggressive person.
[00:48:56] And who knows?
[00:48:57] This is just speculation.
[00:48:58] But on this show, we've seen that they make people complex.
[00:49:02] They take people that were sacred cows and give them flaws and take people who were dirtbags and make them relatable.
[00:49:08] And so the most sacred one is Miyagi.
[00:49:13] So maybe they are going to take him and make it so that he had his period where he was a bad person, you know?
[00:49:21] And that's what Daniel's afraid of and why he's dreaming about this and why he's all in doubt about all the lessons he's learned and everything like that.
[00:49:32] But I think he's going to learn a new lesson, which is that, yeah, people can have flaws, but you try to grow.
[00:49:40] And he's got Daniel's kind of showing it, too.
[00:49:42] He may not be strong enough even now to accept the truth.
[00:49:46] It's wearing on him.
[00:49:47] He's all messed up about it.
[00:49:48] And he doesn't even know what the truth is yet.
[00:49:51] Yeah.
[00:49:51] Yeah.
[00:49:51] I mean, we still don't know the circumstances around it.
[00:49:54] I mean, it could have we don't know.
[00:49:56] Was it like a freak kind of accident?
[00:49:59] I mean, we don't know that Miyagi had the intention for that to happen.
[00:50:04] You know, we don't know.
[00:50:06] Right.
[00:50:06] Yeah, we don't.
[00:50:07] We don't know either way.
[00:50:08] So we don't know.
[00:50:09] You know, we just know he was in a really bad headspace at that time because of the circumstances that had just happened to him.
[00:50:16] He was a different person then and clearly grew and learned from that.
[00:50:21] But, yeah, it just makes him I think it makes Mr. Miyagi a little bit more relatable that he, you know, maybe wasn't so perfect at, you know, every every point in his life.
[00:50:31] Yeah.
[00:50:32] You know.
[00:50:32] But but we don't that we resist it or at least some of us do.
[00:50:35] We want to just think that Miyagi was always this wise person.
[00:50:40] Patron saint of karate.
[00:50:41] Yeah.
[00:50:42] But I think you're right.
[00:50:45] Right.
[00:50:45] He's going to be more relatable and maybe a little disappointing until we realize that actually that's kind of empowering because it means that when we all feel like we're not as good as this person we put up on a pedestal, we're all kind of in the same boat.
[00:51:00] Yeah, absolutely.
[00:51:02] Was he an alcoholic in the first movie?
[00:51:04] I got the impression he was.
[00:51:06] Is that just an impression?
[00:51:07] He has moments.
[00:51:07] I mean, he got really drunk when he was telling Daniel about what happened to his wife and child and then he kind of passed out.
[00:51:14] Yeah.
[00:51:15] We know Pat Morita was an alcoholic.
[00:51:19] Was he really?
[00:51:20] I didn't watch that documentary.
[00:51:22] Talked about it.
[00:51:24] Oh, I didn't know.
[00:51:26] Rima, you got one?
[00:51:27] Well, one of the moments that I liked was Tori asking Kim about if becoming the best was worth all the sacrifice.
[00:51:42] A couple of reasons.
[00:51:43] I think it gave a little more character to Kim.
[00:51:47] I, you know, I know she's with Cobra Kai.
[00:51:50] She's really intense.
[00:51:52] But I do like her as just a badass female.
[00:51:56] I like her a lot more now, too, with this season.
[00:51:59] Yeah.
[00:51:59] Yeah.
[00:52:00] I think she's gotten a lot more relatable.
[00:52:02] And I do love her and Chosen together for sure.
[00:52:05] But I like that confrontation.
[00:52:08] I liked Tori kind of coming to grips with, like, as she's getting ready to go, you know, into this fight with Zara, who is, you know, a very competent competitor and going to obviously be pretty tough for Tori.
[00:52:21] You know, considering their history together and knowing that she's not in the best headspace now.
[00:52:27] She's the one kind of off balance now.
[00:52:30] And when she has that conversation with her, you know, you could kind of see that hesitation from Kim.
[00:52:38] And I was like, oh, wow, what is she going to say?
[00:52:40] I was almost kind of surprised when she's like, well, was it worth it?
[00:52:45] And she says, absolutely.
[00:52:47] Same.
[00:52:47] Same.
[00:52:48] I was like, OK, because it kind of like she was going to go the other way.
[00:52:51] If you watched her face, she kind of looked off to the side and kind of hesitated and then answers her.
[00:52:57] And I like that because I'm going to kind of link that to what you were saying, Jason, about Axel.
[00:53:05] And, you know, I feel like so many of these kids like Axel, Kim and even Chosen and a lot of these kids and even some of the adults that like this is all they've known.
[00:53:17] Like Kim, we saw flashbacks of her with her grandfather from she was just a tiny, tiny little kid.
[00:53:24] That's all she's known is this is martial arts and her and her grandfather's teachings.
[00:53:30] That's I feel like how Axel is probably the same.
[00:53:34] Like, you know, you can't be the best without having sacrificed, you know, relationships outside of karate.
[00:53:40] That's all they know.
[00:53:41] That's all they've had put in front of them all these years.
[00:53:43] And I feel like they've gotten to a point in different levels, obviously, but kind of emotionally stunted.
[00:53:49] Like they just don't know how to like behave outside of that.
[00:53:53] Like they're just how do we socialize?
[00:53:56] How do we behave around other people?
[00:53:57] This is all that they know is karate and this discipline and no outside life, no other outside relationships outside of karate.
[00:54:08] And I just I love how it kind of brings that to light because that's how I'm not saying, you know, Axel is, you know, I'm kind of on the fence, too.
[00:54:17] I'm like, I don't know.
[00:54:17] I feel like he hasn't done anything too bad.
[00:54:20] I know he's got this beef with Miguel that is totally like he shouldn't.
[00:54:25] But I feel like he's kind of emotionally stunted.
[00:54:28] Don't know that it gives him a pass to like go up against Miguel like that.
[00:54:32] But it's like, you know, because he's kind of stuck.
[00:54:35] Yeah, he's kind of stuck in this 10 year old mentality in this like big guy's body.
[00:54:39] You know, it's like he doesn't know how to be like emotionally regulated.
[00:54:44] Because he got such a crush on her just because she talked to him, basically.
[00:54:48] Right.
[00:54:48] Yeah.
[00:54:49] Well, like she she, you know, I think understood him and where he was coming from and kind of listened to him where he's probably not used to that.
[00:54:56] It's sympathy.
[00:54:58] Yeah.
[00:54:59] I mean, I don't know how long he's been with that sensei wolf, but, you know, I don't know how long he's had to put up with that kind of abuse, you know, but it's it's it's, you know, no matter the age or how long it's pretty terrible.
[00:55:14] So I feel like that's kind of carved, you know, and made him who he is.
[00:55:18] Um, so I don't know.
[00:55:20] I just thought it was it shed a really good light on, you know, some of the behaviors of some of the people in the show.
[00:55:26] Um, not everybody.
[00:55:27] Obviously, some people aren't aren't all like that.
[00:55:30] But I thought I thought it was a good representation.
[00:55:34] And so I really like that scene.
[00:55:36] And also, Kim just really kicked some kick some ass in this episode, too.
[00:55:39] And that was awesome to see.
[00:55:40] I think she it's going to make her think.
[00:55:44] And I think she said absolutely.
[00:55:48] But I don't know for sure.
[00:55:50] But my guess is that she said that to present a strong front.
[00:55:54] But she's going to decide she wants a boyfriend.
[00:55:58] You know, I think so, too.
[00:56:00] I think it's going to make her I think she said what she needed to tell Tori in that moment to get Tori in the right headspace.
[00:56:06] But I think after this, we might see where it's put some doubt in her mind.
[00:56:10] Like, is it really all worth it?
[00:56:12] It's going to make her question.
[00:56:13] Was it really all worth it?
[00:56:14] Especially now that her and chosen, you know, kind of had this moment.
[00:56:18] So and I hope so.
[00:56:20] And I totally agree.
[00:56:21] She she looked off like she was contemplating how she was going to respond.
[00:56:25] And I was surprised as well.
[00:56:27] A hundred percent.
[00:56:29] Yeah.
[00:56:30] OK, I'm going to go back a little bit to some territory that we already covered because I had more to say.
[00:56:37] This point is called they need their fathers.
[00:56:40] And the semifinal matches have been announced and the team needs to get ready.
[00:56:46] But Johnny and Daniel are both distracted.
[00:56:48] Johnny's upset that Cobra Kai is back in it because that means crease is back in play.
[00:56:53] Daniel's totally spacing out thinking about Miyagi having killed his opponents.
[00:56:57] And I think all that's very much in keeping with the theme of the show, the importance of good parental figures, because they both feel like they can't overcome the failings of their surrogate fathers.
[00:57:11] And chosen pulls them aside.
[00:57:14] Must pull heads out of asses.
[00:57:16] I love that.
[00:57:17] Forget crease.
[00:57:18] Forget Miyagi son.
[00:57:19] Sam and Robbie face strong opponents.
[00:57:21] Great pressure.
[00:57:22] They need guidance.
[00:57:23] Need senseis.
[00:57:24] They need their fathers.
[00:57:26] When he said that, it really got me.
[00:57:28] That was so powerful.
[00:57:30] Yeah.
[00:57:30] I was thinking, what about chosen's father?
[00:57:33] And I looked it up and he had said in Cobra Kai earlier that his father died when he was young and his uncle Sato raised him, who we saw in Karate Kid 2 was like a secondary villain.
[00:57:45] So anyway, Daniel and Johnny go out for this beach walk.
[00:57:49] But they're still aimless.
[00:57:51] And they get in this fight and Miguel catches them.
[00:57:53] And then he gives that pep talk.
[00:57:55] And what I loved about this pep talk that Miguel gave them is it showed Johnny and Daniel that they're more than their teachers and they're their own people.
[00:58:03] He says, sure, you taught us things your senseis taught you, but you guys added something new on top of it and pointed out that Johnny, not crease, turned Miguel, a wimpy, skinny little kid into a champion in six months.
[00:58:14] And that Daniel, not Mr. Miyagi took on all these kids as a sensei and crane kicked Terry Silver out of the valley.
[00:58:22] And that, like I said, that moved me because it just made me feel like, yeah, it is about good role models, but not like as a crutch that you need your whole life.
[00:58:33] The whole point of a good parental figure is they teach you to be able to someday fly on your own.
[00:58:39] Then you need to be a parental figure to somebody else at some point.
[00:58:42] And so, you know, Miyagi always looms large over the series.
[00:58:47] And Daniel in this series has always seemed kind of off and anxious and troubled.
[00:58:52] You know, he has his moments, but he's not a Miyagi.
[00:58:56] And, and so maybe that's his end point.
[00:58:59] By the end, he'll find some peace with himself where he'll realize, oh, wait, Miyagi wasn't perfect.
[00:59:05] And it's okay if I'm not, I can still be at peace with myself.
[00:59:08] And maybe, I hope so.
[00:59:10] That would be cool.
[00:59:11] I think that'd be cool ending for him.
[00:59:12] I think it's kind of ironic that Miguel, who's been a student to both Johnny and Daniel is the one telling them,
[00:59:17] Hey, you guys have already spread your wings and gone beyond your mentors.
[00:59:20] You're powerful in your own right.
[00:59:22] Now lead us, you know, he needs a leader.
[00:59:25] And then I think because of this inspiration from Miguel, Daniel is there later to be a father to Sam.
[00:59:34] Um, when she's looking nervous as Quan and, uh, the other guy are fighting.
[00:59:41] Uh, Daniel says, here we are at the moment of truth.
[00:59:44] Got a few butterflies.
[00:59:45] She goes, just one or two.
[00:59:47] And then just very calmly and supportively embrace them.
[00:59:49] They're just there to remind you how much you want this.
[00:59:52] And she nods and he goes, how are you doing with the Tory of it all?
[00:59:55] And she goes, conflicted, I guess.
[00:59:57] It would be nice to step out on the mat just once without any drama.
[00:59:59] And he goes, there's always going to be some kind of drama.
[01:00:02] You can't control that.
[01:00:03] You can only control how you handle it.
[01:00:06] I just like that advice, especially because it's easy to ignore what adults say sometimes,
[01:00:11] especially if you're in that rebellious phase that we were talking about at the beginning of the podcast.
[01:00:15] But those words carry more weight with us because we've seen Daniel go through a lot of drama in the Karate Kid movies and also in Cobra Kai.
[01:00:26] And we know he's learned from it.
[01:00:28] You know, that's hard one knowledge right there that there's always going to be drama.
[01:00:33] You can't control it.
[01:00:34] You can only control how you handle it.
[01:00:36] He doesn't always do a good job, but at least he knows what he's supposed to do.
[01:00:40] And I think it does help Sam, you know, and we don't get to see Sam fight Tory.
[01:00:43] So we don't know for sure, but she seems in a better place after that.
[01:00:47] So I like that.
[01:00:48] Right.
[01:00:49] Instead, we got to see him fight side by side.
[01:00:52] Yeah, that's right.
[01:00:53] Yeah, that was cool.
[01:00:54] I think that advice is true, too.
[01:00:56] There's always going to be drama.
[01:00:58] Yeah.
[01:01:01] And yeah, Richard, you're one of the people I always admired how you handle that kind of thing.
[01:01:09] You're just always calm and cool in the face of all of it.
[01:01:12] I've also been pretty lucky and able to avoid a lot of drama, too.
[01:01:17] A lot of it's the choices you make, to be honest, in my opinion.
[01:01:21] Yeah.
[01:01:21] What situations you put yourself in.
[01:01:24] Yeah.
[01:01:25] I mean, you were talking earlier about violence and whether this, you know, whether it's just part of this universe or not.
[01:01:32] But to be honest, I haven't.
[01:01:34] The last violent encounter I had was like 40 years ago.
[01:01:38] I've been able to avoid it this whole time, you know.
[01:01:42] I've had a couple moments where I've lost my temper in traffic and yelled at people, you know.
[01:01:53] Guilty.
[01:01:55] And who were like right next to me with our windows rolled down and me with my flipping a bird out the window.
[01:02:06] I'm not as calm as you all the time.
[01:02:08] I think many of us can relate to that.
[01:02:11] I just make fun of them.
[01:02:12] That's my road rage.
[01:02:14] That's good.
[01:02:15] Where'd you learn to drive, your grandma?
[01:02:23] You got any more, Mike?
[01:02:25] Yeah.
[01:02:25] I just got one more.
[01:02:29] It's also going to go back a little bit to what we were discussing.
[01:02:32] And that is just these giant chaotic fights that they put into Cobra Kai.
[01:02:37] We kind of narrowed down to four of them.
[01:02:39] There was the end of season two at the school.
[01:02:42] There was the Christmas party at Daniel's house that turned into a brawl.
[01:02:46] There was the Cobra Kai dojo at the end of season five.
[01:02:49] And now this one.
[01:02:51] And particularly, I think of the school fight and this fight where they just, I feel like they script and they choreograph these fights so smartly.
[01:03:01] Where it's not just a chaotic whatever is happening.
[01:03:05] It's like this skirmish is happening here between these characters.
[01:03:09] And it's narratively impactful.
[01:03:12] And this one's happening over here.
[01:03:14] And it's not just throwing random blows.
[01:03:16] It's like well choreographed actual fights.
[01:03:20] But meanwhile, there is still chaos going on all around to make you feel chaotic.
[01:03:24] In the background.
[01:03:25] Yeah.
[01:03:25] A hundred percent.
[01:03:26] And I love the way they paired off certain people against each other.
[01:03:32] And they also had different team ups.
[01:03:34] And I wrote down a list of a few of them.
[01:03:37] I'm glad.
[01:03:38] So team ups.
[01:03:39] You had Kim and Chosen team up.
[01:03:41] You had Kenny and Devin team up.
[01:03:43] So obviously both of these.
[01:03:45] Oh, I didn't even notice that.
[01:03:46] All of these were storylines that we were kind of following through this season.
[01:03:51] Hawk and Dimitri teamed up.
[01:03:52] So Miguel and Robbie teamed up.
[01:03:56] Tori and Robbie teamed up.
[01:03:58] And then towards the end, you had Sam, Tori, and Robbie all team up.
[01:04:02] Yeah.
[01:04:03] And Tori and Robbie.
[01:04:06] What's her name?
[01:04:07] Zara.
[01:04:08] Zara.
[01:04:08] Zara was wailing on Tori, right?
[01:04:11] And Robbie comes over and grabs Zara and throws her off.
[01:04:15] And then Zara said, you're going to choose her over me?
[01:04:18] And Robbie goes, it's not even close.
[01:04:20] And I loved it.
[01:04:21] That was a good one.
[01:04:22] Yep.
[01:04:22] Yep.
[01:04:22] Smooth, smooth, smooth, Robbie.
[01:04:24] Good job, dude.
[01:04:25] Yeah, you said the right thing there.
[01:04:26] That's the right thing.
[01:04:27] Yeah.
[01:04:28] You're just on the road to recovery possibly, but that's a good step.
[01:04:32] Yep.
[01:04:32] And then we had Daniel and Johnny team up against Wolf.
[01:04:37] And then you had, you kind of, in a way, had Johnny and Kreese team up against Silver.
[01:04:43] Yeah.
[01:04:44] Johnny almost like saved Kreese.
[01:04:45] That was interesting.
[01:04:46] Yeah.
[01:04:46] What the hell's going on there?
[01:04:47] Yeah.
[01:04:48] That was interesting.
[01:04:49] He owed him one, I guess.
[01:04:50] I still, now I, cause I had predicted this earlier and backed off on it, but I do think
[01:04:54] they might like at least go some ways towards redeeming Kreese a little bit by the end of
[01:04:59] this.
[01:04:59] They could.
[01:05:00] They could.
[01:05:01] And then.
[01:05:02] Wait, wait, what's the one you mentioned earlier?
[01:05:03] Wolf.
[01:05:04] Wolf.
[01:05:04] So Wolf is fighting Johnny, right?
[01:05:06] And clearly Wolf is one of the best fighters in the whole, he might be the best fighter
[01:05:12] in the whole place.
[01:05:13] Totally.
[01:05:14] And, and so Johnny is kind of outmatched.
[01:05:16] I like how Johnny would be in the middle of a sentence and then you see Wolf's fist in
[01:05:19] his face.
[01:05:20] I wrote that down.
[01:05:20] That was so funny.
[01:05:21] I wrote that down.
[01:05:22] Like in the middle of him shit talking, he just gets.
[01:05:25] And then Daniel finishes off Dennis, which I'm like, that was the only fight I was like,
[01:05:30] really?
[01:05:30] We're going to see this again.
[01:05:31] Right.
[01:05:32] But then Daniel jumps in with Wolf and with Johnny and faces off against Wolf and Wolf
[01:05:36] is, what did he say?
[01:05:38] Oh, maybe now I'll get a workout.
[01:05:40] Have a good work.
[01:05:41] Get a good workout.
[01:05:42] Two against one.
[01:05:43] And then they're sort of holding him off, but he's, he's doing fine with them.
[01:05:48] And then Johnny saw Grease and he kind of abandoned Daniel.
[01:05:51] Yeah.
[01:05:52] Yeah.
[01:05:53] He did.
[01:05:53] Holding his own, but not really.
[01:05:55] And it looked like Wolf was about to get the best of Daniel, but then they got separated
[01:05:58] in the chaos of it all.
[01:06:00] So anyway, I thought that was worth talking through it a little more detail.
[01:06:03] Oh, totally.
[01:06:04] And that, that line from Johnny was a work this out mother.
[01:06:07] Dong.
[01:06:08] And like a bell, a bell.
[01:06:10] It was funny to have like the little bell.
[01:06:12] Yes.
[01:06:12] Yeah.
[01:06:13] Clinton.
[01:06:14] Ring too.
[01:06:14] Like he really got his, his bell rung.
[01:06:17] Yeah.
[01:06:17] Rung his bell.
[01:06:18] So good.
[01:06:19] And then the people that got pitted against each other were, you had Robbie and Axel,
[01:06:24] Miguel and Axel, Tori and Zara, Johnny and Wolf, Daniel and Dennis, Gunther and the Russian
[01:06:31] Sensei, Kreese and Silver, Axel and Quan, Daniel and Wolf, and Johnny and Silver.
[01:06:40] All those people fought.
[01:06:42] Those were like, I mean, you had like a Demetri and Hawk, like fighting random people, but
[01:06:47] those, those were like the main characters that were pitted against each other.
[01:06:52] Johnny said, cause Silver was like, why?
[01:06:55] Like I felt like he was saying, why are you defending Kreese?
[01:06:59] And Johnny said, I owed you one.
[01:07:03] So I guess Silver and Johnny did fight before.
[01:07:06] Cause for some reason I, I didn't remember that.
[01:07:08] Did they fight?
[01:07:08] I think it was in season five and maybe.
[01:07:11] Was it at his house?
[01:07:12] Did Silver get the best of Johnny?
[01:07:13] Cause I remember Johnny was fighting all his goons.
[01:07:16] Yeah.
[01:07:17] But I don't, I don't remember if he fought Silver.
[01:07:20] I don't, I'm not clear on that either.
[01:07:22] Yeah.
[01:07:23] And who was winning that one, by the way, I think it just got interrupted with Quan dying.
[01:07:27] Is that right?
[01:07:28] Or I couldn't, I don't remember if.
[01:07:31] Um, I think Johnny or Silver was winning.
[01:07:34] Johnny was winning.
[01:07:34] I think Johnny, it was looking like Johnny was, was starting to, to, to take the fight.
[01:07:39] Yeah.
[01:07:40] That that's, as I recall.
[01:07:42] Yeah.
[01:07:43] That was unresolved.
[01:07:44] The wolf fight was unresolved too.
[01:07:46] Cause they got separated.
[01:07:46] So yeah, I feel like he would have won.
[01:07:49] That's what I think.
[01:07:50] I think so.
[01:07:51] Although really, if you start looking at, um, Daniel over the last few seasons, he's a
[01:07:57] fucking badass.
[01:07:57] He wins a lot of fights, you know?
[01:08:01] And as a, as a Daniel fan, I'm glad to see that.
[01:08:05] All right.
[01:08:06] I think it's Richard.
[01:08:07] Do you have any more rich?
[01:08:09] Um, no, I just have some notes.
[01:08:13] Rima?
[01:08:16] Mostly notes at this point.
[01:08:18] I only had a one with funny stuff.
[01:08:20] Do you guys have funny lines?
[01:08:22] We can take turns.
[01:08:24] Um, I'll do, I'll go first.
[01:08:26] Tori and Quan are about to fight early on, you know, when he comes up.
[01:08:33] Oh yeah.
[01:08:34] He said to Robbie, uh, you got lucky or whatever.
[01:08:39] And then he said, I should have won that.
[01:08:42] And Tori said, well, you shouldn't have got your ass kicked then.
[01:08:45] What did you say to me?
[01:08:46] But then they start to fight and Kim Dae-un just, it's like, there's been like three or four times at least this season where two people start to fight.
[01:08:56] And like Kim Dae-un just makes a beeline from out of nowhere and puts a stop to it.
[01:09:02] Enough, you guys.
[01:09:03] Yeah.
[01:09:03] Um, and it almost is comical at this point.
[01:09:07] He just shows up.
[01:09:09] Yeah.
[01:09:09] It just appears.
[01:09:11] Did anybody else have any funny lines?
[01:09:13] I got one.
[01:09:14] Um, it's more of a funny situation with a line.
[01:09:18] Uh, Miguel sees Axel.
[01:09:19] I think he is, I think he pushes Robbie or something in the middle of the scrum.
[01:09:24] And Miguel says, try that with me, punk.
[01:09:26] And then he runs up to Axel and Axel blocks both of his punches and then just punches him square in the face.
[01:09:35] That's kind of how I felt about, uh, the tournament boss Gunther.
[01:09:40] I know it was not meant to be funny at all, but I laughed when he goes, cut the feed.
[01:09:45] Yeah.
[01:09:45] I was like, maybe you should have cut the feed before the death.
[01:09:50] Like with all the blood and the chaos, that would have been a good time.
[01:09:55] A little late to cut the feed.
[01:09:58] Yeah.
[01:09:58] But it was a nice effect that that was the end of the episode.
[01:10:01] Very dramatic.
[01:10:03] Yeah.
[01:10:04] Did you have any, Rima?
[01:10:06] Um, no funny lines.
[01:10:09] Okay.
[01:10:09] I had a few more.
[01:10:11] Daniel and Johnny are walking on the beach trying to figure out what to do next.
[01:10:14] And Johnny says, maybe we need to smack him around a bit.
[01:10:18] Not actually us.
[01:10:19] Get eight to 10 locals.
[01:10:20] Give him some pesos.
[01:10:21] Line him up and let Sam and Robbie run the gauntlet.
[01:10:24] Which I, at first I read that as he was saying to hire people to beat up the other teams, but no, he's saying to train their own students by having them fight locals.
[01:10:36] And paying them in pesos.
[01:10:39] Yeah, in pesos.
[01:10:43] He's so politically correct.
[01:10:45] Love Johnny.
[01:10:45] When Miguel said to Johnny, I'm not leaving until you two tell me what's going on.
[01:10:51] And Johnny said, that's fine with me.
[01:10:52] It's a topless beach.
[01:10:54] Yeah.
[01:10:55] I caught that.
[01:10:58] Oh, really?
[01:10:58] I didn't catch that.
[01:10:59] That's fine.
[01:11:00] And then Amanda says at home, how the hell does this keep happening?
[01:11:07] And Anthony goes, it's going to be okay, mom.
[01:11:09] I think.
[01:11:12] Yeah.
[01:11:13] And those other kids too, they were on the couch.
[01:11:15] They're like, oh man, I wish I was there.
[01:11:17] I got mad brawl skills.
[01:11:19] That was hilarious.
[01:11:21] They totally do though.
[01:11:22] Good to see them.
[01:11:23] They do.
[01:11:23] I got the history.
[01:11:24] Yeah.
[01:11:25] And I like how this show will pop in characters that aren't around much anymore.
[01:11:29] And I kind of hope we get to see Sam's friend from season one and two.
[01:11:34] I forget her name, but.
[01:11:35] Me too.
[01:11:37] Aisha.
[01:11:38] Aisha.
[01:11:38] Aisha.
[01:11:39] Yeah.
[01:11:39] Or.
[01:11:40] Yeah.
[01:11:40] I think that's right.
[01:11:41] Yeah.
[01:11:41] Yeah.
[01:11:42] All right.
[01:11:43] Any notes, Mike?
[01:11:45] Yeah, I've got a few.
[01:11:47] So one of them is the tournament here before it turned into chaos.
[01:11:52] One of the rules was if you knocked out another fighter, you'd get 20 points.
[01:11:59] And I found that interesting.
[01:12:00] And I kind of put it in the context of baseball and home runs, whereas like these days the baseball
[01:12:07] players have kind of figured out the meta game in the game.
[01:12:11] And a lot of them just swing for the fences these days.
[01:12:13] We have more home runs.
[01:12:15] Some of it has to do with pitching.
[01:12:17] But I feel like the same thing would happen here where the kids are like, well, shit,
[01:12:21] 20 points.
[01:12:22] If I knock the other kid out and then the fight's over, I'm just going to try to knock the other
[01:12:27] kid out.
[01:12:27] And you would have kids knocking kids out left and right for 20 points.
[01:12:33] I just found that kind of funny.
[01:12:34] That feels like suspension of disbelief to me that a knockout would even be okay in a
[01:12:40] fight with kids.
[01:12:41] You know, like usually in these tournaments, you're not even supposed to use full force.
[01:12:45] But before you go on to your note, let me just take that opportunity to say the rules
[01:12:50] because I know some people like to hear that.
[01:12:52] So in the semifinals, each dojo retains the points they've accumulated so far, which is
[01:12:57] interesting.
[01:12:58] I thought that was all scrubbed, but it's not.
[01:13:00] And Iron Dragons have 138, Furia to Pantera 107.
[01:13:05] Well, they're out of it now, so it doesn't matter.
[01:13:06] Miyagi-Do 87.
[01:13:07] So they're pretty far behind.
[01:13:09] And Cobra Kai has 85, pretty close behind them.
[01:13:12] And then it's each match is three two-minute rounds with unlimited scoring and no stoppages.
[01:13:18] One point for a hit, 10 for a knockdown, 20 for a knockout.
[01:13:24] And when we saw Kwan versus Diego Aguilar, Kwan got 27 and Diego only got two points.
[01:13:32] And then Zara versus Maria Alvarez.
[01:13:37] Zara had 11, Maria had zero.
[01:13:39] And then Axel versus Robbie.
[01:13:42] Axel was only defending at first, but then when Wolf told him to attack, he got five quick
[01:13:48] points.
[01:13:48] And a few of those were pretty brutal, but then the brawl broke out.
[01:13:52] So we didn't get to see the rest of it.
[01:13:54] I think it's all relevant because I do think they're going to figure out a way to keep the
[01:13:57] tournament going, but we'll see.
[01:13:59] They definitely could.
[01:14:00] I agree.
[01:14:02] You know, I just had a thought from when you guys talk in, uh, maybe the brawl was to avoid
[01:14:08] having Miyagi-Do lose.
[01:14:10] Cause I don't see how they were going to win that tournament.
[01:14:12] Thinking about it right now, everyone had so many more points.
[01:14:14] Everybody was like, uh, fighting on a much higher level.
[01:14:18] Hmm.
[01:14:19] Maybe this is a way to end the tournament without having them lose.
[01:14:23] They'll be like, Axel killed Kwan.
[01:14:25] So you lose 50 points.
[01:14:28] Just kidding.
[01:14:29] It's weird.
[01:14:30] Cause the show runners are saying that Axel killed Kwan and in an interview.
[01:14:35] And so then when I watched it again today, cause I'm like, no, he fell on his knife and
[01:14:40] then he did fall on his life knife.
[01:14:43] He was going to stab Axel.
[01:14:46] Yeah.
[01:14:46] Axel did.
[01:14:47] I don't think Axel even saw the knife necessarily, but he just kicked his, you know,
[01:14:51] they were both foot out of the way air at the same time.
[01:14:54] And so I think if Axel, you can't really say he did that cause it wasn't intentional.
[01:15:00] He wasn't trying to kill him.
[01:15:03] But, uh, anyway, that's interesting.
[01:15:05] I mean, if anything, it's crease that's responsible for all this.
[01:15:09] This is why I just, I don't, I just don't know that I see a path to redemption for, for
[01:15:14] crease.
[01:15:15] I mean, he, he's been trying to off everyone with that frigging knife.
[01:15:19] He was, he went with the intention.
[01:15:23] Yeah.
[01:15:23] He was that he was intending, you know, not just to harm, but I think he was going to really
[01:15:30] kill him.
[01:15:31] And he's, and he's also responsible because not only did he bring a knife out under the
[01:15:37] mat of this tournament.
[01:15:39] Um, now he didn't know that he lost it, but it should have never been there to begin with.
[01:15:44] But I mean, he has done nothing but pump up Quan.
[01:15:47] Yeah.
[01:15:48] You know, this entire time and just make him, you know, super aggressive.
[01:15:53] Um, and that making him see like, you know, fighting dirty, um, is, is the way of it.
[01:16:01] You know, his whole Cobra Kai mentality.
[01:16:03] Um, he's so responsible for, for Quan's death.
[01:16:07] I just don't think you can come back from that.
[01:16:10] I agree with you for the most part, but I think Quan bears some responsibility.
[01:16:13] He did pick up a knife and chuckle evilly and then go towards Axel in order to kill him.
[01:16:20] And so it was a bit of instant karma there, I would say, but you're right.
[01:16:24] I mean, if you believe what Miyagi says, no such thing as bad student, only bad teacher.
[01:16:30] Well, you know, Quan was a little unhinged to begin with when, you know, met up with him.
[01:16:36] So it wasn't like he had to stretch too far to kind of get him, get him that way.
[01:16:41] Um, I just mean like overall, you know, that, that knife wouldn't have been there if it hadn't been for, for crease.
[01:16:49] It was dumb of crease to take it out of his pocket and stick it loosely in his.
[01:16:54] Why even do that?
[01:16:55] Yeah.
[01:16:56] I thought the same thing.
[01:16:58] Yeah.
[01:16:59] Dumb.
[01:17:01] Um, all the other dojos were there for the tournament before it broke into chaos and they were all wearing their gi, which was kind of some more of that suspension of disbelief.
[01:17:12] Yeah.
[01:17:12] I feel like if, you know, it's like in football, if you're not playing, you're on the sideline and you're not dressed in your uniform.
[01:17:18] Especially if you got kicked out for doping.
[01:17:21] Yes.
[01:17:21] Yeah.
[01:17:22] All those, all those students were still there and wearing their, their red gi.
[01:17:25] Yeah, totally.
[01:17:26] Yeah.
[01:17:26] Should not have been allowed to even be there.
[01:17:28] To have, Oh, I forgot.
[01:17:30] I had a point about, um, just the karate opera feel of it to me, not like a singing opera, but just the drama of it.
[01:17:39] And I loved it, but it was so over the top and I found it glorious.
[01:17:44] Like I said, almost like an anime at times.
[01:17:46] And one way that it felt like that is the efficient brings everyone together.
[01:17:51] So you can kick this Russian team out for doping and disgrace them in front of everyone where normally it would be a phone call, right?
[01:17:57] To somebody.
[01:17:58] Yes.
[01:17:58] And then the Russian sensei says, why don't you come over here and remove me yourself?
[01:18:02] And he goes, sensei Ivanov, consider yourself fortunate that your dojo wasn't banned forever.
[01:18:06] You know, it's just so dramatic.
[01:18:08] And then I love that they, when they were naming, uh, the rounds of who would fight who in the semifinals, they showed, uh, each one of them doing a bad-ass karate move as they were named our people.
[01:18:21] And the other people and most of all, well, not most of all, but second, most of all the montage of over the top training amongst these beautiful Spanish landmarks.
[01:18:31] Um, you know, uh, the split screen with the Rocky style music and even running up the steps.
[01:18:38] It was clearly inspired by rocking, Rocky training montages and, uh, Gaudi's, uh, it's called the Sagrada Familia temple in Barcelona.
[01:18:46] And then this old, like medieval, um, bridge, uh, it's just so beautiful and silly, but in the best way.
[01:18:56] And then of course the brawl at the end was just like the pinnacle of over the top craziness of all of that.
[01:19:03] Even with a death at the end, which I think often happens in opera too.
[01:19:07] Yeah.
[01:19:08] I love it.
[01:19:10] Yep.
[01:19:11] Um, was the girl who said, Oh, law to Dimitri in the middle of the chaos.
[01:19:16] Uh, was that the same girl from the bar?
[01:19:19] I was wondering that too.
[01:19:21] I don't know.
[01:19:22] No, it did not show her face.
[01:19:23] I think it probably was.
[01:19:25] Cause he, that's why he would shake his head.
[01:19:27] Right.
[01:19:27] He was like, no, no, no, no.
[01:19:28] I don't want any of that.
[01:19:29] I have a girlfriend.
[01:19:31] Don't look at me.
[01:19:32] It probably was.
[01:19:33] And she was, it wasn't just some random Spanish girl at a bar.
[01:19:37] She was out with all the karate kids going out on the town.
[01:19:41] Right.
[01:19:41] Yeah, probably.
[01:19:42] Um, and then, yeah, when, when the, when the credits, when, when, when Gunther points
[01:19:46] to the camera and says cut the feed and it cuts, um, it was, it was super heavy and dramatic
[01:19:52] and they didn't play the energy, like the super energetic music that they usually play
[01:19:58] over the credits.
[01:19:59] It's like, it was just silence, all credits, like really let the audience just sit with
[01:20:07] it.
[01:20:08] And, and it worked for me cause my first time through, I was just like, Oh my God.
[01:20:13] Like did that all just happen?
[01:20:15] 12 minutes of, of craziness.
[01:20:17] And it ended that way.
[01:20:18] It was super, super intense.
[01:20:21] Um, with like the bloodiest, like knife just sticking right out of the guy's chest when
[01:20:25] Daniel rolls him over.
[01:20:26] Big pool of blood.
[01:20:27] Oh my God.
[01:20:28] Yeah.
[01:20:29] Yeah.
[01:20:30] I mean, I was surprised they took it that far.
[01:20:33] So I was definitely shocked.
[01:20:34] Like, wow, they, they really killed someone on this show.
[01:20:38] Yeah.
[01:20:38] It would have really killed the mood if they would have come right in with that.
[01:20:45] That's all folks.
[01:20:46] See you next season.
[01:20:48] See you back here in February.
[01:20:51] What a note to come back, uh, for, for Valentine's day on, by the way.
[01:20:56] Yeah.
[01:20:56] Yeah.
[01:20:57] Yeah.
[01:20:57] Valentine's day.
[01:20:58] I think that, um, I think that would actually be more, uh, less suspension of disbelief to
[01:21:05] bring, actually bring Kwan back.
[01:21:06] I mean, we're all assuming he's dead.
[01:21:07] He looked pretty dead.
[01:21:08] It looked pretty bad, but I mean, I would believe that more than the continuing the tournament
[01:21:14] after everything we've said.
[01:21:18] Yeah.
[01:21:19] Well, yeah, it is unbelievable that they would do it.
[01:21:22] But on this show, I, I believe that they would do that more than I believe that Kwan's going
[01:21:26] to get up.
[01:21:28] Totally.
[01:21:28] I, I, I think I side with you on that, Jason.
[01:21:31] I, I could see them go on with the tournament, but I could see them throw it out because somebody
[01:21:35] died.
[01:21:37] Um, but my, my last note is just that it, uh, it's kind of a joke.
[01:21:40] It feels like Netflix has something against Russia.
[01:21:43] Uh, I think of, I think of this show and I think of, uh, stranger things, um, just
[01:21:49] being silly.
[01:21:50] Yes.
[01:21:51] Yeah.
[01:21:51] They use the Russians as antagonists here and there.
[01:21:53] And I feel like you can't use China anymore cause then China won't show your thing there
[01:22:00] and it's a big market.
[01:22:02] So Russia has come back around to being the safe bad guy.
[01:22:06] Like it was in the eighties, which is, I guess, fitting for Cobra Kai.
[01:22:09] But, um, I worked at a Russian company for six years and visited Moscow and hung out with,
[01:22:17] um, my coworkers and they were.
[01:22:20] They're lovely people.
[01:22:21] They're lovely people.
[01:22:21] And I had a great time.
[01:22:22] So I don't like Putin, but I like Russians.
[01:22:27] They're people just like you and me.
[01:22:30] Yeah, that's right.
[01:22:33] Okay.
[01:22:34] Rich.
[01:22:35] Notes.
[01:22:36] Um, I thought it was pretty funny that crease crease sure is easily distracted from attacking
[01:22:42] silver.
[01:22:43] It was like the second or third time where he was like ready to stab him in the back.
[01:22:48] And all of a sudden this time it was an announcement over the loudspeaker and he's like, Oh, oh yeah.
[01:22:52] No, no, no.
[01:22:52] You put the knife slowly back.
[01:22:55] We're being called away.
[01:22:56] I can't.
[01:22:57] Yeah.
[01:22:59] What was it before?
[01:23:00] He was like, he was about to attack silver in the spot and two employees came in to give
[01:23:04] him a back rub or something.
[01:23:05] He's like, Oh, no, no, no.
[01:23:07] I can't.
[01:23:08] Boiled again.
[01:23:10] Maybe he's got ADD or something.
[01:23:14] Uh, I thought it was pretty funny to chosen.
[01:23:17] You know, when the brawl first, uh, broke out, I think you alluded to this, Mike, everyone,
[01:23:21] all the senseis and all the adults are on the sidelines just looking with disbelief.
[01:23:26] Like what, what was going on?
[01:23:27] Kind of frozen with, with, you know, not knowing what to do.
[01:23:30] And the first time you see chosen over, he's over there beating on a kid.
[01:23:34] He loved it, man.
[01:23:36] That's hilarious.
[01:23:36] And Daniel, like some, one of the senseis is dragging a guy in a suit and Daniel's like,
[01:23:43] somebody's got to put a stop to this.
[01:23:45] And they like stomp the guy in the suit.
[01:23:47] And it's like, no dude, it's not, it's not happening.
[01:23:50] Yeah.
[01:23:51] Yes.
[01:23:53] And did you guys catch, this is my final note, but did you catch Hawk with the Hawk noise?
[01:23:59] Yeah.
[01:24:00] Yeah.
[01:24:01] That was cool.
[01:24:02] That move where he had his arms up, looked like a Hawk, got the Hawk noise.
[01:24:05] That was cool.
[01:24:07] That was cool.
[01:24:08] He's back.
[01:24:08] And he had, he had a moment with the other dude that had colored hair, like ponytails.
[01:24:16] Yeah.
[01:24:17] They kind of like stopped and were like, looked at each other.
[01:24:19] Regarding each other.
[01:24:20] Yeah.
[01:24:20] I was on, I was waiting for them to like dab up or something.
[01:24:23] They're, they're kind of like the equal of each other.
[01:24:26] Yeah.
[01:24:27] Right.
[01:24:27] The hair game is on point.
[01:24:29] Exactly.
[01:24:30] We're brothers.
[01:24:30] We got to leave each other alone.
[01:24:34] Rima.
[01:24:35] Uh, I definitely had a little flash of PTSD from season two when Kenny started running
[01:24:41] up this, uh, up the stairs to the balcony to the, cause I was like, Oh no, no, no, no,
[01:24:46] no.
[01:24:46] Nothing ever good comes from anything when they go up to a second floor.
[01:24:52] Um, so I was really hoping nothing, um, got repeated with Kenny Devin or any, uh, of our
[01:24:59] kids on the show, um, and have a repeat of like what happened with Miguel.
[01:25:03] So even Dimitri.
[01:25:06] Oh, you know, no, I can't wish that on him, even though he was super annoying, like this
[01:25:13] whole second half.
[01:25:15] Um, but no, that I was just like, no, no, no, no, no, never, never go to the second floor.
[01:25:20] Don't, don't leave the first floor.
[01:25:21] Um, and I was super excited to see the Johnny and Terry Silver fight.
[01:25:28] I've been waiting a long time for that.
[01:25:32] And if you, if you recall, it was season four, episode eight, where, um, it was titled
[01:25:39] Party Time that Terry Silver and John Kreese were still, um, working together at that time
[01:25:47] and they lured Johnny to, I think it was the original Cobra Kai dojo and Terry Silver got
[01:25:53] a cheap shot on Johnny when he walked in.
[01:25:55] And, um, so I think that is what, that's what Johnny was referring to.
[01:26:01] I'm glad you remembered that.
[01:26:03] Yeah.
[01:26:04] So nice little call back there.
[01:26:06] It was good to see Johnny get one back on Terry Silver.
[01:26:11] Yeah.
[01:26:11] Cause even if we forgot something like that, Johnny never would.
[01:26:14] No.
[01:26:15] Nope.
[01:26:16] Oh, no.
[01:26:18] Oh no.
[01:26:19] That's why I love Johnny so much.
[01:26:20] He'll never forget.
[01:26:21] I wouldn't let that go.
[01:26:23] Yeah.
[01:26:24] Um, and that's all my notes.
[01:26:27] We've covered, um, every, everything else.
[01:26:30] So.
[01:26:30] Okay.
[01:26:31] I, I only had one and that's that I'd been thinking, you know, Ralph
[01:26:36] Macchio who plays Daniel said for many years that he turned down offers to play
[01:26:42] Daniel LaRusso because the scripts were never good enough until these guys came
[01:26:47] along with Cobra Kai.
[01:26:49] And that's when he finally said yes.
[01:26:50] Like I think other actors, maybe even William Zabka would try to get him to do
[01:26:54] stuff and he'd be like, ah, I don't want to do it unless it's good.
[01:26:57] And so I think it's kind of admirable of Ralph Macchio for holding off doing anything
[01:27:04] until this show that basically lowered Daniel's status in a way, because before Cobra Kai,
[01:27:11] except for a few internet trolls, Daniel was considered the hero of this story.
[01:27:16] And Ralph Macchio was like Mr.
[01:27:18] Teen Beat back in the eighties on all the teen magazines and everything.
[01:27:21] His status was high.
[01:27:23] And so Cobra Kai introduced complexity to all the characters, gave Johnny some good
[01:27:28] characteristics and Daniel some flaws and, or maybe, you know, some people would argue
[01:27:32] just played up ones that were already there.
[01:27:34] Um, but, but not only did that level the field between these two, but honestly, it really
[01:27:42] made Johnny the hero of the story, not Daniel.
[01:27:45] And if you go on YouTube, whenever there's polls, I see polls about which, who, who, which
[01:27:52] like relationship mentor, um, teacher relationship do they love the most?
[01:27:57] And it'll have Miguel and Johnny or Robbie and Daniel, and they'll do two others.
[01:28:01] And it's always the one with Johnny, you know, people love him the most now.
[01:28:05] And I know it's because of this show for the most part.
[01:28:08] And I don't know, maybe Ralph Macchio didn't realize it would.
[01:28:12] skew that far off, you know, he's like, Oh damn, everybody.
[01:28:16] But I, you know, he knew that he was kind of messing with the character, the, the, um,
[01:28:23] sacred cow status of Daniel Russo by coming into this.
[01:28:27] And this is the one that he picked and it was the right decision.
[01:28:29] So I just, I give him props for doing that.
[01:28:34] Yeah.
[01:28:35] Good point.
[01:28:36] Totally.
[01:28:37] All right.
[01:29:17] So there's, uh, more news than usual since we don't have to worry about spoilers.
[01:29:23] Now, um, there seems to be a chance.
[01:29:27] So we've been reporting that Cobra Kai season six, part three will come out February 13th,
[01:29:33] but it feels, it seems like there's a chance.
[01:29:35] That's not true.
[01:29:35] On the Netflix Cobra Kai media page, it says part one premiered July 18th, part two, 2024,
[01:29:43] part two premieres, November 15th, 2024.
[01:29:46] The finale event comes in 2025.
[01:29:49] I think it used to say February 13th, but then they changed it to be just 2025.
[01:29:55] And, um, at the end of this episode that we just covered episode 10, it just says final
[01:30:01] episodes coming soon.
[01:30:03] And about a week ago, one of the showrunners, John Hurwitz posted some Cobra Kai fan art,
[01:30:10] which he does on his Instagram.
[01:30:12] And it had February 13th Netflix on it.
[01:30:15] And someone commented, does this confirm it's dropping February 13th?
[01:30:18] And he replied, it does not.
[01:30:20] This is fan art.
[01:30:22] So I don't know if that means it might come out earlier, you know, or I would guess not.
[01:30:29] I would guess later, I guess they took the date off because they felt like they needed
[01:30:32] more time.
[01:30:33] Not they were going to surprise us with it earlier.
[01:30:35] But anyway, we tried to make podcasting plans and now we're going to have to be ready for
[01:30:41] having to change that.
[01:30:43] I think there's some kind of announcement coming on a Christmas day or something, right?
[01:30:48] Like there's, there's Daniel and Johnny, uh, well, I should say Ralph and, uh, uh, William
[01:30:53] are like doing something that's going to broadcast on Christmas day with some kind of announcement
[01:30:58] I saw on social media, but I should have written it down.
[01:31:02] Um, no, I didn't know that.
[01:31:03] So we'll have to look for that.
[01:31:05] That's cool.
[01:31:06] Sorry.
[01:31:06] I should have written that down.
[01:31:07] No, that's all right.
[01:31:08] It's right.
[01:31:08] Good to know.
[01:31:09] We'll take, we'll keep an eye out.
[01:31:11] Uh, the first trailer for the upcoming Karate Kid movie, Karate Kid Legends dropped a couple
[01:31:17] of days ago.
[01:31:18] Did you guys, any of you guys watch it?
[01:31:19] I did.
[01:31:20] No, I haven't seen it.
[01:31:22] Nope.
[01:31:22] No, I haven't seen it.
[01:31:23] Me and Mike watched it.
[01:31:25] The cinematography looks beautiful, right?
[01:31:28] Oh, cool.
[01:31:29] Uh, but I think like with any trailer, it's kind of hard to tell whether the movie is going
[01:31:33] to be any good.
[01:31:34] Can't really tell.
[01:31:35] I have a feeling it'll at least be pretty good, but it won't be Kobra Kai as a fan of
[01:31:41] Daniel.
[01:31:41] I'm excited for it, but I also do think it's weird to have this amazing series and then
[01:31:47] immediately put out a movie that kind of seems to move on from it and not have any of the
[01:31:52] characters except for Daniel and they were writing the movie before, like when Cobra Kai was first
[01:31:58] getting started.
[01:31:58] So it wasn't as big as it got.
[01:32:01] So that might be part of why.
[01:32:03] Um, but the director, Jonathan Entwistle did an interview with entertainment weekly.
[01:32:09] They talk all about the movie.
[01:32:10] I mean, this episode is already a big one, so I'm not going to go into it.
[01:32:13] Maybe we will in one of the final five, but I'm just going to read the part where he
[01:32:17] talks about Cobra Kai right now.
[01:32:18] So they said, what can you tell us about how Karate Kid legends connects to the world of
[01:32:22] Cobra Kai?
[01:32:23] He says, I've been a huge fan of Cobra Kai right from the beginning.
[01:32:27] And that's one of the reasons I thought this was such an exciting project.
[01:32:30] I was excited about the idea that the films and the series can all be part of one family.
[01:32:34] I've had some really detailed conversations with the Cobra Kai team about just cool stuff
[01:32:40] that we can do in the movie and can make this whole thing feel holistic.
[01:32:44] And obviously Ralph is really, really close to it after all those years on Cobra Kai.
[01:32:48] And they've been involved in little steps along the way.
[01:32:51] Everything we talked about it made it into the movie in some way or another, either through
[01:32:54] Ralph or through the conversations.
[01:32:56] We're really excited that we've added another piece to the overall universe.
[01:33:01] So I'm guessing, you know, they tried to make it so that it fits in the universe, but it's
[01:33:07] really its own thing.
[01:33:08] I think the star is the 17 year old, I think Chinese kid that has to move to the East Coast
[01:33:13] and he's trained by Daniel and the, um, what's his name's character from the 2010 karate kid
[01:33:21] movie.
[01:33:22] Oh, Jackie Chan's character.
[01:33:24] Jackie Chan.
[01:33:24] Yeah.
[01:33:24] Yeah.
[01:33:25] Yeah.
[01:33:25] Oh, okay.
[01:33:26] That's interesting.
[01:33:27] So Daniel's next project basically.
[01:33:29] Yeah.
[01:33:30] I, one of the things I find really interested in is if, if Ralph Macchio was being truthful
[01:33:36] and I have no reason to assume that he wasn't, when he said that he would get offered a lot
[01:33:40] of things and said no a lot over the years.
[01:33:43] Well, maybe that means that this movie does have some good things going for it because he
[01:33:47] said yes to it.
[01:33:48] Yeah.
[01:33:49] That's what I was thinking.
[01:33:50] I hope so.
[01:33:52] Um, okay.
[01:33:53] This last one, uh, I see on Wikipedia that none of the final five episode titles have
[01:34:00] been announced except for the last one.
[01:34:04] Do you guys want to know what it is?
[01:34:07] Uh, does it give away anything?
[01:34:09] Uh, is it a little, I think I, I think I, um, know what it says, but it's nothing that
[01:34:19] you wouldn't expect.
[01:34:19] I already know what it is.
[01:34:21] Uh, what do you guys think?
[01:34:23] I'm game.
[01:34:24] If you're game.
[01:34:25] Why not?
[01:34:26] I already know.
[01:34:27] Probably gonna see it anyways at some point.
[01:34:29] Yeah.
[01:34:29] So, hey, this is Jason in editing, uh, interrupting this program to let you know that we are about
[01:34:37] to talk about the final, the title of the final episode and what we think it means.
[01:34:44] And it's not at all surprising, but I know that some people just don't like to have any
[01:34:49] kind of spoilers at all or any kind of like speculation informed speculation.
[01:34:53] So I just thought I should let you know that we're about to do that.
[01:34:56] And it took about two and a half minutes or so.
[01:34:59] So if you want to hear the listener feedback, just skip ahead about two and a half minutes
[01:35:03] and now back to your regularly scheduled program.
[01:35:06] Ready?
[01:35:08] Fight!
[01:35:09] Yeah!
[01:35:09] Yeah!
[01:35:09] Yeah!
[01:35:09] Yeah!
[01:35:10] The first episode of this series was called Ace Degenerate and the final episode is going
[01:35:15] to be called X Degenerate.
[01:35:17] And that phrase is from Johnny's first dialogue ever in Karate Kid where all, where Daniel's
[01:35:24] on the beach with Ali teaching her how to bounce the soccer ball on his knee.
[01:35:28] And, um, the Cobra Kai ride up on their motorcycles and Tommy's like brew time, man, who's for a
[01:35:35] warm one?
[01:35:35] And pulls out a beer.
[01:35:36] Here you go.
[01:35:37] Johnny says, no, I pass, man.
[01:35:39] And they are Johnny.
[01:35:40] Who are you kidding?
[01:35:41] You're still the Ace Degenerate.
[01:35:42] And Johnny says, X Degenerate tomorrow.
[01:35:44] I'm a senior.
[01:35:45] I've got one year to make it all work.
[01:35:47] And that's what I'm going to do.
[01:35:47] Make it work.
[01:35:48] All of it.
[01:35:49] And I think it's just kind of funny that Johnny starts out as a character by turning down a
[01:35:54] beer and talking about making his life work.
[01:35:57] And then in Cobra Kai, we meet him 30 plus years later, down and out in his rundown apartment,
[01:36:01] having a beer for breakfast.
[01:36:03] And it's called Ace Degenerate.
[01:36:05] And so the finale being called X Degenerate, I think is just a perfect wrap to this bow.
[01:36:12] I'm still hoping, predicting that that means Johnny will, well, he'll have his act together.
[01:36:18] You know, we would, you got it.
[01:36:20] That's what's going to happen.
[01:36:21] But maybe he'll be running Cobra Kai again and it'll all be great.
[01:36:25] I mean, that's been, I think when we were talking before this season started, when we
[01:36:30] were wrapping the previous season, that that was one of my predictions was that, and probably
[01:36:35] only prediction.
[01:36:36] And so I don't know if I'm right, but I mean, I feel like it all started with Johnny.
[01:36:40] It's somehow going to end with Johnny in some way.
[01:36:43] It's going to be like a full circle kind of moment with Johnny and would make perfect sense.
[01:36:47] I mean, I feel like that's part of where we've got to get to in these final five episodes.
[01:36:51] So I'm really interested to see how they wrap this up after this huge, intense moment that
[01:36:58] is going to impact everyone.
[01:37:00] But I mean, we still have him and Carmen's baby that we've got to get to amongst everything
[01:37:05] else that we've got to wrap up.
[01:37:07] And we've got to get a resolution to all these stories and see where our kids are going.
[01:37:11] You know, they're leaving high school.
[01:37:12] They're going on to be adults and move on with their lives.
[01:37:16] And Johnny and Carmen is part of that.
[01:37:18] And I think that's where it's going to end.
[01:37:20] It's going to kind of come into that moment.
[01:37:22] Yeah.
[01:37:23] And I think we're going to see Johnny's little girl.
[01:37:26] Yeah.
[01:37:26] I hope so.
[01:37:28] Yeah.
[01:37:28] Maybe a flash forward or something.
[01:37:32] So, uh, listener feedback in, in our post about this week's episode, I wrote, holy shit.
[01:37:38] Did you guys watch the last Cobra Kai episode?
[01:37:40] I had taken an edible, so maybe it wasn't as intense as I thought I was kind of blown
[01:37:44] away.
[01:37:44] And then this is how people responded.
[01:37:47] So, uh, we could just take turns the same way order.
[01:37:50] We went this, this thing.
[01:37:52] So Mike, why don't you go first?
[01:37:53] Okay.
[01:37:54] Okay.
[01:37:54] Brad Holt, LOL.
[01:37:56] I knew this episode was going to blow your mind.
[01:38:01] Alex Kruger writes, no, it was as intense.
[01:38:04] It was edible was the right call though.
[01:38:11] Is that me?
[01:38:12] Yeah.
[01:38:13] I would say Yana Infinger, but I don't know.
[01:38:17] Well, we will go with that.
[01:38:19] And if it's wrong, I apologize.
[01:38:23] Yana Infinger.
[01:38:24] Um, it looks like this is an exchange between, um, that y'all might've had, um, says my favorite
[01:38:30] part was when Dimitri got run over by a truck and you, Jason said, is that what you wished
[01:38:37] happened?
[01:38:37] Question mark.
[01:38:39] Um, Yana comes back.
[01:38:41] Yes.
[01:38:41] LOL.
[01:38:42] Look, I know that Cobra Kai is a show.
[01:38:44] It's already a stretch of imagination that any of these events could happen.
[01:38:48] But Dimitri is just one of the most poorly written characters in the history of television
[01:38:52] and all the billions of parallel universes.
[01:38:54] This person does not exist.
[01:38:56] His storyline is so ridiculously unbelievable.
[01:38:58] It almost ruins the show for me.
[01:39:01] I don't know.
[01:39:02] I think he's one of the more realistic characters.
[01:39:06] People are annoying.
[01:39:08] Yes.
[01:39:09] People are so annoying.
[01:39:10] It feels like he was really annoying in the beginning, got a little better and then
[01:39:14] became annoying again at the end.
[01:39:17] As people sometimes do.
[01:39:20] It is kind of fun seeing him.
[01:39:22] Cause I, when he first got into karate, cause he wasn't when the series first started, I
[01:39:29] was like, really this kid.
[01:39:31] And now when he fights, I believe it, you know, it seems like, yeah, I could see this
[01:39:38] kid doing that.
[01:39:38] He's selling it.
[01:39:40] Well, I think.
[01:39:40] Yeah.
[01:39:41] They've all become much better fighters.
[01:39:43] Yeah.
[01:39:44] Yeah.
[01:39:45] Yeah.
[01:39:45] I mean, most of them, I'm like, who taught him that?
[01:39:48] Cause I don't think it was Johnny and Daniel flipping around.
[01:39:53] Jason Badgett says, kudos to the show for pulling off such an unexpected sequence.
[01:39:57] It also had us thinking the big dramatic twist of the episode was Cobra Kai's reinstatement
[01:40:01] into the tournament and that we would be repeating some story points that we're starting to feel
[01:40:07] tired.
[01:40:08] It's not just that a massive brawl broke out and lasted for 15 minutes.
[01:40:12] It's, it's that every fight and interaction within it was tied to personal conflicts and
[01:40:16] relationships.
[01:40:17] That's what Mike was saying.
[01:40:18] Just an incredibly well-executed scene from the choreography, the pacing, the performances,
[01:40:23] the lighting, et cetera.
[01:40:25] I'm wondering if the final five episodes will feature a lot of Miyagi flashbacks.
[01:40:29] And if the experience of filming those scenes is what has led us to talk of a Miyagi prequel.
[01:40:34] I have no idea at this point.
[01:40:36] I can't even begin to predict.
[01:40:40] Yeah.
[01:40:41] No point.
[01:40:42] I'm trying to figure anything out.
[01:40:44] Right.
[01:40:44] Don't even know when they're going to air.
[01:40:49] Okay.
[01:40:50] Here's a call.
[01:40:51] We got a call and two more messages.
[01:40:53] The call's from C Brown's.
[01:40:55] No, C Brown.
[01:40:56] No S at the end.
[01:40:58] I've only said that name about a thousand times.
[01:41:00] All right, here we go.
[01:41:01] Hello, Cobra Kai cast.
[01:41:02] This is Steve, and this is going to be for episode 10 of Cobra Kai season six.
[01:41:07] This has got to be a dream, right?
[01:41:08] Of Daniel seeing a young Mr. Miyagi and he's in the Psy-Kai Tai-Kai.
[01:41:12] It's got to be a dream.
[01:41:13] Hey, that was a crazy dream.
[01:41:15] So I guess it seems that Mr. Miyagi did kill somebody in the Psy-Kai Tai-Kai.
[01:41:19] I'm not even going to try to say the title of this one.
[01:41:21] You guys said it last week.
[01:41:22] It's the name of the knife, right?
[01:41:24] Yeah.
[01:41:25] Clearly, Iron Dragon guy doesn't get that.
[01:41:28] That little almost kiss was nothing.
[01:41:31] What?
[01:41:31] Oh, Tori and Quan about to get into it.
[01:41:34] But the female sensei shut that down.
[01:41:37] Oh, Miguel.
[01:41:39] Words you should not have said.
[01:41:41] Cobra Kai is no longer a threat.
[01:41:42] And then, of course, we see Kreese sharpening his knife.
[01:41:45] Oh, so now this is Cobra Kai's chance to get back in the tournament, right?
[01:41:49] Because this team is going to be eliminated.
[01:41:51] I'm not even going to predict what's going to happen because I don't want to guess it.
[01:41:55] The results of these semifinal matches, yeah, I kind of got a guess of where they're going to go.
[01:41:59] And, of course, Daniel is going to be distracted because of what's going on about Mr. Miyagi.
[01:42:04] Of course, and now Johnny and Daniel are going to fight again.
[01:42:08] Miguel shuts that down.
[01:42:09] And Miguel with the pep talk getting Johnny and Danny back on the track.
[01:42:14] Okay, good.
[01:42:15] Oh, man, the 80s kid in me is just being thrilled by this training montage.
[01:42:20] I love it.
[01:42:21] I always love a training montage.
[01:42:22] Just wish they could have got a Survivor song to play underneath it.
[01:42:25] Okay, this ending point system is what cumulative and there's, I don't, I didn't catch it all.
[01:42:30] But, okay, lots of points to be had.
[01:42:33] You said it, Daniel.
[01:42:34] There's always going to be some kind of drama.
[01:42:36] Oh, this Axel guy is like 10 feet tall.
[01:42:39] Oh, Gunnar just got kicked.
[01:42:41] And now this guy's taking over the, oh, now it's a whole big melee.
[01:42:47] This has got to be what Terry Silver was paying for, right?
[01:42:50] That he paid this guy, this other team to attack and cause this huge riot.
[01:42:55] Didn't even think about that.
[01:42:56] The judges are getting into it.
[01:42:57] And the roided out team is Hawke.
[01:43:01] And Demetrius are fighting together and there's still like 15 minutes left.
[01:43:04] Oh, and now the fighting has gone upstairs.
[01:43:05] You know somebody's falling off that catwalk.
[01:43:07] What is the Iron Dragon since they have against Johnny?
[01:43:10] I don't see that rivalry, but okay.
[01:43:12] Hawk just called them roided out pigs.
[01:43:15] Oh, and Kreese and Silver.
[01:43:16] I did look like he had dropped the knife, I thought.
[01:43:18] Oh, and now Axel's going after Quan for what he did to Tori.
[01:43:22] I got, I've lost track of who's fighting who here.
[01:43:25] But now it's, yeah, it's definitely Quan and Axel now.
[01:43:27] Oh, and Quan just found the knife and Daniel's running towards him.
[01:43:29] I think it's Rima, didn't you predict it would be Johnny and Silver?
[01:43:32] And here it is, Johnny and Silver.
[01:43:34] Oh, and I think Quan just fell on the knife.
[01:43:36] The thieves should have been cut a long time ago.
[01:43:39] Okay, you've got to process, but I hope I get this in on time.
[01:43:44] That's so funny.
[01:43:46] Universally felt sentiment.
[01:43:48] I don't think Silver, Silver seemed just as shocked by all this as anybody.
[01:43:53] Yeah.
[01:43:54] I don't think he caused it.
[01:43:55] He just, he wanted the, he wanted the other team to be embarrassed.
[01:43:58] Just, that's what, Magi Dota'd be embarrassed.
[01:44:00] That's all he cared about.
[01:44:01] Yeah.
[01:44:02] Yeah.
[01:44:03] I think he was just trying to get it.
[01:44:05] Like he had something to do with making sure that it was seen all over.
[01:44:09] You know, like as far as being broadcast and such.
[01:44:13] That's what I think he was wanting.
[01:44:16] So.
[01:44:17] But interesting theory.
[01:44:19] Yeah.
[01:44:19] He had a line to that effect that when Kreese was trying to stab him the first time and he was like on the phone in the hallway.
[01:44:25] So it's something like blasted out to the world or something like that.
[01:44:29] So I think, I think you might be right about that.
[01:44:31] And the only beef between Wolf and Johnny Sensei Wolf is their interactions in the buffet line where they would always give each other shit.
[01:44:42] Which for Johnny is enough.
[01:44:44] Hey man, a good steak is worth fighting over.
[01:44:47] I say, that's valid.
[01:44:52] Okay.
[01:44:53] Fiona Jennifer Neal says,
[01:44:56] It was super intense.
[01:44:57] I'm also blown away, though I too had had an edible.
[01:45:01] So maybe not the objective viewpoint you were looking for.
[01:45:04] I'm actually still struggling to form words and I watched it three days ago.
[01:45:08] The choreography and camera work was some of the best I've seen.
[01:45:11] It must be so hard to put something like that together.
[01:45:14] Surely the comp can't continue after someone has died.
[01:45:18] I love this show, but kids are dying now and it triggered some emotions I don't expect to get from Cobra Kai.
[01:45:24] Walking Dead, sure.
[01:45:26] I'm prepped for brutal, needless death, but I was very surprised for Cobra Kai to go there.
[01:45:30] I could see it coming through the whole fight and I was still surprised when it happened.
[01:45:34] Can't wait for part three, but I'm also not ready for it to end.
[01:45:39] I'm ready for it to end, I guess.
[01:45:42] Just because, man, it's coming to such a crescendo.
[01:45:47] I'd rather see it go out on a high than run out of good story to tell.
[01:45:55] Definitely can't wait for part three.
[01:45:57] Yeah.
[01:45:58] Agreed.
[01:45:59] Derek O'Neill writes,
[01:46:01] This was an excellent end to this part.
[01:46:04] I was nervous that Jason was going to work out what was going to happen when he said so many people had told him this last episode was mind-blowing.
[01:46:11] I'm glad you got to experience the shock.
[01:46:15] I watched this episode twice in a row.
[01:46:17] The initial fight was surprising, but I thought they'd get it under control.
[01:46:21] And then the twist of the disqualified team getting revenge on the official was brilliant.
[01:46:25] The fight spiraling into a multi-level, all-dojo brawl was jaw-dropping.
[01:46:31] Let's feckin' go!
[01:46:33] As the terribly accented Dublin Thunderfighter shouted.
[01:46:38] Derek's from Dublin, so he knows.
[01:46:41] The death of Quan was shocking, and I have no idea where it will go.
[01:46:45] Overall, while I liked this season a lot, it felt predictable until the rug got pulled out from under me in this episode.
[01:46:51] Looking forward to the final part of the show, and of course, your podcast about it.
[01:46:56] Nice.
[01:46:56] I'm glad for Derek's opinion about the accents.
[01:47:00] I was curious what he thought.
[01:47:01] Because I was like, they don't quite sound right to me, but it's good to get something official there.
[01:47:07] Awesome.
[01:47:07] Yeah, I'm glad.
[01:47:08] I didn't even know you were listening, Derek.
[01:47:10] I'm glad you're listening.
[01:47:11] Yeah, hi, Derek.
[01:47:19] All right, that is our show.
[01:47:21] Thanks so much, everybody, for listening.
[01:47:23] Glad to have you along with us.
[01:47:24] Thank you, Mike.
[01:47:25] Pleasure to have you aboard.
[01:47:26] Yeah.
[01:47:27] This was awesome.
[01:47:28] Thanks for jumping in, Mike.
[01:47:29] It's crazy.
[01:47:30] I've been listening since 2012 to Podcastica, and it's wild to finally be on a show.
[01:47:36] It's crazy.
[01:47:37] It's long overdue, then, having you on.
[01:47:41] That's a long time.
[01:47:42] You must have been like nine years old.
[01:47:45] Ah, well, thank you.
[01:47:47] So, you were doing a Doctor Who podcast with your dad, is that right?
[01:47:52] Yeah, with my dad and my girlfriend.
[01:47:54] Yeah, we had a Doctor Who podcast.
[01:47:56] It's called an unearthly podcast.
[01:47:59] It gets its name from the first episode of Doctor Who, an unearthly child.
[01:48:04] Yep.
[01:48:04] That's great.
[01:48:05] We did the 60th anniversary episodes and intended to keep going, and I do intend to get back to
[01:48:09] it, but we are behind a little bit.
[01:48:12] But I really, really, really want to get back into it.
[01:48:15] Yeah, I hope you do.
[01:48:16] That's awesome.
[01:48:17] I'm behind on the show with a new Doctor.
[01:48:20] Mm-hmm.
[01:48:21] Shooty Gatwa.
[01:48:21] Catch up.
[01:48:22] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[01:48:23] I always get behind on that show, and then I binge it.
[01:48:26] Uh, well, that's cool.
[01:48:27] And it's, what's it called again?
[01:48:28] An unearthly.
[01:48:29] An unearthly podcast.
[01:48:31] An unearthly podcast.
[01:48:32] Yep.
[01:48:33] Everybody who likes Doctor Who, check that out.
[01:48:35] Thank you.
[01:48:35] Next episode of this podcast, Cobra Kai, season six, episode 11, something.
[01:48:42] We haven't released the titles yet.
[01:48:45] If you want to write in or send us a voice message about it, you can find all our contact
[01:48:49] information at podcastica.com.
[01:48:52] And while you're there, please check out our other podcasts.
[01:48:56] Yeah, I just recorded yesterday a Squid Game season one catch up because Squid Game season
[01:49:02] two is coming out in like eight days or something on December 26th.
[01:49:07] And so, uh, if you like Squid Game, go to Squid Game cast.
[01:49:11] You'll hear me and David and Veronica and Daphne covering season one.
[01:49:17] And then, uh, we'll have a podcast episode up for the first season two episode.
[01:49:22] Hopefully the next day we're recording that night and then weekly after that.
[01:49:26] Looking forward to that one.
[01:49:27] Hope they can keep up the quality with that show.
[01:49:30] A little more brutal than even Cobra Kai.
[01:49:34] Hmm.
[01:49:35] Hmm.
[01:49:36] All right.
[01:49:37] That is our show.
[01:49:38] Thanks for listening.
[01:49:40] Stay badass.
