[00:00:00] Hmm? Ah!
[00:00:05] Check this out. What is this? A wedding? Please God, not a baby shower.
[00:00:16] The Witch's Road cordially invites you to the first trial. It's a riddle. My age has value.
[00:00:26] I'm no fun alone. I mess with your mind. My tricks are well known.
[00:00:33] It's a gorgeous cardstock.
[00:00:36] Double-sided too.
[00:00:37] What does it mean?
[00:00:39] That it's really expensive.
[00:00:42] My age is value, no fun alone. I mess with your mind. My tricks are well known.
[00:00:47] Sounds like a witch.
[00:00:48] Sounds like you.
[00:00:50] Me, me, me.
[00:00:53] Fine!
[00:00:54] That's it. 10 points for Mrs. Art.
[00:00:58] 10 points for what now?
[00:01:00] Hey everybody, welcome to the Marvel TV cast from Podcastica and I am Jim.
[00:01:31] And I am Penny.
[00:01:34] Today, we'll be talking about Agatha All Along, Season 1, Episode 3, Through Many Miles of Tricks
[00:01:41] and Trials.
[00:01:43] Every time we say a title, I just want to sing.
[00:01:45] If I start singing, it'll be stuck in my head for days.
[00:01:49] Well, and you know, this is way too early for this, but just before we started, I was looking for new news and notes.
[00:01:56] And I do want to just throw this out there that this actually made the top 40 streaming.
[00:02:02] I think it was like 36 or 37.
[00:02:04] There's like a minute and two second cut that got put out there and it's number 36 on some streaming service.
[00:02:11] So, I thought that was kind of cool.
[00:02:12] That's awesome.
[00:02:13] Without diving into any of the news and notes before we get started.
[00:02:16] So, this was a very interesting episode for lots of different reasons.
[00:02:20] What were your overall thoughts, impressions of Episode 3?
[00:02:25] Let me just start with this.
[00:02:27] Are you still, because obviously after 1 and 2, we were sky high.
[00:02:32] Are you still there?
[00:02:33] Yes.
[00:02:34] I loved it.
[00:02:35] I thought it was really creative and hilarious that the road would present them trials that would be like this immersive experience.
[00:02:46] It reminds me of some of my favorite episodes of Supernatural.
[00:02:50] Yes.
[00:02:51] When the brothers would get like sent to an alternate reality or the trickster would like create an illusionary world for them.
[00:03:00] Or there's one where they go to heaven and they have to follow the road and it takes them to all these different places.
[00:03:08] And I was like, those were some of my favorite episodes of that show.
[00:03:12] And like here they're doing it in a different way and it's really cool.
[00:03:16] I thought the beach house was amazing.
[00:03:17] I was like, I want to live in that house.
[00:03:20] Like, it's beautiful.
[00:03:21] The outfits killed me.
[00:03:23] They were so funny.
[00:03:25] It was just such a different vibe for all of them.
[00:03:28] And I just thought that was such a nice touch to like change them.
[00:03:33] And now I'm like, what are we going to see next?
[00:03:35] And what are the outfits going to be like?
[00:03:37] It's going to be like, yeah.
[00:03:39] So I loved it.
[00:03:40] I love it because I think when I saw the beach house, I initially was like, okay, so who, which trial is this?
[00:03:48] And I don't think I had beach house on the bingo card.
[00:03:52] I know.
[00:03:53] I love the vibe that it created.
[00:03:56] Like we still have six episodes to go.
[00:03:58] And as you mentioned, I think episode two, I think we're going to get trials and tribulations.
[00:04:01] Like we're going to have these trials the next four episodes, maybe five, depending on who this scene is.
[00:04:08] I cannot wait to see the personalities of each of these characters come out.
[00:04:12] And are they going to be the obvious traits of these characters?
[00:04:16] Are they going to be a little more hidden?
[00:04:17] And I'm, I'm especially looking forward to Alice's for some reason, but I, they've led, they've led us with no idea what comes next.
[00:04:27] And I do love that because this was a surprise.
[00:04:29] I was like, is that a beach house?
[00:04:32] And how they, and how they got to the beach house was fantastic.
[00:04:35] Um, and of course I think we have our, had our first, um, I don't want to say major moment, but I think we, you know, we'll get to that with our points.
[00:04:43] But, uh, the, this episode did let us know that we're, these characters aren't all safe.
[00:04:49] So a lot of big things happen in this episode.
[00:04:51] I think we got to see a little bit of background of each character, but what is the big thing that stands out to you?
[00:04:57] So I really was focused on Jen and I, I feel like it was a potions challenge, right? A potions trial.
[00:05:06] So she was a little bit the focus.
[00:05:09] I was apparently incorrect about my, like each episode is going to focus on one person's backstory.
[00:05:15] Instead we got a little bit of everybody.
[00:05:16] Yeah.
[00:05:17] I'm fine with that.
[00:05:18] I'm okay with being wrong.
[00:05:20] Um, Jen was fascinating.
[00:05:21] First of all, I was not prepared for that dude that she saw in her hallucination.
[00:05:27] Like I really want to know who he is and what that was all about.
[00:05:30] He was so creepy the way he was like, like he held her head underwater.
[00:05:36] And apparently he's the one that bound her and took her magic.
[00:05:39] Like I I'm dying to know what's going on there.
[00:05:41] The little tidbit that we got about her from Agatha when, when Agatha was giving her the pep top and said, you know, I've always hated you or I never liked you or whatever she said, but I left you alone because I thought what you were doing was important.
[00:05:55] I'm like, what was she doing?
[00:05:56] If Agatha thought it was important, like it must've been very important.
[00:06:00] Like what was it?
[00:06:01] And then Jen also had that interesting moment where she, she pulled teen aside.
[00:06:06] You know, she's been making snarky comments about like kids aren't safe with Agatha.
[00:06:11] And then she pulls them aside and is like, watch yourself with Agatha.
[00:06:14] And he's like, I know how people feel about her, which was a great line.
[00:06:17] And then she's like, it's just, you know, she traded her son for the book of the damned.
[00:06:20] And he's like, no, that, that can't be true.
[00:06:23] And she's like, well, that's what people say.
[00:06:25] Nobody knows what happened to him.
[00:06:26] Maybe he's a demon.
[00:06:26] Now maybe he works for Mephisto like name drop.
[00:06:29] Oh yeah.
[00:06:30] Oh, we'll come back to that.
[00:06:31] Yeah.
[00:06:32] Oh yeah.
[00:06:33] And I was like, okay, that's fascinating.
[00:06:35] Like, because she acts like she doesn't care about anyone, but she, she cared about teen, you know, enough to warn him.
[00:06:42] And she also was so funny when she looked in the mirror and she's like, I look like one of my clients.
[00:06:48] Like that was hilarious.
[00:06:49] Cause that is her clients, right?
[00:06:50] Like that's who you market to when you sell skincare products is like bougie, like women who are afraid of getting older.
[00:06:57] And, uh, so I was just everything about Jen really stood out to me.
[00:07:01] I loved using the, the sort of farmhouse style sink.
[00:07:05] That was.
[00:07:06] Oh, so trendy for the last 20 years in kitchen remodels.
[00:07:09] And the sous vide also so trendy.
[00:07:12] Like, of course that kitchen has a sous vide.
[00:07:14] I thought that was hilarious.
[00:07:15] And also I just, I find.
[00:07:17] It's a sheer Zamata magnetic.
[00:07:21] Like she's so beautiful, but it's more about how she carries herself in a way that is so confident.
[00:07:30] And, um, you know, we didn't talk about it, but in episode two, when they meet, Lilia calls her high priestess.
[00:07:37] And I'm like, what?
[00:07:39] Like, first of all, how did she know that she's the high priestess?
[00:07:43] And like, what does that mean?
[00:07:44] We still don't know, but like all of my interest in Jen just deepened.
[00:07:48] Yeah.
[00:07:49] Well, and I think coming out of the first two episodes, she was not the witch that I thought she was.
[00:07:57] Uh, this one definitely put her in a different place for me, kind of connected to what you were saying.
[00:08:03] I was that whole conversation that she had with teen.
[00:08:07] And, you know, he's, he's a major point for me.
[00:08:09] Just because he sort of intertwined throughout all of the characters in this episode, which was sort of fun.
[00:08:14] And they found out, of course, that they don't know who he is.
[00:08:17] So, and just real quick, like what Agatha said, um, we'll, I think we'll bust him open later or something like that, which kind of scare, which kind of scares the hell out of me for his future.
[00:08:27] But that, that conversation that she had with him, I think two things like stood out to that.
[00:08:32] She, you know, she said, uh, be careful.
[00:08:35] Agatha traded your own child for the book of the dam.
[00:08:37] So you would ask me in the first episode, cause I just watched Wanda vision.
[00:08:40] If that book was in Wanda vision, I didn't remember it being there, went back and watched it and it's there.
[00:08:46] It's there.
[00:08:47] So yeah.
[00:08:48] Um, she's had that book for a bit.
[00:08:51] Um, and the way that he looked when she's, when he said that his snap back to look at her, um, it hit him hard.
[00:08:59] And of course, I think what they want us to feel in that moment is, oh, he's maybe her son.
[00:09:06] Um, in some form or another, uh, you know, no one knows if her child is dead, a demon or the agent of Mephisto, which of course opens up the door to everything.
[00:09:15] I mean, I, are they again, are they again playing with us, which would be magnificent?
[00:09:21] Or is this going to be when we get Mephisto and it's, I, I don't know, like I, I I'm wrapped into some Marvel lore.
[00:09:31] I get why Mephisto is such a big deal, but I mean, it almost seems overdone at this point.
[00:09:37] Uh, but it, it, it, all of these characters, all of these characters at one point or another, at least the ones that are in Marvel, like have danced a little bit with Mephisto.
[00:09:47] It just doesn't, I just don't see, I don't see it, but I do like that.
[00:09:51] They're, I think they're toying with us again, but, but we shall see.
[00:09:54] There's so much left.
[00:09:55] Yeah.
[00:09:55] They're messing with us.
[00:09:56] There's so much left.
[00:09:57] Like we're, you know, as we're recording this, we're, you know, they're about to drop episode four, which I'm super excited.
[00:10:02] We're not even halfway through.
[00:10:04] Uh, so there's a long way to go in this road, but, um, I do like, I do.
[00:10:08] She definitely had a prominent role.
[00:10:10] And I guess my question is, was that man that she saw a doctor?
[00:10:14] Was he, I, I was trying to figure out what he was and he kind of had like a oldish, like doctor look to him.
[00:10:21] But yeah, I thought so too.
[00:10:23] I was like, is he some like turn of the century doctor or is he a, a magical practitioner or like a mad scientist?
[00:10:31] Like he also had that, like, I cut up bodies in my lab and sew them back together vibe.
[00:10:37] Yeah.
[00:10:37] Like it could have been any of those things.
[00:10:39] So there was that, um, that sort of like funeral home, like sort of feel to him as well.
[00:10:44] And what he said to her, he said, you are an inconvenient woman.
[00:10:48] And that's certainly bring some vibes along with it.
[00:10:51] Certainly not of our time.
[00:10:52] So turn of the century as kind of what I was thinking.
[00:10:55] But, uh, I do think we have enough time that we're going to get these backstories, which is a lot of fun.
[00:11:00] I, I really think though that this house was built off of her.
[00:11:04] I know that it weaved in and out of all of their, well, I guess maybe we'll tell all of their stories here in a second.
[00:11:10] But because she said at the beginning, I was trying to figure out, is this specific to any of the characters, this house?
[00:11:15] And because she said, oh, this reminds me of all of my customers.
[00:11:19] I kind of thought, okay, so this is kind of the, whatever's coven or whatever witch's power is building this road.
[00:11:25] I sort of thought, oh, this is kind of their humor with her.
[00:11:27] They're going to put her into a house where all of her customers are.
[00:11:31] So I do, I do feel like.
[00:11:33] And all her products were there.
[00:11:34] Yeah.
[00:11:35] And when, so when they saw the beach house and then they all turned and started heading towards it, hers was the first foot that stepped in the sand.
[00:11:44] Okay.
[00:11:44] And then the solution was a potion that she was in charge of creating.
[00:11:49] So I do think you're right that this, that this particular trial was centered on jet.
[00:11:55] All right.
[00:11:55] So she, I, what a great character though.
[00:12:00] What a great character.
[00:12:01] I, I, and she's so fun.
[00:12:03] Her performance is fantastic.
[00:12:04] I love getting to see a comedic actress get to show more.
[00:12:12] And I think this series is giving all of these actresses a chance to have that comedic aspect, but also there was so much depth to this episode.
[00:12:23] I have to imagine that this set is a really fun place to be, right?
[00:12:28] You get all of these amazing women together in one place.
[00:12:32] You give them camp tastic stuff to do.
[00:12:35] Like they must've been laughing and cracking jokes in between takes constantly.
[00:12:41] Like I picture them singing together.
[00:12:43] Like I bet one of them is a prankster.
[00:12:46] Oh, like I just, I, I wish I could have been there.
[00:12:49] I get, I get the impression that based on some of the interviews, it seems like the cast loves each other.
[00:12:56] In a really super healthy way.
[00:12:58] I think I'm looking forward to see like, as their relationship builds on screen, but you know, as they've been acting together throughout the series, it's going to be interesting to see in episode six, seven, and eight, like how, how like tied together they all are.
[00:13:11] Well, of course, if they make it to the end, which, which I will get to in a second.
[00:13:17] Um, so let's talk about each character.
[00:13:20] Um, and maybe we'll, you know, we'll start with their, the, what we get to see.
[00:13:25] Uh, so we had Jen, of course, seeing the doctor or whatever that person was.
[00:13:30] And then we had perhaps what I, what scared me again, we talk about a show that has like true, scary bits and pieces to it.
[00:13:40] Um, Lilia was walking through the hallway and she sees a Renaissance woman.
[00:13:46] And initially I didn't, I had closed captioning on.
[00:13:50] So initially I didn't really get who she was seeing.
[00:13:52] And I think that it was her.
[00:13:55] I think she was seeing herself.
[00:13:57] Oh, uh, walk.
[00:13:59] I had no idea who she was seeing.
[00:14:01] I, I, but it was clearly like a ghost or a, like I, well, I think it was, it was creepy.
[00:14:07] It was her and she walked into that room with that, that dead woman.
[00:14:12] And then behind it looked like death, right?
[00:14:16] Like, is that.
[00:14:17] Yeah.
[00:14:17] Like a wraith of some kind.
[00:14:19] Yeah.
[00:14:19] Yeah.
[00:14:19] Well, gosh, now we're back to the.
[00:14:21] It's so funny.
[00:14:21] It crosses over so nicely with my, um, cast of the rings.
[00:14:24] Yeah.
[00:14:25] Where we have, you know, magic power pursuit of power and ring wraiths, but it, it looked
[00:14:32] crazy to me, like, like either, you know, the personification of death or just something
[00:14:39] unnatural and creepy.
[00:14:42] And the walls were all like dark and covered with like vines and stuff.
[00:14:47] It felt like she walked into a haunted house.
[00:14:50] Oh, it looked, it looked like almost a haunted house or a tomb of some sort.
[00:14:56] And, and, and closed captioning gave away the person as Lily as maestra, which I'm pretty
[00:15:02] sure in Italian means teacher.
[00:15:04] Cause they were speaking Italian.
[00:15:06] Yeah.
[00:15:06] Um, but I, again, so we get like a little bit and we know that she's the oldest of the
[00:15:10] witches, 430 years old, I think is what they said.
[00:15:14] She's the one who's trying to come back.
[00:15:16] She's the one who's trying to find her fortune.
[00:15:18] And I, I, again, so little was given of that, of her past, um, again, but it seems
[00:15:25] very, very, I'm almost afraid of her episode, whatever that might be.
[00:15:31] Yeah.
[00:15:32] It's going to be creepy.
[00:15:33] That's interesting because I thought the scariest one was Alice's, you know, she's, she sees
[00:15:40] her mother and her mother is distraught and she's telling her, you know, your grandmother
[00:15:47] died and I felt it even though we're thousands of miles away.
[00:15:50] And, uh, and then she's like, we're all cursed.
[00:15:53] We're cursed.
[00:15:55] Like what a horror, because I remembered that, that Alice's mother died when she was like,
[00:16:00] or disappeared or whatever, when she was 13.
[00:16:02] So even though we saw adult Alice in that room, it was a child who was being like told
[00:16:09] she was cursed when it happened.
[00:16:11] And I couldn't help but picture like, like a little girl whose mother is like, we're cursed.
[00:16:16] I can't protect you.
[00:16:18] Like that is terrifying.
[00:16:19] And her mother was, um, I was like, is she going to sing?
[00:16:23] Like I got all excited.
[00:16:25] If we don't get a chance to see her band saying, I will be so pissed off.
[00:16:30] Um, I, yeah, but again, I, I hope one of the trials, they go to like a rock concert.
[00:16:35] And all the, all the witches are in like concert gear.
[00:16:39] Like maybe they have to create a band.
[00:16:41] Maybe they have to create a band because we know they're good things.
[00:16:44] Um, yeah.
[00:16:45] Leather pants.
[00:16:46] Like that's what I want to see.
[00:16:47] So, so that was Jen.
[00:16:49] We get to see Lillias.
[00:16:51] Um, we'll get to Sharon in a second.
[00:16:53] Uh, and then Agatha who drinks the wine last.
[00:16:58] I mean, we get to see exactly what Jen was describing to the team when she saw it, when she heard the baby, I thought, good Lord, what is she going to see in this bassinet?
[00:17:06] And of course it's the, it's the dark gold.
[00:17:09] I don't know what to make of all this because I mean, obviously we got, we have to get that story at some point.
[00:17:16] And obviously we don't know who the teen is.
[00:17:20] And I guess the more it's leading us down the path of trying to tell us that maybe the teen is her son in some form or fashion, the more I'm starting to think that he's not that maybe, maybe he's got a little more power than we're giving him credit for.
[00:17:35] The third time that I watched it, he's very snaky in this episode in a very innocent sort of way.
[00:17:41] So he's kind of playing this balance of, he was weaving in and out of all these characters.
[00:17:46] Um, Alice specifically, but Jen at one point, obviously Agatha, he seemed to kind of be, and then at the very end with Sharon, um, he's sort of around all of these characters, which makes me think there might be more to him than meets the eye that he might be the one dictating the fact that he's trying to share.
[00:18:05] He's trying to give the impression that he is, um, the, the, her son.
[00:18:13] And I, I don't know, like, I might, I, I don't know any of the lore to this.
[00:18:17] I don't know who else he could possibly be.
[00:18:19] I think we talked about him being maybe Wanda's son, uh, who's not real.
[00:18:24] The thing that kind of concerned me was he was the one that was sort of leaning over Sharon at the end of the episode.
[00:18:31] Um, when we found out that Sharon was, was dead.
[00:18:34] Or appears to be dead.
[00:18:36] Or appears to be dead.
[00:18:37] Or appears to be dead.
[00:18:38] And I couldn't get it out of my head that he had something to do with it.
[00:18:42] Um, now if you backtrack Sharon's path sort of leads us to the house.
[00:18:49] We don't really, my, my hope was that she was going to be, she was going to have witches qualities, but she never really had a story in this other than, you know, she wanders off the trail.
[00:18:59] She loses her purse.
[00:19:00] She almost gets sucked into the ground, which brings everybody to her.
[00:19:04] This purse came from Talbot.
[00:19:05] You can't have it.
[00:19:08] Um, this comes after she tells them that this is a kidnapping, uh, which, which again, like what a great character.
[00:19:15] Um, I really hope that her death is not real.
[00:19:18] I hope that there's more to her than meets the eye.
[00:19:21] Yeah.
[00:19:21] I love her and I want her back.
[00:19:23] She certainly triggers a lot that happens in this episode.
[00:19:27] She finds the wine.
[00:19:29] She's the only person.
[00:19:31] She drinks it first.
[00:19:32] She drinks it first.
[00:19:32] And she's the only person that drinks it twice, which maybe that's why she died.
[00:19:37] Is she the one that found out?
[00:19:39] I'm trying to think about this.
[00:19:40] Who found out that Agatha didn't drink the wine?
[00:19:43] Um, I think that might've been, I think that was tea.
[00:19:47] Yeah.
[00:19:48] And then, because then Alice was like, oh, there's, cause then you're right.
[00:19:51] She throws the glass and she's like, there's no more wine.
[00:19:53] And Alice is like, well, look here, there's some more.
[00:19:56] And then the glass like magically refills.
[00:19:58] And I'm like, oh, someone definitely wants Agatha to have some wine.
[00:20:02] Yeah.
[00:20:02] Uh, that's, that's, that's magical wine.
[00:20:05] Um, when she drinks it and she's like, oh, so cheap.
[00:20:08] I, oh my God, I lost it.
[00:20:10] There's nothing worse than cheap red wine.
[00:20:12] Like, oh.
[00:20:13] Oh, she, she, she pounded that.
[00:20:15] She pounded that first glass.
[00:20:17] Um, you know, don't judge me.
[00:20:19] Yeah.
[00:20:20] I've had a very hard day.
[00:20:22] So her first drinking of the wine starts the clock.
[00:20:26] And, um, and I, you'd mentioned this before because this began the swelling of the faces,
[00:20:31] but you were, you talked about the set.
[00:20:34] And I think the thing that I love the most about this set is that it's all practical set.
[00:20:40] There was not a lot of CGI, if any, to, you know, I mean, obviously there are some things
[00:20:45] because you can't like bury a house underwater, which is where this house ended up being.
[00:20:50] But that seemed even pretty practical to me.
[00:20:53] Um, because obviously it's at another point, but you could build that on a, on a soundstage.
[00:20:58] Yeah.
[00:20:59] Yeah.
[00:20:59] So, so I do, um, I do love the practical effects.
[00:21:04] This does look like an incredibly fun, um, set.
[00:21:07] I saw some pictures on Twitter the other day of them in their swollen face.
[00:21:15] Oh, nice.
[00:21:16] Um, having kind of like, they were trying to sing the song with the, with the makeup on,
[00:21:21] which was kind of hilarious, uh, that the slide at the end seemed a lot of fun.
[00:21:26] Uh, this, this road is, is a practical set.
[00:21:30] Seems like they're trying to do it old school.
[00:21:32] And I don't know if they're trying to do it old school or if they were forced to do
[00:21:35] it old school.
[00:21:35] And we'll get to that, um, when we get the news and notes, but, um, anyways, I just,
[00:21:40] I love the practical set.
[00:21:42] I love that this group gets the sort of be tangibly in this world because it makes the
[00:21:47] world feel a lot more tangible, a lot more real big part of the problem with the MCU
[00:21:51] is we get so much CGI that it kind of takes us away from it.
[00:21:54] And I think maybe the show will prove that they can build, they can build a show.
[00:21:58] That's fantastic with great cast, great story, and the practical effects can, can enhance
[00:22:04] it.
[00:22:04] And I think, um, when you look at, at Sharon's character in this and she's clearly, you know,
[00:22:10] there's a joy to her, um, a humor to her that enhances all of these characters.
[00:22:16] And again, she, she, um, she spends this, this episode sort of trying to figure out why
[00:22:24] the hell she's there.
[00:22:25] She's trying to figure out like how to get out.
[00:22:27] She's trying to figure all of this out and nothing makes her happy until she gets,
[00:22:31] until she gets that wine.
[00:22:33] Yeah.
[00:22:33] I imagine if she were to choose how to die, maybe she would have chosen poison wine.
[00:22:39] Like at least she's drinking wine on her way out.
[00:22:42] Who said, was she the one that said I would drink the blood of a virgin if it would smooth
[00:22:46] out these wrinkles?
[00:22:48] Yeah.
[00:22:49] And that's, and then her face puffs up.
[00:22:51] Yeah.
[00:22:54] Oh, goodness gracious.
[00:22:56] I mean, that's one of the things that has motivated witches in, in mythology and fiction
[00:23:03] for, you know, hundreds, hundreds of years is youth, right?
[00:23:07] There are so many stories about people going down a dark magic road in pursuit of youth.
[00:23:15] And so for her to drop it being the non-witch in the group and knowing that like these other
[00:23:21] women are all a couple hundred years old is, is funny.
[00:23:25] I don't think Alice is like several hundred years old.
[00:23:29] I think Alice is the age she appears to be.
[00:23:31] Yeah, I agree.
[00:23:33] Well, and part of me was like, I actually thought all of the witches were like other
[00:23:39] than Lillian or Lillia and Agatha aren't too far apart.
[00:23:44] I mean, Agatha was alive in 1693.
[00:23:46] So she's not that much younger.
[00:23:48] She's just an American witch as opposed to Lillia, who's clearly an Italian witch.
[00:23:52] But I actually just kind of figured that the other witches were just normal age.
[00:23:57] So it was good to see the backstory for Jen.
[00:23:59] Um, so Sharon's path to the end.
[00:24:03] She drinks the second glass of wine.
[00:24:07] She ends up sick.
[00:24:09] Teen sort of is taking care of her.
[00:24:12] You know, she slides to the slide.
[00:24:14] Do you think that she's dead?
[00:24:16] I mean, she sure looks dead.
[00:24:18] But we're talking about magic.
[00:24:22] So I don't know.
[00:24:26] None of it might be real, right?
[00:24:28] Like it could all be an illusion.
[00:24:32] I, I think that on the one hand, killing a character in episode three raises the stakes,
[00:24:40] right?
[00:24:40] So the rest of them are like, it's real.
[00:24:43] We're really on the road.
[00:24:44] We really could die.
[00:24:46] But on the other hand, I love Deborah Jo Rupp and I just don't want it to be true.
[00:24:51] She is an amazing actress.
[00:24:53] And I love that she was sort of parody, parodying her timing.
[00:24:59] And you could tell that.
[00:25:01] Yeah.
[00:25:01] That she really meshed well with these other actresses.
[00:25:06] I mean, I love that she was brought back from the original WandaVision.
[00:25:09] She was great on that episode as well.
[00:25:12] Uh, the kind of fun little part of this too, is there was a part that brought me back to the first episode.
[00:25:22] Uh, the teen reached for the first, for, for his glass of wine.
[00:25:27] Um, cause that last wine needed, if Agatha wasn't going to drink it, he's like, fine, then I will.
[00:25:33] And Agatha stops him.
[00:25:34] And then she takes, she's holding the glass and then, um, Sharon looks at her, Deborah Jo Rupp looks at her and says, Wanda, I'm begging you, let him breathe.
[00:25:47] And it was so reminiscent of the first episode of WandaVision when her husband was dying on the floor.
[00:25:56] There was that fear in her voice that sort of brought Agatha to drink the wine.
[00:26:01] Um, I just like, and there, there was that, that's that one moment where she went from being humorous to being deadly serious.
[00:26:09] And that's not a pun.
[00:26:10] Like she.
[00:26:11] And terrified.
[00:26:12] Yeah.
[00:26:13] You had to do it.
[00:26:14] And she, she actually got wanted to drink that, the wine, which again, sort of.
[00:26:20] Yeah.
[00:26:20] And teen says, oh, so the hallucinations seem chill, which was exactly the right observation.
[00:26:25] But, um, just in a very teen way of saying it.
[00:26:30] Yeah.
[00:26:31] Um, I hope she's alive, but I, I don't have high hopes.
[00:26:35] I'm just, I'm just, well, it's magic.
[00:26:38] So the rules are different.
[00:26:40] The rule.
[00:26:42] I, I still don't know if we know who she is.
[00:26:45] Um, I don't know that.
[00:26:47] I mean, I guess there's a world where she is just someone who lived in Westview.
[00:26:52] I, yeah.
[00:26:53] I mean, if she is dead, it opens up a spot in the coven for Aubrey Plaza to fill, which
[00:27:03] would bring her back into the cast.
[00:27:06] Which has to happen because I don't know how Aubrey Plaza, unless she's chasing her somehow
[00:27:12] can get to the road, but I, I, I suspect the rest of the witches are going to be like,
[00:27:16] look, we need the, we need the, we need the other witch.
[00:27:20] So my guess is they're going to figure out a way to get Aubrey Plaza there.
[00:27:25] And perhaps they don't know what's going to be Aubrey Plaza's character.
[00:27:28] Rhea, perhaps they don't know what's going to be Rhea.
[00:27:30] Aubrey Plaza is already following them.
[00:27:33] Yeah.
[00:27:34] Right.
[00:27:35] Like she might already be there and they're going to see her.
[00:27:39] Yeah.
[00:27:39] I, I, my hinting suspicion is that this episode, this next episode is going to address that
[00:27:45] before we get our next trial, because they'll want the, they want to go to their next trial
[00:27:49] with their, um, fifth witch.
[00:27:52] So we'll see.
[00:27:53] Fourth witch.
[00:27:54] Yeah.
[00:27:54] Fifth witch.
[00:27:55] Right.
[00:27:55] So, um, all right.
[00:27:57] So.
[00:27:57] Yeah, fifth.
[00:27:58] Uh, let's talk about, I want to talk about teen a little bit more here just because.
[00:28:05] Yeah, let's do it.
[00:28:06] I, a, this actor is mostly playing kind of a fun comedic role.
[00:28:13] He says he's there to find power.
[00:28:16] I think there's more to him.
[00:28:18] He does so many interesting things in this.
[00:28:21] Uh, I guess like, where do you sit with him?
[00:28:24] Who is he?
[00:28:24] Like, is he, and that's kind of the fun little dance we get with him.
[00:28:28] Because.
[00:28:29] I, I mean, maybe he's just a teen.
[00:28:32] I mean, obviously someone special or we would know, we would know they wouldn't have his
[00:28:38] name hidden, but it just feels weird to me that it feels like they're building up this
[00:28:44] character and it has to kind of be someone important or it's going to be a letdown.
[00:28:48] It has to be.
[00:28:50] It has to be.
[00:28:52] Um, I mean, the thing is that whoever he is, he has a lot of knowledge for a 16 year old.
[00:29:01] He's like, I know everything about Agatha.
[00:29:04] He's the one who's like, we could do manual magic.
[00:29:07] Like he's got a lot of knowledge.
[00:29:09] Where did he get that?
[00:29:10] How do you study that stuff?
[00:29:11] It's not at the library.
[00:29:13] Right.
[00:29:13] And it's not on Google.
[00:29:16] And, um, he, he says he's the one who broke the spell that was on Agatha in the beginning.
[00:29:25] I think that Wanda's dying in, in the Dr.
[00:29:29] Strange movie or kind of dying, um, open the door for that, but he was like chanting and
[00:29:34] stuff and doing magic.
[00:29:36] And he's the one who wanted to go on the road and he has this sigil that blocks his identity.
[00:29:43] If he's not someone important, then like, what is all that?
[00:29:47] Yeah.
[00:29:48] And so it's got to either be a character related to somebody that we know,
[00:29:52] or it's a character that's so big in this series that it makes people go, holy cow.
[00:30:01] And I, so, you know, you talked about his discussion with Jen, where she talked about
[00:30:09] Agatha's son.
[00:30:11] We, he then weaves over to Alice.
[00:30:14] They are kind of working together, uh, on their part of bringing, um, the part of the potion
[00:30:21] to Jen.
[00:30:22] Uh, and they have that moment where the teen pointedly asks her about her tattoo, uh, which
[00:30:28] I think, you know, she talks about, uh, again, we get a little bit more history about mom
[00:30:33] because she was talking about, uh, mom playing red rocks at the time.
[00:30:38] And, uh, the tattoo was to, if I remember right, it was because of, you know, her mom
[00:30:44] put the tattoo or she got the tattoo to keep the curse away from her.
[00:30:49] Uh, and of course we get the other part of that.
[00:30:51] So he kind of plays an integral part there.
[00:30:54] Uh, you know, he had a lot of interaction with Agatha and this is, he always does.
[00:30:58] And then he ends up with Sharon when Sharon dies.
[00:31:00] Um, he's the one who, you know, helps carry her to the oven.
[00:31:04] He's the one who is sitting next to her when she dies.
[00:31:07] He's the one who closed her eyes at the end.
[00:31:10] He is at the center of it.
[00:31:12] And it's, but it's subtle.
[00:31:14] It's so incredibly subtle.
[00:31:16] There's so much subtle about all of this episode, but his role with this is so subtle,
[00:31:22] but so vital, which is very interesting to me because I, I do think that his character
[00:31:28] may end up being maybe the big bad of this.
[00:31:31] I think that would be an incredible twist if he was the big bad.
[00:31:34] Maybe he, that would be amazing.
[00:31:36] If he's like, learn all these witches to the road so that he could like take their powers
[00:31:41] or something.
[00:31:42] And he's actually a villain.
[00:31:43] That'd be amazing.
[00:31:44] Cause he's so sweet and likable.
[00:31:46] Yeah.
[00:31:46] Uh, he also said to Alice, a lot happened to me when I was 13 too.
[00:31:51] And so he's meant to be 16 in the show.
[00:31:56] So three years ago, that was when Wanda was in Westview and he was 13.
[00:32:02] That timing is interesting.
[00:32:04] That sort of lends some credence to the, he's Wanda's son thing, except that I think that
[00:32:10] her two boys were more like nine at the end of WandaVision.
[00:32:15] Yeah.
[00:32:15] Well, they were, but again, remember they were sort of at the helm at the time of how
[00:32:22] old they would be.
[00:32:23] Cause I remember, uh, in my last watch through, there was a point where she, she sort of, or
[00:32:29] Wanda was like yelling at them to like, no.
[00:32:33] Oh, and they just aged up.
[00:32:38] Which is so funny because sitcoms do that all the time.
[00:32:41] They're like, we have a baby.
[00:32:43] We have a three-year-old.
[00:32:44] We have a seven-year-old.
[00:32:45] Like it happens constantly.
[00:32:50] So, yeah.
[00:32:51] Oh, I went back and watched, uh, the last few episodes of, of WandaVision after watching
[00:32:57] this episode.
[00:32:58] One, because I wanted to know about if the book of the damned was also the dark hold and
[00:33:03] it was right.
[00:33:04] If Agatha had it.
[00:33:06] Yes.
[00:33:06] Yeah.
[00:33:07] That's, those are the same thing.
[00:33:08] Yeah.
[00:33:09] And Agatha had it in the basement.
[00:33:11] And, um, and I also, uh, wanted to see the, uh, Agatha Salem backstory again.
[00:33:19] Cause I was really curious about how I remembered it versus what actually happened on screen.
[00:33:25] And it was not how I remembered it.
[00:33:27] So I'm glad I did that.
[00:33:28] First of all, there were eight witches around her, not seven.
[00:33:31] Oh, there were eight.
[00:33:32] But one of them, she, but one of them she called mother.
[00:33:37] And I don't know if that's like, you know, my mentor mother or actual biological mother.
[00:33:42] Like, I don't know about that, but that, that witch, the one she called mother was the one
[00:33:47] who was wearing the cameo that Agatha now wears.
[00:33:50] And she took it from that woman after she like had killed all of them.
[00:33:54] Yeah.
[00:33:54] I, it's so funny how we, and I've just always just assumed it was her mother.
[00:33:59] Uh, however, however.
[00:34:01] Yeah.
[00:34:01] And while again, witches age differently, I remember thinking, well, that's her mother.
[00:34:05] She sure looks young, but that doesn't mean anything.
[00:34:09] That doesn't mean anything in the age of witches.
[00:34:11] Yeah.
[00:34:12] Because witches, yeah, they, they stop aging apparently at some point.
[00:34:16] And the thing that Agatha was on the stake for was seeking knowledge and power above her
[00:34:24] age and station, which I thought was really interesting.
[00:34:30] I had remembered that it was something about seeking power, but the fact that it was like
[00:34:34] above her age, I was like, oh, okay.
[00:34:37] So she's young and she wants, she's, she's wants power.
[00:34:41] And then when they all blast her and then she turns it around and sucks the power out
[00:34:45] of them.
[00:34:45] I couldn't tell if that was when she discovered she had that ability or if she knew she had
[00:34:50] that.
[00:34:50] Well, and that was the exact question I got out of it.
[00:34:53] I sort of felt like that was the moment she found out.
[00:34:58] I rewound that where the light changed from blue to purple.
[00:35:04] At first, it looks like it's by accident.
[00:35:06] And then it looks like she, cause she's, she's like, oh yeah.
[00:35:11] Yeah.
[00:35:12] She's super apologetic.
[00:35:13] She's trying to say like, I'm just trying to learn.
[00:35:17] And I think her head, you know, of course she wants power, but I think her head, when
[00:35:22] she was talking to Wanda, we talked about this before, she is very proud of the fact that
[00:35:28] she spent years and years learning about magic.
[00:35:31] Um, and I feel like that's kind of what she was like back then too, except she was a lot
[00:35:36] more naive and you could like, she, Catherine Hahn played that brilliantly because it comes
[00:35:41] off like, no, like mama, like I'm no, I just want to learn.
[00:35:46] And they didn't want her to, they felt like she was going to be evil and they made the call
[00:35:52] that she was going to be evil and decided to kill her.
[00:35:55] Unfortunately for them.
[00:35:56] So the fun part of this character right now for me is why she wants this power, because
[00:36:03] I think the general assumption based on everything that we know about Agatha is that it's for evil
[00:36:09] reasons, but I just, I don't feel that way anymore.
[00:36:12] I don't feel that way at all.
[00:36:14] I don't think it is.
[00:36:16] I think it's, I, I think that in the beginning it was just like.
[00:36:25] Eagerness.
[00:36:26] Yeah.
[00:36:26] Right.
[00:36:26] Like, Oh, like I'm learning.
[00:36:28] I want to learn more.
[00:36:29] I want to know everything about this.
[00:36:30] I want to be the best witch I can be.
[00:36:32] And then she went through this traumatic event where her coven tried to kill her.
[00:36:37] And then she got like extra, super duper powerful as a result of it.
[00:36:42] And I think that that trauma turned her into like, like she puts on this tough exterior
[00:36:50] of like, I'm just after power.
[00:36:52] I'm only in it for myself.
[00:36:54] But when she had the hallucination of the baby crying and then it was the book, she
[00:36:59] was deeply hurt and she was crying.
[00:37:03] Yeah.
[00:37:03] There is a, there is a softer person inside the shell.
[00:37:08] And it's, it's not, I don't think she wants to be evil.
[00:37:13] I think she wants to be powerful and she's willing to do things that we would call evil
[00:37:19] in order to be powerful.
[00:37:20] But I think it's mostly about wanting to master this craft that she loves and wanting
[00:37:25] to protect herself from pain, from being betrayed.
[00:37:29] Mm-hmm.
[00:37:31] Well, her, her problem, her, her, why she wants the power is very intriguing.
[00:37:36] I mean, if her problem with Wanda was that kind of similar to what happened to her when
[00:37:42] she was young, her problem with Wanda was that Wanda was a, you know, she got this power
[00:37:47] through chaos where Agatha spent hundreds of years learning the craft.
[00:37:52] And she didn't want Wanda to have the power because she didn't know about it.
[00:37:56] And Wanda was using it so irresponsibly.
[00:38:00] For that hex.
[00:38:00] Like, she was like, you don't know what you're doing.
[00:38:03] You, you're, you're, look at what you're doing.
[00:38:05] You're tormenting people.
[00:38:06] Like, just give me the power.
[00:38:08] I can handle it.
[00:38:10] I'll take care of it.
[00:38:11] And you could stay in your hallucination.
[00:38:13] I'll make sure that that works for you.
[00:38:14] Like she, she offers Wanda actually a pretty good deal.
[00:38:17] And Wanda is like, no, you unfortunately just taught me just enough to defeat you.
[00:38:25] But Agatha isn't like, then I'll go torture people.
[00:38:29] Right.
[00:38:29] She's like, just, you don't know what you're doing.
[00:38:32] And when she's like, she like holds Wanda's kids hostage, but she knows they're not real.
[00:38:38] So it's not like she's hurting actual little kids.
[00:38:41] Like they're, they're basically like holodeck characters, you know?
[00:38:47] And I don't know.
[00:38:49] I have a lot of sympathy for Agatha.
[00:38:50] Well, and if you remember the scene in the episode before the kidnapping off screen takes place, she's great with those two kids.
[00:39:00] She's absolutely fantastic with those two kids.
[00:39:03] And, you know, again, I think, I mean, obviously, obviously there's a thin line there.
[00:39:08] And I think the, the, the balance of Agatha's character is certainly along that line.
[00:39:14] Like you can look at it in one of two ways.
[00:39:16] And I think it's fair assessment to say it's a little more on the evil side, or perhaps it's not as evil as we thought.
[00:39:23] That's going to be kind of the unwrapping of her character and how her character gets unwrapped.
[00:39:27] Whether, I mean, obviously the driving force for her in this is to get to the end of the road so that she can get this power that she's already gotten before.
[00:39:38] Which again is, it's not something that they talk a lot about in the series.
[00:39:44] I think it's that undercurrent, but she's done this before.
[00:39:47] And the big question is why?
[00:39:48] Was it simply to get the power?
[00:39:50] Is it related to her son?
[00:39:52] Is it related to something else that we don't know about?
[00:39:55] How is her old coven a part of this?
[00:39:58] Is her old coven related to the Sinister Seven, which we didn't, or did I get that?
[00:40:02] That's not right.
[00:40:03] The Salem Seven.
[00:40:05] And, you know, there's just so many unknowns.
[00:40:08] It's one of those things where the further along that we get, because this was one of those episodes where every single character, except for Sharon really, has something unwrapped, but not completely.
[00:40:23] So all of our questions going into episode three were expounded by five.
[00:40:29] And maybe more than that, because each little caveat of each character opens up, including Sharon's death, opens up something else.
[00:40:38] New questions.
[00:40:39] Yeah.
[00:40:39] Yeah.
[00:40:39] And I just, I don't know why I feel this way, because most shows that open up this many questions leave me with the fear of, oh, gosh, they're not going to answer these questions.
[00:40:51] But I have faith in Jack Schaefer based on WandaVision.
[00:40:55] Because WandaVision in the beginning was like, what is going on?
[00:40:59] I'm so lost.
[00:41:01] This is weird.
[00:41:02] What's happening?
[00:41:03] And then it all came together in the end.
[00:41:06] So fast and so well done.
[00:41:08] And like when it came together, it was like, like, like that satisfying, like Tetris moment when you like finish the thing and then all the rows disappear.
[00:41:18] It was like that.
[00:41:18] It was like it all just came together.
[00:41:20] And so I, I have faith that she is going to like send us on this journey.
[00:41:27] We're on our own road where we go in all these different directions.
[00:41:30] And then at the end, all of the things that we learned are going to come together in some way that makes sense.
[00:41:37] That's that's that's the last prediction I'm going to make, because the show is already like I can't predict anything.
[00:41:43] Well, it's super it's super sad.
[00:41:45] I guess.
[00:41:48] And before we kind of get to our last little notes here, I do want to just make note of Lily not wanting to get into the oven.
[00:41:58] Because because.
[00:41:59] Yeah.
[00:41:59] That doesn't turn out well for which she's like, what am I friend?
[00:42:03] This happened to one of my friends.
[00:42:04] And I'm thinking, holy crap, she's related to the witch from it's.
[00:42:07] Yeah.
[00:42:10] So there was also a very brief moment.
[00:42:13] With Lilia when she and Agatha are getting the skincare products.
[00:42:18] She says, try to save Agatha.
[00:42:20] And then it's like, she doesn't remember that she said it.
[00:42:23] And Agatha is like, I'm on board with that plan.
[00:42:25] But right now we have to do this.
[00:42:26] And I'm like, what was that?
[00:42:27] That was a vision.
[00:42:28] She had some kind of.
[00:42:30] Vision.
[00:42:30] And what I love about that is you noticed it right away.
[00:42:34] I saw I the third time I watched it.
[00:42:37] I was like, wait a second.
[00:42:40] That was one of her visions.
[00:42:42] Yeah.
[00:42:44] And again, talk about the subtleties, which is my last point is.
[00:42:49] This show has so if you watch, if you really watch, there's so many little subtle things.
[00:42:56] But when Agatha is talking to each of the witches about why they're going on this journey, she, if you were paying attention, like she, she was doing it with.
[00:43:08] She was.
[00:43:08] I was like, watch that scene again and watch how Agatha says it to each character.
[00:43:13] It looks like she's trying.
[00:43:14] Like right to their face.
[00:43:15] But the way she moves her hand, I was like, wait, she doesn't have her power.
[00:43:19] What's she doing?
[00:43:20] She, she didn't just say it.
[00:43:21] Like she, she does that little witchy thing to each of them.
[00:43:24] And I'm like.
[00:43:25] Oh, right.
[00:43:26] But she has no power, but it's an instinct, right?
[00:43:28] That's a muscle memory.
[00:43:29] So, and that's what I'm like.
[00:43:30] Was it?
[00:43:31] Or is there more to it?
[00:43:32] Because she doesn't have any power right now.
[00:43:35] Or does she?
[00:43:37] I don't know.
[00:43:38] I don't think she does because we saw that scene when she was all alone.
[00:43:43] Oh.
[00:43:43] So she wasn't performing to anyone and she couldn't, she couldn't get any power going.
[00:43:48] So I think that's true.
[00:43:49] I wouldn't put it past her to hide power, but I don't think she has any.
[00:43:52] Was the end of the episode when teen says Sharon's dead and she says, who's Sharon?
[00:44:01] Yeah.
[00:44:02] Was that humor?
[00:44:04] Because is she still, is she still like in a little bit of a hay?
[00:44:10] Yeah.
[00:44:11] And she, and also she's like, she doesn't really care about anyone else.
[00:44:15] Right.
[00:44:16] So she's like, every time that Sharon had said, my name is Sharon.
[00:44:20] She was like, whatever.
[00:44:21] Well.
[00:44:22] So she, she didn't take it on.
[00:44:24] Many of them just called her.
[00:44:26] She still called her Mrs. Hart.
[00:44:27] And many of the others just took that on and just started calling her Mrs. Hart.
[00:44:31] Which I thought was actually funny because most of them called her Sharon at first.
[00:44:35] And then throughout the episode, different characters were calling her Mrs. Hart.
[00:44:39] But teen, I think called her.
[00:44:41] I think they're all a little confused.
[00:44:43] They're like, what is her actual name?
[00:44:47] I, I, I did notice that.
[00:44:50] So at the beginning when they're on the road, the road is covered with like blue petals or leaves or something.
[00:44:59] They're sort of like a lavendery blue.
[00:45:00] And then they go to the beach house.
[00:45:02] They go through the oven, the water slide, all that just looked like fun.
[00:45:06] And it was all red when they came out.
[00:45:08] Yeah.
[00:45:08] The trees were red.
[00:45:10] Yeah.
[00:45:10] There were these red like autumn leaves.
[00:45:12] It really stood out.
[00:45:14] Yeah.
[00:45:15] Yeah.
[00:45:16] And I'm like, okay, so we have, we're in a new section of the road.
[00:45:19] Like something's different now.
[00:45:22] What's it going to be?
[00:45:23] Yeah.
[00:45:24] I saw the red and I thought, Wanda?
[00:45:26] Sorry.
[00:45:27] I can't get, I can't get her out of my head.
[00:45:30] There's only so many colors, right?
[00:45:31] So my, my, my only letdown in this episode, and it's, it's not a letdown at all, was that Aubrey Plaza hasn't been a part of it.
[00:45:40] I think that perhaps Sharon's demise, as you noted, is, is going to lead to her.
[00:45:45] So I think that's probably my, my big hope for the next episode is that Aubrey Plaza is reintroduced just because it's going to cause Agatha so much angst.
[00:45:53] And I think when you give, when you give Catherine Han like that kind of cards, those kinds of cards to deal.
[00:45:59] And Aubrey Plaza in every interview that I've seen has been so amazingly ecstatic about the relationship that her and Catherine Han had really the whole cast.
[00:46:09] But her, her, her, she clearly loved the interaction between the two, which obviously means these next few episodes.
[00:46:18] Um, if she comes back in this one, there's going to be a lot more.
[00:46:21] There's just so much that we've yet to see, uh, which leads me to think that we're not even, I mean, like I said, we have six episodes laugh, which is so tasty.
[00:46:31] I know it's going to go by in the blink of an eye.
[00:46:33] I know it's so much.
[00:46:34] Um, but I think that's good though.
[00:46:36] And we're ending on Halloween.
[00:46:37] That's perfect.
[00:46:38] Yeah.
[00:46:39] Yeah.
[00:46:39] So, and we promise we're going to get this podcast caught up hopefully by night.
[00:46:44] Yeah, we will.
[00:46:44] Yeah.
[00:46:45] Hey, Hurricane Helene could not.
[00:46:47] We didn't have any ability to avoid that.
[00:46:50] It really mucked up all of our logistics and, uh, we, we will get back on track.
[00:46:55] For those, for those that don't know, I do live in North Carolina and while it didn't affect my family, it affected a lot of different parts of my life.
[00:47:02] Um, including the power, uh, we didn't have power for a couple of days because thankfully all the people who could add power to my house were helping the people who needed it the most.
[00:47:10] So, um, it did, it did cause a chaotic few days for us, but we are back at it.
[00:47:15] And of course, uh, we have, um, some of us heading to Galveston for the Zed Head retreat, which is going to put us behind.
[00:47:22] Well, we'll see.
[00:47:23] There might be a surprise or two in the next week.
[00:47:25] So we shall see.
[00:47:27] But, um, we'll see how that goes.
[00:47:28] I think, I think that's really it.
[00:47:30] I don't see any other notes here.
[00:47:33] I had one other thing.
[00:47:35] So, uh, we talked about the necklaces last week and I hadn't paid close attention to them.
[00:47:41] So I made a point of watching this time.
[00:47:44] And when they transition into the beach house, um, some of their jewelry changes, which I thought was really interesting.
[00:47:51] So when they're in their regular clothes, um, Agatha has the, you know, maiden mother crone cameo locket and Lillia's locket or Lillia's necklace is rectangular like a tarot card.
[00:48:06] But I didn't recognize it as a tarot symbol.
[00:48:09] It was like a circle with hands on either side of it.
[00:48:13] It almost looked like a sun in the middle, but I couldn't really tell if it was a sun or not.
[00:48:17] A sun or a moon, something like that.
[00:48:19] The moon would fit with the moons on the doors.
[00:48:21] And of course the, the cameo.
[00:48:24] And that's kind of witchy.
[00:48:25] Yeah.
[00:48:25] Yeah.
[00:48:26] So that wasn't, that wasn't a tarot card.
[00:48:27] I was wondering if that was a tarot card or not, but, uh, I guess not.
[00:48:31] I don't think it is, but maybe it's some other symbol.
[00:48:34] And then Jen had, um, a crystal on her necklace, but then when she was in her beach house outfit, it was like this heart shaped.
[00:48:44] It, it almost looked like a little vial that you would carry like a potion in.
[00:48:50] Um, and I don't remember if Lillia, yo, Lillia had the same necklace.
[00:48:55] And, um, the one that was most interesting to me was Alice because when their clothes changed, she went my amulet.
[00:49:01] And then she's like, Oh, I still have it.
[00:49:03] I still have it.
[00:49:04] And what she's wearing.
[00:49:06] Did her, did her mom have it on?
[00:49:08] Oh God.
[00:49:08] Now I got to go back and look at that.
[00:49:10] I don't remember.
[00:49:10] Her mom had a necklace on.
[00:49:12] I know that.
[00:49:13] And I can't now remember if it was the one that matches.
[00:49:15] Yeah.
[00:49:17] Hell, um, Alice's has all these, um, little charms on it that all look like sort of good luck charm.
[00:49:25] Neck, like little, almost like a charm bracelet, but a charm necklace with all these little like symbols and things on it.
[00:49:32] Uh, I would, I would wear that in a heartbeat.
[00:49:34] That is so my taste.
[00:49:35] Um, and, uh, and she said something about like my mother gave these to me.
[00:49:44] So now we have to look, they're not just protective.
[00:49:48] They are also emotionally important.
[00:49:50] So you, so do you feel like these necklaces are part of who they are?
[00:49:56] So there, I, my hope was that they were all tarot cards, but they're not.
[00:49:59] So obviously these amulets, these not amulets, these necklaces that they're wearing are connected to their power and their magic.
[00:50:06] Yeah.
[00:50:07] Yeah.
[00:50:07] It seems like they're personal to each witch.
[00:50:10] Yeah.
[00:50:11] And I thought it was really interesting that, that Jen's changed.
[00:50:15] Yeah.
[00:50:16] I don't know what that means.
[00:50:17] Maybe it changed because she.
[00:50:19] Yeah.
[00:50:19] Is bound or maybe she's.
[00:50:22] But she was bound before.
[00:50:23] I don't know.
[00:50:25] It's.
[00:50:26] Yeah.
[00:50:26] I don't know.
[00:50:26] She couldn't.
[00:50:27] Maybe we'll find out.
[00:50:27] It's not like she's unbound now.
[00:50:29] So she, as teen said, she had to use the practical part of magic.
[00:50:34] So, um.
[00:50:35] Yeah.
[00:50:36] Well, I guess, I guess it's, it's something to, to, to, to pay attention to.
[00:50:42] And now I don't remember if Rio had a necklace on, so hopefully we'll get to see that in the future.
[00:50:48] Oh yeah.
[00:50:48] She was wearing like a, if she was wearing a necklace, it could have been hidden because her outfit was like a hood cowl kind of thing.
[00:50:58] All of her neck area was covered.
[00:51:00] So, but now I'm going to have to go back and look at episode one and see if I see a necklace on her.
[00:51:06] Um, this, this show is so layered, right?
[00:51:08] Like every time I watch an episode, I'm like, oh, I gotta, now I gotta go look at an earlier episode and see how they connect.
[00:51:14] I go back and forth with a lot of these Marvel series.
[00:51:18] And I always come back to WandaVision as being my favorite because of the complexities that we talked about earlier.
[00:51:24] Agatha.
[00:51:26] And perhaps if I would have podcasted about a lot of these other Marvel shows, maybe that would have made me look at it a little deeper, but I don't think so.
[00:51:33] I think that, that Jack Schaefer has done a magnificent job of creating a culture on the set of hiring the right people to create a culture on the set in which, uh, the story that she wants to tell is, is beautifully told in just a very basic sense.
[00:51:52] Yeah.
[00:51:53] Yeah.
[00:51:53] They're very much relying on the acting and the story and all of the fancy bells and whistles just serve that.
[00:52:02] It's not, it's not like, you know, I don't know.
[00:52:05] I feel like when I saw Loki, everyone was talking about like, oh, they shot it in the volume.
[00:52:10] And it was just like, the volume is so cool and look what they can do in the volume.
[00:52:14] And I was like, but do we like the show?
[00:52:16] Like, well, um, and I liked it fine, but not nearly as much as I liked WandaVision and not as much as I'm liking Agatha.
[00:52:23] I'm really enjoying it.
[00:52:25] You give us a road, you're telling us a linear story.
[00:52:27] And on along that line, you know, you want to talk about a multiverse.
[00:52:31] You can get so complex with it.
[00:52:33] This is keeping us tethered to these wonderful characters while making these characters.
[00:52:40] I mean, in any show, like you unwrap a character over the time that the show takes place.
[00:52:44] And that's exactly what we're getting.
[00:52:46] And yes, it's hidden in mysticism and magic.
[00:52:49] And yes, it's hidden down all of these wonderful unknowns about their life.
[00:52:53] But that's just what it is.
[00:52:54] They're unknowns about their life.
[00:52:56] And even if these characters turn out to play a part in the bigger MCU, it doesn't feel that way.
[00:53:02] And I think the best Marvel shows and the best Marvel movies fit like a puzzle piece that way.
[00:53:08] They tell a great story and they unwrap that story and the parts fit the story before it fits the bigger picture.
[00:53:16] And I think we're getting just a magical cast and a magical way to tell the story.
[00:53:22] So hopefully, hopefully it adds up.
[00:53:25] I mean, I mean, honestly, if they give us six more great episodes and there's still some unknown, I'm good because I love these characters.
[00:53:34] Yeah.
[00:53:34] I just don't ever want to say goodbye to them.
[00:53:38] Yeah, I can't get enough of it.
[00:53:39] My last note is that they changed the closing credit song again.
[00:53:44] Yes.
[00:53:44] And it is now Heads Will Roll by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
[00:53:48] Oh my gosh, I loved that song.
[00:53:50] Had you ever heard that song before?
[00:53:52] It's so good.
[00:53:53] I've listened to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs before.
[00:53:55] They used a Yeah Yeah Yeahs song as the theme music for Echo, which I also podcasted about.
[00:54:01] And I got into them after Echo.
[00:54:04] So I was like, hey, I know this song.
[00:54:07] Yeah.
[00:54:08] But only that was recent.
[00:54:09] That was in the last year.
[00:54:10] Yeah.
[00:54:11] So was that a play on a character dying?
[00:54:14] Or is that something yet to be told?
[00:54:16] I don't know because, I mean, Sharon may or may not be dead, but Heads Will Roll is, it sounds more like a vengeance song to me.
[00:54:27] So I don't know if it's a clue.
[00:54:29] I really don't know.
[00:54:30] Or if they just like that song.
[00:54:33] Well, and the ending credits haven't changed.
[00:54:36] Oh yeah, they're definitely adding different pictures.
[00:54:39] Oh, I saw some new pictures.
[00:54:40] I, I, I, I, oh, now it, I know how the rest of them.
[00:54:45] Or maybe I didn't notice them before.
[00:54:47] Well, but see, that could be because, well, so there's definitely some things that are relevant in episode one, for example.
[00:54:56] Because if you remember, like after episode one, like I had this whole Wizard of Oz thing going in my head and had no idea why.
[00:55:05] Like, why are they talking about the Wizard of Oz in the closing credits?
[00:55:09] And then the second episode, I'm like, oh, that's why.
[00:55:12] The tarot cards.
[00:55:14] There's those five tarot cards in the closing credits.
[00:55:18] I don't, again, I don't know a thing about them.
[00:55:20] I was hoping that I had majestically found them in the necklaces.
[00:55:23] I'm clearly wrong.
[00:55:25] So I don't know.
[00:55:26] And I took a close look at those.
[00:55:29] Only the center one is turned face up.
[00:55:32] So we only know which card that center one is.
[00:55:35] And it's the magician, which I think is, it's sort of speaks for itself.
[00:55:38] The others are turned over.
[00:55:40] So we can't see what cards they are.
[00:55:44] So are there six total cards then?
[00:55:46] One on each end and then the one in the middle?
[00:55:49] It looks to me like there are, there's one in the middle and that the five around it are like short piles of cards.
[00:55:58] Is the middle the team?
[00:56:01] Sorry.
[00:56:01] Sorry.
[00:56:02] I can't get him out of my head.
[00:56:03] I can't get him out.
[00:56:05] He is a fantastic actor.
[00:56:07] I hope that he plays a bigger part and I hope that we're not done seeing him.
[00:56:10] He makes me so happy.
[00:56:11] What a great job he's doing.
[00:56:14] And I still hope to find out a little bit more about his play.
[00:56:17] Yeah, he's fantastic.
[00:56:17] Fantastic.
[00:56:17] So I just, I can't get it out of my head.
[00:56:20] Like part of me thinks he knows who he is.
[00:56:22] Part of me thinks that he doesn't.
[00:56:24] I can't wait to find out.
[00:56:25] I so can't wait to find out.
[00:56:29] I think it's, I think people have noticed, Penny, that you and I love this show.
[00:56:33] I, I, I promise you.
[00:56:36] And I know this is the first show that I've been a like full on podcaster for.
[00:56:40] I just, I promise y'all.
[00:56:42] Like if I didn't like a show, you would know by now.
[00:56:46] I do not.
[00:56:47] I'm not just, you know, I love Kevin Smith and he loves everything.
[00:56:51] Like I love this show.
[00:56:53] Like this is one of my favorite Marvel things so far and I don't know where it'll rank,
[00:56:57] but maybe at the end we'll try to try to figure it out.
[00:57:00] All right.
[00:57:01] We should get to some news.
[00:57:05] Of which we have some.
[00:57:26] We have some news.
[00:57:28] So the first little article that I'm not going to read all of this, but there's a lot of positivity
[00:57:35] from Marvel.
[00:57:36] Uh, this show has not gotten, um, the numbers that some of the other show, the bigger shows
[00:57:43] have gotten.
[00:57:43] However, they posted the numbers for this show and we're very ecstatic about it.
[00:57:49] Um, I'll just read a little bit, um, and then dive into it a little bit.
[00:57:52] Uh, it appears the Marvel cinematic universe's latest series, Agatha all along cast spells
[00:57:56] on fans following its premiere.
[00:57:58] As Disney confirmed the viewership numbers for the phase five series.
[00:58:01] First episode per deadline, Disney revealed the opening episode of Agatha all along attracted
[00:58:06] 9.3 million viewers within the first week of streaming on Disney plus.
[00:58:12] Um, and I, I wanted to mention that because also later in the article, it talks about Loki,
[00:58:18] which drew 10.9 million.
[00:58:20] Now at the time Loki came out, I mean, to say that Loki wasn't one of the most look forward
[00:58:27] to TV series because of, you know, Hiddleston Hiddleston's portrayal would be an understatement.
[00:58:33] And the fact that Agatha is in the realm of that is wonderful.
[00:58:36] But the reason why this stands out to me, and we talked about this a lot off air is that,
[00:58:41] uh, 9.3 million views for a series that has been confirmed by Marvel to be its lowest.
[00:58:48] Um, it's budget is the lowest of any Marvel show ever by a lot.
[00:58:53] They haven't given the actual budget, but they, the, the lowest budget that we know is
[00:58:58] echo at 40 million.
[00:59:00] If they did this show a lot under that, let's just say 30 million.
[00:59:05] If this is getting 9.3 compared to like the hundred million dollar budgeted show of Loki,
[00:59:10] like that to me says a Marvel's maybe figured something out or Jack Schaefer's figured something
[00:59:17] out because obviously the budget for this show is nowhere near what they did for WandaVision,
[00:59:21] which produced basically, you know, 50, 60, 70s and 80 sitcom episodes, which could not
[00:59:27] have been cheap to shoot.
[00:59:28] Um, but I'm really super happy to see that they were happy to post this because there's
[00:59:33] still some shows that they've not posted the numbers.
[00:59:36] Like, Oh yeah, let's, you know, let's tune in the same way I was.
[00:59:39] I was like, Oh my God, she was such a breakout star from WandaVision.
[00:59:43] Like, I definitely want to see more of her or we're all just witch lovers.
[00:59:48] Like, yeah, well, I mean, that could be, I, I, and I do just want to note like rotten
[00:59:52] tomatoes.
[00:59:52] We're sitting at, um, an 83% score, a tomato score, and then 81%, um, for, for the audience
[01:00:00] score, which is fantastic.
[01:00:02] So Agatha not only is producing numbers, but it's also, um, making people as happy as we
[01:00:08] are.
[01:00:08] So maybe we're not the only one, maybe people are like seeing our joy and going, yes, that's
[01:00:12] exactly how I feel.
[01:00:13] We should tell all of our friends to listen to this podcast.
[01:00:16] Yes.
[01:00:17] Tell your friends, tell your enemies.
[01:00:18] If you don't like us, tell your enemies about it.
[01:00:23] Uh, all right.
[01:00:25] So our next article is entitled Mephisto all along and, uh, mentions how, like we talked
[01:00:33] about Jennifer Kale speculates about teens, about, um, teens, true identity and hints that
[01:00:39] he could be an agent of Mephisto.
[01:00:40] I don't know if that's exactly what she was getting at, but she did say something about,
[01:00:44] I don't think Agatha would even recognize her son if he showed up on her doorstep, which
[01:00:48] was pretty on the nose.
[01:00:49] Yeah.
[01:00:50] Uh, the Mephisto name drop restarted speculation about the villain's appearance in the series
[01:00:55] after WandaVision had to deal with the same.
[01:00:58] However, showrunner Jack Schaefer confirmed the tease was intentional, but did not reveal
[01:01:02] if it would lead to an actual appearance from Mephisto.
[01:01:05] Of course she didn't tell us, uh, the MCU fans were right all along.
[01:01:10] At least that seems to be the overwhelming notion online following the release of Agatha
[01:01:14] all along episode three.
[01:01:15] The series serves as spinoffs to WandaVision, blah, blah, blah.
[01:01:19] Um, the Catherine Han led series has also been forced to deal with the rumors of one particular
[01:01:24] comic book villain finally appearing while WandaVision's nods to Mephisto were unintentional.
[01:01:30] The spinoff series blatantly name dropped the devil incarnate in its latest episode.
[01:01:34] As a result, the fandom is ripe with theories and speculation with fans expecting the character
[01:01:40] to appear before the series finale.
[01:01:43] Uh, we'll link the whole articles in the show notes too.
[01:01:46] So you can read the whole thing.
[01:01:49] I just, I'm super curious as to what everybody thinks.
[01:01:54] Does anybody care at this point?
[01:01:56] I got to leave it there.
[01:01:58] All right.
[01:01:58] Um, the, uh, the final news article, uh, lots of speculation about the Scarlet Witch,
[01:02:04] I think is also going to be kind of hand in hand with Mephisto.
[01:02:07] The Scarlet Witch returns.
[01:02:09] And again, we'll add the link on the show notes.
[01:02:11] Uh, showrunner Jack Schaefer didn't reveal much when she was asked whether Elizabeth Olsen
[01:02:15] would make a cameo appearance as Scarlet Witch and Agatha all along.
[01:02:19] Instead, she spoke about how the series was focused on Agatha's journey.
[01:02:23] There was a lot of consideration.
[01:02:25] Schaefer said, that's a great way of articulating it for shadow.
[01:02:28] Um, speaking specifically of Wanda's shadow.
[01:02:31] Um, I guess my point of adding these last two articles in the show notes was to just
[01:02:36] point out the showrunner Jack Schaefer, who is clearly understanding the MCU universe's
[01:02:44] fandom and addressing it just upfront and just saying, yeah, of course we thought about
[01:02:51] it.
[01:02:51] Is she going to be in it?
[01:02:52] Well, I'm not going to tell you, but we're going to put these little things in here to
[01:02:55] make you think that she is.
[01:02:56] I love that.
[01:02:58] She's just not dancing around it at all.
[01:03:00] She literally, after years and years of speculation about Mephisto showing up in a
[01:03:04] numerous amount of shows, specifically WandaVision, she just basically says, she just has one of
[01:03:09] the characters mentioned it.
[01:03:10] And if he never shows up in this, in this series, I think it's great.
[01:03:14] If Wanda doesn't show up in the series, I think it's great.
[01:03:17] The fact that it's possible, I think is also great.
[01:03:20] So good on her.
[01:03:21] We'll add the links to both of those in there.
[01:03:25] And there was one more that's not going to be in the show notes because I can't remember
[01:03:28] where I saw it.
[01:03:29] But I do want to note, again, I mentioned this earlier at the beginning, but the song that
[01:03:36] everybody's been talking about since way back at Comic-Con over the summer when they came
[01:03:43] well, they came out and sang it at Comic-Con is actually, and I don't know if it's Spotify.
[01:03:49] I don't know.
[01:03:49] I think it might be Spotify, but it is right now ranked as one of the top 40 songs streaming.
[01:04:01] I love that.
[01:04:03] Yeah.
[01:04:03] Anyways, Elizabeth Olsen was on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
[01:04:09] This was part of the WandaVision thing.
[01:04:11] She was on Jimmy Kimmel Live and they flat out, and it was the week after, I think, episode
[01:04:17] one when she was on.
[01:04:18] So this is not long ago.
[01:04:20] And Jimmy Kimmel asked if her character was still alive, and she confirmed that Wanda was
[01:04:27] dead, but added that she would, she actually begged them to leave a window open for her
[01:04:34] return because she had so much fun doing these movies.
[01:04:37] Does that mean that she's going to be back?
[01:04:40] Does seem odd.
[01:04:41] It does seem odd that she mentioned this right in the middle of Agatha, doesn't it?
[01:04:45] Yeah.
[01:04:46] Yeah.
[01:04:47] I mean, maybe she's also messing with us, but she's such a cool character and there's
[01:04:53] so many different things that they could do with her.
[01:04:55] And with the multiverse, like, you know, there's millions of Wandas in the multiverse.
[01:05:02] She can definitely come back in some form if that's, you know, what MCU and Elizabeth Olsen
[01:05:09] want to do.
[01:05:11] So.
[01:05:12] Who's the?
[01:05:12] Or flashbacks or hallucinations or, you know what I mean?
[01:05:16] Like there's so many ways that a character can return.
[01:05:18] Who's the teen?
[01:05:20] Is it her son?
[01:05:21] And is that going to be what brings her back?
[01:05:22] I need to know now.
[01:05:25] There's six more episodes.
[01:05:29] Okay.
[01:05:30] We'll be there in a month.
[01:05:31] We'll know in a month.
[01:05:32] And then I'm going to be sad that it's over.
[01:05:34] And then I'm going to want to be back here.
[01:05:35] So I'm going to remember this time well.
[01:05:38] Yeah.
[01:05:40] Yeah.
[01:05:42] All right.
[01:05:43] Let's get into our witchy question of the week.
[01:05:45] We only got one response.
[01:05:47] The question was, what animal would be your magical familiar?
[01:05:51] And Jason Kabassi wrote in, my familiar would be a wolf because sometimes I'm a pack animal
[01:05:56] and sometimes I'm a loner, which is a great answer.
[01:06:00] That is a great answer.
[01:06:03] Obviously mine would be a cat because I already have a familiar and his name is Pixel and he's
[01:06:07] sitting right next to me right now.
[01:06:10] Mine.
[01:06:11] How about you?
[01:06:12] Would be a golden tamarin for two reasons.
[01:06:16] Ooh.
[01:06:16] One, they seem very playful and happy.
[01:06:18] And two, they like to throw their poop at people.
[01:06:21] Not that I want to do that in real life, but let's just say metaphorically, there's a few
[01:06:28] people I'd love to throw some poop at and I'll leave it at that.
[01:06:32] All right.
[01:06:33] That makes sense to me.
[01:06:34] I like Jason's answer better, but I think golden tamarins probably have more fun.
[01:06:39] Um, next week's witchy question of the week is about magical amulets.
[01:06:46] And do you have one?
[01:06:48] Do you have a lucky charm?
[01:06:49] What is it?
[01:06:50] Like, do you wear it?
[01:06:52] Is it something that you carry around with you?
[01:06:54] Do you believe in lucky charms?
[01:06:57] If you don't have one, most people who don't like, I remember as a kid, I had a friend
[01:07:03] who always had a half dollar in his pocket.
[01:07:05] He still has it, you know, 40 years later, he still has the same half dollar.
[01:07:09] It actually led me to get my own, which I'll hold off on telling you about till next week.
[01:07:14] So is there, is there, if you don't have one, what do you want one?
[01:07:18] What would you want as your amulet?
[01:07:21] Um, I, I, and here's the deal.
[01:07:24] We need five.
[01:07:26] We need five.
[01:07:27] Yeah.
[01:07:28] Um, I, I, I will sing every title.
[01:07:32] Oh God.
[01:07:35] Don't make that promise.
[01:07:38] We just, we just, please, please write in and talk to us.
[01:07:41] Yeah.
[01:07:41] Yeah.
[01:07:42] Write in, um, talk to us and leave us some feedback.
[01:07:45] I know people are listening because first of all, I see the download numbers, but also
[01:07:50] people are writing to me outside of, outside of the feedback to just like, tell me personally
[01:07:57] what they think about episodes of the podcast.
[01:08:00] And I'm like, right, but send in feedback.
[01:08:01] So send in feedback.
[01:08:03] You guys.
[01:08:03] Yes.
[01:08:04] We love to get one voicemail.
[01:08:07] Yay.
[01:08:08] Yay.
[01:08:11] Um, so I'm going to play that.
[01:08:13] Yeah.
[01:08:14] Hi guys.
[01:08:15] I happily eat my words.
[01:08:18] You guys were right.
[01:08:19] I was wrong.
[01:08:21] I unfairly judged the series based on the trailer.
[01:08:24] It is really, really good.
[01:08:26] And I am enjoying watching it so much.
[01:08:29] Yay.
[01:08:29] Enough to do a rewatch.
[01:08:31] Probably not.
[01:08:33] However, I do really, really like it.
[01:08:35] And I am looking forward to the remaining episodes of the series.
[01:08:39] So that's huge, enormous for me.
[01:08:41] Cause I was like, oh no, I don't even want to have anything to do with it.
[01:08:44] So it's fantastic for anyone who's on the fence about it.
[01:08:48] Like I watched all first three episodes, like almost in one sitting.
[01:08:52] So it was like, almost like watching an hour and a half movie.
[01:08:55] And I think that really helped me a lot of like, for example, like the first episode,
[01:09:00] I really didn't like, I almost turned it off with that Westview stuff.
[01:09:05] I was so bored.
[01:09:05] I got what they were doing with it.
[01:09:07] I just didn't care.
[01:09:08] I'm here for Marvel, not mayor of Eastwick or Westwick or whatever it's called.
[01:09:14] I mean, also very good show, but very different and not what I was looking for.
[01:09:19] And I totally get it.
[01:09:20] It's just my crankiness.
[01:09:21] I was like, really?
[01:09:22] This is all powerful.
[01:09:24] This is what we're doing.
[01:09:25] However, I really liked the ending of that where it was super gay and super amazing.
[01:09:30] And I want more of it.
[01:09:31] I mean, the chemistry between Aubrey Plaza and Agatha was amazing.
[01:09:36] I don't know Aubrey Plaza's character's name, but like, that was sexy.
[01:09:41] It's like, my heart is dead.
[01:09:42] It only beats for you.
[01:09:43] And licking her hand.
[01:09:45] Okay.
[01:09:45] I want more of this.
[01:09:47] This is fantastic.
[01:09:48] And then the second episode really sealed it in for me.
[01:09:50] I mean, just watching Agatha collect these little misfit toys to be a part of her coven.
[01:09:55] And then the second episode was peak amazing.
[01:09:57] And I loved it.
[01:09:58] Sashir Zameda, I've been a fan of hers for such a long time.
[01:10:02] And she steals the screen for me every time she's on there, which is hard to do with Catherine
[01:10:07] Han because she's amazing.
[01:10:09] Patti LuPone, enough said.
[01:10:10] But, like, all of these actors are phenomenal and amazing at what they're doing.
[01:10:15] All their characters are so charismatic on screen.
[01:10:18] And having Sashir Zameda being the stand-in for Gwyneth Paltrow and Goof is amazing.
[01:10:28] I love that Marvel is trolling Gwyneth.
[01:10:30] Like, even Gwen, Jen, it's amazing.
[01:10:33] It's fantastic.
[01:10:33] I didn't think about that.
[01:10:34] That's great.
[01:10:35] And I relate uncomfortably so, to some degree, to Sharon.
[01:10:40] Or, as everyone else seems to think of her, Mrs. Hart.
[01:10:45] I was like, oh, she and I even guessed that riddle in the third episode as wine.
[01:10:50] I definitely, she is my avatar in the series.
[01:10:53] And, of course, she's the first one to die.
[01:10:55] That also tracks.
[01:10:56] I want to know more about the Salem Seven.
[01:10:59] What did Agatha do to them?
[01:11:01] Like, this is so interesting.
[01:11:02] I know they're leaning really hard into Teen being Agatha's son.
[01:11:07] I'm not mad at it.
[01:11:08] I mean, it's a little, like, you know, in our face now.
[01:11:12] And I kind of wish they either left that more subtle.
[01:11:15] Or maybe I thought he was one of Scarlet Witch's sons.
[01:11:20] Her twin sons.
[01:11:21] I don't know.
[01:11:22] Like, that's just, I just thought that that was maybe a part of it.
[01:11:25] But I'm not mad about it.
[01:11:26] I think it's okay.
[01:11:27] Who do you think the kid has been working for?
[01:11:29] Because this was a long time ago, it sounds like.
[01:11:32] So, I'm looking forward to the escape rooms that seem to be making up the walking mile.
[01:11:37] And seeing how it goes.
[01:11:39] Who do you think is going to die next?
[01:11:41] Oh, who do you think is going to die next?
[01:11:44] That's not fair.
[01:11:48] Who do I think is going to die next?
[01:11:49] If I were to bet, I would say for no good reason at all, Alice.
[01:12:00] Because of the curse.
[01:12:02] Yeah.
[01:12:03] I feel like her story has the least mystery to it.
[01:12:10] I mean, we don't know what happened to her mother.
[01:12:12] But we kind of know what happened to her, right?
[01:12:15] She lost her mother and she went, she's a cop and now she's a mall cop.
[01:12:21] Like, there's not, I don't know.
[01:12:24] Once we find out what happened to her mother and maybe that'll be next episode, I could see them killing her.
[01:12:30] I also feel like we've already gotten through the potions trial.
[01:12:35] So maybe we get some more of Jen's backstory and then she dies because they don't need a potions witch anymore.
[01:12:42] But I don't want any of them to die.
[01:12:44] I love these characters.
[01:12:45] Well, Sam brought up a great point because Catherine Hahn is a force.
[01:12:50] And you add Patti LuPon to the cast, another incredibly deep actress who's won Tony Awards and has just been this amazing actress for many, many years.
[01:13:03] The best part about the series to me is, you know, we have Joe Locke who I think is, steals every scene that he's in.
[01:13:13] I, Shashir Zamata, I mean, is magnificent in everything that he's in.
[01:13:20] And Alian has.
[01:13:21] Yeah.
[01:13:22] The casting is flawless.
[01:13:24] Flawless.
[01:13:25] Well, and the fact that I just mentioned all of them and I have not yet mentioned, you know, we, Debra Jo Rupp, who I think we all see, you know, we've seen her so much in that 70s show.
[01:13:35] And, and I, you know, but it.
[01:13:39] Aubrey Plaza.
[01:13:41] I mean, what a cast.
[01:13:42] This is a cast of.
[01:13:44] It's amazing.
[01:13:44] The knowns are amazing and the unknowns are stealing the show, which, which really makes a great episode.
[01:13:50] I will say, first of all, Sam, you know full well, I appreciate everything that you say.
[01:13:55] I do think that this, you said you don't want to rewatch, but I will say this.
[01:13:59] I generally don't like to rewatch episodes, even ones that I'm podcasting about, but I've been rewatching every episode.
[01:14:05] And every time I watch it, I catch 10 things that I did not see.
[01:14:09] Part of that might just be because it's who I am.
[01:14:12] I'm a very reflective person, but I think part of that is there are subtleties to every episode that.
[01:14:19] You just don't see it first that.
[01:14:24] Yeah, it's layered, it's detailed and it's self-referential.
[01:14:29] So like I was saying, you watch episode three and you're like, oh, that ties back to something in episode two.
[01:14:35] And and do I remember it correctly or what exactly did they say?
[01:14:40] And it is very rewatchable.
[01:14:45] I mean, you don't have to rewatch it if you're not podcasting about it.
[01:14:48] Just enjoy yourself and have fun.
[01:14:50] But I bet people want to rewatch it.
[01:14:53] Yeah.
[01:14:53] Yeah.
[01:14:54] So anyways, I just I'm so glad like her voice is amazing.
[01:14:58] Absolutely.
[01:14:59] Thanks for calling in.
[01:15:00] I love that.
[01:15:01] So.
[01:15:02] All right.
[01:15:03] That is our show.
[01:15:05] Next time.
[01:15:06] Episode four.
[01:15:07] If I can't reach you, let my song teach you.
[01:15:12] Hmm.
[01:15:12] Let my song teach you.
[01:15:14] Well, now I definitely think I know who this one's going to be about.
[01:15:18] Yeah.
[01:15:19] Maybe Patti LuPone.
[01:15:21] Or is it?
[01:15:22] Because she's the Broadway singer.
[01:15:25] But remember, we've got a singer, a singer's mother.
[01:15:29] Oh, right.
[01:15:29] It's got to be about Alice.
[01:15:31] You're right.
[01:15:32] OK.
[01:15:33] If you want to join the conversation, you can email or send a voice memo to Agatha at podcastica.com.
[01:15:40] And we also put feedback posts up on the podcastica Facebook page.
[01:15:44] Or you can always find us over at podcastica.com.
[01:15:47] And while you're there, please look around and check out all of our other shows.
[01:15:52] Um, I, I think to just having, um, listened to this this morning, uh, hit up our, our, our flagship show.
[01:16:02] Uh, we are Daryl Dixon just started and our, you know, Jason Kabassi or, um, the man who runs the whole ship and Lucy, uh, are weaving us through that show.
[01:16:17] Which, in my opinion, is the second best Walking Dead show.
[01:16:22] But I definitely hit up that show.
[01:16:24] Um, you want to talk about the culture of podcastica.
[01:16:26] That's it.
[01:16:26] And I think Daryl, Daryl Dixon historically has been, um, in season one was, was just a, a wonderful change of pace.
[01:16:34] And I think, I think it's worth listening to, uh, so you can catch up with that.
[01:16:37] I agree.
[01:16:39] I really enjoy it.
[01:16:40] It's called the, the cast of us.
[01:16:42] Yes.
[01:16:42] You want to look for it.
[01:16:44] And I'll just go ahead and plug, uh, cast of the rings, which we are getting the finale of season two of rings of power is dropping tonight.
[01:16:55] I think at 3am East coast time and midnight for people on the, on the, on the West coast.
[01:17:02] Oh boy.
[01:17:03] And I am like dying to see how the season ends.
[01:17:08] It's been a remarkable season.
[01:17:10] The production values on that show talk about, okay.
[01:17:14] So Agatha is like the lowest, uh, budgeted show for the MCU rings of power is one of the most expensive television programs ever created.
[01:17:24] And you can see it on screen.
[01:17:26] Every detail is so beautiful.
[01:17:31] And the story is super compelling.
[01:17:34] The characters are really compelling.
[01:17:36] The acting is good.
[01:17:38] It's all working for me as this season, even more than first season is just really, it's all, it's working on all the different levels.
[01:17:46] And, um, if you're interested in sort of ethical questions about the pursuit of power and what the pursuit of power does to a person rings of power is for you.
[01:17:58] Thanks for listening until next time.
[01:18:01] I'm Penny.
[01:18:02] And I'm Jim.
[01:18:03] Get with you with it.
[01:18:04] Get with you with it.
