[00:01:31] You know what's funny? The amount of lies I've told you, the amount of mundane, made-up details I've had to keep track of, it has been bothers. I never expected I'd get taken down by a stick of big red, though. I've always wondered if you were out there. And now I've found you. The one person in the world who can lie to me. Technically, I found you.
[00:01:57] Okay, so, uh, how do you do it? Huh? Is there like a trick or something? Like you, uh, only use certain words, so technically you're not lying? No. I've lied to you. Over and over. Cool. So you're the world's biggest sociopath. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay.
[00:02:28] Yeah. Sudden hot flash. You mind? I'm of an age. Fucking Christ. Really, Alex. Man. And all for this, right? All to get to Beatrix Harris. I mean Jesus, lady. Wasn't there an easier way? I'm doing the math here, you know? Seems like a lot of work. You know, I invented a whole other person. Like, is there anything that you didn't lie to me about?
[00:02:59] Yes. There was one thing. I wasn't lying at the wedding when we first met. I really was at an all-time low. My entire adult life, I've been deceiving and killing some of the most powerful people in the world.
[00:03:16] It was always so easy. I've seduced and murdered movie stars. I've killed kings and queens, dukes, viscounts, barons, countesses. When the Vatican wanted to put out a contract on the sitting pope, they called me. You killed a pope? No. Always good to have a line. Cheap fuckers wouldn't make my rate.
[00:03:47] Welcome to our podcast. I'm Penny. I'm Becky. And I'm Kelsey.
[00:04:26] And this is Murder Magnets, a podcast dedicated to the Peacock original show, Poker Face. This episode, we're covering Poker Face Season 2, Episode 12, the season finale, The End of the Road. Directed by the brilliant Natasha Lyonne and written by Laura Dealey and Taya Ho. So you heard the voice of Kelsey, who has left us a couple of really fantastic voicemails in the past.
[00:04:54] And we floated the idea of her coming on and she jumped at the chance and we're so excited. So welcome, Kelsey. Yes. Hello, hello. I'm so excited to be here. How did you find us? Do you listen to any other podcasts? Yes. I found you guys through Yellow Jackets originally. Oh, excellent. Yeah. And well, and that's, I found podcasts about television through Yellow Jackets as well. I just hadn't been compelled to the way that Yellow Jackets did.
[00:05:24] Yeah. That's such a fun show to podcast about because it's like so twisty and there's so much going on. So much. And intentionally. I mean, just the, yeah, anyway. But then I also found all the other shows that you guys do and now we got Poker Face. Yeah. Awesome. I'm so glad you found us. I thought you were going to say Yellow Jackets is a fun show. And I was going to be like, this is why we love Penny.
[00:05:54] She's a little twisted. It is a fun show. Come on. It really is a fun show. It has a sense of humor, right? It does. It's dark and disturbing, but like, it's also funny. It's, yeah, it's like a little bit absurd. Yeah. And there's amazing creative choices, you know, putting aside the story. There's just great, like, use of music and really beautiful cinematography. It's an excellent show.
[00:06:22] So listeners, if you haven't watched Yellow Jackets, I suggest you go ahead and start and then join us over on the podcast, which we named Yellow Jackets WTF. Because we had a chat group going that was called Yellow Jackets WTF because we were all, we had all just started watching the show and we were like, what the F is this? And then we were like, what better name for the podcast? It's perfect. Yeah, I can't tell you how many times I say that while watching.
[00:06:52] Well, let's get into Poker Face, which is the current show, which is awesome. And I can't believe season two is over. It feels like it flew by. It did. Kelsey, as our guest, would you like to read the synopsis? Yes. I sure can. As Charlie and Alex race to Beatrix Hasp's safe house in Indiana, Luca tries to stop them, warning Charlie that she's leading the iguana right to Beatrix's door.
[00:07:19] In a twist, we learn the iguana has been in plain view the whole time and Alex has been lying to Charlie from the start. After an apparent Thelma and Louise cliff jump, Charlie is saved by Luca and sent on the run and Alex is in the wind. Dun, dun, dun, dun. Yeah. So let's talk about our moments to die for. Becky, you want to go first? Sure.
[00:07:47] My moment to die for is when Charlie's walking in the diner and she's like scoping out every single person. And there is this random small child, I think. Yeah. With full on clown makeup sitting there. And then they show it again in the mirror. As we were just saying, WTF. That's what I said was WTF. And they never circled back to it. That was my moment to die for.
[00:08:16] They showed it a third time too, where it was just in the background, just cat still in full clown makeup, casually just like swinging its legs, eating French fries. Just at the desk. At the diner. Yeah, having a good time. I think I blocked that third one out. I hate clowns. It was just in the background. I hate clowns too. It made me jump. It was like a jump scare. So that was definitely my moment to die for because it almost gave me a heart attack. Kelsey, what was yours?
[00:08:44] My moment to die for, hard to pick, but I think at the end when after near certain death, Luca pulls Charlie up and she says, not bad for two people under 5'5". He goes, I'm 5'7". She goes, I'll allow it. That's a good one. I'm also 5'2", so I'm like, yes, I'm in that club. That was certainly really hilarious.
[00:09:12] And that moment between them at the top of the cliff was also emotionally affecting, right? Like the way the show does it, balancing like, you know, high stakes drama with wit and comedy. It's great. Simon Helberger has been a really good part of the show in his recurring role. My moment to die for was in the diner when Charlie ordered fries and whatever else she ordered.
[00:09:40] And then she says, and two Xanax. And she's like, I'm just kidding. And the waitress is like, there's a guy in the parking lot. He's running a buy one, get one. Yeah, that was amazing. That was, I was tied between that one and the top of the cliff. I like where she got the fries and she made the comment about how that was conveniently fast. Suspiciously fast. Suspiciously fast.
[00:10:06] Every time I've watched that, the episode, and I watched it like two and a half times, when she gets the fries and she's like, suspiciously fast. I'm like, I want some fries. Oh God, they look so good, don't they? They look really good. I feel like she took them from someone else though. Like, I feel like she just like took them from someone's seat who got up at the diner. That was suspiciously fast. Maybe. Clown fries. Who knows? But let's get into our main topics.
[00:10:35] Kelsey, guest of honor, you get to go first. Where do you want to start? Oh goodness. There was so much in this episode. First of all, I feel like when the episode started and Charlie was there right from the start, I was like, oh shit, Lisa was right. They're going to show us halfway through how the iguana was here the whole time. Gosh darn it.
[00:10:58] And then like tied to that, Luca sent him the picture and Charlie's like, oh, what kind of psycho would be able to get that from what you're seeing? Alex is like, oh, I see it. Yeah. She looks at her and I'm like, oh, because you are that psycho. Oh, darn it. I really, really wanted you to be your friend. But I mean, it's really entertaining. But I just in hindsight, all of the things.
[00:11:28] Yeah. That was heartbreaking. You know, we talked about it on last week's episode that Lisa had said that she thought Alex was the iguana. And I even went through and tried to prove it to myself. And I still was like, but I don't think she is. Yeah. We were so wrong. Especially after last week. I think I really let my guard down a little bit more. Like they got me. They got me good. I mean, I didn't want it to be true. But yeah. Yeah.
[00:11:56] She lured us in the same way she lured Charlie in. She got us to trust her by putting herself in jeopardy that Charlie needed to save. And we were all like, we have to save Alex. Instead of being like, Alex is sus. Yes. And kudos to the actress who, was it Patty? Patty Harrison. Patty Harrison, who played her because she was so convincing as this quirky, yet like she disarmed you.
[00:12:23] So even though her appearance in the beginning with that cup of coffee, we talked about it. It was suspicious, but she was so charming at playing that character that I was like, there's no way, A, no way the show is going to bring Charlie somebody good that she can have a safe relationship with and take them away from us, but from Charlie.
[00:12:50] But B, no way could this kind, adorable human being be vicious. And boy, oh, I didn't want it to be right either, Kelsey. And it really made me sad when it was. But I did out loud say, okay, Lisa, you win. Yeah. Yeah. It made me sad too, because I really wanted Charlie to have a friend. Even if Alex were going to get killed, at least Charlie would have had the friendship.
[00:13:18] Now it's like, I just don't see how she ever trusts anybody again, ever. Because she's Charlie. Yeah. It sucks for her. You know, like she said, like, even when Alex said, like, you technically saved my life. And Charlie's like, you know, even that still sends a zing through my heart. She loves people. She's always going to give them that benefit of the doubt. I think that's what her and Luca have in common. Oh, interesting.
[00:13:47] I think that's why they have such good chemistry. I think they both at their root, I think they try to see the good in people. He does seem like he's always trying to, like, help people be better versions of themselves. He's like wholesome. Yeah. At least in my eyes. So one of my points was Luca. And first of all, I loved his speech about, you know, ignore Charlie at your peril.
[00:14:14] And then somebody puts that photo of her on the beach up on the screen. The whole moment was great. But it became so clear that his colleagues don't like or respect him. And at one point, the Taylor Schilling FBI agent says, I don't want to talk about my personal life with Luca fucking Clark. And I was like, Misty fucking Quigley. Oh. And I thought about the pattern there.
[00:14:40] Because on Yellow Jackets, the characters call Misty Quigley, Misty fucking Quigley often. And it's because they see her gifts, but also can't stand her. But she's family. It's this combination of emotions. And I feel like it was the same kind of combination here. His colleagues are like, why are you promoted so much? You don't deserve it. But also, you did solve that case. And also, you're not that horrible of a guy. But I kind of hate you anyway. And it's like they're angry that they're angry. They don't like him.
[00:15:09] And it made me feel bad for him because I like him. And he seems sad and lonely. He does. And he was one of my main points too, Penny. And if I can add on to what you're saying during that impassioned speech about Charlie. And don't underestimate her. That she's better than us. She's better than, I'd say she's better than me. He basically just admitted why they don't like him.
[00:15:36] Is that he's not that great at his job. But because of her, he's excelled. And he talked about it, I think, last episode where he was in therapy for imposter syndrome. So I just, I think that that's a lot of the reason why they don't like him so much or as much. But I also, to talk about Luca and Charlie.
[00:16:02] The two of them, their chemistry, like you said, Kelsey, is undeniable. But you're right. They are the same people. And I think that's why they have had such a connection this entire time. And then that very heartfelt moment at the end where he says, I'm going to let you go. This time, I'm going to give you a head start. And she starts crying.
[00:16:25] I feel like those tears were for losing this relationship that she's gotten to have with Luca, where she's not on the run from anyone. He's not there to protect her. He's just been a part of her life for these past season once. Beatrix, everything got ironed out with Beatrix. But I think it was as much for losing Alex, too. It was losing everything. She lost Alex.
[00:16:54] She's lost a little bit of faith in her gift. She's losing being a legal person, not on the run that she got at the beginning of the season. She's a little bit losing her relationship with Luca. Although I don't completely believe him that next time he sees her, he's going to arrest her. But I believe he thinks he will. I think she's sad for a lot of reasons. Also, she almost died.
[00:17:18] But I also think, yeah, it's to add on to that loss of stability, loss of hope. Yeah. She was just starting to, like, she had a friend. She was living in an apartment. We saw some repeat characters. And that's all just been the rug just pulled out from under her from trying to do the right thing. Yeah, and doesn't even have a car. Yeah.
[00:17:41] Yeah, she's walking two miles to the service station or shuffling, running, scurrying, whatever that was. That was great. But that was great. I need you to run. Okay, I'm running. That's me running, by the way. Yeah. Yeah. It's dire, the situation that Charlie's in at the end of the episode.
[00:18:03] That scene reminded me of one of the animal movies from, like, the 90s where the kid and the dog and they're, like, in a field and he's trying to let it go. And the dog loves him and doesn't want to go. And he's like, you have to go. You have to go. Oh, I haven't seen that. But it's Harry and the Hendersons is a good example of that as well, where they're like, you have to leave. Or Arya and Nymeria in Game of Thrones season one, when she's like, you have to leave or they're going to kill you. Oh, I don't know.
[00:18:33] This dog scene really, really left it. The boys in tears because he also loves the dog. That's brutal. Yeah, it was. It reminded me of that scene. But Charlie was the dog and Luca was the kid. The kid. He's like, you have to leave. I can't help you now. And he was crying, too. No, it was the wind. Oh, yeah, that's right. He was just insulted that she said he was only 5'5".
[00:19:05] Hey, Becky, you're up next. Well, we talked a lot about Luca and he was, I have two main points and the other one obviously being Alex. But I want to talk a little bit about Alex's backstory. This is the one part when she was going through and explaining that I kind of checked out, not checked out, but the show kind of lost me a little bit. And I think that was so far-fetched. Some of what she was saying and how it played out.
[00:19:33] I love the Arkin cameo as the CEO, though, by the way. Yeah, that's great. It's just a lot of it. I don't know. It just bothered me. And I'm curious. Did y'all feel that way? I'm willing to overlook it. No, I loved it. Did you really? Yeah, that was one of my favorite things. I loved that whole spiel. Also, was the, I didn't look it up. I forgot to look it up. Was the agent on the phone, was that the older brother from Mrs. Doubtfire?
[00:20:03] Oh, I don't know. I think you might be right. I thought his voice might be modulated. Well, I didn't think it was modulated. I thought it sounded like the, I can't remember. That kid? I might have to look it up. No, it wasn't a kid. It was the, no, because there was Mrs. Doubt for Robin Williams. Oh, Harvey Fierstein. Harvey Fierstein. Is that it? Yeah, that is correct. Robin Williams' older brother. That is correct. Yep. I just like, well done, Kelsey. That's an amazing catch. Oh, wow.
[00:20:35] Well, he has kind of one of those voices. That's funny. I thought it was in modulated voice because it sounded like a weird to me. But now that I think about it, that's how Harvey Fierstein always sounds. Yeah, no, I loved it. Well, first of all, just when she said, oh, you killed a pope. It's like, no. You know, oh, good. You glad you have a line. Like, no, cheap fuckers wouldn't make my rate. It's like, oh, okay. That's who we're dealing with. Yeah.
[00:21:00] I wasn't sure if her description of like, I've killed counts and baronesses and all that stuff was really true or just she was messing with Charlie still. It kind of didn't matter. I do think the CEO story was true. And I bought her. I was feeling like hopeless and lost because I didn't have any challenges left in the world. I completely bought that.
[00:21:26] The rest of it seemed a little bit, I don't know, magical realism isn't the right word, but like a little absurd. I think it was, but I think it was meant to be. Yeah. I mean, what do I know about international assassins? I liked that it was like sort of a caricature of an assassin. That's fair. In a way, like she walked a hundred miles through the Alaskan tundra and wrestled a polar bear
[00:21:53] with her bare hands to a CEO that was 300 meters underground. Like, yeah, I mean, it's ridiculous, but I was entertained by it. I did love the polar bear rug. Yeah. That was a nice touch. It took me a minute to catch that until she went to kiss it goodbye. And I was like, oh, so that's the polar bear. My favorite part with Alex, the big reveal, there were two things that I really liked. It took me till second watch, I think, to understand what I saw. But, you know, obviously, Penny, we've talked every episode where I'm like,
[00:22:23] that cinnamon's going to come back. And it does when she pops that piece of big red, which I love big red gum. It lasts for like five seconds, but that stuff is delicious. But there was a moment in the car when Charlie went around to the side of the house. She says, Alex, and she realizes finally starting to sink in what's in front of her. But at the same time, the camera pans to Alex, who says, oh, shit, and then starts honking the horn.
[00:22:50] I think that, oh, shit, was her realizing she slipped up by chewing that cinnamon gum and planned her escape. And boy, did she change awfully fast. Yeah. New outfit. Real fast. And killing all those people really fast. She must have been wearing it under her clothes. It did seem curiously fast. On rewatch when I was like looking for it, I guess there was enough time. I also was like, how many knives do you have, girl? Yeah.
[00:23:20] She left them all behind. I also was like, how is this a safe house hiding in plain sight in the suburbs with uniformed armed marshals stationed on the roof? Yeah, who's not going to notice that? And also, when Charlie and Alex pulled up on the street early in the morning, nobody else around, and then Charlie goes up to the door, the armed marshal on the roof didn't clock that. How bad are they at their job?
[00:23:46] Because they should have been like, okay, there's people here, something's up, and had a gun trained on Alex and Charlie immediately while they figure out who they are. You shouldn't be able to approach a safe house without the guards noticing you. Well, it was established early on. The FBI and whatnot, they aren't great at their jobs, but that was another kind of suspension of disbelief. I was willing to overlook it because this show delivers so well everywhere else.
[00:24:16] Yeah, that's true. I was like, okay, I'm not going to spend too much time on that. How did none of these people see this blue car, very loud blue car, pull up? Yeah, and Charlie fully knocks on the door. It's not like they didn't have a warning that somebody was there. It's just, it seemed whatever.
[00:24:35] I mean, I guess the only thing is they didn't have any sort of heads up that she was in danger because none of the other government people would give up the codes to figure out where she was. True. So she's been in protection for how long? And it's just like another day as normal. If there was a gun trained on everyone that knocked at the door, then it's also not a super low-key safe house. Yeah, I don't know.
[00:25:05] If I had to go into witness protection, I would like show them this episode and be like, I don't want any of this nonsense. Yeah, this is exactly how not to make sure I'm safe, please. My last thing about Alex is when they're having the conversation and she's coming clean to Charlie about everything, I thought it was hilarious that she's like fondling Charlie's hair. Oh, yeah. Which she's talking about how-
[00:25:33] Because she was, I think she was trying to show that she was like sexually charged by the cat and mouse game between them. Yeah, well, she says that fooling Charlie was like good sex and she was charged at that point. If she knew what that was. Yeah, because she doesn't do physical pleasure. Which is unfortunate. Yeah, it is unfortunate.
[00:25:55] Charlie's face had me dying when I saw that, but there was something she said about how she fooled Charlie by choking off the roots of my humanity. And then how emotional Charlie got when Alex was talking about how she was, it was so easy to take advantage of her and get her hooked into this because she's such a do-gooder. Charlie's like, well, maybe I just care about people.
[00:26:24] But like that moment, Natasha Lyonne kind of clears her throat like she's choking back emotions. I think that was some phenomenal acting. And I really liked that conversation dynamic between the two of them where neither one were giving up the root of who they were to say, you're wrong, I'm wrong. It was just like raw honesty at that point. Yeah, they were all the, what's the word I'm looking for? Their masks were down.
[00:26:53] Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, their masks were fully down for both of them. So we just like totally in the raw. And they were so good at it. Like they were so good at honoring the core of the characters they were portraying, I thought. That's very well said. Thanks. You got to that way faster than I did. I just, I just summarized, I just, you know, repurposed, summarized. You did the hard work first.
[00:27:22] You got to go to the shop-apotheke-app.
[00:27:52] So Natasha Lyonne directed this episode and I thought she did a phenomenal job and made a lot of really interesting choices that were quite fun to look at. First of all, the freeze frames on the grainy footage, when they would do that every once in a while, was so 70s. I don't know what specific show used that technique, but it's in my memory. And I was like, oh, I recognize that. Oh, Becky, do you know?
[00:28:19] Okay, so the freeze frame specifically on the car, when the car's going off the Grand Canyon and the freeze frames like that. Did y'all ever watch the Dukes of Hazzard? Oh, yeah. That was definitely Dukes of Hazzard. I recognize that from Dukes of Hazzard. But I know what you mean, Penny, that like the, while they're solving the crimes, like the freeze frame on the people they're talking about. I can picture it in my head, but I can't place it.
[00:28:48] I want to say it was like Starsky and Hutch or some other like late 70s, early 80s crime show. I don't think Wonder Woman ever did like a grainy, like dark, blurry footage like that. Or maybe TJ Hooker? Possibly. But what about, what's the guy, the bionic man? Oh, the six million dollar man? Yes. We can fix him. We have the technology. One of my favorite lines in a TV show ever.
[00:29:16] I just thought, I got Dukes of Hazzard every time they did a freeze frame. Oh, from the, the car jumping was definitely Dukes of Hazzard. I loved the rewind and then you get a slightly different version of events because you could see it from different angles. I thought that was really clever. And that, that scene started with the song King of the Road, which is a song about being like a drifter on the road. And these loving close-ups of the Barracuda.
[00:29:43] And then when it rewound, the music also rewound and we heard the song in reverse. I just thought that was a clever, like cute element to put in there. There, there were a bunch of shots when they showed the car driving earlier in the episode where the, it was shot from like the roads point of view and the car would like drive over the camera. I thought that those were really cool and clever.
[00:30:05] There was, when they had the car chase, there was a lot of swooping camera that made you feel sort of as chaotic as it probably feels to be in a car chase. Maybe not as chaotic, but you know, you get my drift. And the overhead camera in Hazzard's house when Charlie was looking for her, I thought was really cool. Yeah, that was neat. Added like a sense of like eerie creepiness. Cause we're like, there's her dead body right there. Charlie's about to find it. Like so cool.
[00:30:30] And there was a great moment when Alex was in her apartment and you know, we're hearing the voiceover of her describing. And she's like playing with her knives and then they do a rack focus into her reflection on that big shiny knife. You see her eye on the knife. I, I was a film student undergrad and I used to find a way to get reflection shots in like all my movies. Cause I just love them. And I thought that was an elegant one and that, and that it was a rack focus.
[00:30:59] So we moved into the shot. I just thought it was beautiful. And there was this great bokeh in the background. It's really pretty shot. I think Natasha Lyonne is an amazing director and I'm kind of hoping that she takes on a feature film next. I'd like to see what she did with like complete control over a universe. I'd watch it. I've loved this season.
[00:31:23] You're not to get into like big picture stuff yet too much, but like every episode is like love letter to movies or TV or watchers and consumers and in a different way. Yeah. And just like, just, they've been so lovingly created. It does feel that way. And playfulness of going in and out of different genres and casting guest stars against type.
[00:31:49] And there's a playfulness, even you can feel just in who the guest stars are. And I can't help thinking how fun it must be when you regularly work on some other show or movies or something long-term to do one week, small part on a show and do like some kind of slightly caricatured character. It just must feel like a vacation for the actors to like join the show for one week like that. I think it's cool. Hopefully everything's like fun, just fun.
[00:32:20] Hopefully. Cause then if they love making it, then maybe they'll keep making it. Yeah. So one of my final point is to set up for season three. So if y'all want to keep going with everything else, then we can come back to that. Yeah. Let's do that in a bit. Kelsey, what do you have? One thing. Hey, she's smoking again. Yeah. She's hopeless. Yeah, I guess so. She's not vaping.
[00:32:47] I was, I had been thinking in some of the previous episodes where she's like very blatantly vaping. I always wonder like how that'll be like when we rewatch this in 10 years, like what's, we're gonna like, oh, oh, remember those? Like, I don't know. I've just, I've had that thought as while watching it live. Like, oh, this is gonna, I feel like this is gonna date this, but not in a bad way. But, oh, she's smoking again. I didn't love seeing that for her. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:33:17] It seems like it's a comfort in a time of stress. And, you know, she started vaping to try to give up smoking and even said when it came up on the episode, like, I don't know if vaping is any better for you, but, you know, let me try it. And I think when she's on the road, she's like, oh God, here I am right back where I was before. And man, a cigarette would be good right now. And we might die. So why not? She makes a comment about smoking again when she's, I think outside the diner. Yeah.
[00:33:47] Fumbling with trying to get a cigarette lit. She, she makes a comment about, oh, I'm smoking again. And so I think it was, like you said, Penny, because she, I mean, she's on the run. Her friend is about to die. She's probably gonna die. At least she thinks she is. So, yeah. Why not smoke? Why not light up a cigarette? Although she was chain smoking. Every chain she got, she was lighting one up. Yeah.
[00:34:13] She was smoking while Alex had a gun to her head and was stroking her face. She was taking drags of her cigarette. I mean, if you're gonna have a cigarette being molested by a top-ranked assassin, it's probably a good time to do it. Yeah. It's like, there's a lot of movies where before the firing squad, the prisoners are allowed a cigarette. I think it's a little bit like that. It's like, here's your last cigarette.
[00:34:42] You don't want to miss that last little moment of pleasure before you get shot. I mean, like, can I get a three-piece wings and some mashed potatoes? Yeah. Instead of a cigarette? And give me time to eat it and enjoy it before you kill me. That would be my request. Yeah. Can I have some blue cheese fries? Like, that would be awesome. Oh, my gosh. You've got to, at some point in your life, go to East Tennessee, where I grew up.
[00:35:11] There's a place called Ridgewood Barbecue. They make their own blue cheese dressing. And their fries are those hand-cut. They're not thick, but they're not thin. They're like just, and then you dip the fries in this fresh made blue cheese. So good. Might be worth the inevitable barfing that would happen after. I've never thrown up after. Oh, I have a cheese. Like, my body rejects cheese.
[00:35:41] Oh, yeah. Yeah. I'm so sorry for you. Thank you. But if I was about to be shot, I'd be like, blue cheese, please? Yeah. I'm going to leave you out with a present after I'm done. I don't have any guilt about barfing all over you. So please bring me the cheese. Yeah. Same thing. Like, if I see like nuclear missiles flying into Boston, I'm going to be like, blue cheese dressing. Glug, glug, glug, glug, glug. Like, just go for it.
[00:36:07] I thought that the whole part about how Alex lied to Charlie was interesting, how excited she was about it, but also just how she described it. She's like, I had to totally suppress involuntary responses, heart rate, adrenaline, body temperature, saliva production, oxygen concentration, even sinuses. And it wasn't just controlling the presentational effects, but choking off the roots of humanity, which one of you already mentioned.
[00:36:35] And then she says, I felt like an Olympic athlete. She said she had to sleep for 26 hours after the first time that she lied to Charlie. That's the sex thing. And I thought that the idea that in order to effectively lie, you have to choke off your humanity is kind of deep and a little bit the theme of the whole series. We keep saying Charlie loves people. Charlie's about people. Charlie is deeply human and humane, right?
[00:37:04] She doesn't want to be cruel or mean to anyone. And her humanity and everything about her is all a unified whole. And Alex being able to choke off her humanity in order to lie is kind of terrifying. It's like, if you're able to do that, what else are you able to do? It's like having a superpower to suppress all of your body's involuntary responses. It's wild.
[00:37:30] I think the way she felt, how challenged she felt by it, how it was like a game to her. It was very kind of scary, but I guess she's a psycho, as she said. But it made me think back to the episode, again, with the Sleazy Georgian, where she talked about that a psychopath, a true psychopath could probably lie to her.
[00:37:55] And I think this whole thing was just, again, a great callback to that conversation. I love how this show, even the tiniest little things, like Deathly Allergic to Cinnamon, comes back later. None of it's throw away. I appreciate that they credit us for being smart enough to pick up on those things, but also to the way they write it. I just think it's so well done.
[00:38:20] They definitely gave us all the tools, because also last, I think it was last episode, when Luca was pretty sure that they had gotten the iguana. He's like, this is the first confirmation we've even had that it's a man. And I feel like I knew a little bit at the time, they're like, that means it's probably not. But I still didn't want to believe Lisa, so I wasn't ready to accept that yet. I was like, I'm just going to ignore that. By the way, Lisa, it's not personal.
[00:38:50] We just didn't want to believe the idea. No, I love her. I feel like she's very active in the chat. Yeah. She has great comments. Amazing. Yeah. Yeah. We don't want her to be offended. This has nothing to do with you as a person. I mean, that she caught that so early, I mean, is really, truly impressive. Really impressive. Even after you said it, I still didn't want to know. I didn't want to believe it.
[00:39:17] But I just wanted Charlie to have something good. Yeah, I really did. Which brings me to the dog. I love that she found a dog in the truck driver. I swear I held my breath until that guy came into view because I thought, oh, my God, it's going to be good, buddy. Oh, I wanted it so bad.
[00:39:46] It's going to be good, buddy. It made me think of The Wizard of Oz, where she's got her little dog, too. Yeah. And she's going to Kansas. Her life is kind of a tornado. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:40:16] The music on the show was really interesting, this episode. The opening credits were In a Gata De Vida by Iron Butterfly. And I have never had occasion before to look up anything about this song, but I've always thought in my head, like, what is In a Gata De Vida? It just sounds like somebody, like, drunk. Right? That's exactly what the song is. A drunk person heard someone say Garden of Eden, but heard it as Gata De Vida. And then they thought that the band was like, oh, let's make it a song.
[00:40:44] King of the Road by Roger Miller I already talked about. That's the song about drifters. It's like, I don't have any money, but I'm free. I'm on the road. Good for you. And then the ending, right, King of the Road was over the sort of fake-out ending. And then the actual ending was Bob Dylan's It's All Over Now, Baby Blue, which is a really sad song. But it wasn't Bob Dylan's version. It was the animals version, which is from 77. I didn't catch that. Good catch. I did.
[00:41:13] So, well, I watch with captions on, so it's a little bit cheating. But yeah, so they actually, they used the 70s version of the song, which I thought was really in keeping with them honoring the 70s. Yeah, the whole vibe of the show. Yeah. So cool. It's a sad, sad song, though. Yeah. It's very fitting for Charlie. Very. Some things I really loved was that Charlie's phone had Luca saved as agent fake nephew. Yeah.
[00:41:44] Call back to season one. I also noticed, and I think I knew this, but I sort of wasn't thinking about it, that the executive producers are Lila and Nora Zuckerman, called the Zucks. And they are also the executive producers on the Buffy reboot. Ooh, that makes me feel good. So I am excited about the quality of writing on this show.
[00:42:08] And that they will take that same kind of attention to detail and, like, loving craft to the Buffy reboot. Because it's, I have such high hopes for it, and I don't want to be brokenhearted by the Buffy reboot. I just don't feel like they're going to let us down. We can talk about that during Still Slang. Yeah. I think Sarah Michelle Gellar being at the helm, they're going to do us right. So hearing that gives me hope. Yeah.
[00:42:36] I was really excited when I put those two together in my head. I was like, wait a minute. Wait a minute. That sucks. Wait a minute. And then, you know, I went and looked it up and confirmed it. And I love that. But Alex and Charlie, when they're having their reveal conversation, Alex points out that, you know, Charlie's like, I like, maybe I just like people. And Alex is like, why? They lie to you all the time. And then she reminds her, like, if somebody asks you, if you ask someone a question and they lie to you, who are you talking to? Nobody. She's like, you've been talking to nobodies your whole life.
[00:43:06] I just thought that was such a bleak outlook on the world. And I hope that Charlie doesn't carry that with her into season three. The idea that everybody's just a collection of lies and you can't ever really know someone. I mean, I think it's inevitable that it's going to have a lasting effect on her. But going to what Kelsey said earlier, or one of you said earlier about Charlie's good nature,
[00:43:34] it's just who she is to care about people. She'll be cautious. She has to be. She's got a bullshit meter. But I don't, I just, if they do get a season three, I don't think that they're going to, it's going to completely ruin her. I feel like she's just, it's in her nature to be, be a kind, caring human being. And whether she wants to or not, she's going to give people, continue to give people a chance. But yeah, I agree with that. It was just devastating for a while. So, yeah.
[00:44:07] Anybody else have any like little points? I have a couple little things. Right at the beginning of the episode, when they don't know where they are, Alex is like, you know, we need to open the phone. We can't, I can't find it on the map. It's probably like two roads and three houses. And then when they get to the town of Greenville, Indiana, the sign says two roads and a handful of houses, no twin cities.
[00:44:34] It's literally the like motto on the town sign, which I thought was pretty funny. That's what it would be. There was also a couple of Sherlock references. Yeah. In this episode. Sherlock and Oriarty. And Watson, because she called herself her Watson to the, the gym murder. Yeah. To endear herself. I think it's also, it's a less popular reference, but it's very Killing Eve, the relationship that
[00:45:03] now exists between these two women. Yeah. Yes. Very, very much so. Listeners. If you haven't watched Killing Eve, it's a remarkable and very fun show. I liked the Thelma and Louise reference. Yeah. And then I love Grand Canyon Canyon. And I, I want to give a, you know, we talk about Charlie lost her only friend and now she
[00:45:29] has to part with Luca and her life that she was building, but I'd like to give a moment of silence. She lost the Barracuda too. Yeah. Ah, the brakes giving out on that car at the very last minute there was so scary. That is something I am always really afraid of is brakes not working. And I get my brake service religiously because of it. I'm like, did you check the brake pads? Are they good?
[00:45:57] Like the idea of dying that way seems so realistic and terrifying. That car had been signaling its demise far before its actual demise, unfortunately. Yeah. And narratively, I guess they had to take it away from her because it was becoming more and more ridiculous that people looking for her weren't able to be like, well, we're looking for a whatever year Barracuda. And then just like find her right away.
[00:46:27] Yeah. I wonder what she's going to do next with her. Which, what are they going to give her? Or are you going to bicycle? Yeah. I would love to see her on a Pee Wee's Big Adventure kind of bike that has a CB radio somehow. Like an electric bike that has a CB radio attached to it. That's what I wanted to do. Oh, that was, I forgot to chime in on your point earlier when you were talking about the truck. I was also wishing it was good, buddy.
[00:46:56] But at least she is in proximity of a CB radio. That's true. Ah, yeah. Because she's at least one, you know, a degree closer. I did like it when he said, where are you headed? And she said, that's a deceptively profound question. Such a Charlie statement. I love, I love it. Like, I wish I could hang out with Charlie. I think, I wish I could hang out with Natasha Lyonne. I think both of them would be just a really good hang. Oh, for sure.
[00:47:26] When they were in the car chase and I don't remember what it was. Luca was like, don't shoot the hostage or something like that. And the other agent was like, the orders came from the top. He's like, then get me the director. And she's like, no, the top, top. And he's like, the top, top. And also, she also, if you watch, she literally, she just puts her finger to her ear, turns her head and then looks up and is like, they said to take out the car. Like, it's just, you know, all that happened.
[00:47:54] She just put her finger to her ear and was like, the orders came from the top as if that happened. I don't think that's happening. Yeah. She just said it. The top, top though, made me wonder, is like, that the president or like, who's the top, top? If it's not the director of the FBI, it's got to be the president, right? She probably had like a disconnected phone bud in her ear. Yeah. Maybe she made it up. Who knows? She seems pretty prickly. There's no telling what that woman would do.
[00:48:21] I mean, probably it was probably connected, but I think it was just sort of, it was just silly. Yeah. Talking about just thinking about season three, because I didn't immediately go straight to Googling. Have they given a green light on season three? So I was just kind of like, I sat there for a minute after watching it because it was such a great episode.
[00:48:47] And from the, to be continued thinking, shut up, this is it. And then the rewind and giving us an ending and then the great ending, the heartfelt, everything. So I just think they, they did a phenomenal job of setting up a season three where, you know, she's on the run again, which I hate because they gave us a taste of her finding a home.
[00:49:13] And I still stand by, she could have been like a contractor or consultant for Luca out figuring out things for him, but we're not, that's not how it's going to go. The main thing I heard from a lot of people who were disappointed with this season is that she wasn't on the run and it didn't make her story as Charlie-esque as it should have been. Well, now here you go. You got that back.
[00:49:40] But also not only is she running from the FBI, but she's also kind of running from Alex because Alex wasn't in the car. So she's out there somewhere and being the resourceful, psychotic assassin that she is, Charlie's looking over her shoulder for Alex as well. So I just think that adds to the intensity of what could happen for a season three.
[00:50:07] I think they did a great job setting it up is my point. I can't get to point A to point B without, I have like a worse limit, I have to hit every day. Sorry. That's really funny. It just occurred to me that the very first episode of the season, the one with Cynthia
[00:50:59] Erivo, there's that great shot of Charlie and I think three Cynthia Erivos looking down from above a cliff at, you know, it's from the looking up. And then in this episode, there was a shot looking up at Charlie and Luca looking over the edge of a cliff. Just a nice little like visual bookends for the episode. Good catch.
[00:51:23] I guess I'm a little concerned about whether or not we'll get a season three because, well, actually before I even say that, the to be continued and I was yelling. Yeah. I was like, no, no, no. That's 35 minutes. That's 35 minutes. No. It was like uncomfortably long before they re-round. I'm like, okay, all right. All right.
[00:51:53] Well, apparently if you watched it on NBC and not on Peacock, there was a commercial break after the to be continued and before the rewind. There was a Peacock with commercials. Oh, the Peacock with commercials. I have Peacock with commercials. So yeah, it was there. I didn't. And then my parents were watching it later last night and I was watching them watch it. And they got to that part and they're like, oh, okay.
[00:52:21] Guess we'll need to find, wait till next year. And my mom like went up to go to the bathroom. I'm like, no, no, no, no. It's not over. Like you gotta, you gotta go back and finish it. There's actually still more TV show. And they're like, oh, okay. I just, I wonder how many people that happened to, you know, who were like, that's what they saw at the end and they didn't stick with it. I don't know. It's so funny. I saw, I went to the movies yesterday and I saw the new Superman movie and when it ended
[00:52:51] and you know, the credit started, I saw like 20 people simultaneously take their phone out and I know they were all Googling. Is there a mid credit sequence? And then we all like stayed and watched mid and end credit sequences. So it was hilarious. Oh, I loved it. I loved it. Oh, thank goodness. I'm going to see that sometime in the next two weeks. And I'm very, very excited. I need DC to give us something really good. It's poppy and heartfelt.
[00:53:20] I really, really liked it. Awesome. So with that said, and an unsolicited review of the new Superman movie. Let's get into the news. As we've said, there's no news yet about a renewal for season three. But I did find a cool interview with Patty Harrison. Before we dive into the interview with Patty Harrison, I did read an article, The Wrap. Mm-hmm.
[00:53:49] I was like Googling to see if there's any news about season three. And I forget which one of the writers they interviewed. But they are open to a season three. But basically said it's up to Natasha Lyonne, Ryan, and Peacock if they want to continue on. So I'm hoping that they'll get enough accolades from everyone this season that they will go ahead and do so.
[00:54:17] So we're saying there's a chance. There's a chance. Oh, I hope so. I know what I want to happen. I know what you guys want to happen. So I don't know how to, I don't know. Maybe if we all manifest. Manifest. Manifest. That shit really does work. We'll get a season three. I can only hope. So this interview with Patty Harrison, it's long. We'll put a link in the show notes if you want to read the whole thing.
[00:54:47] It's all really good. But I thought these two paragraphs were sort of the most important. Kelsey, want to read the first one and then Becky the second one? When presented with the opportunity to play against type, the comedian jumped at the chance as it's revealed that the unassuming Alex was a bored assassin who not only killed mob boss Beatrix Haas,
[00:55:08] Rea Perlman, revealed to be under witness protection by the FBI, but her big fish was Charlie all along, lying to her from the very beginning since they met. I feel so blown away and lucky to get to play what is really a dream role. Not even just I was about to say my whole life as soon as I could imagine what it would be like to act. I wanted to play an assassin or a ninja or something. But as a kid, I actually wanted to be an assassin or a ninja.
[00:55:37] So it's kind of better for everyone if I just do it on screen. And I'm still not sure on that. Harrison said. I'm taking Mai Tai, self-defense, jiu-jitsu, Krav Maga class. And I found that my ability to overpower someone else is very far away in the future and maybe not even. Maybe the opportunity for that was in the past.
[00:56:00] And now I'm best used just kind of pretending I can beat people up when actually in real life, everyone on earth would whoop my ass. She goes on to say, Okay, the actual process of building the character and stuff is really fun. It was really daunting. I appreciated how much space I had with fleshing out the character. But I do think they also wanted something specifically with the tone.
[00:56:25] And I think a lot of times that's challenging if you're in a dramedy or a show that tonally needs to be able to get back to the emotional stakes without being too hammy or weird. And so Natasha really had a vision for the character, but she really gave me space to throw dot, dot, dot spaghetti at the wall. That's what it felt like. And Tony Toast, who's the showrunner, was incredible. Truly such a rock.
[00:56:51] And what I will say is his humor, but also his understanding of where the core pain and sort of darkness of these people and what the stakes would be if they lost something. It's just the way that he explains the story. That's great. There was also a part where the interviewer asked her if Alex would be coming back in season three. And she said that NBC has special ninja assassins that will come and get you if you talk about things like that. That's great.
[00:57:23] Just not her, but that's clever. We have three pieces of listener feedback this week. No live Steve this week. I think he mentioned that he was out of town or something this week. So no live Steve. No live Steve. Yeah. I'll just have to come back so I can get a live Steve. Exactly. That's what's going to happen. We will be guesting on Dexter if you want to come. Oh, I've totally done for that. Well, yeah.
[00:57:52] Now I realize what the show you were talking about is. I will be watching that. Awesome. So the first one, of course, is from Lisa Spear who said, vindicated, LOL. It was great seeing Alex as the iguana. That actress was wonderful. Can we give Lisa a slow clap? Yeah. Well done, Lisa. I'm sorry. I don't know how that's going to translate. I don't know either, but just know we did give you one because you called it.
[00:58:22] Well done. Matt King says, well, that was some finale, especially with the Thelma and Louise fake ending. They've certainly set up season three with Charlie on the run again. As some expected, it was Alex all along and pretty poor judgment of Charlie to take her to the safe house. Will they be able to confirm how many bodies were in the fire? Indeed. Is there any way Alex could escape the car before it hit the deck?
[00:58:50] I think that's what they were showing. Right. There was no one in the car. Yeah. I think when I can't remember her name. I just want to call her Piper. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. When she was looking at the car, I think it was pretty. There was nobody in it was the point. Maybe they'll have Alex come back, but have some kind of hideous burn. And therefore, she's like angry at Charlie about it.
[00:59:17] Well, as much as she said she could do in her run on assassinating people, I feel like there's legit a way she probably had some kind of like Batman hook where she just shot it out of the car and was hanging from like far away rock that nobody could see her. So I do think it is. There's definitely a way she could have escaped. They also showed her getting out of one car already very quickly or didn't show her,
[00:59:47] but she disappeared from two cars very quickly in this episode. Yeah. Yeah. So I think it's possible, Matt. Christina Boyd Taylor says, I was so surprised that Alex was the bad guy. I did not expect that at all. I was so happy for Charlie to have a friend. I loved the episode, though. Her order at the diner had me cracking up dot dot dot cheeseburgers, fries and a couple of Xanax.
[01:00:14] Emoji with crying eyes laughing and the waitress response. I was so happy to see Luca again, but I teared up at the end when they have to say goodbye and was about to freak out when the to be continued came on the screen. Same. Luckily, they didn't leave me hanging. Ten out of ten. And there better be a season three because I need more. Charlie. Heart eyes emoji. I agree. Yeah. Back up everything you said, Christina.
[01:00:45] So one thing we haven't talked about is the season as a whole and just wondering how you would review it if you were going to review the season as a whole. What about you, Kelsey? I mean, I loved it. I liked it even more than the first season. Maybe maybe we just knew Charlie a little bit more, but I touched on a little bit earlier. The whole season just felt like a love letter to to movies and entertainment and to viewers. And it was all handled so lovingly.
[01:01:14] I just I enjoyed it so much. I was actually slow to start this season because there was a, you know, a bunch of other things going on. But like I liked the first season. I really liked it. Monk is one of my favorite shows and it has so much in common with that or delivers so much of that to me. But I was slow to start it. But then once I watched the first couple episodes, I was like, oh, I'm in. I'm down. And I've rewatched episodes from this season.
[01:01:43] And it just doesn't. I don't know. Last season just seemed like such a different experience than this one. Maybe because she's not on the run for the mob. So it was very like, what's Charlie going to do? Yeah. Instead of how is Charlie going to survive? But yeah, I loved it. I really I hope there's a season three. How about you, Becky? I loved it, too. I I've enjoyed every season, but I don't know. Just this one tugged at my heartstrings more.
[01:02:11] I felt this season was more emotional. It made me feel more other than just murder mystery after murder mystery after murder mystery. This one. There's no there's only one episode that I could go back and say I probably would skip. It's just a sleazy Georgia. And that was just I don't know why that episode. I just didn't love it. But I see it was one of my favorites. Yeah, everybody. I think I'm I think I am the lone wolf on that one.
[01:02:37] And but I just loved the introduction of good buddy, even though she turned out to be crazy. I love seeing Charlie build a relationship with somebody. I love seeing her wake up in the same place. I think the cast of guest actors and the characters that they played from the get go. They started off with a bang with Cynthia Erivo.
[01:03:01] And they just every episode, almost every episode just really tugged at my heartstrings and made me just have a whole new, I guess, appreciation for the character of Charlie. And then just sheer talent of Natasha Lyonne and what she can do and how she can build up every person in a scene with her. She's just she's incredible. And I loved it.
[01:03:28] And I genuinely do hope even if it's the last season that they'll give us just one more ride with Charlie before it's all done. Do you have a favorite guest star? Luca. Luca. He's always going to be my favorite guest star, but I guess outside of him. I don't know. How about you, Kelsey?
[01:03:52] Favorite is probably between Cynthia Erivo, because I got to appreciate her in a pretty different way. Mm hmm. Or Awkwafina was really good. Oh, she was good. Yeah. That episode was amazing. Who was your favorite, Penny? Well, I'm tempted to say Melanie Linsky because she's out there. How much I love her. I also really enjoyed both Method Man and Jason Ritter.
[01:04:21] I thought they were they were really great. Who would you want to guest star? Oh, God. So many people. Elizabeth Moss. Yeah, that would be amazing. She's so talented. And if you're going to just start mining people from Handmaid's Tale, Bradley Whitford. Right? Oh, gosh. Yes. Whit would be. He would be. Fantastic. That would be lovely. Ted Danson. I want Danny DeVito. Oh, Danny DeVito.
[01:04:51] Danny DeVito would be amazing. That would be really funny. I really enjoyed the episode with the kids and seeing Charlie interact with his private school brats. And I'd like to see another kid based episode. I think that would be fun. Oh, dance moms. I think that might be my favorite of the season. Oh, God. Dance moms. Or like toddlers in tiaras. Yeah. Ooh. That would be hilarious if she somehow got a job at a toddler beauty pageant.
[01:05:21] Well, she could even just be like a janitor at an auditorium. And oh, my jersey came out there for a second. I heard that. I like it. Every once in a while it slips out. Just muscle memory. I'd like to see her at like a cheer college or something. Oh, that'd be hilarious. Yeah. There's so many. There's literally. There's so many things. No limit, right? They can go in so many directions and have her just travel around the country forever
[01:05:47] taking weird jobs and getting mixed up in weird crimes. She could go. She could work on a yacht, boat or. Oh, she could be like a Maine lobster fisher. That'd be so fun. I saw an interview. They were talking about like, oh, they want to drop her into like a wrestling environment. Like world, like WWE environment. One of the writers was saying. Oh, that's a guest star.
[01:06:15] If they do that, I want the rock. Ooh. That would be really, really funny. And Kevin Hart in one episode. Johnson. Oh, my God. Yeah. They better give us a season three. I just I'll keep my fingers crossed. Oh, I was actually when I was looking at the Wheel of Fortune was playing in the background. Mm hmm. And it wasn't a the episode.
[01:06:39] It was like a it aired last May and it went viral because the guy guessed right in the butt. Yeah. The answer was like and you can actually hear that in the background of the show. The answer was like best in. Something or whatever. That's hilarious. But it. Things. Because of what I had found when I was curious about the Jeopardy episodes, the J archive.
[01:07:09] I was curious if there was something similar for Wheel of Fortune and not entirely. But when I did look at it and it'll show you it kind of shows you like all of the puzzle solutions just in like a list. And I was looking at it like you could pretty much use any of these for inspiration as an episode for Poker Face. It was like one way street. An evening at the opera. That may take the cake.
[01:07:39] Imports and exports. I feel like any of these could be like you could take this and run with it and make them a Poker Face episode. That would be so funny. It would be funny if that's how they did it. If they were like. It kind of reminds me of I have a friend who's a novelist and a poet. And when she solves the wordle every day, she makes a poem out of the words, her like test, the words that failed and the solution.
[01:08:08] Oh, that's such a good idea. It works them all into a poem. It's really cute. That is cute. It's a really good like exercise. Yeah. I think it's really creative. I was like, if I steal that idea, are you going to be mad? And she's like, I don't care. It's fine. I think what we've discovered is Natasha Lyonne and writers and producers, if you're listening, call us because we have plenty for season three. Yeah.
[01:08:37] And four and five. We can make it work. I have complete faith that this show could have many, many more seasons in it. Hopefully they want to. It would be great. At least close this out. Yeah. Well, with that, I'm going to say thanks to everybody who wrote in and called in all season. We love your feedback. Obviously, if you send in a bunch of feedback and we can hear you have a good voice, we'll invite you to come on.
[01:09:09] And that's literally how this works. That's how I ended up podcasting the first time was that I was a feedback person and Becky was a feedback person. It just, that's how it happens. I mean, I finally got the nerve up to send in a voicemail feedback like a month ago. Yeah. And here we are. And it's addictive. You'll find. It is. I like told my boss, I told my dad, I told my friend. I was like, I'm doing a podcast. That's the same thing I did. I was so excited. Same.
[01:09:38] I'm also, I'm 32. So it's like, it really, it feels, I mean, it's like overdue. It's like a millennial rite of passage. You have to podcast. What are you doing if you're not podcasting? I remember one week you sent in written feedback. We were all bummed. I was like, oh, okay. It was you and Mandy. Yeah. And it was the week after I had sent the Jeopardy! feedback. And I was like, I was really self-conscious about how long it was. Oh, yeah.
[01:10:07] And I was like, oh, well, and if they talked about this, then like, this is just going to be super repetitive. And so I just sent written feedback. But now you know. Yeah. We got it. I know. Yeah. Because we didn't get your voicemail until. Yeah. There was one week where we got it a week late. So, yeah. I took a play from a couple of other guys I've podcasted with where they play the previous week's feedback before the episode. And Mandy. I really like that. It works. I think it just, I think it really works.
[01:10:36] But Mandy was very jealous when I told her you were going to be on with us tonight. She fell in love with you when you started talking to Jeopardy! facts. So, yeah. I do love Jeopardy! And this season, there has been so much about my grandma. I swear. She is a librarian. She loved Jeopardy! She chewed Big Red. Big Red. Like, those are like three essential facts about her.
[01:11:03] Like, when she would come and watch me, she would bribe me out of bed to go to school with packs of Big Red. That's hilarious. And we would watch Jeopardy! And she would watch some Wheel of Fortune, too. So, that's the end of the show. This is the finale for season two. So, we're done for now. But you want to get in touch, you can still find all of our contact info at podcastica.com. And you can hear me on What's On Tonight, along with Penny.
[01:11:33] And hopefully, Kelsey will join us for an episode. And Penny's going to guest. Well, we're getting ready to talk about Dexter Resurrection. I am so excited for this. And I hope it lives up to the hype. So, come on over to What's On Tonight and give us a listen, please. And if you aren't tired of listening to me, you can join us over on Still Slaying, a Buffyverse podcast. We have a lot of fun over there.
[01:12:02] We cover Buffy and Angel, the spinoff series. And every now and then, we do a movie. About one or two, a season of the show, just to break things up. And next week, we're going to be covering the smash hit, Sinners. And I'm super excited about talking about that because I loved it. I haven't seen it yet. It's so good. I haven't been wanting to cough up the $20. Oh, do you have HBO Max? It's on Max now. Is it? Oh, I'll have to look.
[01:12:31] I haven't been able to log in. So, I need to figure that out. Reset password. Well, yeah, it's complicated. There's a story there. Internet technology. Yeah. Well, that's all for this episode. Thanks, everybody, for listening. And Christina Boyd-Taylor, we know what you did, you psycho. And if you don't chew Big Red, then fuck you.
[01:13:07] And scene. I'm Courtney Act. Many of you may know me from RuPaul's Drag Race, Celebrity Big Brother, Dancing with the Stars, or probably my hit album, Kaleidoscope. Well, guess what? I have got a brand new show called R&R with Courtney Act. And I want you to check it out. You know, I hate small talk.
[01:13:36] I want to go deep. And I want to go quickly. And on my show, we do just that. In today's world, it feels really polarized. And we're more connected than ever. But really, we can feel isolated. And I don't like that. I want the story shared here on R&R to make us realize that our similarities are greater than our differences. So join me and my fabulous guests like Nicole Byer, Tom Daly, Margaret Cho, Katia, Adore Delano, Jackie Beat, and many more. If you're looking for some rest and relaxation, you've come to the wrong place.
