In this episode, Pake and Daphne revisit the American horror comedy Tremors, which was the first episode of RFYL in 2020. It was directed by Ron Underwood and released on January 19, 1990.

[00:00:00] You're listening to the Run for Your Lives Podcast.
[00:00:31] Hey everyone, welcome to the show. I'm Daphne.
[00:00:35] And I'm Pake.
[00:00:37] And this is the Run for Your Lives Podcast.
[00:00:41] This episode we are talking about once more again, the monster comedy horror film Tremors
[00:00:50] directed by Ron Underwood and released on January 19th, 1990.
[00:00:56] Yes, if that sounds familiar to you for longtime listeners, yeah, you're not just
[00:01:02] re-listening to a re-upload of episode one of Run for Your Lives.
[00:01:05] Don't worry.
[00:01:06] This is still episode 174.
[00:01:09] We are continuing on.
[00:01:12] This is current.
[00:01:13] But yeah, we are going back to the very first episode ever of Run for Your
[00:01:18] Lives and covering Tremors.
[00:01:20] Those of you who have been on the journey with us know we always end each season
[00:01:25] before the look back and the awards special with a Tremors movie.
[00:01:29] And last season, we wrapped it up with Shrieker Island.
[00:01:33] And so we kind of figured to go full circle.
[00:01:36] We'd go back to the first one.
[00:01:37] Now I don't think we're not going to go back through two through seven
[00:01:40] each season as we did.
[00:01:41] We will.
[00:01:42] We'll we have some ideas of where to go from here.
[00:01:44] But this podcast has grown and changed in a lot of ways since episode one.
[00:01:51] And so we wanted to revisit it with more of our like character analysis and talking
[00:01:55] about those kind of things versus, you know, it works for a lot of podcasts.
[00:01:58] But for us, our early footing, we were kind of in this weird formula of like
[00:02:03] talk about points and then quotes and then these things.
[00:02:07] And it just kind of grown to like that's not really us and that's not
[00:02:10] really how we work so well.
[00:02:12] So I figured we'd give this movie another look through our new style for
[00:02:16] Matt and Lenz.
[00:02:18] I don't know if we're going to break it down any deeper.
[00:02:20] This might still be a 50 minute episode just like that one.
[00:02:23] It's not like maybe a little bit longer, too much deeper, but at least
[00:02:28] kind of look at it a different way.
[00:02:29] And then maybe there's some updates on things that we said or did in that
[00:02:34] first episode, because I'll go ahead and say, I remember I know in talking
[00:02:37] about that when I'm like, oh my God, if I could just meet Michael Gross,
[00:02:40] that'd be like the greatest thing ever.
[00:02:41] And like update now I have and it was the greatest thing ever.
[00:02:45] He's an incredible person.
[00:02:47] And so like there's things that like I can talk about that I couldn't talk
[00:02:51] about on that first time because there has been tremors updates in my life
[00:02:54] since we first covered this movie.
[00:02:57] Well, back when we covered the first tremors in our first episode,
[00:03:03] Shrieker Island had not been released and it was known under a different
[00:03:07] name, Island Fury.
[00:03:10] And so we recorded our first episode two or three months before.
[00:03:17] Shrieker Island was released or planning to be released, so.
[00:03:22] Yeah, a lot has happened.
[00:03:25] And one of my questions for you was going to be, how is it different
[00:03:29] for you getting ready to talk about this movie knowing that
[00:03:32] you've met some of the cast?
[00:03:34] Yeah, that's really cool.
[00:03:35] Like there's there's things that I'll talk about that.
[00:03:38] Yeah, we're definitely because of meeting.
[00:03:41] People and things so yeah, I've met a lot of awesome people,
[00:03:45] not even just tremors related like in tremors, but then just tremors
[00:03:49] like Levi with their podcast and Zoran Gavoy, it's from Dead Meat
[00:03:54] and different people that I've connected to because of tremors.
[00:04:00] And I've gotten to know other people in those regards
[00:04:03] that are really cool.
[00:04:04] So different connections, people done some cool things like tremors
[00:04:07] fest and.
[00:04:09] Doing some stuff like that and hopefully more to come.
[00:04:12] We've talked about tremors fest for this year, it's still happening in October.
[00:04:16] So if you're a huge tremors fan listening to this and you don't know
[00:04:18] about tremors fest, definitely look that up at the Violet Crown in Santa Fe,
[00:04:22] New Mexico, take the second weekend of October.
[00:04:25] Unfortunately, I don't think I'm going to be able to make it this year.
[00:04:28] And I'm a little sad about that because I was really looking to like
[00:04:31] catching up with some of the cast of this movie and things
[00:04:34] and other people connected.
[00:04:37] But maybe there will be a third one, maybe we'll continue on
[00:04:40] and I'll have another chance to do it.
[00:04:43] But yeah, there'll be definitely things I'm going to talk about.
[00:04:46] From there, you know, especially this movie, it's like Michael Gross
[00:04:49] spending time with him was incredible, life changing, maybe
[00:04:54] I'm going to be dramatic.
[00:04:56] But then also it's like the character of Melvin in this movie is like,
[00:05:00] God, he is just still such an annoying little brat.
[00:05:03] But now that I've actually hung out with Robert Jane or he's
[00:05:07] Bobby Jacoby credited in this movie that he's gone on,
[00:05:11] he's changed his name for even like professional purposes
[00:05:15] and like what he's credited.
[00:05:16] But yeah, getting to like getting to kind of know Rob and talk to him.
[00:05:19] Like I see him more now in Melvin.
[00:05:22] I'm like, I just such a good dude.
[00:05:24] It's just like, no, for me, Melvin is still a little shit.
[00:05:30] And he always will be.
[00:05:33] But also Bobby Jacoby or Robert Jane,
[00:05:39] he was in a bunch of other movies where he played a little shit.
[00:05:42] So for me, that's who he's going to be. Oh, yeah.
[00:05:48] Also before or when we covered this movie,
[00:05:51] I had only ever seen the first tremors.
[00:05:53] I had not seen the entire series, so it was different
[00:05:57] to go back and watch it again.
[00:05:59] Having seen everything else.
[00:06:02] Yeah, you can see so many call backs that were made in future
[00:06:07] movies to this movie and like big and little ways.
[00:06:11] Like I mean, the chainsaw reference comes back in the third one.
[00:06:14] I think Nestor just throws out like, I'll just get a chainsaw.
[00:06:17] And I'm thinking like, actually, Burt shows that'll work.
[00:06:20] If you wait a couple of movies
[00:06:23] or just like different things like, you know, for all we know, they can fly.
[00:06:26] And it's like also made a couple more movies.
[00:06:30] But then even like the water, like Rhonda knocking the water down
[00:06:33] is referenced in Cold Day in Hell in an interesting way, very different way.
[00:06:37] But like they make that reference or even going all the way to Shrieker Island
[00:06:41] with Val jumping out of the way at the last second to send.
[00:06:45] The the grab boy through the cliff, all Buffalo Jump style.
[00:06:51] They they bring that back around.
[00:06:52] So there's a lot of really cool nods
[00:06:55] in this movie that you see sprinkled throughout.
[00:06:58] It's all watched them all now, then you can recognize and pick those out.
[00:07:01] Yeah, it's also really cool to look at the evolution of Burt Gummer as a character,
[00:07:08] having seen him in additional movies
[00:07:11] or he's the connecting thread through all of them.
[00:07:15] He really was just a side character in this one,
[00:07:19] but he grew to be the leading man that we all knew we needed
[00:07:23] to lead the franchise.
[00:07:26] But there was something about going back and watching this one again
[00:07:31] and seeing his scenes with Michael Gross, with Reba McIntyre,
[00:07:36] Bert and Heather Gummer and really reconnecting with those characters,
[00:07:41] as well as Val and Earl and everyone else that made it even more fun.
[00:07:47] And I really appreciate this movie even more,
[00:07:50] having seen all of the sequels.
[00:07:54] Despite the fact I didn't love the way the last one ended,
[00:07:59] I'm still in a million depressions over it. Right.
[00:08:05] It's fun to because this was our first episode that we ever did.
[00:08:09] And people may not know it was kind of a tryout
[00:08:14] to see if we could podcast together and how it would be. Yeah.
[00:08:17] And it was like 10 minutes in where I knew.
[00:08:22] I'm like, yeah, this can work.
[00:08:24] This is going to be great because we got along really well
[00:08:27] and played off of each other.
[00:08:28] And the rest is history again.
[00:08:31] This is episode 174.
[00:08:34] So we must be doing something right to be able to get to this.
[00:08:39] And one thing I thought immediately
[00:08:44] was we were really robbed of the TV series with Kevin Bacon.
[00:08:49] Yeah, I.
[00:08:51] I wish that that could be a thing, but that is a whole different conversation
[00:08:55] that we have had with Levi, I think, on their podcast.
[00:08:59] I think we talked about it a little bit.
[00:09:01] And yeah, yeah, that's just it's a whole thing.
[00:09:06] Which, yeah, if you've listened to our conversations with Levi or
[00:09:10] the like the Trimmers Fest episode or like when we were on
[00:09:14] Talking Trimmers or different things, if you've connected those,
[00:09:17] you can go out and find all kinds of deeper conversations about all of that stuff.
[00:09:20] I don't we don't need to rehash that.
[00:09:23] Yeah, we three hours on Levi's podcast.
[00:09:29] Yeah, that was a lot of fun.
[00:09:31] A very, very long conversation.
[00:09:34] Yes.
[00:09:37] Well, I think we should proceed with this episode
[00:09:41] the way that we always do with episodes now.
[00:09:45] And we'll dive into some production notes.
[00:09:48] Filming took place around Lone Pine, California
[00:09:52] and the isolated community of Darwin, California.
[00:09:56] As I mentioned, this is the first episode of Run Fair Lives
[00:09:59] that we recorded back in July of 2020.
[00:10:02] This is the first of seven films that make up the Trummers franchise.
[00:10:06] And it's also the shortest movie at 95 minutes.
[00:10:11] It was the first film that Ron Underwood directed.
[00:10:14] He went on to helm City Slickers and Mighty Joe Young
[00:10:18] before switching to mostly television.
[00:10:21] The budget was six to 10 million.
[00:10:24] It only grossed 16.7 million at the box office,
[00:10:29] but it has a huge cult following with all the direct to video sequels.
[00:10:35] Paik, bring us a synopsis.
[00:10:38] All right. And since if we did synopsis,
[00:10:41] I don't even remember if we did in episode one.
[00:10:43] We did. Then it probably would have been just the first one off of IMDB.
[00:10:47] So I wasn't going to do that again.
[00:10:49] So I went to the power of AI and talked into chat GPT.
[00:10:52] It talked that into giving me a little something.
[00:10:54] So here's the chat GPT one, because it's a little different
[00:10:58] in a dusty desert town, a group of eccentric locals
[00:11:01] battles, gigantic underground worms hell bent on turning them into lunch.
[00:11:04] It's a wild ride of survival, humor and unexpected heroism.
[00:11:09] That's wonderful, because I actually have the initial
[00:11:12] original synopsis that you used and I had to double check
[00:11:16] to see if you just pulled the same one in.
[00:11:18] And I'm so proud of you for going the extra mile and.
[00:11:22] Yes, because coming up typing in a prop, going to chat GPT and going,
[00:11:26] give me a clever synopsis on tremors is an extra mile of work.
[00:11:31] Sure. It is for you.
[00:11:37] Yeah. And you mentioned again with your production notes
[00:11:38] while I was thinking about it. Yeah. With Ron Underwood directing.
[00:11:42] I don't know if I'd put it together.
[00:11:44] Maybe again, I have I don't re listen to our episode,
[00:11:46] so maybe I mentioned this when we covered the first tremors in episode one.
[00:11:50] But with Mighty Joe Young coming up, I loved that movie as a kid.
[00:11:55] It was one of my like absolute things that I like was.
[00:11:58] And I didn't realize it was Ron Underwood that also did like tremors
[00:12:01] that did not made that connection until so maybe whenever we
[00:12:05] we covered it for here and then maybe you brought that up.
[00:12:07] So I might have talked about it and then.
[00:12:10] But either way, then that was also a cool thing with Tremors Fest
[00:12:13] was to like meet Ron and talk to him a little bit.
[00:12:17] But then, of course, it's all Tremors Fest, so we're talking tremors.
[00:12:20] But then I had this moment where I could also go,
[00:12:22] by the way, even though this is a tremors thing, thank you for Mighty
[00:12:25] Joe Young, because that was a huge part of my childhood.
[00:12:28] And they finally get that connection as well with the director of that movie
[00:12:31] was something that like would freak my like kid self out if I would have been like,
[00:12:35] oh, by the way, you'll get to like meet and hang out
[00:12:37] with the director of this movie that you have worn the VHS out on
[00:12:40] because you can't stop watching it once you're finally an adult.
[00:12:43] You'll get that opportunity.
[00:12:46] Yes. And you did have that great opportunity at Tremors Fest.
[00:12:50] And yeah, like you said earlier, we were both planning to go,
[00:12:54] but they changed the date and it doesn't work.
[00:13:00] Which is a bummer because I was really looking forward to meeting Levi.
[00:13:04] Yeah. And Caitlin.
[00:13:06] Yeah. Maybe maybe in the future.
[00:13:07] However, before we really get into the meat of this movie,
[00:13:10] why does one make another plug?
[00:13:11] The reason we're not really going to be able to do Tremors Fest
[00:13:14] in October is because it's very close to another meetup and things.
[00:13:20] So if you are listening to this as a podcast, a fan and listener,
[00:13:23] especially if you listen to other podcast shows like The Cast of Us
[00:13:27] and House Podcast, and all of the other fun stuff going on,
[00:13:31] the the Marvel shows, the Star Wars shows, whatever it may be.
[00:13:36] We are having a like podcast to come meet up.
[00:13:40] That's why we can't do that.
[00:13:41] And so throw that information out there
[00:13:44] so that if anybody who is a listener is interested and can meet up with us,
[00:13:49] kind of find a way to do that if you're in the area or want to travel.
[00:13:54] We can hook you up if you're in the like
[00:13:55] Patreon and Facebook groups and all that.
[00:13:58] But we'll be having a big meetup in Galveston, Texas, in October this year,
[00:14:03] which is nice for me because it's the first meetup
[00:14:04] I don't have to get on a plane for.
[00:14:05] So that's going to be cool.
[00:14:07] That was my role last year because I got to drive down to Boston.
[00:14:11] Yeah, you get the opportunity this time.
[00:14:15] Yeah. So if there's any southeastern Texas listeners
[00:14:18] or people who are just like have the ability is like,
[00:14:21] yeah, I'd love to like meet podcasts of people or hang out.
[00:14:26] Then, yeah, reach out and get some information
[00:14:28] and we'll plan like even if there's just people
[00:14:31] who want to meet up for lunch or something for a day.
[00:14:34] Get in touch and we'll figure out how to do that,
[00:14:36] because Podcastica will be due in Galveston in October.
[00:14:39] So yeah, it's going to be fun.
[00:14:41] I am looking forward to going back to Texas.
[00:14:47] I have never been to Galveston, so this should be interesting.
[00:14:52] And as it works out this year,
[00:14:55] a lot of my skating events are in Texas for some reason.
[00:14:59] Not sure why, but I'm making a few videos
[00:15:03] taking a few trips to Texas in 2024.
[00:15:08] It's a fun place to be.
[00:15:11] I've been here my whole life.
[00:15:12] I'm sure it's even more fun for temporary visits
[00:15:15] than to get out of here and not have to live here all the time
[00:15:18] for some other reasons and other things,
[00:15:20] but you know, it is what it is.
[00:15:26] Something else I uncovered when I was getting ready
[00:15:30] to do this episode, Peg, is that you ended our very first episode
[00:15:34] with good night, not bye-bye.
[00:15:38] Really?
[00:15:39] Yeah.
[00:15:41] That was a lot of fun to go back and do a little bit of the research
[00:15:44] and just kind of see how we did things.
[00:15:46] And it was, like you said, incredibly different than how we are now.
[00:15:50] And I love our format now,
[00:15:53] so I'm excited to be able to break this one down,
[00:15:57] especially because it's one of your favorite movies,
[00:16:00] if not your favorite movie.
[00:16:01] And I'm glad that we get to talk about it again.
[00:16:04] It's cool.
[00:16:05] And it does have a little Jurassic Park connection
[00:16:08] because Mindy, AKA Ariana Richards,
[00:16:14] this was a couple years before she played Lex in Jurassic Park.
[00:16:18] Yep.
[00:16:19] Yeah, and I'm sure we talked about that when we covered this.
[00:16:22] Oh, of course we did.
[00:16:23] Because Jurassic Park was also right there in that first season.
[00:16:25] Because that's the thing, I never went back and listened.
[00:16:27] So when we run over these notes in a minute,
[00:16:30] I purposely left some stuff out because I was like,
[00:16:32] we talked about this and we don't need to rehash it.
[00:16:35] But then there's other things.
[00:16:36] I'm like, we probably talked about this,
[00:16:37] but I'm going to point it out again because it's quick and it's fun.
[00:16:39] So we'll just see where those things go.
[00:16:42] It's going to be interesting.
[00:16:44] I really don't remember much about our first recording
[00:16:47] because it was our first recording.
[00:16:49] And like with any new thing, you get a little bit nervous
[00:16:53] and you just, I don't know, you want to do a good job.
[00:16:57] So I don't remember.
[00:16:58] So, you know, let's just see where it goes.
[00:17:02] We are going to attack it though, the way that we do with,
[00:17:07] you know, the main character.
[00:17:08] Although in this case, I really feel like there were two main characters.
[00:17:12] Oh, yeah. In mine, because we didn't do characters like this
[00:17:15] in the first episode. We did not.
[00:17:16] Points are like kind of general like things.
[00:17:20] Yeah. So no, so we'll do the character thing this time.
[00:17:22] So yeah, Val and Earl is my first character section.
[00:17:26] They are. Sympatico.
[00:17:28] They are together.
[00:17:29] They're the you can't have one without the other.
[00:17:33] So that's what we're doing.
[00:17:35] They're not married, Peg.
[00:17:37] Are you are you thinking that there's something going on there?
[00:17:41] I mean, again, go listen to episodes of Levi's podcast.
[00:17:45] And there's all kinds of theorizing about what their relationship
[00:17:48] really could have been. But no, that's all just fun speculation.
[00:17:52] I'm not opening that can of worms at all. But but yeah, no.
[00:17:57] I do think that Val and Earl are one of the best bromances
[00:18:01] that we have ever had to, you know, discussing it on this podcast.
[00:18:07] They need each other.
[00:18:08] They really need each other.
[00:18:10] They're whatever, you know,
[00:18:13] they have a great relationship. Yes.
[00:18:16] Is it, you know, like just as friends, they have a great friendship,
[00:18:19] a great relationship, but they do have the relationship
[00:18:22] of an old married couple. Absolutely.
[00:18:24] They do. They like them.
[00:18:26] Oh, my God.
[00:18:28] That was the thing, because just going back through this movie
[00:18:34] and having listened to Levi's podcast before now,
[00:18:39] which I hadn't at the time, because I didn't know Levi
[00:18:43] we were doing it.
[00:18:45] It's interesting because I found myself paying more attention
[00:18:50] to the characters and I don't get the hint of them
[00:18:56] being involved with each other in any other way than.
[00:18:59] No, it's pretty clear they're not.
[00:19:01] Yeah, it's it's just fun to like
[00:19:04] joke about and talk about and make certain people upset online
[00:19:08] whenever you talk about it, because they get real grumpy
[00:19:10] and it's it's hilarious.
[00:19:13] They do get upset.
[00:19:14] Yeah, talking about it.
[00:19:17] Yeah, Val and Earl have a very intimate friendship,
[00:19:20] but not intimate in the terms of. Right.
[00:19:24] Physical, sexual, right?
[00:19:27] Experiences just they are like you can imagine
[00:19:30] you don't get a lot of the back story.
[00:19:31] You can imagine they are lifelong best friends.
[00:19:34] You can imagine they have probably been hanging out
[00:19:36] with each other in perfection or whatever near area
[00:19:40] since they were younger than Mindy.
[00:19:41] Like they were probably little boys hanging out,
[00:19:45] best friends from the beginning.
[00:19:46] And so, yeah, they have that kind of relationship
[00:19:50] where they are just like as close as close can be as friends.
[00:19:53] Yeah. And that's amazing.
[00:19:55] Like that I know Earl is actually older than Val is.
[00:19:59] He makes some jabs at him with that.
[00:20:00] But like whatever that like, you know, place would be
[00:20:04] where they would have kind of become friends at a young age, I'm sure.
[00:20:07] Oh, absolutely.
[00:20:09] I think that in some ways, though,
[00:20:11] Earl, while they're best friends, Earl kind of.
[00:20:16] Has to push Val into
[00:20:20] making decisions at times because Val is.
[00:20:24] You know, he's set in his ways.
[00:20:26] He's got this whole Tammy Lynn Baxter
[00:20:30] fantasy that he lives in, and Earl tries to break him out of it.
[00:20:34] It's not Bobby Joe Dexter? No.
[00:20:40] Earl tries to bring him back into the world of reality and.
[00:20:46] Val just has these expectations that
[00:20:50] Earl believes are unrealistic
[00:20:53] and trying to get him to, you know, come back to the real world.
[00:20:59] It's kind of a whole process throughout this entire movie.
[00:21:01] Yeah, Val is the dreamer and Earl is the pragmatist.
[00:21:05] You have to have like. Absolutely.
[00:21:06] Those are the best combinations of persons is is those two together.
[00:21:11] You got to they got to balance each other out.
[00:21:13] There's a lot of yid and yang in this movie with Val and Earl, but also with.
[00:21:19] Well, couple goals, Bert and Heather.
[00:21:24] It it's interesting to watch
[00:21:27] just how they those
[00:21:31] characters work together in those relationships.
[00:21:35] There's always one that has.
[00:21:37] Well, in Val and Earl's case, Earl does all the planning and Val's the implementer,
[00:21:42] and he can't play rock, paper, scissors to save his life.
[00:21:46] He's just not able to.
[00:21:47] And I know we talked about that in the first episode because
[00:21:51] it's just something that stands out.
[00:21:52] Yeah. Yeah. Paper, scissors, selves, everything.
[00:21:55] Yep. Especially if you're Earl and you always win at it.
[00:21:58] Yes. And he does.
[00:22:01] Yeah, it's kind of ridiculous how many times Earl just continues to.
[00:22:06] I don't know if Val just keeps picking the same thing or how it ends up.
[00:22:12] But Earl always wins and Val loses.
[00:22:18] Yes. Another fun group, a fun duo here.
[00:22:22] Just Val and Earl, handymen running around the little town
[00:22:25] of Perfection, Nevada, doing whatever needs to be done.
[00:22:28] Right. That's the freedom of being
[00:22:32] handyman. Just live in life and your own merit and what you want to do.
[00:22:38] You know, just you make your own rules and live by them.
[00:22:42] And I know I mentioned these things in our first watch, but
[00:22:45] when they're talking about that, that moment of Val missing the nail
[00:22:49] on the post several times before finally hitting it and then just walking away
[00:22:53] and he plays it off so smooth, it cracks me up every single time.
[00:22:57] I love it so much.
[00:23:00] I love that they know each other so well, that Earl is just
[00:23:03] so quick to answer Val's statements.
[00:23:07] Like when they were talking about Tammy Lynn Baxter and Earl just
[00:23:12] looks at Val and says, they're all the same dead weight.
[00:23:16] Like he's trying to get it through his head that, you know,
[00:23:19] your idea of this fantasy of this girl is.
[00:23:23] She she's not, you know, there's no substance there.
[00:23:28] It's all this aesthetic that you are chasing
[00:23:32] and not, you know, the substance of a person.
[00:23:36] You need a real woman, a real Rhonda LaVechtine.
[00:23:40] But Rhonda doesn't fit his ideal, which is interesting.
[00:23:45] That's because she may not be exactly what he's describing, but
[00:23:49] by the end, she still just might end up being the seismologist that rocks his world.
[00:23:53] Oh, my God. You've been waiting on that one, haven't you?
[00:23:57] Oh, yeah. I have plenty of them.
[00:24:01] Oh, my God. OK.
[00:24:03] None as good as that one, probably.
[00:24:05] But I've got more that all range from bad to terrible.
[00:24:09] So get ready.
[00:24:10] Wonderful. It's good to know.
[00:24:12] I'm trying to build up an immunity.
[00:24:15] So far, it hasn't been working very well for me.
[00:24:18] So let's try another one.
[00:24:21] As a hired hands, sorry, handyman, handyman.
[00:24:26] They have one last real shitty day at the job and they're done.
[00:24:32] They're out of town to Bixby.
[00:24:37] Even if they manage to turn down Nancy's offer of free food and free beer for a month.
[00:24:42] No, they're not dealing with that shit anymore.
[00:24:46] They're headed to Bixby.
[00:24:48] Bixby, yes.
[00:24:50] Which thanks, Zorin, this is who I am now because of you.
[00:24:53] You've done this to me.
[00:24:54] Bixby!
[00:24:55] Every time.
[00:24:56] I will never be able to say that word correctly, like just normally ever again.
[00:25:01] Well, you know what's wonderful?
[00:25:03] I can say it correctly.
[00:25:05] Bixby.
[00:25:06] Bixby!
[00:25:07] But then I have to respond.
[00:25:08] It's a call and response now.
[00:25:09] No, it's I have no sense of what's going on.
[00:25:13] I have no choice.
[00:25:15] Then I'm going to try not to say the words again.
[00:25:18] I'm not going to say it again.
[00:25:20] But I will.
[00:25:21] One thing, though, that has happened, I think, since we recorded is we lost Fred Ward.
[00:25:27] He passed away, unfortunately.
[00:25:29] And that's very sad because watching him in this movie, it's he's just wonderful.
[00:25:37] He's just wonderful.
[00:25:38] It makes me want to go and watch Tremors 2 again now that I've watched this one.
[00:25:43] We had a nice little call out shout out for him at Tremors Fest.
[00:25:49] Nice little moment for Fred Ward.
[00:25:52] It was really nice.
[00:25:53] And a lot, there's like a whole board of like past actors from the whole series
[00:25:58] who have passed on since then.
[00:26:00] And then I think it's a good thing that we're able to do this.
[00:26:04] And then some kind words about about Fred said from some people who worked with him
[00:26:10] in this first movie.
[00:26:11] So, yeah, it was really cool.
[00:26:12] Excellent.
[00:26:13] So, Val and Earl, they're on their way to Bixby.
[00:26:18] Bixby!
[00:26:19] Yes.
[00:26:20] And I cringed.
[00:26:21] You can't see it, but I completely cringed.
[00:26:24] And we are on their way there.
[00:26:30] They see something scared old Edgar up the pole to meet quite the unfortunate end of his own.
[00:26:36] Well, they don't think he's dead at first, but then they realize once they get up there
[00:26:40] because once again, Val has lost at rock, paper, scissors.
[00:26:45] Yeah.
[00:26:46] And he has to climb the tower.
[00:26:49] And a very terrified Edgar.
[00:26:52] Yeah.
[00:26:53] And they turn around and that's when they get like old Fred and his sheep and then
[00:26:59] different things going on and like something bad is happening here.
[00:27:03] So we've got to go to Bixby for help.
[00:27:06] Except we can't because the road to Bixby is closed.
[00:27:10] It's blocked and they can't get to Bixby.
[00:27:13] No, they can't.
[00:27:15] I will tell you that every time they look and see Fred's head in the sand, I laugh.
[00:27:21] And I shouldn't laugh, but it makes me laugh every time.
[00:27:25] Yeah.
[00:27:26] That's another callback that is used in a later movie.
[00:27:28] Yes, it is.
[00:27:29] Just put it under the hat gag.
[00:27:32] You know, they did try to save the workmen.
[00:27:36] They just didn't listen as usual.
[00:27:38] Why do people not listen?
[00:27:41] I don't get it.
[00:27:42] Nobody does.
[00:27:43] Never.
[00:27:44] Now they did.
[00:27:45] Listen.
[00:27:46] Now, Val and Earl did pick up a little hitchhiker on their way back to Perfection from
[00:27:51] where the people were working there and they made a quick 15 bucks from Walter off
[00:27:55] of it.
[00:27:56] So.
[00:27:57] And you know, Walter is always looking to diversify his income.
[00:28:01] Yeah.
[00:28:02] Very business minded.
[00:28:04] That change.
[00:28:05] He is.
[00:28:06] RIP, Walter.
[00:28:10] It's always sad.
[00:28:11] His death scene always makes me sad.
[00:28:13] It's like, Walter.
[00:28:16] So yeah, so the road is blocked off and then they're just having more issues.
[00:28:21] You can't drive or even radio.
[00:28:24] BIXBY!
[00:28:25] And you can't walk there.
[00:28:27] So maybe horses?
[00:28:29] Maybe take some horses through the mountain pass?
[00:28:31] Looks like a job for a couple of handymen.
[00:28:34] Cowboys.
[00:28:36] They're kind of cowboys.
[00:28:41] And then RIP, one of the horses dies.
[00:28:47] And I was sad.
[00:28:48] Sad.
[00:28:49] Very sad.
[00:28:50] Very very sad.
[00:28:51] RIP Earl's horse.
[00:28:54] But even before that, Jim and Megan Wallace were working on their home and they disappeared.
[00:29:03] And Val and Earl discover that situation when there's music playing from below the surface of the earth.
[00:29:10] Mm hmm.
[00:29:11] Yeah.
[00:29:12] Body count was rising quickly.
[00:29:14] Old Fred, like after...
[00:29:17] Edgar?
[00:29:18] Edgar.
[00:29:19] Then old Fred and his sheep.
[00:29:21] Howard and Carmine, the road workers.
[00:29:25] Yeah, and then Jim and his wife, which that scene with the car being sucked down after the generator and the lights.
[00:29:33] I'm sure we talked about a lot of that stuff.
[00:29:35] We did.
[00:29:36] I'm sure.
[00:29:37] Which is fun.
[00:29:38] I got to hear Ron Underwood talk more about filming all that, which was really cool.
[00:29:41] So yeah, the grab boys get the generator, then the gemerator.
[00:29:45] Which I'm in a Facebook group with Conrad Bachmann, who plays Jim the Doctor and he's such a wonderful guy.
[00:29:52] He's so pleasant.
[00:29:53] I love Conrad.
[00:29:54] He's great.
[00:29:58] He wasn't able to make it to the Trimmers Fest for like some other stuff going on, but like he's been on Facebook and in like some of the groups with people chatting and talking and catching up some...
[00:30:08] Maybe he'll make his way out there this year.
[00:30:09] I hope he does because he's great and people would love to hang out with him.
[00:30:12] Paik wants to hang out with him, buddy Cam.
[00:30:13] I would at some point, hopefully.
[00:30:15] It's just so difficult to have everything crammed in all at the same time.
[00:30:19] Yeah.
[00:30:20] So they're like, well, you know, Nancy says something about like when people realize like the lines are down, the road's blocked, then they'll help us.
[00:30:28] And yeah, we see that people showed up to try to handle that situation and they also met the same fate as Carmine and Howard.
[00:30:35] So these grab boys really, and I mean, really hate public utilities workers.
[00:30:40] For one reason or another, I don't know.
[00:30:41] Maybe their bills were too high for their Internet or phone and they got fed up and then they got fed up.
[00:30:51] You know, though, I can relate to that because I feel like sometimes the bills are too high and it's frustrating.
[00:31:00] So can you imagine the grab boys?
[00:31:02] They're just trying to watch, you know, a cable channel that has the reruns of Tremors 2 through 7.
[00:31:15] Right.
[00:31:16] And grab boys are super into Colombo.
[00:31:19] Yeah, I've heard that as well.
[00:31:22] And they're really irritated at the number of fees that they have to pay to be able to do that.
[00:31:26] So they're trying to take out the middleman.
[00:31:30] Unfortunately, they didn't take out the right people.
[00:31:34] They were taking out the people who are trying to fix things, not the people that are actually making bad policies.
[00:31:40] Right.
[00:31:42] I don't know where we're going.
[00:31:45] Oh my God.
[00:31:46] But yeah, horses.
[00:31:49] They get to ride off on the horses and see what's going on out there.
[00:31:54] They were cowboys.
[00:31:55] That's where Val drops the line because there's like, can we outrun them on the horses?
[00:32:00] And then he's like, well, those things can't be that fast.
[00:32:02] He goes, for all you know, they could fly.
[00:32:05] They can.
[00:32:07] Different evolutionary level.
[00:32:12] Yeah. And then they got friends looking out for them, giving them some good supplies on their way,
[00:32:17] which again, I wish I could attend Tremors Fest this year because I have the perfect movie snack.
[00:32:24] Squash soup?
[00:32:25] No.
[00:32:26] Swiss cheese and bullets.
[00:32:28] OK.
[00:32:31] That's what they packed on those horses to go out there.
[00:32:33] Here's your Swiss cheese and bullets.
[00:32:35] I mean, obviously you make the bullets out of chocolates.
[00:32:38] Oh, even better.
[00:32:39] You make like little ham bullets to go with the cheese.
[00:32:42] If you could like a little more.
[00:32:44] OK. I know I'm not going to be there, but if anyone listening to this is going to Tremors Fest, do it.
[00:32:50] If you take my idea, I want to see pictures.
[00:32:52] I need ham and cheese, Swiss cheese and bullets.
[00:32:55] Let's go. Do it.
[00:32:56] Now I think mine is better. Squash soup.
[00:33:06] Swiss cheese and bullets.
[00:33:09] Hey, they were cowboys riding off into the sunset until they weren't.
[00:33:16] At least one of the horses lived.
[00:33:19] I was really disappointed.
[00:33:20] I started to question if I was really watching Tremors or an episode of Fear the Walking Dead.
[00:33:28] Which Ron Underwood directed an episode of?
[00:33:31] Yes, he did because he really was involved with television.
[00:33:35] Maybe he directed one of those episodes.
[00:33:38] Does Ron Underwood have a thing against horses?
[00:33:42] I don't know.
[00:33:43] I hope not.
[00:33:44] I'd have to see what episode he directed.
[00:33:45] I don't remember now.
[00:33:46] That'd be funny.
[00:33:48] One of the horses is gone.
[00:33:49] The other one is gone.
[00:33:53] And then Valenor will realize the true threat.
[00:33:56] They are not the monsters that they thought because the little snakeoids, as Walter was maybe thinking of calling them,
[00:34:03] those are just the little tentacle tongue things inside a much larger and deadlier...
[00:34:07] ...tentacle tongue things inside a much larger and deadlier...
[00:34:14] And that first one, they pretty easily quickly managed to outsmart it and kill it with a concrete wall.
[00:34:19] That was so fun.
[00:34:20] Fuck you!
[00:34:22] I love it.
[00:34:23] That was the only fuck in the movie.
[00:34:25] It is.
[00:34:26] We got lots of...
[00:34:27] There's one other that gets dubbed over if you watch.
[00:34:30] What, Mother Humber?
[00:34:31] Yeah, I'm sure we talked about that on the first episode.
[00:34:33] Oh, we did.
[00:34:34] Mother Humber.
[00:34:35] If you watched Kevin Bacon's mouth during that.
[00:34:37] He didn't say that.
[00:34:39] Mother Humber is such a terrible term.
[00:34:42] Eric Gummer wouldn't say Mother Humber either, so it's like, no, this is not okay.
[00:34:47] I get what you're trying to do, but please.
[00:34:52] Yeah, with that one dead.
[00:34:53] And then Rhonda shows up and says, yes, Rhonda, we did just notice something strange.
[00:34:56] Here it is.
[00:34:57] Check it out.
[00:35:00] And I love their conversation.
[00:35:03] I get the, oh, sure, Earl.
[00:35:05] Everybody knows about them.
[00:35:06] We just didn't tell you.
[00:35:08] We stan our sassy King Valentine right here.
[00:35:12] Always.
[00:35:16] So sassy, that Val.
[00:35:17] He's very sassy, but I think I am Team Earl now.
[00:35:21] I really am.
[00:35:23] This time through, I was definitely Team Earl the whole time.
[00:35:26] It's like, how do you put up with him?
[00:35:29] He's so sassy and so ridiculous.
[00:35:35] So I would say if we were, we had to put ourselves into like the Tremors duo.
[00:35:40] You are Earl Bassett and I am Valentine McKay for sure.
[00:35:44] Absolutely.
[00:35:45] I accept that and I agree with it.
[00:35:47] I am a planner for sure.
[00:35:51] You are someone who's going to execute the blade, but I'm the one that comes up with it.
[00:35:59] And I'm the one who's getting annoyed.
[00:36:01] Yeah, it sounds right.
[00:36:03] I will.
[00:36:04] I'll go with it.
[00:36:05] It definitely checks out.
[00:36:09] Yeah, well, Rhonda thinks this is going to be the biggest zoological discovery of the century.
[00:36:15] They're trying to figure all this shit out and they start to figure out like how it works and how they get around in how it feeds, like what it feeds on.
[00:36:26] And, you know, Stumpy, which is the only one they named.
[00:36:30] And we get the squash soup.
[00:36:32] And I remember telling you that in the first time we covered this, because when the grab board kind of blew up or hit the wall, I said that and you said something about you were never going to look at soup at Panera the same.
[00:36:47] That's the one thing I remember from that episode.
[00:36:50] Yeah, I do remember that the autumn squash soup at Panera.
[00:36:53] I was like, well, that was my favorite.
[00:36:56] Still is it so good.
[00:36:57] It's so funny because when we were on Levi's podcast, we talked about their movie that came out.
[00:37:08] And Levi asked me what I thought of the squash soup type effects.
[00:37:15] Pumpkins.
[00:37:16] Yeah.
[00:37:17] It's all pumpkins.
[00:37:19] Yeah.
[00:37:20] And not Tom Hanks.
[00:37:21] Nope.
[00:37:23] I'm not talking David S over here.
[00:37:25] Real raw pumpkin.
[00:37:29] Yeah, but thanks to Rhonda's science skills.
[00:37:31] I'm just throwing Rhonda notes in here too.
[00:37:33] Why not?
[00:37:35] We do know that there's three other ones in the valley, which is going to make getting back to her truck to get to town to warn everybody a little tricky, but we'll get to that.
[00:37:47] But yeah, they do get back because I want to talk about that scene more with Rhonda for some reason.
[00:37:52] OK.
[00:37:53] She spearheads that one a little bit.
[00:37:56] So yes, because as usual, Val and Earl are talking themselves in circles and she's just arguing and arguing.
[00:38:02] Yes.
[00:38:03] We'll talk about it.
[00:38:05] They're just arguing over this plan how to get away from something and back to the truck and Rhonda just takes care of it herself.
[00:38:12] You guys know how to pole vault?
[00:38:14] She takes charge because honestly, that's something I would do too.
[00:38:18] Like I would not the whole talking in circles around what they should be doing.
[00:38:22] I would definitely be the one to say, no, we're just going to do this because I can't listen to this anymore.
[00:38:27] Right.
[00:38:28] And it leads to like maybe the coolest shot and visual of the whole movie for me.
[00:38:33] I don't know why it's just the imagery.
[00:38:35] I love that like wide shot of the three of them like in synchronously across the.
[00:38:41] I love that too.
[00:38:42] It's so cool.
[00:38:44] And the music, the music is just perfection.
[00:38:49] And it's so good.
[00:38:50] I see what you did there.
[00:38:53] It's great.
[00:38:54] And then I'm just wrapping up my Rhonda notes and then we know how to do them later.
[00:38:59] Because then they do get back into the truck and God bless Rhonda's ability to steer while using her hands on the pedals.
[00:39:04] I know I talked about that the first time too.
[00:39:06] But but what a skill she has to steer.
[00:39:11] With her hands.
[00:39:14] Yeah, which they also like while watching that where you're like she's in there upside down and like apparently steering, like pressing the pedals with her hands, but somehow also steering.
[00:39:23] Kevin Bacon gets out of his line of blocking just for a second long enough for a quick second.
[00:39:30] And you can totally see the actual real driver of the truck behind him through the window.
[00:39:33] Earl did have a really funny quote while they were getting ready to pole vault where he said that Tamulin Baxter, did she do much pole vaulting?
[00:39:42] And that always cracks me up because he's really trying to push Val in this direction.
[00:39:47] Rhonda probably because he knows she would be very good for him.
[00:39:50] Yeah.
[00:39:51] And he needs to stop chasing his pipe dream up.
[00:39:55] And he's like, oh, I'm going to go with the old man.
[00:39:58] I don't know if Earl's ever met her, but obviously he has a like vendetta against her.
[00:40:03] He does not like this person.
[00:40:05] I know.
[00:40:06] And I don't know why it's never elaborated on.
[00:40:09] I'm sorry if anyone thinks they can watch the sequels now and it's going to ever be mentioned.
[00:40:14] It isn't.
[00:40:15] So don't bother worrying about it.
[00:40:18] I don't know.
[00:40:19] I don't know.
[00:40:20] I don't know.
[00:40:21] I don't know.
[00:40:22] I don't know.
[00:40:23] I don't know.
[00:40:24] I don't know.
[00:40:25] So don't bother worrying about it.
[00:40:29] He definitely is just pushing Val in this direction, which is good for him.
[00:40:34] Earl's definitely a big old Tammy hater for whatever reason.
[00:40:37] They do get back into town and then some other things happen.
[00:40:41] I get like because I've gotten those notes like more under like Graboids and stuff.
[00:40:45] So I kind of they're not specifically Val and Earl.
[00:40:48] So I'm like jumping around, which is fine.
[00:40:51] But well Melvin is such a jerk to Earl.
[00:40:54] Earl wants to throttle Melvin most of the time that we see them together.
[00:41:01] Yeah, absolutely.
[00:41:02] And again, Melvin is being a brat with a basketball.
[00:41:06] Yeah.
[00:41:07] And then yeah.
[00:41:09] Yeah, they're back in town.
[00:41:10] They're warning the people there what's going on.
[00:41:12] And then that happens.
[00:41:15] The Graboids arrive in perfection proper right there in town.
[00:41:19] Things go haywire.
[00:41:20] I feel like I just I got to because there's no purpose in like circling back to it.
[00:41:26] Yeah, the attack on perfection.
[00:41:28] The first casualty.
[00:41:30] Melvin's basketball.
[00:41:33] Yeah, you're right.
[00:41:34] Melvin's basketball.
[00:41:36] Yes.
[00:41:37] But then of course the one that's a lot harder to take after that is of course Walter Chang.
[00:41:41] Mandy's pogo stick.
[00:41:42] Oh, oh, oh man.
[00:41:49] You went there.
[00:41:51] Oh my god.
[00:41:52] The bin.
[00:41:53] The first human casualty.
[00:41:56] Yes, of all the snacks available in that store, the Graboid chose fresh juicy Walter
[00:42:00] Melon.
[00:42:01] Yep.
[00:42:04] I'm sorry.
[00:42:05] I know that one was terrible.
[00:42:06] It was so terrible that I thought it and I was like no, that's way too stupid.
[00:42:10] That's awful.
[00:42:11] I can never include it.
[00:42:12] And that's why I have to include it because I have to show that that the art of the
[00:42:16] pun is a difficult art and I suffer from my art and I must put that on the page here for
[00:42:21] people to see.
[00:42:22] Are you the one that suffers for your art or is it me that suffers?
[00:42:26] I think it's me.
[00:42:27] It's the art of the pun and people must suffer for their art and yeah, in this
[00:42:31] case it's probably you but.
[00:42:32] It is me.
[00:42:33] It's a grand sacrifice that you're happy to make.
[00:42:36] At least I'm happy to make.
[00:42:39] You know what I loved?
[00:42:41] The Graboid was underground running through the boards that are like the outside, the
[00:42:48] porch blanks.
[00:42:49] Mm hmm.
[00:42:50] Oh my God.
[00:42:51] It's like Jaws vibes.
[00:42:52] Really?
[00:42:53] Yeah.
[00:42:54] And I know we talked about it.
[00:42:55] I feel like we are saying I know we talked about this.
[00:42:59] It's a drinking game in this episode.
[00:43:01] Right.
[00:43:02] But I haven't gone back and listened so I don't know for sure but I'm pretty
[00:43:05] sure like a lot of big points like we had to have talked about that.
[00:43:08] Yeah.
[00:43:09] Yeah.
[00:43:10] So initially then after all of that they get up on the roof once they realize
[00:43:17] they come through the floors and their initial plan was to get in touch with
[00:43:22] Burt and Heather, have them take the truck, go get help and then come back
[00:43:27] with that but they might not be able to wait that out because the Graboids
[00:43:31] are adapting and learning and getting smarter very quickly so they can't stay
[00:43:36] safe on the roofs forever especially not the roof of a trailer or on a tire.
[00:43:41] What I'm saying is I would be Nestor.
[00:43:43] Why on earth would Nestor ever think that getting in a tire was going to save
[00:43:49] his life?
[00:43:50] He didn't seem like the smartest though.
[00:43:53] No, he definitely was not.
[00:43:55] I'm like why the fuck would you do that?
[00:43:57] Why did you think that being in a tire was a good idea?
[00:44:00] Are you trying to protect yourself from a thunder and lightning storm?
[00:44:04] Because that's about the only thing that that rubber tire would help you with.
[00:44:09] Right.
[00:44:10] But in that regard would it?
[00:44:13] I don't think it still would help even in that.
[00:44:15] I don't know, you're supposed to be like rubber is supposed to help you.
[00:44:20] Yeah but I don't know, you're still kind of like out in the open.
[00:44:26] Well it's supposed to ground you.
[00:44:28] Yeah so you might be okay.
[00:44:29] It might help.
[00:44:30] Yeah.
[00:44:31] Graboids, it doesn't work for Graboids.
[00:44:32] No, absolutely not.
[00:44:33] No.
[00:44:34] So yeah, so that was initially the plan and then that plan has to get
[00:44:39] changed because of Graboids quickly adapting so they're like,
[00:44:41] no okay Bert and Heather how about us going to town?
[00:44:43] You come get us.
[00:44:44] And they're like okay that plan is also not going to happen.
[00:44:47] My truck is now gone.
[00:44:48] Bert's truck wiped out.
[00:44:51] But there is the cat and Earl's trailer.
[00:44:55] Just a quick sprint across the field from them.
[00:45:02] A very quick sprint.
[00:45:04] Yeah.
[00:45:05] And during this...
[00:45:06] Maybe.
[00:45:07] So during this time too, Rhonda falls out the window and Val kind of freaks out a little bit.
[00:45:15] You could tell he's concerned.
[00:45:17] And that's when I started noticing, yep it's kind of working.
[00:45:20] This pull, pull, it's going to work.
[00:45:23] Earl keeps pushing.
[00:45:25] It's going to work.
[00:45:26] But yeah.
[00:45:28] Somebody's got to make it to that...
[00:45:31] To the cat.
[00:45:32] In the trailer and so they need some distraction.
[00:45:35] Melvin doesn't want to make a quick buck.
[00:45:38] And the lawnmower might have helped them more if it didn't panic and flip out on its way.
[00:45:45] But that's fine.
[00:45:48] It was enough to at least get Val mostly there and then Rhonda decides to hit him with the waterworks
[00:45:55] to let Val finish his trip to the machine.
[00:45:57] And not in the usual way that you would usually use that saying, but a creative twist on it.
[00:46:04] Yeah.
[00:46:05] And then I love how Val ends up running.
[00:46:07] It's that iconic rock, paper, scissors and then Val of course loses.
[00:46:11] And so he goes for the...
[00:46:13] Sucker punch.
[00:46:14] The handshake sucker punch, take the dive anyway.
[00:46:17] It's just an iconic moment.
[00:46:19] You're like yeah, of course Val's going to do that.
[00:46:20] Well because Val is used to being the implementer and I'm just not sure how Earl would be if he was trying to do that.
[00:46:27] I think it needs to go to the person that is more...
[00:46:33] You know, doesn't want to wait around.
[00:46:36] Just wants to jump in and take care of it.
[00:46:39] And I really think since Earl is the mastermind behind all of their plans, it's just better if he does it.
[00:46:47] Yeah, worked out pretty good.
[00:46:49] It has to be Val.
[00:46:51] He makes it there, picks everybody back up.
[00:46:53] And so now we've completely flipped the secondary plan.
[00:46:57] Now the rest of the town is picking up Bert and Heather.
[00:47:02] And Bert and Heather, there's some stuff to talk about when we get to them.
[00:47:06] Oh yeah.
[00:47:07] So many things.
[00:47:08] But yeah, there's just a couple other little notes before we kind of get to like the end of the story with Val and Earl.
[00:47:14] The Pardon My French runner with Earl is so good.
[00:47:18] It's one of my favorite things about this movie.
[00:47:20] They're just constantly coming back up and then having Rhonda bring it full circle and have her hit the Pardon My French line last.
[00:47:26] So good.
[00:47:27] Yeah.
[00:47:28] And then, yeah, after they're on the cat and they're making their way up through the mountain pass before they get there,
[00:47:37] the Graboids have decided to use their own little twist on trench warfare.
[00:47:42] They're in the trench?
[00:47:44] You didn't tell me this was 21 Pilots.
[00:47:48] Welcome to trench.
[00:47:50] Yep, the cat goes right on in.
[00:47:55] They're all stressed out.
[00:47:57] But they do make it to the rocks.
[00:48:02] They get there.
[00:48:03] They manage to make a bolt for it using some of the dynamite household ingredients in the right.
[00:48:10] Well, because Bert knows what he's doing.
[00:48:12] Yeah, absolutely.
[00:48:13] He has all the information he needs to be able to formulate his weapons plan.
[00:48:18] Right.
[00:48:19] And so, yeah, they get there.
[00:48:22] I love getting to the rocks and Bert handing Melvin the unloaded gun.
[00:48:26] That was priceless.
[00:48:28] Some MVP shit right there.
[00:48:30] So good.
[00:48:31] Because he had just said to him not long before, I wouldn't give you a gun if it was World War III.
[00:48:37] Yeah.
[00:48:38] So I like that he's like, they're going to get you guys.
[00:48:40] There you go.
[00:48:41] And he's so excited that he starts trying to shoot at the Graboids.
[00:48:44] Yeah.
[00:48:45] Bert, you asshole.
[00:48:47] Got you moving, didn't it?
[00:48:49] Yep.
[00:48:50] I love that, which is maybe that scene is why Bert won side character of season one.
[00:48:56] Retrospectively, retroactively, we went back and did that.
[00:49:01] Maybe that's why he did.
[00:49:03] Also, maybe start thinking about that because that's coming up next week.
[00:49:08] And I was wondering about it.
[00:49:10] I don't think any of these characters can qualify this season since we've already done this.
[00:49:14] You know, I am so thrilled that you say that.
[00:49:17] Maybe. I don't know.
[00:49:18] Because I was afraid I was going to just have to lower the boom on it and tell you that they can't.
[00:49:24] So I'm glad that you're already on the same page.
[00:49:27] This movie cannot be part of that discussion.
[00:49:33] I say maybe the episode can be, but that may be the only qualifier.
[00:49:36] Yes, but that would be the only qualifier.
[00:49:38] Maybe.
[00:49:39] But characters and movie itself and even Graboids for Threat, they've had their run in season one.
[00:49:46] Exactly.
[00:49:47] Yeah, we have to let that go.
[00:49:49] We have plenty of other fantastic movies we've covered this season that we can put in the mix.
[00:49:56] We can't make them compete with a previous winner.
[00:49:58] No, that doesn't seem fair.
[00:50:00] It's not fair.
[00:50:02] So we're not going to do that.
[00:50:04] So this is not eligible for any of our end of season awards, which I can't believe that we're already at that.
[00:50:14] Next week.
[00:50:15] Like we're going to be recording that next week and I am not sure I'm ready.
[00:50:20] I think it was one or two of them ago that we actually were in person to record it.
[00:50:27] That was the last one.
[00:50:30] Yeah, so much fun.
[00:50:32] Yeah, but so they get to the rocks and then Burt's dark thoughts turn into an actual incredible idea for Earl going fishing like.
[00:50:42] Yep.
[00:50:44] Which works out pretty good.
[00:50:46] Boom, pumpkin goo for everyone.
[00:50:48] You get pumpkin goo.
[00:50:50] You get pumpkin goo.
[00:50:51] You get pumpkin goo.
[00:50:52] And then the second bomb, not so successful.
[00:50:55] No, because these raboids are very smart and instead it ends up in the bag of bombs.
[00:51:02] Yeah, bag of bomb.
[00:51:06] That's a fun word to say.
[00:51:08] It's like vagabond.
[00:51:09] But bag of bombs.
[00:51:12] You're very excited.
[00:51:13] Yeah.
[00:51:14] That's somebody who's like kind of shady on the outside and is also really explosive.
[00:51:18] They're bag of bombs.
[00:51:19] Yep.
[00:51:20] It's a great band name maybe.
[00:51:22] Yeah, I like that.
[00:51:24] So after that explosion, they still are able to...
[00:51:31] They have the one left because there was four.
[00:51:35] The first one, there's three left.
[00:51:36] Burt and Heather took care of one.
[00:51:37] We'll talk about that.
[00:51:39] Then they have the one exploded going fishing like.
[00:51:42] And they have this one left.
[00:51:46] Val, Earl, and Rhonda out in the open.
[00:51:49] And Val thinks, what did I do at the beginning of this movie?
[00:51:52] Oh yeah.
[00:51:53] Stampede.
[00:51:54] He can still outsmart this last one.
[00:51:58] They're getting smarter, but they're still not smarter than Val most of the time maybe.
[00:52:03] I don't know.
[00:52:04] I know.
[00:52:05] But Val doesn't usually come up with a plan.
[00:52:08] So this was his opportunity to shine in that department.
[00:52:11] Yeah.
[00:52:12] And it works out great.
[00:52:13] It was legitimately a classic buffalo-buffalo maneuver.
[00:52:17] That's what he did.
[00:52:19] Again, I'm sure I talked about this in the first one.
[00:52:22] I know I did is this idea of the buffalo jump.
[00:52:25] I even called it because I think it was the Blackfoot people mainly, but the indigenous tribe there, the Blackfoot.
[00:52:33] That's historically, I think they would run bison over cliffs by starting like herding stampedes of bison.
[00:52:42] They would literally buffalo the buffalo right over the edge.
[00:52:45] It's a buffalo-buffalo maneuver.
[00:52:47] That's what they're doing.
[00:52:48] Yes.
[00:52:49] Yes.
[00:52:51] Yes, it is.
[00:52:52] And I will not fall victim to your.
[00:52:57] That's just for us.
[00:53:02] But also the deeper level is just for us.
[00:53:05] But then also on surface there are people who maybe know the buffalo-buffalo-buffalo-buffalo-buffalo-buffalo.
[00:53:10] That's true.
[00:53:11] And if you know what that is, then it's also just a fun thing.
[00:53:13] Yeah.
[00:53:14] But if you really know what buffalo-buffalo is, then you're really in the know.
[00:53:20] You're one of four people.
[00:53:21] Yep.
[00:53:22] But anyway, and then after that, everything's good.
[00:53:25] Happy ending people are happy and alive.
[00:53:29] And I'm sure we've talked about the kiss scene being added later after test audiences demanded it.
[00:53:35] Basically, we've talked about that.
[00:53:38] I didn't need it.
[00:53:40] But OK.
[00:53:43] There is always this push to have these little sappy, happy endings that have to have like kisses and.
[00:53:54] With and I think when we were on Levi's, I mentioned this.
[00:53:57] I'm OK with it in this case.
[00:53:59] This movie, it's fine.
[00:54:00] I don't mind in this movie.
[00:54:02] Doesn't have to be an all.
[00:54:04] But with this one, it doesn't bother me.
[00:54:05] But yeah, I think when we covered this in episode one, we talked about the behind the scenes that the original ending didn't have that.
[00:54:12] And then the test audiences were like, but they have to.
[00:54:14] And so they went back and refilmed it.
[00:54:16] And it actually looks a little different.
[00:54:18] You can tell that they went back to the location, reshot that scene.
[00:54:22] And I was like, OK, I'm OK with it in this movie.
[00:54:24] And then especially again talking, talking back to Trimmers Fest, hearing Ron Underwood in person explain that and talk about it.
[00:54:32] I was like, OK, that's cool.
[00:54:33] That's OK.
[00:54:34] You can do anything, Ron.
[00:54:35] You're fine.
[00:54:40] Oh, man.
[00:54:44] Val and Earl.
[00:54:45] It's too bad we didn't get more films with the two of them.
[00:54:51] Yeah.
[00:54:52] Now, the fun fact that we talked about the first time is the kiss scene the audiences were demanding at the end wasn't actually Val and Rhonda.
[00:55:03] OK.
[00:55:05] That's really incredible for that time.
[00:55:07] It was a compromise.
[00:55:08] Yeah.
[00:55:12] It was it was it was Bert and and one of the Graboids.
[00:55:16] No, that's what they really wanted.
[00:55:20] OK, no, no.
[00:55:23] I really wanted more Val and Earl and Bert and Heather.
[00:55:28] Like, I really feel like I needed more of that.
[00:55:32] And we didn't get it, unfortunately.
[00:55:36] It was Heather and the ghost of Walter J.
[00:55:40] You're still you are still on that.
[00:55:43] I have moved on and you are continuing on that.
[00:55:46] I can't help it.
[00:55:49] These after Melvin and the ghost of his basketball.
[00:55:54] I have to ask Peg, are these the remnants of your escapades last night?
[00:55:59] No, I'm fine.
[00:56:01] Are you sure?
[00:56:03] Uh huh.
[00:56:04] This is just me normally every day.
[00:56:10] You should know by now, I don't need any help to be like this.
[00:56:12] I know.
[00:56:13] This is my default setting.
[00:56:20] I love that Val and Earl named that one Graboid Stumpy and he kind of became the main villain of the whole movie.
[00:56:30] Oh, look, it's our old friend Stumpy because it's the one that the other half of that tentacle was stuck onto the bottom of their car.
[00:56:41] So you could make some sort of an argument that an alternate title for this could have been run in Stumpy.
[00:56:49] Potentially, yes, but I don't think it would have been as catchy.
[00:56:53] No, probably not.
[00:56:55] All right.
[00:56:57] So yeah, Val and Earl, I think we are done.
[00:56:59] We are good.
[00:57:00] We've surpassed it and we've taken a turn down a different road that we need to U-turn it and get back on track.
[00:57:08] Which Rhonda, I'm good.
[00:57:11] I've covered pretty much everything there.
[00:57:14] Graboids, I think.
[00:57:16] Yep, I've covered all of those notes.
[00:57:18] So really what I've got left is maybe some other little tiny notes about some other characters and then the big one, Burton Heller.
[00:57:24] You gotta talk about the Gummers.
[00:57:25] Oh man, I wanted more.
[00:57:29] The two of them, Michael Gross and Reba McIntyre were so amazing.
[00:57:34] And Burt going on from this movie became such an icon and leader of this franchise.
[00:57:44] And I don't know that you get that impression that that's the way it's going to be in this movie.
[00:57:53] I mean, because when they filmed it, when they did it, I'm sure they weren't thinking we're going to have seven sequels.
[00:57:58] And this is how it's going to be.
[00:57:59] And Burt's going to be in all of them.
[00:58:01] I mean, we're lucky that they didn't kill him off in the first one.
[00:58:04] Right.
[00:58:06] Because then where would we be?
[00:58:09] A lot of sequels with people we don't know.
[00:58:12] Yeah, if those even honestly, if this sequel ever would have even happened without him.
[00:58:16] Yeah, I don't think so.
[00:58:17] Like, yeah, he's crucial and integral to everything, Tremors.
[00:58:22] He really is.
[00:58:24] So, yeah, I mean, Burt and Heather Gummer, like what can be said that hasn't already been either on this podcast back in episode one or all the conversations we've had with Levi or even just in random other conversations.
[00:58:38] I don't need to rehash too many things.
[00:58:41] But again, those newer updates since the first time, like I said, I met Michael Gross and he's as incredible as you could possibly imagine.
[00:58:48] It's still a goal of mine to try to get him on this podcast.
[00:58:51] And I think honestly, it's very doable if I really went for it.
[00:58:54] I think you should because you know there's an episode coming up next season that's going to be a milestone episode for us.
[00:59:04] Yeah.
[00:59:05] So I might because I did I mentioned it to him in Santa Fe last year.
[00:59:10] I was like, hey, got this podcast.
[00:59:12] Huge fan.
[00:59:13] And he was legitimately like not dismisses of it.
[00:59:17] He was like, yeah, here's how to get in touch with me if you really need to.
[00:59:20] And I just haven't cashed in on it.
[00:59:22] But we should do it.
[00:59:23] We should do it.
[00:59:24] Do it because we really need to.
[00:59:28] Yeah, this could be such an amazing episode to celebrate.
[00:59:34] Yeah.
[00:59:35] So still going to try to do that.
[00:59:36] I think I can.
[00:59:37] And then of course, with Reba, she opened a restaurant recently in Oklahoma that I will definitely plan on making some kind of pilgrimage to at some point.
[00:59:46] Even though I mean, there's no guarantee she's there.
[00:59:48] I got to find like an event that she's there for.
[00:59:50] I know somebody who did go, I think, to events that she was at.
[00:59:54] So I'll have to just keep tabs on that and see if there's like event that she's at her place.
[00:59:59] Then that's the time to make the little road trip up there.
[01:00:01] You have to do it because I feel like.
[01:00:04] Because she's still like a top of the list.
[01:00:07] Huge like hope for me to meet and talk to for a lot of personal reasons that you got to go listen to other podcast episodes to hear.
[01:00:15] But I've talked about it before.
[01:00:16] You covered some of it in our very first episode.
[01:00:19] It's so interesting because in our first episode, you almost had a few tears when you were talking about it.
[01:00:30] Possibly.
[01:00:31] I believe it.
[01:00:32] So, yeah, so that's that's a big up, which speaking of that, definitely have something to talk to you about.
[01:00:39] Off the air, because I'm not saying anything here.
[01:00:40] But.
[01:00:45] But just a teaser for you.
[01:00:49] Let's see. What else can we talk about?
[01:00:50] But we can.
[01:00:52] They were the stars of when we first did this.
[01:00:55] Of course, talked about broke into the wrong goddamn rec room, didn't you?
[01:00:58] You bastard.
[01:00:59] Yes.
[01:01:00] Love it.
[01:01:01] Mother of her.
[01:01:02] Yeah, absolutely.
[01:01:04] It did.
[01:01:05] Only the gummer compound would have such a wide array of firearms in their rec room.
[01:01:09] And honestly, that scene I love because it's kind of hilarious watching Bert and Heather just working their way through all of the different guns where they're like rifles, rifles, pistols, pistols, pistols.
[01:01:19] All right.
[01:01:20] Now we have the machine guns.
[01:01:21] Now we have these.
[01:01:22] Now we've got a flare gun.
[01:01:23] Here comes the elephant got like just just gets bigger and crazy.
[01:01:27] It took the elephant gun to really do something because the other guns might have weakened it.
[01:01:33] But the elephant gun is what I think really did the damage.
[01:01:37] And I mean, Uzi for you.
[01:01:41] Yeah.
[01:01:43] Great license plate for them.
[01:01:45] They really were yin and yang.
[01:01:47] And when I was watching this movie this time, I really paid attention to how Heather calms him down when he starts to get a little hyper.
[01:02:00] And it does remind me of Val and Earl and how Earl is like, yeah, the voice of reason.
[01:02:05] Val gets super hyper.
[01:02:07] One of my favorite little lines and I'm trying to remember because I've listened to podcasts about this and stuff.
[01:02:14] Part of me wants to say that it was like improvised by Reba, but I'm not 100 percent sure.
[01:02:18] Don't quote me on that.
[01:02:20] But it is when Val and Bert go at each other and he's like, you know, they don't kill you.
[01:02:26] I will, you know, kind of thing.
[01:02:28] What did you say?
[01:02:29] And there's an Earl takes Val and Heather takes Bert and calming him down.
[01:02:34] And this line that Reba has it so understated and so just like throw away.
[01:02:39] But I love it every time.
[01:02:41] It's just she goes, I know, I know, thinks he knows everything.
[01:02:44] And it's just like just that delivery.
[01:02:47] My queen Reba.
[01:02:49] Yes.
[01:02:50] So good.
[01:02:51] It's so ridiculous because I feel like Earl could have said the same thing to Val because Bert is such a polarizing character like that thinks he knows everything.
[01:03:03] And Val also, I think, has a very high opinion of himself, even though I think Earl's been trying to bring him back to Earth because it's actually Earl who's the brains of everything.
[01:03:15] Val is more, you know, the reactor to everything that's happening around them.
[01:03:20] Yeah.
[01:03:21] And so I feel like the sensible ones pulled them back to their appropriate corners.
[01:03:26] Yeah.
[01:03:27] Before round two.
[01:03:28] I didn't write down the full quote I could have, but just the essence of it, though, is after they get rescued, they're in this trailer and Bert is just distraught because again, he's like all this planning.
[01:03:41] It's like all these stashes years of food and filtered water and ammunition and the bomb shelter and all this stuff I've done.
[01:03:49] He's like underground monsters.
[01:03:51] It's like the one thing he wasn't prepared for.
[01:03:54] And it's just like, it's okay.
[01:03:56] You can't plan for everything, Bert.
[01:03:58] Damn near dry.
[01:03:59] Like you almost did, but there's always going to be something new.
[01:04:03] I mean, and at least this time, though, he wasn't denied critical need-to-know information.
[01:04:10] It was all right in front of him because they really didn't know that much.
[01:04:15] So they were figuring it out as they went along.
[01:04:18] Yeah.
[01:04:19] And he didn't run out of ammo at any point because at least up to this point, that's never happened to him before.
[01:04:23] So he's good.
[01:04:24] Right.
[01:04:25] I'm interested how he would react to that, Peg.
[01:04:29] Maybe I should go watch a few other Tremors movies to see that come to fruition.
[01:04:37] And then yeah, last note I really have on them is again just the lines.
[01:04:42] I love the line and I know I quoted this one in the first episode.
[01:04:45] I know I did when we did it is the what kind of fuse is that with Earl?
[01:04:49] Canon fuse.
[01:04:50] What the hell you use it for?
[01:04:51] My cannon.
[01:04:52] Yes, I love that too.
[01:04:56] People don't realize that that Bert has a cannon.
[01:05:00] Of course he has a cannon.
[01:05:02] I mean, when he and Heather were on top of the compound, they were up there like organizing all of their weapons to take with them.
[01:05:09] I mean, they are prepared for everything.
[01:05:12] They wanted to live in perfection, population 14 or much less now.
[01:05:18] I think it's now population seven or eight.
[01:05:23] They wanted to live off the grid away from everything.
[01:05:28] And they're dealing with this threat that's probably more annoying than the government as far as Bert is concerned.
[01:05:38] Well, I don't know. Can anything be that annoying to Bert?
[01:05:41] I don't know.
[01:05:42] I don't know.
[01:05:43] I'm not sure.
[01:05:44] Yeah, the last point that I really have the last note, I guess, because that's Bert and Heather and we've talked about the other characters other than.
[01:05:55] Yeah, I just had a couple of other little notes.
[01:05:57] Nestor, I even mentioned where he's like, I'll get a pickaxe.
[01:06:00] And we see the pickaxe a little bit later in this movie.
[01:06:02] And that does nothing.
[01:06:04] But then he's just like, I'm just going to get it with a chainsaw.
[01:06:06] And I was like, that's not a bad idea.
[01:06:08] Because as we know, Bert makes that work in a sequel, I think the third one, pretty sure.
[01:06:14] And then Walter's business mind.
[01:06:17] You know, we can't capitalize on this unless we name them.
[01:06:20] He's very stuck on that for a while.
[01:06:23] But yeah, then the last I was going to talk about, yeah, Melvin, which you have the character of Melvin.
[01:06:28] Such a little brat, such a little shit, definitely.
[01:06:31] But as I mentioned, there's always now a tiny little soft spot in my heart for Melvin.
[01:06:36] Just after like hanging with Robert a little bit over that weekend.
[01:06:39] And I'm like, he but he's such a good guy.
[01:06:42] Which ties in because the story of hearing him tell the story and talking to him about.
[01:06:47] Of course, when Bert and Heather kill the one and over the radio they relay that information.
[01:06:51] Oh my god.
[01:06:52] They killed one.
[01:06:53] And Melvin's reaction, way to go, dude.
[01:06:57] It cracks me up.
[01:06:58] Like it's already a funny line, but now it cracks me up even more hearing the story about that from Rob himself.
[01:07:05] Because I don't know if I've told you this one or not.
[01:07:07] I might have.
[01:07:08] We might have even covered it in the Trimmer's Fest episode of Levi.
[01:07:12] But he was telling the story about like he was just like, that's the one take that he hoped they wouldn't use because it was just so like goofy.
[01:07:20] And he was like, my friends at school and people are going to watch this movie and make fun of me for the way that that was delivered.
[01:07:26] And then he's like, that's the one take he didn't want to use.
[01:07:28] And of course it was.
[01:07:30] And he was so embarrassed by it at first.
[01:07:33] But then over the years, he has like fully embraced it to where he was like signing autographs at Trimmer's Fest with way to go, dude.
[01:07:40] Robert Jane.
[01:07:41] Like it's great.
[01:07:46] As I said, he has been in a bunch of movies where he played a little brat.
[01:07:51] So to me, he'll always be a brat.
[01:07:55] You know, said maybe you could have hung out with him.
[01:08:00] Didn't work out this year, but if we keep going, we'll do it.
[01:08:02] We'll do it again.
[01:08:04] Robert, maybe I'll catch up with you.
[01:08:06] I'll meet you again someday down the road because I'm assuming you're listening to this.
[01:08:10] Obviously, who wouldn't?
[01:08:13] Oh, man.
[01:08:14] But yeah, I think once again, that's all the notes I have on Trimmer's.
[01:08:20] Wow.
[01:08:21] Do you remember how we ended our episodes back when we covered?
[01:08:27] Oh, God, we were still doing like rankings.
[01:08:30] I don't think we ever actually established whether it was rating or ranking.
[01:08:35] I think we just changed it like whatever word we decided to use.
[01:08:38] But and it started really like we're like, yeah, that makes sense.
[01:08:42] And then we got like 10 movies in.
[01:08:43] We're like, no, you can't compare these things.
[01:08:45] This is a terrible idea.
[01:08:48] At the end of season one, we dropped that.
[01:08:51] We changed things up quite a bit.
[01:08:54] And then I think after season two, we moved to the more character driven discussions, which I think our listeners know now.
[01:09:05] They know how we do it, how we break it down.
[01:09:09] But yeah, I was maybe a little nostalgic.
[01:09:14] So I looked back at a few things with this episode and it just, you know, where we started to where we are now, it's been quite a journey.
[01:09:25] I think I feel like it has for me especially in my podcasting.
[01:09:31] And I'm glad that we got to cover this movie in our way, in the run for your lives way.
[01:09:38] Oops, I didn't mean the new way, the new way that we do things now.
[01:09:43] Yeah. Yes. Well, I'm sure we have some listeners who would love to let us know what they think of this movie.
[01:09:53] So let's find out now.
[01:09:55] See, I usually usually the feedback phone seems to like start like almost as if on cue and I don't know.
[01:10:03] So no, no, it's still not working.
[01:10:06] I don't know what's going on there.
[01:10:08] Wow. Well, thank you.
[01:10:11] You got to work on your timing.
[01:10:13] OK, well, let me go check it out.
[01:10:15] All right. We do have one piece of feedback this week, but that's how big and it's a good one.
[01:10:22] It's a big one.
[01:10:27] Grabboid size piece of feedback, which is great.
[01:10:30] Perfect. Of course, it comes from none other than Catherine, which is great.
[01:10:36] As you mentioned, Daphne, I think before we start recording that I don't think Catherine was listening back in episode one when we first did this movie.
[01:10:43] So it's nice to we after all this time, we do get some Catherine thoughts on tremors.
[01:10:48] So that's good. Yeah, definitely.
[01:10:52] So she says, we're so excited for the podcast this week.
[01:10:55] I plan on doing a double feature listening to the new coverage, then listening to the very first episode.
[01:11:00] Good luck with that. I haven't listened back to it.
[01:11:04] It's probably going to be much different. Levi keeps telling us that we need to listen to it and both of us continue to refuse.
[01:11:12] So let us know what you think about that one too.
[01:11:16] Anyway, she goes on to say, tremors has always been a fun watch, but it's even better after watching the rest of the movie series.
[01:11:21] I appreciate the practical effects, the camera views that race along with the grabboids and especially the characters.
[01:11:27] Bert and Heather Gummer were my favorite minor characters, and I wish Reba could have continued with the series.
[01:11:32] Me too, Catherine. Me too. Every day.
[01:11:35] Goes on to say we didn't see a lot of Walter Chang, yet it was still hard to lose him.
[01:11:39] I even felt bad for Melvin, who seemed to be the only teen in town just trying to get any attention he could.
[01:11:44] I could go on and on, but I'll end with some of my favorite quotes.
[01:11:47] Roger that, Bert, and congratulations. Be advised, however, that there are two more. Repeat two more, Mother Humpers.
[01:11:53] Food for five years, thousand gallons of gas, air filtration, water filtration, Geiger counter, bomb shelter.
[01:12:01] Underground goddamn monsters.
[01:12:04] I wouldn't give you a gun if it was World War III.
[01:12:08] What kind of fuse is that? Cannon fuse.
[01:12:11] What the hell you use it for? My cannon.
[01:12:14] Can you fly, you sucker? Can you fly?
[01:12:18] I love your inflection on those quotes because it just took me right back to the movie.
[01:12:26] Well, if you'd like to submit your feedback, like Catherine, you can find us on Facebook and Instagram at Run For Your Lives Podcast.
[01:12:34] Email us at runforyourlivespodcast.gmail.com.

[01:12:54] That's the best way to share the love and get us out there even more.
[01:12:59] We really appreciate it.
[01:13:01] Absolutely. Always appreciate it a lot.
[01:13:04] Of course, speaking of the sharing the love, we got to give some shout outs to things going on in this podcastica universe around us right here.
[01:13:12] Lots of great stuff on the network for you to always check out.
[01:13:15] First, one I haven't mentioned in a while and there's still nothing right now, but I've got some news for you.
[01:13:23] My other podcast, Strange Indeed. How long has it been since people have heard that come out of my mouth?
[01:13:28] Four months at least.
[01:13:30] Yeah, been a while. But yes, Strange Indeed is coming back.
[01:13:35] We've been on a little hiatus. It's just kind of one of those things where not a lot of shows, a lot of it due to the writer's strike and
[01:13:42] actor's strike that followed up with that and a lot of just different things going on with those.
[01:13:47] And then just even when stuff kind of starts trickling back in, we haven't found any newer shows that we were like super interested in yet.
[01:13:53] A Strange Indeed show that we very much love is coming back for its third and final season.
[01:13:59] So starting next month, early next month, starting in June, I think we're recording June 11th.
[01:14:04] So probably that night or June 12th be looking for the first episode of season three of Sweet Tooth.
[01:14:12] Coming on Strange Indeed. So me and Rima are jumping back into the world of Sweet Tooth on Netflix.
[01:14:18] And I am so excited to be getting back with Rima and talking to her again.
[01:14:22] I've missed podcasting with her and chatting with her and talking about these just great shows, especially Sweet Tooth. Love it.
[01:14:28] So I'm super stoked to get back into it.
[01:14:30] Yeah, it's been quite a while since I've had any Strange Indeed in my ears.
[01:14:34] So it'll be nice to have that out there again.
[01:14:38] Yes. So definitely give us a listen over on Strange Indeed for me and Rima covering that.
[01:14:44] And if you haven't watched Sweet Tooth, the first two seasons available on Netflix, binge watch them.
[01:14:49] Get through them. Watch them. It's a great show. Love it so much.
[01:14:52] And then you can follow us along on our journey in season three.
[01:14:55] But then other great stuff going on on Podcastica, of course, on House Podcastica, a joint effort with Adrenaline Cinema podcast.
[01:15:04] We have Mark with Laura and Danny covering Interview with the Vampire as AMC series.
[01:15:11] I still haven't watched it. And I don't know why, because it freaking stars Jacob Anderson.
[01:15:14] I know my favorite, favorite human beings on the planet.
[01:15:17] And I just haven't watched it yet. And I need to.
[01:15:20] There's too much TV. It's just very difficult.
[01:15:24] And I have to watch my Jacob Anderson when I talk about him in an acting perspective, to me he's Raleigh Richie and is always Raleigh Richie.
[01:15:29] Yes. If you don't know who Raleigh Richie is, Google it and then be prepared to be taken under his spell.
[01:15:39] So good. So I do need to watch it. Maybe I this is my my wake up call to binge through.
[01:15:44] Of course, Outer Range just started season two like this week.
[01:15:48] And so now I've got to binge the shit through that because it's so good.
[01:15:51] But you know what? TV. Love TV. It's too much of it all the time.
[01:15:55] But if you are watching Interview with the Vampire and a big fan of that, definitely check out the House Podcastica and Adrenaline Cinema joint coverage there.
[01:16:02] The episode season two, episode one is up now.
[01:16:06] What can the dam really say to the dam? You can go check out that right now.
[01:16:09] Definitely go do that. And then over on the cast of The Rings, which of course is the podcast dedicated to the Rings of Power, the Amazon Prime Lord of the Rings show,
[01:16:19] did have a special episode this past week, even though Rings of Power is still kind of between seasons, not doing anything right now.
[01:16:25] But they want to talk about another I mean, kind of medieval. It's Feudal Japan.
[01:16:31] Feudal Japan, we're still doing all kinds of crazy war stuff and it's all like, you know, based off of a book.
[01:16:38] So with some kind of historical fiction in there, of course, I'm talking about the FX series Shogun.
[01:16:43] So over on that podcast, Penny, Jonathan and Sam all got together to cover the entire series Shogun,
[01:16:51] just all in one episode to kind of really break down a lot of the historical truth,
[01:16:56] like some of the actual historical figures and stories that the book was based on and then talk about the show and everything in between the book, reality and show.
[01:17:05] It's a great conversation with a lot of really cool in-depth stuff. I've learned a lot listening to it.
[01:17:09] So definitely check that out. Really, really good.
[01:17:14] Over on the Sandman cast, of course, Jamie and Mark still going through that Sandman spin-off series, Dead Boy Detectives.
[01:17:22] So they're covering that over there. So check out the Sandman cast to get your coverage of Dead Boy Detectives.
[01:17:27] Extraordinary cast still going with season two of Extraordinary, which is a Hulu series, I believe.
[01:17:35] It's also on Disney Plus. You get that combo.
[01:17:38] Everything's on Disney Plus now because like if you have a Hulu subscription, they just threw all of the Hulu stuff also on.
[01:17:46] So it's interesting. I can go on to Disney Plus and watch Shogun and Bob's Burgers.
[01:17:51] All of my stuff I need Hulu for, I can just watch, which it means when Handmaid's Tale comes back, it's going to be on Disney Plus.
[01:17:58] And that's a weird thing to think about.
[01:18:00] I don't know how that computes.
[01:18:04] Yeah, right?
[01:18:06] Yeah, that doesn't seem to work.
[01:18:10] So yeah, but anyway, Extraordinary. You can go check out Greg and Penny covering that with The Exorcism of Carrie Jackson, episode three.
[01:18:18] Coverage right now. Go check that out.
[01:18:20] And so that's it for Podcastica.
[01:18:22] But of course, always give that love over to TV podcast industries who are also doing their own coverage of Dead Boy Detectives.
[01:18:28] You can go check them out as well.
[01:18:31] But aside from all of that, we always have something fresh and fun for you right here on Run for Your Lives.
[01:18:37] What are we doing next week?
[01:18:39] Well, it's that time of the season where we close in and get ready to bid adieu to season seven of Run for Your Lives.
[01:18:52] And we've covered a Tremors movie.
[01:18:55] We've done everything we need to do.
[01:18:57] And now we are going to be doing what used to be our look back special and still kind of is.
[01:19:06] But it's when we give out our Riffle Awards for season seven.
[01:19:12] So we're going to be talking about main and side characters, threats, movies and episodes.
[01:19:19] So tune in next week to learn more about what we think about what we've covered and be sure to send us your thoughts on what you've enjoyed this season.
[01:19:31] Absolutely. We would love to hear your feedback if you're somebody especially like Catherine.
[01:19:35] I'll give you a little shout out again.
[01:19:36] Yeah, who's been listening along with us and watching along with us all season.
[01:19:40] All the movies that we've covered, all the different episodes we've done.
[01:19:43] What were your favorites? What are your favorite movies?
[01:19:45] What are your favorite episodes, your favorite monsters or villains, threats, whatever they are, your favorite characters from all of these movies.
[01:19:52] We want to hear from you.
[01:19:53] What are your favorites of this past season?
[01:19:55] And then tune in next week and you'll get to hear ours.
[01:19:58] Yeah, it's going to be great.
[01:20:01] With that, we've reached the end of our episode.
[01:20:03] Thanks everyone for listening.
[01:20:05] I'm Daphne.
[01:20:06] And I'm Peg.
[01:20:08] And if you have to run, you better run for your lives.
[01:20:12] Good night.
