[00:00:06] [SPEAKER_00]: You're listening to the Run For Your Lives Podcast.

[00:00:31] [SPEAKER_03]: Hey everyone, welcome to the show. I'm Daphne.

[00:00:35] [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm Pake.

[00:00:37] [SPEAKER_03]: And this is the Run For Your Lives Podcast.

[00:00:41] [SPEAKER_00]: This episode is a little bit of a special one, another one of our little fun episodes between movies where we can do something a little different.

[00:00:50] [SPEAKER_00]: And we've talked a lot about different favorites and things we want to cover and things like that.

[00:00:57] [SPEAKER_00]: And this week, we're switching it up again a little bit with looking back at some of our least favorite movies and characters we've talked about over the years.

[00:01:06] [SPEAKER_00]: And things maybe, you know, instead of looking forward to doing we might regret.

[00:01:12] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if regret's the right word because these conversations were all fun, even if the movie was terrible.

[00:01:16] [SPEAKER_00]: So I don't regret any of it.

[00:01:18] [SPEAKER_03]: Me either.

[00:01:19] [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, we're kind of looking back.

[00:01:21] [SPEAKER_00]: So instead of the riffle awards, think of this as kind of the riffle razzies, right?

[00:01:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:01:28] [SPEAKER_00]: We're picking our least favorite movies and characters.

[00:01:32] [SPEAKER_00]: We're not going all the way as far side characters and monsters and episodes and things like that.

[00:01:36] [SPEAKER_00]: It's just movies and then characters.

[00:01:39] [SPEAKER_00]: They could be main or side characters, just any character in that movie that we felt was worse.

[00:01:44] [SPEAKER_00]: And not like, oh, that character is so bad.

[00:01:47] [SPEAKER_00]: I hate them so much.

[00:01:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, no.

[00:01:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Like you love to hate them.

[00:01:50] [SPEAKER_00]: There was like a great villain or like a character that's just evil or disgusting.

[00:01:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Like, no, those are well-written characters.

[00:01:57] [SPEAKER_00]: If they give you those feelings, these are more characters that are like, what's the point of this person in this movie?

[00:02:02] [SPEAKER_00]: They're annoying, but not in a way that helps the plot or things like that.

[00:02:09] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, or they make stupid, like they're just stupid.

[00:02:13] [SPEAKER_03]: And you're watching the movie and you're just like, why are they here?

[00:02:18] [SPEAKER_03]: They're so dumb.

[00:02:19] [SPEAKER_03]: Like they're doing dumb things.

[00:02:21] [SPEAKER_03]: Like what the hell?

[00:02:23] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm wondering if our number ones are going to be the same because I can conceivably...

[00:02:28] [SPEAKER_00]: I feel like it probably is, as much as we've talked about a lot of things that we won't say now.

[00:02:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Because yeah, we do this like we've been doing the riffles lately where we've both come up with a top five.

[00:02:39] [SPEAKER_00]: I also have five dishonorable mentions in each one just for fun.

[00:02:45] [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, but I have them listed as 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, like in actual order of those worst.

[00:02:50] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if we're going to pick like the winner or like an award.

[00:02:54] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.

[00:02:54] [SPEAKER_00]: We might just break down our own personal top fives and we haven't discussed it in advance.

[00:03:00] [SPEAKER_00]: So there is likely to be some overlap, I feel like at least in a couple of places.

[00:03:05] [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, it's going to be fun.

[00:03:07] [SPEAKER_03]: There's one worst movie on my list that I actually didn't hate it.

[00:03:13] [SPEAKER_03]: I found it fun, but it really wasn't very good.

[00:03:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[00:03:19] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, no, there's especially when you get to my dishonorable mentions for movies.

[00:03:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Some of my favorite movies are in that list, the ones that I really had a fun time with.

[00:03:27] [SPEAKER_00]: But I was like, they're terrible.

[00:03:29] [SPEAKER_00]: But that's kind of the reason I love them.

[00:03:32] [SPEAKER_03]: I know I might break your heart with one of them.

[00:03:35] [SPEAKER_03]: I'll try not to.

[00:03:39] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay, so I figured what we could do is since we're doing character and movie, we could do it in a way that one would go first for one section and the other person could go first for the second section.

[00:03:53] [SPEAKER_03]: That way it's fair.

[00:03:56] [SPEAKER_01]: All right.

[00:03:56] [SPEAKER_03]: Does that make sense?

[00:03:58] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:03:59] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay, now I'm going to ask you which would you like to do first the character or the movie?

[00:04:05] [SPEAKER_00]: I feel like to work with the way that my notes are set up at least movies first.

[00:04:10] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay.

[00:04:11] [SPEAKER_03]: All right, that sounds good.

[00:04:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Kind of how I have it set because spoiler alert, but not really.

[00:04:17] [SPEAKER_00]: There's a certain character that most of my reasoning and rant of the movie is because of that character.

[00:04:25] [SPEAKER_00]: And so then when I get to characters, I'm like, you already heard all the thoughts that I had on that one.

[00:04:28] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't need to repeat myself.

[00:04:31] [SPEAKER_03]: All right.

[00:04:32] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay, so I'll go first.

[00:04:35] [SPEAKER_03]: I volunteer as tribute to go first.

[00:04:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.

[00:04:40] [SPEAKER_03]: My number five, it pained me to put this on the list because despite John Bradley's amazing Casey Houseman, which I loved, this movie was a big disappointment.

[00:04:54] [SPEAKER_03]: It lacked a lot of things and the box office thought so too.

[00:05:02] [SPEAKER_03]: And that is Moonfall.

[00:05:04] [SPEAKER_00]: That is a dishonorable mention for me.

[00:05:07] [SPEAKER_03]: So yeah.

[00:05:08] [SPEAKER_03]: I wanted to love it.

[00:05:10] [SPEAKER_03]: Roland Emmerich has done some great movies.

[00:05:13] [SPEAKER_03]: He seems to do disaster really well.

[00:05:16] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if he rushed on this one or it could be that because it was done during the pandemic, it like was missing a few things.

[00:05:26] [SPEAKER_03]: Maybe some pages fell out and got lost somewhere.

[00:05:31] [SPEAKER_03]: But it really disappointed me and I had to put it as number five.

[00:05:36] [SPEAKER_03]: I hate to do it because John Bradley was so good.

[00:05:41] [SPEAKER_03]: Like he was such a shining beacon in that movie.

[00:05:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but a shining beacon in a very murky, very murky area.

[00:05:51] [SPEAKER_00]: The rest of it, not so great.

[00:05:54] [SPEAKER_00]: How does moments is it the reason it went into the mentions and not in my actual top five?

[00:05:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Because when I really pitted a lot of things together, I was like, I'd rather rewatch that than some of these other ones that made

[00:06:05] [SPEAKER_00]: the top five.

[00:06:09] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm really interested in what made your top five and I'm wondering if there's overlap because I could see number one being

[00:06:16] [SPEAKER_03]: the same in both.

[00:06:18] [SPEAKER_00]: I feel like, yeah, we know each other well enough that without saying what it is yet, yeah, no, there's definitely.

[00:06:25] [SPEAKER_00]: But my first one, my number five, the lowest of the crimes here, which might surprise people as much as I always use this

[00:06:37] [SPEAKER_00]: as like a litmus test of like bad movie, that it's only number five.

[00:06:41] [SPEAKER_00]: But it is The Happening.

[00:06:44] [SPEAKER_00]: OK.

[00:06:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Because again, we talked about like, it's very bad.

[00:06:50] [SPEAKER_00]: But like, it's almost so bad that it's fun to watch because you just like, oh, my God, it's terrible.

[00:06:58] [SPEAKER_00]: And it's not like I don't know this is on list.

[00:07:01] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going to. But like if we talk about Thanksgiving where it's like it's terrible on purpose.

[00:07:06] [SPEAKER_00]: This one's not terrible on purpose, but it still almost goes to that point of so bad that it's fun to watch

[00:07:11] [SPEAKER_00]: because it's bad anyway, despite what it was trying to do.

[00:07:15] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, there's what needs to be said about The Happening.

[00:07:18] [SPEAKER_00]: The acting is atrocious, the dialogue awful.

[00:07:23] [SPEAKER_00]: And it hurts because it was an interesting concept that was completely botched with the worst execution of those

[00:07:28] [SPEAKER_00]: terrible ideas. You know, why is the old lady?

[00:07:33] [SPEAKER_00]: That's the end of that question.

[00:07:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Just why is the old lady?

[00:07:39] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know. I don't have an answer.

[00:07:41] [SPEAKER_03]: I feel like this was when M. Night Shyamalan was going through his phase of, I don't know,

[00:07:50] [SPEAKER_03]: where things were just not living up to what they should.

[00:07:56] [SPEAKER_00]: That's from most of his repertoire, unfortunately.

[00:08:02] [SPEAKER_00]: There's a few things that jump out and shine, but like he's a grab bag.

[00:08:06] [SPEAKER_03]: I have heard good things about Trap.

[00:08:10] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm interested in it, but it's still, I mean, like I thought that Split and Glass were going to like

[00:08:17] [SPEAKER_00]: save the Shyamalan name for me, but then other stuff that he's done even since then,

[00:08:22] [SPEAKER_00]: it's like he's still one that you got to approach with caution.

[00:08:26] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, a friend of mine who often or once in a while will send in feedback, Howard Bannister.

[00:08:35] [SPEAKER_03]: He went to see it. He thinks I'm going to love it.

[00:08:38] [SPEAKER_03]: He said it's very good.

[00:08:41] [SPEAKER_03]: So I'm hoping.

[00:08:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Looks interesting.

[00:08:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and it's Josh Hartnett who does not come out and do things all the time.

[00:08:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Don't see Hartnett a lot. He did just randomly show up in The Bear, but in Season 3.

[00:08:55] [SPEAKER_03]: He's not someone who's just jumping in to do whatever.

[00:09:00] [SPEAKER_03]: He seems to be thinking about what he's taking on, so maybe.

[00:09:06] [SPEAKER_03]: We'll see. We'll cover it. I mean, if we feel like it, if it's good enough, we'll cover it,

[00:09:13] [SPEAKER_03]: but we'll see.

[00:09:15] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay, so getting back on track, my number four,

[00:09:20] [SPEAKER_03]: I think is at the very least on your list or a dishonorable mention has to be,

[00:09:27] [SPEAKER_03]: and that is Final Girl.

[00:09:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Mm hmm.

[00:09:30] [SPEAKER_03]: I wanted to like this one. I so wanted to like this one.

[00:09:34] [SPEAKER_03]: I like the idea of a tough girl taking out the mean boys, but it ended up making me grumpy.

[00:09:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Even though I enjoyed the episode that we did, I thought it was fun how we ripped it

[00:09:47] [SPEAKER_03]: and I feel like it was just a blast.

[00:09:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, bad movies can still be fun for us to cover.

[00:09:53] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't want us to avoid doing them because we have really fun conversations

[00:09:57] [SPEAKER_00]: and then we get to do something like this.

[00:09:59] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, so Veronica I think could have been so much more cutthroat and vicious than she wasn't.

[00:10:07] [SPEAKER_03]: And I liked the cast that was in it,

[00:10:11] [SPEAKER_03]: but at times it seemed like a strange cartoon with inappropriate waffles.

[00:10:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[00:10:19] [SPEAKER_03]: At the end.

[00:10:20] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so I'll go ahead and since you mentioned it, I'll throw my thoughts in on it because

[00:10:24] [SPEAKER_00]: it's my number three actually, so there's one between.

[00:10:29] [SPEAKER_00]: But since you bring it up then I'll talk about what I've got on it.

[00:10:33] [SPEAKER_00]: It's another concept that seemed really cool, like the happening,

[00:10:36] [SPEAKER_00]: that just gets fumbled. There's too many unanswered questions.

[00:10:40] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, what is Williams reasoning for all of this personally?

[00:10:43] [SPEAKER_00]: What was his actual connection? Why was he involved? What was his vendetta?

[00:10:47] [SPEAKER_00]: And then the relationship between him and Veronica was just uncomfortable and gross.

[00:10:51] [SPEAKER_00]: And again, I have two words, waffle scene.

[00:10:53] [SPEAKER_03]: Yep, inappropriate waffles.

[00:10:56] [SPEAKER_00]: The boys are lifeless caricatures of evil and also way overacting at the same time.

[00:11:02] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know how they managed to pull that off, but they did.

[00:11:04] [SPEAKER_03]: And they're good actors.

[00:11:06] [SPEAKER_03]: And the strange thing is, like, Alexander Ludwig is so good in Hunger Games,

[00:11:15] [SPEAKER_03]: in Vikings, in so many things he's in.

[00:11:19] [SPEAKER_03]: Heels! Oh, how could I forget heels?

[00:11:23] [SPEAKER_03]: In this, I felt like he was like a pale, insignificant watercolor painting.

[00:11:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and then there's just so many.

[00:11:34] [SPEAKER_00]: I hope that people listen to our episodes of some of these movies.

[00:11:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Don't let this deter you from them. You don't have to watch the movie,

[00:11:42] [SPEAKER_00]: but listen to those episodes because we have a really good time with them.

[00:11:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[00:11:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so if you listen to the episodes,

[00:11:48] [SPEAKER_00]: you'll get more specifics on these kind of things.

[00:11:50] [SPEAKER_00]: But also with Final Girl, so many just terrible cinematic and cinematography choices,

[00:11:55] [SPEAKER_00]: the way things are edited and shot and cut and just angles and sets.

[00:12:01] [SPEAKER_00]: It's like this doesn't make any sense.

[00:12:04] [SPEAKER_00]: It's so weird.

[00:12:04] [SPEAKER_00]: And I had lots of jokes and quips and stuff about those things in the episode.

[00:12:09] [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, but when you look at it, like, aside from it's something like comedy material,

[00:12:15] [SPEAKER_00]: then it's just like, but on face value, it's bad.

[00:12:18] [SPEAKER_03]: I wanted it to be better because I like Abigail Breslin.

[00:12:21] [SPEAKER_03]: I think she's been wonderful in so many movies,

[00:12:26] [SPEAKER_03]: but this, I feel like she was holding back the entire time.

[00:12:31] [SPEAKER_03]: It was so subdued.

[00:12:34] [SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, that is my number four.

[00:12:37] [SPEAKER_00]: All right.

[00:12:37] [SPEAKER_00]: So even though I just, I gave my number three,

[00:12:39] [SPEAKER_00]: but then I'll do my number four and then we'll balance back out.

[00:12:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Uh, so my number four, Halloween kills.

[00:12:50] [SPEAKER_03]: How ironic that that's my number three.

[00:12:54] [SPEAKER_00]: Nice.

[00:12:55] [SPEAKER_03]: So we can balance it right back out.

[00:12:57] [SPEAKER_00]: This movie was the beginning of The Downfall.

[00:13:02] [SPEAKER_00]: We loved Halloween 2018 so much.

[00:13:05] [SPEAKER_00]: I really still do.

[00:13:06] [SPEAKER_00]: It's such a great movie.

[00:13:07] [SPEAKER_00]: And remember covering that one and we had all these great hopes for the trilogy

[00:13:11] [SPEAKER_00]: and we were just like, oh, it's going to be great.

[00:13:13] [SPEAKER_00]: We wanted Alison to have a bigger and better story arc.

[00:13:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Nope.

[00:13:16] [SPEAKER_00]: No.

[00:13:16] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, Laurie is going to be a badass again after all this training we saw her doing.

[00:13:21] [SPEAKER_00]: No.

[00:13:22] [SPEAKER_00]: We're just going to stick her in a hospital room almost the entire movie.

[00:13:25] [SPEAKER_00]: How about that?

[00:13:27] [SPEAKER_03]: I had such high hopes for this because characters were coming back

[00:13:32] [SPEAKER_03]: and instead it was a mess.

[00:13:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Uh, you know, mob mentality is the real killer of the movie

[00:13:42] [SPEAKER_00]: and it puts, which is again, a concept that's cool.

[00:13:46] [SPEAKER_00]: That is just not done well because then it ends up putting too much focus on other people that we

[00:13:50] [SPEAKER_00]: just don't care about at all.

[00:13:53] [SPEAKER_03]: We didn't need to see they brought people back.

[00:13:55] [SPEAKER_03]: They could have integrated it more.

[00:13:58] [SPEAKER_03]: Poor Anthony Michael Hall was Tommy Doyle.

[00:14:03] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.

[00:14:05] [SPEAKER_03]: They made him his character was like

[00:14:08] [SPEAKER_03]: Tommy Doyle took a bunch of speed and was running around aimlessly doing shit.

[00:14:17] [SPEAKER_03]: That's the bad guy.

[00:14:17] [SPEAKER_03]: No, you're the bad guy.

[00:14:18] [SPEAKER_03]: No, this is the bad guy.

[00:14:20] [SPEAKER_03]: And then there's a woman with a toaster that became one of the biggest memes out there.

[00:14:29] [SPEAKER_03]: And Alison, as we talked about, she had so much potential in it.

[00:14:34] [SPEAKER_03]: Didn't materialize in this one.

[00:14:38] [SPEAKER_03]: And so it put me off of these movies and I thought, okay, well, there's one more.

[00:14:44] [SPEAKER_03]: Maybe we'll bring it all back together.

[00:14:49] [SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, my number three is Halloween kills.

[00:14:53] [SPEAKER_03]: We have no love for that movie.

[00:14:55] [SPEAKER_03]: None.

[00:14:56] [SPEAKER_01]: No, not at all.

[00:14:57] [SPEAKER_03]: And there are only two that we think are worse.

[00:15:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Which since we're balancing back out, so that was four and then you're three.

[00:15:06] [SPEAKER_00]: So then we'll go back to you.

[00:15:07] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes.

[00:15:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Get back on track with your number two.

[00:15:09] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay, so I want to preface this by saying this movie was truly terrible,

[00:15:14] [SPEAKER_03]: but I did love it at the same time because it was so ridiculous.

[00:15:19] [SPEAKER_03]: But I have to put it here because it just has to be on it.

[00:15:22] [SPEAKER_03]: We can't do this list without it being there.

[00:15:25] [SPEAKER_03]: And so number two is Thanksgiving.

[00:15:28] [SPEAKER_03]: I did find it hilarious and I don't even call it Thanksgiving.

[00:15:33] [SPEAKER_03]: I call it Turkey.

[00:15:34] [SPEAKER_03]: Like I have never called it Thanksgiving.

[00:15:38] [SPEAKER_03]: I've never watched the third one.

[00:15:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Don't.

[00:15:42] [SPEAKER_00]: It's not what I have.

[00:15:44] [SPEAKER_00]: I own it.

[00:15:45] [SPEAKER_00]: I've seen it.

[00:15:46] [SPEAKER_00]: We're not going to cover it.

[00:15:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, good.

[00:15:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Because it's not even like the ridiculousness of Thanksgiving.

[00:15:53] [SPEAKER_00]: They go in even more directions and I'm like,

[00:15:57] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't even want to talk about that.

[00:15:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Like it's just offensive for the sake of being offensive over the top,

[00:16:02] [SPEAKER_00]: for the being the sake of over the top.

[00:16:04] [SPEAKER_00]: It's just like, yeah, we don't need that.

[00:16:07] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:16:08] [SPEAKER_03]: Yep.

[00:16:09] Agreed.

[00:16:10] [SPEAKER_03]: So much.

[00:16:12] [SPEAKER_03]: So that's my number two.

[00:16:14] [SPEAKER_00]: All right.

[00:16:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Uh, I don't know if you're going to have expected this one or not,

[00:16:18] [SPEAKER_00]: but we'll see.

[00:16:18] [SPEAKER_03]: I expected.

[00:16:20] [SPEAKER_03]: I know I have a feeling.

[00:16:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Number two.

[00:16:24] [SPEAKER_03]: I know.

[00:16:25] [SPEAKER_03]: Don't.

[00:16:26] [SPEAKER_03]: Don't.

[00:16:26] [SPEAKER_03]: Don't rip the-

[00:16:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Don't rip the-

[00:16:28] [SPEAKER_00]: The one that you're thinking of is only a dishonorable mention,

[00:16:30] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm pretty sure.

[00:16:31] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh my gosh.

[00:16:32] [SPEAKER_00]: You're safe from that.

[00:16:33] [SPEAKER_00]: No, number two is Pet Sematary Bloodlines.

[00:16:41] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, that's on my dishonorable mentions list.

[00:16:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[00:16:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, it was so bad.

[00:16:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the running theme of these picks for me really is

[00:16:51] [SPEAKER_00]: just poor execution of something that should have been good.

[00:16:56] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, with this one, like, oh, it's a prequel.

[00:16:59] [SPEAKER_00]: We're supposed to get an understanding of the character of Judd Crandall better

[00:17:02] [SPEAKER_00]: and see what makes him tick, what leads him from point A to the point we see him as an old man

[00:17:08] [SPEAKER_00]: and what he's doing with Church and then with the kids,

[00:17:12] [SPEAKER_00]: either the boy or the girl, depending on which version you watch, the original or the remake.

[00:17:17] [SPEAKER_00]: But instead it just makes me view the character of Judd as more idiotic,

[00:17:23] [SPEAKER_00]: where it's just like, okay, and not even just him, but like

[00:17:25] [SPEAKER_00]: the founding families and all these other people that we see.

[00:17:28] [SPEAKER_00]: It's like after this, that what happens in Bloodlines,

[00:17:31] [SPEAKER_00]: like any level of intelligence from anyone in Murder Truck Main

[00:17:36] [SPEAKER_00]: should have prevented what happens in the later movies, either adaptation.

[00:17:43] [SPEAKER_00]: It just makes this town feel more like, oh, so this is all the stuff that happened

[00:17:49] [SPEAKER_00]: and they should have been more equipped.

[00:17:51] [SPEAKER_00]: We shouldn't have what happened.

[00:17:52] [SPEAKER_00]: It's a prequel that doesn't explain what happened.

[00:17:55] [SPEAKER_00]: It just makes everybody seem more stupid.

[00:17:59] [SPEAKER_00]: I just don't think it was okay.

[00:18:01] [SPEAKER_00]: It was fun for some things, but also it wasn't necessary as a prequel.

[00:18:08] [SPEAKER_00]: It didn't help the overlying story.

[00:18:12] [SPEAKER_00]: And also weird dialogue and cinematic choices were in this one as well.

[00:18:16] [SPEAKER_00]: I went back to my notes on all these movies when we covered them and looked through them

[00:18:20] [SPEAKER_00]: and just a lot of notes of me being like, why did he say that?

[00:18:23] [SPEAKER_00]: What was the deal with that?

[00:18:24] [SPEAKER_03]: That was weird.

[00:18:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:18:29] [SPEAKER_03]: Man.

[00:18:31] [SPEAKER_03]: That's a good one.

[00:18:33] [SPEAKER_03]: I couldn't put it on my list though, because I had other feelings about the movies that

[00:18:37] [SPEAKER_03]: I did put on my list.

[00:18:39] [SPEAKER_03]: But that brings us to number one.

[00:18:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Yes.

[00:18:43] [SPEAKER_00]: And I think we have the same one.

[00:18:45] [SPEAKER_03]: I think we do too.

[00:18:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Your turn.

[00:18:46] [SPEAKER_00]: So I'll let you go and then I'll have my rant after yours.

[00:18:49] [SPEAKER_03]: We can both rant because it needs to happen.

[00:18:53] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay.

[00:18:53] [SPEAKER_03]: So it took a lot to displace Turkey because Turkey should be the worst movie

[00:18:58] [SPEAKER_03]: that we've ever covered.

[00:19:01] [SPEAKER_03]: Hypothetically, the problem is there was this other monstrosity that we covered

[00:19:07] [SPEAKER_03]: as a Halloween special that...

[00:19:14] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh man.

[00:19:17] [SPEAKER_03]: This one was a train wreck from start to finish.

[00:19:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Nobody wants to see the great iconic Michael Myers in the condition he was in in this movie,

[00:19:28] [SPEAKER_03]: despite being the age he was supposed to be.

[00:19:31] [SPEAKER_03]: And nobody wants to see Laurie Strode's granddaughter be real dumb.

[00:19:37] [SPEAKER_03]: And that is exactly what we got.

[00:19:40] [SPEAKER_03]: I thought it couldn't get any worse with Alison.

[00:19:43] [SPEAKER_00]: You haven't even said the name of the movie, by the way.

[00:19:45] [SPEAKER_00]: I've just noticed.

[00:19:47] [SPEAKER_00]: But people know.

[00:19:48] [SPEAKER_00]: We know.

[00:19:49] [SPEAKER_03]: Everyone who listens to this podcast knows Halloween Ends is the worst movie

[00:19:55] [SPEAKER_03]: we've ever covered.

[00:19:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[00:19:57] [SPEAKER_00]: It just is.

[00:19:57] [SPEAKER_00]: In my notes, the big one.

[00:20:00] [SPEAKER_00]: What a terrible, terrible movie.

[00:20:03] [SPEAKER_03]: It was a mess.

[00:20:05] [SPEAKER_00]: Ending on for this trilogy?

[00:20:07] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay.

[00:20:08] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh man.

[00:20:08] [SPEAKER_03]: Laurie Strode.

[00:20:11] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm so sorry for you that this is how it went out because, man,

[00:20:18] [SPEAKER_03]: they could have done some really good things.

[00:20:20] [SPEAKER_03]: They could have steered things back on track with this one.

[00:20:24] [SPEAKER_03]: They made it worse.

[00:20:26] [SPEAKER_03]: If it's even possible to make it worse.

[00:20:29] [SPEAKER_03]: From Halloween Kills.

[00:20:32] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[00:20:33] [SPEAKER_00]: It's...

[00:20:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god.

[00:20:34] [SPEAKER_00]: This is just...

[00:20:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Here's my rant.

[00:20:36] [SPEAKER_00]: I'll just read what I wrote down.

[00:20:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Making Michael Myers a sad sewer clown who's overpowered by Cory.

[00:20:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Fucking Cory.

[00:20:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Which, who?

[00:20:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Why do we care about this motherfucker?

[00:20:48] [SPEAKER_00]: At all.

[00:20:50] [SPEAKER_00]: Weird dialogue and character choices.

[00:20:52] [SPEAKER_00]: The whole fake suicide call thing at the end made zero sense.

[00:20:55] [SPEAKER_00]: That's just one of many awful, awful, awful writing moments.

[00:21:00] [SPEAKER_00]: The most contrived situations.

[00:21:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Ruined Michael.

[00:21:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Ruined Allison.

[00:21:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Ruined Laurie.

[00:21:05] [SPEAKER_00]: And also again, who and why the fuck is Cory?

[00:21:09] [SPEAKER_00]: He's got this weird mental connection to Michael that's just beyond ridiculous.

[00:21:13] [SPEAKER_00]: It cured his poor eyesight apparently.

[00:21:16] [SPEAKER_00]: It's literally the worst of our worst without question.

[00:21:20] [SPEAKER_03]: And you know what the sad thing is?

[00:21:22] [SPEAKER_03]: David Gordon Green gave us Halloween 2018.

[00:21:27] [SPEAKER_03]: By all intents and purposes, this should have been a slam dunk 3 series trilogy.

[00:21:34] [SPEAKER_03]: And it failed.

[00:21:38] [SPEAKER_00]: What were these writing choices?

[00:21:40] [SPEAKER_00]: 2018 was so damn good.

[00:21:43] [SPEAKER_00]: What went wrong?

[00:21:44] [SPEAKER_00]: What happened?

[00:21:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Just do the other two of this trilogy in the same vein.

[00:21:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Why are you trying to make other villains and why are you trying to make other contrived

[00:21:56] [SPEAKER_00]: things for people to deal with?

[00:21:57] [SPEAKER_00]: We know who Michael Myers is.

[00:22:00] [SPEAKER_00]: Just set him up as the threat and build characters correctly.

[00:22:06] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not a writer so I don't want to come out here and say it's not that hard.

[00:22:09] [SPEAKER_00]: I've never done it, but I've seen a lot of good movies.

[00:22:12] [SPEAKER_00]: I know it's possible more than this was.

[00:22:16] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, why, why, why you gotta do Michael so bad?

[00:22:22] [SPEAKER_03]: Because he's iconic.

[00:22:25] [SPEAKER_03]: We're talking about a killer that's been around since 78, I think.

[00:22:31] [SPEAKER_03]: He's iconic and you just made him meek.

[00:22:38] [SPEAKER_03]: I'd rather seen him killed off or I don't know.

[00:22:44] [SPEAKER_03]: This was not okay.

[00:22:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Again, going back and looking at my notes of all these movies to pull stuff from for this,

[00:22:55] [SPEAKER_00]: on Halloween Ends, one of my final notes is just, well that's finally over, thank God.

[00:23:03] [SPEAKER_00]: I haven't changed apparently in a couple years since we did that one.

[00:23:07] [SPEAKER_00]: It's the same thought.

[00:23:08] [SPEAKER_03]: No, nothing ever changes.

[00:23:10] [SPEAKER_03]: How many times do we bring up Halloween Ends and talk about how bad it is?

[00:23:15] [SPEAKER_03]: I feel like we weave into some of the other movies we're covering.

[00:23:19] [SPEAKER_03]: It's ridiculous but it's what happens because it's truly horrible.

[00:23:26] [SPEAKER_03]: Just horrible.

[00:23:29] [SPEAKER_03]: So would you like to know some of my, or I only have a couple of honorable.

[00:23:35] [SPEAKER_00]: I'd like to know all of them, don't leave anything to mystery.

[00:23:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Let me know all your dishonorable mentions.

[00:23:40] [SPEAKER_03]: I thought you were telepathic and could figure it out without me telling you.

[00:23:44] [SPEAKER_00]: All the listeners aren't so they want to know.

[00:23:46] [SPEAKER_03]: They want to know.

[00:23:47] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay so also on my list, Pet Sementary, Bloodlines, The Happening,

[00:23:54] [SPEAKER_03]: and this one could break Pig's heart, but The Gate.

[00:24:03] [SPEAKER_03]: Were you afraid?

[00:24:04] [SPEAKER_03]: Not Terry.

[00:24:05] [SPEAKER_03]: Were you afraid I was gonna pick-

[00:24:06] [SPEAKER_00]: If you come for Terry in the next section, I will have words.

[00:24:11] [SPEAKER_03]: Did you think I was gonna pick a Trimmers movie when I said I'd break your heart?

[00:24:17] [SPEAKER_00]: There's this little thought and that's why- was that all of yours?

[00:24:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:24:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Okay there's a little thought of that because here's my dishonorable mention.

[00:24:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Thanks Killing is in there.

[00:24:27] [SPEAKER_00]: I love it because it's bad, but it's bad.

[00:24:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Also, Trimmers 3.

[00:24:32] [SPEAKER_00]: I'll rewatch it a million times, happily, but it's the worst of the worst when it comes to

[00:24:38] [SPEAKER_00]: the Trimmers movie.

[00:24:38] [SPEAKER_00]: CGI was awful.

[00:24:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh my goodness.

[00:24:42] [SPEAKER_00]: It does introduce the ass blasters and there's some characters coming back and some stuff,

[00:24:46] [SPEAKER_00]: but like it's the hardest one for me to watch.

[00:24:49] [SPEAKER_00]: I'll still happily watch it, but it's the hardest one to do and a lot of that is CGI.

[00:24:54] [SPEAKER_03]: So you broke your own heart and Levi's heart by picking that.

[00:24:58] [SPEAKER_00]: I know, I know.

[00:25:00] [SPEAKER_00]: But again, they can be bad movies and I can still love them and that's okay.

[00:25:05] [SPEAKER_03]: And now you're gonna break my heart.

[00:25:08] [SPEAKER_00]: 30 Days of Night is the next one.

[00:25:10] [SPEAKER_00]: Again, not a bad movie, but it's just the villain mechanics of that movie was something

[00:25:17] [SPEAKER_00]: that I could not let go of when we covered that one and there was just a lot of weird

[00:25:22] [SPEAKER_00]: writing for me and it soured me on some things.

[00:25:30] [SPEAKER_03]: Well, okay.

[00:25:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Moonfall also in a dishonorable mention.

[00:25:35] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if I can finish this podcast.

[00:25:37] [SPEAKER_03]: I may have to go cry into a pillow now.

[00:25:41] [SPEAKER_00]: And then lastly, this one might hurt too.

[00:25:43] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.

[00:25:45] [SPEAKER_00]: The Meg 2, The Trench.

[00:25:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Again, will I rewatch it?

[00:25:51] [SPEAKER_00]: I haven't, but like if the possibility came up, like I wouldn't be against it.

[00:25:57] [SPEAKER_00]: There was a lot of fun stuff and great stuff in that movie, but there's also a lot of stupid

[00:26:02] [SPEAKER_00]: stuff in that movie that made zero sense.

[00:26:07] Okay.

[00:26:09] [SPEAKER_03]: It hurts.

[00:26:10] [SPEAKER_03]: You have hurt me deeply.

[00:26:12] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if I can recover.

[00:26:17] [SPEAKER_03]: I guess we'll have to move on to characters, but I'm so afraid.

[00:26:22] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm so afraid of what's coming.

[00:26:24] [SPEAKER_00]: I was gonna say I don't think you need to be, but actually you might.

[00:26:27] [SPEAKER_00]: There might be.

[00:26:29] [SPEAKER_00]: We'll see.

[00:26:29] [SPEAKER_00]: We'll see.

[00:26:30] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I have a feeling already.

[00:26:33] [SPEAKER_03]: Man, this is gonna be painful.

[00:26:36] [SPEAKER_03]: I didn't know that when I came up with the suggestion that I was gonna have to

[00:26:40] [SPEAKER_03]: take it in the stomach a couple times.

[00:26:44] [SPEAKER_00]: That's how it goes.

[00:26:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Free game.

[00:26:46] [SPEAKER_00]: You have the opportunity to do the same to me.

[00:26:49] [SPEAKER_00]: It's just that like I have good taste, so like you can't crap on my movies,

[00:26:53] [SPEAKER_00]: my favorites.

[00:26:56] [SPEAKER_03]: Don't even.

[00:26:57] [SPEAKER_00]: If only you can see the see thing going on and the eye roll and the sheer hatred.

[00:27:06] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh man, okay.

[00:27:08] [SPEAKER_00]: All right, so let's go with characters.

[00:27:10] [SPEAKER_00]: I get to start with this one.

[00:27:11] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm so afraid.

[00:27:13] [SPEAKER_00]: To quote the wonderful Michael Jordan meme, fuck them kids.

[00:27:17] [SPEAKER_00]: The first one, we're going all the way back to the Poseidon adventure.

[00:27:24] [SPEAKER_00]: This extremely loud little boy by the name of Robin.

[00:27:31] [SPEAKER_00]: And hey, you know me.

[00:27:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Man, I like kids.

[00:27:35] [SPEAKER_00]: I work with kids.

[00:27:36] [SPEAKER_00]: I usually gravitate to the child characters in these movies.

[00:27:39] [SPEAKER_00]: There's usually no wrong that kids can do.

[00:27:42] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm like their kids give them their space, give them their dues.

[00:27:46] [SPEAKER_00]: But my God, Robin annoying as all get out.

[00:27:50] [SPEAKER_00]: And really wasn't needed in this movie and constantly yelling, always yelling.

[00:27:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Going back to my notes on Poseidon adventure, there's so many jokes and quips about me

[00:28:01] [SPEAKER_00]: like referring to just how loud this kid is.

[00:28:05] [SPEAKER_00]: Every line is just screaming.

[00:28:06] [SPEAKER_00]: I think I had a note in there that said was like, did Eric Shea get his script

[00:28:10] [SPEAKER_00]: in all caps and then took that as an acting note?

[00:28:16] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh my God.

[00:28:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Eric Shea is not a child anymore.

[00:28:18] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't even know if he's still alive anymore.

[00:28:20] [SPEAKER_00]: Has it been that long?

[00:28:21] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.

[00:28:23] [SPEAKER_00]: So I don't feel bad at all.

[00:28:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Like if he's a grown adult at this point, like you sucked as a kid actor.

[00:28:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Sorry, but you know what?

[00:28:32] [SPEAKER_00]: You've had plenty of years to deal with that and move on.

[00:28:36] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh man.

[00:28:38] [SPEAKER_00]: This movie could have used so much less Robin and his very, very, very loud voice.

[00:28:44] [SPEAKER_03]: He stopped acting in 1978.

[00:28:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah.

[00:28:50] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, not to be too much of like a harsh critic, but you know what?

[00:28:54] [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe that's a good choice.

[00:28:55] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, maybe he found his calling in life to do something,

[00:28:58] [SPEAKER_00]: anything else that he was good at.

[00:29:01] [SPEAKER_00]: That sounds so harsh, but you know what?

[00:29:03] [SPEAKER_03]: It is.

[00:29:03] [SPEAKER_03]: You're being incredibly harsh.

[00:29:04] [SPEAKER_00]: It's harsh to say to a child, but he's not a child anymore.

[00:29:08] [SPEAKER_00]: So hopefully he's realized that at this point.

[00:29:13] [SPEAKER_00]: I would never say these things about a child who's still a child actor, but

[00:29:20] [SPEAKER_00]: it's not a too soon moment.

[00:29:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Plenty of time has gone by since the Poseidon adventure.

[00:29:25] [SPEAKER_00]: He can take it.

[00:29:32] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay.

[00:29:34] [SPEAKER_03]: All right.

[00:29:35] [SPEAKER_03]: So, um, my number five is a character from a movie that was on the list

[00:29:42] [SPEAKER_03]: that we just went through, but not a very big character.

[00:29:47] [SPEAKER_03]: Just to me, it was not necessary.

[00:29:50] [SPEAKER_03]: And that is Pilgrim Girl from Thanks Killing.

[00:29:54] [SPEAKER_03]: She was only at the very beginning.

[00:29:57] [SPEAKER_03]: It's gratuitous.

[00:29:59] [SPEAKER_00]: That's the whole point of the character.

[00:30:01] Yeah.

[00:30:02] [SPEAKER_03]: I can see where you might enjoy it for me.

[00:30:05] [SPEAKER_03]: Not so much.

[00:30:08] [SPEAKER_03]: I found her to be useless and there was no need for it.

[00:30:12] [SPEAKER_03]: And I get why they did it, but I didn't need it.

[00:30:15] [SPEAKER_03]: And I found it useless.

[00:30:16] [SPEAKER_03]: I found her useless.

[00:30:19] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, there are only two big reasons that she was in that movie.

[00:30:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Sure.

[00:30:30] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:30:30] [SPEAKER_03]: She was only in that movie to suck people in at the very beginning,

[00:30:36] [SPEAKER_03]: especially the male audience.

[00:30:41] [SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, I mean, there's nothing else to say.

[00:30:44] [SPEAKER_03]: She was only in the movie for what?

[00:30:46] [SPEAKER_03]: A minute at the most?

[00:30:48] [SPEAKER_03]: Not even.

[00:30:49] [SPEAKER_03]: Not even.

[00:30:49] [SPEAKER_03]: Like 15 seconds running and bouncing.

[00:30:53] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, no, not necessary.

[00:30:56] [SPEAKER_00]: All right.

[00:30:58] [SPEAKER_00]: My number four.

[00:30:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, God.

[00:31:01] [SPEAKER_00]: It's not even the character as much as the actor.

[00:31:03] [SPEAKER_00]: This is an interesting one.

[00:31:05] [SPEAKER_00]: So we got to give character Elliot, but no, Mark Wahlberg in The Happening.

[00:31:13] [SPEAKER_00]: The character is hurt because of the acting.

[00:31:17] [SPEAKER_00]: And usually I'm not a huge Mark Wahlberg fan.

[00:31:21] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not like, I don't love Mark Wahlberg.

[00:31:24] [SPEAKER_00]: He's not somebody who I see his in a movie.

[00:31:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Go, oh God, Wahlberg's in this movie.

[00:31:28] [SPEAKER_00]: I got to go see it.

[00:31:29] [SPEAKER_00]: He's fine.

[00:31:33] [SPEAKER_00]: But Marky Mark was phoning this shit for this movie, and you can tell.

[00:31:38] [SPEAKER_00]: And again, listen to The Happening if you haven't because it's a blast how much we

[00:31:42] [SPEAKER_00]: hated this.

[00:31:43] [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, he's the lead character and I barely had any notes for him.

[00:31:48] [SPEAKER_00]: I went back and checked.

[00:31:49] [SPEAKER_00]: It's like because he made me care almost nothing at all about his character.

[00:31:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Terrible line delivery.

[00:31:57] [SPEAKER_00]: What?

[00:31:57] [SPEAKER_00]: No.

[00:31:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Stupid decisions.

[00:32:01] [SPEAKER_00]: A different actor maybe could have saved or at least helped this role.

[00:32:05] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.

[00:32:06] [SPEAKER_00]: The movie itself was still, we've talked about that.

[00:32:10] [SPEAKER_00]: But I think the final nail in the coffin of this movie was just like whatever the

[00:32:14] [SPEAKER_00]: hell it was Mark Wahlberg was doing.

[00:32:17] [SPEAKER_03]: We've talked about how he was like Mark Wahlberg playing someone else playing a character.

[00:32:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:32:28] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, actually number three on my list is Mark Wahlberg and Elliot from The Happening

[00:32:36] [SPEAKER_03]: because you have to.

[00:32:40] [SPEAKER_03]: It has to happen.

[00:32:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay, so my number four.

[00:32:48] [SPEAKER_03]: I love this movie, but this character in the movie just was so to me really dumb.

[00:32:57] [SPEAKER_03]: And it's from The First Purge and no, it's not Skeletor.

[00:33:04] [SPEAKER_03]: It's capital A.

[00:33:07] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, he's an idiot.

[00:33:09] [SPEAKER_03]: He went to me.

[00:33:10] [SPEAKER_03]: There's no point to him being in this movie at all because he's trying to kill

[00:33:16] [SPEAKER_03]: the main guy despite being shut down.

[00:33:20] [SPEAKER_00]: Pointless because I really don't even remember.

[00:33:23] [SPEAKER_03]: So capital A was the guy in his crew, in the crew that went.

[00:33:32] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[00:33:35] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, so yeah, capital A.

[00:33:40] [SPEAKER_03]: Not Skeletor, which I know you don't have any love for Skeletor, but

[00:33:45] [SPEAKER_03]: I picked capital A in The First Purge because I couldn't pick Burt Gummer.

[00:33:52] [SPEAKER_00]: We'll know you couldn't because that's not what we're doing here.

[00:33:56] [SPEAKER_00]: We're not talking about the best characters who do that already, so we don't need.

[00:34:04] [SPEAKER_03]: You would have had, oh my gosh, your reaction if I had put anyone.

[00:34:08] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, if you legitimately had that on your list, I think this podcast would end at this

[00:34:12] [SPEAKER_00]: episode.

[00:34:15] [SPEAKER_00]: It's like, well, clearly we're not on the same page about movies, so we're done.

[00:34:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Not with the list of movies that we have to cover.

[00:34:24] [SPEAKER_03]: There is a character though from Tremors who is really annoying and bad,

[00:34:29] [SPEAKER_03]: but he didn't make my list.

[00:34:32] [SPEAKER_03]: There were others that were worse.

[00:34:35] [SPEAKER_00]: You just made the list.

[00:34:38] [SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't do that anymore anyway.

[00:34:41] [SPEAKER_03]: No, he doesn't.

[00:34:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Instead, he's a learning tree.

[00:34:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Which is working for me, strangely.

[00:34:49] [SPEAKER_03]: It's not working for me.

[00:34:51] [SPEAKER_03]: It's a no for me.

[00:34:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Number three, William from Final Girl, which hurts me not because of the character,

[00:35:04] [SPEAKER_00]: but because I really, really like Wes Bentley a lot.

[00:35:09] [SPEAKER_00]: He's great, which is the problem because it made me hate this character much more

[00:35:15] [SPEAKER_00]: because it makes me dislike watching Wes Bentley and I don't want to do that.

[00:35:19] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't like feeling that.

[00:35:21] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, funny enough, my number two.

[00:35:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Nice.

[00:35:27] [SPEAKER_00]: And again, I talked about it a little bit when we talked about Final Girl as the movie.

[00:35:31] [SPEAKER_00]: So a lot of the same reasons.

[00:35:32] [SPEAKER_00]: Again, just his reasoning for why he's doing what he's doing is so unknown.

[00:35:37] [SPEAKER_00]: But honestly, the core of it is he's just got such a creepy, inappropriate and predatory

[00:35:44] [SPEAKER_00]: relationship with this girl that he practically raised as his daughter.

[00:35:48] [SPEAKER_00]: I hate it.

[00:35:50] [SPEAKER_00]: It makes me super uncomf-cumpf and I'm moving on.

[00:35:55] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I also am a big fan of Wes Bentley and it was so just yuck to watch him in this movie.

[00:36:08] [SPEAKER_03]: Maybe that's the point.

[00:36:09] [SPEAKER_03]: Maybe that's what it was supposed to be, but no.

[00:36:14] [SPEAKER_03]: No, inappropriate waffles.

[00:36:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Mm-hmm.

[00:36:17] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, no.

[00:36:20] [SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, that's my number two.

[00:36:23] [SPEAKER_01]: All right.

[00:36:25] [SPEAKER_03]: So what's your number two?

[00:36:28] [SPEAKER_00]: All right, let's circle back to what you were just talking about.

[00:36:32] [SPEAKER_00]: First Purge, but this is the one that you're not going to play.

[00:36:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Skeletor.

[00:36:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Talked about it plenty when we covered that movie.

[00:36:42] [SPEAKER_00]: No, just no.

[00:36:44] [SPEAKER_00]: From the first second that we see this character, he's

[00:36:47] [SPEAKER_00]: way over the top and insane caricature of a villain who's just, to me, honestly more

[00:36:54] [SPEAKER_00]: annoying and cringy on screen than anything remotely near scary or menacing.

[00:37:00] [SPEAKER_00]: Like I don't know if it's the actor or what was given to him.

[00:37:03] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, but either way, it was just like, hey, what if I roll up all of the

[00:37:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Batman villains into one nonsensical character and then do all of those tropes poorly?

[00:37:14] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I'll give him one thing.

[00:37:15] [SPEAKER_00]: He's definitely memorable.

[00:37:17] [SPEAKER_00]: I'll give him that.

[00:37:19] [SPEAKER_00]: But for what?

[00:37:20] [SPEAKER_00]: To what end?

[00:37:23] [SPEAKER_03]: Yep, you are tearing my heart out.

[00:37:27] [SPEAKER_03]: You are.

[00:37:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Hey, this was your idea.

[00:37:32] [SPEAKER_03]: I know.

[00:37:33] [SPEAKER_00]: You signed up for this.

[00:37:35] [SPEAKER_03]: I did.

[00:37:37] [SPEAKER_03]: Man.

[00:37:39] [SPEAKER_03]: God.

[00:37:41] [SPEAKER_03]: That hurt.

[00:37:44] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, man.

[00:37:47] [SPEAKER_03]: So that brings us to number one and I know there's no doubt.

[00:37:50] [SPEAKER_03]: There is no doubt in my mind that we both have the same character listed.

[00:37:55] [SPEAKER_00]: See, because I started off on these.

[00:37:57] [SPEAKER_00]: We've both named all of ours.

[00:37:59] [SPEAKER_03]: We have.

[00:38:03] [SPEAKER_03]: My number five was Pilgrim Girl, four capital A, three Elliot, two William.

[00:38:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.

[00:38:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[00:38:10] [SPEAKER_00]: Robin.

[00:38:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Mark Wahlberg.

[00:38:14] [SPEAKER_00]: William Skeletor.

[00:38:15] [SPEAKER_00]: All right, so number one.

[00:38:19] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, yeah, it's the same for both of us.

[00:38:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Fucking Cory from Halloween Ends.

[00:38:25] [SPEAKER_00]: And again, I think I pretty much covered all of it in my rant of Halloween Ends earlier.

[00:38:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Do I need to repeat myself?

[00:38:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Just fuck Cory.

[00:38:34] [SPEAKER_00]: What a god-awful character that was the anchor on which this franchise quickly sank.

[00:38:41] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, really honestly, they could have wrapped an anchor around Michael Meyers and

[00:38:47] [SPEAKER_03]: sunk him to the bottom of a lake like they did Jason in one of the Friday the 13th

[00:38:52] [SPEAKER_03]: and it would have been a better ending and movie than what we got with this.

[00:38:57] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm so disappointed because being a person who grew up with Halloween,

[00:39:02] [SPEAKER_03]: the original Halloween and seeing what they did in 2018, having to deal with Cory and

[00:39:09] [SPEAKER_03]: Halloween Ends just, I feel like, have you ever seen Halloween, the original?

[00:39:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[00:39:18] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:39:18] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay.

[00:39:18] [SPEAKER_03]: I want to cover it sometime because I need to have something.

[00:39:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we'll need a palate cleanser.

[00:39:25] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, we do.

[00:39:26] [SPEAKER_03]: To get back to the essence of that franchise because oh my god.

[00:39:30] [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, it's just the existence of this character of Cory because it's literally like,

[00:39:35] [SPEAKER_00]: okay, how do we end a trilogy that's supposed to end a franchise of an iconic character of

[00:39:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Michael Meyers? How do we end and send Michael Meyers out with a big bang?

[00:39:48] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know. By sticking him in a sewer for the whole movie why this fucking dweeb

[00:39:52] [SPEAKER_00]: on a motorcycle takes all of the screen time and we don't care.

[00:39:57] [SPEAKER_03]: I would have rather like there been some like even bigger like Michael Meyers fuck you to Cory

[00:40:08] [SPEAKER_03]: and putting him in a wood chipper instead. Yeah, no. Nope. We get Cory. I mean,

[00:40:22] [SPEAKER_03]: it was in it honestly was further making Allison look stupid. I mean, yeah, absolutely.

[00:40:31] [SPEAKER_03]: And that made me mad because that was just further destroying a great strong woman character.

[00:40:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, she seemed like she's supposed to follow in the footsteps of Lori before this trilogy

[00:40:44] [SPEAKER_00]: even kind of ruined Lori. And it's just like, oh, she's going to be this like really

[00:40:48] [SPEAKER_00]: strong badass self, you know, propelled hero. And then instead of this whole movie she's

[00:40:57] [SPEAKER_00]: just like, oh, but he but daddy I love him. He's bad boy.

[00:41:04] [SPEAKER_03]: Fall for the bad boys. Yes. But I can change him. No, he's not even a bad boy. Like

[00:41:15] [SPEAKER_00]: he is but he isn't. He's just he's just the misunderstood loner who

[00:41:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, but kid and people hate him for I mean, it was on accident.

[00:41:28] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, but it's not even that it's the way he is and she sticks around with him.

[00:41:33] [SPEAKER_03]: I know. You know, it's like I'm all for giving someone a chance. But the way he is with her

[00:41:40] [SPEAKER_00]: but him. Yeah, it's like arrested development her.

[00:41:47] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, no. So yeah. Do you have any dishonorable mention characters?

[00:41:57] [SPEAKER_03]: Of course I do. Oh, God, it's gonna get worse.

[00:42:00] [SPEAKER_00]: And some of these are just like characters were harder as far as like I had pretty much just

[00:42:05] [SPEAKER_00]: what I had. I didn't have a lot of different characters because most characters like most

[00:42:10] [SPEAKER_00]: movies we cover like even the bad ones like have characters that are fun to watch. So these

[00:42:15] [SPEAKER_00]: are like very like side piece characters and some of these but going back to the happening

[00:42:21] [SPEAKER_00]: the old lady I think it's Mrs. Jones because again, why is the old lady?

[00:42:28] [SPEAKER_00]: Michael Myers himself in Halloween ends is a terrible caricature of the like

[00:42:33] [SPEAKER_00]: threat and monster and icon he was supposed to be.

[00:42:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Sonny from Moonfall, you know the main characters son that has his whole side quest with people

[00:42:45] [SPEAKER_00]: on the ground running around driving around in cars that literally that whole side plot I did

[00:42:50] [SPEAKER_00]: not care about. The chief from chud who just stands there and yells incoherently

[00:42:58] [SPEAKER_00]: uh which is kind of funny I guess and lastly going back to the Meg too with

[00:43:06] [SPEAKER_00]: the villain character of Montez who's just again I bet you forgot he was in that movie until I

[00:43:12] [SPEAKER_03]: even mentioned it. I did because you know what I was looking at Jess as being a terrible

[00:43:16] [SPEAKER_03]: character she's on my list for Meg to the trench as is Julian from the happening because

[00:43:26] [SPEAKER_03]: dumb leaving his daughter like

[00:43:31] [SPEAKER_03]: I also had Jim from the mist which pains me because I love William Sadler but that character

[00:43:38] [SPEAKER_03]: and the way that he twisted to be a follower and I couldn't stand it. It just was annoying.

[00:43:48] [SPEAKER_03]: Paul the evil man who feeds the dog to the snake in Snakes on a Plane.

[00:43:55] [SPEAKER_03]: I get why he was there but I just found him like annoying and just ugh.

[00:44:04] [SPEAKER_03]: The purser from the Poseidon adventure telling everyone to stay where they were

[00:44:09] [SPEAKER_00]: like yeah. Giving Robin that job everyone would have heard. Everyone would have heard yep.

[00:44:17] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah and that is my list. I should have put Melvin from Tremors one and three but I didn't.

[00:44:28] [SPEAKER_00]: No. I didn't. No. No. Melvin yeah Melvin's kind of a such a Melvin. But you met. But

[00:44:40] [SPEAKER_00]: I've met and talked with Robert Jane and he's such a sweet guy and I love him so much. So like

[00:44:46] [SPEAKER_00]: I couldn't do that to him. I can talk trash about Eric Shea because I've never met the man but no

[00:44:50] [SPEAKER_00]: not Robert. He's too sweet. I know him. I can't do that.

[00:45:00] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. So these are the I mean I feel like we have talked about the worst of the worst

[00:45:05] [SPEAKER_03]: of the worst. And I'm despite taking it and being broken hearted over some of your choices.

[00:45:18] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm glad that I came up with this one because it was fun to go through and talk and we laughed

[00:45:24] [SPEAKER_00]: so much. So yeah I think it was a cool idea. So yeah so here's to going forward and covering

[00:45:34] [SPEAKER_00]: bad movies still not being afraid of covering bad movies because it can still be fun.

[00:45:42] [SPEAKER_03]: What I like about this neither one of us put the legend of Boggy Creek on our list.

[00:45:48] [SPEAKER_00]: I thought about like I could have thrown in some of those characters but like

[00:45:51] [SPEAKER_00]: most of those weren't even actors they're just locals that got thrown into it and like

[00:45:57] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah yeah I can't beat on that so much. I don't want to break your dad's heart

[00:46:02] [SPEAKER_03]: because he really wanted us to cover that one.

[00:46:07] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah of course. Oh there goes the feedback phone maybe we got some

[00:46:14] [SPEAKER_00]: some listeners and friends might give us their thoughts on some of their least favorite

[00:46:19] [SPEAKER_03]: movie characters. Hopefully they don't break my heart even more.

[00:46:22] [SPEAKER_00]: All right we actually do have one piece of feedback this week for this one which yay

[00:46:27] [SPEAKER_00]: awesome. I'm glad somebody's letting us know their thoughts even before hearing

[00:46:32] [SPEAKER_00]: ours. Hopefully you guys really enjoyed our takes on some of the worst stuff.

[00:46:36] [SPEAKER_00]: You can still leave us feedback after the fact if you agree disagree or have any thoughts on

[00:46:40] [SPEAKER_00]: the lists that we had the things we said this episode but we do have one from Katherine here

[00:46:46] [SPEAKER_00]: because yeah it's Katherine and she's amazing and she's badass and she's going to keep

[00:46:49] [SPEAKER_00]: writing in. I love it thank you Katherine says this was really hard because I tend to enjoy

[00:46:54] [SPEAKER_00]: quote unquote bad movies. Fink's killing is perfection and I'm embarrassed how many

[00:46:59] [SPEAKER_00]: I've watched the happening. There were movies that I didn't enjoy much like Mad God and The

[00:47:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Tomorrow War and a few I didn't remember until I looked them up like Moonfall and Geostorm

[00:47:08] [SPEAKER_00]: but one movie did immediately jump to mind as being the absolute worst

[00:47:12] [SPEAKER_00]: The Monster. I really really really hated The Mother and if I ever rewatch I will probably

[00:47:18] [SPEAKER_00]: skip the abusive scenes but I remember the little girl and the woods creature were awesome

[00:47:22] [SPEAKER_00]: so perhaps it's worth a revisit. That is great feedback yeah that's one of those like we talked

[00:47:31] [SPEAKER_00]: about that in this episode of course you heard with like the happening and thanks killing like

[00:47:34] [SPEAKER_00]: you mentioned that like they're at that level where they're so bad that they're actually great

[00:47:39] [SPEAKER_00]: to watch sometimes so yeah I totally feel that but yeah The Monster I thought about bringing

[00:47:45] [SPEAKER_00]: that up. We didn't go into that route because I think overall it wasn't a bad movie. I don't

[00:47:52] [SPEAKER_00]: view it as a bad movie. It's a heavy movie. It is a hard watch and especially for any individuals

[00:47:59] [SPEAKER_00]: that have certain triggers or traumas that like that movie is rough for a lot of those

[00:48:05] [SPEAKER_00]: regards so I can totally see that like that's not one for everybody. Yeah definitely had

[00:48:09] [SPEAKER_03]: triggers and I think we were looking more at movies that were just bad less about

[00:48:18] [SPEAKER_03]: so bad they're good more about they're bad. Yeah but definitely thanks for bringing that

[00:48:24] [SPEAKER_00]: one up because that's another interesting one that I hadn't really thought about

[00:48:28] [SPEAKER_00]: too much other you know than when we covered it and then I said it was one of those I was

[00:48:32] [SPEAKER_00]: like it wasn't one of my favorite movies we covered by any means but it was but mainly a

[00:48:37] [SPEAKER_00]: lot of that was because of just like what the material the content and the heaviness

[00:48:43] [SPEAKER_03]: of that movie was. Yeah I do remember our discussion on it though and I think we had

[00:48:50] [SPEAKER_03]: a really good discussion like the what we talked about it was very deep and tragic

[00:48:58] [SPEAKER_03]: but the discussion was I think really good. We talked about some things that

[00:49:04] [SPEAKER_03]: maybe get glossed over in some of the other movies that we cover. Well if you'd like to

[00:49:11] [SPEAKER_03]: submit feedback you can find us on Facebook and Instagram at Run For Your Lives podcast.

[00:49:56] [SPEAKER_00]: and ratings and things like that go a long way for podcasts more than a lot of people realize

[00:50:02] [SPEAKER_00]: if you have those moments we do appreciate that a lot. But of course speaking about sharing the love

[00:50:07] [SPEAKER_00]: we gotta give some shout outs to things going on in the Podcastica universe around us.

[00:50:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Lots of great stuff going on here on Podcastica all kinds of fun stuff continuing on with Jason

[00:50:19] [SPEAKER_00]: and Lucy with their The Cast of Us The Walking Dead rewatch over there. This week they had

[00:50:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Kristen on to help cover season 3 episode 8 made to suffer so they are like halfway through season

[00:50:31] [SPEAKER_00]: 3 now on that rewatch continuing on lots of good Walking Dead stuff over there.

[00:50:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Also revisited speaking of Kristen Ben and Kristen talking about Ted Lasso in this week

[00:50:43] [SPEAKER_00]: series finale after this week they are done they have reached the end

[00:50:48] [SPEAKER_00]: so long farewell season 3 episode 12 of Ted Lasso. So yeah good place coming up next

[00:50:56] [SPEAKER_00]: but definitely go check out their series finale and end coverage of Ted Lasso over on the

[00:51:01] [SPEAKER_00]: revisited podcast. Also kind of an ending for now Cobra Kai cast with Jason, Rima,

[00:51:08] [SPEAKER_00]: and Richard they have finished this first section of Cobra Kai season 6 the final season

[00:51:14] [SPEAKER_00]: best of the best is the title of the episode because again Cobra Kai is releasing 5 episodes

[00:51:19] [SPEAKER_00]: now and then like the next 5 are in like November and then the final 5 are early next year.

[00:51:26] [SPEAKER_00]: So Cobra Kai done for now until the next little section of this season comes out in

[00:51:31] [SPEAKER_00]: a couple of months. This first third of the season has been really enjoyable Jason, Rima,

[00:51:37] [SPEAKER_00]: and Richard have done an incredible job with their coverage over there so make sure you
