[00:00:00] Hmm? Ah! Hmm.

[00:00:06] You're listening to the Run For Your Lives Podcast.

[00:00:33] Welcome to the show, I'm Daphne. And I'm Pake. And this is the Run For Your Lives Podcast.

[00:00:40] This episode is Episode 200, also the Season 8 finale, which means it is our 8th Look Back Special, Riffle Awards, whatever we're gonna do with that.

[00:00:56] Again, we've reached another end of a season, doing more awards, doing more conversation, look back, talking about a bunch of the different movies and episodes and characters and villains slash monsters slash threats of the season.

[00:01:09] And just kind of reminiscing on all the fun stuff of this season. And I'm excited. It's always a lot of fun to do these.

[00:01:16] It is. And I feel like it's extra special because this is Episode 200.

[00:01:22] Yeah.

[00:01:22] We started recording in July of 2020. And here we are at the end of the year. When this drops, it's going to be 2025. Yeah.

[00:01:37] So it's really exciting to even just think about when we started the podcast and where we're at now. But even just this season, what we have covered for episodes and

[00:01:52] we've already got some things, you know, that we've tossed around for next season. So we'll be working on those and you know that we'll take our usual break. But we will be back and we'll be bringing more fun, scary episodes to you.

[00:02:11] Yeah. This has been quite an interesting season from vampires to zombies to aliens. I did a little kind of statistical stuff, which is just kind of spitballing on stuff because I was trying to remember exactly like plots. Splinter was the one that kind of hung up on me. I'm trying to remember Splinter. Was it an alien thing? Did it come from space? Was that part of the story? I don't remember.

[00:02:33] I don't think so.

[00:03:03] Or five, I guess if you count Splinter and that, that have to do with some kind of zombie or somebody being kind of overtaken and becoming a brainless like husk with something else controlling it. Five of those movies. And a whopping six alien movies this season.

[00:03:21] Oh my goodness.

[00:03:23] And then I was like, or seven if Splinter counts, but I don't remember. But even without that, six that are aliens.

[00:03:33] Which seems like a lot of alien movies in one season, but we did six of them.

[00:03:37] Maybe we should stay away from them next season.

[00:03:40] Nah, we like, whatever works.

[00:03:44] Yeah.

[00:03:45] But yeah, I just thought that when I was going over the list and writing out my, you know, kind of nominations and stuff, I was like, how many of these genres or types were popping up regularly?

[00:03:58] And I was like, vampires.

[00:03:59] Even though there was only two, but like, out of what I liked, I was like, vampires, zombies, and aliens was the big thing this season.

[00:04:05] Evidently. And I've already got some creature features for next season that are already on the list. So yeah, not enough creature, creature movies, but aliens kind of are fit that too, I guess. I don't know. We'll see how it all pans out.

[00:04:27] I don't know about you, but I had a harder time. This time.

[00:04:33] Eh, I don't think I did as much. I think I was able to pick a lot of my nominations pretty easily. Honestly, I think the hardest thing I had was side characters just because there wasn't enough for me to pick from a little bit.

[00:04:49] Yeah. But I came up with some fun ones.

[00:04:51] Yeah. I've got a few, I think, that are pretty good. We'll see. I mean, the hard part is sometimes the side characters could also be like a second lead character. And so I had trouble with that.

[00:05:05] Yeah. Because again, I think we talked about this last season where that differential, because I give the main character slot to multiple, there can be multiple main characters in a movie.

[00:05:15] Yeah.

[00:05:17] Yeah. And there are in some cases.

[00:05:19] Yeah.

[00:05:20] So, yeah, I think it's going to be interesting. And I'm dying to know what you have picked. Because now that we do it as the Riffle Awards, we don't talk about it ahead of time. We used to talk about it.

[00:05:34] Yeah. And even in the order that I'm going to go over them isn't going to be like a 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, like, at least to my best.

[00:05:40] I'm ordering them and I will reveal them in chronological order as we covered those movies or characters or whatever in the season. So.

[00:05:49] Yeah. So, which one do you want to do first?

[00:05:55] I think I like, I'm looking at the doc that you sent that I'm looking at here. And I think that works pretty well if we start supporting characters.

[00:06:06] Okay.

[00:06:06] Then do main characters.

[00:06:08] Okay.

[00:06:08] Then do threats, movies, and then end with episode.

[00:06:11] Okay.

[00:06:11] I think that's fun.

[00:06:12] All right. Then we will start with our supporting character. And who wants to go first with that?

[00:06:20] I'd say let's flip a coin for it. But oh, I do have a coin.

[00:06:23] You do have a coin.

[00:06:24] Yeah. I've got a quarter right here. So you just call it.

[00:06:27] All right. Heads.

[00:06:29] Oh, I dropped it on the floor. No, I didn't. Okay, we're good. And it is tails. So I'll go first.

[00:06:33] Awesome.

[00:06:34] All right.

[00:06:35] You know that I'll go first on the next round. So.

[00:06:39] Yeah.

[00:06:39] This just starts us off here.

[00:06:41] All right. I'm going to kick this off with Raul from Wendell and Wild.

[00:06:51] Really?

[00:06:52] Yes. Which is one of the other students at this school that Kat is a part of. And I definitely wanted to include him because not only just in a movie in general and a movie that we cover, but especially as an animated movie and a sort of family-friendly movie, even though I think we kept the family-friendly filter off when we covered that one for ourselves.

[00:07:14] But having a transgender character be such an important role in a movie was really cool and really important. And also Raul was just badass and amazing and helped out a lot with a lot of things.

[00:07:26] Oh, absolutely. I have to say I did not have Raul, but I think that he's a solid. That's great. Good job.

[00:07:39] So my first one is Rebecca Quincy from Renfield, played by the amazing Awkwafina.

[00:07:54] I just thought she was a fantastic character and I appreciated what she brought to that movie in her role.

[00:08:03] My next one, I'm going into the world of the movie Abigail.

[00:08:09] Talk about the character of Peter is getting my nomination because Kevin Durand is incredible and hilarious in this role.

[00:08:21] He was just so much fun.

[00:08:23] He had some great lines, some great moments, and I enjoy him in most anything I see him in, but especially that role that was just a lot of fun.

[00:08:32] I love Kevin Durand also.

[00:08:34] I did not pick him, but I somehow overlooked him.

[00:08:40] But I loved him in that movie, and I just finished rewatching The Strain not that long ago, and he was so good in that series.

[00:08:51] Yeah.

[00:08:52] Okay, so my next one is Morad, played by the amazing Karen Sony from Office Uprising.

[00:09:06] Yeah.

[00:09:07] He's so much fun, right?

[00:09:09] He is one of my honorable mentions, so he's on A-list somewhere.

[00:09:13] Also, so was Rebecca.

[00:09:15] So two of yours have been at least in my honorable mentions.

[00:09:19] The next one, a non-human side character, but gotta give some love to Frodo the cat from A Quiet Place Day One.

[00:09:29] Oh my goodness.

[00:09:32] I love that cat.

[00:09:34] Yes.

[00:09:35] And-

[00:09:35] What a good, quiet cat.

[00:09:37] I love that cat.

[00:09:40] And I actually have him on my list.

[00:09:45] Nice.

[00:09:46] Yes.

[00:09:46] I figured that might be your first crossover.

[00:09:50] I love that cat.

[00:09:51] Oh my god, that cat was amazing.

[00:09:53] My next one is Dennis Shea Wiggum from Splinter.

[00:10:01] Mm-hmm.

[00:10:02] Had to have him on this list because he started out as this character that you did not think you could find any redeeming qualities for.

[00:10:13] And in the end, made an ultimate sacrifice.

[00:10:20] And I just thought he added so much to Splinter that I had to put him on the list.

[00:10:27] My next one is a character that didn't exist.

[00:10:32] But I loved her anyway.

[00:10:33] She was a ride or die, even if it was all a farce.

[00:10:38] Gemma from Smile 2.

[00:10:39] Because even though she was all just part of the illusion, still think while we were bought into it, what a great just part of those scenes.

[00:10:51] Oh my gosh.

[00:10:52] You're right, though.

[00:10:53] You're right.

[00:10:54] I think.

[00:10:55] So this is my last one.

[00:10:58] This one for me, Arlo Chenoweth from Teacup.

[00:11:05] Nice.

[00:11:06] Yep, I thought about him as a possibility.

[00:11:10] There were so many, honestly.

[00:11:12] The character was great.

[00:11:13] A lot of it was just like how impressed I was with the kid playing.

[00:11:18] I was like, oh my god.

[00:11:20] Yeah.

[00:11:20] But yeah, it's a good choice for sure.

[00:11:23] My last nominee is just because I'm a sucker for anything Ben Schwartz.

[00:11:30] I knew it.

[00:11:31] We're going back to Renfield.

[00:11:32] I knew it.

[00:11:32] Teddy Lobo.

[00:11:35] You know, we got to do it.

[00:11:37] Oh, of course.

[00:11:39] So just anytime Ben Schwartz is on my screen, I'm happy.

[00:11:43] I knew it.

[00:11:46] I knew it.

[00:11:47] I knew you were going to do that.

[00:11:48] I just had a feeling.

[00:11:49] It's like, yep, he's going to do that.

[00:11:52] So we had only a little bit of overlap with characters that we had, like, were part of your honorable mention.

[00:12:03] The only one we had a crossover is Frodo the Cat.

[00:12:07] And I feel like rules is rules, right?

[00:12:10] Like, if it's the one crossover, then it feels like fate.

[00:12:16] I can't think of a reason not to go with Frodo.

[00:12:20] Right.

[00:12:21] Okay.

[00:12:23] So that is the winner for side character.

[00:12:29] Easy enough.

[00:12:31] So do you have some honorable mentions?

[00:12:33] Because I have a couple.

[00:12:34] Yeah.

[00:12:34] So I'll go over.

[00:12:35] I had five honorable mentions as well for each one, except for main character, which we'll get to next.

[00:12:41] I had to throw in a sixth one.

[00:12:44] But, yeah, so mine, just to go over real quick, Morad from Office Uprising and Rebecca from Renfield, since you mentioned those.

[00:12:53] Also, Chocolate Chip Charlie from The Stuff.

[00:12:55] Oh, yeah.

[00:12:57] Gets a nod.

[00:12:58] He was a lot of fun.

[00:13:01] Strangely enough, I'm surprising myself with it, Scuba from Thanksgiving.

[00:13:05] I think it was just, like, his backstory and then him really kind of stepping up at some point.

[00:13:09] So I was like, okay, cool.

[00:13:11] And then lastly, it's just because of Edie Patterson.

[00:13:14] Ava Lightstone from Violent Night.

[00:13:18] She's a terrible person.

[00:13:19] But anything Edie Patterson does, again, is just on board and I'm going to be entertained.

[00:13:25] Mm-hmm.

[00:13:27] Okay.

[00:13:27] Okay.

[00:13:28] So, my two that I have, Dr. Loomis, aka Donald Pleasence from Halloween, and Lyle Tibbet, aka John McGarrow from Overlord.

[00:13:43] And I could have picked a couple from Overlord for that.

[00:13:46] Yeah.

[00:13:46] Because there was a lot of opportunity for additional characters to be picked, but that's where I ended up.

[00:13:55] So, now we're going to main character, which the first one I'm going to give you is not going to be a surprise.

[00:14:06] Samira, aka Sam, played by the amazing Lupita Nyong'o from A Quiet Place, day one.

[00:14:16] I didn't even think of her.

[00:14:18] She would never be on my list, of course.

[00:14:20] No, she's definitely one of mine as well.

[00:14:21] Uh-huh.

[00:14:23] Easily.

[00:14:23] Uh-huh.

[00:14:23] I think my – I know these are supposed to be unranked, but no, she was clearly number one for me.

[00:14:30] I think out of all of them.

[00:14:31] But I'm going to give the other four in my list just as equal of possibility.

[00:14:35] We'll talk about them.

[00:14:36] Because we may end up with the same ones.

[00:14:39] Like, it might be more of a thing.

[00:14:43] Yeah.

[00:14:44] So, I've got some – a couple of the titular characters.

[00:14:49] Anyway, we'll get to those.

[00:14:50] But first, another actor that I'm always just happy to see on my screen, no matter what they're doing, Jeremy Renner.

[00:14:59] Got to talk about Doyle from 28 Weeks Later.

[00:15:02] Oh, I overlooked him.

[00:15:05] Because I think that was my first time – that was my introduction to Jeremy Renner was that movie, I believe.

[00:15:10] I think I talked about that when we covered it.

[00:15:14] And just still holds up as him just being an incredibly badass individual.

[00:15:18] Absolutely.

[00:15:19] Absolutely.

[00:15:20] Definitely stood out in that movie.

[00:15:22] And he wasn't taking no for an answer when it came to things.

[00:15:26] I appreciated that so much.

[00:15:30] Okay.

[00:15:31] So, my next one.

[00:15:35] I have a feeling – I don't know.

[00:15:37] Maybe you won't.

[00:15:38] Or maybe you will.

[00:15:39] I'm not sure.

[00:15:41] Brynn Adams.

[00:15:43] Played by Caitlin Deaver from No One Will Save You.

[00:15:47] Yes.

[00:15:48] She's an honorable mention on my list.

[00:15:51] And again, not necessarily – I don't know.

[00:15:53] That one was an interesting one.

[00:15:54] Why she made honorable mention and not full list.

[00:15:58] Interesting character for sure.

[00:16:00] But I think just it was the way that Caitlin Deaver played the character that made it very interesting to me to want to include.

[00:16:05] But as far as the character herself, there's a lot of flaw.

[00:16:07] Which is not a bad thing.

[00:16:08] But it's like –

[00:16:09] True.

[00:16:10] Holding up on like, which characters do I think are just really great versus – you know.

[00:16:14] Yeah.

[00:16:16] Next one I'll include, as I mentioned, titular characters from the movie Abigail.

[00:16:23] Abigail.

[00:16:23] Oh, my God.

[00:16:24] You really did it?

[00:16:26] Like Alicia Weir?

[00:16:27] I did.

[00:16:27] Oh, my God.

[00:16:28] Absolutely.

[00:16:28] Because guess what?

[00:16:29] Absolutely.

[00:16:29] She's on my list too.

[00:16:31] Yeah.

[00:16:33] She was amazing.

[00:16:34] Loved her.

[00:16:35] I'm like, I don't care.

[00:16:36] She's not the threat in that movie.

[00:16:38] She is – she's a main character.

[00:16:41] Absolutely.

[00:16:42] Yeah.

[00:16:43] For sure.

[00:16:44] Oh, my gosh.

[00:16:45] We're agreeing on things more than I expected.

[00:16:49] So I'm really excited about that.

[00:16:53] The next one I'm going to pick could have probably looked like it was a side character, but I put him as a main character.

[00:17:01] And that's Tyler Owens played by Glenn Powell from Twisters.

[00:17:07] Another honorable mention for me.

[00:17:10] Could have been a main up there, but –

[00:17:13] Okay.

[00:17:14] A lot of good ones.

[00:17:15] But yeah, no, definitely another honorable mention you're pulling from.

[00:17:18] All right.

[00:17:18] My next one, another titular character from Renfield.

[00:17:23] Renfield.

[00:17:24] Nicholas Holt.

[00:17:24] Got it.

[00:17:25] Yep.

[00:17:26] Yep.

[00:17:27] That is mine also.

[00:17:31] A little bit more crossover over here, which makes it a little harder when there's not just one definitive crossover.

[00:17:36] And that's all of mine.

[00:17:38] All right.

[00:17:38] Well, I have one more then, which is just from last week.

[00:17:43] Santa Claus.

[00:17:44] It's Christmas while we're recording this.

[00:17:46] Oh, my goodness.

[00:17:47] So, Santa from Violent Night.

[00:17:49] David Harbour's badass, kick-ass Santa ready to throw down and take names off his list.

[00:17:59] Taking names off the list.

[00:18:02] Mm-hmm.

[00:18:03] Okay, so this leaves us with the following.

[00:18:09] Sam from A Quiet Place Day One.

[00:18:13] Mm-hmm.

[00:18:14] Renfield from Renfield.

[00:18:17] And Abigail from Abigail.

[00:18:20] Well, I'm going to go – my gut, you know, off-the-hip shot choice is going to be Sam, because as I said, that's number one.

[00:18:29] And it's – like I've said with a couple actors already, it's like – I mean, you give me Lupita Nyong'o, I give you a big resounding yes.

[00:18:40] The end.

[00:18:41] Yeah.

[00:18:43] I'm always looking for whatever movie she's doing to see if it's going to fit in Run for Your Lives.

[00:18:49] Now, do we hand the first two awards to a duo from the same movie and just have Sam and Frodo together?

[00:18:57] And it's not Lord of the Rings.

[00:19:02] But –

[00:19:03] But I don't know.

[00:19:04] Maybe.

[00:19:04] Do we?

[00:19:05] Because she is great.

[00:19:06] She is.

[00:19:07] Maybe it'll just be A Quiet Place Day One sweep this year – or this season.

[00:19:12] Who knows?

[00:19:13] You know what?

[00:19:13] It's got to be Sam.

[00:19:14] I'm good with it.

[00:19:15] It's going to be Sam.

[00:19:16] It's going to be Sam.

[00:19:18] I almost did.

[00:19:19] Me too.

[00:19:22] You know, it takes a lot to beat you to something.

[00:19:26] Mm-hmm.

[00:19:28] So what do you have for honorable mentions?

[00:19:30] Yeah, I'll run through those.

[00:19:32] Let's see.

[00:19:33] First one, Kat from Wendelin Wild.

[00:19:36] Me too.

[00:19:37] Definitely gets an honorable mention.

[00:19:39] She was fun.

[00:19:40] Brandon Breyer from Brightburn.

[00:19:43] Gets an honorable mention.

[00:19:45] Was also the main threat of that movie, but also like a main character as well.

[00:19:51] Definitely focused on him and his journey.

[00:19:55] Said Tyler Owens from Twisters.

[00:19:56] Brynn from No One Will Save You.

[00:19:58] Uh, Meryl Hess from Signs.

[00:20:02] Joaquin Phoenix.

[00:20:06] Yes.

[00:20:07] Meryl was great.

[00:20:08] Um, and then Eric, Joseph Quinn's character from A Quiet Place Day One as well.

[00:20:16] That is, I also had him as an honorable mention.

[00:20:20] As well as Maggie Chenoweth, Avon Strahovski from Teacup.

[00:20:25] Mm-hmm.

[00:20:27] Excuse me, Dante, for your second appearance.

[00:20:31] Um, uh, Laurie Strode, Jamie Lee Curtis from Halloween.

[00:20:37] I already mentioned or mentioned when you did Kat Elliot from Wendelin Wild.

[00:20:44] Uh, Skye Riley from Smile 2.

[00:20:47] And Elizabeth Sparkle from The Substance.

[00:20:51] Next on the list, we have Favorite Threat.

[00:20:56] Yeah.

[00:20:57] I will kick this one off.

[00:21:00] Yes.

[00:21:01] And I'm gonna start with the infected, as we called them, I think, in the first movie as well.

[00:21:10] So Ben doesn't track us down and murder us in our sleep from 28 weeks later.

[00:21:18] You mean the Rage Virus people?

[00:21:20] Because that's what I always call them.

[00:21:23] Yeah.

[00:21:23] Um, that's also on my list.

[00:21:26] So, my first pick is Brandon Breyer from Brightburn as Threat because he was quite a threat.

[00:21:34] Oh yeah, absolutely.

[00:21:36] I mean-

[00:21:36] Like I just said earlier, like, yeah, I had him as like a main character, but he's also

[00:21:40] definitely a main threat.

[00:21:42] And by-

[00:21:43] He made honorable mention for main character.

[00:21:45] He made five nominees list in Threat for me as well.

[00:21:49] Okay.

[00:21:49] All right.

[00:21:50] Well-

[00:21:50] That is a terrifying young man.

[00:21:53] So, we're two for two so far, basically, is what you're telling me?

[00:21:58] Okay.

[00:21:59] 28 weeks and then Brandon, yep.

[00:22:01] Okay.

[00:22:02] Uh, so my next one, are we going for a clean sweep?

[00:22:04] I don't know.

[00:22:05] But we've got to talk about the alien creatures from A Quiet Place Day 1.

[00:22:09] They're in there.

[00:22:10] Are they?

[00:22:12] Are they there?

[00:22:13] Yes, they are.

[00:22:15] Absolutely.

[00:22:18] Especially with Day 1, seeing like the real big takeover.

[00:22:23] Because with A Quiet Place and Parts 1 and 2, it's kind of after the effects and everything.

[00:22:29] So, you see them sparsely pop up here and there and you get more of them towards the

[00:22:33] ends of those movies.

[00:22:34] But with this one, it's just like, oh, immediately we know what we're expecting.

[00:22:37] We get a billion of them and then we get some major close-ups we hadn't gotten.

[00:22:40] Oh, yeah.

[00:22:41] We're just like, just made them even scarier.

[00:22:44] So, they continue to be on this list.

[00:22:48] My next one is Michael Myers from Halloween.

[00:22:52] And I had to do this because he was so wronged with that trio of movies that, or at least the

[00:23:02] last two of those, like, reboot movies, that I had to give him some credit in this one.

[00:23:09] Some sense of redemption.

[00:23:12] Yes, because it was horrible.

[00:23:14] It was horrible what happened to him.

[00:23:17] Well, from one group of aliens to another, mine is just the aliens from No One Will Save You.

[00:23:27] Very much like a classic Greys kind of alien.

[00:23:30] Mm-hmm.

[00:23:31] That, but like the telekinetic powers and the stuff, there are some moments in that movie

[00:23:36] where they are terrifying.

[00:23:39] Especially when you get close to the end where they start elongating and getting bigger and

[00:23:43] getting more jagged and creepy limbs and, whew, there's some great alien stuff in that one

[00:23:48] and they're amazing.

[00:23:50] Definitely.

[00:23:50] And that's on my honorable mention list.

[00:23:54] For sure.

[00:23:56] Okay.

[00:23:56] So, my last one is the Smile Monster from Smile 2.

[00:24:03] Mm-hmm.

[00:24:05] And then my last, going back to Renfield because Nicolas Cage gives you one hell of a performance

[00:24:10] as Dracula.

[00:24:11] I knew it.

[00:24:15] Yep.

[00:24:16] I had a feeling.

[00:24:18] Mm-hmm.

[00:24:18] Okay.

[00:24:19] So, we have three that are the same, like we both are on board with.

[00:24:30] The aliens from A Quiet Place Day 1, Brandon Breyer from Brightburn, and the Rage Virus,

[00:24:39] aka The Infected, from 28 Weeks Later.

[00:24:43] Mm-hmm.

[00:24:45] So, again, now it's just kind of the joke.

[00:24:47] It's like, eh, quiet place, clean, clean, sweet, but I don't know.

[00:24:51] Maybe.

[00:24:52] They're-

[00:24:53] They're really good, right?

[00:24:55] They are great.

[00:24:58] There's some really great 28 Weeks stuff.

[00:25:00] I mean, if you count, like, Don.

[00:25:03] Yeah, I'm-

[00:25:04] You're not going to be like, I don't know.

[00:25:11] Like, you're going to be like, I don't know.

[00:25:19] I don't know.

[00:25:24] I don't know.

[00:25:27] I don't know.

[00:25:30] I don't know.

[00:25:32] I don't know.

[00:25:45] I don't know.

[00:25:46] I don't know.

[00:25:50] I don't know.

[00:25:59] Don into account.

[00:26:01] Yeah.

[00:26:01] But then also, there's a part of me that's like, but it's kind of a funny bit if we just

[00:26:05] keep clean sweeping everything, quiet place.

[00:26:10] Yeah, but is it funny?

[00:26:12] I mean, we're a horror movie podcast.

[00:26:14] If it was Buffalo, Buffalo, it'd be a great bit.

[00:26:18] It'd be a great bit.

[00:26:19] This isn't Buffalo, Buffalo.

[00:26:21] This is Run for Your Lives.

[00:26:23] I like the aliens from a quiet place day one also.

[00:26:28] But that franchise as a whole has a place in my heart.

[00:26:33] The 28 days, 28 weeks, and soon 28 years.

[00:26:38] So-

[00:26:39] And then very soon after that is what, Bone Temple?

[00:26:42] Something like that?

[00:26:43] Yeah.

[00:26:43] The sequel to 28 years is coming out in like January of 2026.

[00:26:50] Right.

[00:26:50] So it's coming.

[00:26:51] Like right around the corner.

[00:26:53] Because I think they filmed them back to back.

[00:26:55] Okay.

[00:26:56] My vote is for 28 weeks later.

[00:26:59] Yeah, I'm good with that.

[00:27:01] All right.

[00:27:02] That is awesome.

[00:27:03] All right.

[00:27:04] So honorable mentions for threats.

[00:27:07] I guess I've always just been going first on these for whatever reason, and I'm good

[00:27:10] with that.

[00:27:12] Um, I have the stuffies from The Stuff.

[00:27:18] Uh, these stuff zombies.

[00:27:21] Um, going back to Abigail again, Dan Stevens as Frank.

[00:27:27] Oh, so good.

[00:27:28] Especially once he goes full vampire mode at the end.

[00:27:31] Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.

[00:27:32] I'm going to Overlord with, uh, Pilo Azbeck's Wavner.

[00:27:38] Yes, that's on my honorable mentions as well.

[00:27:41] Yes.

[00:27:42] The unnamed Splinter monster from Splinter.

[00:27:46] What's going on there?

[00:27:48] And then got to give, again, just go back to last week, but got to give him some John

[00:27:53] Leguizamo love for Scrooge.

[00:27:55] Absolutely.

[00:27:56] I have Adam Nussbaum from Office Uprising.

[00:28:01] Mm-hmm.

[00:28:02] Assassin from Teacup.

[00:28:04] Yeah.

[00:28:04] The substance from The Substance.

[00:28:08] Or is it, I can't remember the name of the creature that was at the end when we had-

[00:28:14] Eliza Sue.

[00:28:15] Eliza Sue from The Substance.

[00:28:17] Mm-hmm.

[00:28:18] Sheriff Eric Newton from Thanksgiving.

[00:28:21] The pool from Nightswim.

[00:28:24] And those are mine.

[00:28:26] Nice.

[00:28:27] All right.

[00:28:27] All right.

[00:28:28] That leaves us with two left.

[00:28:32] Yeah.

[00:28:33] Can you believe it?

[00:28:35] I can, because we've been doing the same categories for a while.

[00:28:40] And they're great every time.

[00:28:41] Okay.

[00:28:44] Movie next, huh?

[00:28:45] Yep.

[00:28:46] And I go first.

[00:28:48] All right.

[00:28:49] First one I'm going to present is A Quiet Place Day One.

[00:28:53] Strangely enough, even though the whole clean sweep joke, it's not in my official life.

[00:28:57] It's an honorable mention.

[00:28:58] Okay.

[00:28:59] But I think we even talked about it, we covered it.

[00:29:01] As fun as it was, and we talked about a lot of that, I think comparatively to the

[00:29:05] first two movies, it's maybe not on the exact same par.

[00:29:08] As much as I love Joseph Quinn and Lupita Nyong'o, and there was some great story and stuff

[00:29:12] to it.

[00:29:12] Oh, yeah.

[00:29:13] Yeah.

[00:29:15] My first one, again, this is going chronologically, so we're going to start very early on in the

[00:29:20] season, 28 weeks later.

[00:29:24] That is great.

[00:29:28] That was also on my list.

[00:29:31] My next one is Abigail.

[00:29:36] Same.

[00:29:36] That's my next one.

[00:29:39] Yep, that would be my next.

[00:29:40] And so I'll skip.

[00:29:42] That's on there.

[00:29:43] Yeah, we'll cross over and then I'll skip over to my next on my list, which a long,

[00:29:47] long, long awaited sequel that had no business being as good as it was.

[00:29:51] Twisters.

[00:29:53] That is also on my list.

[00:29:55] Yeah.

[00:29:58] Just so good.

[00:29:59] Oh my gosh.

[00:29:59] So good.

[00:30:00] Okay.

[00:30:01] But I only have one left.

[00:30:04] And that one is as disturbing as it was.

[00:30:11] I picked the substance.

[00:30:14] All right.

[00:30:14] Interesting.

[00:30:16] I'm probably not ever going to watch it again.

[00:30:20] Right.

[00:30:20] Which is why it's not on mine is a big factor of favorite movie on here.

[00:30:26] Now, sometimes there are ones that hit me that hard, even if I won't go back again, too.

[00:30:32] But a lot of them, I kind of, when ranking them and picking which ones, is the rewatchability

[00:30:36] of being like, if I was going to show this movie to somebody or if I needed something to

[00:30:40] watch and I only had these ones to pick from, which one would I just throw on again?

[00:30:44] This usually is a favorite movie.

[00:30:46] Yeah.

[00:30:46] Kind of thing.

[00:30:48] I think for me, it has to do with the messaging, the whole part of it.

[00:30:53] And I connected with that, with the messaging about women, you know, as a woman, the quest

[00:31:03] for being beautiful and the constant scrutiny and being held to a different standard.

[00:31:10] And so that really resonated with me.

[00:31:14] So Peg, what's your last one?

[00:31:16] I have two more.

[00:31:17] You have two more.

[00:31:19] Did you miss one or is it like...

[00:31:22] No, wait.

[00:31:22] I've got...

[00:31:23] No?

[00:31:24] One, two, three.

[00:31:25] Okay.

[00:31:25] Yeah, because I have two.

[00:31:27] I have Renfield, which I just really enjoyed.

[00:31:32] Good old time.

[00:31:35] And then honestly, again, just very fresh on the mind and maybe because it's Christmas.

[00:31:40] But yeah, Violent Night is a new Christmas classic.

[00:31:45] It really is.

[00:31:46] I mean, Santa as an action hero is the thing that stands out to me.

[00:31:52] Yes.

[00:31:52] It's one I'm going to have to watch.

[00:31:54] In fact, it's really the only Christmas movie I watched.

[00:31:58] I didn't watch anything else.

[00:32:00] And Christmas is over.

[00:32:03] So, yeah.

[00:32:04] Yeah.

[00:32:05] Yeah, I checked out that Dear Santa movie because it has the kid who plays Neil in Skeleton Crew.

[00:32:10] And I love Neil so much.

[00:32:11] Neil Nation.

[00:32:14] But yeah, that movie just...

[00:32:15] It was a great cast with him and Jack Black and Keegan-Michael Key and so many other great people.

[00:32:20] And it just fell flat for me.

[00:32:21] I didn't really care for it that much.

[00:32:24] Unfortunately.

[00:32:25] I'm glad that we went through with Violent Night.

[00:32:30] Of course.

[00:32:31] Yeah.

[00:32:32] Okay.

[00:32:32] So, that leaves us with 28 Weeks Later, Abigail and Twisters.

[00:32:40] Three very different movies.

[00:32:43] Very different.

[00:32:44] Yeah.

[00:32:44] My heart is going to one that has gotten some love in our discussion but hasn't won anything yet.

[00:32:59] Okay.

[00:32:59] So, I know where you're going with that.

[00:33:00] And then my heart, I think, is going in a different direction.

[00:33:04] Excellent.

[00:33:05] What is your heart to think?

[00:33:06] You're going with Twisters.

[00:33:08] Twisters.

[00:33:08] My heart is down here with Tex's born and bred boy, Glenn Powell, with Twisters.

[00:33:15] It is.

[00:33:18] And my heart is with Abigail.

[00:33:21] Yeah.

[00:33:22] Because it's...

[00:33:24] It shouldn't have been as good as it was.

[00:33:27] Well, it's the same people who did Ready or Not.

[00:33:29] I know.

[00:33:30] I know.

[00:33:31] Of course it was going to be that good.

[00:33:32] I know.

[00:33:33] But it didn't get as much love, I guess, as I was expecting for it to get.

[00:33:37] But, too.

[00:33:38] Mm-hmm.

[00:33:39] So.

[00:33:41] Okay.

[00:33:45] Twisters it is.

[00:33:47] All right.

[00:33:50] I'll take it.

[00:33:52] I...

[00:33:52] Again, I think it's...

[00:33:53] I really did love Abigail.

[00:33:57] Because...

[00:33:58] Great, gory horror mixed with the incredible comedy and timing of...

[00:34:06] I mean, what those directors are going to do.

[00:34:08] It's so good.

[00:34:09] Right?

[00:34:11] But...

[00:34:11] But, yeah.

[00:34:12] But I think, like I said about Twisters, is just because it was such a long-awaited thing.

[00:34:15] We covered Twister back in season one.

[00:34:19] And we were talking about how this movie was likely to happen before they'd even started pre-production on it.

[00:34:25] And to have followed it all the way down this line and to have it made and to be like, oh, is it going to be a nostalgia grab?

[00:34:31] And then, at least for me, to go into the theater and see it and go, oh, no, this is actually incredible.

[00:34:39] Yeah.

[00:34:40] Yeah.

[00:34:41] I'm good with it.

[00:34:43] Awesome.

[00:34:44] Perfect.

[00:34:45] Twister's movie of the season.

[00:34:47] I wouldn't have thought so, but then it makes sense now we're here.

[00:34:49] It does, right?

[00:34:51] So, I only had two honorable mentions.

[00:34:55] Smile 2 and No One Will Save You.

[00:34:59] Yeah.

[00:34:59] Mine, The Stuff.

[00:35:01] I can't believe you really, like, enjoy The Stuff because you've brought up things from The Stuff a couple of times already.

[00:35:10] So, it's cool.

[00:35:11] Wendell and Wilde was great.

[00:35:13] Oh, my gosh.

[00:35:14] Yeah.

[00:35:14] I always love throwing in a good, like, animation, stop motion kind of stuff from time to time.

[00:35:19] Quiet Place Day 1 got the honorable mention for sure.

[00:35:23] Brightburn honorable mention.

[00:35:25] It's always a fun one that was good to go back to.

[00:35:27] And then No One Will Save You also on that list because, again, just the uniqueness of that movie and what it was.

[00:35:33] Yeah.

[00:35:34] They had a concept and they didn't deviate.

[00:35:37] They kept going.

[00:35:38] They focused on it and they followed it through to the end.

[00:35:41] Yeah.

[00:35:41] And I appreciated that a lot.

[00:35:43] Okay.

[00:35:44] That brings us to the final category.

[00:35:47] Episode.

[00:35:49] Favorite episode.

[00:35:50] Which, again, not necessarily the movie, but the conversation that it brought about, the just enjoyment of recording.

[00:36:00] Sometimes the situation if it's a special kind of episode or if we had special guests and different things that can build into that.

[00:36:07] Absolutely.

[00:36:08] So, what do you have up first?

[00:36:10] First one, The Stuff.

[00:36:14] Because it was a meeting of Buffalo Buffalo before Buffalo Buffalo really kicked off.

[00:36:21] Yeah.

[00:36:22] We had been recording, but we hadn't released anything yet.

[00:36:26] Yeah.

[00:36:26] So, having Jeff and Jerry on here to talk about a movie and to drive you crazy by eating marshmallow fluff on camera that did nothing for the audience, the listeners, but drove you crazy so it was worth it.

[00:36:41] Setting the tone of what Buffalo Buffalo was truly meant to be at the heart.

[00:36:46] Terrorizing Daphne.

[00:36:47] Absolutely.

[00:36:48] Yeah.

[00:36:50] A number one, that's what's going to happen on Buffalo Buffalo.

[00:36:55] Can we do it?

[00:36:58] Yes.

[00:36:59] Yes.

[00:36:59] Yes.

[00:36:59] It happens.

[00:37:00] And yet, I go back every week and have for the 31 episodes that we've recorded so far.

[00:37:08] I come back every week.

[00:37:11] It's crazy.

[00:37:13] It's crazy to think that I do that, but I do.

[00:37:17] So, my first one is Wendell and Wilde.

[00:37:23] Nice.

[00:37:24] Because I love getting to cover movies that I have never seen, especially when they're animated ones.

[00:37:32] Because we always have fun conversations.

[00:37:36] But it's not just that.

[00:37:37] When we do animated films, a lot of times it's got a deeper meaning or complex storytelling that goes deeper than just what you're seeing.

[00:37:52] And some of our best conversations.

[00:37:55] I go back to Mitchell's versus the machines.

[00:37:58] Absolutely.

[00:37:59] Yeah.

[00:37:59] Those conversations always stand out to me, and I come away from it feeling like we've had a deep dive on something so much more than a movie.

[00:38:09] Mm-hmm.

[00:38:10] And so, I had to pick that one.

[00:38:13] Yeah.

[00:38:13] That one was great.

[00:38:14] It's an honorable mention for me, for sure.

[00:38:19] Next one, another great special guest host episode.

[00:38:25] We had a guest return to the podcast, but to cover a movie for the first time.

[00:38:33] It's when we had our good friend Levi come on, and they helped us talk about Splinter.

[00:38:37] And that was to talk with Levi about something that's not Tremors, as much as they're going to throw out as many Tremors references as they can.

[00:38:45] Yes.

[00:38:45] But-

[00:38:46] Always.

[00:38:46] That's-

[00:38:47] But that was so much fun.

[00:38:49] And you know what?

[00:38:50] It's on my list, too.

[00:38:52] I had so much fun talking with Levi about something that wasn't Tremors.

[00:38:57] Yeah.

[00:38:58] And we've already picked a movie for next season for them to come back on and talk about.

[00:39:03] Yeah.

[00:39:04] So, I'm looking forward to that already.

[00:39:08] Okay.

[00:39:08] So, my next one is The Substance.

[00:39:17] I liked that episode because it gave me a chance to talk about something that I feel very strongly about and maybe even get a little vulnerable about.

[00:39:27] And-

[00:39:28] Yeah.

[00:39:28] Having that opportunity to be able to do that on this podcast isn't something I thought I was going to do.

[00:39:35] But watching that movie, it just gave me the opportunity to do that.

[00:39:39] And I appreciate so much being able to share my thoughts on it.

[00:39:47] Yeah.

[00:39:48] That one is also one of my nominee choices in my top five there.

[00:39:52] Even though I'm not as personally qualified to talk about that subject material at all.

[00:40:02] To be able to, again, with having you and a lot of the feedback that came in to really dive into that stuff, which was really great.

[00:40:08] And then, selfishly, on the thing that I did have a lot of fun being able to talk about was the absolute ridiculous, bonkers, dark comedy of that movie that I did enjoy that part that I could really go off on.

[00:40:21] Especially the ending and I think so overall.

[00:40:26] Yeah.

[00:40:26] A deep, but also darkly hilarious movie.

[00:40:31] Yeah.

[00:40:32] I felt like on the surface it may have appeared to be one thing, but there was a lot more underneath, especially with the messaging, but also, like you said, the dark comedy pieces.

[00:40:45] It was a movie that took itself seriously when it needed to, and then didn't when it didn't need to.

[00:40:55] And walking that fine line is hard to do sometimes.

[00:41:01] Yeah, for sure.

[00:41:02] So, definitely enjoyed that one.

[00:41:05] My next nominee, No One Will Save You.

[00:41:09] Throwing that one out for episodes.

[00:41:10] And episodes, again, just being able to nerd out about such a unique movie with a lot of the shots and a lot of just the choices.

[00:41:19] I mean, again, having no dialogue in the whole movie other than two lines is insane.

[00:41:26] But the way that it was pulled off and just to be able to nerd out about the filming and cinematography and ideas in that movie had a blast with that.

[00:41:37] It's a great one to talk about.

[00:41:38] That was another movie.

[00:41:39] It's on my honorable mention list.

[00:41:42] It's a movie that knew what it was and kept true to its vision, and I appreciated that, too.

[00:41:51] It wasn't a perfect movie because I don't think any movie is.

[00:41:55] Sorry, Levi, but Tremors is not 100% perfect.

[00:42:00] Not everything can be Scott Pilgrim versus the world.

[00:42:04] What about Baby Driver?

[00:42:07] Baby Driver.

[00:42:09] I think, you know, Baby Driver, the only reason it's not a perfect movie is because Kevin Spacey's in it.

[00:42:17] And it just doesn't hold up in that regard.

[00:42:19] That's probably it.

[00:42:21] Okay.

[00:42:22] It has nothing to do with the movie.

[00:42:24] It's just Kevin Spacey has not aged well in the zeitgeist of things.

[00:42:28] Definitely not.

[00:42:32] So my last one is Abigail.

[00:42:37] All right.

[00:42:38] Because I just loved getting to talk about that movie.

[00:42:43] Dark comedy stuff is great.

[00:42:44] It's so fun, and we just have so much fun with it because it's not just the deep, dark stuff, but it's the laughter that comes with it.

[00:42:55] And the hilariousness of some of the things that happened in that movie.

[00:42:59] It was, yeah.

[00:43:01] Yeah.

[00:43:01] It was great.

[00:43:03] All right.

[00:43:04] And so then my last nominee choice, going back to covering a TV show, an entire season of a TV show, having a loyal, dedicated listener and friend Alma be able to come on and join us and have a really fun conversation was, yeah, talking about season one of Teacup.

[00:43:23] Yes.

[00:43:23] And digging into that show and all of its just complete nutso, everything going on with it.

[00:43:30] That is an honorable mention.

[00:43:32] And I check almost every day to see if there's going to be a season two.

[00:43:38] Because I really want there to be a season two.

[00:43:41] I check on that, and I'm also wondering about Skeleton Crew getting a season two.

[00:43:46] So I'm just kind of like, what is the plan here?

[00:43:49] But I also check on other movies, like sequels that have been talked about, and if they're moving forward, to kind of get an idea of what's out there.

[00:44:00] And so, yeah, it's my nerdy thing that I do.

[00:44:03] You know, maybe not every day, but probably a couple times a week, just to check on it.

[00:44:10] Okay, Paik.

[00:44:13] So we have three.

[00:44:15] We have The Substance, we have Splinter, and The Stuffed.

[00:44:18] It's all about, and The Stuff.

[00:44:21] It's all S.

[00:44:23] Yes.

[00:44:26] Super.

[00:44:30] That's a tough one.

[00:44:31] It really is.

[00:44:32] It's very tough.

[00:44:34] Like, I'm not even really, like, leaning any specific direction like I have with some of these other ones.

[00:44:40] It's like, it could easily be any of those.

[00:44:44] Yeah, for different reasons.

[00:44:47] I am not sure, because there's a reason why I would pick each one.

[00:44:55] And so it's really hard.

[00:44:59] So I think, let's do our honorable mentions, and then we'll come back to it.

[00:45:05] Like, give our brains a break for a second.

[00:45:08] So, what did you have?

[00:45:11] So, honorable mentions for episodes.

[00:45:14] Independence Day, Resurgence, that kicked off the season.

[00:45:17] You had to have Ben come back on and do another Independence Day movie with us.

[00:45:21] Always.

[00:45:22] Always fun.

[00:45:23] Always great.

[00:45:24] Wendell and Wilde was an honorable mention.

[00:45:29] The Outtakes and Bloopers episode, just because it was – I didn't have to do anything.

[00:45:33] It was all you.

[00:45:34] And you put in some work and editing and stuff into that, and that was just really fun.

[00:45:40] Because I wasn't just co-hosting that episode.

[00:45:43] I was a listener in that episode, because I just came in and let you tee things up, and

[00:45:47] I just got to react and enjoy it.

[00:45:50] So that was fun.

[00:45:51] And I've been collecting throughout this season and actually marking them well so I know what

[00:45:58] they are.

[00:46:01] And maybe next season or the season after, there'll be another Outtakes episode.

[00:46:08] Got some fun ones.

[00:46:09] There'll be enough of them done in half a season worth.

[00:46:12] Yes.

[00:46:13] Ridiculousness, Pake.

[00:46:14] The ridiculousness.

[00:46:16] I don't ever do anything crazy or weird or ridiculous or funny.

[00:46:20] That's not me.

[00:46:24] Anyway, two more honorable mentions.

[00:46:26] Trap.

[00:46:27] I have on here as an honorable mention.

[00:46:28] Oh my god, yes.

[00:46:29] Legitimately.

[00:46:29] As an episode, because it's always fun when I can just tear something apart and have

[00:46:34] fun with it.

[00:46:36] Secret Tunnels.

[00:46:40] What?

[00:46:41] Secret Tunnels?

[00:46:43] Just throw it together.

[00:46:44] And then last one, Renfield.

[00:46:47] Because it took me this long to watch it, and it was such a fun ride.

[00:46:50] And thank you to Dodie for pushing us in that direction to finally cover it, because

[00:46:54] yeah, it was great.

[00:46:56] You won't have to wait as long, Dodie, for that other movie you'd like us to cover, because

[00:47:00] I've already put it on the list for next season.

[00:47:03] So mine were Twisters, Office Uprising, Independence Day Resurgence, Teacup, No One Will Save You,

[00:47:19] and that's it.

[00:47:22] All right, back to the work of...

[00:47:25] Yeah.

[00:47:26] Which S movie takes the S tier spot?

[00:47:28] Do you remember a couple of seasons ago when we let our audience pick that episode?

[00:47:37] I do remember that.

[00:47:38] I don't think we should do it.

[00:47:39] And I don't think I want to do that again.

[00:47:40] No.

[00:47:41] It's funny, because I think the season we did it is when we covered 28 Weeks Later,

[00:47:45] because it was up against Shaun of the Dead.

[00:47:47] I mean, it was insane what we were trying to do.

[00:47:52] This is so difficult.

[00:47:55] I do feel a pull.

[00:47:57] There is a specific direction I am leaning now.

[00:47:59] Okay.

[00:48:00] After kind of running over them.

[00:48:02] Okay.

[00:48:03] What are you thinking?

[00:48:04] I just feel like a certain movie here has what it takes.

[00:48:10] It has the correct ingredients pulled together to create the right situation.

[00:48:18] Some might say, a certain boy band might tell you it has the right stuff.

[00:48:27] And that's where I'm leaning to.

[00:48:30] You're leaning to...

[00:48:31] A Buffalo Buffalo production on Run For Your Lives, this stuff.

[00:48:35] Okay.

[00:48:35] Okay.

[00:48:36] Um...

[00:48:37] I was leaning more into something that splinters off into something scary and evil and creatures that attack you.

[00:48:52] Mm-hmm.

[00:48:53] But...

[00:48:55] I think...

[00:48:58] The fact that you want to pick the stuff is our episode of the year.

[00:49:05] Warms my heart in so many ways, because it's a movie that meant a lot to me when it...

[00:49:11] When I saw it in the 80s.

[00:49:13] It was just so fun and ridiculous.

[00:49:16] It doesn't hold up well in some ways.

[00:49:20] No.

[00:49:21] But...

[00:49:21] There are some great things about it.

[00:49:24] Mo is a terrible main character.

[00:49:27] Yeah.

[00:49:27] But I had so much fun with that, so...

[00:49:30] And Jason's also there.

[00:49:32] So, yeah.

[00:49:36] Oh, goodness.

[00:49:38] All right.

[00:49:39] So, I guess we'll move forward and the stuff will be our Season 8 Ruffle Award winner for episode.

[00:49:48] Yeah.

[00:49:48] I won't fight it.

[00:49:50] Seems to me.

[00:49:51] You've gotten your way.

[00:49:53] I think I just pretty much did on this one.

[00:49:55] You did.

[00:49:56] And so next season...

[00:49:58] And I'll put a note...

[00:49:58] Just to remind me.

[00:49:59] So every time we do this episode, we need to record it at 3.30 in the morning.

[00:50:02] And that way, you just are so tired and you're ready to get done with this that you just relent and let me have all of my choices.

[00:50:08] That's how that works, I think.

[00:50:12] Only if you were kidding that it was 3.30 in the morning when we're recording this.

[00:50:17] Yeah.

[00:50:17] I'm not kidding.

[00:50:20] That's what happens when you record on Christmas Day, which technically it's the 26th now because it is 3.30 in the morning.

[00:50:26] Uh-huh.

[00:50:29] It is.

[00:50:30] It's 3.30 in the morning.

[00:50:32] It's December 26th.

[00:50:34] It's what you have to do when you have a holiday and things to accomplish.

[00:50:40] It happens when it's a holiday and we have all family stuff to do and take precedence first.

[00:50:46] And then so I have family stuff and then I get home at 9 p.m. and then decide to start doing prep.

[00:50:52] Not just for this, but also for our Star Wars TV cast that we recorded right before this that we have to get out tomorrow.

[00:51:00] So, Pete, we're incredibly dedicated.

[00:51:04] We are just, we're, hey, we do it for you.

[00:51:08] Yep, we do.

[00:51:09] Would you like to recap the Riffle Award winners?

[00:51:14] Yeah.

[00:51:15] Yeah.

[00:51:15] So, yeah, we'll go in the same order we did.

[00:51:18] So, we start, so side character of Season 8, Frodo the Cat from A Quiet Place Day 1.

[00:51:24] Main character of Season 8, Sam from A Quiet Place Day 1.

[00:51:33] Threat of Season 8, the infected slash the rage virus people, because we're not going to say the Z word and get attacked, from 28 weeks later.

[00:51:47] I don't know, it's 3 o'clock in the morning.

[00:51:48] I feel like being attacked.

[00:51:52] A movie of Season 8, Twisters.

[00:51:58] And the episode of Season 8, The Stuff.

[00:52:01] I think that is pretty fantastic.

[00:52:06] Works for me, I like it.

[00:52:08] It's awesome.

[00:52:09] It never goes the way that, like, if I was going to make a prediction before we do this, even with me picking my tops, if I was to try to make predictions, I don't think I would ever know how it winds up being.

[00:52:21] No.

[00:52:21] It's always fun to see.

[00:52:22] Not at all.

[00:52:24] I did my own little fun dynamic duos thing, because I was putting everything together, and I'm like, but you know what?

[00:52:32] This season, we had a lot of really fun, like, team-ups.

[00:52:37] Even just last week, with Santa Claus and Trudy, like, from Violent Night, that was great.

[00:52:43] Samantha and Desmond from Office Uprising.

[00:52:49] Tyler Owens and Kate Carter from Twisters, like, they were great.

[00:52:55] Edward Boyce and Corporal Lewis Ford from Overlord.

[00:52:59] And who could forget Morgan and Bo Hess from Signs, and their little partnership.

[00:53:07] And Wendell and Wilde.

[00:53:09] From Wendell and Wilde.

[00:53:11] Like, they were able to get a lot done when they put their heads together for the good of someone else.

[00:53:19] So I think, Paik, we've made it through.

[00:53:23] This is episode number 200.

[00:53:25] We're recording at a time we've never recorded an episode before.

[00:53:30] The editing is going to be incredibly interesting.

[00:53:34] Yeah.

[00:53:35] I'm really wondering what our listeners thought were their favorite things about this season.

[00:53:40] Yeah, I don't know.

[00:53:43] This would be a time where a feedback phone could play, but part of me is just like, nah.

[00:53:48] Maybe we're not going to do a feedback phone this week, because, you know, that would be just kind of overdone, overplayed.

[00:53:53] Do it all the time anyway.

[00:53:54] Anyway, it's going to come back.

[00:53:58] Okay.

[00:53:59] Yeah.

[00:54:01] I stand corrected.

[00:54:02] It went off.

[00:54:03] See ya?

[00:54:04] No.

[00:54:06] Yeah.

[00:54:07] Let's see what some of the listeners have thoughts for this season.

[00:54:11] All right.

[00:54:12] Just a little bit of feedback for this season finale here.

[00:54:16] First, before we get into our feedback from Catherine, always coming through for the look back and our Riffle Award kind of stuff and her favorites this season.

[00:54:26] We're going to go back a couple movies we did hear from Tony about The Substance.

[00:54:32] Says, I just watched this, so I know I'm late to the show.

[00:54:34] I had a mixed reaction to this one.

[00:54:36] I thought it was visually outstanding, along with the acting, but I also think it should have ended 20 minutes earlier.

[00:54:41] Everything after Sue turns into the monster was unnecessary and just dumb.

[00:54:45] It ruined it for me completely.

[00:54:47] Aww.

[00:54:48] That's all right, Tony.

[00:54:49] And then, if you've listened to that episode at this point, you know I'm the exact opposite, where I was like, in those 20 minutes were the favorite part of my whole life.

[00:54:57] Like, I had the most fun ever.

[00:54:59] It was so metal.

[00:55:02] But that's the difference between you and I when it comes to horror, I guess.

[00:55:08] Well, talking about our favorite things from season 8, Catherine comes through with,

[00:55:15] So many good movies were covered this season.

[00:55:17] I had a hard time picking out favorites.

[00:55:21] Even after adding a few categories, there were a lot of movies I hated leaving off.

[00:55:26] Best episode, Halloween.

[00:55:28] Runner-up, Teacup.

[00:55:31] Best movie, Abigail and Halloween.

[00:55:34] Best sequel, Twisters, Runner-Up, Smile 2.

[00:55:39] Best animal, Frodo the Cat.

[00:55:42] Best character, Abigail.

[00:55:45] Best goo, The Stuff.

[00:55:48] Runner-up, The Substance.

[00:55:51] Biggest threat, 28 weeks later.

[00:55:53] Runner-up, Brandon from Brightburn.

[00:55:57] Top three movies that are fun to rewatch.

[00:55:59] Violent Night, Thanksgiving, and Renfield.

[00:56:03] Awesome.

[00:56:03] Thanks for that.

[00:56:04] Your own bonus categories.

[00:56:06] The Catherine Awards that we can add on on top of it.

[00:56:08] I think so.

[00:56:10] I'm interested, Catherine, what you think of what we picked when you listen to this episode.

[00:56:16] Awesome.

[00:56:17] I think you'll be happy with some of our choices, especially a lot of our – even the ones that maybe didn't make the exact final choice.

[00:56:24] A lot of our nominations and honorable mentions and stuff.

[00:56:26] I think you're on the same page with us on a lot of those.

[00:57:42] So Season 1, Episode 5 is up.

[00:57:45] And then Episode 6 should be up today sometime as well.

[00:57:49] If it's not up as you're listening to this, check back.

[00:57:51] It will be up some point today.

[00:57:53] A little bit later because the hosts of that show can't get their shit together.

[00:57:57] Whoever's running that show now.

[00:58:00] No, me and Daphne have been covering that over there.

[00:58:02] It's just the holidays and sickness and all kinds of...

[00:58:05] But we're still doing it.

[00:58:06] We're still covering it.

[00:58:06] Loving every second of that show.

[00:58:08] Huge Star Wars nerd.

[00:58:09] She's not.

[00:58:10] And we're still having a blast.

[00:58:11] We are.

[00:58:12] This week was a great episode.

[00:58:15] So...

[00:58:15] Yes.

[00:58:15] It was fun to break it down.

[00:58:17] Yeah.

[00:58:18] Over on Yellow Jackets WTF.

[00:58:20] Season 3 is upon us.

[00:58:22] Sooner than we'll realize.

[00:58:24] Halloween.

[00:58:26] Valentine's Day coming up soon.

[00:58:27] February 14th.

[00:58:28] We'll have the premiere of Season 3.

[00:58:30] So they've been releasing some trailers and stuff.

[00:58:33] So Penny, Wendy, and Daphne just released an episode breaking down the newest trailer stuff.

[00:58:39] So if you're ending all the speculation and fun stuff like that, definitely go check that out.

[00:58:45] Welcome to the Apocalypse, the improv comedy podcast with Randy, Jenny, and Rob.

[00:58:52] Has just released a new episode this week titled Lizzie and the Big Performance.

[00:58:57] It is part two split from last episode two weeks ago.

[00:59:02] So if you listen to that, yeah, it's the continuation of that story.

[00:59:04] So definitely go check that out.

[00:59:07] Always a fun time.

[00:59:08] Super funny.

[00:59:08] Good stuff going on there.

[00:59:10] Hilarious.

[00:59:11] Good.

[00:59:11] Check out Welcome to the Apocalypse.

[00:59:29] So you can check that out.

[00:59:31] And our good friends over at TV Podcast Industries covered Season 3, the final season of the Disney Plus Marvel series.

[00:59:40] What If?

[00:59:41] Which I still haven't watched yet because all the holidays and all the things dropping all the time.

[00:59:47] But yeah, definitely need to get on that.

[00:59:49] A lot of good Marvel stuff coming up soon.

[00:59:51] And that's kind of kicking off a lot of that there, even though it's something.

[00:59:55] It's What If?

[00:59:55] But yeah, definitely want to check that out if you're a Marvel fan.

[01:00:23] And it's always a blast over there.

[01:00:25] We're always looking forward to recording and just goofing around.

[01:00:28] It's a good time.

[01:00:30] Yeah, usually that's what I say.

[01:00:31] But you can always come back right here next week.

[01:00:33] But no, you can't.

[01:00:33] You cannot come back here.

[01:00:35] You're not allowed to.

[01:00:36] We are putting our foot down.

[01:00:38] Do not come back here.

[01:00:39] We told you to leave.

[01:00:40] Just go.

[01:00:41] Just go.

[01:00:41] Why don't you?

[01:00:42] Can't you see?

[01:00:42] We don't love you anymore.

[01:00:43] No.

[01:00:45] This was season finale.

[01:00:46] So we're going to take a little break.

[01:00:48] Take a little hiatus.

[01:00:49] We'll take some time to give ourselves a little break.

[01:00:53] Take time to record Star Wars and all the other stuff that we got going on.

[01:00:56] And then we'll still get back into our little studios, so to speak, and record some new episodes, make some stuff up soon.

[01:01:03] But we should be back sometime in February, I think.

[01:01:06] We will be back on Valentine's Day.

[01:01:10] Awesome.

[01:01:11] Sounds great.

[01:01:12] Sounds like a lovely day to come back to podcasting.

[01:01:15] Right?

[01:01:15] Yeah.

[01:01:18] With that, we've reached the end of episode 200.

[01:01:24] Damn.

[01:01:26] Thanks, everyone, for listening.

[01:01:27] I'm Daphne.

[01:01:29] And I'm Peyton.

[01:01:30] And if you have to run, you better run for your lives.

[01:01:34] Buh-bye.

[01:01:35] Bye.

[01:01:35] Bye.

[01:01:35] Bye.

[01:01:36] Bye.
