[00:00:06] Welcome to our podcast. I'm Daphne. And I'm Paik. And this is the Star Wars TV Cast, Episode 62.
[00:01:15] Yeah, this week we are starting our coverage of Star Wars Skeleton Crew. We'll be covering Episodes 1, 2, and 3.
[00:01:28] All together, titled, This Could Be a Real Adventure, Way, Way Out Past the Barrier, and Very Interesting as an Astrogation Problem.
[00:01:38] Is that what it's actually called?
[00:01:40] That is the official title of Episode 3.
[00:01:43] Well, that's great because what I saw wasn't that.
[00:01:47] Yeah, no, it had Coming of Age originally on places online, and then when the episode dropped Tuesday night,
[00:01:56] that's not what it said on Disney+.
[00:01:59] Wow, okay. Well, that's good to know.
[00:02:02] Yeah. If you are listening to this as a Star Wars TV Cast usual listener and fan, you may not recognize our voices.
[00:02:09] Maybe a lot of you do, but if this is the only podcast to podcast you really frequent, then you might not recognize us.
[00:02:14] So I'll go ahead and take a second to introduce ourselves.
[00:02:17] My name is Paik.
[00:02:18] That is Daphne, of course.
[00:02:20] Yeah.
[00:02:21] As we said a minute ago, we are the hosts of another podcast here on the Podcastica Network, Run For Your Lives,
[00:02:29] where we cover all things monster movies, creature features, disaster flicks, things like that.
[00:02:35] But we're doing something a little bit different.
[00:02:36] I am a huge Star Wars nerd, which is strange enough, I guess, that I haven't been on this podcast yet.
[00:02:43] So, Jason, thank you so much for the opportunity.
[00:02:46] It's really cool. I'm excited to do that.
[00:02:48] And on the flip side of that, I'm excited to talk about this show as a Star Wars nerd who's absolutely loving it on its own
[00:02:56] and as the Star Wars lore that it's within.
[00:02:59] But then I'm joined by a co-host who is not a Star Wars nerd by any stretch of the imagination.
[00:03:08] Not at all.
[00:03:09] I did see the first three movies.
[00:03:12] And by that, I mean, I saw Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi.
[00:03:18] Yeah.
[00:03:19] I saw Phantom Menace.
[00:03:21] That is the extent of what I've seen of the Star Wars films.
[00:03:25] Mm-hmm.
[00:03:27] I just lost interest.
[00:03:30] And then I watched Mandalorian.
[00:03:33] I got kind of strong-armed into giving Mandalorian a chance.
[00:03:37] And I enjoyed Mandalorian a lot.
[00:03:39] I watched Obi-Wan.
[00:03:41] And somehow I'm here.
[00:03:46] Yeah.
[00:03:47] Well, I knew you would enjoy this show.
[00:03:48] Just based on other things that we enjoy, we have a shared interest of kind of the 80s coming of age.
[00:03:55] A huge action-adventure kids on bikes trope kind of thing.
[00:04:00] So this show is definitely within that realm as well.
[00:04:04] It's Star Wars meets Goonies meets Pirates of the Caribbean.
[00:04:08] So it's, yeah, it's just, it's perfect.
[00:04:11] Who wouldn't love it?
[00:04:12] I don't know.
[00:04:13] Because it's a ton of fun.
[00:04:15] And I know that there was talk, or at least I read some people saying,
[00:04:21] well, is this just for kids?
[00:04:23] I don't think it is.
[00:04:25] Not based on the first three episodes.
[00:04:27] I think there's enough intensity to definitely keep an adult's interest.
[00:04:33] I think it could be something that family could watch together.
[00:04:38] But I think as an adult, it's also a lot of fun to watch.
[00:04:41] Oh, there's so much in it for those of older generations.
[00:04:48] I'm a millennial.
[00:04:49] But, you know, millennials and Gen Xs and stuff.
[00:04:51] Like, there's still so much of that 80s reference, that John Hughes reference and things.
[00:04:57] It's just chock full of it here in the show.
[00:05:00] So, like, there's so much of that.
[00:05:03] So, yeah, it's great for everybody, I think.
[00:05:06] But it's definitely got a lot of fun stuff to it.
[00:05:08] I'm excited to talk about it.
[00:05:10] Me too.
[00:05:11] So, yeah, we'll break down all kinds of stuff.
[00:05:14] So we're doing the first three episodes all together.
[00:05:16] So this one might be a huge episode.
[00:05:18] And then we'll go week to week, one episode at a time after that.
[00:05:21] So the rest of the episodes of this show might not be as long as this first one will probably run.
[00:05:26] We've got a lot to talk about in these first three episodes.
[00:05:30] Yeah, there's a ton to talk about.
[00:05:32] Yeah.
[00:05:32] Again, coming at it from this side where I don't know the lore, but that's what you're here for.
[00:05:39] I've got not everything handled, but a lot of stuff I can talk about and bring up.
[00:05:46] Of course, first is where does this show take place in the timeline, in the grand scheme of Star Wars?
[00:05:52] And we get that in the first episode, the little...
[00:05:54] We don't get like the classic, you know, Star Wars scrawl so much anymore, but...
[00:06:00] I noticed that.
[00:06:01] But we get some still opening, you know, words and titles to kind of tell us where we're at and give us a little background on what's going on.
[00:06:08] So, of course, this show is post-Empire.
[00:06:12] So for people who, you know, know Star Wars or need a little, that is post-Episode 6.
[00:06:18] That is after Return of the Jedi, but before The Force Awakens, before Episode 7.
[00:06:23] It's in that time where the Empire has been taken down, Vader and Emperor Palpatine are gone.
[00:06:30] But that kind of new order hasn't risen up yet and taken over.
[00:06:36] It's this downtime between those darker cycles where the New Republic is in charge right now,
[00:06:42] led by a lot of the rebel alliance who have now become generals and leaders and senators and stuff of their own right.
[00:06:49] So, yeah, that's kind of where we're at in this period of peace, so to speak.
[00:06:54] Of course, it's not necessarily still a lot of different Empire factions running around out there causing chaos.
[00:07:02] And opened up to a lot of, like, you know, pirates and, you know, different people running around in those regards, mostly in the Outer Rim areas.
[00:07:12] But that's the thing, it's like, even this New Republic isn't necessarily perfect.
[00:07:17] As we've seen, if you've watched Mandalorian and Ahsoka and things like that, you know that, like,
[00:07:22] yeah, they are protectors of this galaxy, but not to everybody.
[00:07:27] Like, you've got to be Republic worlds.
[00:07:29] Like, you basically still have to have some kind of tie-in or loyalty to them,
[00:07:33] or else they're not really going to go out of their way to help you if you're dealing with problems.
[00:07:37] So it's not a perfect system.
[00:07:40] Still a lot of kind of shady things that can go on within this realm.
[00:07:44] As we'll see here, of course, I don't know if, and we'll talk about it, but like, Ad Aten itself is a planet.
[00:07:51] I don't think it doesn't have the ties to the New Republic.
[00:07:54] There's something else going on, and I'm curious.
[00:07:58] And we'll talk about those things.
[00:07:59] But yeah, but just to set the stage of kind of where we're at in the grand scheme of Star Wars right now.
[00:08:03] I appreciate you giving that rundown because I had no idea where it fit in the timeline.
[00:08:09] So this is in the same timeline.
[00:08:12] So Mandalorian, Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka are all taking place in this same time period.
[00:08:17] So they are kind of, as far as we don't have an exact timeline of like where Skeleton Crew fits in.
[00:08:23] But yeah, but those shows are all in this same post-Empire area.
[00:08:31] Okay, that's good.
[00:08:32] And because I haven't really seen anything else after, I really don't know what's going to happen.
[00:08:38] So if there's something that happens and another evil empire rises and takes over and obliterates everything, I have no idea.
[00:08:47] Yeah.
[00:08:48] So I can enjoy this without thinking, well, that sucks.
[00:08:52] They're all going to die anyway.
[00:08:54] So I appreciate coming at it from that point of view where I don't have to, you know, know too much at the start.
[00:09:02] So how I think we're going to do this here.
[00:09:04] If you listen to us on Run For Your Lives, we like to break things down a lot by character arcs and stuff.
[00:09:08] And we might break into that a little bit.
[00:09:11] Yeah, so I figure we'll just kind of go through and we've got a lot to get to.
[00:09:15] So we just can talk about things in different sections as whatever, you know, topics and points we want to talk about.
[00:09:23] And just go until we run out of notes sometime tomorrow.
[00:09:27] That could be a problem because I have a lot of little notes on things.
[00:09:31] I have questions that you can probably answer for me.
[00:09:35] You already answered one of them.
[00:09:39] So that's good, which was the timeline.
[00:09:41] I just wasn't sure.
[00:09:44] Yeah, where this fit.
[00:09:45] And so it's cool to know where we are.
[00:09:49] So for first point, I figure since I've done plenty of talking already off the top, I will let you start.
[00:09:56] Oh, my goodness.
[00:09:57] Well, for me, I want to dive into the kids right away.
[00:10:02] I feel like we have to dive into the kids.
[00:10:04] Yeah.
[00:10:07] And part of that discussion ties to another topic I have, which are expectations put on kids by their parents.
[00:10:19] Nice.
[00:10:20] Which I think kind of shapes the way that things go in at least the first episode.
[00:10:29] The sense of adventure, the longing for something more than the mundane that the kids see.
[00:10:36] So the first character we meet outside of that opening that we get before that is Wim, who I think is perfectly named because he's a whimsical kid.
[00:10:51] Oh, see, I think of it more of just like everything.
[00:10:53] He's impulsive.
[00:10:54] Everything he does is on a whim.
[00:10:58] I think it's probably both.
[00:11:00] Maybe.
[00:11:00] Yeah, I think both.
[00:11:01] Fit him for sure.
[00:11:03] Yeah.
[00:11:04] All the things that he doesn't.
[00:11:05] He's not doing all the nothings that he gets into.
[00:11:09] I didn't touch anything.
[00:11:10] I didn't do anything.
[00:11:11] No, you did everything.
[00:11:14] It does no good to tell this kid not to touch something because he's going to do it.
[00:11:19] Although I do hope that he listens to SM33 and doesn't press that one button that's going to cause this huge self-destruction.
[00:11:27] You know that button's getting pushed at some point in the series by the end of this season, at least.
[00:11:32] Probably.
[00:11:32] I don't know if it's going a second season.
[00:11:34] I haven't seen a whole lot of information.
[00:11:35] I tend to stay away from spoilers, trailers, things.
[00:11:39] I like to stay unspoiled and hidden away.
[00:11:41] You do.
[00:11:43] So I don't know how long this continues if it's a limited series or if they're wanting to do multiple seasons like Mandalorian and Ahsoka.
[00:11:49] But yeah, that button's definitely getting pushed at some point.
[00:11:53] Well, we know that we have eight episodes to cover total this season.
[00:11:59] If it doesn't go beyond that, at least we'll have fun with whatever they give us this season and it will be great.
[00:12:05] These are the types of kids overall before I dive too much into him.
[00:12:09] There are times that I'm watching something and the kids end up being kind of annoying or a pain in the butt.
[00:12:17] And these kids, though they could be quite precocious.
[00:12:22] I really am so endeared to them already.
[00:12:27] Yes.
[00:12:27] Like right from the very beginning, there was nothing annoying to me.
[00:12:33] It was more, oh, that poor kid or oh, look at the friendship and the connections that they have together.
[00:12:39] It legitimately took one scene for each of them to immediately just me to fall in love with who they are and be like, yep, I'm following them.
[00:12:47] This is great.
[00:12:49] Yeah, I love it.
[00:12:50] And again, cut in with different things.
[00:12:53] But to talk about, yeah, those tropes, that kids on bikes trope.
[00:12:56] Because funny enough, for those who may not know any of the podcastic realm, we've been playing a, it's called Kids on Bikes.
[00:13:04] It is like a Dungeons and Dragons kind of tabletop role playing game, a little bit different mechanics called Kids on Bikes.
[00:13:10] And it's very much playing with these tropes and these kind of 80s ideas of adventure and working together and those things.
[00:13:18] And so I can't help but watch this kind of through that lens, especially at first, because it's like, oh, it's Kids on Speeder Bikes.
[00:13:25] That's what we're getting here.
[00:13:28] That's how you sold it to me.
[00:13:30] Yeah, exactly.
[00:13:31] You've been enjoying playing the game and it's like, well, you'll love this.
[00:13:34] Yeah, it was tons of fun.
[00:13:36] I could see the connection right away from the very beginning of the episode.
[00:13:41] And so, yeah, I totally agree.
[00:13:44] Yeah.
[00:13:44] And these characters, they have those tropes without feeling too tropey.
[00:13:49] But as somebody who's been, I'm GMing that game, running it.
[00:13:53] So it's like putting it in PCs and kind of having the backstory in my head.
[00:13:58] I can see where I'm like, where this could be players rolling the dice and playing these kids in some kind of game.
[00:14:04] Where I'm like, oh, I see the kind of tropes or character formats that they're playing as.
[00:14:09] You can kind of pick out.
[00:14:11] That's what this character would definitely do that.
[00:14:13] And that's why they behave like that.
[00:14:14] And these two would interact this way together.
[00:14:16] So I kind of broke them down.
[00:14:18] Or this kid would miss the bus or the train at school.
[00:14:21] Oh, yeah.
[00:14:22] So I broke them down into kind of like character like explanations if they were characters in a kids on bikes like game or trope.
[00:14:30] Where Wim, high charm, lovable, well-intentioned troublemaker.
[00:14:35] Good kid, but his curiosity and impulsiveness get in his way, but a true born adventurer.
[00:14:40] I have Neil as the good kid, the sidekick, quiet and reserved, best friend, voice of reason.
[00:14:45] Doesn't want to break the rules or get in trouble.
[00:14:48] Have Fern, who is the strong-willed natural leader.
[00:14:51] Highly intelligent, but also marches to the beat of her own drum.
[00:14:54] Can be bossy, but she's almost always right.
[00:14:57] And then KB, the tech wizard, loyal, great confidant and friend, willing to adventure alongside you and always great to get you out of a scrape.
[00:15:04] Quiet, but capable.
[00:15:06] I think those are great descriptions of the kids.
[00:15:11] I think it really matches up.
[00:15:14] And then you can dig a little bit deeper with each one.
[00:15:17] We didn't get a ton of like backstory on home life, especially on KB.
[00:15:22] Like we get a little teeny bit at the beginning of episode three where you meet her moms.
[00:15:28] Yeah.
[00:15:29] But not so much like digging in.
[00:15:32] You get a bit of whim and I feel for him because again, I feel like there's this expectation for him to take care of himself and his dad is focused on work.
[00:15:43] But there's this expectation for him to perform well in school and do what he's told.
[00:15:49] And he's basically given money to buy his lunch for the week and probably his dinner too, because his dad is incredibly busy.
[00:16:00] He has too much to do and is focused on work.
[00:16:04] Yeah.
[00:16:05] And on the other side, you get Fern, who her mother has incredibly high expectations of her.
[00:16:13] She has more of a life of privilege than Wem does, but the expectation is there.
[00:16:19] Yeah.
[00:16:20] And yet she still has this yearning for adventure, no matter, you know, she's top student.
[00:16:27] That's what her, you know, in the top, that's what her mom wants for her.
[00:16:31] And yet there's this longing for adventure.
[00:16:36] And I think Wim and Fern butting heads is definitely something that we may see less of as the series goes on, because I think they haven't really clicked yet.
[00:16:50] But I think if they do, they're going to be quite a force to be reckoned with.
[00:16:54] Yeah.
[00:16:54] But I think they have similar personality characteristics where each one wants to be the leader, but only one really can be.
[00:17:05] And they both have this longing for something more than to be an accountant or, you know, an analyst.
[00:17:14] Wim wants to be a Jedi.
[00:17:16] He didn't say the word, but that's what he wants to be.
[00:17:19] But like, basically, you did.
[00:17:23] I mean, Neil told him he did.
[00:17:24] I love those.
[00:17:26] And there's a lot of dialogue moments like that where like, yeah, Neil and Wim having that was like, why did you say you wanted to be a Jedi?
[00:17:32] And he's like, I didn't say that.
[00:17:33] It's like, well, yeah, but basically, you totally did.
[00:17:36] And he's like, but I didn't.
[00:17:36] He's like, but you did.
[00:17:37] You kind of.
[00:17:38] And like that or later on when they're at the quote unquote Jedi Temple turns out to be the starship there where there's this whole argument between the boys and the girls over claimsies.
[00:17:50] And it's like, oh, my God.
[00:17:52] It's such classic kid stuff.
[00:17:54] But it's honestly, it's great writing because it feels like you are just viewing kids in their element with each other, arguing over stupid things that only make sense and matter to them in that moment.
[00:18:06] Yes.
[00:18:06] Yeah.
[00:18:07] Because the bigger picture is they're on a ship that's going to take them into space.
[00:18:11] They don't have any clue what danger they're in when they're in this fight over claiming what all they know is like a door in the ground at that point.
[00:18:23] It was ridiculous and yet hilarious.
[00:18:27] And I just found myself connecting with them through all of these things because it takes you back to when you were a kid.
[00:18:39] Even something as ridiculous or silly as when they're getting on the tram and someone puts gum on the back of the robot's head.
[00:18:47] I mean, I know kids that used to spit spitballs at the bus driver.
[00:18:51] I mean, those are the types of things that happen.
[00:18:57] And then talking about racing, you know, Fern and KB are talking about racing these bully type kids.
[00:19:05] Yeah.
[00:19:06] And it's like kids race bikes all the time.
[00:19:09] Like these, you can take yourself back to see what it was like back then.
[00:19:15] And it just endeared me even more.
[00:19:18] Yeah.
[00:19:19] It's like, how do we stand up to the bullies?
[00:19:20] We got to get a new power converter and we got to we got to beat them in a race and we show them that it's tough and we're not going to back down.
[00:19:25] Exactly.
[00:19:26] Yeah.
[00:19:27] It's what you got to do.
[00:19:27] You got to stand up for yourself.
[00:19:29] You got to fight back when you need to and in the right way.
[00:19:33] And I think it doesn't hurt that my character on Kids on Bikes is very similar to Fern.
[00:19:39] That's one of those things that I really hooked you in with.
[00:19:41] I was like, you're going to love Fern.
[00:19:43] I was like, I promise you, you're going to love her.
[00:19:47] She's very much like my Kids on Bikes character.
[00:19:49] Very strong willed and headstrong and wants to be the responsible one.
[00:19:55] But also can be immature.
[00:19:59] We haven't seen a lot of her vulnerability yet, but I think we will.
[00:20:05] I just I have a feeling we're going to see her be a bit more vulnerable as the season goes on.
[00:20:12] For sure.
[00:20:14] Yeah.
[00:20:15] Yeah.
[00:20:16] There's a lot of great stuff with them.
[00:20:17] They might have kind of the kids all together and then break things down.
[00:20:21] But yeah, just them interacting with each other because they're not all I mean, we get like Neil and Wim are clearly like best friends.
[00:20:28] And then KB and Fern are also seem to be in that boat, like just best friends always together.
[00:20:33] And then through this Jedi Temple starship situation, they cross paths and become this little motley crew here.
[00:20:44] And it starts with Wim seeing the speeder bike going off road while they're, you know, while him and Neil are on the bus.
[00:20:50] He's just kind of enamored and intrigued by by Fern and KB rolling by on this bike and like, wait, who is that?
[00:20:58] And then when they get to school, he's he's kind of eyeing the girls and their bike.
[00:21:03] And like, who are they?
[00:21:05] You know, like you got to get this like, I'm I'm really intrigued.
[00:21:09] And then of course, it's fun.
[00:21:11] I think it's something different.
[00:21:13] It's not the same old, same old that he's accustomed to.
[00:21:17] They're adventuring.
[00:21:18] They're doing something cool that he wants to do, too.
[00:21:22] Yeah.
[00:21:22] And then he has that moment with Fern while sitting at the Proctor's principal's office waiting on them and then on his dad where you see the way that they kind of work well together.
[00:21:34] Fern, I love how she's just loves messing with people by making things up.
[00:21:41] Specifically Wim, she loves to get under his skin and pick on him and make him think things.
[00:21:45] And even when he's like, that's totally made up and that's stupid.
[00:21:50] But she delivers it in such a way that you can tell in his head.
[00:21:52] He's like, but what if?
[00:21:53] Like, I don't know.
[00:21:55] Do I want to work in a mine underground at the school?
[00:22:00] No, probably not.
[00:22:02] Yeah.
[00:22:02] Yeah.
[00:22:03] But he's telling his dad all about this Jedi temple that he found while trying to take the same shortcut that she takes.
[00:22:10] So he's already, there's that connection between them and she just hears everything he says.
[00:22:15] So clearly her and KB are also going to go check this thing out.
[00:22:19] Oh, definitely.
[00:22:20] He tries to blow it off, too.
[00:22:22] Wim is just like, oh, no, no, no.
[00:22:25] It's like, it's too late for that dude.
[00:22:27] She's already heard you.
[00:22:29] That's it.
[00:22:30] Yeah.
[00:22:32] And again, there's like a lot of little specific character things, but them all together.
[00:22:36] Yeah.
[00:22:36] They exploring this temple that turns out to be a ship.
[00:22:40] When that headset fell down and I realized exactly what it was.
[00:22:47] Yeah.
[00:22:47] I thought, oh boy.
[00:22:50] I know Neil didn't want to get in trouble, but I have a feeling that this, this is going
[00:22:55] to be bad.
[00:22:56] Oh yeah.
[00:22:57] No, uh, Wim's way of not touching anything is definitely going to lead to something, which
[00:23:04] yeah, definitely.
[00:23:05] They, they kick the thing back to life with the classic tried and true method of just bang
[00:23:09] on it until it turns back on.
[00:23:11] Good move.
[00:23:13] KB is so smart.
[00:23:15] She just took the thing, banged on it twice.
[00:23:19] It got up and running again.
[00:23:21] The lights were on, things were working.
[00:23:24] That was the first step in the problem.
[00:23:27] Mm-hmm.
[00:23:29] Yeah.
[00:23:30] And the ship takes off and they're on a starship out in space.
[00:23:35] Uh, not only do they leave the planet, go past the barrier, they hit hyperspace and immediately
[00:23:42] could be anywhere in the galaxy.
[00:23:45] Far, far away from home.
[00:23:46] Yes.
[00:23:47] Uh, to a place where people don't even know, at least in the beginning, at Adden was, I
[00:23:57] don't know, no, I don't know where that is.
[00:24:00] What is that?
[00:24:01] Yeah.
[00:24:02] So I thought, are they hidden?
[00:24:06] And then it comes out that it's like a mystery place of treasure.
[00:24:12] Yeah.
[00:24:13] Like it's a secret.
[00:24:14] Well, I've got so many notes and thoughts about all that, but we will.
[00:24:17] We will get there.
[00:24:19] We will get there.
[00:24:21] Yeah.
[00:24:22] Uh, but again, they're, they're kids on an adventure.
[00:24:24] I mean, they, you know, meet SM33, which I love SM33.
[00:24:29] Oh, the drunken sailor droid is what I called him because he, just the way he's walking around,
[00:24:35] he's had better days than, than today.
[00:24:39] Mm-hmm.
[00:24:40] The poor guy.
[00:24:40] And yeah, they, they wind up going to this pirate, uh, starport, the Borgo Prime starport,
[00:24:50] wind up there and get into just a load of mess with that.
[00:24:55] Uh, get separated immediately, just looking at all these like new things, because this is all such new experience.
[00:25:04] None of them have seen stars before.
[00:25:06] Yeah.
[00:25:07] They've been in this bubble, in this kind of like hidden away little box of Ad Atten where there's, yeah, the barrier.
[00:25:15] And it's that kind of nebular gas, as Kim calls it.
[00:25:20] And, you know, just kind of hiding what's above.
[00:25:23] And then you can even see like the little red dots that are in there.
[00:25:25] Like there's almost some kind of like hologram or something just like over the top that is making sure to block out anything from beyond.
[00:25:31] And it's probably some kind of shield or something, or, you know, you know, masking situation where you can't see the planet from the outside.
[00:25:40] Something like that.
[00:25:41] That may come back into play where they get there and go, where is it?
[00:25:44] Well, I mean, a seismic disturbance was detected when the ship left.
[00:25:52] Oh yeah.
[00:25:53] Obviously.
[00:25:54] Obviously.
[00:25:54] That ship then, getting into a little bit of the Ad Atten of everything, because of the way that it's set up with this barrier and it's hidden away from everything.
[00:26:03] We learn from Kim, like when these things, these jewels of the Old Republic were hidden away.
[00:26:09] That is pre, like, Old Republic.
[00:26:12] That is pre-Clone Wars.
[00:26:14] That is when Darth Vader, Anakin Skywalker was a child or even not born yet.
[00:26:19] That is when that ship would have had to have landed and been buried on that planet.
[00:26:23] It's been there for a very long time.
[00:26:27] Yes, it has.
[00:26:28] And it ran pretty well for something that's been buried for such a long time.
[00:26:33] I mean, it was covered.
[00:26:37] If Wim had not fallen into that ravine, no one probably would have found it.
[00:26:45] Like, it's just covered.
[00:26:48] Buried.
[00:26:48] Buried.
[00:26:49] Like, it's not even there.
[00:26:51] Because it doesn't mean we're probably pre-separatists.
[00:26:53] I mean, even way before that, it's just Old Republic stuff.
[00:26:57] Yeah.
[00:26:59] Yeah.
[00:26:59] So that's where we see them.
[00:27:01] And then back on Ad Atten, like I said, the parents are all kind of gathered together waiting on this news of, like, where are our kids?
[00:27:09] Hoping they can be found, which, I mean, Wendell, Wim's father, was there when the ship took off, so he knows.
[00:27:15] So when the safety droid is like, it's going to give him the news that he's already very aware of.
[00:27:20] It's like, yep, they left the barrier in a giant starship.
[00:27:23] Who knows where they are?
[00:27:26] And then that moment where the droid's like, and the supervisor, because they left the barrier, isn't willing to risk any kind of outside communication.
[00:27:35] It's like, so we just give up?
[00:27:37] We don't care?
[00:27:38] Like, they're that worried about their safety and protection and being hidden.
[00:27:42] They're like, oh, well, they're gone.
[00:27:45] So what are we going to do about that?
[00:27:47] Nothing.
[00:27:48] Nothing.
[00:27:49] You know, the great work is much more important than that, I guess.
[00:27:54] Parents were not looking like they were going to accept that as an answer, although I just don't know what on earth they're going to be able to do.
[00:28:02] Right.
[00:28:03] I guess we'll see in the future.
[00:28:05] Yeah.
[00:28:05] But you could see the devastation.
[00:28:07] You could hear it in their voices.
[00:28:09] I mean, Wim's dad, the look on his face.
[00:28:14] The confirmation of what he already knew.
[00:28:18] And not only that, but that they're not going to do anything to help them find their kids.
[00:28:24] Yeah.
[00:28:25] And then Fern's mother, Carrie Condon.
[00:28:28] Great to see.
[00:28:29] Oh, my gosh.
[00:28:31] But yeah, I mean, she's high up enough in the ranks of things on AT-AT and it seems like that she's not going to just like sit back and not do anything.
[00:28:40] She's going to try to pull strings and she's already demanding a meeting with this supervisor, which I don't know who the supervisor is.
[00:28:47] I'm curious to see who that is.
[00:28:48] I can't wait to find out who that is.
[00:28:49] Bet they're super sketchy.
[00:28:51] Yeah.
[00:28:53] Yeah.
[00:28:54] And then even KB's parents are saying something about a health issue and, you know, mentioning her life monitor.
[00:28:59] And when they're talking about that, I was like, is there something with KB that we should worry about?
[00:29:04] Or are they just kind of being classic over worrying parents?
[00:29:07] We don't really know.
[00:29:09] I wondered.
[00:29:10] She has that visor that she pulls down.
[00:29:13] Like, why does she have that?
[00:29:15] Yeah.
[00:29:15] What is that about?
[00:29:17] There's definitely got to be an importance to that.
[00:29:20] Yeah.
[00:29:20] And we don't know yet, but we will.
[00:29:23] Hopefully they'll tell us.
[00:29:24] I would think they would tell us.
[00:29:26] Yeah.
[00:29:26] I'm hoping that they're not going to be completely heartless and just never explain the little things that we need to know.
[00:29:33] No, I feel we'll be covered on things in due time.
[00:29:37] Yeah.
[00:29:37] And the kids get mixed up with, because of these old Republic credits that Ad Atten uses, they kind of become this, they stick out very well from these pirates.
[00:29:49] And get mixed up with Brutus and his gang, which is used to be Captain Silvo's gang, who is Jodna Nawood.
[00:29:59] Crimson Jack.
[00:30:01] He has many names.
[00:30:03] Yes.
[00:30:04] Captain Silvo, Crimson Jack, Jodna Nawood.
[00:30:08] What other monikers can he rack up over the course of this series?
[00:30:11] We'll see.
[00:30:11] I don't know.
[00:30:12] I think there are more.
[00:30:14] I do.
[00:30:15] Yeah.
[00:30:16] But yep.
[00:30:17] His old crew, which is now run by Captain Brutus.
[00:30:21] The wolf pirate.
[00:30:22] Yes.
[00:30:25] Which is interesting.
[00:30:26] We'll see a lot from them, I'm sure.
[00:30:28] And very interested in a lot of their stuff.
[00:30:30] But yeah.
[00:30:31] Kind of run afoul of them and get thrown in the brig where they meet Jodna Nawood, Jude Law.
[00:30:38] Uh, and then learn something special about him and his abilities.
[00:30:45] Yeah.
[00:30:45] I thought that Wim was going to lose it.
[00:30:48] My gosh.
[00:30:50] Just Wim's whole thing.
[00:30:53] Like, I mean, because Fern goes right to the point.
[00:30:55] Like, you know, assuming he's after the treasure of Ad Atten.
[00:30:58] She can read people way better than overly trusting Wim, for sure.
[00:31:03] Yes.
[00:31:03] I don't know if you can trust Jod, Crimson Jack.
[00:31:07] Like, I don't know if you can trust him.
[00:31:10] Right.
[00:31:11] Yeah.
[00:31:12] But to that point, it's like, of course, when Jod introduces himself, the boys immediately say their names and the girls stay silent.
[00:31:18] Like, he's like, yeah, you can see where, like, the mentality and things lie between these characters, these kids.
[00:31:27] Yeah, the girls are more strategic and keeping their cards close to their chest.
[00:31:34] The boys are spilling whatever.
[00:31:36] Yeah.
[00:31:37] Which, again, with Wim, what we've learned is he's obsessed with all these things, all things Jedi.
[00:31:43] He's got the action figures.
[00:31:44] He's got that really cool tablet thing that he's just constantly.
[00:31:47] Oh, I love that.
[00:31:48] Right.
[00:31:49] Just scanning through and reading all these stories of Jedis and heroes.
[00:31:53] And he's just, that's all he's so obsessed with.
[00:31:58] So that's, yeah, really cool.
[00:32:00] And then, of course, when he fails at this shortcut and comes across the starship, he sees, like, the symbol on the door and immediately is the Jedi Temple.
[00:32:11] And he just is obsessed with it.
[00:32:13] Like, obviously, he's not going to let that go.
[00:32:15] So, um...
[00:32:17] And his father probably should have known.
[00:32:19] Right.
[00:32:19] That he was not going to let it go.
[00:32:21] I mean, this is his kid.
[00:32:24] He has raised him.
[00:32:26] He knows his kid is going to be inquisitive and curious.
[00:32:32] And he's going to go and dig around.
[00:32:34] It's just going to happen.
[00:32:36] Yeah.
[00:32:36] So as you mentioned, like, the way he behaves with Jod versus the others.
[00:32:41] I love...
[00:32:42] I...
[00:32:43] It stuck out to me and I had to make a note about it.
[00:32:45] I love, like, when they're escaping after the...
[00:32:47] You know, Jod gets the keys.
[00:32:49] And at the beginning of episode three, where he's kind of leading them down the corridor, the absolute joyous smile on Wim's face as they're escaping this brig area.
[00:32:59] He is barely able to contain any level of excitement that he's finally on a real adventure in space with a Jedi.
[00:33:07] Like, he's just...
[00:33:08] And he's nerding out about every single thing that Jod says or does.
[00:33:12] He's like, oh, he did that because of the Force.
[00:33:14] He knows how to...
[00:33:14] Oh, like, he's just...
[00:33:16] He's such a fanboy.
[00:33:18] And he cannot help it.
[00:33:19] I think fanboy is the perfect word for it.
[00:33:24] Yeah.
[00:33:25] He hangs on his every word.
[00:33:27] He'll do whatever he tells him to do.
[00:33:30] It's like, man, you've known him for an hour and he's already got such a force over your life.
[00:33:40] I don't think that you should be so trusting.
[00:33:42] And I appreciate that KB and Fern are on this adventure too and can at least push for answers where you need to push for answers.
[00:33:54] Yeah.
[00:33:55] And I do like the one place that Wim does push back on Jod pretty quickly is with SM33.
[00:34:03] That the kids are all very loyal there.
[00:34:05] It's like, no, 33 saved us, so we're not going to leave him behind.
[00:34:09] Whether or not that's a Jedi thing.
[00:34:13] That's a these kids thing.
[00:34:14] That's a this crew thing.
[00:34:15] We're not leaving him behind.
[00:34:16] Of course, Jod's going to be the one sent to go get him because he's the Jedi, so to speak.
[00:34:21] Right.
[00:34:22] So you can get in and out.
[00:34:24] No problem.
[00:34:26] Which he does get in and out.
[00:34:27] But I don't know about no problem.
[00:34:28] It's a hot exit.
[00:34:31] Chased by guards.
[00:34:33] Caught on that very sturdy fuel line.
[00:34:35] Eventually ending with a hyperspace jump right out of the port.
[00:34:40] So I loved when Jod went to the droid hospital.
[00:34:44] And he's turning them on to try to figure out which one is the one.
[00:34:48] And one guy's like, we've got to protect the prince.
[00:34:50] And he runs off.
[00:34:51] And the other one's head falls off.
[00:34:53] My name is Zithi.
[00:34:54] Nope, that's not it.
[00:34:54] Oh, no.
[00:34:55] Yeah, the one that's head falls off.
[00:34:57] It's an old separatist battle droid.
[00:35:00] Which goes back to Clone Wars.
[00:35:03] And then the episodes 1, 2, and 3.
[00:35:06] All those battle droids from there.
[00:35:08] Which, obviously, the separatists lost that war.
[00:35:13] You know, the Clone Wars and things.
[00:35:15] And a lot of those were deactivated.
[00:35:17] And because if you notice what it says when he turns it on, he goes, did we win?
[00:35:20] And it's like, nope.
[00:35:21] Nope.
[00:35:22] Not quite.
[00:35:23] No.
[00:35:24] And your head is on the side now.
[00:35:27] So we'll move along now.
[00:35:30] For a minute, I thought he was going to fix SM-33 while they were in the droid hospital.
[00:35:38] Because he was looking at parts and stuff.
[00:35:40] And then he just piles them up and is wheeling him out.
[00:35:43] Which, that was all very Spielberg-influenced.
[00:35:46] That was all one shot.
[00:35:48] Wow.
[00:35:48] When he's talking to his old crewmate, which was voiced by Alfred Molina.
[00:35:53] Yes, I did read that.
[00:35:56] It's very cool.
[00:35:57] But yeah, really cool stuff there.
[00:36:00] Yeah, so many notes there.
[00:36:01] Just like, we can bounce back and forth forever.
[00:36:03] But yeah, we'll just nerd out and talk about things.
[00:36:06] Because, yeah, back on the ship though, like a lot of great comedic simple shots that I do love.
[00:36:12] Like the kids hungrily staring at Jod while he's finishing up his bowl of whatever it is that he's eating.
[00:36:17] And they're just like-
[00:36:18] It was green.
[00:36:20] But he made food for all of them.
[00:36:22] Aw, he cares.
[00:36:22] Wasn't that nice?
[00:36:24] But did he put something in it?
[00:36:25] That was my first thought.
[00:36:27] Has he drugged the rest of it?
[00:36:30] I've been covering, you know, horror movies on Run Fear Lies for too long.
[00:36:35] Right.
[00:36:35] Because I am so skeptical now of everyone.
[00:36:38] It's like, nope, I don't know if you can trust him, kids.
[00:36:42] Yeah, I think that running along and being part of a cult is kind of scary.
[00:36:47] So might want to step back.
[00:36:50] So I'm grateful that Fern and KB are kind of like pushing him because-
[00:36:56] Yeah.
[00:36:58] Yeah, it's not great to just run blindly just because he's got powers.
[00:37:03] And I know you've been dreaming about it for such a long time.
[00:37:07] And this is the adventure of a lifetime, Wim.
[00:37:11] But you might want to take a step back.
[00:37:14] Yeah.
[00:37:14] I will say the way that we're done here after episode three, kind of the end of episode three, definitely-
[00:37:22] They're still not going to fully trust him.
[00:37:24] There's still a lot of conversations and things need to happen.
[00:37:26] They know, I mean, at the point KB makes it like, okay, you're going to take us back to Ad-Aton.
[00:37:30] You want treasure.
[00:37:32] Like, you are a pirate still.
[00:37:34] Like, in some way, we'll make a deal.
[00:37:36] But it's like, but you work for us.
[00:37:38] You get us home.
[00:37:39] There's this kickback.
[00:37:39] There's a partnership here.
[00:37:42] And I think he's okay with that.
[00:37:44] Like, he's still kind of taking charge as the adult on the ship.
[00:37:47] Which makes sense.
[00:37:49] But I think after that escape from the moon that Kim is on, they trust him more.
[00:37:57] And I think he's definitely showed a lot of trust in them.
[00:38:00] I mean, I was with Wim.
[00:38:02] I'm like, Neil?
[00:38:03] Neil?
[00:38:04] You want Neil to pilot the ship on an escape?
[00:38:07] That's because, Wim, there's something better for you.
[00:38:11] Yeah, you put Fern and Wim on guns.
[00:38:15] Fern, I get.
[00:38:16] But do not put Wim on heavy artillery.
[00:38:19] He is way too into it.
[00:38:21] No.
[00:38:22] Oh, my gosh.
[00:38:23] Again, that just, like, absolute sheer joy on his face.
[00:38:27] Yes.
[00:38:28] You can't hide.
[00:38:29] And you're like, oh, what have you done by giving him this?
[00:38:33] And he's not shooting straight at first.
[00:38:35] He's just kind of blindly shooting whatever.
[00:38:37] Yeah.
[00:38:37] Just because he's so excited to have the opportunity to do something like that.
[00:38:42] Mm-hmm.
[00:38:43] And you could tell Fern's taking it much more seriously.
[00:38:47] Yeah.
[00:38:49] But he's living his best life, getting to do these things that he's just been dreaming of forever.
[00:38:56] Oh, yeah.
[00:38:57] Like, he's still kind of in this fantasy world, even though this is reality here.
[00:39:01] Where you go back to, what is it, episode two.
[00:39:03] Where Neil's like, don't we want to just go home?
[00:39:05] And he's like, why would we want to go home?
[00:39:07] We're out here on an adventure on a starship.
[00:39:10] And there's all this cool stuff.
[00:39:11] And home can wait, because this is really wizard right now.
[00:39:16] You know?
[00:39:16] Like, this is what we can do.
[00:39:18] So, I love that.
[00:39:20] The problem is, though, if you look at it from Neil's point of view, he misses his family.
[00:39:24] Oh, yeah.
[00:39:25] And that's a big difference.
[00:39:26] Yeah.
[00:39:26] There's a big difference between Neil's home life and family life and Wim's family life.
[00:39:34] Because Wim's father is gone a lot working.
[00:39:39] Neil's family is there.
[00:39:41] He's got younger siblings.
[00:39:42] His mother and father greet him when he gets home from school.
[00:39:45] There is just a closeness amongst his family that Wim doesn't have.
[00:39:53] And part of it, I think, is because his dad is a single dad.
[00:39:57] It's not like he can blow things off.
[00:40:01] He's the only breadwinner.
[00:40:03] He's trying to raise his son and make sure he has every opportunity.
[00:40:08] And it's very difficult for him.
[00:40:11] Mm-hmm.
[00:40:12] But I really felt for Wim multiple times, especially in the first episode, because I felt like his dad dismissed him.
[00:40:21] Didn't even take the time to read him a story.
[00:40:24] Yeah.
[00:40:25] That broke my heart.
[00:40:27] Mm-hmm.
[00:40:28] Because he really needed that.
[00:40:30] He was stressed out about the testing.
[00:40:34] He was, I think, missing his mother because he mentioned her.
[00:40:39] Mm-hmm.
[00:40:41] And I feel like he could have taken 10 minutes to read him a story.
[00:40:45] Yeah.
[00:40:46] Instead, he kind of patronizes him and says, aren't you getting a little old for that?
[00:40:51] Yeah.
[00:40:51] Yeah.
[00:40:52] It was really sad.
[00:40:53] There's a lot of, yeah, feeling for Wim that he is.
[00:40:56] He's just like on his own in his own house.
[00:40:59] Yeah.
[00:40:59] His dad's there, but just to kind of, yeah, give him money and tell him what he needs to do.
[00:41:05] And then he's just gone.
[00:41:06] Uh, yeah, it's, there's not a lot of social anything for Wim other than, than his friends.
[00:41:14] It really kneel.
[00:41:15] And so this opportunity, of course, he's going to just throw everything to the wind and just be like, we're doing this because it's something different.
[00:41:24] I'm ready to shake things up because I'm tired of just not ever having or doing anything or anyone.
[00:41:30] I need something.
[00:41:31] And yeah, so that's definitely Wim's driving force.
[00:41:35] You have to wonder too, if, I mean, he doesn't look at it the way that other people would, but he looks at his life as being kind of mundane and boring.
[00:41:43] Mm-hmm.
[00:41:44] Whereas people who don't live on at Aten probably are longing for something that's stable and simple and mundane.
[00:41:53] Yeah.
[00:41:54] Because the daily life is kind of crazy.
[00:41:56] At least when we go to Port Borgo and see all the madness there, you can just imagine that, you know, there are people that are wanting that quiet life.
[00:42:09] Yeah.
[00:42:09] I did wonder though, if they do make it back to at Aten with Jod, I'm not sure that the people there would let him leave.
[00:42:21] Yeah.
[00:42:22] Because, I mean, I feel like even like people like Fern's mother have no idea what's going on.
[00:42:27] This is generational.
[00:42:29] If it's been going on, if this is trapped within some weird, you know, bubble of old Republic times where it's just generations of people, they're just citizens living here within whatever little mini world is going on.
[00:42:44] I mean, they don't even know about the Clone Wars and the Galactic Civil War and all this stuff.
[00:42:49] They somehow just missed everybody on at Aten.
[00:42:52] Like they're in their own little bubble outside of everything else going on in the galaxy.
[00:42:57] I remember, I think it was Fern or KB that brought up Alderaan.
[00:43:01] Yeah.
[00:43:04] So that's...
[00:43:06] I'll circle back to that because a lot of thoughts on at Aten that I'll get to.
[00:43:12] It was like, oh yeah, let me do that now.
[00:43:14] Because I'm going to open that can of worms and then it's going to be a whole thing.
[00:43:17] So we'll get there.
[00:43:20] I don't think we're sticking to points very well.
[00:43:22] Not very well, but that's okay.
[00:43:24] We're just going to...
[00:43:25] It's because you can't take the run for your lives out of us.
[00:43:28] No.
[00:43:29] We want to talk about everything at the same time.
[00:43:32] It can't help it.
[00:43:33] It's how it goes.
[00:43:35] It's...
[00:43:35] Yeah.
[00:43:38] It's conversation.
[00:43:39] We're having fun.
[00:43:41] Yeah.
[00:43:42] So long way of saying what I was saying earlier.
[00:43:45] But yeah, that trust is being built, I think, even a lot on Jod's part with giving them...
[00:43:50] He's like, Neil, you're piloting.
[00:43:53] We're putting these two kids on the guns.
[00:43:55] KB is booting and programming the hyperspace drive the whole time.
[00:44:00] And he's giving them these tasks and trusting them to do them.
[00:44:05] He doesn't have to give KB anything.
[00:44:07] She just does it.
[00:44:09] She's very capable.
[00:44:10] She's in tune with what's going on.
[00:44:12] It cracked me up when SM33 is showing them all like, well, this does this and this does
[00:44:17] this and this is this drive and this is that.
[00:44:19] And the kids are all just staring at him blankly like, none of this is...
[00:44:23] Making any sense.
[00:44:24] ...the language I even know.
[00:44:25] And KB goes, yeah, okay, got it.
[00:44:27] Clearly, it made sense to her.
[00:44:29] She gets it.
[00:44:29] She's like, all right, cool.
[00:44:31] Got it.
[00:44:33] Yeah, she's the one I think that could fly the ship if she needed to.
[00:44:38] But right now, things seem to be under control.
[00:44:41] She's great on the engineer position.
[00:44:43] She's killing it.
[00:44:44] Yeah, it's perfect.
[00:44:48] Yeah, I was trying to think if there's other little notes about them that I have.
[00:44:54] Because I mentioned a lot of them.
[00:44:56] Fern.
[00:44:58] We've talked a little bit about her, you know, top marks in school.
[00:45:01] Big expectations from her mother, but she's still got this rebellious adventure spirit.
[00:45:05] Little note that I don't know if you picked up on.
[00:45:09] Her jacket.
[00:45:10] She turns it inside out.
[00:45:12] Yeah, she's always wearing it inside out to where it's blue.
[00:45:16] Except for the one time we see her with it the right way, where like the tan or brown on
[00:45:21] the outside is when she's at home with her mother.
[00:45:24] Yeah, she changes it up at home.
[00:45:27] But every other time, like when she's at school or even now.
[00:45:32] Yeah.
[00:45:33] When they're on the spaceship, she's got it inside out.
[00:45:37] Yeah, I noticed that.
[00:45:38] It's just like this little thing, like just little ways that she can do her own thing.
[00:45:43] And it's...
[00:45:44] Yeah, so as you said, I think there will be more vulnerability eventually.
[00:45:49] Like she's somebody who...
[00:45:52] I called her like a natural born leader and she's strong willed and she's definitely on top of things.
[00:45:58] But even people like that, there's going to be this layer where eventually something's going to break
[00:46:03] and all these expectations and people looking up to her is going to be too much at some point.
[00:46:08] And she's going to have to be able to be vulnerable and...
[00:46:11] Yeah.
[00:46:13] And be the person that needs to talk to somebody about something versus being in charge of something.
[00:46:19] Definitely.
[00:46:20] I want to shout out the actress, Ryan Kiera Armstrong.
[00:46:24] Mm-hmm.
[00:46:25] Because I had to go and look her up because I knew I had seen her like in a bunch of things.
[00:46:31] And she was in It Chapter 2.
[00:46:34] She was in Black Widow.
[00:46:35] She played the young Antonia.
[00:46:37] She was in The Tomorrow War as young Muri.
[00:46:41] Okay.
[00:46:42] Okay.
[00:46:42] Yeah.
[00:46:43] She played Charlie McGee in the Firestarter reboot, which I didn't like.
[00:46:50] But it wasn't because of her.
[00:46:52] Yeah.
[00:46:53] It was because of what they did with the story.
[00:46:55] So I think she's fantastic.
[00:46:59] Yeah.
[00:46:59] I'm looking forward to seeing what else that she does.
[00:47:02] Because again, that natural born leader sometimes takes advantage of that situation.
[00:47:08] I love it.
[00:47:08] She's just manipulating the boys into doing all the dirty work.
[00:47:11] Be like, well, we're not strong enough to dig and stuff.
[00:47:16] So I don't know.
[00:47:17] It's like, oh, we could do it.
[00:47:18] We could do it.
[00:47:19] Oh, if you think you can handle it.
[00:47:20] You know, just clearly.
[00:47:24] Letting them do it.
[00:47:25] I mean, why not?
[00:47:28] And then just like, these boys are so dumb.
[00:47:29] You know, like, Captain Fern.
[00:47:33] Just that moment where she's like, you know, when SM33 wakes up and it's always, where's
[00:47:38] the captain?
[00:47:38] Where's the captain?
[00:47:39] She takes that moment to like, make the smart move and be like, I'm the kid.
[00:47:45] Look at me.
[00:47:45] I am the captain now.
[00:47:46] No, but.
[00:47:48] And it cracks me up so much.
[00:47:50] That moment where she tells SM33, I killed your captain.
[00:47:53] And Neil.
[00:47:55] There's this gas, loud gasp from Neil.
[00:47:58] And I busted out laughing.
[00:47:59] I was like, is she that convincing?
[00:48:03] Like, Neil is precious and should be protected at all costs.
[00:48:06] I love him so much.
[00:48:07] But just that gasp of shock.
[00:48:10] I killed your captain.
[00:48:11] Like, Neil, you know she.
[00:48:13] Okay.
[00:48:14] You know, another trait that she and Wim have in common is their imagination.
[00:48:22] Her coming up with that story and he's always coming up with these creative things.
[00:48:30] They share a lot in common and I'm just wondering if that's why they bought heads so much.
[00:48:37] Yeah.
[00:48:38] Wim.
[00:48:38] I don't want to be captain.
[00:48:39] Well, you could fight to the death.
[00:48:41] It's like, no, that's fine.
[00:48:41] I was like, no.
[00:48:43] That was so funny.
[00:48:44] Just let her have it.
[00:48:45] When 33 said that, well, as a member of the crew, you can challenge the captain to a fight to the death.
[00:48:53] And I just was like, no.
[00:48:56] She can be captain.
[00:48:58] At the starport, Fern popping in with that blaster shooting up in the air.
[00:49:03] I'm like, boss move for sure.
[00:49:06] She shows a lot of that, like that gutsiness.
[00:49:10] After SM33 is taken down and Brutus is asking about where did they come from?
[00:49:15] Find out what we need to know.
[00:49:17] And she just goes, we're right here.
[00:49:19] You got a question for us?
[00:49:20] Ask us yourself.
[00:49:21] I'm like, man, she's brave.
[00:49:23] Very bold.
[00:49:25] But again, these kids grew up in a very sheltered environment.
[00:49:30] I don't think that they realized how much danger they were in.
[00:49:35] Although that one woman tries to tell them, kids are not safe here.
[00:49:39] This is not a place for you to be.
[00:49:42] But I also loved when they kind of said to 33, why did you bring us to a pirate port?
[00:49:49] And he said, well, because we're pirates.
[00:49:51] Because that's what the ship was.
[00:49:53] Yeah.
[00:49:53] It's a pirate ship.
[00:49:55] So they're learning as they go.
[00:49:57] Yeah.
[00:49:58] It's yeah.
[00:49:59] There's a lot that they need to learn and understand and a lot of growing that they need to do.
[00:50:05] Yeah.
[00:50:05] And she's not afraid to show some sass to authority figures or adults or people around her.
[00:50:13] Even again, when Jod is getting them out of there and it's constantly like, why would we trust him?
[00:50:18] Why?
[00:50:18] And she's just kind of pushing back on him at little things.
[00:50:21] And I love that moment where, you know, because Wim is like, he knew somebody was coming because he used the force.
[00:50:26] And then KB stops them and is like, so I guess KB's got the force too.
[00:50:30] And I'm like, just that sass comes out.
[00:50:34] Yeah.
[00:50:34] Which then Jod has the force through, the force flows through us all.
[00:50:38] But, um, of course.
[00:50:42] Yeah.
[00:50:42] But even then she's still a kid because one of the cutest little things, it's those like classic kid moments, which just is like, oh, adorable.
[00:50:51] Is that moment?
[00:50:51] It's classic.
[00:50:53] You know, but I'm not even tired.
[00:50:54] And then cut immediately to her just passed out.
[00:50:57] And you're like, yeah.
[00:50:59] Yeah.
[00:50:59] And I suppose you weren't hungry either, despite your bellies growling.
[00:51:04] Okay.
[00:51:05] Yeah.
[00:51:06] They've been through a lot.
[00:51:07] This was such a short period of time and they went through a lot.
[00:51:13] Yeah.
[00:51:13] For kids that lived, you know, this quiet sheltered life where they didn't even really know much about anything outside of At-Atten.
[00:51:22] Mm-hmm.
[00:51:22] And they're basically in the frying pan now because they're in the middle of a pirate port and people are chasing them and they're having to shoot guns and it's a lot.
[00:51:35] Oh, yeah.
[00:51:36] Again, when him and Fern sitting outside the school office.
[00:51:41] Yeah.
[00:51:42] I saw your bike.
[00:51:42] It's totally wizard.
[00:51:44] I was like, I love it.
[00:51:45] I'm making it happen.
[00:51:46] We're bringing wizard back to our vocabulary.
[00:51:49] I've been making it.
[00:51:50] I love it.
[00:51:51] I know it's some people like the first time it's heard is Phantom Menace and that movie leaves a sour taste in a lot of people's mouths for a lot of very valid reasons.
[00:52:04] I mean, I did stop watching the films after that one.
[00:52:08] Yeah.
[00:52:08] But but wizards come back.
[00:52:10] Din Djarin Mandalorian uses it.
[00:52:12] And then now Wim has said it a couple times and I'm like, yes.
[00:52:18] They say it.
[00:52:19] The Mandalorian.
[00:52:19] Like Din Djarin and Wim can make that can make wizard happen again.
[00:52:23] We're going to make it cool.
[00:52:25] We're going to bring it back.
[00:52:26] We're bringing wizard back.
[00:52:28] To quote Regina George from Mean Girls.
[00:52:33] Peg wizard is not going to happen.
[00:52:36] Stop trying to make wizard happen.
[00:52:37] It's not.
[00:52:38] No, it's wizard is definitely going to happen.
[00:52:41] We're bringing it back.
[00:52:41] It's totally wizard.
[00:52:42] Wizard.
[00:52:43] You have been using that term so many times.
[00:52:46] Yeah.
[00:52:46] I'm doing my part.
[00:52:48] Okay.
[00:52:49] This is a mission.
[00:52:51] Okay.
[00:52:52] I am on the path of bringing back wizard.
[00:52:56] Okay.
[00:52:56] So if anybody agrees with me, stand with me, brothers and sisters.
[00:53:01] And make wizard happen once more.
[00:53:05] Yeah.
[00:53:06] So yeah.
[00:53:06] Don't tell Wim not to touch anything.
[00:53:08] Because he definitely has to now touch anything.
[00:53:10] That seemed to be the ongoing theme.
[00:53:12] Like that was said so many times in these first three episodes.
[00:53:16] Don't touch anything.
[00:53:17] Don't touch anything.
[00:53:18] And honestly, all that does is get a kid to want to touch it.
[00:53:23] They can't help themselves.
[00:53:25] Right.
[00:53:26] They want to.
[00:53:26] If nobody would tell him not to touch something, he never would.
[00:53:30] No.
[00:53:31] You can't make something off limits because that just increases the intrigue and excitement about it.
[00:53:38] Yeah.
[00:53:39] And another little thing I noticed about Wim is he really loves using the whole like skidding to a stop kind of maneuver where he's running and then he slides across the floor and comes to a stop.
[00:53:50] Very John Hughes kind of thing.
[00:53:54] I know.
[00:53:55] I almost wondered if maybe he should have some wheelies or something.
[00:53:59] There he goes.
[00:54:00] There he goes.
[00:54:02] KB and Neil.
[00:54:04] Neil's got a little crush on Runa.
[00:54:07] Oh my goodness.
[00:54:08] But he doesn't even talk to her.
[00:54:10] Nope.
[00:54:11] And I love that Wim is teasing him about it.
[00:54:14] Yeah.
[00:54:15] Well, it's KB that says it because she's using that voice modulator she has through her visor and stuff.
[00:54:20] And she goes, where it's like, you are in violation of protocol.
[00:54:24] You're not where you're not supposed to be.
[00:54:26] And then it's like, you know, you know, cooperate now or you'll be vaporized.
[00:54:31] And like, they're all freaking out.
[00:54:32] And he's like, quick, who do you have a crush on at school?
[00:54:34] And he just goes, Runa.
[00:54:37] Oh, he fell for that so fast.
[00:54:39] It was adorable.
[00:54:42] Yeah.
[00:54:43] It was adorable.
[00:54:44] Yeah.
[00:54:45] She's great.
[00:54:46] The control panel, as soon as she sees it, like she just goes into the zone.
[00:54:50] She's like, I know what to do.
[00:54:51] Time for me to do my thing.
[00:54:53] Yep.
[00:54:53] She plugs it in.
[00:54:55] Makes it work.
[00:54:56] Her popping up out of the hatch.
[00:54:58] You know, where's KB?
[00:55:00] It goes down here.
[00:55:02] You know, I love it.
[00:55:04] She's way ahead of everyone because she's that intuitive when it comes to technology.
[00:55:09] She's on it.
[00:55:10] Yeah.
[00:55:11] Just let her go.
[00:55:12] She's got it.
[00:55:12] But Jod, I guess, throw him into the group.
[00:55:15] He's here with him.
[00:55:17] Which, yeah, he's interesting.
[00:55:20] Again, he has force abilities.
[00:55:23] We see that.
[00:55:25] Using the force to pull the keys back to them.
[00:55:27] He's doing a little force push to distract the guards to help them get out.
[00:55:32] Turns off the lights.
[00:55:33] There's different things that he's doing in the music.
[00:55:36] The music cue when he's pulling those keys over there.
[00:55:38] That is the force theme.
[00:55:43] Love it.
[00:55:44] Gave me chills.
[00:55:46] Legit chills.
[00:55:47] But Captain Silvo, he's got Jedi abilities.
[00:55:52] He's force sensitive.
[00:55:53] He's not a Jedi.
[00:55:55] Jedi.
[00:55:56] And I'm very interested in seeing his backstory and who he is.
[00:56:02] This like, was he a Jedi at some point?
[00:56:04] Or is he just this like force sensitive person who chose a different path?
[00:56:08] But then how is he?
[00:56:09] You still have to be trained in those ways in some degree.
[00:56:13] So, yeah, can't wait to find out.
[00:56:16] It's another mystery in the show.
[00:56:18] One of the many that I'm just very intrigued by and have to keep coming back every week.
[00:56:23] Yeah, I want to know who he is.
[00:56:26] Because I feel like there's more there than what we're getting.
[00:56:29] And he's got so many aliases now.
[00:56:31] I mean, who is he really?
[00:56:33] Is he really Jod?
[00:56:34] Is he Jack?
[00:56:36] Is he Captain Silvo?
[00:56:38] Well, he's not a captain anymore.
[00:56:40] Getting to see him at the beginning when they show us his ship taking over the other ship.
[00:56:47] Yeah.
[00:56:49] And you see that the people on the other ship.
[00:56:52] I mean, the way that they boarded it, though, the way that they lined up against the ship.
[00:56:57] And it just made me think of like old school movies with boats where pirates would board.
[00:57:05] And it just, the way it looked was so cool.
[00:57:10] The tubes like planks being thrown from ship to ship.
[00:57:14] And them swinging on ropes, basically, to like board.
[00:57:17] But it's also a nod to just Darth Vader and the stormtroopers in the first Star Wars.
[00:57:25] You know, coming on onto the ship where, you know, all of the people on the ship are all holding places on the walls waiting for somebody to come through.
[00:57:34] And then just getting demolished as the pirates in this case do come through.
[00:57:38] A lot of Star Wars nods to itself.
[00:57:42] A lot of Easter eggs and stuff there and visuals.
[00:57:45] Which was great.
[00:57:47] Yeah.
[00:57:48] Kim sees Jod with a group of kids and immediately assumes he clearly kidnapped them.
[00:57:51] So I'm like, well, what kind of past does he have to speak to that?
[00:57:53] And I was like, well, he was a deadly pirate captain.
[00:57:55] So there is that.
[00:57:57] Yeah.
[00:57:58] I mean, he did go through a mutiny.
[00:58:01] Because he ended up in that jail cell for a reason.
[00:58:04] And that's because Brutus the wolf pirate turned captain.
[00:58:07] They had to kick him out because he didn't deliver a million times.
[00:58:13] Yeah.
[00:58:13] They wanted something and he never delivered.
[00:58:16] Yeah.
[00:58:16] This mission ends with one single credit.
[00:58:19] Which because there's only one credit.
[00:58:21] Like, it almost feels like a purposeful dig.
[00:58:26] Mm-hmm.
[00:58:27] Like it was a setup or something.
[00:58:29] I was like, either is Brutus somehow set it up himself as a way to gain control from Captain Silvo?
[00:58:35] Could be.
[00:58:36] Or is there another pirate involved in this scheme?
[00:58:41] Somebody like, oh, I don't know.
[00:58:42] Can we get a live action Hondo Anaka, please?
[00:58:45] That's the cameo I want.
[00:58:47] Which that is a name I know.
[00:58:49] You're like, I see your face.
[00:58:50] Like, eh, I don't know.
[00:58:51] I have no idea who that is.
[00:58:53] A wonderful Weequay pirate from the Clone Wars and Rebels.
[00:58:56] And it's all just been animated.
[00:58:58] There is, like, he's...
[00:59:00] I think he's in, like, the Star Wars, like, start...
[00:59:03] Like, the stuff at Disney.
[00:59:05] Like, World Land.
[00:59:07] Both.
[00:59:07] Maybe.
[00:59:07] I don't know.
[00:59:08] Haven't been.
[00:59:10] But yeah, he's got his own little, like, setup there.
[00:59:12] But he's never been done in live action.
[00:59:14] But he's a beloved character from Clone Wars.
[00:59:16] And he shows up in Rebels.
[00:59:18] So I'm hoping we finally get a live action Hondo in this show at some point.
[00:59:24] Which, when they show up to the Borgo starport...
[00:59:29] I mean, Brutus' big giant ship that used to be Silbo's was there.
[00:59:33] You see it clearly.
[00:59:35] But also, one of them looks like it could be the Katooni, which is Hondo Anaka's ship.
[00:59:40] So I'm holding out for that live action debut.
[00:59:43] Let's go.
[00:59:45] So, if he appears in a future episode, I'm gonna hear you all the way from Texas.
[00:59:49] Probably.
[00:59:50] That's what you're saying.
[00:59:51] I'm ready for some Hondo.
[00:59:51] Let's go.
[00:59:54] So I know we've broken from, like, topics.
[00:59:57] But, like, while I'm in, like, talking about these, like, pirates and stuff.
[00:59:59] I'm like, I got notes, like...
[01:00:02] Vane.
[01:00:02] We see Vane.
[01:00:03] One of Brutus' crew.
[01:00:05] Used to be Silbo's crew.
[01:00:06] Which, you have seen him.
[01:00:09] He was previously in The Mandalorian.
[01:00:11] He was part of Gorian Shard's crew that was on Navarro.
[01:00:15] That did manage...
[01:00:16] After Shard's ship is destroyed, Vane can escape and get away.
[01:00:20] So it seems like now Vane is a part of Brutus' crew.
[01:00:26] Brutus has quite the crew.
[01:00:28] I mean, it really was Silbo's crew.
[01:00:31] Yeah.
[01:00:32] But Brutus has inherited it, basically.
[01:00:35] That's what happens.
[01:00:36] You assemble something.
[01:00:38] Get this, you know, tough group of people.
[01:00:42] And then someone takes it out from under you.
[01:00:45] Yeah.
[01:00:46] Which was that crew, Jaleel White as Gunter.
[01:00:50] That's cool.
[01:00:51] We haven't seen a lot of him yet, but I'm intrigued.
[01:00:53] And I feel like we'll definitely see more.
[01:00:55] I was not expecting him on this show.
[01:00:59] That is not something I was expecting.
[01:01:03] At all.
[01:01:04] Yeah.
[01:01:05] So that was quite a surprise.
[01:01:06] I'm like, okay.
[01:01:09] This is not what I thought.
[01:01:12] So we'll see where this goes.
[01:01:14] He seems competent.
[01:01:17] Whether or not he is, we'll have to wait and see.
[01:01:21] SM-33.
[01:01:21] I love a lot.
[01:01:23] See him wreck shop on those pirates when Vane grabs Fern's blaster from her.
[01:01:28] And then SM-33 is like, no.
[01:01:31] And we get some really cool scenes with that little fight.
[01:01:34] Like the effect of the blaster bolts from this warthog alien, you know, heating up the shield.
[01:01:40] And then him searing him with it.
[01:01:42] And then he's just decimating anyone that has the gall to step to him or any of the kids.
[01:01:48] He's just punching everyone.
[01:01:50] It's amazing.
[01:01:52] And in that scene, the little details I noticed.
[01:01:55] I think KB is just looking at him with sheer admiration that whole time.
[01:02:00] It's so adorable.
[01:02:02] But it's like, yeah.
[01:02:04] Nick Frost doing the voice was also something I didn't expect.
[01:02:08] And so that was a lot of fun.
[01:02:11] Yeah.
[01:02:12] And the first thing he's focused on when he wakes up is his captain.
[01:02:16] And I hope to learn more about the previous captain of that ship and the crew who are now skeletons.
[01:02:22] Skeleton crew.
[01:02:23] You know, what their mission was.
[01:02:25] How long ago?
[01:02:26] Why were they on AT-AT?
[01:02:27] And I want all of those mysteries revealed at some point.
[01:02:30] It'd be interesting.
[01:02:31] Yeah.
[01:02:31] Those are questions I have.
[01:02:33] Like, how long was the ship there?
[01:02:35] Why were they there?
[01:02:37] Why did they end up dead on the ship?
[01:02:40] Like, why didn't they leave the ship?
[01:02:42] What Vern was telling the story about, you know, the sewer system and the new building development and the gassing that was going on.
[01:02:51] I mean, that was a very clever story.
[01:02:53] But I don't believe that is what happened.
[01:02:56] This is a much different outcome.
[01:02:58] Although that story was very familiar to Goonies fans.
[01:03:03] It's kind of got a same vibe.
[01:03:05] It does.
[01:03:06] Yes.
[01:03:08] Yeah.
[01:03:09] Let's see.
[01:03:09] Yeah.
[01:03:09] The starport isn't Moss Isley, but it's still quite the wretched hive of scum and villainy.
[01:03:17] Yeah.
[01:03:18] SM33.
[01:03:18] Of course, the name SM33.
[01:03:21] A nod to Smee from Peter Pan, Captain Hook's boat swing and right-hand man.
[01:03:26] Very clumsy type of right-hand man that served a lot of comedic relief and stuff in that.
[01:03:32] I can see SM33 doing that in this movie.
[01:03:35] Like I said, he was like a drunken sailor to me.
[01:03:37] Yeah.
[01:03:38] The way he was walking was all over the place.
[01:03:41] That's what was in my head.
[01:03:43] That song.
[01:03:44] When I saw him for the first time.
[01:03:47] I loved him trying to intimidate Jod, which to be fair, kind of does work.
[01:03:54] The kids really need him to do that.
[01:03:57] Although, yes, Fern is wonderful at standing up to him.
[01:04:01] I think they need someone else, not just her, being the voice of reason.
[01:04:07] I think KB is also on board now, but having SM33 be able to do that as well, I think is important.
[01:04:15] Because someone's got to protect the kids, because I don't know that we can trust him.
[01:04:22] Jod is still really...
[01:04:25] Yeah, I don't know.
[01:04:27] So many mysteries.
[01:04:29] Yeah.
[01:04:29] And then his connection with Kim.
[01:04:32] Interested to know the way that she kind of reacts to him.
[01:04:36] Which...
[01:04:37] Kim, yeah, we don't get a lot of her, but very interesting stuff.
[01:04:40] The whole...
[01:04:41] While we're on her moon, and with her, the closing scene of episode three with her, the score has this very theremin forward, which is a very interesting touch.
[01:04:51] Very unique.
[01:04:52] I don't know if I've heard that in Star Wars before, and I thought that was really cool.
[01:04:56] And of course, she calls in the two New Republic X-Wings.
[01:05:01] So, like, that's interesting to me.
[01:05:03] I was kind of hoping to see Carson Teva, but no.
[01:05:06] Of course, there's Paul Sun-Hyung Lee's character.
[01:05:10] He's a New Republic pilot.
[01:05:13] Which, he's in The Mandalorian and Ahsoka and stuff, so you saw him in there.
[01:05:17] You might see him.
[01:05:18] You might.
[01:05:19] I was kind of hoping we might see him, but who knows?
[01:05:21] We still have five episodes.
[01:05:23] He's holding this whole universe together, right?
[01:05:28] We stay in Carson Teva.
[01:05:29] And then, like, I think just a random other casting thing that I have in here is Wim's father, Wendell.
[01:05:35] Played by Tunde Adabempe.
[01:05:37] Are you gonna tell me what band he was in?
[01:05:39] Yeah.
[01:05:40] I was gonna say, he's a great actor, writer.
[01:05:42] He was in Twisters, which we covered on The Free Lives recently and stuff.
[01:05:46] He's in a lot of really cool stuff.
[01:05:48] But also, yes, I've seen his band live.
[01:05:50] I've got videos of seeing TV on the radio, which they're great.
[01:05:54] Love them.
[01:05:54] So, yeah.
[01:05:56] Yeah, I had a feeling.
[01:05:58] Yeah, it's always good to see him.
[01:06:00] But yeah, that's me just rambling on with notes about characters.
[01:06:04] So before I get into At At and stuff, I need to hand it back to you if you have other points that you want to talk about before I open up that bucket.
[01:06:13] Well, can we please talk about Snowball for just a second?
[01:06:18] And Snowball, of course, is a little four-eyed rat creature that lived inside SM-33.
[01:06:24] SM-33?
[01:06:25] Okay, you knew I was gonna talk about him.
[01:06:27] He was so cute, but he scared Neil.
[01:06:30] Mm-hmm.
[01:06:31] And then by the end, they're buddies now.
[01:06:33] Yeah.
[01:06:35] Because he didn't want Jod to not get him as well because he's got to come too.
[01:06:42] Like, you have to go get SM-33 and we need the little creature that lives inside him.
[01:06:49] Yeah.
[01:06:49] But I guess his name is Snowball.
[01:06:51] That's at least what I read online.
[01:06:53] I hadn't seen that yet, but I like it.
[01:06:57] Yeah, which is really cool.
[01:06:58] Like, it seems kind of weird.
[01:06:59] Like, this just kind of strange creature, this little rat thing that lives in his eye.
[01:07:02] But again, it plays up to the whole, like, pirate kind of thing of everything.
[01:07:06] It does, right?
[01:07:07] Pirates have the, like, the parrot or monkey or something on their shoulder.
[01:07:11] So SM-33 has got a rat in his eye.
[01:07:14] But he's got to have his little something, you know?
[01:07:16] I mean, he needs an eye patch, honestly.
[01:07:20] So.
[01:07:21] When he popped out of there, I jumped a little bit.
[01:07:25] And then I watched how Neil reacted.
[01:07:27] And then later on we see their bodies.
[01:07:31] So I'm totally down with that.
[01:07:34] It's so cute.
[01:07:36] I love that Jod tells them that he saw that there was no need for him to escape.
[01:07:44] Because where was he going to go if he didn't have a ship?
[01:07:46] So he waited patiently until someone came in.
[01:07:49] I thought that was really smart.
[01:07:50] I'm like, okay, well.
[01:07:52] That's cool.
[01:07:55] I feel like one of these episodes is going to be called Don't Touch Anything.
[01:07:58] Because that's when everything's going to go to hell.
[01:08:01] That's the episode that Wim presses the detonation button.
[01:08:05] For sure.
[01:08:06] It is.
[01:08:07] Definitely.
[01:08:08] Yeah, it's got to happen.
[01:08:11] That is all that I have.
[01:08:13] I feel like we have talked about these characters and have done a great job.
[01:08:19] So let's move on and talk about At-Aton.
[01:08:23] The mystical world of At-Aton.
[01:08:26] The treasure that's there.
[01:08:29] That, you know, in the lore.
[01:08:32] Yeah.
[01:08:32] And a lot of these notes are kind of just circular.
[01:08:37] As I'm watching these episodes, I'm taking notes for each episode.
[01:08:40] And then I'm like, I feel like I have the same notes three times on some of these.
[01:08:43] Because they keep bringing up this mystery about At-Aton.
[01:08:45] But yeah, this planet is so sketchy.
[01:08:49] Like this focus on finance and the importance of raising the kids to focus on assigned career paths.
[01:08:54] In order to contribute to some great work.
[01:08:57] Leaving security and action to the droids.
[01:09:00] It sounds very separatist to me.
[01:09:02] In that way.
[01:09:04] Yes, I was concerned about that.
[01:09:06] And I could totally understand why Wim wants something else.
[01:09:10] Like it's all part of a...
[01:09:12] It's like you're part of a hive mind.
[01:09:15] Yeah.
[01:09:16] Yeah.
[01:09:17] Which I don't know if it is...
[01:09:17] The greater good.
[01:09:19] Some long-standing separatist holdout.
[01:09:21] Or if it is, it's just this bubble of an old Republic kind of way of thinking.
[01:09:26] Because that was also kind of that way too in some instances.
[01:09:31] But yeah, there's so much.
[01:09:32] Like the security droids, the safety droids at At-Aton are very sketchy to me.
[01:09:39] It's all very well.
[01:09:39] The supervisor wouldn't like this.
[01:09:41] And you can't do this.
[01:09:42] And you can't...
[01:09:42] And it's just like...
[01:09:43] That's against the law.
[01:09:44] Obviously there's a mystery behind it.
[01:09:45] But it just...
[01:09:46] It feels sinister and dark a little bit.
[01:09:48] I thought it was funny when one of the droids came and told Wim to get up here.
[01:09:57] And he's just like, how?
[01:09:58] Yeah.
[01:09:58] Like, how am I going to do that?
[01:10:00] I can't get up.
[01:10:01] I've tried to get up the side.
[01:10:03] It's not working.
[01:10:05] I mentioned, yeah, they hadn't even seen stars.
[01:10:07] It's this barrier and secret planet hiding itself away from the outside galaxy and its inhabitants.
[01:10:15] At-Aton is completely unknown to SM33 who has like the entire star map of the galaxy like in his brain basically.
[01:10:21] And it's like, I don't know, no At-Aton.
[01:10:25] And you have to wonder, if they crashed there, wouldn't he have that?
[01:10:30] Right.
[01:10:31] At least that memory in his head?
[01:10:32] Which we see his memory is a little weird because he keeps repeating certain things or going back to things.
[01:10:37] So was memory erased in order to hold things secret?
[01:10:43] Or did Snowball get in there and shoot away at the wires?
[01:10:49] Ah, a lot of, yeah, interesting.
[01:10:51] And then, yeah, you mentioned the pirates at Port Borgo only know the name through myth and legend.
[01:10:57] It's this world of treasure.
[01:10:58] It's almost like an Eldorado or something in their legends.
[01:11:02] It's like Atlantis.
[01:11:04] Yeah.
[01:11:04] Like, it exists, but only in legend and no one's ever seen it.
[01:11:09] And what are you talking about?
[01:11:11] And so I have questions like, how long has it been in existence?
[01:11:18] They don't...
[01:11:19] Does anyone know about what happened outside of the planet?
[01:11:23] Mm-hmm.
[01:11:23] If they're not communicating with anyone?
[01:11:25] It doesn't seem so.
[01:11:26] It seems like they're completely cut off.
[01:11:29] Even to the point of currency.
[01:11:31] They said the credits that the kids are using for lunch money.
[01:11:35] It's old Republic credits that...
[01:11:38] I mean, where we're at now, post-Empire, they've moved past that.
[01:11:41] Like, they're a rarity and are highly valuable to pirates and collectors and things that can use to kind of...
[01:11:46] But, yeah, they're...
[01:11:49] That's not a currency that anybody uses anymore.
[01:11:53] Yeah.
[01:11:54] It's all very old galaxy.
[01:11:57] I was gonna say old world, but it's...
[01:11:59] You know, uh...
[01:11:59] Old galaxy.
[01:12:00] Old galaxy.
[01:12:00] Uh, so, AT-AT is still using them for basic currency.
[01:12:04] And I don't have a great answer for that yet, other than maybe they're just in this bubble where they're just constantly living in an old Republic time where they just have completely sealed themselves off from anything that's happened since then.
[01:12:17] And then how many of these planets exist?
[01:12:20] Like, how many...
[01:12:21] There were nine.
[01:12:23] Okay.
[01:12:23] Uh, because that's...
[01:12:26] That's one of those things that, uh...
[01:12:29] Kim mentions.
[01:12:31] She rolls out the...
[01:12:33] Yeah.
[01:12:33] Not map of...
[01:12:36] You know, kind of the legend of that, where she says that there were these nine planets...
[01:12:42] That were the jewels of the Old Republic, that were hidden for whatever was on them.
[01:12:47] For whatever reason, they were hidden away for secrets, treasure, whatever.
[01:12:52] And all of them have been destroyed except for AT-AT and it's the last one and it can't be found.
[01:12:57] So it's become this legend and myth and almost child's story.
[01:13:03] So it's one of these nine jewels of the Old Republic.
[01:13:06] And for whatever reason, it's the last one standing and it's been hidden away and nobody can find it.
[01:13:11] To where it's almost become this, like, level of people don't even believe it exists.
[01:13:17] And yet it does.
[01:13:18] Yeah.
[01:13:18] So it's...
[01:13:19] It's really interesting there.
[01:13:21] I love that, that we do get this kind of lore of, like, oh, these nine planets of jewels of the Old Republic and what all that means.
[01:13:29] And how that really fits in with everything else in the universe.
[01:13:33] Mm-hmm.
[01:13:34] It's interesting.
[01:13:36] Yeah.
[01:13:37] Uh...
[01:13:38] Yeah, again, the supervisor.
[01:13:39] Nothing.
[01:13:40] No contact outside the barrier.
[01:13:42] So...
[01:13:43] Then that with what Kim says about that map, whatever, it's hiding something.
[01:13:51] And we...
[01:13:52] Yeah, uh...
[01:13:53] Making sure I missed something.
[01:13:54] Yeah, the kids...
[01:13:55] Then they realize that the credits that they have are special.
[01:13:59] Like, and then they're talking, you know, at the table.
[01:14:01] It's like, maybe AT-AT really does...
[01:14:03] I love that moment where Neil brings up, like, wait, what do your parents do?
[01:14:06] Like, what are we...
[01:14:07] And it's just like, wait.
[01:14:08] Yeah, it's true.
[01:14:08] The entire planet is just financial analysis and administration...
[01:14:13] ...of old currency, old republic, pre-Clone Wars.
[01:14:16] And it's all like...
[01:14:17] Yeah.
[01:14:17] Which they don't know those terms.
[01:14:18] They don't know those things.
[01:14:19] No.
[01:14:19] But it's all like...
[01:14:21] Something's not adding up.
[01:14:22] Like, wait a minute.
[01:14:23] Is there...
[01:14:23] They're like, you see them all like...
[01:14:25] Wait, do we have...
[01:14:26] Are we a treasure planet?
[01:14:28] Like, what's happening?
[01:14:31] And then, yeah, I like that when Kim asks KB about...
[01:14:35] Oh, what are nearby planets?
[01:14:36] She's trying to pinpoint where it's located.
[01:14:38] What's nearby?
[01:14:38] And she says they learned about Coruscant and Alderaan.
[01:14:42] Which, if those are really relatively nearby, then...
[01:14:46] They're in the Core Worlds, at least.
[01:14:48] Or at least near enough that maybe Mid-Rim.
[01:14:50] But if Coruscant's nearby, that's Core World area.
[01:14:54] Of course, they are not aware of the destruction of Alderaan.
[01:14:56] That planet doesn't exist anymore.
[01:14:59] But they didn't know about that.
[01:15:01] They haven't heard about the Galactic Civil War.
[01:15:03] Probably don't know anything about the Clone Wars or anything else that happened before their time.
[01:15:08] And that's where you're like, okay, Ad-Aton is closed off in a pre-Empire mindset bubble.
[01:15:15] To protect something.
[01:15:17] Something.
[01:15:17] Because I think Fern's mother doesn't even know anything about that.
[01:15:20] She mentions that she grew up there, was getting into trouble as a kid, and...
[01:15:26] Everything's secluded.
[01:15:27] But then, you know, Jedi are talked about as something that people know of.
[01:15:32] Wim is obsessed with Jedi.
[01:15:34] And if somebody who follows, you know, Star Wars kind of lore that...
[01:15:37] Which has always been kind of a weird thing.
[01:15:39] That like, not that much time has passed.
[01:15:41] But like, all of the Jedi, for the most part, were all wiped out.
[01:15:44] Like, almost extinct.
[01:15:46] Within, you know, Order 66.
[01:15:49] And, uh...
[01:15:52] Clone Wars and things like that.
[01:15:54] After that, where then, like, Jedi became almost like a myth and a legend.
[01:15:57] And then some of them started to come back.
[01:16:00] But even now, like, yeah, a few of the Jedi...
[01:16:02] You know, we have Luke Skywalker.
[01:16:04] And then, like, Ahsoka Tano.
[01:16:05] And certain people that helped with the Rebel Alliance.
[01:16:08] But they're few and far between.
[01:16:09] And so, people talk about Jedi, like, almost like these myths of, like...
[01:16:16] Yeah, maybe Jedi still exist.
[01:16:18] And maybe they helped out with it.
[01:16:19] But they're not something that are, like, very well-known, common.
[01:16:22] Like, oh yeah, Jedi are everywhere.
[01:16:23] Like, that's not a thing.
[01:16:24] Right.
[01:16:24] In this post-Empire world.
[01:16:26] So, for Wim to be like, oh yeah, I know all these things about Jedi.
[01:16:31] It's like, you're still living in this pre-Empire mindset.
[01:16:33] Where Jedi were common and part of the Republic.
[01:16:37] And were ingrained in the politics and government of the time.
[01:16:42] And so, that's why he knows so much about them.
[01:16:44] It's like, he has no idea everything that has happened.
[01:16:47] So, they don't have a bunch of new information.
[01:16:49] But he also has a lot of information that the rest of the galaxy has lost.
[01:16:52] Because of the wars.
[01:16:54] I have to wonder if maybe anyone who knew about where it actually was is dead.
[01:17:02] Probably.
[01:17:03] And the only people that know about its existence are the people who live on it.
[01:17:09] And those who talk about it don't talk about it in a way that it's something that actually exists.
[01:17:17] It's a myth.
[01:17:18] Yeah.
[01:17:19] And so, like, all those things that I was just thinking.
[01:17:21] Like, I could almost feel like Kim when talking to KP and Fern and stuff is having those same thoughts.
[01:17:27] Like, wait, this is all pre-Empire.
[01:17:28] Like, how do people even know about it?
[01:17:30] Like, what is going on?
[01:17:31] Yeah. And she's very interested, you know, what's this about the barrier and a great work?
[01:17:35] And, oh, it must be nebular gases are hiding the planet away.
[01:17:39] Yeah.
[01:17:40] I will definitely see Kim again, I feel.
[01:17:44] Because she's...
[01:17:44] I think so, too.
[01:17:45] She's very intrigued.
[01:17:46] Like, she's put herself into this mystery now.
[01:17:49] And I just wonder if whatever they're protecting or whatever they're doing is good or bad.
[01:17:56] I feel like with anything Star Wars that I've known in my life, it's always good versus evil.
[01:18:03] Who's doing good versus evil?
[01:18:05] Yeah.
[01:18:05] And I feel like in this case, my head, I'm trying to figure out, is Jod good or evil?
[01:18:14] Or just mischievous?
[01:18:16] It gets so twisted.
[01:18:18] It's relative.
[01:18:19] Yeah.
[01:18:19] With the Clone Wars and stuff, for somebody who's watched all of the animated shows and
[01:18:23] that it's very twisted because there's this whole idea.
[01:18:26] I mean, yeah, the Jedi were part of the Republic and the Republic were the good guys.
[01:18:28] But then...
[01:18:30] And the Separatists were the bad guys.
[01:18:31] But the Separatists and the Republic, because of Palpatine and Dooku, end up working together.
[01:18:36] And there was almost this switch where the Separatists got wiped out.
[01:18:40] And then the Republic, who were the good guys, became the Empire.
[01:18:43] And now they're the bad guys.
[01:18:46] And so it's all very just whoever's in power flips the entire dynamic of, you know,
[01:18:52] the Jedi were used to uphold peace.
[01:18:56] But then they almost became warriors to serve the Separatists' own movement, but then to
[01:19:01] destroy itself, to then make the Empire be built.
[01:19:04] So it was all very insidious and inside manipulation and to where there's not really...
[01:19:10] After all of that stuff, it's like there is no really set good or evil in this universe
[01:19:14] in this galaxy because it's all to the whims of who has the power at the time.
[01:19:19] Yeah.
[01:19:19] And so I want to know, who's the supervisor?
[01:19:23] Yeah.
[01:19:24] What power do they have?
[01:19:26] How much do they know about what's going on outside of their own planet?
[01:19:31] Do they have any connection?
[01:19:33] Because I, again, I don't know that they do, but I also don't know that they don't.
[01:19:38] Mm-hmm.
[01:19:39] Yeah.
[01:19:39] It makes me go back to two of us can keep a secret if one of us is dead, which is just
[01:19:46] a thing that people used to say.
[01:19:49] Mm-hmm.
[01:19:50] Basically to get you not to tell secrets to anyone because you can't trust people.
[01:19:55] But it makes me think about, well, they've been able to protect themselves for this long.
[01:20:01] They haven't had any invasion that we know of.
[01:20:05] So it really makes me think that no, no one outside knows they're there.
[01:20:10] Yeah.
[01:20:11] And no one inside talks to anyone on the outside.
[01:20:15] And that's built by design to keep them safe.
[01:20:18] Mm-hmm.
[01:20:19] And let them do whatever they're doing, good or bad.
[01:20:22] So then whoever is in charge, what do they know?
[01:20:25] Where are they at?
[01:20:26] Exactly.
[01:20:26] And that's, so there's all these speculations like, is it a separist holdout?
[01:20:30] Is it really just old republic that's shut off and doesn't know what's going on?
[01:20:34] And is it some kind of empire thing that's still holding on and not letting its own people
[01:20:39] know that any of that happened?
[01:20:41] Does it, is it something that's, you know, kind of like what we see in the Mandalorian
[01:20:46] and stuff that there's still people who are within the empire that are holding out to
[01:20:50] like, that's where the first order comes from after that is these remnants that rebuild.
[01:20:57] Mm-hmm.
[01:20:58] There's so many questions you don't know.
[01:20:59] Yeah.
[01:21:00] What exactly is the great work?
[01:21:02] Mm-hmm.
[01:21:03] It seems like it has to do with money.
[01:21:06] That's all I can tell.
[01:21:09] Yeah.
[01:21:09] So now I'm ready for episode four.
[01:21:12] Oh, yeah.
[01:21:13] To get maybe some answers or at least get us closer to finding out some answers to the
[01:21:19] questions that we know already.
[01:21:21] Already super excited for episode four, but especially, so this leads me to my last little tiny point,
[01:21:25] which is just fun little things and stuff, which of course is who's directing episode four.
[01:21:32] Who's directing episode four?
[01:21:35] Well, Daniels.
[01:21:37] Who are well known for their Oscar award winning directors for everything, everywhere, all at once.
[01:21:42] Some other stuff.
[01:21:43] I love that.
[01:21:45] So they will be directing episode four of Skeleton Crew, and I'm so excited to see what that will be like.
[01:21:52] It could be off the rails.
[01:21:55] It could be cool.
[01:21:58] I'm not sure.
[01:21:59] I know they did a lot of fun music videos for different bands as well, which is cool.
[01:22:07] It's very interesting that they were chosen to direct this episode.
[01:22:15] It leads me to believe that we may get some sort of shocking reveal.
[01:22:23] Yeah.
[01:22:23] Who knows?
[01:22:24] But yeah, it's really cool.
[01:22:25] When I found that out, I was like, well, now I'm just even more excited to watch the next week because anything they touch.
[01:22:30] So that's like fun things.
[01:22:32] This show is scored by Mick Giacchino, who is the son of acclaimed composer Michael Giacchino.
[01:22:40] Oh, my goodness.
[01:22:42] And you know, love, love, love, love.
[01:22:47] Yeah.
[01:22:48] Love.
[01:22:50] Yeah.
[01:22:51] Giacchino did so many amazing things.
[01:22:53] Did so many movies that we've covered on Run for Your Lives.
[01:22:59] Mm-hmm.
[01:22:59] Just amazing.
[01:23:01] So cool.
[01:23:02] Yeah.
[01:23:03] See a couple other things.
[01:23:04] The Wee Ferryman, as SM33 calls him.
[01:23:08] Oh, my God.
[01:23:09] That, like, puppet creature that takes them on the little, like, you know, plastic bubble, like, ferry.
[01:23:17] That is a teak that comes from the Ewoks series.
[01:23:20] I did not watch that, but it is something I found out.
[01:23:23] And it is voiced by Sam Witwer, who...
[01:23:30] Especially for, like, Star Wars nerds and fans, has done all kinds of voice acting for pretty much every Star Wars medium.
[01:23:36] He's been in all the video games and animated stuff and all over the place.
[01:23:42] But mostly, especially known for he was the voice of Maul in The Clone Wars and also portrayed Maul in Solo in the little cameo he made there.
[01:23:50] Yeah, he was also, I believe, Private Jessup in The Mist.
[01:23:56] Mm-hmm.
[01:23:56] And so when you said the name, that's where my head went to right away.
[01:23:59] I'm like, oh, yeah, he was in The Mist.
[01:24:01] Not a great end for him, Miss Carmody.
[01:24:04] Yeah, she was a bit brutal.
[01:24:06] Yeah, and then the winged creature that KB is looking at in Port Borgo is...
[01:24:14] The little red winged fuzzy creature is Fuzzball from Captain EO.
[01:24:19] Okay, those were so cute.
[01:24:21] Mm-hmm.
[01:24:22] Of course, does that make Captain EO some kind of canon?
[01:24:26] For those who don't know what Captain EO is, it is a Michael Jackson film that was shown exclusively at Disney theme parks in the 80s and 90s.
[01:24:33] Yes, I remember that.
[01:24:35] I did not ever see it, but I do remember that.
[01:24:40] So there was some Captain EO references, especially that creature, 100%.
[01:24:44] So that's really cool.
[01:24:46] And then last little fun thing that I'm going to point out, go to Star Wars official YouTube channel and you can find their lyric video, music video for Yoongi Wim, Bunky Dunco, which is their major tom.
[01:25:04] It is Major Tom in Huttese, and it's a full lyric video with all the Huttese lyrics up, and it's set to footage from Skeleton Crew, including, spoiler alert, a little bit.
[01:25:19] I'm sure it's official Star Wars, so they're not going to give away too much important stuff, but there's a lot of footage in that video that we have not seen in these first three episodes yet.
[01:25:28] So a little bit of teaser stuff to set up what's coming in the season, but it's a lot of fun.
[01:25:34] It gets stuck in your head.
[01:25:35] It definitely did.
[01:25:37] We watched it before we started recording, and it was in my head for the first half hour.
[01:25:44] So I wanted to say that with this series, I feel like with Star Wars TV series,
[01:25:54] there's often more of a fanfare about them coming out.
[01:26:00] I knew nothing about this at all.
[01:26:03] It then just suddenly seemed to appear from nowhere.
[01:26:06] Like, I knew about the Acolyte and, you know, Ahsoka and all of those.
[01:26:13] This just seemed to come out of nowhere for me.
[01:26:15] Yeah.
[01:26:16] And I don't know.
[01:26:16] It's been on my radar for a while.
[01:26:18] Yeah.
[01:26:20] Um, I've been looking forward to it, but I, to an extent that I was like, oh, I'm going
[01:26:24] to watch it.
[01:26:24] I'm going to check it out.
[01:26:25] But I didn't really have the high expectations that I do now that I've seen it.
[01:26:29] Um, it really was like the night that it came out.
[01:26:33] I was like, oh yeah, Skeleton Cruise this week.
[01:26:35] It was like, I'm curious.
[01:26:37] Cause I kind of, I was like, it's, it's Star Wars, but it's starring kids.
[01:26:42] And you have that mentality.
[01:26:43] Is it a kid's show in the Star Wars?
[01:26:44] Like, yeah.
[01:26:45] Cause I mean, I'm not going to, I'm, I love Star Wars.
[01:26:48] Star Wars dearly.
[01:26:50] I understand a lot of people were very upset about Acolyte for one reason or another.
[01:26:54] Was it the best?
[01:26:55] No, not at all.
[01:26:56] But I'm not going to sit here and like crap on it for any period of time.
[01:27:00] Cause a lot of people put in a lot of work on that show.
[01:27:03] Um, but yeah, after the Acolyte where it's like, okay, whatever new Star Wars stuff that's
[01:27:08] coming out, I was like, I'm going to watch it.
[01:27:10] We'll see how it is.
[01:27:11] And so it really was kind of not really trepidation, but like just a, we'll see how it goes.
[01:27:16] Like I'm going to watch it.
[01:27:17] It could be fun.
[01:27:19] And then I watched those first two episodes that premiere night and immediately fell in
[01:27:23] love with it as I think a lot of people did.
[01:27:25] And it was like, oh snap.
[01:27:27] No, this is really, really good.
[01:27:28] Okay, cool.
[01:27:29] And then I was telling everybody I could about it, which then leads to Jason being like,
[01:27:34] do you want to cover it?
[01:27:35] And I was like, yes, please.
[01:27:36] Yeah.
[01:27:40] You messaged our kids on bikes group and said, Hey, you need to check this out.
[01:27:47] It's got the vibe.
[01:27:49] And it took me a little bit to finally watch it when I did.
[01:27:52] I really enjoyed it.
[01:27:54] And you were right about Fern.
[01:27:56] I just, she's amazing.
[01:27:59] She is this, like so close to the character that I have on Kids on Bikes.
[01:28:05] And it's just amazing to watch her character interact with the others.
[01:28:10] And it just, it's giving me ideas.
[01:28:13] It's helping me kind of think about, okay.
[01:28:16] Yeah.
[01:28:16] Yeah.
[01:28:17] It's cool to get to see some of that, like actually play out.
[01:28:20] And I can think about how it can impact my character on Kids on Bikes.
[01:28:27] Because we have a lot of intense things happening on there.
[01:28:30] So yeah, I can say that I did not have talking about a Star Wars show on my bingo card for this year.
[01:28:41] It was not.
[01:28:42] But when Jason approached us about it, it's a great opportunity for us to get to talk about a TV series.
[01:28:49] Yeah.
[01:28:49] Don't do it too often.
[01:28:50] Well, we don't do it too often.
[01:28:52] No.
[01:28:53] So it was cool to get together for us to get to do this.
[01:28:57] And again, I do come at this from a very different place because I just am not living in the lore of Star Wars.
[01:29:06] And so I'm learning a lot listening to you.
[01:29:10] Yeah.
[01:29:11] And again, like I'm trying to catch up on a lot of stuff.
[01:29:14] So I'm rusty on some things.
[01:29:15] So if there's people that are catching me up, like, you know, catching me on certain things, like actually it's this.
[01:29:20] Don't be afraid to um, actually me.
[01:29:22] Let me know and feedback and stuff.
[01:29:24] Be like, actually, it's more like this and this.
[01:29:26] Because like, keep me on track too.
[01:29:27] Because like I've, you know, big Star Wars fan for sure.
[01:29:31] But like, I've kind of fallen off and on on certain things and I have to binge this to catch up in here and in there.
[01:29:36] So I do my best to make sure all the pieces stay in my head.
[01:29:40] But it's one fandom out of so many other things that I obsess about.
[01:29:43] So to keep everything together is a lot.
[01:29:46] It's got a deep lore.
[01:29:46] So, yeah.
[01:29:48] Don't be afraid to call me out if I do say something wrong.
[01:29:52] But I think I'm trying to do a good job of keeping that lore in place to help myself and Daphne get through some of those things.
[01:30:01] Which with this show, I do love that this show very much stands on its own, though.
[01:30:04] So, like those things are there and it helps enrich when you know kind of the lore of what's going on.
[01:30:10] But it's not important for this show.
[01:30:11] It's not necessary.
[01:30:13] No, it isn't.
[01:30:14] I'm enjoying it so much.
[01:30:15] And I, like I said, I know nothing about all of this.
[01:30:19] My sister is much more of a Star Wars nerd than me.
[01:30:23] But I'm along for the ride and I'm having a lot of fun with it so far.
[01:30:27] So I'm looking forward to what we get in episode four.
[01:30:32] All right.
[01:30:32] So I think that kind of wraps up our coverage of these first three episodes pretty well.
[01:30:37] So we'll be back in a little bit with some listener feedback after this.
[01:30:45] And we are back with some listener feedback for the first couple of episodes of Skeleton Crew.
[01:30:52] Peg, do you want to read the first one?
[01:30:54] All right.
[01:30:55] It's kind of a two-parter.
[01:30:57] First, we have a message from Steve.
[01:31:00] He says, great first two episodes.
[01:31:01] Lost in space with kids.
[01:31:03] Okay.
[01:31:03] Okay.
[01:31:04] That last scene of episode two revealing Jude Law as a Jedi.
[01:31:07] I'm in.
[01:31:08] And then he also said that he would try to do a little live Steve voice message for us for episode three.
[01:31:13] And he did.
[01:31:14] So here that is.
[01:31:16] Hey, Peg and Daphne.
[01:31:17] This is Steve.
[01:31:18] And this is going to be for Skeleton Crew.
[01:31:20] I can't talk tonight.
[01:31:22] Skeleton Crew, episode three, season one, episode three.
[01:31:26] I'm glad there's a previously on because I know it's been a couple of days.
[01:31:29] Yeah.
[01:31:29] I don't think the safety droids are going to be able to find these kids.
[01:31:32] So they're out of their cell and apparently they're out of their chains, right?
[01:31:35] I guess that we just assume the key, the one key fit all.
[01:31:40] He's got a point.
[01:31:41] Without a ship, what use?
[01:31:42] Calling him a Jedi.
[01:31:43] Do we know what, what is the timeframe of this?
[01:31:45] Is this in between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens?
[01:31:50] Jawas.
[01:31:51] Because the Jedi don't have a leave no man behind saying, besides he's a droid.
[01:31:56] How is he going to find their droid amidst all this?
[01:31:58] I don't know.
[01:31:59] Oh, I see.
[01:32:00] He just went to the, where all disabled droids go, apparently.
[01:32:04] Droid Morgue, the droid with the rat living in his eyeball.
[01:32:07] Okay.
[01:32:08] This guy's not a Jedi.
[01:32:09] This is the pirate captain from the beginning of the first episode, right?
[01:32:12] Okay.
[01:32:12] So they escaped by, they activated the hyperdrive, but it didn't, what?
[01:32:19] I enjoy poking him in the chest.
[01:32:21] I hate it when they poke you in the chest like that.
[01:32:22] Okay.
[01:32:23] So who's his friend going to be?
[01:32:24] Somebody we know or somebody we don't know?
[01:32:26] Oh, great.
[01:32:27] His friend, but he doesn't trust her a hundred percent and she might stab him in the back.
[01:32:32] Good intro, dude.
[01:32:33] His name's not dude.
[01:32:34] It's Jude.
[01:32:35] Jode or Silva?
[01:32:37] Silvo?
[01:32:37] Sisko.
[01:32:38] Psycho.
[01:32:39] What?
[01:32:39] Oh, so Kim is an owl.
[01:32:41] Oh, so Kim called in some sort of authorities on this guy who's Crimson Jack.
[01:32:46] How many names does this guy have?
[01:32:47] Oh, he just punched her and sent her flying.
[01:32:50] Well, she's an owl, but yeah.
[01:32:52] So Kim just told the little girl with the Geordi LaForge eyewear that she can call her anytime.
[01:32:58] How's she going to call her though?
[01:32:59] Yeah.
[01:33:00] He never actually said he was a Jedi.
[01:33:01] Ooh, X-Wing fighters.
[01:33:02] That means these guys are the Republic, right?
[01:33:04] And so the kids are on the guns and they just made the jump to hyperspace.
[01:33:08] All right.
[01:33:09] I'm going to try to send this in now.
[01:33:10] Thank you, Steve.
[01:33:14] Awesome.
[01:33:15] Thank you.
[01:33:15] That was great.
[01:33:16] Love to hear a good life, Steve.
[01:33:19] Yeah.
[01:33:20] So the next one we have is from Alicia.
[01:33:23] She says, I'm loving it so far, but kind of bummed it only drops once a week.
[01:33:28] Kind of left us hanging there with the intro to Jude Law.
[01:33:32] Mm-hmm.
[01:33:33] And that was after the first two episodes.
[01:33:35] So hopefully got your appetite wet a little bit more from episode three.
[01:33:40] But yeah, now we're still just stuck waiting for that.
[01:33:43] And then even here on this podcast, I'm like, oh, now we only have to get to record one episode
[01:33:48] at a time each week.
[01:33:50] And it's not like Strange Indeed when I'm doing that where I can just run to Netflix and watch
[01:33:53] the next episode as soon as we're done recording.
[01:33:56] I have to wait till next week for this one.
[01:33:58] I know.
[01:33:59] I'm not liking the waiting.
[01:34:01] I'm so impatient.
[01:34:03] This is not, yeah, this is not fun.
[01:34:06] Mm-hmm.
[01:34:08] We've got one from Jamie who says, I'm loving Goonies in space so far, which, yeah, that's
[01:34:13] a big selling point for me too.
[01:34:15] It's like, it's Goonies.
[01:34:17] It is.
[01:34:18] Because Goonies is one of my all-time favorite movies ever.
[01:34:20] So love the vibes on this show for sure too.
[01:34:24] And finally, Matt says, good fun so far and the kids are not too annoying yet.
[01:34:30] I didn't think they were annoying, but you know, everyone has an opinion and-
[01:34:34] Yeah, well, he says not too annoying.
[01:34:35] So-
[01:34:36] Yeah, that's good.
[01:34:38] Hopefully not yet.
[01:34:39] Hopefully not ever.
[01:34:40] I think, no, these kids are very endearing to me.
[01:34:43] I think so.
[01:34:47] All right.
[01:34:47] Well, that is our show.
[01:34:48] Thank you for listening, everybody.
[01:34:50] Next episode is Skeleton Crew Season 1, Episode 4.

[01:35:25] You should give it a listen.
