[00:00:05] [SPEAKER_13]: What a day this is.

[00:00:08] [SPEAKER_13]: Special day.

[00:00:10] [SPEAKER_13]: Today is our centennial, the 100th anniversary of the founding of Sunnydale, and I know what

[00:00:15] [SPEAKER_13]: that means to all you kids.

[00:00:17] [SPEAKER_13]: Not a darn thing.

[00:00:20] [SPEAKER_13]: Because today, something much more important happens.

[00:00:24] [SPEAKER_13]: Today, you all graduate from high school.

[00:00:27] [SPEAKER_13]: Today, all the pain, all the work, all the excitement is finally over.

[00:00:33] [SPEAKER_13]: Now it's a hundred years of history compared to that.

[00:00:35] [SPEAKER_06]: My God.

[00:00:36] [SPEAKER_06]: You know what kids?

[00:00:37] [SPEAKER_06]: He's going to do the entire speech.

[00:00:39] [SPEAKER_06]: Man, just ascend already.

[00:00:43] [SPEAKER_13]: Evil.

[00:00:43] [SPEAKER_13]: ... whether you like it or not.

[00:00:47] [SPEAKER_13]: It's been a long road getting here for you, for Sunnydale.

[00:00:51] [SPEAKER_13]: There's been achievement, joy, good times, and there's been grief.

[00:01:00] [SPEAKER_13]: There's been loss.

[00:01:05] [SPEAKER_13]: Some people who should be here today aren't.

[00:01:13] [SPEAKER_13]: But we are.

[00:01:15] [SPEAKER_13]: Journeys end.

[00:01:17] [SPEAKER_13]: And what is a journey?

[00:01:18] [SPEAKER_13]: Is it just distance traveled, time spent?

[00:01:23] [SPEAKER_13]: No.

[00:01:24] [SPEAKER_13]: It's what happens on the way.

[00:01:25] [SPEAKER_13]: It's the things that shape you.

[00:01:27] [SPEAKER_13]: At the end of the journey, you're not the same.

[00:01:29] [SPEAKER_13]: Today is about change.

[00:01:32] [SPEAKER_13]: Graduation doesn't just mean your circumstances change.

[00:01:35] [SPEAKER_13]: It means you do.

[00:01:36] [SPEAKER_13]: You ascend to a higher level.

[00:01:42] [SPEAKER_13]: Nothing will ever be the same.

[00:01:46] [SPEAKER_13]: Nothing.

[00:01:59] [SPEAKER_13]: And so, as we look back on the events that have brought us to this day, we must all...

[00:02:24] [SPEAKER_13]: It has begun.

[00:02:26] [SPEAKER_13]: My destiny.

[00:02:30] [SPEAKER_13]: It's a little sooner than I expected.

[00:02:32] [SPEAKER_13]: I had this whole section on civic pride, but I guess we'll just skip to the big

[00:02:39] [SPEAKER_13]: finish.

[00:03:21] [SPEAKER_15]: Hello, everybody, and welcome to Still Slaying, a Buffyverse podcast.

[00:03:25] [SPEAKER_15]: I'm Penny.

[00:03:27] [SPEAKER_03]: And I'm Sam.

[00:03:29] [SPEAKER_03]: And I'm Kara.

[00:03:30] [SPEAKER_03]: This episode we're going to be discussing season three, episode 22, the big finale,

[00:03:36] [SPEAKER_03]: Graduation Day Part Two.

[00:03:37] [SPEAKER_03]: This one is also directed and written by JW, and the original air date for

[00:03:42] [SPEAKER_03]: this episode was July 13th of 1999.

[00:03:47] [SPEAKER_15]: Some of the alternative titles in other languages for this episode were what translated to

[00:03:52] [SPEAKER_15]: be the challenge, second part, in Italian and the day of retribution in German.

[00:03:59] [SPEAKER_15]: Leave it to the Germans.

[00:04:00] [SPEAKER_15]: I love that.

[00:04:01] I love that one.

[00:04:03] [SPEAKER_15]: All right.

[00:04:03] [SPEAKER_15]: He's very German.

[00:04:05] [SPEAKER_15]: This episode caused some controversy in the media around the time that it was to air.

[00:04:11] [SPEAKER_15]: The Columbine High School massacre had happened only four weeks earlier than Graduation Day

[00:04:17] [SPEAKER_15]: Part One was aired, and the shooting was widely blamed on violence and entertainment.

[00:04:24] [SPEAKER_15]: Let's get a new argument, people.

[00:04:29] [SPEAKER_16]: It's not true psychologically, by the way.

[00:04:32] [SPEAKER_15]: It's just every generation likes to blame the entertainment of the new generation.

[00:04:37] [SPEAKER_16]: Yes, rather than take responsibility.

[00:04:39] [SPEAKER_15]: It's not like human history has violence in it.

[00:04:42] [SPEAKER_16]: I mean, what video games?

[00:04:44] [SPEAKER_16]: We thought of Genghis Khan.

[00:04:47] [SPEAKER_16]: Yeah, what video games were the ancient Romans playing?

[00:04:50] [SPEAKER_16]: Oh my gosh, do you remember the violent TV shows that sparked the Crusades?

[00:04:55] [SPEAKER_16]: Yeah.

[00:04:56] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, or what took place in the Tower of London all those years?

[00:05:00] [SPEAKER_16]: Yeah, that was based on a book, right?

[00:05:02] [SPEAKER_15]: And they were just reading the Bible over and over again.

[00:05:06] [SPEAKER_15]: Oh, well.

[00:05:06] [SPEAKER_15]: So violence there.

[00:05:07] [SPEAKER_15]: Yeah.

[00:05:09] [SPEAKER_15]: So the WB had already pulled the plug earlier with Earshot, which itself was not aired

[00:05:14] [SPEAKER_15]: until September of 99.

[00:05:16] [SPEAKER_15]: And they feared that several scenes in this episode, Graduation Day Part Two, would

[00:05:21] [SPEAKER_15]: provoke high school students to do the same thing, especially those depicting the entire

[00:05:26] [SPEAKER_15]: graduating class handling weapons against the mayor or a demon.

[00:05:32] [SPEAKER_15]: Yeah.

[00:05:34] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh boy.

[00:05:36] [SPEAKER_16]: On May 25th.

[00:05:38] [SPEAKER_03]: Sorry, I didn't pull out their weapons until he turned into a giant snake demon.

[00:05:42] [SPEAKER_03]: I know.

[00:05:43] [SPEAKER_16]: Yeah, it was self-defense.

[00:05:47] [SPEAKER_16]: On May 25th, 1999, only two hours before this was due to air, the WB suddenly decided

[00:05:55] [SPEAKER_16]: to replace it with a rerun from earlier in the season.

[00:05:58] [SPEAKER_16]: I remember this because I was very confused.

[00:06:00] [SPEAKER_16]: Kittos, we did not have Google as highly accessible back then.

[00:06:04] [SPEAKER_16]: Nope.

[00:06:04] [SPEAKER_16]: This sudden move received huge attention in the media and thousands of letters were sent

[00:06:09] [SPEAKER_16]: to the network demanding that the season finale be shown.

[00:06:13] [SPEAKER_16]: Sarah Michelle Geller publicly spoke out against the decision, although Seth Green

[00:06:17] [SPEAKER_16]: agreed that it would seem callous and inappropriate after the Columbine shootings.

[00:06:23] [SPEAKER_16]: The WB did not air this until July 13th, 1999, almost two months after it was originally

[00:06:31] [SPEAKER_16]: scheduled.

[00:06:31] [SPEAKER_16]: Since nearly all US schools end their term in May or June, it was then felt safe.

[00:06:39] [SPEAKER_16]: It attracted 6.5 million viewers, atypically high for the WB during summer and comparable

[00:06:46] [SPEAKER_16]: to what the show of the season had received.

[00:06:50] [SPEAKER_16]: Yeah.

[00:06:53] [SPEAKER_03]: And it's such an interesting episode to have to do that for too since it's literally

[00:06:58] [SPEAKER_03]: a continuation.

[00:07:00] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:07:01] [SPEAKER_03]: I remember being very confused.

[00:07:03] [SPEAKER_03]: Very, very confused about what happened.

[00:07:05] [SPEAKER_03]: It's not like school would start back up again in August or September.

[00:07:10] [SPEAKER_03]: It's just interesting.

[00:07:12] [SPEAKER_03]: But I remember that time, like I remember the emphasis on violent video games and

[00:07:19] [SPEAKER_03]: movies and Marilyn Manson and music especially.

[00:07:25] [SPEAKER_03]: And it's just...

[00:07:27] [SPEAKER_16]: There's credence in the mental health literature that watching movies and video games with

[00:07:34] [SPEAKER_16]: violence can elevate our heart rates and get us excited.

[00:07:39] [SPEAKER_16]: Yes, that's a thing that happens.

[00:07:41] [SPEAKER_16]: All of us who've seen action movies in the theaters will feel that more often

[00:07:47] [SPEAKER_16]: than not does not lead to acting that out against someone else and hurting them.

[00:07:52] [SPEAKER_16]: Otherwise there would be hundreds of this happening everywhere.

[00:07:56] [SPEAKER_16]: So the logic of the parents being involved and not to blame all the parents, but parents,

[00:08:03] [SPEAKER_16]: school administrators, the community, friends.

[00:08:05] [SPEAKER_16]: We find that there's other warning signals and that this was just a scapegoat for

[00:08:12] [SPEAKER_16]: someone to say, oh, let's blame the entertainment industry rather than take responsibility

[00:08:16] [SPEAKER_16]: for the failure of this country in regulating mental health and other things like weapons.

[00:08:22] [SPEAKER_03]: We've come so far.

[00:08:25] [SPEAKER_16]: Oh, it does hurt, doesn't it?

[00:08:29] [SPEAKER_16]: So far.

[00:08:30] [SPEAKER_16]: Oh, I just hurt my own feelings.

[00:08:36] [SPEAKER_03]: We could talk forever about that.

[00:08:39] [SPEAKER_15]: So let's go back to July of 1999 and find out what was happening.

[00:08:47] [SPEAKER_03]: So much, so much was going on.

[00:08:50] [SPEAKER_16]: I don't know.

[00:08:51] [SPEAKER_16]: The number one song in the US was Bills, Bills, Bills by Destiny's Child.

[00:08:57] [SPEAKER_16]: Number one song in the UK was Live in La Vida Loca by Ricky Martin.

[00:09:02] [SPEAKER_16]: Best selling books, Hannibal by Thomas Harris, a fiction book and Shadow by Bob Woodward,

[00:09:09] [SPEAKER_16]: nonfiction.

[00:09:10] [SPEAKER_16]: US box office number one was American Pie with our own Allison Hannigan playing

[00:09:16] [SPEAKER_16]: a very memorable role in it.

[00:09:19] [SPEAKER_16]: Number two was the Wild Wild West.

[00:09:24] [SPEAKER_16]: Number three was Star Wars Episode One, The Phantom Menace.

[00:09:29] [SPEAKER_03]: You know, it's funny that we talk about American Pie because I watched a little bit

[00:09:33] [SPEAKER_03]: of that Blue Ribbon Baking Championship on Netflix, like America's response to British

[00:09:41] [SPEAKER_03]: and Jason Biggs is the main host and he makes this really awkward joke about pie

[00:09:51] [SPEAKER_03]: at the beginning of the first episode.

[00:09:53] [SPEAKER_03]: And I was like, this is where we're at now.

[00:09:55] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know what to think about this.

[00:09:57] [SPEAKER_03]: All right.

[00:09:59] [SPEAKER_16]: That's hysterical.

[00:10:01] [SPEAKER_03]: You just cannot live it.

[00:10:03] [SPEAKER_03]: It was a very special, special introduction.

[00:10:07] [SPEAKER_03]: But since we had so much time pass between, you know, the airing of graduation day part

[00:10:15] [SPEAKER_03]: one in May and then part two in July, I went and pulled some of the most notable

[00:10:24] [SPEAKER_03]: events from May, June and July to go over.

[00:10:28] [SPEAKER_03]: And I figured we can rotate through them.

[00:10:32] [SPEAKER_03]: And if there's something that...

[00:10:33] [SPEAKER_15]: Oh, I went ahead and assigned sections.

[00:10:36] [SPEAKER_15]: So if you scroll down...

[00:10:39] [SPEAKER_15]: Oh, I see.

[00:10:40] [SPEAKER_03]: I got a refresh.

[00:10:41] [SPEAKER_15]: Tara, you get the first section.

[00:10:42] [SPEAKER_15]: Sam, you get the second section and I'll take the third section.

[00:10:45] [SPEAKER_15]: And I did that on purpose because I want to talk about JFK Junior.

[00:10:49] [SPEAKER_03]: OK.

[00:10:51] [SPEAKER_03]: So May 28th, after 22 years of restoration work, the Last Supper painting by Leonardo

[00:10:58] [SPEAKER_03]: da Vinci is finally put back on display in Milan, Italy.

[00:11:02] [SPEAKER_03]: But that was kind of apropos for the time right now after the Olympics wrapped up

[00:11:07] [SPEAKER_03]: and we had some really fun discussions.

[00:11:10] [SPEAKER_15]: That whole controversy that was not actually about the Last Supper.

[00:11:13] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, but who's going to tell them?

[00:11:19] [SPEAKER_03]: And then May 29th, after 16 years of military rule, Osugun Abasanjo,

[00:11:27] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm sorry if I butchered that, becomes the first civilian to be elected

[00:11:31] [SPEAKER_03]: president of Nigeria.

[00:11:33] [SPEAKER_03]: May 29th, this one's especially for you, Penny, the Space Shuttle Discovery

[00:11:38] [SPEAKER_03]: docks with the International Space Station.

[00:11:40] [SPEAKER_03]: Go NASA!

[00:11:42] [SPEAKER_03]: I love it.

[00:11:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Also on May 29th, the 44th Eurovision Song Contest takes place in Jerusalem.

[00:11:49] [SPEAKER_03]: I love Eurovision.

[00:11:52] [SPEAKER_03]: It is so entertaining.

[00:11:54] [SPEAKER_03]: I bet it was...

[00:11:55] [SPEAKER_03]: I should go look up 1999.

[00:11:57] [SPEAKER_03]: I bet that was a good year for this.

[00:12:00] [SPEAKER_03]: And then on May 30th, Kenny, I am not going to say this right,

[00:12:05] [SPEAKER_03]: Barack wins the Indianapolis 500.

[00:12:08] [SPEAKER_16]: On June 6th, 345 prisoners escaped from Pudim Maximum Security Prison in Brazil.

[00:12:17] [SPEAKER_16]: Also on June 6th was the 53rd Tony Awards.

[00:12:22] [SPEAKER_16]: June 9th, the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and NATO signed a peace treaty.

[00:12:28] [SPEAKER_16]: On June 10th, NATO suspends aerial bombing when Slobodan Milosevic agrees to withdraw from Kosovo.

[00:12:38] [SPEAKER_16]: June 12th, Operation Joint Guardian, a peacekeeping task force enters Kosovo.

[00:12:45] [SPEAKER_16]: June 16th, Thabo Mbeki, I don't think I'm pronouncing that right, apologies.

[00:12:50] [SPEAKER_15]: I think that is correct actually.

[00:12:52] [SPEAKER_16]: Oh, yay, cool.

[00:12:53] [SPEAKER_16]: becomes president of South Africa in the second democratic election.

[00:12:59] [SPEAKER_16]: June 20th, Australian wins the Cricket World Cup.

[00:13:04] [SPEAKER_16]: July 1st, a lift...

[00:13:06] [SPEAKER_16]: Take the Queen off.

[00:13:08] [SPEAKER_03]: I put Australia instead of Australia.

[00:13:12] [SPEAKER_16]: Whoops, here, I can redo it.

[00:13:17] Australia wins...

[00:13:18] [SPEAKER_16]: Sorry, I have the giggles now.

[00:13:21] [SPEAKER_16]: Because I read it like this makes sense.

[00:13:25] [SPEAKER_16]: Let me see you go slightly better.

[00:13:28] [SPEAKER_16]: I did not notice that until you pointed it out.

[00:13:30] [SPEAKER_16]: My brain goes, oh wait.

[00:13:33] [SPEAKER_16]: After you pointed it out.

[00:13:35] [SPEAKER_16]: Australia wins the Cricket World Cup.

[00:13:38] [SPEAKER_16]: On July 1st, Queen Elizabeth II opens the Scottish Parliament.

[00:13:45] [SPEAKER_16]: On July 3rd, Lindsay Davenport wins her only Wimbledon title.

[00:13:50] [SPEAKER_16]: And on July 4th, Pete Sampras wins his third consecutive Wimbledon title.

[00:13:58] [SPEAKER_15]: I used to watch a lot of tennis on TV, I remember watching those matches.

[00:14:02] [SPEAKER_16]: Oh, fun!

[00:14:05] [SPEAKER_15]: July 6th, Barry Winchell, a private in the US Army dies after being attacked by his fellow soldiers for having a relationship with Calpurnia Adams, a transgender showgirl.

[00:14:15] [SPEAKER_16]: I remember.

[00:14:16] [SPEAKER_16]: We learned about that too.

[00:14:19] [SPEAKER_15]: That's a nice piece of news.

[00:14:21] [SPEAKER_16]: And heads up, still happening to our troops.

[00:14:24] [SPEAKER_16]: Oh, I'm sure.

[00:14:27] [SPEAKER_15]: July 8th, the electric chair is used for the last time in Florida in the execution of Alan Lee Davis.

[00:14:35] [SPEAKER_15]: I am opposed to the death penalty in all cases, but especially the electric chair.

[00:14:42] [SPEAKER_16]: It is barbaric.

[00:14:44] [SPEAKER_15]: July 8th, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is published.

[00:14:50] [SPEAKER_03]: That's what I was doing.

[00:14:56] [SPEAKER_03]: I remember that.

[00:14:59] [SPEAKER_15]: July 9th, protests begin after an attack on a student dormitory at the University of Tehran.

[00:15:06] [SPEAKER_15]: July 16th, and this is just like permanently etched into my brain,

[00:15:11] [SPEAKER_15]: John F. Kennedy Jr. and his wife Carolyn Bessette Kennedy and his sister-in-law Lauren Bessette were killed.

[00:15:21] [SPEAKER_15]: There's people who think that they're still alive.

[00:15:23] [SPEAKER_15]: In a plane crash, it was a small plane.

[00:15:27] [SPEAKER_15]: I think John was flying it.

[00:15:35] [SPEAKER_15]: I guess I'm just a narcissist because I made it kind of all about me at the time.

[00:15:40] [SPEAKER_15]: Jackie Kennedy Onassis died while I was at Vassar, which is where she went to college.

[00:15:47] [SPEAKER_15]: And JFK Jr. died while I was at NYU Law School, which is where he went to law school.

[00:15:51] [SPEAKER_15]: And I was like, I gotta stop going to school. I'm killing the Kennedys.

[00:15:57] [SPEAKER_02]: That is an unfortunate trend.

[00:16:03] [SPEAKER_15]: This was before the days of so much cable and internet and everything.

[00:16:08] [SPEAKER_15]: There was around the clock news coverage about the search for the plane.

[00:16:15] [SPEAKER_15]: And there's a lot of questions that have never really been answered about what happened and how it happened.

[00:16:20] [SPEAKER_15]: But the three of them have never been found.

[00:16:25] [SPEAKER_03]: This started my fear of small planes.

[00:16:29] [SPEAKER_15]: Yeah, that's a wise fear.

[00:16:31] [SPEAKER_15]: They are unregulated.

[00:16:33] [SPEAKER_15]: It is, yeah, very much so.

[00:16:35] [SPEAKER_15]: This is hilarious because I remember this too a lot.

[00:16:38] [SPEAKER_15]: July 22nd, Woodstock 99 Music Festival begins and everybody was so excited about it.

[00:16:44] [SPEAKER_15]: And it was a horrible nightmare disaster.

[00:16:48] [SPEAKER_16]: If you guys think Firefest was bad, it was.

[00:16:53] [SPEAKER_16]: But take a look at some of the footage.

[00:16:55] [SPEAKER_16]: I didn't know about it at the time.

[00:16:56] [SPEAKER_16]: I think I was too young.

[00:16:58] [SPEAKER_16]: But looking at the videos and documentaries since then, it was a complete poop show.

[00:17:04] [SPEAKER_15]: Literally a poop show because there was two port-a-potties for the entire festival.

[00:17:09] [SPEAKER_03]: I think there may have been an MTV special on it or something at the time.

[00:17:15] [SPEAKER_03]: Because I remember hearing about it and being like, man, is that what music festivals are like?

[00:17:21] [SPEAKER_15]: And there was violence and there was widespread sexual assault happening.

[00:17:29] [SPEAKER_15]: There wasn't enough food or water and people were seriously injured.

[00:17:34] [SPEAKER_15]: And there was spontaneous mosh pits that no one wanted.

[00:17:39] [SPEAKER_15]: It was a disaster.

[00:17:43] [SPEAKER_15]: I don't think they're going to try Woodstock again ever.

[00:17:48] [SPEAKER_16]: I think they do now, the thing in the desert.

[00:17:52] [SPEAKER_16]: 2029?

[00:17:54] [SPEAKER_03]: The next 30 year iteration.

[00:18:00] [SPEAKER_15]: I think the people of upstate New York are going to be like, no.

[00:18:07] [SPEAKER_15]: Understandably.

[00:18:08] [SPEAKER_15]: Oh yeah, there's Burning Man and Coachella.

[00:18:13] [SPEAKER_15]: I think the great thing about those is that they happen where hardly anyone lives.

[00:18:18] [SPEAKER_15]: And so the nightmare is contained to people who voluntarily went to them.

[00:18:24] [SPEAKER_16]: Which, yeah, that's a whole other thing in there.

[00:18:29] [SPEAKER_16]: Going back to the Kennedys, I always think about, because I was always curious of why when celebrities die,

[00:18:38] [SPEAKER_16]: does it always affect us so much?

[00:18:40] [SPEAKER_16]: I remember when Paul Walker burned to death in a car accident and just being really shook up.

[00:18:50] [SPEAKER_16]: I was in my master's program at the time and just tearing up.

[00:18:53] [SPEAKER_16]: I've never met this man.

[00:18:56] [SPEAKER_16]: And just really feeling it deep down in my core.

[00:18:59] [SPEAKER_16]: Talking about it in grad school with our professors, they were bringing up what I thought

[00:19:04] [SPEAKER_16]: was informative of we may not know them personally, but it's what they stood for in our lives.

[00:19:11] [SPEAKER_16]: Especially in our childhoods and our development.

[00:19:14] [SPEAKER_16]: That's a part of why we feel so affected when celebrities die.

[00:19:17] [SPEAKER_16]: You don't know them as people, but you know how they impact your life.

[00:19:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Keith Ledger was that for me.

[00:19:23] [SPEAKER_03]: He had freshman year of college.

[00:19:25] [SPEAKER_03]: I was just shook.

[00:19:27] [SPEAKER_15]: With JFK Jr., he's more than just a celebrity.

[00:19:32] [SPEAKER_15]: America has known him since he was a baby.

[00:19:35] [SPEAKER_15]: He's been in the public eye his entire life.

[00:19:39] [SPEAKER_15]: He's got the iconic Life magazine photo where it looks like he's saluting his father's coffin.

[00:19:44] [SPEAKER_15]: He was the most eligible bachelor in New York City for years.

[00:19:50] [SPEAKER_15]: Women were all talking about being in love with him.

[00:19:54] [SPEAKER_15]: He was sort of our Prince William.

[00:19:58] [SPEAKER_15]: He had just married Carolyn Bassett.

[00:20:01] [SPEAKER_15]: That was a very new marriage.

[00:20:04] [SPEAKER_15]: People were fascinated by her.

[00:20:06] [SPEAKER_15]: Who is the woman who finally landed JFK Jr.?

[00:20:10] [SPEAKER_15]: Then it was just like, what?

[00:20:12] [SPEAKER_15]: They're gone?

[00:20:14] [SPEAKER_15]: To not ever find the bodies, I think, really affected so many people.

[00:20:20] [SPEAKER_15]: It feels incomplete.

[00:20:24] [SPEAKER_15]: You know that during recent election stuff, there was a rumor going around on the right

[00:20:32] [SPEAKER_15]: that JFK Jr. was still alive and he was going to be Trump's VP pick?

[00:20:36] [SPEAKER_15]: I was like, is Elvis in the room with you now?

[00:20:41] [SPEAKER_15]: If he were still alive, we'd know.

[00:20:44] [SPEAKER_16]: Yeah, and if he showed up, I have a lot of questions about aliens and demons.

[00:20:51] [SPEAKER_16]: I will say I live in Boston.

[00:20:54] [SPEAKER_16]: Flying in, I did share a flight with Joe Kennedy III.

[00:21:00] [SPEAKER_16]: He was a hottie little ginger.

[00:21:03] [SPEAKER_16]: He's a very attractive man in real life.

[00:21:05] [SPEAKER_16]: I mean, married happily married.

[00:21:06] [SPEAKER_16]: Very polite.

[00:21:09] [SPEAKER_16]: I was surprised when one of my coworkers, because we were flying back from a conference in California,

[00:21:14] [SPEAKER_16]: one of my coworkers was like, I think that's one of the Kennedys a few rows ahead of us.

[00:21:19] [SPEAKER_16]: I think I've never been in the Kennedy sweep up.

[00:21:23] [SPEAKER_16]: My mom was really big into it and my older aunts and stuff.

[00:21:27] [SPEAKER_16]: So I went to use the bathroom.

[00:21:29] [SPEAKER_16]: I came back and I had to Google who it was.

[00:21:31] [SPEAKER_16]: But I was like, oh.

[00:21:32] [SPEAKER_16]: Then when I came back around, because it was a long flight, transcontinental,

[00:21:36] [SPEAKER_16]: and I was like, thank you for your services, sir.

[00:21:40] [SPEAKER_16]: He's like, right back at you.

[00:21:41] [SPEAKER_16]: I was like, I get it.

[00:21:46] [SPEAKER_16]: I get it.

[00:21:47] [SPEAKER_16]: I never heard about this man before in my life.

[00:21:49] [SPEAKER_16]: And I was like, I nearly Googled if he was single.

[00:21:54] [SPEAKER_15]: Living in the Boston area, there's a lot of Kennedy love around here.

[00:21:59] [SPEAKER_15]: You know, people love to gloss over how the Kennedys sort of came to prominence

[00:22:05] [SPEAKER_15]: and where the family money comes from, which is bootlegging and mafia ties.

[00:22:11] [SPEAKER_03]: But there's so much history.

[00:22:13] [SPEAKER_15]: Yeah.

[00:22:14] [SPEAKER_15]: JFK and Bobby Kennedy were incredibly influential people and both of them were

[00:22:19] [SPEAKER_15]: assassinated.

[00:22:20] [SPEAKER_15]: And it's everyone sort of thought JFK Jr. was going to be the next generation of

[00:22:27] [SPEAKER_15]: leadership.

[00:22:27] [SPEAKER_15]: And it was a real loss.

[00:22:32] [SPEAKER_15]: And now we're left with Robert Kennedy Jr.

[00:22:36] [SPEAKER_15]: And

[00:22:36] [SPEAKER_15]: Well, and

[00:22:39] [SPEAKER_03]: Connor Kennedy

[00:22:43] [SPEAKER_03]: are your son dating Taylor Swift when it was not the best age gap.

[00:22:51] [SPEAKER_03]: He was like 18 and she was 22 or something like that.

[00:22:56] [SPEAKER_03]: But that is what caused me to go down a further Kennedy rabbit hole at the time.

[00:23:02] [SPEAKER_03]: And I was just like, there's a lot there.

[00:23:05] [SPEAKER_15]: There's a lot there.

[00:23:06] [SPEAKER_15]: And then there's like, I mean, there's a lot of good too.

[00:23:09] [SPEAKER_15]: There's, you know, like, is it Ethel Kennedy who started the or who was a

[00:23:15] [SPEAKER_15]: huge supporter of the Special Olympics and the family money.

[00:23:22] [SPEAKER_15]: There is a condition on inheriting more than a little bit of the family money is

[00:23:28] [SPEAKER_15]: that you have to work in public service.

[00:23:30] [SPEAKER_15]: So that's why so many Kennedys are like politicians because that's the only way

[00:23:35] [SPEAKER_15]: they get their trust fund.

[00:23:38] [SPEAKER_16]: Interesting.

[00:23:39] [SPEAKER_16]: How do we do that for all CEOs?

[00:23:44] [SPEAKER_15]: It's just something that

[00:23:46] [SPEAKER_15]: that grandma Kennedy insisted on in her, you know, when she put together her trust

[00:23:53] [SPEAKER_15]: and estate stuff.

[00:23:54] [SPEAKER_15]: And, you know, people get money from other sources and all the Kennedys

[00:23:57] [SPEAKER_15]: make their own money.

[00:23:58] [SPEAKER_15]: But like the big family money comes with this condition.

[00:24:07] [SPEAKER_15]: All right.

[00:24:08] [SPEAKER_15]: Let's get into it about graduation day part two.

[00:24:12] [SPEAKER_15]: The episode picks up right where it left off.

[00:24:16] [SPEAKER_15]: With Buffy having just stabbed Faith and Faith falls on that truck and goes

[00:24:25] [SPEAKER_15]: wherever she's going.

[00:24:26] [SPEAKER_15]: And I guess Buffy thinks she's killed Faith at that point.

[00:24:30] [SPEAKER_15]: We, of course, find out that she's not dead.

[00:24:32] [SPEAKER_15]: But I love that the scene because the mayor comes into the apartment and is

[00:24:37] [SPEAKER_15]: looking around just as Buffy climbs down the fire escape ladder to leave.

[00:24:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, makes me nervous.

[00:24:46] [SPEAKER_15]: Yeah, it makes you.

[00:24:47] [SPEAKER_15]: Yeah, you always feel like she's going to get caught.

[00:24:49] [SPEAKER_16]: Yeah, it's like everything's emotion in this episode.

[00:24:54] [SPEAKER_16]: And I really love that.

[00:24:56] [SPEAKER_16]: I loved that opening.

[00:24:57] [SPEAKER_16]: I was struck by the quiet music in it and the lack of dialogue.

[00:25:03] [SPEAKER_16]: And so you're just left with SMG's face and her acting and considering

[00:25:09] [SPEAKER_16]: how frenetically it ended to then go into this quiet and almost like I

[00:25:15] [SPEAKER_16]: felt her desperation and her helplessness.

[00:25:18] [SPEAKER_16]: So sharring watching them back to back, especially if you know.

[00:25:23] [SPEAKER_16]: So well done.

[00:25:24] [SPEAKER_16]: I was just floored by that opening.

[00:25:27] [SPEAKER_16]: And yeah, the continuation shot to the mayor and so good.

[00:25:32] [SPEAKER_16]: You excellent filming.

[00:25:33] [SPEAKER_15]: They use that kind of same kind of thing later in the episode.

[00:25:37] [SPEAKER_15]: It's one of my favorite sequences is when Buffy is laying out the plan

[00:25:42] [SPEAKER_15]: and she's like, all right.

[00:25:44] [SPEAKER_15]: I wait to have I wrote it down exactly what she says.

[00:25:47] [SPEAKER_15]: She's like, OK, this is how it's going to lay out.

[00:25:55] [SPEAKER_15]: And they dissolve the shot to the mayor saying this is how it's going

[00:25:59] [SPEAKER_15]: to lay out the exact same line and overlaps with her.

[00:26:02] [SPEAKER_15]: The audio does.

[00:26:03] [SPEAKER_15]: And then he gives a little bit of the layout of the plan.

[00:26:06] [SPEAKER_15]: And then it transitions mid sentence into Wesley saying, you know,

[00:26:11] [SPEAKER_15]: day will become night, blah, blah, blah, it's an eclipse.

[00:26:14] [SPEAKER_15]: And then it goes back to the mayor talking about how the vampires

[00:26:18] [SPEAKER_15]: are going to have to be in the sewers and they're going to come up

[00:26:21] [SPEAKER_15]: and they have to contain all of the people so that the mayor can eat them.

[00:26:25] [SPEAKER_15]: He's like, kill don't feed.

[00:26:27] [SPEAKER_15]: And then it goes back to Buffy in the gang.

[00:26:30] [SPEAKER_15]: They're talking about explosives.

[00:26:31] [SPEAKER_15]: And then Buffy says, Giles weapons, weapons, weapons.

[00:26:35] [SPEAKER_15]: And then back to the mayor and he goes, boys, let's watch the swearing.

[00:26:40] [SPEAKER_15]: Which I love that such a classic Mayor Wilkins moment.

[00:26:44] [SPEAKER_16]: He's one of my favorite villains on this show.

[00:26:47] [SPEAKER_15]: Like, I mean, favorite villains on any show.

[00:26:50] [SPEAKER_16]: Yeah, he's so charming and so just I don't know if another actor

[00:26:55] [SPEAKER_16]: could land these lines so well.

[00:26:58] [SPEAKER_15]: Yeah, he's so funny.

[00:26:59] [SPEAKER_03]: I guess we would talk about that later.

[00:27:03] [SPEAKER_15]: Well, do you want to talk about the mayor versus Angel in the hospital?

[00:27:07] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, well, I was gonna say the scene, I still remember watching that

[00:27:13] [SPEAKER_03]: when it first aired when he starts suffocating Buffy.

[00:27:18] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it goes on for a while and I remember being like, they can't do that.

[00:27:26] [SPEAKER_03]: Like somebody has to come in and it goes on just long enough

[00:27:30] [SPEAKER_03]: for you to start kind of freaking out.

[00:27:32] [SPEAKER_03]: And even when that nurse, I think it's a nurse comes in

[00:27:37] [SPEAKER_03]: and it's just like, sir, you can't do that.

[00:27:41] [SPEAKER_03]: It's like, well, no shit.

[00:27:43] [SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, he's not stopping.

[00:27:46] [SPEAKER_03]: And I love fifth grade me like 11 12 year old me also loved Angel coming in

[00:27:53] [SPEAKER_03]: and like ripping him off.

[00:27:55] [SPEAKER_03]: I know I did too.

[00:27:57] [SPEAKER_15]: She's very heroic.

[00:27:58] [SPEAKER_03]: He's his element.

[00:27:59] [SPEAKER_15]: All right, I've got to get the sound.

[00:28:01] [SPEAKER_12]: Murderous little fiend.

[00:28:03] [SPEAKER_12]: Did you see what you did to my faith?

[00:28:04] [SPEAKER_12]: I hadn't made plans to weep over that one.

[00:28:06] [SPEAKER_12]: Well, I could set for some weeping if I were you.

[00:28:08] [SPEAKER_12]: I could set for a world of pain.

[00:28:11] [SPEAKER_12]: Misery loves company, young man.

[00:28:12] [SPEAKER_12]: And I'm looking to share that with you and your whore.

[00:28:26] [SPEAKER_13]: Well, looks like somebody's been eating his spinach.

[00:28:31] [SPEAKER_13]: No, it's okay, folks.

[00:28:32] [SPEAKER_13]: It's all right.

[00:28:33] [SPEAKER_13]: The show is not over, but there will be a short intermission.

[00:28:38] [SPEAKER_13]: Don't want to miss the second act.

[00:28:41] [SPEAKER_12]: Oh, kinds of excitement.

[00:28:49] [SPEAKER_15]: I love that confrontation.

[00:28:52] [SPEAKER_15]: First of all, yeah, Angel drags the mayor away from Buffy has to physically pull him

[00:28:57] [SPEAKER_15]: off of Buffy with like his vampire strength.

[00:28:59] [SPEAKER_15]: And then the mayor calling Buffy a whore in that.

[00:29:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah, sir.

[00:29:06] [SPEAKER_02]: You just said language.

[00:29:08] [SPEAKER_15]: Yeah.

[00:29:09] [SPEAKER_15]: And he's so angry and all of his guard is down.

[00:29:14] [SPEAKER_15]: And then and then when he realizes people are watching him, you know,

[00:29:19] [SPEAKER_15]: he flips back into Mayor Wilkins and it is so creepy.

[00:29:23] [SPEAKER_03]: It really is the way he oscillates back and forth.

[00:29:27] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, one, I think he's trying to regulate his own temper and emotions because

[00:29:33] [SPEAKER_03]: losing control in a public setting like that, he knows one,

[00:29:37] [SPEAKER_03]: it's not going to help his ultimate plan of ascension.

[00:29:41] [SPEAKER_03]: And he just, he needs to go ahead, ascend, like do what he needs to do because if he

[00:29:50] [SPEAKER_03]: takes it too far at this point in time in front of a nurse already has seen the

[00:29:55] [SPEAKER_03]: mayor trying to kill a teenage girl.

[00:29:58] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, like he just, I think he did it one in order to kind of regain control of himself.

[00:30:07] [SPEAKER_03]: And he's so used to it.

[00:30:09] [SPEAKER_03]: It's like second nature for him to oscillate back and forth between those two personas.

[00:30:15] [SPEAKER_03]: And I mean, you can tell Angel has a little bit of whiplash there for a second too.

[00:30:22] [SPEAKER_15]: The scene right before it is amazing where I love that the doctor accuses Angel of

[00:30:28] [SPEAKER_15]: being on drugs.

[00:30:28] [SPEAKER_15]: I'm like, yeah, it's about time someone asked him that question.

[00:30:32] [SPEAKER_15]: The doctor is like so out of his depth, right?

[00:30:35] [SPEAKER_15]: He's like, you two been doing drugs and Angel's like, no, actually I'm a vampire

[00:30:39] [SPEAKER_15]: and I sucked her blood.

[00:30:44] [SPEAKER_16]: He is a doctor in Sunnydale.

[00:30:47] [SPEAKER_02]: I have so many questions.

[00:30:49] [SPEAKER_15]: I've seen some stuff.

[00:30:52] [SPEAKER_15]: He's like, oh, neck wound, huh?

[00:30:55] [SPEAKER_15]: Got it.

[00:30:59] [SPEAKER_15]: What cracks me up every time is first of all, Angel rips something off the wall.

[00:31:04] [SPEAKER_15]: And then he's like, he's like phone and they are like the doctor's like, you know,

[00:31:08] [SPEAKER_15]: it's over there or whatever.

[00:31:09] [SPEAKER_15]: And it's a payphone of course.

[00:31:11] [SPEAKER_15]: And Angel has a quarter ready.

[00:31:14] [SPEAKER_15]: I know.

[00:31:16] [SPEAKER_03]: He had to utilize payphones.

[00:31:19] [SPEAKER_15]: I know.

[00:31:19] [SPEAKER_15]: I was like, look at this ancient creature.

[00:31:22] [SPEAKER_15]: You went from your pajamas and dying to the hospital with Buffy.

[00:31:26] [SPEAKER_15]: When did you pick up spare change?

[00:31:29] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, adapt or die.

[00:31:31] [SPEAKER_03]: Maybe he has change in all of his pants.

[00:31:35] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.

[00:31:36] [SPEAKER_16]: Angel looks like someone who doesn't let things go.

[00:31:38] [SPEAKER_16]: So you just know, he just has just like random change in his pockets.

[00:31:42] [SPEAKER_16]: He's like, you never know when this ancient being has used antique.

[00:31:46] [SPEAKER_15]: It's probably still like European coins.

[00:31:53] [SPEAKER_15]: They do such a beautiful job of showing Angel at the payphone and then the camera

[00:31:59] [SPEAKER_15]: swings around to the mayor getting the news about Faith.

[00:32:04] [SPEAKER_15]: And then being like, you know, she's probably not going to wake up or anything.

[00:32:08] [SPEAKER_15]: And he's so distraught.

[00:32:10] [SPEAKER_15]: And then, and of course at that moment, the audience realizes like Buffy and Faith

[00:32:14] [SPEAKER_15]: are lying on either side of the same wall.

[00:32:17] [SPEAKER_03]: Like 10 feet away from each other maybe.

[00:32:22] [SPEAKER_16]: That's intense.

[00:32:23] [SPEAKER_16]: So good.

[00:32:25] [SPEAKER_16]: And yeah, also I kind of would have loved a scene of Angel calling collect.

[00:32:33] [SPEAKER_15]: Giles, I'm at the hospital.

[00:32:35] [SPEAKER_16]: Yeah, Giles, it's me.

[00:32:37] [SPEAKER_16]: Giles, it's me.

[00:32:39] [SPEAKER_16]: Well, you guys remember, right?

[00:32:40] [SPEAKER_16]: For those who are kids and didn't ever call collect.

[00:32:43] [SPEAKER_16]: A lot of times, like as I grew up in a pretty poor family,

[00:32:47] [SPEAKER_16]: we would try to get the whole message out before,

[00:32:50] [SPEAKER_16]: you know, the part where you're supposed to just say your name.

[00:32:51] [SPEAKER_16]: We would try to get the whole message out.

[00:32:53] [SPEAKER_15]: I need a ride from the high school.

[00:32:55] [SPEAKER_16]: And then yeah, if he's in the hospital.

[00:32:58] [SPEAKER_15]: Then your parent would be like, I don't accept the charges.

[00:33:02] [SPEAKER_15]: And then you'd have to because they got or you could just go.

[00:33:05] [SPEAKER_16]: Yep.

[00:33:05] [SPEAKER_16]: You got to be like, Giles, we're in the hospital because Giles is unemployed.

[00:33:10] [SPEAKER_16]: Especially at the end of this episode, there's no more library.

[00:33:13] [SPEAKER_15]: Yeah.

[00:33:15] [SPEAKER_15]: They really do a number on the high school.

[00:33:19] [SPEAKER_15]: So yeah, the hospital scene is amazing.

[00:33:21] [SPEAKER_15]: And then I really enjoy when the Scooby gang shows up

[00:33:26] [SPEAKER_15]: and they're like, what happened?

[00:33:28] [SPEAKER_15]: What happened?

[00:33:28] [SPEAKER_15]: And Angel's all like, uh, well.

[00:33:33] [SPEAKER_15]: Well.

[00:33:35] [SPEAKER_15]: Oz is like, you seem okay.

[00:33:41] [SPEAKER_15]: And then, you know, Xander gets to have a moment of joy

[00:33:45] [SPEAKER_15]: when he calls Angel out on it.

[00:33:47] [SPEAKER_15]: And he's like, you know, it's good to know when the chips are down.

[00:33:50] [SPEAKER_15]: You'll feed on the girl that loves you to save your own ass.

[00:33:53] [SPEAKER_15]: And I couldn't help being like, that was like Xander's best moment

[00:33:57] [SPEAKER_15]: in his entire high school career.

[00:33:58] [SPEAKER_15]: He's so happy that he got to say that.

[00:34:00] [SPEAKER_15]: Yeah.

[00:34:02] [SPEAKER_16]: He was an I told you so friend.

[00:34:05] [SPEAKER_16]: Yeah, he was an I told you so friend.

[00:34:07] [SPEAKER_16]: Which kind of brings me to the scenes before the feeding and the hospital

[00:34:18] [SPEAKER_16]: with like COVID Angel moping and noping out when he saw it was Willow and not Buffy.

[00:34:26] [SPEAKER_16]: And it's just like, I love that part.

[00:34:29] [SPEAKER_16]: Oh, Willow, not worth my time.

[00:34:34] [SPEAKER_16]: I was, I don't think it was supposed to be funny, but I was cracking up.

[00:34:40] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, like it's like, yeah, it's me.

[00:34:42] [SPEAKER_16]: Yeah, he's like, oh, not worth my energy.

[00:34:46] [SPEAKER_16]: And then, and then like I, I laughed when like, like, Buffy came in like knowing what

[00:34:54] [SPEAKER_16]: she was going to have to do.

[00:34:55] [SPEAKER_16]: I think she realized what she had to do when she was staring up in that,

[00:34:58] [SPEAKER_16]: in that moment in the beginning of the episode.

[00:35:00] [SPEAKER_16]: And it looks like Willow and Oz are about to get it on.

[00:35:04] [SPEAKER_16]: And I'm like, sorry to interrupt your like almost sex capade while my boyfriend's dying.

[00:35:11] [SPEAKER_16]: You guys can go home now.

[00:35:14] [SPEAKER_16]: And also like the one part where Oz is like, I think Willow says something to the effect of

[00:35:19] [SPEAKER_16]: he thought it was Buffy and Oz was like, you too.

[00:35:21] [SPEAKER_16]: And I was like, where was that scene?

[00:35:23] [SPEAKER_02]: I want to see him trying to like make out with Oz or something.

[00:35:26] [SPEAKER_02]: I love that's funny.

[00:35:29] [SPEAKER_15]: That scene with Buffy, when Buffy, first of all, she,

[00:35:32] [SPEAKER_15]: she hits Angel repeatedly to turn him into vamp mode so that he'll, he'll feed off of her.

[00:35:38] [SPEAKER_15]: And even at the time I was like, you know, this is a horrible model for young women

[00:35:45] [SPEAKER_15]: about relationships.

[00:35:47] [SPEAKER_15]: Like only on Buffy the vampire slayer is like beating the crap out of your boyfriend.

[00:35:52] [SPEAKER_15]: Like when you're okay.

[00:35:55] [SPEAKER_15]: And like, I just, she also like in, you know, later episodes fights with a different love

[00:36:04] [SPEAKER_15]: interest and yes.

[00:36:05] [SPEAKER_14]: Mm-hmm.

[00:36:07] [SPEAKER_15]: I just want the show to have like a pop up, like pop up video.

[00:36:10] [SPEAKER_15]: Why is it hot?

[00:36:12] [SPEAKER_15]: Violence in teenage romance is not okay.

[00:36:16] [SPEAKER_16]: I know because like the blood drinking scene was hot.

[00:36:21] [SPEAKER_16]: That is so sexual.

[00:36:24] [SPEAKER_16]: I'm not sure it was supposed to, someone's like, did they mean for this to be so

[00:36:27] [SPEAKER_16]: fricking hot?

[00:36:28] [SPEAKER_16]: Like that is so intentional.

[00:36:32] [SPEAKER_03]: In general, like there's a sexual aspect to it of sucking someone's blood and like

[00:36:38] [SPEAKER_03]: taking a part of them inside you.

[00:36:39] [SPEAKER_03]: And to become a vampire, I know like to become a vampire, you have to drink some

[00:36:45] [SPEAKER_03]: of their blood and it's just, it, it's just, you can't help it.

[00:36:49] [SPEAKER_03]: It's just, yeah.

[00:36:50] [SPEAKER_15]: I mean, it's been used as a sexual metaphor so many times in fiction.

[00:36:56] [SPEAKER_15]: I think they just did a really good job of it here.

[00:36:59] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:37:00] [SPEAKER_15]: It was very sensual and they did really cool camera things where they like

[00:37:05] [SPEAKER_15]: focused on Buffy's eye and then her hand like crushing whatever that thing was

[00:37:09] [SPEAKER_15]: that she crushed.

[00:37:12] [SPEAKER_15]: Yeah, some kick out.

[00:37:14] [SPEAKER_15]: Yeah.

[00:37:14] [SPEAKER_15]: Metal.

[00:37:15] [SPEAKER_03]: But if you think about, I don't because like when she like looked at the table,

[00:37:21] [SPEAKER_03]: I was like.

[00:37:22] [SPEAKER_03]: But when you think about signs of pain compared to signs of pleasure, if you take

[00:37:29] [SPEAKER_03]: sound out of it, sounds that people make even some sounds, it looks very

[00:37:34] [SPEAKER_03]: similar.

[00:37:35] [SPEAKER_03]: Like if she was gripping onto his back really intensely or like pulling

[00:37:40] [SPEAKER_03]: hair or like grabbing onto a table really hard, like those things can be

[00:37:44] [SPEAKER_03]: signs of both pain and pleasure.

[00:37:48] [SPEAKER_03]: So the whole scene, I would love to know how much they coordinated.

[00:37:52] [SPEAKER_03]: How much of that was intentional and choreographed?

[00:37:57] [SPEAKER_03]: Kind of a fun insight.

[00:38:00] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, sorry.

[00:38:00] [SPEAKER_15]: The phenomenon of intimacy coordinators is a lot newer than this show.

[00:38:06] [SPEAKER_03]: Game of Thrones, I feel like is when it really took off.

[00:38:11] [SPEAKER_03]: It needed to.

[00:38:13] [SPEAKER_15]: Well, there was a lot of people who have come out about movies and TV

[00:38:18] [SPEAKER_15]: shows that were made in the 80s and 90s being like, yeah, they'd expect

[00:38:21] [SPEAKER_15]: me to just be naked with like a full set on set.

[00:38:27] [SPEAKER_15]: But I've never heard that about this show, that it was handled in any way

[00:38:32] [SPEAKER_15]: disrespectfully.

[00:38:34] [SPEAKER_15]: I've heard the two actors joke about it, Sarah and David being like,

[00:38:40] [SPEAKER_15]: haha, that was awkward.

[00:38:41] [SPEAKER_15]: And like, yeah, it's so weird because you have to lie in these

[00:38:45] [SPEAKER_15]: uncomfortable, unnatural positions for the camera angles.

[00:38:48] [SPEAKER_15]: And it's not sexy at all.

[00:38:50] [SPEAKER_16]: Yeah, that's been pretty universal.

[00:38:52] [SPEAKER_16]: Everyone's like, it's not sexy.

[00:38:54] [SPEAKER_16]: And it's like, no, I get that.

[00:38:55] [SPEAKER_16]: It doesn't seem like it.

[00:38:57] [SPEAKER_16]: So kind of a fun neuroscience fact.

[00:39:01] [SPEAKER_16]: Kara, you were saying pain and pleasure look similar and sound

[00:39:03] [SPEAKER_16]: similar.

[00:39:04] [SPEAKER_16]: They're actually pretty similar in the brain when you're involved

[00:39:06] [SPEAKER_16]: with sexual activity.

[00:39:08] [SPEAKER_16]: So actually, that's why people will bring up liking a little bit of

[00:39:12] [SPEAKER_16]: pain or more than a little bit during sexual activities is your brain

[00:39:15] [SPEAKER_16]: actually lower your pain response and it's located closer in the brain to

[00:39:21] [SPEAKER_16]: the pleasure center.

[00:39:22] [SPEAKER_16]: So it ends up overlapping.

[00:39:24] [SPEAKER_16]: Little neuroscience geeky thing.

[00:39:26] [SPEAKER_16]: It's like vampires are extra sexy to neuroscientists.

[00:39:29] [SPEAKER_16]: They're like, yeah.

[00:39:35] [SPEAKER_15]: And the scene goes on like a little longer than I'm comfortable with.

[00:39:40] [SPEAKER_15]: Like he's sucking her blood and then he's sucking her blood and

[00:39:44] [SPEAKER_15]: sucking her blood and I'm like, is he going to take it all?

[00:39:48] [SPEAKER_03]: Like, I know you can't drain her.

[00:39:51] [SPEAKER_03]: And it's so frustrating knowing that faith is not dead.

[00:39:56] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, he could conceivably still, you know, use faith's blood instead.

[00:40:02] [SPEAKER_03]: Although logistically, I don't know how they would make that work, but

[00:40:04] [SPEAKER_03]: it's extra frustrating.

[00:40:05] [SPEAKER_03]: Be like, oh, she's not dead.

[00:40:07] [SPEAKER_03]: Like, or she's not thriving off on a truck somewhere.

[00:40:10] [SPEAKER_03]: Like, yeah, she is reachable and he's over here about to kill Buffy.

[00:40:16] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah.

[00:40:16] [SPEAKER_16]: He has tremendous self-control, I guess.

[00:40:19] [SPEAKER_16]: Yeah, because he stopped and it's like this is the love of his life and

[00:40:23] [SPEAKER_16]: everything.

[00:40:24] [SPEAKER_16]: And it's sort of like when we see Xander later on, he's like, oh,

[00:40:28] [SPEAKER_16]: and he makes like the the quippy comment and it's like, but that was her choice

[00:40:33] [SPEAKER_02]: and you fucking know it was her choice.

[00:40:36] [SPEAKER_16]: And like, oh, Xander respect your friend.

[00:40:39] [SPEAKER_16]: You can be upset.

[00:40:40] [SPEAKER_16]: I think everyone's kind of upset at the circumstances, but they all get it.

[00:40:44] [SPEAKER_03]: Even Giles gets it.

[00:40:45] [SPEAKER_03]: How long the blood sucking scene goes on with Buffy and she, and maybe

[00:40:51] [SPEAKER_03]: I have to tell myself maybe it's some sort of her like slayer regenerative

[00:40:57] [SPEAKER_03]: powers because the number of times they show vampires sucking someone's

[00:41:02] [SPEAKER_03]: blood, like biting their neck for a few seconds and they drop dead.

[00:41:05] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:41:06] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh yeah.

[00:41:06] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:41:08] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay.

[00:41:09] [SPEAKER_03]: So Buffy is a slayer.

[00:41:12] [SPEAKER_15]: Super awesome.

[00:41:13] [SPEAKER_15]: Extra good blood.

[00:41:17] [SPEAKER_15]: That's a pet name of mine on the show is how the vampires kill people

[00:41:21] [SPEAKER_15]: with like what it's like nip dead, like it's so fast usually.

[00:41:26] [SPEAKER_03]: And I'm always like, they're like super sucking powers that we can't see.

[00:41:32] [SPEAKER_16]: It's like, isn't this a meal?

[00:41:34] [SPEAKER_16]: Aren't you always hungry?

[00:41:35] [SPEAKER_16]: Finish your food.

[00:41:36] [SPEAKER_16]: You cannot leave the table.

[00:41:38] [SPEAKER_16]: You cannot leave the corpse until you finish.

[00:41:40] [SPEAKER_15]: Drain all the blood.

[00:41:42] [SPEAKER_15]: Don't you want all the blood?

[00:41:44] [SPEAKER_15]: Diarrhast.

[00:41:45] [SPEAKER_15]: This is someone's life.

[00:41:47] [SPEAKER_15]: Ridiculous, but he does get her to the hospital and the Scooby gang does come.

[00:41:54] [SPEAKER_16]: And it's the worst ER I've ever seen.

[00:41:56] [SPEAKER_15]: Yeah.

[00:41:57] [SPEAKER_16]: I just worked in a hospital.

[00:41:58] [SPEAKER_15]: I was like, I also want to know like does Faith have a power of attorney for

[00:42:04] [SPEAKER_15]: the mayor or what?

[00:42:06] [SPEAKER_15]: Why are the doctors just telling him all of her medical information?

[00:42:11] [SPEAKER_15]: Did he say he's her dad?

[00:42:13] [SPEAKER_15]: Like just because he's the mayor.

[00:42:15] [SPEAKER_02]: There's like zero.

[00:42:17] [SPEAKER_15]: It is a very corrupt.

[00:42:19] [SPEAKER_15]: I mean, it's pretty HIPAA, but like, yeah.

[00:42:22] [SPEAKER_02]: So terrible.

[00:42:24] [SPEAKER_15]: So terrible.

[00:42:25] [SPEAKER_15]: Yeah.

[00:42:25] [SPEAKER_15]: I'm like, hey, that's her personal private health information.

[00:42:29] [SPEAKER_15]: But yeah, it's a TV show.

[00:42:30] [SPEAKER_15]: Honey, shut up.

[00:42:32] [SPEAKER_03]: I know.

[00:42:33] [SPEAKER_03]: I know you have to turn off that part of the brain, but you can't help it.

[00:42:37] [SPEAKER_16]: I know it is kind of like the huh?

[00:42:39] [SPEAKER_16]: What is this?

[00:42:40] [SPEAKER_16]: Like the Sunnydale powers.

[00:42:44] [SPEAKER_16]: But yeah, I thought it was just everyone just handled it really well.

[00:42:49] [SPEAKER_16]: The emotions were so wonderful to see played out and I really liked the Faith

[00:42:56] [SPEAKER_16]: and Buffy dream.

[00:42:57] [SPEAKER_16]: It still gives me goosebumps when I watch it.

[00:43:00] [SPEAKER_15]: Yeah.

[00:43:00] [SPEAKER_15]: I especially like when Buffy says, is this your mind or mine?

[00:43:06] [SPEAKER_15]: And Faith is like beats me.

[00:43:08] [SPEAKER_15]: And yeah, it's this moment where even though they've become adversaries,

[00:43:13] [SPEAKER_15]: they're still the only two people who understand certain things about each other.

[00:43:19] [SPEAKER_16]: Which like so I was watching it and I think the first time I watched it

[00:43:23] [SPEAKER_16]: and like until watching it with a lens for like podcasting,

[00:43:27] [SPEAKER_16]: I hadn't thought about this this way.

[00:43:28] [SPEAKER_16]: I was like, was that Faith in her dream?

[00:43:32] [SPEAKER_16]: Like was it solely her or was it someone else?

[00:43:37] [SPEAKER_16]: Because she says like take what you need.

[00:43:40] [SPEAKER_16]: Yeah.

[00:43:41] [SPEAKER_16]: What from her?

[00:43:43] [SPEAKER_16]: From her energy, her drive, her because-

[00:43:46] [SPEAKER_15]: I mean, yeah, she doesn't mean the actual stuff.

[00:43:49] [SPEAKER_15]: It's like, yeah.

[00:43:51] [SPEAKER_16]: I was like and she says some other stuff that is spoiler,

[00:43:54] [SPEAKER_16]: but like I was just like I was watching it and I was like,

[00:43:58] [SPEAKER_16]: I think this is Faith.

[00:44:01] [SPEAKER_15]: But is it-

[00:44:02] [SPEAKER_15]: Or is it just Buffy's projection of Faith?

[00:44:04] [SPEAKER_16]: Yeah, because they never shared,

[00:44:06] [SPEAKER_16]: like spoilers, but they don't share a dream going forward.

[00:44:10] [SPEAKER_16]: So I'm like-

[00:44:11] [SPEAKER_16]: Or before.

[00:44:13] [SPEAKER_16]: Yeah, or before.

[00:44:14] [SPEAKER_16]: And so I think for the first time I was like, is this her?

[00:44:18] [SPEAKER_03]: Well, because we know, well, I assumed that

[00:44:25] [SPEAKER_03]: it was her and that's only because not based on really evidence or anything,

[00:44:30] [SPEAKER_03]: but mainly because we know the first evil has been able to

[00:44:35] [SPEAKER_03]: have Buffy and Angel appear to each other in dreams.

[00:44:39] [SPEAKER_03]: I assume that forces and energy with the Slayers,

[00:44:42] [SPEAKER_03]: like this mysticism surrounding the history of the Slayers,

[00:44:45] [SPEAKER_03]: there has to be some sort of equivalent.

[00:44:49] [SPEAKER_03]: What's the-

[00:44:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Like the powers that be.

[00:44:52] [SPEAKER_16]: Yeah.

[00:44:53] [SPEAKER_16]: Like the powers that be is more an angel, but they're around.

[00:44:57] [SPEAKER_15]: It's also-

[00:44:59] [SPEAKER_03]: Complimentary power.

[00:45:01] [SPEAKER_03]: There you go.

[00:45:01] Yeah.

[00:45:02] [SPEAKER_15]: The Slayers have this semi prophetic ability, right?

[00:45:06] [SPEAKER_15]: Buffy has dreams sometimes that tell her what's coming.

[00:45:10] [SPEAKER_15]: And it stands to reason that Faith does as well.

[00:45:13] [SPEAKER_15]: It seems to be part of the Slayer package.

[00:45:16] [SPEAKER_15]: And I don't know much about magic, but if both of them are having prophetic dreams

[00:45:23] [SPEAKER_15]: and they're only 10 feet apart, it just makes sense that they might bump into

[00:45:27] [SPEAKER_15]: each other on the astral plane or whatever.

[00:45:30] [SPEAKER_15]: But I have watched every episode of Supernatural and they do that kind of crap all the time.

[00:45:36] [SPEAKER_15]: I might be getting my mythologies mixed up.

[00:45:39] [SPEAKER_16]: I mean, it makes sense.

[00:45:41] [SPEAKER_16]: And I was just curious because I've always thought it was Faith.

[00:45:45] [SPEAKER_16]: And then when I was watching it, I was like, she never was this chill with Buffy.

[00:45:52] [SPEAKER_15]: In a coma.

[00:45:53] [SPEAKER_15]: Yeah.

[00:45:56] [SPEAKER_15]: I love the line later when Willow is like, Faith told you?

[00:46:02] [SPEAKER_15]: And Buffy's like, yeah.

[00:46:03] [SPEAKER_15]: She's like, was that before or after you put her in a coma?

[00:46:05] [SPEAKER_15]: Or yeah.

[00:46:06] [SPEAKER_15]: He's like, oh, after.

[00:46:08] [SPEAKER_15]: Willow just makes this like, oh, put a pin in that and ask her about that later

[00:46:13] [SPEAKER_15]: because that's weird.

[00:46:16] [SPEAKER_15]: Yes, exactly.

[00:46:19] [SPEAKER_16]: It's like, and then, you know, oh, well, I'll save it for the spoiler section

[00:46:26] [SPEAKER_16]: because I think that was another reason I was like, that made me wonder.

[00:46:33] [SPEAKER_03]: I do think Buffy thinks ultimately lands on it being Faith.

[00:46:38] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:46:40] [SPEAKER_03]: 100%.

[00:46:40] [SPEAKER_03]: Being 100%.

[00:46:41] [SPEAKER_03]: Actually, Faith's whatever consciousness, however you want to frame it.

[00:46:47] [SPEAKER_03]: Because even the way she tells Willow so matter of factly,

[00:46:50] [SPEAKER_03]: she takes it as coming from Faith, not like, oh, I had a dream or Faith said

[00:46:55] [SPEAKER_03]: something in my dream.

[00:46:56] [SPEAKER_03]: She seems to think that Faith, she made an appearance.

[00:47:00] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes.

[00:47:01] [SPEAKER_16]: Because think about it.

[00:47:02] [SPEAKER_16]: What's a better way to get Buffy's trust?

[00:47:05] [SPEAKER_16]: If you have a message to give her, be someone that she could communicate

[00:47:09] [SPEAKER_16]: with in the spiritual plane.

[00:47:10] [SPEAKER_16]: And someone who had an in with a mare.

[00:47:12] [SPEAKER_16]: I don't know, it's my little like conspiracy theory or maybe it's like Faith

[00:47:16] [SPEAKER_16]: tapped into something else because she says something that there's no way

[00:47:19] [SPEAKER_16]: she could have known about.

[00:47:21] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:47:22] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, that dream.

[00:47:23] [SPEAKER_03]: Such an important dream.

[00:47:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Also the cat.

[00:47:32] [SPEAKER_16]: Is the cat Faith?

[00:47:33] [SPEAKER_16]: Is it like that?

[00:47:34] [SPEAKER_16]: She's like, who's going to take care of her?

[00:47:35] [SPEAKER_16]: She takes care of herself or something like that.

[00:47:37] [SPEAKER_16]: And I was like, the cat's supposed to be you, Faith.

[00:47:41] [SPEAKER_15]: Yeah.

[00:47:41] [SPEAKER_15]: Who is the cat?

[00:47:42] [SPEAKER_15]: Who does the cat represent?

[00:47:45] [SPEAKER_15]: And then Buffy, after she wakes up, she gives Faith just the most gentle

[00:47:50] [SPEAKER_15]: kiss on the forehead.

[00:47:52] [SPEAKER_15]: And it's just evidence of how complicated their relationship is because

[00:48:01] [SPEAKER_15]: they hate each other.

[00:48:02] [SPEAKER_15]: They love each other.

[00:48:04] [SPEAKER_15]: They understand each other.

[00:48:05] [SPEAKER_15]: They're so different from each other.

[00:48:08] [SPEAKER_15]: There's so many things going on there.

[00:48:11] [SPEAKER_15]: And if Faith were awake, Buffy never would have shown affection to her like that.

[00:48:18] [SPEAKER_15]: She needs to have her guard up all the time.

[00:48:20] [SPEAKER_15]: But with Faith unconscious, you can see that Buffy still loves her.

[00:48:25] [SPEAKER_16]: Yeah, absolutely.

[00:48:28] [SPEAKER_16]: It is interesting because I don't think any other time in the Slayer history

[00:48:31] [SPEAKER_16]: that there's been two other than what Buffy has encountered.

[00:48:35] [SPEAKER_15]: Yeah, but I don't think Buffy and Kendra and now Buffy and Faith.

[00:48:39] [SPEAKER_03]: One of the odds though that, I mean, I guess statistically it would be likely that two

[00:48:47] [SPEAKER_03]: existed at the same time due to the nature of the job, but not interacting.

[00:48:55] [SPEAKER_03]: That's the thing.

[00:48:56] [SPEAKER_03]: So there could have been two on completely different ends of the planet

[00:49:00] [SPEAKER_03]: or in different countries.

[00:49:02] [SPEAKER_03]: But the fact that Buffy now has interacted with Kendra and then Faith,

[00:49:11] [SPEAKER_03]: it seems unprecedented.

[00:49:14] [SPEAKER_15]: It's a little tidy.

[00:49:17] [SPEAKER_16]: Those CPR in earlier histories.

[00:49:22] [SPEAKER_15]: So Buffy comes out and she sees the gang and she's walking slow

[00:49:28] [SPEAKER_15]: and looking like she's hurting, but she says...

[00:49:33] [SPEAKER_15]: Buffy!

[00:49:35] [SPEAKER_10]: Are you okay?

[00:49:35] [SPEAKER_10]: How do you feel?

[00:49:37] [SPEAKER_06]: Is Ano here?

[00:49:38] [SPEAKER_10]: He had to go.

[00:49:39] [SPEAKER_10]: It got kind of sunny.

[00:49:41] [SPEAKER_06]: Get him.

[00:49:42] [SPEAKER_06]: Get everyone.

[00:49:43] [SPEAKER_07]: What exactly is that?

[00:49:45] [SPEAKER_07]: Buffy, are you sure you're all right?

[00:49:47] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm ready.

[00:49:50] [SPEAKER_04]: Ready for what?

[00:49:53] [SPEAKER_04]: War.

[00:49:56] [SPEAKER_03]: I love that.

[00:49:58] [SPEAKER_03]: It's so funny.

[00:49:59] [SPEAKER_15]: I was thinking about this.

[00:50:02] [SPEAKER_15]: I was watching something on Amazon Prime and I was watching Rings of Power

[00:50:07] [SPEAKER_15]: and I recently stepped down my level on Amazon Prime from no ads to ads

[00:50:15] [SPEAKER_15]: and they just throw the ads in wherever.

[00:50:18] [SPEAKER_15]: There's no attempt to put them where a scene breaks.

[00:50:22] [SPEAKER_15]: I was thinking about how shows are made so differently now because

[00:50:27] [SPEAKER_15]: so many of them are made for streaming or for a no ads situation

[00:50:32] [SPEAKER_15]: and they don't have these same beats that we got with shows like Buffy

[00:50:37] [SPEAKER_15]: where there's a clear ad break after that.

[00:50:41] [SPEAKER_03]: That has to change how you write an episode of a show.

[00:50:47] [SPEAKER_03]: I would love to see Buffy now on HBO just for funsies.

[00:50:54] [SPEAKER_15]: The golden age of television quality would be amazing.

[00:50:59] [SPEAKER_16]: Yeah, it would be a hard thing to live up to.

[00:51:03] [SPEAKER_16]: I think of the Gossip Girl remake so it's like, oh, I don't know.

[00:51:07] [SPEAKER_03]: It's just fresh.

[00:51:09] [SPEAKER_03]: If it didn't already exist, if it had started originally now,

[00:51:14] [SPEAKER_03]: first of all, the sex scenes would have been way more intense.

[00:51:18] [SPEAKER_03]: We all saw True Blood.

[00:51:20] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:51:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh boy.

[00:51:23] [SPEAKER_03]: It'd be very different.

[00:51:27] [SPEAKER_16]: Buffy would be an influencer.

[00:51:32] [SPEAKER_16]: TikTok would be all the rage.

[00:51:35] [SPEAKER_03]: The number of times a cell phone would have helped them or saved them.

[00:51:41] [SPEAKER_15]: There is a version of the Buffy comics that starts in 2019 or something like that

[00:51:48] [SPEAKER_15]: where it's like, what if Buffy happened now?

[00:51:51] [SPEAKER_15]: And it starts from a much more recent time.

[00:51:56] [SPEAKER_15]: It's cell phones and social media and all that stuff is part of it.

[00:52:01] [SPEAKER_15]: It's a weird...

[00:52:02] [SPEAKER_15]: I haven't read very many episodes issues of it because it weirds me out.

[00:52:06] [SPEAKER_15]: Kendra goes to high school with them and Sota's faith.

[00:52:12] [SPEAKER_15]: And it reminds me in a weird way of Muppet Babies.

[00:52:18] [SPEAKER_15]: We all have them together.

[00:52:20] [SPEAKER_15]: We don't need to worry about why they're together.

[00:52:22] [SPEAKER_15]: Just have them together.

[00:52:25] [SPEAKER_15]: I just imagined a Muppet Babie angel.

[00:52:29] [SPEAKER_16]: A tiny angel.

[00:52:31] [SPEAKER_16]: So cute.

[00:52:33] [SPEAKER_16]: It was like the Angelus baby.

[00:52:38] [SPEAKER_16]: Oh my...

[00:52:39] [SPEAKER_16]: Oh, Spike would totally have been an influencer.

[00:52:41] [SPEAKER_15]: Oh my gosh.

[00:52:43] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:52:45] [SPEAKER_15]: He would have had a really great social media channel where he pretended to be a vampire.

[00:52:51] [SPEAKER_15]: Right?

[00:52:55] [SPEAKER_16]: And what do we want to talk about today, my lovelies?

[00:52:57] [SPEAKER_16]: And he'll be very sensitive to any negative criticism.

[00:53:00] [SPEAKER_16]: Oh my God.

[00:53:01] [SPEAKER_16]: And Harmony would turn off all the comments.

[00:53:03] [SPEAKER_16]: Oh my gosh.

[00:53:04] [SPEAKER_16]: Harmony would...

[00:53:07] [SPEAKER_16]: Yeah.

[00:53:07] [SPEAKER_16]: And like, Korty would be like, here's how you look like a 40-year-old soccer mom in high school.

[00:53:13] [SPEAKER_15]: My paralegal outfit that I'm wearing.

[00:53:17] [SPEAKER_16]: I don't know what they had against that actress,

[00:53:20] [SPEAKER_16]: but they made her look so much older than she even was.

[00:53:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it was ridiculous.

[00:53:26] [SPEAKER_02]: Bonkers.

[00:53:27] [SPEAKER_15]: And also like, I don't know, boring.

[00:53:30] [SPEAKER_15]: Like her clothes at the end of season three are all so corporatey.

[00:53:34] [SPEAKER_16]: No, it's not good.

[00:53:36] [SPEAKER_16]: Xander would have been an incel for sure.

[00:53:38] [SPEAKER_16]: He would have found his online community of like, yeah,

[00:53:41] [SPEAKER_16]: she gives it up for the vampires, not for you.

[00:53:43] [SPEAKER_16]: Joe Rogan.

[00:53:45] [SPEAKER_16]: Yeah, Joe Rogan would be like, look at this Chad over here, Becky and Chad's.

[00:53:50] [SPEAKER_15]: Yeah.

[00:53:51] [SPEAKER_15]: Oh God.

[00:53:52] [SPEAKER_15]: Oz would have been exactly the same.

[00:53:54] [SPEAKER_14]: Yeah, he would.

[00:53:57] [SPEAKER_14]: He would have.

[00:53:59] [SPEAKER_16]: No change.

[00:54:00] [SPEAKER_16]: You're so right.

[00:54:03] [SPEAKER_16]: Just amazing.

[00:54:04] [SPEAKER_16]: And he would have his own like, cultural following on like, Instagram.

[00:54:09] [SPEAKER_16]: But he just wouldn't update it.

[00:54:10] [SPEAKER_16]: He'd just be like, it's all cool.

[00:54:12] [SPEAKER_16]: He'd still have a MySpace page.

[00:54:14] [SPEAKER_14]: Yes!

[00:54:14] [SPEAKER_14]: He'd be like, I love that.

[00:54:15] [SPEAKER_14]: I love my MySpace page.

[00:54:17] [SPEAKER_16]: Yes!

[00:54:19] [SPEAKER_16]: Yes!

[00:54:20] [SPEAKER_16]: Oh my gosh, that's so funny.

[00:54:21] [SPEAKER_15]: That is so true.

[00:54:23] [SPEAKER_15]: Oh God.

[00:54:24] [SPEAKER_15]: And now that somebody needs to make that show, that'd be great.

[00:54:28] [SPEAKER_15]: And then your dream casting for a Buffy 2024 reboot.

[00:54:32] [SPEAKER_16]: Yeah, who would you have?

[00:54:34] [SPEAKER_16]: Like for all of the characters revisited,

[00:54:37] [SPEAKER_16]: I would also love to see either a bisexual or a gay Xander character.

[00:54:41] [SPEAKER_16]: I think this did a great job with the Willow storyline,

[00:54:44] [SPEAKER_16]: and I would like a representation in that.

[00:54:48] [SPEAKER_15]: I agree.

[00:54:49] [SPEAKER_15]: I would also like to see what happens.

[00:54:52] [SPEAKER_15]: Now we're way off topic.

[00:54:54] [SPEAKER_15]: We're on a tangent.

[00:54:55] [SPEAKER_15]: It stopped going off topic.

[00:54:57] [SPEAKER_15]: Wasn't off topic.

[00:54:58] [SPEAKER_15]: It's gonna get relevant in a second.

[00:55:00] [SPEAKER_15]: But what would happen if one of the Slayer potentials were trans or intersex?

[00:55:10] [SPEAKER_15]: Wait, how does the magic work?

[00:55:15] [SPEAKER_16]: Yep.

[00:55:15] [SPEAKER_16]: That would be interesting.

[00:55:17] [SPEAKER_16]: I would love that kind of thing.

[00:55:19] [SPEAKER_16]: I think it needs to be done.

[00:55:21] [SPEAKER_16]: Comic books, everyone.

[00:55:22] [SPEAKER_16]: I think it would be amazing.

[00:55:24] [SPEAKER_15]: Everybody out there in the Buffyverse, you heard us.

[00:55:26] [SPEAKER_15]: That's what we want.

[00:55:28] [SPEAKER_16]: Let's go!

[00:55:32] [SPEAKER_16]: I have it in my notes that I cackled when Buffy teamed up Xander and Angel.

[00:55:37] [SPEAKER_15]: Oh yeah.

[00:55:39] [SPEAKER_15]: Angel.

[00:55:40] [SPEAKER_15]: And Xander's so like, am I still the key guy?

[00:55:43] [SPEAKER_15]: I want to be the key guy.

[00:55:45] [SPEAKER_15]: He's such a child about it.

[00:55:47] [SPEAKER_15]: And Angel's like, it's fine.

[00:55:49] [SPEAKER_16]: Angel looked so disappointed to be paired up with Xander.

[00:55:55] [SPEAKER_16]: He was just like, ugh, this guy.

[00:55:57] [SPEAKER_16]: And it's like, it's cool, eh?

[00:55:58] [SPEAKER_16]: I'd be bummed too if I was paired up with Xander of all people.

[00:56:03] [SPEAKER_16]: You have a witch.

[00:56:04] [SPEAKER_16]: You have a werewolf.

[00:56:05] [SPEAKER_16]: You have a vampire.

[00:56:07] [SPEAKER_16]: But you get this guy who is key.

[00:56:12] [SPEAKER_16]: But he says, am I still the key guy?

[00:56:14] [SPEAKER_16]: Like, oh man.

[00:56:16] [SPEAKER_15]: Once you say it, it stops being cool.

[00:56:19] [SPEAKER_15]: Yeah.

[00:56:20] [SPEAKER_16]: Like, I mean, Xander, way to go.

[00:56:22] [SPEAKER_16]: Like, you bummed out someone who has gone through a lifetime of tragedy.

[00:56:26] [SPEAKER_16]: And he's like, ugh, really?

[00:56:30] [SPEAKER_16]: I just thought that was super funny.

[00:56:32] [SPEAKER_16]: I love it.

[00:56:33] [SPEAKER_15]: I love the whole, like, I love the plan coming together montage.

[00:56:39] [SPEAKER_15]: I never get tired of those kind of scenes where it's like, you do this, you do that.

[00:56:43] [SPEAKER_15]: And everyone's going in different directions.

[00:56:45] [SPEAKER_15]: And then we get the Xander goes and tells Harmony the plan.

[00:56:50] [SPEAKER_15]: And Willow goes and tells Percy the plan.

[00:56:52] [SPEAKER_15]: It's so funny when she's like, in public?

[00:56:54] [SPEAKER_15]: I love that.

[00:56:56] Yeah.

[00:56:56] [SPEAKER_16]: Oh my gosh.

[00:56:57] [SPEAKER_16]: I have that.

[00:56:58] [SPEAKER_16]: I just have Harmony!

[00:57:00] [SPEAKER_16]: Exclamation point.

[00:57:01] [SPEAKER_16]: Harmony.

[00:57:01] [SPEAKER_16]: I need to talk to you for a sec.

[00:57:03] [SPEAKER_16]: You mean in front of other people?

[00:57:08] [SPEAKER_16]: Oh my gosh.

[00:57:10] [SPEAKER_15]: She has like one sentence.

[00:57:14] [SPEAKER_15]: She steals every scene she's in.

[00:57:17] [SPEAKER_15]: Every scene?

[00:57:18] [SPEAKER_03]: She's so funny.

[00:57:18] [SPEAKER_03]: She's so fantastic.

[00:57:20] [SPEAKER_03]: I have to, like, hold my tongue and not say things that are spoilery.

[00:57:26] [SPEAKER_03]: I know.

[00:57:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:57:28] [SPEAKER_03]: God, I love her so much.

[00:57:28] [SPEAKER_16]: That really cracked me up.

[00:57:30] [SPEAKER_16]: I just, I adored it.

[00:57:33] [SPEAKER_16]: And I think if I'm correct, maybe I'll just save that for the spoiler section.

[00:57:40] [SPEAKER_16]: But yeah, we did see her get bit by a vampire in this episode.

[00:57:44] [SPEAKER_16]: Yes.

[00:57:44] [SPEAKER_16]: Yes, we did.

[00:57:45] [SPEAKER_16]: We did.

[00:57:46] [SPEAKER_03]: I was like, oh.

[00:57:47] [SPEAKER_03]: I remember there was a lot of talk after this specifically about her and Larry.

[00:57:54] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:57:54] [SPEAKER_03]: Who is dead.

[00:57:55] [SPEAKER_03]: People were mad about Larry.

[00:57:56] [SPEAKER_15]: They're like, why do you have to kill the one out gay character?

[00:57:59] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I didn't realize he was dead until season four.

[00:58:03] [SPEAKER_03]: Apparently in media, well, did.

[00:58:06] [SPEAKER_03]: It's a little better now.

[00:58:08] [SPEAKER_15]: Oh, but they called it, yeah, the kill your gays trope.

[00:58:11] [SPEAKER_15]: I recently had a conversation with someone about this in relation to The 100.

[00:58:17] [SPEAKER_15]: And there were a lot of people who were very upset when Lexa gets killed off.

[00:58:22] [SPEAKER_15]: And they're like, oh, it's kill your gays.

[00:58:24] [SPEAKER_15]: And I'm like, eh.

[00:58:25] [SPEAKER_15]: When you make your main character bisexual, it's different because all her love interests get killed.

[00:58:34] [SPEAKER_15]: So if you want to have a main character, then like their love interests get killed.

[00:58:40] [SPEAKER_15]: That's part of the deal.

[00:58:42] [SPEAKER_16]: And also she wanted off the series to go be in another series.

[00:58:46] [SPEAKER_16]: So it's like that wasn't like solely by the writers.

[00:58:49] [SPEAKER_16]: Like the actress, I understandably wanted to move on where she was

[00:58:53] [SPEAKER_16]: more central character to get paid more to it just.

[00:58:56] [SPEAKER_15]: And then I know here the walking dead is such an artistic accomplishment.

[00:59:00] [SPEAKER_15]: I mean, how could you not want to do that show?

[00:59:02] [SPEAKER_16]: 100% character.

[00:59:05] [SPEAKER_16]: I know.

[00:59:06] [SPEAKER_16]: I know.

[00:59:07] [SPEAKER_16]: I think that's a lot.

[00:59:09] [SPEAKER_16]: I know my backlash against fear was like this is what you took her away from the 100 to do.

[00:59:14] [SPEAKER_15]: No, I know.

[00:59:14] [SPEAKER_15]: Seriously.

[00:59:15] [SPEAKER_16]: But come on.

[00:59:16] [SPEAKER_16]: Oh, but yeah.

[00:59:17] [SPEAKER_15]: So yeah, she had every reason to believe it was going to be a hit because at the time.

[00:59:21] [SPEAKER_15]: Oh, yeah.

[00:59:22] [SPEAKER_03]: Walking Dead was machine.

[00:59:25] [SPEAKER_16]: Yeah, and the first season I thought was fantastic.

[00:59:28] [SPEAKER_16]: So like they did.

[00:59:30] [SPEAKER_16]: But yeah, I didn't realize Larry like watching it live.

[00:59:33] [SPEAKER_16]: Like I didn't realize Larry was dead until season four.

[00:59:36] [SPEAKER_16]: And like I was 14.

[00:59:38] [SPEAKER_15]: He gets his own life in next year.

[00:59:40] [SPEAKER_15]: But it's not super obvious.

[00:59:41] [SPEAKER_15]: They just show his body hit the ground.

[00:59:43] [SPEAKER_15]: He could be unconscious, but I'm pretty sure.

[00:59:47] [SPEAKER_16]: Yeah, he definitely died this episode.

[00:59:49] [SPEAKER_16]: I think that was also part of it.

[00:59:50] [SPEAKER_16]: Wasn't any sort of like.

[00:59:53] [SPEAKER_16]: Like like naming that he died like, oh, Larry.

[00:59:57] [SPEAKER_15]: At the time, an out gay character on TV was a super big deal and there weren't very many of them.

[01:00:03] [SPEAKER_15]: So when one got killed off, it was like, hey, you just gave us that.

[01:00:08] [SPEAKER_15]: Like, come on.

[01:00:09] [SPEAKER_16]: And a lot of us liked his character from what I understand.

[01:00:12] [SPEAKER_16]: Like I liked his character.

[01:00:13] [SPEAKER_16]: I thought, you know, because I didn't like him at first.

[01:00:17] [SPEAKER_16]: But then, you know, we had after that episode,

[01:00:19] [SPEAKER_16]: we had the episode in the alternate universe where he was a hero.

[01:00:23] [SPEAKER_16]: And then we have him helping the heroes in this universe.

[01:00:26] [SPEAKER_16]: And then you kill them off, but there's no fanfare.

[01:00:28] [SPEAKER_16]: There's no funeral.

[01:00:29] [SPEAKER_16]: There's no mention of it.

[01:00:31] [SPEAKER_15]: I've seen an interview with JW where he defends it as saying that they had to kill someone

[01:00:38] [SPEAKER_15]: and they wanted it to be someone people liked so that it had some impact.

[01:00:43] [SPEAKER_15]: And they went through the sort of array of characters, side characters,

[01:00:50] [SPEAKER_15]: you know, of the high school students.

[01:00:52] [SPEAKER_15]: And they were like, is it going to be Jonathan?

[01:00:56] [SPEAKER_15]: That would be so cruel.

[01:01:01] [SPEAKER_15]: And they probably should have killed Percy.

[01:01:06] [SPEAKER_15]: I think that would have been a better choice.

[01:01:07] [SPEAKER_16]: Yes, that that would have been honestly, I thought Percy was dead.

[01:01:11] [SPEAKER_16]: He just said that.

[01:01:12] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, he kind of redeemed at that point.

[01:01:14] [SPEAKER_03]: Like he'd kind of stepped up and had a couple of moments.

[01:01:18] [SPEAKER_03]: That would have been fine.

[01:01:19] [SPEAKER_03]: I would like other people in Oz's band or something.

[01:01:22] [SPEAKER_15]: Oh, yeah, they could have killed what's his name?

[01:01:24] [SPEAKER_15]: Devin.

[01:01:25] [SPEAKER_15]: Devin.

[01:01:25] [SPEAKER_16]: Yeah, that would have been at least it would have been named.

[01:01:29] [SPEAKER_16]: But yeah, it was I thought they killed a lot of characters.

[01:01:33] [SPEAKER_16]: So it's like, you know, yes, they were side characters.

[01:01:36] [SPEAKER_16]: But yeah, you're only on season three.

[01:01:37] [SPEAKER_16]: You need everyone else.

[01:01:38] [SPEAKER_16]: And that's the thing.

[01:01:39] [SPEAKER_16]: The cast is not that large.

[01:01:41] [SPEAKER_16]: And it gets even smaller, but for different reasons.

[01:01:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Like if you get a name, you're going to be some sort of villain or you're going to die.

[01:01:50] [SPEAKER_16]: Yeah, it's like, you know, J.W. I think is doing the J.K.

[01:01:53] [SPEAKER_16]: rolling effect of like going backwards and rewriting your history.

[01:01:57] [SPEAKER_16]: Dumbledore's gay!

[01:01:58] [SPEAKER_16]: Yeah, it's like, since when?

[01:02:01] [SPEAKER_16]: I mean, that's great.

[01:02:02] [SPEAKER_16]: But like since when?

[01:02:04] [SPEAKER_16]: And so it's like, yeah, if you were going to do like there's so many other

[01:02:07] [SPEAKER_16]: things you could have done if you were.

[01:02:12] [SPEAKER_15]: It's the decision they made.

[01:02:15] [SPEAKER_15]: They do make up for it a lot in season four.

[01:02:19] [SPEAKER_16]: Yes, yeah, that's true.

[01:02:21] [SPEAKER_16]: That come into play and then make it terrible later on.

[01:02:25] [SPEAKER_16]: But oh my gosh, I will never forget.

[01:02:32] [SPEAKER_16]: I will never forgive.

[01:02:34] [SPEAKER_16]: But like everyone's like everyone who hasn't seen the series has no idea what I'm talking about.

[01:02:40] [SPEAKER_16]: I feel like so I didn't realize how awful the Wesley and Cordelia kiss was.

[01:02:47] [SPEAKER_15]: Oh my God, it's so funny.

[01:02:49] [SPEAKER_15]: I love it so much.

[01:02:50] [SPEAKER_16]: So cringy.

[01:02:51] [SPEAKER_16]: It's so funny.

[01:02:52] [SPEAKER_02]: So straight acting.

[01:02:53] [SPEAKER_15]: First of all, his little speech to her where he's like,

[01:02:56] [SPEAKER_15]: if there was some hope that I might be needed.

[01:03:00] [SPEAKER_15]: And she's like, needed?

[01:03:03] [SPEAKER_14]: Wanted.

[01:03:04] [SPEAKER_14]: Wanted?

[01:03:06] [SPEAKER_15]: I don't think when I saw this the first time that I at all expected that to be a flop.

[01:03:11] [SPEAKER_15]: I think that was a complete surprise.

[01:03:15] [SPEAKER_15]: And it's so funny every time I watch the episode.

[01:03:19] [SPEAKER_15]: I love it more.

[01:03:20] [SPEAKER_15]: It's so funny.

[01:03:21] [SPEAKER_15]: And then when he's like, all right, she's like, that'd be neat.

[01:03:26] [SPEAKER_15]: It all.

[01:03:28] [SPEAKER_16]: They built up so much.

[01:03:31] [SPEAKER_03]: And it was just terrible.

[01:03:33] [SPEAKER_03]: Well, and how many of us have been there where like there's something you're kind of like

[01:03:37] [SPEAKER_03]: flirting with or like there's back and forth and you think there could be chemistry.

[01:03:40] [SPEAKER_03]: And then once you actually like act on it, you're just like, oh, never mind.

[01:03:45] [SPEAKER_03]: It's so bad.

[01:03:45] [SPEAKER_03]: Like no, they're not.

[01:03:47] [SPEAKER_14]: It's so bad.

[01:03:48] [SPEAKER_16]: And just like his like the acting is great.

[01:03:51] [SPEAKER_16]: Like his like mannerisms are like.

[01:03:54] [SPEAKER_16]: Yeah.

[01:03:57] [SPEAKER_15]: He's so prissy and like.

[01:04:00] [SPEAKER_15]: Oh God.

[01:04:01] [SPEAKER_16]: Just like it makes me cringe every time, which you know means it's amazing.

[01:04:06] [SPEAKER_16]: But like it's just they evoked what they needed to.

[01:04:10] [SPEAKER_16]: But I oh my gosh, that was fantastic.

[01:04:13] [SPEAKER_16]: I wonder how many times they had to film that.

[01:04:15] [SPEAKER_16]: And just like no more awkward.

[01:04:18] [SPEAKER_15]: They must have been laughing so hard.

[01:04:21] [SPEAKER_16]: Oh, I can imagine.

[01:04:23] [SPEAKER_15]: And I like that it puts to rest that whole storyline of Wesley liking a teenage girl.

[01:04:31] [SPEAKER_15]: Like, like, yes, it's so gross and like inappropriate.

[01:04:36] [SPEAKER_15]: And it's thank God it's over.

[01:04:38] [SPEAKER_15]: Like it's definitively over.

[01:04:41] [SPEAKER_15]: There's no lingering question at the end of the season that

[01:04:44] [SPEAKER_15]: Courtney and Wesley are going to like get together over the summer or something.

[01:04:47] [SPEAKER_15]: It's like, nope, nope, nope.

[01:04:50] [SPEAKER_16]: I have been that 16, 17, 18 year old girl lusting after an older guy.

[01:04:58] [SPEAKER_16]: And thank God the guys never responded because they're like no child.

[01:05:04] [SPEAKER_16]: Like, you know, you're allowed to like do what like think whatever

[01:05:07] [SPEAKER_16]: because your brain's still developing, but they absolutely not never.

[01:05:11] [SPEAKER_16]: And so it's like, thank God.

[01:05:12] [SPEAKER_16]: And then the show is like, what if the guy gave in?

[01:05:15] [SPEAKER_16]: It's like, ew.

[01:05:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, no, that's how this works.

[01:05:20] [SPEAKER_15]: Yeah.

[01:05:22] [SPEAKER_15]: It's funny because, well, stuff that happens over on Angel just like sort of is hilarious.

[01:05:31] [SPEAKER_15]: Also gets ruined.

[01:05:34] [SPEAKER_15]: Anyway, back to the pre-battle.

[01:05:39] [SPEAKER_15]: A scene that I find incredibly moving is actually quite short.

[01:05:45] [SPEAKER_15]: And it's Angel and Buffy's sort of pre-goodbye.

[01:05:49] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[01:05:50] [SPEAKER_06]: So are we sure that everyone's good with their visions?

[01:05:51] [SPEAKER_08]: We're not going to say goodbye.

[01:06:03] [SPEAKER_08]: When we get through this, I'm just going to go.

[01:06:09] You understand?

[01:06:19] [SPEAKER_08]: There's just too much to it.

[01:06:44] [SPEAKER_15]: It's such clever writing.

[01:06:51] [SPEAKER_15]: Because if they had had a big goodbye scene, it never ever could have lived up to

[01:06:57] [SPEAKER_15]: exactly all of their history and all the drama and all the intensity and the emotions.

[01:07:02] [SPEAKER_15]: They kind of had their goodbye sex scene with the feeding scene.

[01:07:07] [SPEAKER_15]: And when he was sick, he was like, how could I have ever thought I could leave you?

[01:07:10] [SPEAKER_15]: And then he's got to be thinking to himself, I'm so glad I said that to Willow and not Buffy

[01:07:14] [SPEAKER_15]: because I'd have to take it back seriously.

[01:07:17] [SPEAKER_15]: It also occurred to me that this is my first encounter with the Irish goodbye.

[01:07:25] [SPEAKER_16]: I was just thinking, I was like, oh, the Irish avoidance.

[01:07:29] [SPEAKER_15]: There's this thing called the Irish goodbye.

[01:07:31] [SPEAKER_15]: I don't know how widespread this myth is, but it's when you are at a party or something

[01:07:36] [SPEAKER_15]: and you just bail and you don't have goodbyes.

[01:07:39] [SPEAKER_03]: I love Irish goodbyes.

[01:07:40] [SPEAKER_15]: I am the queen of the Irish goodbye.

[01:07:42] [SPEAKER_15]: I do it all the time.

[01:07:44] [SPEAKER_15]: I hate going around a party and saying goodbye to people for 25 minutes.

[01:07:48] [SPEAKER_15]: I'm like, no, man.

[01:07:49] [SPEAKER_15]: When I'm done, I'm done.

[01:07:51] [SPEAKER_03]: Or I'll awkwardly just shout loudly bye to everyone.

[01:07:57] [SPEAKER_15]: Or I'll try to find the host.

[01:07:58] [SPEAKER_15]: It's either or.

[01:07:59] [SPEAKER_15]: It's like I'll say goodbye to one person.

[01:08:01] [SPEAKER_03]: You can at least say bye to the person hosting the party.

[01:08:03] [SPEAKER_15]: Yeah, and then I'm out.

[01:08:05] [SPEAKER_16]: And I'm the typical psychologist.

[01:08:08] [SPEAKER_16]: Goodbye, I want to give each of you a goodbye.

[01:08:13] [SPEAKER_03]: The neurodivergent introvert.

[01:08:15] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes.

[01:08:16] [SPEAKER_03]: Is just like, bye.

[01:08:20] [SPEAKER_15]: I was like, oh my God, Angel.

[01:08:23] [SPEAKER_15]: Angel did it.

[01:08:24] [SPEAKER_15]: It's an Irish goodbye.

[01:08:24] [SPEAKER_15]: He's Irish.

[01:08:25] [SPEAKER_15]: Oh my God.

[01:08:25] [SPEAKER_15]: I was cracking up.

[01:08:28] [SPEAKER_03]: I know.

[01:08:29] [SPEAKER_03]: The fact that he said those things to Willow because if he had said,

[01:08:35] [SPEAKER_03]: I thought I'd never see you again.

[01:08:37] [SPEAKER_03]: I can't leave you.

[01:08:38] [SPEAKER_03]: I need you to Buffy.

[01:08:40] [SPEAKER_03]: And then left.

[01:08:42] [SPEAKER_03]: It would have been so cool.

[01:08:44] [SPEAKER_03]: It would have been cruel.

[01:08:44] [SPEAKER_03]: It just made it so much worse.

[01:08:47] [SPEAKER_03]: So at least it's played like we see how he really feels and we know that this is a

[01:08:53] [SPEAKER_03]: difficult decision for him.

[01:08:55] [SPEAKER_03]: The audience gets to know, okay, like this is he loves her cares about it's painful,

[01:09:02] [SPEAKER_03]: but it's played up a little comically and Willow gets to hear it.

[01:09:06] [SPEAKER_03]: And I'm also assuming that Willow doesn't share that information with.

[01:09:12] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't think it would be necessary.

[01:09:14] [SPEAKER_03]: He doesn't need to hear it.

[01:09:16] [SPEAKER_03]: It's painful enough already.

[01:09:20] [SPEAKER_15]: If he had indeed stuck around, then there would have been a reason for Willow to say,

[01:09:25] [SPEAKER_15]: when he was delirious, he said this, but he leaves.

[01:09:28] [SPEAKER_15]: So why hurt Buffy?

[01:09:31] [SPEAKER_16]: And also, I mean, I don't know it's because they had already foreshadowed the Angel show

[01:09:38] [SPEAKER_16]: after the graduation part one episode.

[01:09:42] [SPEAKER_16]: I think it was always known that this wasn't their final goodbye.

[01:09:46] [SPEAKER_16]: He has his own spin off.

[01:09:47] [SPEAKER_16]: It was on the same network for a bit.

[01:09:49] [SPEAKER_16]: So it's like, I mean, I guess it's spoilers, but like,

[01:09:55] [SPEAKER_16]: some overlapping crossover people, they exist in the same universe.

[01:10:00] [SPEAKER_15]: Inevitably.

[01:10:01] [SPEAKER_15]: And I think also at the time there was some chatter on like, you know,

[01:10:06] [SPEAKER_15]: entertainment weekly or whatever like, yeah,

[01:10:08] [SPEAKER_15]: and if the Angel show doesn't take off, he can always come back.

[01:10:11] [SPEAKER_16]: Yeah, like I think even watching it, I knew that there was going to this wasn't

[01:10:15] [SPEAKER_16]: their final goodbye because there were so many shows have had crossovers like before then.

[01:10:22] [SPEAKER_16]: I think of like ER for some reason, but like,

[01:10:25] [SPEAKER_16]: there was like a ton of shows that like even back then would have crossovers

[01:10:29] [SPEAKER_16]: and it was very well known the fantasy genre.

[01:10:32] [SPEAKER_16]: So I was like, yeah, okay.

[01:10:34] [SPEAKER_16]: I think it was the ending of their chapter as we knew it.

[01:10:38] [SPEAKER_16]: And it made sense to not drag that out considering they broke up episodes ago.

[01:10:43] [SPEAKER_16]: I guess two episodes ago, but like, yeah, they've already had the conversation.

[01:10:48] [SPEAKER_15]: Yeah, yeah.

[01:10:49] [SPEAKER_15]: And it set up that amazing shot of Angel in the like smoke and

[01:10:56] [SPEAKER_15]: or whatever with all the fire trucks and everything around.

[01:11:00] [SPEAKER_03]: 90s feeling.

[01:11:02] [SPEAKER_03]: I have any respect like a music video.

[01:11:05] [SPEAKER_15]: Yeah, and then he turns and starts to walk away and I'm like,

[01:11:08] [SPEAKER_15]: that is a long blazer he's wearing.

[01:11:14] [SPEAKER_16]: His trench coat just is billowing in the breeze and honestly,

[01:11:19] [SPEAKER_16]: we've known up until now Angel is not always the best with the words

[01:11:22] [SPEAKER_16]: when it comes to his feelings.

[01:11:24] [SPEAKER_15]: His actions speak, right?

[01:11:27] [SPEAKER_15]: He made much better than his words because he saw her.

[01:11:30] [SPEAKER_15]: She saw him and then he just turns and walks away and it's honestly,

[01:11:35] [SPEAKER_15]: I hardly ever use this word, but it's like classy.

[01:11:38] [SPEAKER_15]: It's like, yeah, don't make a scene.

[01:11:42] [SPEAKER_15]: We've already said everything we're going to say.

[01:11:44] [SPEAKER_15]: You know how I feel.

[01:11:45] [SPEAKER_15]: I know how you feel.

[01:11:47] [SPEAKER_15]: We did this thing.

[01:11:49] [SPEAKER_15]: We finished what we needed to do and like there's no need to like make it worse.

[01:11:54] [SPEAKER_16]: Just iconic.

[01:11:56] [SPEAKER_16]: Would have made it so much worse too.

[01:11:57] [SPEAKER_16]: But I love to see you leave.

[01:12:00] [SPEAKER_15]: With his perfectly tailored jacket.

[01:12:03] [SPEAKER_15]: I don't know where Angel gets his clothes, but he has like these really broad shoulders

[01:12:10] [SPEAKER_15]: and it is like crisp seam on the shoulders.

[01:12:12] [SPEAKER_15]: Unlike that jacket was tailored by a professional and it's funny because there are various times

[01:12:21] [SPEAKER_15]: in the series where somebody makes a comment about Angel's sort of style or his clothes

[01:12:28] [SPEAKER_15]: and like he's a little bit vain and it's hilarious to me that he doesn't have

[01:12:35] [SPEAKER_15]: the ability to see himself in a mirror.

[01:12:38] [SPEAKER_03]: How does he get his hair to like stick up so perfectly?

[01:12:41] [SPEAKER_03]: I know.

[01:12:42] [SPEAKER_03]: I guess.

[01:12:43] [SPEAKER_16]: But yeah, he's like, I guess.

[01:12:47] [SPEAKER_16]: Now for Spike, I figure he's probably grabbing someone and being like, how does it look?

[01:12:52] [SPEAKER_16]: Good?

[01:12:52] [SPEAKER_16]: Yeah.

[01:12:52] [SPEAKER_16]: This way that way more moody.

[01:12:55] [SPEAKER_16]: I get a feeling Spike is more seeking reassurance.

[01:12:58] [SPEAKER_16]: Angel's like good enough.

[01:13:00] [SPEAKER_15]: I think Spike goes to like a high end salon and gets his hair done

[01:13:04] [SPEAKER_15]: and then eats the salon workers.

[01:13:11] [SPEAKER_03]: I know he's like, this can never be known.

[01:13:14] [SPEAKER_03]: But if they can't see, if you can't see a vampire's reflection,

[01:13:19] [SPEAKER_03]: how did they go to a hair salon?

[01:13:21] [SPEAKER_03]: Like a normal hair salon?

[01:13:22] [SPEAKER_15]: Because there's mirrors everywhere, right?

[01:13:24] [SPEAKER_15]: Right.

[01:13:24] [SPEAKER_03]: Well, that's why he has that specifically is like a vampire hair stylist or barber.

[01:13:30] [SPEAKER_15]: I bet he turned someone, you know, he found a good hairstylist and turns her into

[01:13:36] [SPEAKER_15]: a vampire and like all the vampires go to that hair stylist.

[01:13:41] [SPEAKER_16]: I'm thinking it's like America's Next Top Model where they cover the mirrors.

[01:13:47] [SPEAKER_16]: I'll show you at the end.

[01:13:50] [SPEAKER_14]: Don't you worry.

[01:13:53] [SPEAKER_03]: Or maybe like he doesn't ever have to shave.

[01:13:57] [SPEAKER_03]: Like if you're dead and your body is not functioning anymore,

[01:14:00] [SPEAKER_03]: like does their hair just not grow?

[01:14:02] [SPEAKER_03]: I've always wondered this because-

[01:14:06] [SPEAKER_15]: They address this in, Anne Rice addresses this in one of her books because there's a vampire

[01:14:11] [SPEAKER_15]: who cuts her hair short and the next day it's back and it really upsets her,

[01:14:17] [SPEAKER_15]: which I think is dumb.

[01:14:17] [SPEAKER_15]: I'm like then just cut it again.

[01:14:19] [SPEAKER_15]: Like that's so easy.

[01:14:20] [SPEAKER_16]: Yeah, but their hair does grow because we see them in flashbacks with longer hair

[01:14:25] [SPEAKER_16]: and in Anne Rice it grows back real fast, like immediately.

[01:14:30] [SPEAKER_03]: If they're dead and there's jokes about him not having to breathe.

[01:14:36] [SPEAKER_03]: Except he does breathe.

[01:14:38] [SPEAKER_03]: They do breathe.

[01:14:40] [SPEAKER_03]: But is that like quote unquote muscle memory?

[01:14:43] [SPEAKER_15]: They have to use oxygen just to speak, right?

[01:14:48] [SPEAKER_15]: That's how vocal cords work.

[01:14:51] [SPEAKER_15]: I think it's more that they don't need the air but their body just keeps breathing.

[01:14:58] [SPEAKER_15]: There are times when Spike will pretend to be out of breath and I'm like,

[01:15:02] [SPEAKER_15]: you're a vampire.

[01:15:03] [SPEAKER_15]: I know!

[01:15:07] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[01:15:08] [SPEAKER_03]: You die in the condition that you're in.

[01:15:11] [SPEAKER_03]: Spike has like smoker's lung or something.

[01:15:15] [SPEAKER_03]: His smoker's lung!

[01:15:18] [SPEAKER_03]: Even though I don't think William the Bloody smoked much.

[01:15:22] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm pretty sure he didn't.

[01:15:24] [SPEAKER_16]: I don't think he was really left to hang out with the smoker.

[01:15:27] [SPEAKER_16]: Yeah.

[01:15:27] [SPEAKER_15]: No, he just had more like low self-esteem.

[01:15:31] [SPEAKER_15]: I think he might have been a snuff user.

[01:15:36] [SPEAKER_15]: 18th century or 19th century.

[01:15:38] [SPEAKER_03]: Well, or just in general the air pollution from living in London during anyway.

[01:15:47] [SPEAKER_16]: I want to know if they pee!

[01:15:49] [SPEAKER_16]: I'm pretty sure they don't poop because they don't eat solid food.

[01:15:52] [SPEAKER_16]: Well they do but they pee?

[01:15:55] [SPEAKER_16]: Yeah, so I'm like do they just pee out the excess blood?

[01:15:59] [SPEAKER_03]: There's got to be some form of digestion.

[01:16:03] [SPEAKER_16]: Yeah well like when Spike...

[01:16:05] [SPEAKER_03]: Because their endocrine system work.

[01:16:09] [SPEAKER_03]: We know Spike likes human food.

[01:16:12] [SPEAKER_03]: Which is weird because other vampires and other vampire lore can't eat human food.

[01:16:18] [SPEAKER_03]: Like it tastes bad.

[01:16:21] [SPEAKER_14]: But he likes it.

[01:16:23] [SPEAKER_16]: Of course he does.

[01:16:24] [SPEAKER_16]: And so I'm like do you poop out the bloomin' onion?

[01:16:27] [SPEAKER_16]: Does that get absorbed?

[01:16:28] [SPEAKER_16]: I have so many questions.

[01:16:29] [SPEAKER_16]: I also want to know why they don't cry blood.

[01:16:32] [SPEAKER_16]: Yeah, right.

[01:16:33] [SPEAKER_16]: Why aren't their tears bloody?

[01:16:35] [SPEAKER_03]: This is like that time we're like why is Angel sweating?

[01:16:41] [SPEAKER_03]: And why isn't it blood?

[01:16:42] [SPEAKER_14]: Yeah.

[01:16:50] [SPEAKER_16]: It was too much added color for Angel.

[01:16:54] [SPEAKER_16]: He was like oh no it's not black.

[01:16:58] [SPEAKER_16]: It has personality fluid.

[01:17:03] [SPEAKER_03]: Some magic.

[01:17:07] [SPEAKER_16]: It's too bright.

[01:17:09] [SPEAKER_16]: Can't have it.

[01:17:10] [SPEAKER_16]: Angel in pink.

[01:17:12] [SPEAKER_03]: Not so much.

[01:17:13] [SPEAKER_16]: Oh my god I would like pay money to see that.

[01:17:16] [SPEAKER_16]: So one of the things I was wondering is...

[01:17:19] [SPEAKER_16]: So the mayor said he'd been working on his speech for a hundred years.

[01:17:25] [SPEAKER_16]: And he says in his speech Sunnydale was founded a hundred years ago.

[01:17:30] [SPEAKER_16]: So did he found...

[01:17:31] [SPEAKER_16]: Was he one of the founders of Sunnydale over the Hellmouth to prep for the ascension?

[01:17:37] [SPEAKER_16]: And he would be in that process.

[01:17:38] [SPEAKER_16]: This is a hundred year plan.

[01:17:39] [SPEAKER_03]: That's what I assumed in the making.

[01:17:41] [SPEAKER_03]: Wow.

[01:17:42] [SPEAKER_03]: Because we see those images, those pictures of him.

[01:17:45] [SPEAKER_15]: Faith says mayor built this town for demons to feed on and on graduation day he's getting paid.

[01:17:53] [SPEAKER_15]: So it's a hundred year old plan.

[01:17:57] [SPEAKER_15]: He's been waiting for the day to put it into effect to become...

[01:18:01] [SPEAKER_03]: That's why he kept his shit together in the hospital.

[01:18:06] Yeah.

[01:18:07] [SPEAKER_03]: Because he's like I'm so close.

[01:18:10] [SPEAKER_16]: Yeah I need my McDonald's happy meals right here.

[01:18:15] [SPEAKER_15]: All these people.

[01:18:17] [SPEAKER_16]: And also did he have to eat children?

[01:18:20] [SPEAKER_16]: I mean was that a part of it or like because he was eating all the high school students.

[01:18:26] [SPEAKER_03]: Maybe the more youthful and healthy you are the more strength that gives you.

[01:18:30] [SPEAKER_15]: I think it was just the convenience of them all being in one place.

[01:18:34] [SPEAKER_15]: Because he was definitely planning on also eating their parents.

[01:18:38] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[01:18:39] [SPEAKER_15]: And the first one he ate was Snyder.

[01:18:43] [SPEAKER_15]: That was so fantastic.

[01:18:44] [SPEAKER_16]: Which was amazing.

[01:18:46] [SPEAKER_16]: Which was amazing.

[01:18:47] [SPEAKER_16]: I'm like Snyder what did you think he would do?

[01:18:50] [SPEAKER_03]: I loved when he goes this is simply unacceptable and he's just so indignant.

[01:19:00] [SPEAKER_15]: Why aren't you afraid?

[01:19:03] [SPEAKER_15]: Why aren't you afraid of a giant snake?

[01:19:05] [SPEAKER_15]: And he's like and I mean quiet Mr. and when I say quiet I mean gobble.

[01:19:11] [SPEAKER_16]: But I mean it was like what did he think?

[01:19:15] [SPEAKER_16]: Being a dick until this.

[01:19:16] [SPEAKER_16]: Stuff and like demon stuff and it's like how were you shocked?

[01:19:21] [SPEAKER_03]: He probably thought it was like small potatoes not that he was going to turn into...

[01:19:24] [SPEAKER_16]: He knew he was going to kill the kids.

[01:19:26] [SPEAKER_16]: So I'm like are you mad that he's a giant snake?

[01:19:29] [SPEAKER_16]: What is happening?

[01:19:30] [SPEAKER_16]: I mean I could see him being thrilled.

[01:19:32] [SPEAKER_15]: He was like noisy and messy right?

[01:19:34] [SPEAKER_15]: I think he didn't care about demonic he just wanted everything to be orderly.

[01:19:39] [SPEAKER_16]: Mass murder quietly mayor.

[01:19:50] [SPEAKER_03]: I never get tired of seeing them all like throw their robes back and having giant crosses

[01:19:59] [SPEAKER_03]: and weapons and like lighting flaming arrows.

[01:20:04] [SPEAKER_03]: It's just such a good fun moment.

[01:20:09] [SPEAKER_15]: Yeah and then when the vampires are like let's get the kids and then they turn and it's like

[01:20:14] [SPEAKER_15]: everyone's running at them and they're like oh no that makes me so happy.

[01:20:19] [SPEAKER_16]: Which is like another reason why this makes no sense to anyone with a brain to delay this.

[01:20:25] [SPEAKER_16]: These were the students in unity coming together to defend the innocent.

[01:20:32] [SPEAKER_16]: Like it was the most unified that Sunnydale High ever was and it was a beautiful moment

[01:20:39] [SPEAKER_16]: that didn't have guns and it was amazing to see them fight monsters that were trying to kill

[01:20:45] [SPEAKER_16]: them.

[01:20:47] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah well and I thought of too like look what life imitates art, art imitates life,

[01:20:52] [SPEAKER_03]: there is always going to be something that you're either intentionally or unintentionally

[01:20:59] [SPEAKER_03]: evoking.

[01:21:00] [SPEAKER_03]: I thought of the Oklahoma City bombing when I saw Larry and Willow and Oz and them

[01:21:04] [SPEAKER_03]: loading fertilizer.

[01:21:07] [SPEAKER_03]: You can't police everything necessarily in that way and it's the overall message and

[01:21:13] [SPEAKER_03]: I feel like that happens a lot we get bogged down in details and lose the plot

[01:21:18] [SPEAKER_03]: where they are unifying and working together and literally defeating evil but we're like

[01:21:26] [SPEAKER_03]: no no too violent.

[01:21:28] [SPEAKER_15]: It's violence at a high school we don't look any further than that.

[01:21:31] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah like they blow the damn school up clearly they're not encouraging.

[01:21:37] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean how many of us?

[01:21:40] [SPEAKER_15]: They make it pretty clear that it's only because of the giant snake this is not

[01:21:46] [SPEAKER_15]: a plot.

[01:21:47] [SPEAKER_15]: I love that which leads them through the whole school and I'm like oh god that's so good

[01:21:53] [SPEAKER_15]: he's so trapped because he's a snake ha ha ha like I know and then oh my gosh when

[01:21:59] [SPEAKER_16]: he sees the the fertilizer he goes well gosh yeah I had a plus and I was laughing

[01:22:05] [SPEAKER_16]: so hard.

[01:22:06] [SPEAKER_05]: It was just.

[01:22:12] [SPEAKER_05]: You remember this?

[01:22:15] [SPEAKER_05]: I took it from Faith stuck it in her gut

[01:22:20] [SPEAKER_05]: just slid in her like she was butter you want to get it back from me dick

[01:22:43] [SPEAKER_14]: well gosh.

[01:22:49] [SPEAKER_03]: It's so the perfect last words for that character like kind of campy fun that I love about

[01:22:57] [SPEAKER_15]: a funcular like dad joke kind of guy and oh god.

[01:23:04] [SPEAKER_16]: Doofy as shit.

[01:23:05] [SPEAKER_16]: It's like I love this fresh a mass murdering monster who's been planning

[01:23:10] [SPEAKER_16]: this for a century outwitted by by a teenager and a bunch of teenagers oh gosh golly.

[01:23:17] [SPEAKER_03]: I do like the eclipse aspect of it too yeah whatever that one it makes it feel much more

[01:23:24] [SPEAKER_03]: traumatic in general that it's darkness but it just seems so appropriate like then

[01:23:30] [SPEAKER_16]: then the vampires can come out he would want his back his backups you know to come

[01:23:34] [SPEAKER_16]: in and that way we can see angel kicking butt which was amazing and it's like hey

[01:23:39] [SPEAKER_16]: heads up on his spinoff he's fantastic at this and Korty gets her first kill

[01:23:46] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah while Wesley's on the ground yeah I love her and Jonathan to get apparently it was um

[01:23:55] [SPEAKER_15]: Alexis Dennis offside idea to have Wesley get knocked out without even doing anything

[01:24:01] [SPEAKER_15]: he was like why would not be able to succeed at all like Wesley should get knocked out

[01:24:07] [SPEAKER_15]: right away and and the you know the producers were all like you got it all right man that's

[01:24:11] [SPEAKER_15]: really cool because he was like not he was not under any misconceptions about his character

[01:24:18] [SPEAKER_16]: right yeah Wesley was a giant dude yeah and I love that he knew his character and he's such

[01:24:24] [SPEAKER_15]: a good actor he's so good whenever I see him doing something else where he's not British

[01:24:29] [SPEAKER_15]: I'm always like oh that's right he's an American person like it shakes me every time

[01:24:34] [SPEAKER_16]: it's like when all those um um actors on The Walking Dead are British oh you turn out

[01:24:39] [SPEAKER_15]: British yeah yeah I was like wait what what's happening right now yeah it's so weird to hear

[01:24:47] [SPEAKER_15]: Andy Lincoln in his normal voice it's like oh my gosh I know he sounds like Harry Potter

[01:24:54] [SPEAKER_15]: I like it he's so airy right yeah yeah he sounds like Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts

[01:25:00] [SPEAKER_15]: right he's and then he plays this like dirty like scruffy scruffy raspy voice and I'm like

[01:25:07] [SPEAKER_16]: where did you get this sir yeah but yeah no I just thought that whole scene was just one of

[01:25:13] [SPEAKER_16]: the most epic finales of any show I've ever seen just it's so fun to watch it never gets

[01:25:18] [SPEAKER_15]: old to me I always love it when when Buffy's like now and and you know Xander's like flame

[01:25:26] [SPEAKER_15]: units and then yeah it's so exciting and then he's like hand to hand and everybody pulls

[01:25:30] [SPEAKER_15]: out their stakes and like oh it's just a great scene oh I watched it when I well when I was

[01:25:38] [SPEAKER_03]: preparing for the first time we thought we were gonna be recording I I watched the episode on my

[01:25:46] [SPEAKER_03]: lunch break at work and I was sitting in my office like having a hard time not like shouting

[01:25:53] [SPEAKER_03]: out loud and talking back to my you know tv because I was just like oh this is so good

[01:26:00] [SPEAKER_03]: and I knew there was a client meeting happening like 10 feet away I was like I cannot be yelling

[01:26:05] [SPEAKER_03]: about vampires and demons yeah but like it gets you all amped up it was way more interesting

[01:26:15] [SPEAKER_03]: than my high school graduation yeah well yeah seriously um well we've talked about how mine

[01:26:22] [SPEAKER_15]: my ass burned yeah so after the you know the big explosion we get one of one of the most iconic

[01:26:34] [SPEAKER_15]: Buffy Giles conversations ever where he tells her you know what a good job she's done and

[01:26:41] [SPEAKER_15]: she's like oh I'm not really um operating on the higher levels there's a certain um

[01:26:49] [SPEAKER_07]: dramatic irony is attached to all this

[01:26:53] [SPEAKER_07]: synchronicity that borders on on your destination

[01:26:57] [SPEAKER_05]: fire bad tree pretty yes sorry go to tend to whizzle

[01:27:07] [SPEAKER_15]: tree pretty it is so cute though that he saves her high school diploma and gives it to her

[01:27:16] [SPEAKER_15]: and he's like I'd say you've earned this and it it's just so sweet I you know I love that

[01:27:23] [SPEAKER_03]: there are some really great like funny lines in this episode like and Giles gets a good

[01:27:31] [SPEAKER_03]: like that exchange between him and Xander when he's just like here's your coffee and Xander

[01:27:37] [SPEAKER_03]: makes that joke like are you supposed to be oh wait wait I have it I have it yes

[01:27:42] [SPEAKER_10]: here's your coffee brewed from the finest columbia lighter fluid thank you

[01:27:51] [SPEAKER_10]: horrible aren't you supposed to be drinking tea anyway tea soothing I wish to be tense

[01:27:56] [SPEAKER_10]: okay but you're just trying a perfectly good cultural stereotype here

[01:28:03] [SPEAKER_16]: I have to use that I did laugh out loud when I saw that part tea is for relaxing I wish to

[01:28:09] [SPEAKER_15]: be tense and then Courtney walks in and she's like I demand an explanation

[01:28:14] [SPEAKER_15]: and then they're like for what and she goes Wesley and then Xander says inbreeding yes

[01:28:22] [SPEAKER_15]: that was the one time I was like Xander

[01:28:27] [SPEAKER_15]: it's just such he's when he has a good line like that it's so good I know Xander gets the

[01:28:34] [SPEAKER_16]: zingers I know delivers them excellent yeah he does a good job and I was like well done Xander

[01:28:41] [SPEAKER_16]: I thought Carrie you were gonna say the line in the end where where Giles goes to Xander good job

[01:28:47] [SPEAKER_02]: by the one and only time he has positive feedback literally I was like hold on to that

[01:28:55] [SPEAKER_02]: you're not getting it again

[01:28:59] [SPEAKER_03]: and Xander knew a very good job like you can tell that he had orchestrated and led people

[01:29:08] [SPEAKER_16]: yeah he legitimately did a good job never again just another feminist quality to the show

[01:29:18] [SPEAKER_16]: of only telling the men that they're doing a good job when they actually do a good job

[01:29:22] [SPEAKER_16]: just to keep their spirits high exactly yeah but that was very funny yeah and then I just you

[01:29:29] [SPEAKER_16]: know I like how it sets it up for the next season I thought they did such a great job

[01:29:39] [SPEAKER_16]: literally closing the book on this entire building and I thought it was just brilliant

[01:29:44] [SPEAKER_16]: that they burned down like they they exploded it the whole mouth school had to go we don't

[01:29:49] [SPEAKER_16]: need that anymore yeah did any of you guys burn your your books from from high school

[01:29:57] [SPEAKER_15]: afterwards we had this tradition that I now feel really bad about there was this defunct bridge

[01:30:04] [SPEAKER_15]: that was near our town they had built a new fancy bridge and just kept the old bridge there

[01:30:09] [SPEAKER_15]: as like a fishing pier or something and so we would take our books and notebooks and stuff and

[01:30:16] [SPEAKER_15]: throw them into the bay off this bridge and we called it the Amsco bridge because

[01:30:24] [SPEAKER_15]: Amsco was the name of that of the publisher of like all the language books and so this

[01:30:30] [SPEAKER_15]: was like the bridge where we went and through Amsco and now I look back on that and I'm like

[01:30:34] [SPEAKER_15]: we just fully littered like we're just yeah oh my god well uh we would set bonfires so I

[01:30:45] [SPEAKER_16]: burn our notebooks our books I mean they were textbooks but like that they were full of lies

[01:30:51] [SPEAKER_03]: anyway but like yeah we were just like burning them oh I honestly don't even remember I think

[01:31:02] [SPEAKER_15]: we had to give them back some textbooks we had to give back but some things were like work

[01:31:08] [SPEAKER_15]: books or like there was there was a combination so some went back but then the ones that we

[01:31:14] [SPEAKER_15]: we all did this thing where we threw them off the bridge I have a really bad memory

[01:31:19] [SPEAKER_03]: when it comes to high school I blocked a lot of stuff out did you guys ever do any senior pranks

[01:31:27] [SPEAKER_16]: oh yeah oh yeah oh yeah that was big the most disruptive one for us was when someone super

[01:31:39] [SPEAKER_15]: I

[01:31:40] [SPEAKER_16]: it was amazing we'd have school like they think they couldn't I'm pretty sure they had to

[01:31:47] [SPEAKER_15]: replace all the doorknobs we saved up all of our empty alcohol containers and filled all the

[01:31:56] [SPEAKER_02]: recycling bins with empty booze I love that we were a problem I did not have any involvement

[01:32:11] [SPEAKER_03]: in this other than listening to them come up with it and I remember

[01:32:16] [SPEAKER_03]: like this is a terrible idea but there is I know but there's a huge group of seniors that

[01:32:23] [SPEAKER_03]: you know we we would always have a tradition of pranking our rival high school so our school

[01:32:30] [SPEAKER_03]: colors were like forest green and white and somebody got now it now it is kind of horrible

[01:32:37] [SPEAKER_03]: a bunch of mice and painted them green and released them in the cafeteria at the rival

[01:32:47] [SPEAKER_03]: high school but they brought a horse into ours yeah like this is Texas things are different yeah

[01:32:56] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah it was insane and I remember being like can we just not bring animals into this like

[01:33:04] [SPEAKER_03]: can we just do something where we're not can you guys write in with your senior pranks

[01:33:11] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah it was not it's not great and we dyed their pool green but that was probably bad

[01:33:20] [SPEAKER_03]: that's a classic that's very Veronica Mars yeah we didn't have pre-fun fully developed pre-funnel

[01:33:27] [SPEAKER_16]: cortexes no I mean it wasn't a senior prank but for some reason for like all of my

[01:33:33] [SPEAKER_16]: and senior year when you rode the bus people would put that itching powder everywhere that's so mean

[01:33:40] [SPEAKER_16]: and I have no idea why I mean people got it in their eyes I mean it was like this huge thing

[01:33:48] [SPEAKER_16]: and it was like teenagers are idiots yeah I mean it's South Florida high school I mean yeah

[01:33:53] [SPEAKER_16]: like it was just like there's a bunch of stuff where I'm like South Florida high school

[01:33:58] [SPEAKER_16]: like getting off the bus and having all the parents be like we gotta run home because there's

[01:34:02] [SPEAKER_16]: alligator on the loose and it's like down like I mean I think the alligator had rabies if I could

[01:34:08] [SPEAKER_16]: get rabies because it was just like eating everything and if anyone's from a rabid alligator

[01:34:13] [SPEAKER_16]: that's so Florida is terrifying yeah because they normally never mess with people they

[01:34:20] [SPEAKER_16]: usually just stick in their lakes like you know the the rivers and the you know that they're

[01:34:25] [SPEAKER_16]: um but like this one was like out of the water like attacking everything and so they're like we

[01:34:32] [SPEAKER_16]: gotta run home because there's a rabid alligator on the loose so that's intentional tlc quote

[01:34:40] [SPEAKER_16]: yes okay just sure I was like that made me so happy yeah but like it was like yeah but

[01:34:48] [SPEAKER_16]: like there was out but then I think of like yeah we put itching powder on ourselves

[01:34:52] [SPEAKER_16]: on like I yeah that's a bad way of an awful rash that you'd have to go to the doctor's

[01:34:58] [SPEAKER_03]: for because it was so bad I think they were like I remember in elementary school like we

[01:35:02] [SPEAKER_03]: didn't have alligators this is going to make me sound horrible just to give you an idea of

[01:35:08] [SPEAKER_03]: what I grew up near there was this property that somebody owned nearby and they had a

[01:35:22] [SPEAKER_03]: because the peacocks had gotten out and they were on the roof of our school and all over

[01:35:27] [SPEAKER_03]: the playground and so we had I really do not know but I pretty problem

[01:35:35] [SPEAKER_03]: and I remember we were all like crowding around the window like trying to peek out

[01:35:41] [SPEAKER_03]: at the playground and watching people trying to wrangle these gigantic

[01:35:46] [SPEAKER_03]: I would have paid money for that I would have paid money for that it is a very vivid memory

[01:35:54] [SPEAKER_16]: in my head that is amazing it would be too in my brain but um yeah I just yeah oh yeah I

[01:36:03] [SPEAKER_15]: just learned that peacocks fly all right so buffy has quit the council she's defeated the

[01:36:10] [SPEAKER_15]: she doesn't want to wake up again until it's time to go to college so let's let her nap

[01:36:17] [SPEAKER_15]: and we will go over and look up some pop culture references

[01:36:27] [SPEAKER_16]: faith in buffy's dream oh yeah miles to go little miss muffet counting down from seven

[01:36:35] [SPEAKER_16]: oh miles to go is a reference to robert frost poem stopping by woods on a snowy evening

[01:36:43] [SPEAKER_16]: the same reference was used in the prom little miss muffet is a nursery rhyme little miss

[01:36:50] [SPEAKER_16]: muffet sat on a tuffet eating her curds and way along came a spider who sat down beside her

[01:36:56] [SPEAKER_15]: and frightened miss muffet away zander says to giles and we just played this here's your copy

[01:37:02] [SPEAKER_15]: from the finest columbian lighter fluid columbian coffee is thought by many to be the best coffee

[01:37:08] [SPEAKER_15]: in the world and brewed from the finest columbian coffee beans is a coffee commercial tagline and

[01:37:14] [SPEAKER_15]: selling things I like Hawaiian coffee but Hawaiian coffee is delicious yeah I just got

[01:37:23] [SPEAKER_03]: really happy that is really good I can't help little miss muffet I there's a terrible joke

[01:37:29] [SPEAKER_03]: my great uncle Bobby would say who's you know but instead of little miss muffet sat on a truffet

[01:37:37] [SPEAKER_03]: eating her curds away went along came a spider who sat down beside her and said hey bitch what

[01:37:42] [SPEAKER_03]: you got what you got in the bowl he told me that when I was like five or six and I thought

[01:37:50] [SPEAKER_03]: that was how it went

[01:38:03] [SPEAKER_03]: it was definitely high school and my dad was just like I thought you knew he was

[01:38:08] [SPEAKER_03]: kidding I was like you're the adult you didn't tell me yeah I just went with it but whatever

[01:38:14] [SPEAKER_16]: right I was in college when I realized that the my childhood cat didn't run away to a farm

[01:38:21] [SPEAKER_16]: to go live and then she was actually put down and I was like wait she did it we just accept things

[01:38:29] [SPEAKER_15]: so one of my best friends in college we were sitting around one night talking about like

[01:38:34] [SPEAKER_15]: you know our favorite games from when we were a little kid and she goes did you guys play

[01:38:39] [SPEAKER_15]: Run Yourself Ragged and I was like what I've never heard of that game and she's like Run

[01:38:44] [SPEAKER_15]: Yourself Ragged where like you and your brother race to see who can like run out the front door

[01:38:48] [SPEAKER_15]: and go all the way around the house and come back in and I was like did your mom teach

[01:38:55] [SPEAKER_15]: you that game and she's like yeah and I was like Run Yourself Ragged go to bed early

[01:39:01] [SPEAKER_15]: and my friend was like what are you talking about I was like that's not a game that was

[01:39:05] [SPEAKER_15]: your mom just trying to get you to burn energy before bedtime and my friend was like

[01:39:12] [SPEAKER_15]: her whole perspective on life changed like she was like what I'm stealing that for when I have a kid

[01:39:24] [SPEAKER_03]: relatively harmless

[01:39:25] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah yeah yeah

[01:39:37] [SPEAKER_03]: and our last pop culture or not so pop culture reference is when the mayor after of course angel

[01:39:47] [SPEAKER_03]: pulls him off Buffy and sends him flying through the air says well looks like someone's been

[01:39:52] [SPEAKER_03]: eating his spinach which is of course a reference to Pipeye the sailor man a cartoon character who

[01:39:58] [SPEAKER_03]: eats spinach usually canned in order to keep his strength up and his arms bulging Pipeye originated

[01:40:06] [SPEAKER_03]: I can't say bulging I'm 12 Pipeye originated in a comic strip and ended up both being made into

[01:40:14] [SPEAKER_03]: TV shows and movies it was originally drawn by Elze Sagard and is currently drawn by High Iceman

[01:40:24] [SPEAKER_16]: that's bulging now I think of the Olympics and yeah oh Paul Valter guy yeah he didn't

[01:40:31] [SPEAKER_16]: win the Olympics but he won at life forever in our hearts man zoom in

[01:40:37] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah

[01:40:41] [SPEAKER_16]: the uh I'm not so sure if it's more of a culture um uh callback I guess this is a nerdy culture

[01:40:49] [SPEAKER_16]: callback for any of us social psychologists out there of I referenced it briefly and

[01:40:57] [SPEAKER_16]: in the graduation part one episode that that we did so a lot of what we see happen with

[01:41:03] [SPEAKER_16]: high school and how you can get all of these students all to fight together as we've seen

[01:41:08] [SPEAKER_16]: they don't all get along is based on realistic conflict theory and it's a social psychological

[01:41:15] [SPEAKER_16]: model of intergroup conflict and the theory explains how intergroup hostility can arise

[01:41:21] [SPEAKER_16]: as a result of conflicting goals and competition over limited resources and often offers an

[01:41:27] [SPEAKER_16]: explanation for the feelings of harassment prejudice and discrimination towards the out

[01:41:32] [SPEAKER_16]: that accompany the intergroup hostility we see this a lot in schools especially high school

[01:41:38] [SPEAKER_16]: groups may be in competition for real or perceived scarcity of resources such as money

[01:41:45] [SPEAKER_16]: power protection social status and the best way to get people to come together is to have

[01:41:53] [SPEAKER_16]: a common enemy we see this from the robbers cave theory and the concept is is uniting people

[01:41:59] [SPEAKER_16]: towards a common enemy then the different hierarchical structures start to become unified

[01:42:05] [SPEAKER_15]: towards one goal right fighting with the jocks you you empower the us them in a different way

[01:42:12] [SPEAKER_15]: right you yeah you move them to an external a truly external person and then the groups

[01:42:19] [SPEAKER_15]: become an us it works yeah uh in like lots of social situations and famously was used by

[01:42:28] [SPEAKER_15]: Nelson Mandela after he was released from prison and he became president he put a lot of time

[01:42:35] [SPEAKER_15]: energy resources into restarting the rugby team in South Africa because he knew that having

[01:42:42] [SPEAKER_15]: something to root for and to play against other countries would unite the people in a way

[01:42:49] [SPEAKER_15]: that politics and other things never would yep that's smart he was very smart he definitely

[01:42:56] [SPEAKER_16]: read some sociological psychological stuff in the background of how do we get people to

[01:43:07] [SPEAKER_16]: about the inequity and injustice and what happens when division and how to make

[01:43:14] [SPEAKER_16]: you know how do i distract them once i'm out of here like yep smart guy yeah absolutely

[01:43:20] [SPEAKER_15]: so that brings us to trivia and i'll start us off according to marty noxon in a dvd commentary

[01:43:29] [SPEAKER_15]: the explosion scene was filmed at 5 a.m in torrance california where all the outdoor scenes

[01:43:34] [SPEAKER_15]: had been filmed for the previous three years the explosion was so huge it woke up many of

[01:43:40] [SPEAKER_15]: the residents broke windows and set off car alarms as a result the town refused to allow

[01:43:45] [SPEAKER_15]: buffy to film there again so it's a good thing to do at high school yeah fair especially if you

[01:43:51] [SPEAKER_16]: didn't warn these people fair right five in the morning like i'm freaking cranky i think the

[01:43:59] [SPEAKER_15]: world is ending my goodness yeah imagine how terrifying that would be you're in your home

[01:44:04] [SPEAKER_16]: and it's like what yeah you're sleeping yeah no they oh man they must have thought it was

[01:44:15] [SPEAKER_16]: up the school it's the best day ever yeah i like that definitely is the underline

[01:44:26] [SPEAKER_03]: there you go there's that's what marty noxon quote i guess i spliced it weird

[01:44:34] [SPEAKER_16]: oh yes unfortunately when we weren't the residents of torrance we were going to blow

[01:44:39] [SPEAKER_16]: it up we neglected to say when and when it was up at 5 a.m in the morning torrance is still

[01:44:46] [SPEAKER_16]: upset with us i want to interview torrance people like 25 years later i know i remember the day

[01:44:55] [SPEAKER_03]: what i love about this is that it was apparently like three years later

[01:45:00] [SPEAKER_03]: they were supposed to go back and film and i love that she talks about like i there was

[01:45:06] [SPEAKER_03]: phone call from some irate lady saying you should be punished for what you did three years ago

[01:45:12] [SPEAKER_03]: i mean i really should have been like signed or something oh my gosh i love this next one

[01:45:19] [SPEAKER_03]: oh yeah the the mutant enemy monster is sporting your graduation cap at the end of

[01:45:25] [SPEAKER_15]: this episode it was a very nice touch so cute i love that all right this brings us to the part

[01:45:33] [SPEAKER_15]: of the episode where i ask you does it still slay sam i'd say yeah i i'd say overall most

[01:45:44] [SPEAKER_16]: of these things really do slay yeah yeah caro what do you think i say yes it's just such a

[01:45:51] [SPEAKER_03]: fun episode it really doesn't have any bad parts no it's so quintessentially zbuffy

[01:45:58] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah too i think it's a very good example of what the series stands for and the best parts of it

[01:46:07] [SPEAKER_16]: except for the wesley killing the wesley kissing cordelia having that flop

[01:46:16] [SPEAKER_15]: yeah at least it is kind of brilliant like if they had had that go well i would have been

[01:46:22] [SPEAKER_15]: stooped out by it but the fact that it flopped really sort of reflects back on the whole

[01:46:27] [SPEAKER_15]: season of it where you're like yeah that was never a good idea no never gonna be good and

[01:46:32] [SPEAKER_03]: kids don't try it to see if it flops not a good idea it makes it more tolerable on a rewatch too

[01:46:38] [SPEAKER_03]: knowing that this moment is coming yeah yeah yeah okay so before we get into feedback from

[01:46:47] [SPEAKER_15]: our listeners i want to apologize for how delayed this particular podcast episode is getting

[01:46:53] [SPEAKER_15]: for people who follow us week to week we're so sorry it has been cursed so many things have popped

[01:47:00] [SPEAKER_15]: up and and delayed us time and time again there's been like there's been hurricanes

[01:47:09] [SPEAKER_15]: power outages there's been hospital internet outages internet outages just pneumonia

[01:47:16] [SPEAKER_16]: yeah there's there's been like listeners there today when we went to go like went to go record

[01:47:24] [SPEAKER_16]: i was in a movie theater on a perfectly beautiful day that the entire movie theater's power went

[01:47:29] [SPEAKER_16]: out midway through so we had to wait for it to come back on so that we could finish watching

[01:47:33] [SPEAKER_16]: the movie and i'm like oh the curse has hit again yeah so we were late starting today

[01:47:42] [SPEAKER_03]: after another but luckily i have never experienced anything like that before

[01:47:48] [SPEAKER_03]: um so for some reason apparently we weren't meant to put this episode out until now wanted

[01:47:54] [SPEAKER_16]: to so i think they're just like they wanted the powers that be yeah yeah yeah wanted us

[01:48:01] [SPEAKER_15]: to delay this is the end of our season three coverage for buffy and as you all know season

[01:48:07] [SPEAKER_15]: four of buffy and season one of angel were released at the same time and we are going

[01:48:12] [SPEAKER_15]: to cover both we are going to go back and forth between the two shows the exact order

[01:48:19] [SPEAKER_15]: is not one-to-one and i'm gonna publish that on podcastica.com i'll also put it in the show

[01:48:27] [SPEAKER_15]: notes for this episode so you can look at the order and you can follow along and and make

[01:48:32] [SPEAKER_15]: you know you're you're watching at the same time that we are um sam is going to join us on a more

[01:48:39] [SPEAKER_15]: frequent basis in the future as is jim jim couldn't be with us tonight because he's got

[01:48:46] [SPEAKER_15]: his own crazy life where he has to drive between north carolina and pennsylvania all

[01:48:51] [SPEAKER_15]: the time and today was one of those days but he will be with us for uh season one of angel

[01:48:56] [SPEAKER_15]: especially he's a huge angel fan and we are very excited i think we're gonna still do bring it on

[01:49:04] [SPEAKER_15]: in between the two seasons and then uh we'll probably be starting um both buffy season four

[01:49:12] [SPEAKER_15]: and angel season one somewhere around the first week of september you know get your feedback

[01:49:16] [SPEAKER_15]: in for bring it on we'd love to hear from all of you especially you becky because i know

[01:49:21] [SPEAKER_15]: you were a cheerleader that's right tell us and then we'll be back for season four

[01:49:30] [SPEAKER_15]: of buffy where she goes to college and the first episode of season four has guest star

[01:49:35] [SPEAKER_15]: patrick pascal we're gonna be really excited about that and talk about how much we love

[01:49:39] [SPEAKER_15]: patrick pascal and um and episode one of season one of angel and that's gonna be a lot

[01:49:47] [SPEAKER_15]: fun and we uh we're really excited about it we're really looking forward to it you guys

[01:49:52] [SPEAKER_15]: um but we did want to apologize for all the delays even though it was really kind of outside

[01:49:57] [SPEAKER_15]: of our hands i think it's time that we go get some beers at the bronze listen to dingo's ate

[01:50:05] [SPEAKER_03]: my baby i would love to actually do that minus the life-threatening aspects of it yeah i mean

[01:50:15] [SPEAKER_15]: every time they go to the bronze like somebody breaks that giant picture window

[01:50:19] [SPEAKER_16]: i know and my one of my toxic traits is i think i could make spike be normal and nice to me

[01:50:28] [SPEAKER_16]: okay yeah right before i would totally be dinner yeah like i would totally be dinner

[01:50:33] [SPEAKER_16]: but like that's one of my toxic traits yeah it'd be real nice for a while yeah yeah

[01:50:42] [SPEAKER_03]: let's talk about your mother spike their insurance costs also must be must be through the roof

[01:50:48] [SPEAKER_15]: at the i have to believe that maybe whoever owns the bronze has like a brother who runs a

[01:50:55] [SPEAKER_16]: construction it's the only way so the cops never show up so they're just like you know

[01:51:02] [SPEAKER_14]: the police of sunnydale are deeply stupid yeah they're just like

[01:51:10] [SPEAKER_15]: so unfortunately sam had to go because she has you know a job and stuff

[01:51:17] [SPEAKER_15]: she has to be ready for but we're gonna get into some listener feedback bronze things things

[01:51:23] [SPEAKER_15]: bronze and our first letter is from becky i'll read this it says hey thoughts about graduation

[01:51:32] [SPEAKER_15]: day part two willow's uncomfortableness when angel mistakes her for buffy was a great moment

[01:51:38] [SPEAKER_15]: i love how well hanigan pulls that off neat segue from buffy and angel in the hospital

[01:51:43] [SPEAKER_15]: to the mayor in faith the mayor showed his weakness to angel when he lashed out

[01:51:49] [SPEAKER_15]: extremely sweet exchange between faith and buffy in faith's apartment that's the dream sequence

[01:51:55] [SPEAKER_15]: nice call back to the friendship they once had and by interacting with faith buffy was able

[01:52:00] [SPEAKER_15]: to figure out what she needed to do to stop the ascension when buffy wakes up and goes to faith's

[01:52:06] [SPEAKER_15]: room and kisses her on the forehead was such a beautiful moment i agree i love that moment becky

[01:52:10] [SPEAKER_15]: yeah i love how they go back and forth between the scooby gangs planning to the

[01:52:18] [SPEAKER_15]: editing just fantastic every time they mentioned zander as the key foreshadowing for another key

[01:52:26] [SPEAKER_15]: maybe um g at the kiss between cordy and wesley i thought he was going to eat her face it's true

[01:52:36] [SPEAKER_15]: he was like slobbery and like it was hands were weird the whole thing was so awkward

[01:52:42] [SPEAKER_15]: i love that wesley came back to help a glimpse into who he'll become later

[01:52:45] [SPEAKER_15]: yeah my heart broke a little when angel told buffy he wasn't going to say goodbye

[01:52:50] [SPEAKER_15]: i get it but i'm glad they did get a moment later one of the coolest scenes of the series

[01:52:55] [SPEAKER_15]: is when the whole school sheds their graduation robes and bands together to fight the big bad

[01:53:00] [SPEAKER_15]: i remember watching that for the first time and cheering out loud

[01:53:04] [SPEAKER_15]: lol and wesley being knocked down immediately and not getting back up poor guy he really

[01:53:09] [SPEAKER_15]: tried uh snider a total dick till the end lol i adore the moment between buffy and giles

[01:53:16] [SPEAKER_15]: when he hands her the diploma and the moment at the end where os makes note they survived

[01:53:20] [SPEAKER_15]: not the battle but high school i hope the mayor's tombstone reads well gosh

[01:53:27] [SPEAKER_15]: correct me up when he said that that look between angel and buffy before he departs for

[01:53:32] [SPEAKER_15]: la powerful isn't that seen in the opening credits for angel oh i don't know it might

[01:53:38] [SPEAKER_15]: i think so buffy's leather jacket is fire uh favorite quotes when zander brings giles coffee

[01:53:47] [SPEAKER_15]: here's your coffee brewed from the finest columbian lighter fluid when cordy is asking

[01:53:52] [SPEAKER_15]: about wesley i demand an explanation for wesley and zander says inbreeding

[01:53:57] [SPEAKER_15]: when wesley walks in talking about how they need more to stop the ascension and zander says

[01:54:03] [SPEAKER_15]: hey it's mr states the obvious uh wesley and cordy after the kiss cordy good luck in england

[01:54:09] [SPEAKER_15]: wesley i'll drop you a line sometime so well acted between the two of them i love this episode

[01:54:15] [SPEAKER_15]: it's in my top 10 i am jealous of people getting to see it now for the first time

[01:54:19] [SPEAKER_15]: i love how they did an excellent job setting up for the angel spin-off each character saw

[01:54:24] [SPEAKER_15]: emotional growth in this episode and it shows how they each graduated from something

[01:54:28] [SPEAKER_15]: other than just high school packed full of personal character growth stellar action

[01:54:32] [SPEAKER_15]: suspense drama and the right amount of humor this is exactly what the buffy show is all about

[01:54:37] [SPEAKER_15]: and i loved every second of it farewell mayor you will be missed snider not so much have a

[01:54:42] [SPEAKER_03]: wonderful week or weekend grr thanks becky that's so funny yeah i'll miss the mayor snider

[01:54:50] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah let's see and joleen i will say i also saw your post on facebook joleen asking if

[01:54:59] [SPEAKER_03]: everything was okay and i wanted to say we appreciate it i hope you heard us talk about

[01:55:04] [SPEAKER_03]: how this episode has been absolutely cursed in terms of getting together and making a recording

[01:55:12] [SPEAKER_03]: but we love you i thought that was really nice and she sent us her feedback saying hi everyone

[01:55:19] [SPEAKER_03]: hopefully this makes hopefully this one makes it in time don't you worry joleen you have plenty of

[01:55:26] [SPEAKER_03]: time to get this one in plenty of time i said miss part one so going to do both in this as

[01:55:32] [SPEAKER_03]: always i love these episodes i don't think there is there's a strong a finale a season

[01:55:38] [SPEAKER_03]: two had but it still goes out with a bang literally i don't know how true this is but

[01:55:44] [SPEAKER_03]: i did read once that they had to quickly edit bits of it because they didn't want to show the

[01:55:49] [SPEAKER_03]: school blowing up quite so explicitly after columbine well they definitely delayed it that's

[01:55:55] [SPEAKER_03]: for sure um said anyway the drama from the beginning anya trying to get zander on another

[01:56:01] [SPEAKER_03]: date before running for the hills at the mention of the ascension faith and her bow and arrow

[01:56:06] [SPEAKER_03]: wesley finally growing a pair and trying to get the council to help angel even if they do

[01:56:11] [SPEAKER_03]: say no at least he tried buffy telling the council where to shove it and the main storyline

[01:56:17] [SPEAKER_03]: hasn't even started yet i'm never fully convinced that buffy would have gone through with

[01:56:22] [SPEAKER_03]: killing faith slash letting angel kill faith it's just not in her character you can see it in her

[01:56:27] [SPEAKER_03]: face when she actually stabs her i think she'd have always ended up sacrificing herself for

[01:56:33] [SPEAKER_03]: him i hate the bit in the hospital though when the others realize what buffy did for him i

[01:56:38] [SPEAKER_03]: never know whose side to be on i don't really want to talk about the dream sequence with

[01:56:43] [SPEAKER_03]: buffy and faith in the hospital because there's spoilers in there 730 and little miss muffet but i

[01:56:49] [SPEAKER_03]: do always like to think that it really happened between them though in some kind of magic slayer

[01:56:55] [SPEAKER_03]: telepathic way i agree uh so buffy's last office romance comment if only she knew that that that's

[01:57:03] [SPEAKER_03]: true cordelia as tactful as ever with her comment about giles still hanging around like

[01:57:09] [SPEAKER_03]: big loser even though he got sacked and then that kiss with wesley i'd love to know how many

[01:57:15] [SPEAKER_03]: takes that took i'd have been crying laughing every time and she's i love this quote she says

[01:57:23] [SPEAKER_03]: oz's we attack the mayor with hummus and then a bit later on when cordelia comes up with the

[01:57:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Ebola plan i'm starting to lean towards the hummus offensive and oz's they'll never see it

[01:57:33] [SPEAKER_03]: coming the actual graduation scene is another one of my all-time favorite buffy scenes

[01:57:38] [SPEAKER_03]: snider ending his time as principal by being as awful as ever even when he's about to be eaten

[01:57:43] [SPEAKER_03]: by a giant snake demon buffy's realization that he's going to do the whole speech and willow's man

[01:57:49] [SPEAKER_03]: just ascend already always makes me laugh as do the terrible graphics when the mayor does actually

[01:57:56] [SPEAKER_03]: start to ascend i always pretty bad they're really bad oh gosh that almost makes it better

[01:58:05] [SPEAKER_03]: somehow i always get goosebumps though when buffy shouts now and they all stand up and pull their

[01:58:12] [SPEAKER_03]: robes off it's such a great scene especially coming after them giving buffy the class

[01:58:16] [SPEAKER_03]: protector award excellent fight scene god love wesley and his 10 seconds of trying and poor

[01:58:24] [SPEAKER_03]: larry and harmony and she said spoiler although harmony's death does lead to some

[01:58:31] [SPEAKER_03]: it's next season it does hurt my heart though at the end when buffy is looking around for angel

[01:58:37] [SPEAKER_03]: and then he's just stood there before disappearing into the smoke fire bad tree tree pretty i use

[01:58:45] [SPEAKER_03]: this quote all the time when i'm confused by something i like that just that i can't believe

[01:58:50] [SPEAKER_03]: we're at the end of season three already looking forward to season four and i'm especially

[01:58:55] [SPEAKER_03]: looking forward to doing a buffy and angel rewatch this time thanks for all the casts

[01:59:00] [SPEAKER_03]: for this season i really do love listening to them see you in season four joe lean well

[01:59:06] [SPEAKER_15]: thanks joe lean thanks joe lean um we got a kind of unusual email from stewart who said hi

[01:59:13] [SPEAKER_15]: penny and cara thanks for the coverage of buffy season three season three was the first

[01:59:18] [SPEAKER_15]: dvd tv box set i ever purchased it was that good i knew i had to own a copy that was when

[01:59:24] [SPEAKER_15]: dvds of a tv series was a relatively new thing at least in australia and i remember the price

[01:59:30] [SPEAKER_15]: being eye watering at the time i'm right there with you stewart it was also one of my first

[01:59:35] [SPEAKER_15]: uh i think i bought seasons one two and three all together and it was like a deal like by

[01:59:42] [SPEAKER_15]: buying all three i got a deal um thanks also for your glorious tangents we listeners never

[01:59:48] [SPEAKER_15]: know where you're going to take us next for fun i decided to put together some relevant

[01:59:52] [SPEAKER_15]: buffy sound bites if you ever want a tangent bumper keep slaying stewart stewart i listened

[01:59:57] [SPEAKER_15]: to the the sound bites that you put together for us and they're hilarious and perfect

[02:00:01] [SPEAKER_15]: and i'm definitely going to use them when i'm editing so thank you so much for that

[02:00:09] [SPEAKER_15]: so you're just diversion k more than a version

[02:00:13] [SPEAKER_15]: we also got a few voicemails from some of our loyal listeners and i think we should listen

[02:00:21] [SPEAKER_11]: to steve's first hello still slaying this is steve i'm about to finish graduation day

[02:00:29] [SPEAKER_11]: part one i'm gonna go right into part two and live steven and one more comment about this

[02:00:33] [SPEAKER_11]: this end fight of graduation day part one between faith and buffy it's really become apparent

[02:00:37] [SPEAKER_11]: on this re-watch how much how different or how much the difference in height is between

[02:00:43] [SPEAKER_11]: sarah michelle geller and her stunt double and after the previously on we pick up right

[02:00:47] [SPEAKER_11]: left off uh to the tb continue with buffy on the roof with the knife explanation for wesley

[02:00:55] [SPEAKER_11]: inbreeding forgot that he thought os was will was buffy too angel i mean in his delirium oh it's so

[02:01:04] [SPEAKER_11]: gross the sound of him drinking her from her neck okay at least he took her to the emergency

[02:01:09] [SPEAKER_11]: room and of course we have faith in the same hospital zander hit angel right where it hurts

[02:01:14] [SPEAKER_11]: you'll feed for yourself you'll feed on the girl you love just to save yourself

[02:01:17] [SPEAKER_11]: there's some foreshadowing in this dream sequence between buffy and faith but i don't

[02:01:22] [SPEAKER_11]: remember what all the significance is and it's for spoilers anyways so i'll wait to you

[02:01:25] [SPEAKER_11]: discuss in the spoilers oh buffy says she's ready for war and here's the basic plan you

[02:01:30] [SPEAKER_11]: didn't hear the plan but we're gonna see the plan play out and zander is gets gets to be

[02:01:34] [SPEAKER_11]: key guy i love it willow zander everybody gathering the troops oh yeah i remember

[02:01:39] [SPEAKER_11]: cordelia and wesley that's so gross actually they do play it pretty well but absolutely no

[02:01:44] [SPEAKER_11]: chemistry part wesley and cordelia i mean and willow and os getting on in the van

[02:01:48] [SPEAKER_11]: so this moment between buffy and angel the close captioning he said if we get through this

[02:01:52] [SPEAKER_11]: but i could have swore it sounds like he says when we get through this snider being

[02:01:57] [SPEAKER_11]: snider at the beginning to introduce the mayor oh and the mayor begins to turn into a giant

[02:02:02] [SPEAKER_11]: snake whole senior class reveals their weapons who's with angel and wesley who are all these

[02:02:07] [SPEAKER_11]: people that he got to help poor larry and snider gets his we do see mercedes getting

[02:02:12] [SPEAKER_11]: mercedes harmonie getting bit i think i ever realized in the in the library the bookshelves

[02:02:16] [SPEAKER_11]: are all empty and of course the mayor's last words well gosh fire bad tree pretty

[02:02:21] [SPEAKER_11]: love it so giles hands are a diploma how does he know it's her diploma did he open it up

[02:02:27] [SPEAKER_11]: and then re-roll it back up and tie it up again and of course angel just walks away

[02:02:31] [SPEAKER_15]: all right on to season four thanks steve i always it's like i go through all of the emotions with

[02:02:38] [SPEAKER_15]: him when i know i love it so much and it's such a classic podcastica thing so great

[02:02:44] [SPEAKER_15]: all right we have one from anwin my co-host over on cast of the rings which is starting

[02:03:01] [SPEAKER_01]: high school is over love the episode korean wesley was so funny when they were shelving all those

[02:03:09] [SPEAKER_01]: books i was part of me was like why are they shelving those books or packing the books and

[02:03:13] [SPEAKER_01]: then later on i realized why because they had to empty them out of the library anyway their

[02:03:17] [SPEAKER_01]: awkwardness was hilarious so well acted and it was classic that they were so hot for each

[02:03:22] [SPEAKER_01]: other and then as soon as they kissed they were like ill i loved the faith and buffy

[02:03:27] [SPEAKER_01]: when faith and buffy were both unconscious it was really cool it kind of showed their

[02:03:33] [SPEAKER_01]: connection even though they just tried to kill each other they understand each other a lot

[02:03:36] [SPEAKER_01]: better than anybody else does it was quite sweet angel when he was feeding from buffy

[02:03:44] [SPEAKER_01]: that was kind of hot i have to say even though she was at death's door it was pretty

[02:03:51] [SPEAKER_01]: awesome scene um what else when they're in the hospital i don't think angels ever looked so good

[02:03:58] [SPEAKER_01]: he just looked so great and then later when the scuby gang shows up and basically tells

[02:04:04] [SPEAKER_01]: him off for feeding off his girlfriend he just wears that guilt so beautifully he wears it as

[02:04:11] [SPEAKER_01]: beautifully as he wears that sweater ah angel i think the scene with the whole graduation was

[02:04:19] [SPEAKER_01]: awesome doesn't stand up quite so well anymore with the very very bad digital snake or serpent

[02:04:26] [SPEAKER_01]: but it was really cool seeing everybody battle in the moment when everyone whips off their

[02:04:32] [SPEAKER_01]: graduation gowns and everyone's wept and up it's just a really cool ending to that high school

[02:04:36] [SPEAKER_01]: all those kids have dealt with so much over their years random eclipse i don't know whether

[02:04:42] [SPEAKER_01]: that came from the mayor was unexpected but usually a total eclipse of the sun people are

[02:04:47] [SPEAKER_01]: aware of but let's just go with the fact that it was part of the whole spell thing and then

[02:04:53] [SPEAKER_01]: finally angel leaving you want them to snuggle but it's kind of great how he just turns and

[02:04:58] [SPEAKER_01]: walks away so sad and of course nobody walks away into the mist with a swish of a black coat

[02:05:04] [SPEAKER_01]: like our angel that's it season three all done looking forward to the next season and

[02:05:11] [SPEAKER_01]: seeing how it stacks up to when i first saw it years ago thanks so much for everything you

[02:05:18] [SPEAKER_15]: bye no thanks and when and i am very much looking forward to working with you again soon

[02:05:24] [SPEAKER_15]: i can't wait to listen and hopefully yes yeah and we have one more voicemail it's from

[02:05:32] [SPEAKER_15]: piot and he says it's the part two of his audible series about his high school experiences

[02:05:37] [SPEAKER_15]: and i have been dying to listen to it but i have not listened to it because i wanted to be

[02:05:44] [SPEAKER_15]: spontaneous hearing it on the podcast so here we go this is audible a hundred days later

[02:05:53] [SPEAKER_09]: types of erosion or i wish there was a snake demon at my high school graduation ceremony

[02:06:00] [SPEAKER_09]: read by piotr for the still slaying podcast there was a long green velvet adorned table

[02:06:07] [SPEAKER_09]: in the prominent section of our musty old auditorium the school principal named a few

[02:06:14] [SPEAKER_09]: kids who deserve some awards for best grades best behavior best student best obedient worker

[02:06:20] [SPEAKER_09]: material there was no class protector award nor was there an award for achievements in arts

[02:06:26] [SPEAKER_09]: even though it was an art school then it was time to hand out the diplomas

[02:06:32] [SPEAKER_09]: when i heard my name called out i approached the left side of the long table

[02:06:36] [SPEAKER_09]: and had a slip of official looking paper handed to me there were about 10 teachers i

[02:06:43] [SPEAKER_09]: shake hands with and as i moved along i heard their faint congratulations until i reached the

[02:06:50] [SPEAKER_09]: other end where the diploma was snatched away from me i walked back into the crowd empty-handed

[02:06:58] [SPEAKER_09]: the reason for this monty python-esque stunt was that i was told to hold on to my diploma

[02:07:05] [SPEAKER_09]: only for a moment because i had to come back to retake my geography final exam in august

[02:07:11] [SPEAKER_09]: and have my grade added it just had to look festive and pompous for the ceremony

[02:07:18] [SPEAKER_09]: unfortunately the colleges accepted all paperwork until the end of june so

[02:07:23] [SPEAKER_09]: my dream of continuing art education was now overshadowed by the perspective of being

[02:07:28] [SPEAKER_09]: drafted to the military for two years only because of one silly geography oral exam slip-up

[02:07:35] [SPEAKER_09]: i should have studied for it but i've listened to some other kids saying

[02:07:40] [SPEAKER_09]: that it doesn't need to be studied for because it's just an additional exam and the teacher

[02:07:45] [SPEAKER_09]: passes everyone everyone she likes they should have added but there was a handful of teachers

[02:07:53] [SPEAKER_09]: i could still rely on in high school one of them an energetic guy in his mid-20s named

[02:07:58] [SPEAKER_09]: jarek who just finished college and came back to his old high school to teach he was in the

[02:08:06] [SPEAKER_09]: contemporary art the stuff no one has heard of in our part of the woods

[02:08:10] [SPEAKER_09]: minimalism conceptual art jasper jones joseph boys jenny halter joseph kossuth

[02:08:17] [SPEAKER_09]: and other crisp sounding foreign names with a lot of j's in them he unleashed a sort of

[02:08:24] [SPEAKER_09]: contemporary art revolution at our rather conservative institution for which he was

[02:08:29] [SPEAKER_09]: later fired by the way he encouraged me to apply for his alma mater in poznán west of

[02:08:35] [SPEAKER_09]: poland where there might be a possibility of bringing the paperwork later because i mean

[02:08:40] [SPEAKER_09]: come on this is the progressive part of poland only a couple hundred kilometers from berlin

[02:08:47] [SPEAKER_09]: they don't put too much emphasis on paperwork i never thought i would go there it was too far

[02:08:53] [SPEAKER_09]: from home i gave it a shot only because back then i thought going to a remote college was

[02:08:58] [SPEAKER_09]: a little better than cleaning latrine floors with a toothbrush at some sketchy military base

[02:09:04] [SPEAKER_09]: and switching from an art school to the army would be too much of a shock anyway

[02:09:10] [SPEAKER_09]: i passed my entry exams and was accepted to college with a second place

[02:09:15] [SPEAKER_09]: i was later told that my geography teacher's face turned lobster red in anger after she

[02:09:21] [SPEAKER_09]: found out about it um at the teacher's meeting what he got into college but what about the

[02:09:28] [SPEAKER_09]: paperwork then i passed my overdue geography exam the topic of which i will never forget

[02:09:35] [SPEAKER_09]: types of erosion all necessary paperwork was provided in time and i was on my way to almost

[02:09:43] [SPEAKER_09]: berlin from there the trajectory of my life's events steered me towards america where i

[02:09:49] [SPEAKER_09]: stayed as it seems indefinitely next time i get asked why i came to the u.s i will simply

[02:09:56] [SPEAKER_09]: types of erosion as for the back i wonder what would be the actual extent of damage

[02:10:04] [SPEAKER_09]: brought about by the ascension if it came to fruition and wasn't stopped since it seemed

[02:10:10] [SPEAKER_09]: like in the past it was a kind of local event that ended up with burying the demon under

[02:10:16] [SPEAKER_09]: volcanic ashes how would the snake mayor deal with the modern response wouldn't the u.s federal

[02:10:22] [SPEAKER_09]: with all the advanced weaponry put a stop to a giant reptile of some kind rather quickly

[02:10:29] [SPEAKER_09]: why did zander have to turn kids into soldiers when an actual army would have done the job

[02:10:34] [SPEAKER_09]: without too many casualties so many questions until next time keep slaying

[02:10:42] [SPEAKER_15]: i love that there are sound effects the music and the sound effects were so good oh my god

[02:10:50] [SPEAKER_15]: that was very good production value yeah i'm i'm a little embarrassed now about all the

[02:11:50] [SPEAKER_15]: really good season it was so fun to listen and i got so much out of the podcast coverage

[02:11:55] [SPEAKER_15]: i need the podcast to understand most of that show i i just get i get so much out of

[02:12:04] [SPEAKER_15]: out of the discussion between renny veronica and wendy about the patriarchy it makes me

[02:12:11] [SPEAKER_15]: so happy to hear like intelligent women talking about the patriarchy and also dragons it's like

[02:12:18] [SPEAKER_15]: everything i love i'm so in depth uh the revisited podcast is about to finish covering ted lasso

[02:12:27] [SPEAKER_15]: and they're gonna start the good place next and i love the good place that's gonna be so fun

[02:12:33] [SPEAKER_15]: so that's gonna be really fun to listen to and to follow along with and of course i've

[02:12:38] [SPEAKER_15]: already cast of the rings is back soon because rings of power season two starts at the end of

[02:12:44] [SPEAKER_15]: august and and when and i are like texting each other up a storm with like ideas and

[02:12:52] [SPEAKER_15]: we're both doing a rewatch of season one right now to like get ourselves ready and

[02:12:57] [SPEAKER_15]: she's a couple episodes ahead of me and she's like oh wait till you get to this part and

[02:13:01] [SPEAKER_15]: that part and i'm like stop spoiling it so um we're just really excited

[02:13:08] [SPEAKER_03]: that's gonna be fun oh i can't wait the good place is gonna be

[02:13:13] [SPEAKER_03]: a very very fun show to dive back into and if you like what we do please give us a five star

[02:13:20] [SPEAKER_03]: rating a review or a like follow and subscribe next time we'll be covering bring it on for

[02:13:26] [SPEAKER_03]: a little break between season three finale and the beginning of season four so be sure to send

[02:13:32] [SPEAKER_03]: in your feedback and tune in for that one thanks everyone and guys take a moment to deal with this

[02:13:40] [SPEAKER_15]: we survived it was a hell of a battle oh not the battle high school

[02:13:49] [SPEAKER_03]: such a perfect little quote for that episode i loved it all right so that's the end of the

[02:13:58] [SPEAKER_15]: spoiler section if you want to avoid the spoilers you should stop listening right now

[02:14:03] [SPEAKER_04]: three two one on two oh the watcher's diaries it's too bad we can't sneak a look at the

[02:14:11] [SPEAKER_04]: watcher diaries i'm sure it's full of fun facts to know and tell yeah that's too bad

[02:14:17] [SPEAKER_04]: that stuff is private also giles keeps them in his office in his personal files most importantly

[02:14:25] [SPEAKER_15]: it would be wrong so listeners episode is cursed a glass of water on myself but it was almost empty

[02:14:32] [SPEAKER_15]: so it's not too bad okay watcher's diaries so we've been alluding to this this whole time but

[02:14:41] [SPEAKER_15]: the foreshadowing in the dream sequence is dawn season five that's little miss muffett

[02:14:48] [SPEAKER_15]: counting down from 730 because there's 730 days between when this episode was supposed to air

[02:14:56] [SPEAKER_03]: and when season five starts is it the start because i thought i thought it was 730 like two

[02:15:05] [SPEAKER_03]: years between this oh and the gift i always thought it was to the start of season five but

[02:15:09] [SPEAKER_03]: five like and the the only reason i say that because i was i've done

[02:15:16] [SPEAKER_03]: since i got the dvds yeah because i think there's commentary is it i don't know

[02:15:25] [SPEAKER_03]: i could have googled i guess that was an option but i think it's from the gift

[02:15:33] [SPEAKER_03]: because then in you know in in restless and season four when buffy has that crazy

[02:15:42] [SPEAKER_03]: dream sequence does that went like tara buffy looks at the clock and it says 730

[02:15:48] [SPEAKER_03]: and tara makes the comment like oh only a year's passed and that's the finale of season four

[02:15:53] [SPEAKER_03]: and then i think that's but either way i love how far ahead they were planning this crap

[02:16:03] [SPEAKER_03]: like it is so good like i get chills thinking about all the little details coming up when i

[02:16:13] [SPEAKER_15]: heard it this time around i was like oh yeah um we get to talk about this now and then

[02:16:18] [SPEAKER_15]: you know westly and cording have this awkward horrible moment and then they get reunited in

[02:16:24] [SPEAKER_15]: season one of angel when westly shows up in los angeles as a rogue demon hunter um and he's he's

[02:16:33] [SPEAKER_15]: he's a little scruffier but he's still a little scruffier and he and cordelia sort of

[02:16:39] [SPEAKER_15]: joke about their of their embarrassing cringey kiss and then they go on to have a very

[02:16:44] [SPEAKER_15]: professional relationship um i mean as professional as anyone has with anyone in angel where they're

[02:16:52] [SPEAKER_15]: you know supernatural detectives um but westly's character goes through

[02:16:58] [SPEAKER_15]: so much change on that show and he gets hotter and hotter and hotter and darker and darker

[02:17:08] [SPEAKER_15]: right darker and he eventually has one of the saddest so dark death scenes of any character

[02:17:19] [SPEAKER_15]: i can't we all fall in love with westly on angel like it's so funny because when he shows up on

[02:17:25] [SPEAKER_15]: buffy i'm like yay westley's here yeah and then i'm like oh that's right he's not fun yet he's

[02:17:29] [SPEAKER_15]: a dork yeah we don't love him yet but he gets love yeah we don't we don't love him yet

[02:17:35] [SPEAKER_15]: but he his character growth is insane how much in a really legitimate pace where it's

[02:17:45] [SPEAKER_15]: they do it so well that he gets from point a to point b we do also eventually get to meet

[02:17:51] [SPEAKER_15]: his father and understand how he got to be the way he is too which is great that's very helpful

[02:17:57] [SPEAKER_03]: i mean we kind of figured you could gather but it's nice being able to actually see for your

[02:18:05] [SPEAKER_03]: very own eyes what westley had to deal with and who shaped him but i i think the move of both

[02:18:15] [SPEAKER_03]: cordy and wes over to angel was such a smart one just because you know it's cordelia this

[02:18:22] [SPEAKER_03]: i almost brought this up during the show but it's too big of a spoiler that's the last time we see

[02:18:28] [SPEAKER_03]: cordelia on buffy she is strictly angel after this and obviously she interacts when buffy or

[02:18:35] [SPEAKER_03]: willow or whoever else from the buffy verse comes over from buffy to angel but she doesn't

[02:18:40] [SPEAKER_03]: go back to appear on buffy and i i think that was absolutely the right move for her character

[02:18:49] [SPEAKER_03]: because i can't really see her fitting in with them again with the college storylines

[02:18:57] [SPEAKER_03]: and it makes sense to me that cordy would go off to la but it also feels i don't know i think

[02:19:03] [SPEAKER_03]: it ties the two together so well too to have not just angel transitioning over to his own show

[02:19:12] [SPEAKER_03]: and cordy grows through a crap ton of growth she really becomes like i can't wait

[02:19:19] [SPEAKER_15]: and again like with westley it's earned it doesn't just like magically appear that she

[02:19:26] [SPEAKER_15]: is suddenly a hero she earns it and it's incredibly believable and she still retains

[02:19:34] [SPEAKER_15]: her truth-telling and sass the whole way through she

[02:19:41] [SPEAKER_03]: yes her character is still her that charisma ha ha is still very much there i just think of

[02:19:50] [SPEAKER_15]: the storyline which she's like they keep calling her a cow oh my god it's so good for her it's

[02:19:58] [SPEAKER_15]: funny yeah everything about pilea oh god i love loren we got a ways to go but i cannot wait so

[02:20:05] [SPEAKER_15]: many things on angel yes i think the first so good the first season of angel has a couple

[02:20:12] [SPEAKER_15]: of stinkers but after that it's pretty consistently great yeah um and uh you really

[02:20:21] [SPEAKER_15]: we're really gonna get to see a very different side of angel himself you know angel when

[02:20:27] [SPEAKER_15]: he's not you know just following buffy around like a sad puppy and has to actually come up with

[02:20:34] [SPEAKER_15]: his own motivations is yeah much more interesting yeah it's interesting i mean he's still moat

[02:20:43] [SPEAKER_15]: he's got a personality he's still gonna brood and mope yeah he ends up with a sense of humor

[02:20:47] [SPEAKER_15]: oh yeah more dynamic and uh and there's some great back and forth like spike goes back and

[02:20:54] [SPEAKER_15]: forth faith goes back and forth buffy goes back and forth angel shows up on buffy a couple of times

[02:21:00] [SPEAKER_15]: so the the two shows stay linked

[02:21:08] [SPEAKER_03]: i think they do a pretty good job of it like it doesn't ever feel

[02:21:13] [SPEAKER_15]: amazed i see people in my fan groups online and stuff say things like oh i never really

[02:21:19] [SPEAKER_15]: watched angel should i and i'm like how did you stop yourself from watching it like if i knew

[02:21:26] [SPEAKER_15]: there was a spin-off of a show i know i'm watching that show um yeah 100 percent and this one was

[02:21:36] [SPEAKER_03]: actually a very good yeah like well done its own spinoff flavor and its own and the food

[02:21:44] [SPEAKER_15]: it's not a copy of buffy it's got its whole own thing and it's got the horrible open credits

[02:21:49] [SPEAKER_15]: i hate the opening credits of angel but um it's got its whole own vibe and it's a different

[02:21:57] [SPEAKER_15]: it's a different story buffy's story is of someone who has no choice fate has put her

[02:22:05] [SPEAKER_15]: in this role and she rises to the occasion angel's story and the whole show is about

[02:22:12] [SPEAKER_15]: redemption and it's different buffy never has to be redeemed yeah yeah yeah it gives it a very

[02:22:23] [SPEAKER_03]: different flavor and we also kind of see a little bit of you know the establishing premise

[02:22:33] [SPEAKER_03]: for the spinoff at the end of season three in the idea of you know angel ends up going on

[02:22:38] [SPEAKER_03]: open angel investigations and basically trying to protect the innocent and make sure justice

[02:22:47] [SPEAKER_03]: is served and we start to see those interests in him and that being brought up in season three

[02:22:53] [SPEAKER_03]: and it's not heavy handed either so i think they do a really good job of just making

[02:22:58] [SPEAKER_03]: it feel like a natural seamless transition and i buy into him being interested in that line of

[02:23:06] [SPEAKER_03]: and that type of work it makes complete sense to me and then of course all the other

[02:23:15] [SPEAKER_03]: people from buffy that ultimately end up on harmony oh harmony harmony vampire harmony is

[02:23:24] [SPEAKER_15]: the best so good created i

[02:23:28] [SPEAKER_15]: she's so funny and so funny i love wolfram and heart i love that it's a it's what i gotta tell

[02:23:37] [SPEAKER_15]: you angel is one of the few shows that have like lawyers as major characters that i don't hate

[02:23:46] [SPEAKER_15]: because like yeah i hate most lawyers and that's saying something the lawyers on angel

[02:23:51] [SPEAKER_15]: are such perfect villains and they're such lawyers they're such lawyers it's great oh my god

[02:24:00] [SPEAKER_15]: lila i love lila so much oh i can't wait um we have a little bit of a spoiler conversation

[02:24:10] [SPEAKER_15]: with sam before she had to dial out for the night so i'm gonna i'm gonna paste that in here

[02:24:16] [SPEAKER_15]: when i edit it's gonna be a little awkward sorry guys but i didn't want to leave the

[02:24:19] [SPEAKER_16]: conversation out so the the one thing for the spoilery section yep when faith is making the

[02:24:29] [SPEAKER_16]: bed she's like yeah i gotta make room for sister or something like that i was like and

[02:24:35] [SPEAKER_15]: dialing down from 730 it's exactly 730 days until um yeah until uh season five premiere

[02:24:45] [SPEAKER_16]: oh that's what i thought she was out of her mind and i was like what but yeah yeah yeah

[02:24:53] [SPEAKER_16]: like i was like that's another reason why i thought is this faith because there's no

[02:24:59] [SPEAKER_16]: yeah or is it the power to be no mention of it when she comes back yeah all the things

[02:25:04] [SPEAKER_16]: it could be yeah because she makes when she comes back in season four right it was yeah

[02:25:10] [SPEAKER_16]: season four when she comes back and sleeps with riley and everything she doesn't bring that up

[02:25:15] [SPEAKER_16]: she doesn't have like any reference to this dream whatsoever no and so it was like i don't

[02:25:21] [SPEAKER_16]: know i don't know it's a little like in my head of like i don't know who it would be

[02:25:24] [SPEAKER_16]: but like yeah i was i was just like surprised about it because she knew about it i was like

[02:25:32] [SPEAKER_16]: awesome thank you so much ladies i'm going to finish doing laundry and go to bed because

[02:25:36] [SPEAKER_15]: be up at six a.m yeah have a good night we'll talk soon sleep well okay bye on that note

[02:25:44] [SPEAKER_15]: everybody go watch bring it on and um and get psyched for season four and uh for college

[02:25:52] [SPEAKER_03]: and Pedro Pascal and Riley Finn and all that good stuff it's coming oh Riley that'll be

[02:26:06] [SPEAKER_15]: very polarizing season for sure Adam all that stuff god Adam but we get the Halloween episode

[02:26:18] [SPEAKER_03]: and it's so good that is a great i'm not gonna lie i watched that episode this past Halloween

[02:26:25] [SPEAKER_03]: just it's so good i watched every Halloween episode so that one is fresher than others but

[02:26:31] [SPEAKER_15]: we'll get there we'll get all right that is the complete end of our show everybody thank

[02:26:36] [SPEAKER_15]: you for listening and until next time i'm Penny and I'm Kara keep playing

[02:26:59] [SPEAKER_06]: that's the basic plan so am i crazy well crazy is such a strong word let's not rule it out

[02:27:08] [SPEAKER_07]: though you don't think it can be done i didn't say that i might but not yet i personally

[02:27:14] [SPEAKER_05]: don't think it's possible to come up with a crazier plan we attack the mayor with hummus

[02:27:21] [SPEAKER_10]: i stand corrected just keeping things in perspective faith at the hospital he was

[02:28:57] [SPEAKER_08]: grieving seriously crazed and not just a homicidal i want to be a demon way

[02:29:03] [SPEAKER_00]: she's his weak link faith i can work that you haven't an enormous amount of time

[02:29:10] [SPEAKER_06]: hey it's mr states the obvious the council is not welcome here i have no time for orders

[02:29:18] [SPEAKER_06]: if i need someone to scream like a woman i'll give you a call i'm not here for the council

[02:29:24] [SPEAKER_06]: just tell me how i can help that is so classy isn't he just so classy it's a start
