[00:00.000 --> 00:10.000] The Revisited Podcast, Ben Beck & Kristin Hal
[00:31.000 --> 00:33.000] Let me ask you something, would you coach for free?
[00:34.000 --> 00:35.000] Yeah, I would.
[00:36.000 --> 00:37.000] But do you?
[00:37.000 --> 00:38.000] No, ma'am.
[00:38.000 --> 00:40.000] And yet you care about your players, right?
[00:41.000 --> 00:42.000] Yes, ma'am.
[00:42.000 --> 00:44.000] Then why would you assume it's not the same for me?
[00:45.000 --> 00:48.000] I don't assume that all coaches are macho dickheads.
[00:51.000 --> 00:52.000] That's a good point.
[00:54.000 --> 00:55.000] Consider me dunked on.
[00:55.000 --> 01:00.000] Hey, look, I'm really sorry about that.
[01:00.000 --> 01:03.000] You know, getting all worked up and saying stuff like that, then storming out of here.
[01:04.000 --> 01:05.000] It happens.
[01:06.000 --> 01:07.000] Self-care can be scary.
[01:08.000 --> 01:10.000] Fight or flight is a natural response.
[01:10.000 --> 01:11.000] You just happen to do both.
[01:12.000 --> 01:13.000] Impressive range, really.
[01:14.000 --> 01:16.000] Yeah, well, watch your back laying close.
[01:20.000 --> 01:21.000] So you think I'm scared, huh?
[01:21.000 --> 01:22.000] Yes, I do.
[01:23.000 --> 01:24.000] Yeah.
[01:25.000 --> 01:26.000] Maybe I don't want to learn the truth.
[01:28.000 --> 01:29.000] Dead.
[01:30.000 --> 01:31.000] The truth will set you free.
[01:32.000 --> 01:34.000] But first it'll piss you off.
[01:37.000 --> 01:39.000] Well, then maybe your new nickname should be the truth.
[01:42.000 --> 01:45.000] Well, I can't be your mentor without occasionally being your tall mentor.
[01:46.000 --> 01:47.000] Ooh, I like that.
[01:48.000 --> 01:49.000] I knew you would.
[01:50.000 --> 01:52.000] Let's get started, shall we?
[01:53.000 --> 01:54.000] Yes, ma'am.
[02:20.000 --> 02:29.000] Oh, welcome to another episode of the revisited podcast.
[02:30.000 --> 02:31.000] I'm Ben.
[02:31.000 --> 02:32.000] And I'm Kristin.
[02:33.000 --> 02:37.000] This week we are covering Ted Lasso season two, episode seven,
[02:38.000 --> 02:39.000] Headspace.
[02:40.000 --> 02:41.000] Because you're a head case.
[02:43.000 --> 02:44.000] You know, what's funny is I've.
[02:44.000 --> 02:47.000] For like the past, since we start dove into like season two,
[02:48.000 --> 02:50.000] I've been watching a couple episodes ahead every week.
[02:51.000 --> 02:52.000] I can't do it.
[02:53.000 --> 02:54.000] I stopped.
[02:54.000 --> 02:57.000] So this week was finally the first week where I was like, okay,
[02:58.000 --> 02:59.000] I'm not going to watch ahead.
[02:59.000 --> 03:01.000] I'm just going to watch the episode we're recording on.
[03:02.000 --> 03:03.000] And then that's it.
[03:04.000 --> 03:05.000] Because for the past couple of weeks,
[03:05.000 --> 03:07.000] I would watch the episode we were recording on and then I would
[03:07.000 --> 03:09.000] watch ahead like the next episode.
[03:10.000 --> 03:13.000] And this week I'm like, so no, actually it was last week was the
[03:13.000 --> 03:14.000] episode.
[03:14.000 --> 03:17.000] I finally stopped watching ahead so that this week was like the
[03:17.000 --> 03:20.000] first time I was rewatching this episode,
[03:20.000 --> 03:22.000] which is going to make things very interesting when we get to season
[03:22.000 --> 03:25.000] three, because I've not really watched season three at all.
[03:26.000 --> 03:27.000] Not even a little bit.
[03:27.000 --> 03:28.000] So that's since it since it aired.
[03:28.000 --> 03:29.000] Yeah.
[03:29.000 --> 03:30.000] Then it's episode eight.
[03:32.000 --> 03:36.000] Is episode eight beard after hours or after hours?
[03:36.000 --> 03:37.000] Man City comes first.
[03:38.000 --> 03:39.000] Oh, that's right.
[03:39.000 --> 03:40.000] That's right.
[03:40.000 --> 03:42.000] So I think next episode is Man City and then beard.
[03:43.000 --> 03:46.000] And then beard after hours and then.
[03:48.000 --> 03:49.000] It is.
[03:49.000 --> 03:52.000] Oh, what is the name of that episode?
[03:55.000 --> 03:56.000] It's the.
[03:56.000 --> 03:59.000] I don't want to say too much for people that are watching,
[03:59.000 --> 04:01.000] but I'll just say it's the funeral episode.
[04:03.000 --> 04:04.000] Yeah, it's yeah.
[04:04.000 --> 04:07.000] Next episode is Man City beard after hours is episode nine and
[04:07.000 --> 04:10.000] then no weddings in a funeral is episode 10.
[04:11.000 --> 04:12.000] Okay.
[04:13.000 --> 04:16.000] That's where I made the never going to give you up reference last week.
[04:16.000 --> 04:18.000] Never going to give you up.
[04:18.000 --> 04:23.000] There is the fattest bird on a wire outside my window right now.
[04:23.000 --> 04:24.000] Holy cow.
[04:24.000 --> 04:26.000] Like, no, he landed on the, on the wire.
[04:26.000 --> 04:29.000] It's very top wire and the whole thing's sagged down.
[04:30.000 --> 04:32.000] Does that bird on a wire start Goldie Hawn and.
[04:32.000 --> 04:33.000] Shut up.
[04:33.000 --> 04:34.000] The minute I said it.
[04:34.000 --> 04:35.000] I said it.
[04:39.000 --> 04:41.000] I knew we're going to be an ass.
[04:46.000 --> 04:47.000] Oh, was I wrong?
[04:47.000 --> 04:48.000] No.
[04:48.000 --> 04:50.000] No, I was, I was an asshole.
[04:50.000 --> 04:51.000] Sorry.
[04:51.000 --> 04:52.000] Don't be a Nate about it.
[04:53.000 --> 04:55.000] Hey, I know that's, that's mean.
[04:55.000 --> 04:57.000] That's just straight up mean after this episode.
[04:57.000 --> 04:58.000] That is very mean.
[04:58.000 --> 04:59.000] I know.
[04:59.000 --> 05:00.000] And I didn't mean it.
[05:00.000 --> 05:01.000] I'm sorry.
[05:01.000 --> 05:02.000] Forgive me.
[05:03.000 --> 05:04.000] So last week.
[05:04.000 --> 05:05.000] Forgive me.
[05:05.000 --> 05:06.000] You're forgiven.
[05:06.000 --> 05:07.000] Thank you.
[05:08.000 --> 05:10.000] So last week we did.
[05:10.000 --> 05:13.000] We, we spent a lot of time together last week.
[05:13.000 --> 05:14.000] Oh my gosh.
[05:14.000 --> 05:16.000] We recorded Ted lasso.
[05:16.000 --> 05:20.000] And then we recorded will Helms best our favorites of 2023
[05:20.000 --> 05:25.000] episode, which clocked in at three hours and four minutes.
[05:25.000 --> 05:26.000] I.
[05:26.000 --> 05:29.000] That means you didn't even edit anything.
[05:29.000 --> 05:30.000] Oh, no, no, I did.
[05:30.000 --> 05:31.000] I did.
[05:31.000 --> 05:34.000] It took a lot of editing because for those of you listening to this
[05:34.000 --> 05:38.000] podcast, who didn't listen to that one, you and Brandy both dropped
[05:38.000 --> 05:40.000] out like a number of times.
[05:40.000 --> 05:41.000] No, I know.
[05:41.000 --> 05:43.000] Well, we had some weather.
[05:44.000 --> 05:46.000] Which made my.
[05:47.000 --> 05:50.000] Made my editing fun.
[05:51.000 --> 05:53.000] Just put it that way.
[05:54.000 --> 05:56.000] And then I had to do the post credit, which is where all the
[05:56.000 --> 05:57.000] feedback comes in.
[05:57.000 --> 05:59.000] That was about 20 minutes.
[05:59.000 --> 06:01.000] So our portion.
[06:01.000 --> 06:03.000] Thank you for not having us do it.
[06:03.000 --> 06:06.000] I really appreciate that because by the end of that recording,
[06:06.000 --> 06:07.000] I was like, I got to go.
[06:07.000 --> 06:08.000] Yeah.
[06:08.000 --> 06:09.000] I have to go.
[06:09.000 --> 06:11.000] I cannot be here anymore.
[06:11.000 --> 06:14.000] But even the recording with me, you and Brandy was like two hours
[06:14.000 --> 06:15.000] and 40 minutes.
[06:16.000 --> 06:18.000] But it was a, it was a lot of fun.
[06:18.000 --> 06:19.000] It was so fun.
[06:19.000 --> 06:20.000] It was so fun.
[06:20.000 --> 06:22.000] I enjoy Brandy so much.
[06:22.000 --> 06:24.000] I knew you two would get along.
[06:24.000 --> 06:26.000] That's one of the reasons I was glad you two were on that
[06:26.000 --> 06:27.000] one.
[06:27.000 --> 06:32.000] You edit ballads of songbirds and snakes before or after you
[06:32.000 --> 06:33.000] watched the movie.
[06:33.000 --> 06:36.000] I it's in the, it's still in the podcast.
[06:36.000 --> 06:39.000] I did not listen to it as I was editing it.
[06:40.000 --> 06:44.000] So I still have no idea what you and Brandy were even
[06:44.000 --> 06:46.000] talking about during that portion.
[06:46.000 --> 06:47.000] I'll tell you.
[06:47.000 --> 06:48.000] Yeah.
[06:48.000 --> 06:50.000] So for people listening when we did the, because I know there
[06:50.000 --> 06:52.000] are a couple of revisited listeners who actually listened to
[06:52.000 --> 06:55.000] that episode because they messaged me and told me.
[06:55.000 --> 07:00.000] But Kristen and Brandy had both, I had never, I had yet to
[07:00.000 --> 07:04.000] have seen Hunger Games ballads of songbirds and snakes yet.
[07:04.000 --> 07:07.000] Even though it was assigned to me by Kristen for movie swap,
[07:07.000 --> 07:10.000] which we're going to be recording after we record this.
[07:11.000 --> 07:13.000] And they wanted to talk about it.
[07:13.000 --> 07:15.000] So there was so bad.
[07:15.000 --> 07:18.000] There was legitimately a point in the recording where even
[07:18.000 --> 07:23.000] though I'm the host, I took my headphones off and let you
[07:24.000 --> 07:26.000] two talk for like five or six minutes.
[07:26.000 --> 07:27.000] It was awesome.
[07:27.000 --> 07:30.000] And I still haven't gone back and listened to that portion.
[07:30.000 --> 07:32.000] So you can tell me about it in movie swap.
[07:32.000 --> 07:33.000] I will.
[07:33.000 --> 07:36.000] When we talk about it, but let's talk about Lasso.
[07:37.000 --> 07:40.000] For those of you that are on your first watch, as per usual,
[07:40.000 --> 07:43.000] we may not have a spoiler section this episode.
[07:43.000 --> 07:44.000] I don't know.
[07:44.000 --> 07:47.000] I don't know if there's a lot we have to bring up, but just
[07:47.000 --> 07:50.000] in case we do make sure you check the show notes and
[07:50.000 --> 07:53.000] you'll know where to the portion of this episode to skip if
[07:53.000 --> 07:54.000] you don't want any spoilers.
[07:55.000 --> 07:59.000] But let's dive in episode seven headspace of the second
[07:59.000 --> 08:00.000] season.
[08:01.000 --> 08:02.000] Where do you want to start?
[08:05.000 --> 08:10.000] Well, gosh, so many different places.
[08:10.000 --> 08:14.000] So first of all, I just want to say I love this episode so
[08:14.000 --> 08:15.000] much.
[08:15.000 --> 08:20.000] I love that we kind of take a break from the games and just
[08:20.000 --> 08:25.000] the overall plot of Ted Lasso and we kind of dig into the
[08:25.000 --> 08:27.000] characters a little bit of this episode.
[08:27.000 --> 08:31.000] And I am a very character driven television and movie
[08:31.000 --> 08:34.000] watcher. So episodes like this are my jam.
[08:37.000 --> 08:41.000] We might have one spoiler now that I think about it because
[08:42.000 --> 08:47.000] it's because this is very Ted therapy centric and anybody
[08:47.000 --> 08:51.000] that has watched the show knows why Ted.
[08:51.000 --> 08:56.000] Well, not we don't know why at this point why Ted is
[08:56.000 --> 09:00.000] upset because Ted doesn't even know why he's upset about
[09:00.000 --> 09:03.000] therapy. All he knows is that he hates therapy and it
[09:03.000 --> 09:07.000] is probably linked to the therapy that he had with
[09:07.000 --> 09:08.000] Michelle.
[09:09.000 --> 09:11.000] Well, I think it's absolutely linked to the therapy
[09:11.000 --> 09:12.000] out of the shell.
[09:12.000 --> 09:16.000] What I'm saying is right now right now it's we
[09:16.000 --> 09:20.000] haven't we have the big reveal hasn't happened.
[09:20.000 --> 09:23.000] No, but I'm even saying I think even at this point
[09:23.000 --> 09:26.000] Ted still does believe because he does say something
[09:26.000 --> 09:29.000] to Dr. Sharon later where he says like I have when
[09:29.000 --> 09:32.000] they were talking about having therapy before he's
[09:32.000 --> 09:34.000] like yeah he's like and look and now I'm here in
[09:34.000 --> 09:36.000] London while my wife is at home.
[09:36.000 --> 09:37.000] Look how well that turned out.
[09:38.000 --> 09:40.000] I think he absolutely blames therapy on the loss of
[09:40.000 --> 09:41.000] his marriage.
[09:41.000 --> 09:44.000] Well, he doesn't know how much therapy is to blame.
[09:44.000 --> 09:46.000] That's that's my point.
[09:46.000 --> 09:50.000] He does my point and he's already made the comment
[09:50.000 --> 09:52.000] and you can edit this out if he hasn't made the
[09:52.000 --> 09:54.000] comment because I'm pretty sure he's made the
[09:54.000 --> 09:55.000] comment that
[09:56.000 --> 09:59.000] that it wasn't their therapist.
[09:59.000 --> 10:00.000] It was her therapist.
[10:00.000 --> 10:01.000] He's already said that.
[10:01.000 --> 10:02.000] Yeah. Okay. Good.
[10:02.000 --> 10:06.000] So he he already felt like he was sitting down
[10:07.000 --> 10:10.000] and to like the middle of the conversation.
[10:10.000 --> 10:14.000] So he never really felt like it was about his
[10:14.000 --> 10:17.000] marriage as much as it was about how to quote
[10:17.000 --> 10:19.000] unquote fix Ted.
[10:19.000 --> 10:22.000] Well, he says that earlier on and he that he
[10:22.000 --> 10:25.000] felt like it was because it was a therapist that
[10:25.000 --> 10:26.000] Michelle was already seeing.
[10:26.000 --> 10:27.000] Right.
[10:27.000 --> 10:30.000] He felt like he was being railroaded.
[10:30.000 --> 10:31.000] Which he was.
[10:31.000 --> 10:32.000] Absolutely.
[10:32.000 --> 10:34.000] You know, I mean, he absolutely was.
[10:34.000 --> 10:39.000] Even the thing is, is that unless you can't
[10:39.000 --> 10:42.000] have a personal therapist and a marriage therapist,
[10:42.000 --> 10:43.000] you just can't.
[10:43.000 --> 10:44.000] Right.
[10:44.000 --> 10:47.000] If you want to bring your husband in or your spouse
[10:47.000 --> 10:50.000] in on a therapy session that is directed towards
[10:50.000 --> 10:53.000] the patient themselves, that's different.
[10:53.000 --> 10:56.000] But like, hey, we've been talking a lot about
[10:56.000 --> 10:57.000] this.
[10:57.000 --> 10:59.000] We wanted to bring you in and just get your
[10:59.000 --> 11:00.000] take on it.
[11:00.000 --> 11:01.000] Right.
[11:01.000 --> 11:02.000] That's fine.
[11:02.000 --> 11:05.000] You can't say, OK, I've been treating this
[11:05.000 --> 11:09.000] person for six months and now we're going to
[11:09.000 --> 11:10.000] treat the both of you.
[11:10.000 --> 11:12.000] That doesn't work unless you've also been
[11:12.000 --> 11:14.000] treating the other person for the
[11:14.000 --> 11:17.000] Yeah, because because as much as they're not
[11:17.000 --> 11:19.000] supposed to, at that point, the therapist
[11:19.000 --> 11:20.000] are going in with a bias.
[11:20.000 --> 11:21.000] Yeah, exactly.
[11:21.000 --> 11:23.000] That was exactly the word I was going for.
[11:23.000 --> 11:24.000] One hundred percent.
[11:24.000 --> 11:26.000] You've already developed a bias.
[11:26.000 --> 11:28.000] So with that kind of history that we know
[11:28.000 --> 11:32.000] that he has with therapy,
[11:32.000 --> 11:36.000] his anger is somewhat justified.
[11:36.000 --> 11:41.000] Now, the things that he says to Sharon is awful
[11:41.000 --> 11:45.000] in that second that second go around.
[11:45.000 --> 11:48.000] And Sharon was very honest with him when
[11:48.000 --> 11:50.000] he came back for the third time.
[11:50.000 --> 11:52.000] You know, she's just like what you said
[11:52.000 --> 11:55.000] was really insulting and it hurt my feelings.
[11:55.000 --> 11:57.000] You know, and I think that Sharon
[11:57.000 --> 11:59.000] understands that she needs to be just as
[11:59.000 --> 12:04.000] honest with Ted if she wants Ted to be honest with her.
[12:04.000 --> 12:07.000] Yeah.
[12:07.000 --> 12:10.000] She she drops her professionalism with him
[12:10.000 --> 12:11.000] in the session.
[12:11.000 --> 12:13.000] Have you noticed that in the third session?
[12:13.000 --> 12:14.000] Yeah. Yeah.
[12:14.000 --> 12:16.000] I think that she finally has it figured out
[12:16.000 --> 12:20.000] that she needs to she needs to share a
[12:20.000 --> 12:23.000] little to get anything back from him.
[12:23.000 --> 12:27.000] Well, because and yeah, because at that point,
[12:27.000 --> 12:30.000] Ted has already gone in with a bias as well.
[12:30.000 --> 12:32.000] And that therapy is useless.
[12:32.000 --> 12:35.000] And it it just does more damage than good.
[12:35.000 --> 12:38.000] And yeah, Dr. Sharon realizes at that point.
[12:38.000 --> 12:40.000] And that just shows goes to show you how
[12:40.000 --> 12:43.000] great of a therapist she really is.
[12:43.000 --> 12:44.000] Yeah.
[12:44.000 --> 12:46.000] Yeah. She needs to share in order to get
[12:46.000 --> 12:47.000] some sharing in return.
[12:47.000 --> 12:49.000] And I think that a lot of that has to do
[12:49.000 --> 12:52.000] with the fact that she is used to treating
[12:53.000 --> 12:57.000] football players and they're already very like macho.
[12:57.000 --> 12:59.000] And so she doesn't have to get too personal with them
[12:59.000 --> 13:02.000] because they don't really want to get personal with with her.
[13:02.000 --> 13:04.000] But Ted's different.
[13:04.000 --> 13:07.000] You know, Ted is from Midwest America.
[13:07.000 --> 13:10.000] OK, those people are kind.
[13:10.000 --> 13:15.000] They're self-effacing and they they want to know
[13:15.000 --> 13:19.000] you as much as you want to know them.
[13:19.000 --> 13:21.000] Well, not only that, but if you look at Ted,
[13:21.000 --> 13:23.000] overall, since the very beginning of this season,
[13:23.000 --> 13:26.000] Ted is a very open person with everybody.
[13:26.000 --> 13:28.000] His life is pretty much an open book.
[13:28.000 --> 13:29.000] Yeah.
[13:29.000 --> 13:31.000] Except when it comes to Dr. Sharon,
[13:31.000 --> 13:35.000] that is the comes to his personal personal life.
[13:35.000 --> 13:36.000] Well.
[13:37.000 --> 13:39.000] Yeah, I think yes and no,
[13:39.000 --> 13:41.000] I think there's some things in his personal life
[13:41.000 --> 13:42.000] he's been open about.
[13:42.000 --> 13:45.000] But yes, there are some things he does keep
[13:45.000 --> 13:46.000] very close to the chest.
[13:46.000 --> 13:49.000] And that is in particular things with his marriage.
[13:49.000 --> 13:51.000] And that's what Sharon wants to talk about.
[13:51.000 --> 13:52.000] Yeah.
[13:52.000 --> 13:55.000] And the only person I think he's ever been open with
[13:55.000 --> 13:58.000] about that before this is Beard.
[13:58.000 --> 14:01.000] And I think he's been open with Rebecca.
[14:01.000 --> 14:04.000] I do think he's been open with Rebecca as well.
[14:04.000 --> 14:08.000] But I mean, like even pre I'm talking pre Richmond.
[14:08.000 --> 14:09.000] Oh, OK.
[14:09.000 --> 14:11.000] I think Beard is really probably the only person
[14:11.000 --> 14:13.000] he's even been open with it about.
[14:13.000 --> 14:16.000] And even then I kind of question it because sometimes as a guy,
[14:17.000 --> 14:20.000] I know we don't always share those intimate details with each other.
[14:20.000 --> 14:21.000] Right.
[14:21.000 --> 14:23.000] We know that there's something going on.
[14:23.000 --> 14:25.000] We take in the bare minimum that we need to know.
[14:25.000 --> 14:27.000] And then that's pretty much it.
[14:27.000 --> 14:30.000] You know, so I think Beard isn't aware that there are issues,
[14:30.000 --> 14:32.000] but he doesn't question them.
[14:32.000 --> 14:33.000] Right.
[14:33.000 --> 14:36.000] It's not until he comes to AFC Richmond and he befriends Rebecca
[14:36.000 --> 14:39.000] and now Dr. Sharon is involved.
[14:39.000 --> 14:42.000] Then now he has he's kind of being forced to open up
[14:42.000 --> 14:45.000] about everything, which I'm not saying is a bad thing.
[14:45.000 --> 14:48.000] It's it's very much needed for Ted at this point.
[14:48.000 --> 14:51.000] He needs it more more than he will ever know.
[14:52.000 --> 14:55.000] But he is so resistant to it.
[14:55.000 --> 14:59.000] And Sharon is a magician.
[15:00.000 --> 15:05.000] And she's at least able to understand that it's going to take a couple
[15:05.000 --> 15:07.000] of tries to get him in the door.
[15:08.000 --> 15:12.000] And I love that third session so much,
[15:12.000 --> 15:17.000] especially when he throws the tissues across the room.
[15:17.000 --> 15:20.000] He's like, no, no, not going to need him.
[15:20.000 --> 15:21.000] Yeah.
[15:21.000 --> 15:24.000] And I love the look on Dr. Sharon's face when he does it.
[15:24.000 --> 15:25.000] Yeah.
[15:25.000 --> 15:26.000] She was like, all right.
[15:26.000 --> 15:28.000] Like, yeah, she's amused by it.
[15:28.000 --> 15:31.000] You know, it's like they they really have they have their own
[15:31.000 --> 15:33.000] breakthrough with each other in that third session,
[15:33.000 --> 15:36.000] which is really nice because I think that Sharon needs Ted too.
[15:36.000 --> 15:37.000] I do too.
[15:38.000 --> 15:41.000] Well, there's a there's a great moment coming up a little bit
[15:41.000 --> 15:44.000] later on. And I can't remember if it's next episode before man.
[15:44.000 --> 15:45.000] They've been to the hospital yet.
[15:45.000 --> 15:47.000] No, that's the next one.
[15:47.000 --> 15:48.000] This is next episode.
[15:48.000 --> 15:49.000] Man City.
[15:49.000 --> 15:50.000] Man City. Yep.
[15:50.000 --> 15:51.000] Yep.
[15:51.000 --> 15:52.000] I love.
[15:52.000 --> 15:54.000] I love every part of that.
[15:54.000 --> 15:56.000] There is there are so many great moments.
[15:56.000 --> 15:59.000] Man City is just a great episode.
[15:59.000 --> 16:00.000] Yeah.
[16:00.000 --> 16:05.000] For for Roy, for Jamie, for Ted, for Jamie.
[16:05.000 --> 16:06.000] Yeah.
[16:06.000 --> 16:09.000] There's some great stuff coming up next episode that I can't wait
[16:09.000 --> 16:10.000] to talk about.
[16:11.000 --> 16:13.000] But yeah, like there's this breakthrough.
[16:13.000 --> 16:17.000] But I want to go back to what you said about how Ted was very
[16:17.000 --> 16:20.000] like very mean and the way he was in that second section,
[16:20.000 --> 16:23.000] that second session talking to Dr. Sharon.
[16:23.000 --> 16:27.000] And I do think though that there is one thing he says in there
[16:27.000 --> 16:30.000] that he does make a very valid point.
[16:30.000 --> 16:32.000] And I think it kind of throws Dr.
[16:32.000 --> 16:35.000] Sharon for a moment until she realizes that is because what
[16:35.000 --> 16:36.000] he does say to Dr.
[16:36.000 --> 16:39.000] Sharon is very insulting like about her job.
[16:39.000 --> 16:42.000] Gosh, the whole time I'm like, stop talking.
[16:42.000 --> 16:45.000] But he does make a valid point in that she charges by the
[16:45.000 --> 16:50.000] hour but only does 50 minutes of of therapy.
[16:50.000 --> 16:53.000] Like I was like when he said that like the whole time I'm
[16:53.000 --> 16:56.000] listening to this, I'm like, man, you are being insulting.
[16:56.000 --> 16:59.000] But you kind of have a point with that one.
[16:59.000 --> 17:04.000] Not really because there is notes time that she has to do
[17:04.000 --> 17:06.000] when he leaves.
[17:06.000 --> 17:07.000] Okay.
[17:07.000 --> 17:08.000] All right.
[17:08.000 --> 17:09.000] Fair enough.
[17:09.000 --> 17:11.000] And she's probably doing a lot more than 10 minutes of
[17:11.000 --> 17:15.000] notes and yeah, dictation and all that other stuff that
[17:15.000 --> 17:17.000] she needs to do.
[17:17.000 --> 17:18.000] Yeah.
[17:18.000 --> 17:19.000] But I mean, you're right.
[17:19.000 --> 17:21.000] Like I'm glad you started with this because I think this is
[17:21.000 --> 17:23.000] probably one of the most poignant things that happen
[17:23.000 --> 17:27.000] in this episode is by the end of this episode,
[17:27.000 --> 17:29.000] there is a breakthrough with Ted.
[17:29.000 --> 17:30.000] And like you said with Dr.
[17:30.000 --> 17:32.000] Sharon as well.
[17:32.000 --> 17:34.000] But Ted, I think is the biggest one.
[17:34.000 --> 17:35.000] Ted has this.
[17:35.000 --> 17:37.000] There's a major breakthrough.
[17:37.000 --> 17:41.000] He's been very hesitant to therapy this entire time.
[17:41.000 --> 17:44.000] He's made it very known what he thinks of therapy to
[17:44.000 --> 17:45.000] everybody.
[17:45.000 --> 17:48.000] And by the end of this for him to be sitting face to
[17:48.000 --> 17:49.000] face with Dr.
[17:49.000 --> 17:54.000] Sharon, tossing the tissues behind him and finally
[17:54.000 --> 17:59.000] accepting this as one, this is something that he needs
[17:59.000 --> 18:03.000] and two, this is something that he's going to allow.
[18:03.000 --> 18:04.000] Right.
[18:04.000 --> 18:06.000] Well, I really like it.
[18:06.000 --> 18:10.000] I really like it when she turns it around on him when
[18:10.000 --> 18:12.000] she says, would you coach for free?
[18:12.000 --> 18:13.000] Yes.
[18:13.000 --> 18:14.000] Okay.
[18:14.000 --> 18:15.000] But you're not.
[18:15.000 --> 18:16.000] No.
[18:16.000 --> 18:17.000] Okay.
[18:17.000 --> 18:18.000] And you want to get to know your players.
[18:18.000 --> 18:20.000] That's very important to you.
[18:20.000 --> 18:22.000] Just because you're getting paid doesn't mean that
[18:22.000 --> 18:23.000] you don't care.
[18:23.000 --> 18:24.000] Right.
[18:24.000 --> 18:26.000] You still care about your players even though you're
[18:26.000 --> 18:27.000] getting paid.
[18:27.000 --> 18:30.000] So the way that she turned that around and she made
[18:30.000 --> 18:33.000] that point, I thought was really good because if you
[18:33.000 --> 18:37.000] could turn it around on Ted, Ted listens to that.
[18:37.000 --> 18:40.000] It's interesting that he he's like, you know what,
[18:40.000 --> 18:41.000] you're right.
[18:41.000 --> 18:43.000] And he's so good at admitting that he's wrong,
[18:43.000 --> 18:44.000] which I think is wonder.
[18:44.000 --> 18:47.000] It's a really good trait for him.
[18:47.000 --> 18:52.000] But Sharon says my favorite quote of the entire
[18:52.000 --> 18:55.000] episode was I can't be your mentor without
[18:55.000 --> 18:57.000] occasionally being your tormentor.
[18:57.000 --> 19:02.000] And that just struck a chord with me because I feel that way
[19:02.000 --> 19:05.000] with teaching a lot too, you know,
[19:05.000 --> 19:09.000] because you get all those resistant kids that don't
[19:09.000 --> 19:11.000] want your help, that don't think they need your help.
[19:11.000 --> 19:13.000] But when they finally give in and they,
[19:13.000 --> 19:16.000] and they accept what you're trying to do for them,
[19:16.000 --> 19:18.000] they let you in, you know,
[19:18.000 --> 19:22.000] and I imagine that it's the same when your
[19:22.000 --> 19:24.000] profession is a therapist.
[19:24.000 --> 19:25.000] Yeah.
[19:25.000 --> 19:26.000] Psychologist, psychiatrist.
[19:26.000 --> 19:28.000] I don't know what she is.
[19:28.000 --> 19:29.000] I don't know.
[19:29.000 --> 19:31.000] She can prescribe medicine, whatever.
[19:31.000 --> 19:33.000] But is that the difference between a psychologist
[19:33.000 --> 19:34.000] and a therapist?
[19:34.000 --> 19:36.000] A psychiatrist and a psychologist.
[19:36.000 --> 19:37.000] Yeah.
[19:37.000 --> 19:43.000] I think a psychiatrist can prescribe medicine.
[19:43.000 --> 19:47.000] And I'm pro if you're a psychologist or a psychiatrist
[19:47.000 --> 19:50.000] and I'm wrong, like, please let me know.
[19:50.000 --> 19:53.000] Because I've always been confused with the
[19:53.000 --> 19:54.000] difference as well.
[19:54.000 --> 19:58.000] And if it's the ability to the ability to prescribe
[19:58.000 --> 20:00.000] medication makes a lot of sense.
[20:00.000 --> 20:01.000] Right.
[20:01.000 --> 20:02.000] Yeah.
[20:02.000 --> 20:03.000] And that being the difference.
[20:03.000 --> 20:05.000] And then at the end of Ted's little, you know,
[20:05.000 --> 20:08.000] breakthrough when he's on the right path with Sharon
[20:08.000 --> 20:11.000] and he's having a beer and some dinner,
[20:11.000 --> 20:14.000] who arrives, who shows up after a couple of
[20:14.000 --> 20:16.000] episodes of not seeing him?
[20:16.000 --> 20:17.000] Trent Krim.
[20:17.000 --> 20:20.000] Our boy, our friend, Trent Krim from The Independent.
[20:20.000 --> 20:21.000] Yep.
[20:21.000 --> 20:23.000] And he reminds him that, you know,
[20:23.000 --> 20:26.000] not everybody believes that you had food poisoning, bro.
[20:26.000 --> 20:28.000] So I'm glad you brought this up because there was
[20:28.000 --> 20:30.000] something in the back of my mind that I was like,
[20:30.000 --> 20:32.000] I feel like there's something I want to talk about
[20:32.000 --> 20:35.000] in spoilers, but I can't remember what it was.
[20:35.000 --> 20:36.000] You just reminded me.
[20:36.000 --> 20:37.000] I know what it is, too.
[20:37.000 --> 20:40.000] There is stuff we need to talk about with Trent Krim.
[20:40.000 --> 20:42.000] I know what it is.
[20:42.000 --> 20:43.000] In the spoiler section.
[20:43.000 --> 20:44.000] So we are.
[20:44.000 --> 20:45.000] So there will be a spoiler.
[20:45.000 --> 20:47.000] It won't be a long spoiler section,
[20:47.000 --> 20:49.000] but there will be a little bit of spoilers
[20:49.000 --> 20:50.000] discussion a little bit later on.
[20:50.000 --> 20:51.000] Because you're right.
[20:51.000 --> 20:54.000] I was so excited because I forgot until,
[20:54.000 --> 20:56.000] until I saw him this episode,
[20:56.000 --> 21:01.000] I forgot we haven't seen Trent since the beginning of the season.
[21:01.000 --> 21:02.000] Yeah.
[21:02.000 --> 21:07.000] It's been easily four, five, six episodes since we've seen Trent.
[21:07.000 --> 21:11.000] So I'm I and I got him so much.
[21:11.000 --> 21:13.000] I got excited when I saw Trent.
[21:13.000 --> 21:15.000] I love him so much.
[21:15.000 --> 21:19.000] Because he is Trent Krim is such a great character.
[21:19.000 --> 21:25.000] And I'm not spoiling anything by saying he is a huge character in season
[21:25.000 --> 21:26.000] three.
[21:26.000 --> 21:28.000] He is such a big character.
[21:28.000 --> 21:29.000] And I just love him.
[21:29.000 --> 21:31.000] So can we just get to season three, please?
[21:31.000 --> 21:37.000] So much Trent Krim becomes like it's it's it's it's like when you're
[21:37.000 --> 21:40.000] watching a show and you see like this secondary character and then
[21:40.000 --> 21:44.000] all of a sudden you see that they get bumped from secondary to main
[21:44.000 --> 21:46.000] character in the credits.
[21:46.000 --> 21:49.000] Trent Krim becomes a main character.
[21:49.000 --> 21:52.000] It's kind of like Andy Dwyer with a wreck.
[21:52.000 --> 21:53.000] Yeah.
[21:53.000 --> 21:54.000] Yeah.
[21:54.000 --> 21:55.000] Yeah.
[21:55.000 --> 21:56.000] Yeah.
[21:56.000 --> 21:58.000] And Andy becomes one of the main characters in Parks and Rec later on
[21:58.000 --> 21:59.000] later.
[21:59.000 --> 22:02.000] I think season two and beyond because season one,
[22:02.000 --> 22:04.000] I think he was just he was a guest star.
[22:04.000 --> 22:06.000] I don't even think he was supposed to continue.
[22:06.000 --> 22:07.000] No.
[22:07.000 --> 22:10.000] I think he was supposed to like once Ann and Chris broke up or
[22:10.000 --> 22:12.000] once Ann and Andy broke up,
[22:12.000 --> 22:14.000] he was supposed to be done.
[22:15.000 --> 22:17.000] And then they brought him Andy forever.
[22:17.000 --> 22:18.000] Yeah.
[22:18.000 --> 22:19.000] For sure.
[22:19.000 --> 22:20.000] Anyways.
[22:20.000 --> 22:21.000] Yeah.
[22:21.000 --> 22:23.000] Trent Krim in season three is just it's so good.
[22:23.000 --> 22:24.000] I can't.
[22:24.000 --> 22:25.000] Yeah.
[22:25.000 --> 22:28.000] But yeah, like you mentioned like that second session going back
[22:28.000 --> 22:31.000] to the second session with Ted and Dr. Sharon, you know,
[22:31.000 --> 22:33.000] I made that thing where I thought it was kind of a valid point.
[22:33.000 --> 22:36.000] And then you kind of showed me how how it really isn't.
[22:36.000 --> 22:41.000] But also like the main the main insult of that whole
[22:41.000 --> 22:45.000] discussion and you kind of touched on it a little bit in
[22:45.000 --> 22:49.000] what Dr. Sharon says to Ted in the third session is basically
[22:49.000 --> 22:52.000] you think I don't care about my patients.
[22:52.000 --> 22:55.000] This is nothing more than just a job for me to just come in
[22:55.000 --> 22:59.000] talk, listen to people and then collect the paycheck.
[22:59.000 --> 23:00.000] Yeah.
[23:00.000 --> 23:01.000] You're absolutely right.
[23:01.000 --> 23:04.000] That is insulting for anybody.
[23:04.000 --> 23:05.000] Yeah.
[23:05.000 --> 23:08.000] You know, to think that somebody doesn't care about the job
[23:08.000 --> 23:09.000] they do, to look at it.
[23:09.000 --> 23:11.000] And that goes for any profession.
[23:11.000 --> 23:14.000] Yes, there are people out there that do a job just to get
[23:14.000 --> 23:17.000] a paycheck and don't really care about their job.
[23:17.000 --> 23:22.000] But you don't go through that amount of training to
[23:22.000 --> 23:24.000] become a therapist to not care.
[23:24.000 --> 23:25.000] Right.
[23:25.000 --> 23:26.000] 100 percent.
[23:26.000 --> 23:31.000] I think that's I was going to say something that was very
[23:31.000 --> 23:36.000] spoilery, but I'm not going to about another therapist.
[23:36.000 --> 23:37.000] Yeah.
[23:37.000 --> 23:39.000] But I won't bring that up.
[23:39.000 --> 23:44.000] So, yeah, I'm glad we started with all of the the Dr.
[23:44.000 --> 23:48.000] Sharon and Ted stuff because there's just so much more.
[23:48.000 --> 23:50.000] There's just so much stuff that comes.
[23:50.000 --> 23:54.000] And the awkwardness in that first session of you can see
[23:54.000 --> 23:59.000] like Ted is making an attempt to try and be a part of it.
[23:59.000 --> 24:02.000] Like he's trying to figure out where to sit, how to lie down
[24:02.000 --> 24:03.000] on the couch.
[24:03.000 --> 24:07.000] And then it's so uncomfortable.
[24:07.000 --> 24:08.000] Yes.
[24:08.000 --> 24:10.500] But and then like it's not until Dr.
[24:10.500 --> 24:13.000] Sharon asks the first question.
[24:13.000 --> 24:16.000] She says, like, how do you feel about all this?
[24:16.000 --> 24:19.000] And the moment that question comes up, he's like, nope,
[24:19.000 --> 24:20.000] I don't want to do this.
[24:20.000 --> 24:21.000] And he walks out of the office.
[24:21.000 --> 24:23.000] So angry, too.
[24:23.000 --> 24:26.000] He's so angry those first two sessions.
[24:26.000 --> 24:30.000] Well, because like the how do you feel it's that where it's
[24:30.000 --> 24:31.000] that verb.
[24:31.000 --> 24:35.000] It's the feel part the moment he feels that it becomes real.
[24:35.000 --> 24:38.000] Yeah, it's no longer just such something he's like toying
[24:38.000 --> 24:41.000] with the moment he's asked that question.
[24:41.000 --> 24:42.000] This is real now.
[24:42.000 --> 24:43.000] I don't want to deal with it.
[24:43.000 --> 24:44.000] I don't want to do it.
[24:44.000 --> 24:46.000] 100 percent, 100 percent.
[24:46.000 --> 24:47.000] And he walks out.
[24:47.000 --> 24:48.000] Yep.
[24:48.000 --> 24:49.000] So yeah, he does.
[24:49.000 --> 24:50.000] He does walk out.
[24:50.000 --> 24:52.000] He walks out twice.
[24:52.000 --> 24:55.000] And and you see how it affects him when he coaches.
[24:55.000 --> 24:58.000] You see how it affects him just kind of walking through life.
[24:58.000 --> 25:01.000] Like, and that's the same for like any any kind of therapy.
[25:01.000 --> 25:07.000] I mean, unfortunately, when when you need therapy,
[25:07.000 --> 25:09.000] it's going to get worse before it gets better.
[25:09.000 --> 25:14.000] Yeah, it just is because you're bringing up things.
[25:14.000 --> 25:16.000] It's kind of like when you.
[25:16.000 --> 25:17.000] How do I put it?
[25:17.000 --> 25:19.000] Like, if you have like an old bottle,
[25:19.000 --> 25:22.000] like if you have like some some kind of a bottle of wine
[25:22.000 --> 25:24.000] and they're sediment at the bottom of it,
[25:24.000 --> 25:30.000] like you need to shake that bottle up for that sediment to mix back in.
[25:30.000 --> 25:35.000] And it looks horrible until you start to drink the wine.
[25:35.000 --> 25:36.000] Yeah.
[25:36.000 --> 25:38.000] Or whatever it is that has sediment at the bottom.
[25:38.000 --> 25:40.000] Like it could be like a juice or something that has it.
[25:40.000 --> 25:41.000] Right.
[25:41.000 --> 25:42.000] You get the reference.
[25:42.000 --> 25:43.000] I do.
[25:43.000 --> 25:45.000] The reference I'm trying to make the analogy.
[25:45.000 --> 25:46.000] Yeah.
[25:46.000 --> 25:47.000] I'm trying.
[25:47.000 --> 25:48.000] Don't do it with champagne.
[25:48.000 --> 25:49.000] No.
[25:49.000 --> 25:51.000] No.
[25:51.000 --> 25:53.000] Especially if it's already been uncorked.
[25:53.000 --> 25:55.000] Yeah.
[25:55.000 --> 25:57.000] Because then that cork will just pop right back out.
[25:57.000 --> 25:59.000] It doesn't matter.
[25:59.000 --> 26:02.000] But yeah, you mentioned like how it kind of affects his coaching too.
[26:02.000 --> 26:06.000] And this kind of shifts into another point in like when there,
[26:06.000 --> 26:12.000] when Keely is having the discussion about Roy in Rebecca's
[26:12.000 --> 26:16.000] office with Rebecca and and Higgins and Ted and she's like,
[26:16.000 --> 26:20.000] is it okay to keep things bottled up and he Ted's one of the first
[26:20.000 --> 26:23.000] people that's like, yeah, that's okay to keep things.
[26:23.000 --> 26:26.000] Because that's what he's facing at that time is he just wants to keep
[26:26.000 --> 26:29.000] his emotions bottled and he doesn't want to face it.
[26:29.000 --> 26:32.000] He doesn't want to release all of this stuff because that's what
[26:32.000 --> 26:33.000] he's going through.
[26:33.000 --> 26:35.000] So it goes in.
[26:35.000 --> 26:37.000] It blends into that conversation.
[26:37.000 --> 26:40.000] And it's interesting too, because I guess like him being in
[26:40.000 --> 26:43.000] England, his job is 24 seven.
[26:43.000 --> 26:45.000] This job is 24 seven.
[26:45.000 --> 26:47.000] So he probably feels that he needs to keep everything all
[26:47.000 --> 26:50.000] bottled up because he wants to remain, you know,
[26:50.000 --> 26:53.000] coach 24 seven and he can't be himself.
[26:53.000 --> 26:56.000] So that has to be difficult as well.
[26:56.000 --> 26:57.000] Yeah.
[26:57.000 --> 26:58.000] Yeah.
[26:58.000 --> 27:00.000] Because even when he's, you're right.
[27:00.000 --> 27:05.000] Because even in moments, because he is a known person,
[27:05.000 --> 27:09.000] he is somebody who is recognized as the coach of AFC Richmond.
[27:09.000 --> 27:10.000] You're right.
[27:10.000 --> 27:12.000] That makes his job 24 seven.
[27:12.000 --> 27:13.000] Yeah.
[27:13.000 --> 27:15.000] Because even when he's at the pub eating,
[27:15.000 --> 27:17.000] he's approached by Trent crimp, right?
[27:17.000 --> 27:21.000] And he's questioned about something that pertains to the game.
[27:21.000 --> 27:23.000] And to him personally.
[27:23.000 --> 27:24.000] Yes.
[27:24.000 --> 27:28.000] You know, that can't be easy for anybody.
[27:28.000 --> 27:30.000] It's the price of fame, I guess.
[27:30.000 --> 27:31.000] Well, and let's,
[27:31.000 --> 27:35.000] let's pivot on the price of fame and talk about our friend Nate.
[27:35.000 --> 27:36.000] Oh boy.
[27:36.000 --> 27:37.000] Oh boy.
[27:37.000 --> 27:39.000] Let's talk about Nate.
[27:39.000 --> 27:40.000] Um,
[27:40.000 --> 27:43.000] it's been very interesting going back and doing a rewatch,
[27:43.000 --> 27:48.000] knowing what we know because for upon first view,
[27:48.000 --> 27:50.000] I think even upon, upon initial view of this,
[27:50.000 --> 27:53.000] I thought Nate was a Dick in this episode.
[27:53.000 --> 27:55.000] Oh, he was so awful.
[27:55.000 --> 27:58.000] And the things he said to Colin,
[27:58.000 --> 28:02.000] I was so glad I forgot that beard heard it.
[28:02.000 --> 28:04.000] And I was so glad when I saw a beard, I was like, okay, can,
[28:04.000 --> 28:06.000] can you, can you say something now?
[28:06.000 --> 28:09.000] You've watched him be an asshole now for like four episodes.
[28:09.000 --> 28:10.000] Is it time yet?
[28:10.000 --> 28:11.000] Beard.
[28:11.000 --> 28:14.000] Cause he waits cause he waits and he takes his time.
[28:14.000 --> 28:15.000] Yeah.
[28:15.000 --> 28:20.000] And, and the mystery of beard deepens in this episode only because I will,
[28:20.000 --> 28:23.000] I'll bring this up just cause it's a very quick moment.
[28:23.000 --> 28:27.000] But when Nate walks in and beard addresses him and tells him that he's
[28:27.000 --> 28:32.000] being a Dick, you know, to Colin Nate walks out and then immediately
[28:32.000 --> 28:35.000] turns around and beard is gone.
[28:35.000 --> 28:38.000] He says the door's behind you.
[28:38.000 --> 28:41.000] Nate Lee is like, okay, this is my office.
[28:41.000 --> 28:42.000] And he turns around.
[28:42.000 --> 28:43.000] Beard's gone.
[28:43.000 --> 28:44.000] Beard is gone.
[28:44.000 --> 28:47.000] He's just completely disappeared.
[28:47.000 --> 28:50.000] And there's a part of me that's hiding behind the door, right?
[28:50.000 --> 28:55.000] I was literally, there's a part of me that wants to believe that beard
[28:55.000 --> 28:59.000] just kind of hid under the desk just to fuck with Nate.
[28:59.000 --> 29:00.000] Yeah, maybe.
[29:00.000 --> 29:02.000] Because he would do it.
[29:02.000 --> 29:03.000] Yeah.
[29:03.000 --> 29:05.000] He would absolutely do it.
[29:06.000 --> 29:09.000] But yeah, the mystery of beard deepens in this.
[29:09.000 --> 29:13.000] He's just a figment of people's imagination at this point.
[29:13.000 --> 29:16.000] But yeah, like it's Nate.
[29:16.000 --> 29:19.000] It's such a roller coaster with Nate in this episode because we see
[29:19.000 --> 29:23.000] the way he treats Colin in the beginning of this episode.
[29:23.000 --> 29:26.000] Even later on into this episode, when he tells Colin,
[29:26.000 --> 29:31.000] he's nothing more than basically just somebody there to fill a spot.
[29:31.000 --> 29:34.000] He's, he's like a painting at the Holiday Inn.
[29:34.000 --> 29:36.000] What an asshole thing to say.
[29:36.000 --> 29:37.000] To cover a shit stain.
[29:37.000 --> 29:38.000] Yeah.
[29:38.000 --> 29:45.000] Like that's who, as a coach, who says that to a player?
[29:45.000 --> 29:46.000] He is awful.
[29:46.000 --> 29:47.000] He is awful.
[29:47.000 --> 29:53.000] And I kept, I kept pausing to see what, what it was.
[29:53.000 --> 29:55.000] Like Nate's just scrolling and scrolling and scrolling.
[29:55.000 --> 29:59.000] And then I realized he's key wording himself.
[29:59.000 --> 30:00.000] Yeah.
[30:00.000 --> 30:02.000] He's going on social and he's key wording himself.
[30:02.000 --> 30:04.000] He's key wording to the hashtags.
[30:04.000 --> 30:05.000] Right.
[30:05.000 --> 30:07.000] And he's just.
[30:07.000 --> 30:11.000] Drinking up his Kool-Aid deep until, as we all know,
[30:11.000 --> 30:14.000] especially as podcasters, you get a negative one.
[30:14.000 --> 30:15.000] Yeah.
[30:15.000 --> 30:19.000] And when you get a negative one, he goes off the fricking rails.
[30:19.000 --> 30:20.000] Well, even that, then that,
[30:20.000 --> 30:23.000] that's the point I was trying to get to is that like we get this
[30:23.000 --> 30:25.000] moment where.
[30:25.000 --> 30:27.000] When I say this is a roller coaster ride with Nate,
[30:27.000 --> 30:31.000] we're going down the hill with Nate being a total dick to Colin.
[30:31.000 --> 30:32.000] Mm-hmm.
[30:32.000 --> 30:35.000] Telling him how he's just a painting and a holiday and covering a shit
[30:35.000 --> 30:36.000] stain.
[30:36.000 --> 30:37.000] Yep.
[30:37.000 --> 30:40.000] And then beard confronts him, says something to him.
[30:40.000 --> 30:43.000] And the next thing we see on the pitch is he is apologizing to Colin.
[30:43.000 --> 30:48.000] And we're like, okay, maybe Nate is finally coming around until he's
[30:48.000 --> 30:53.000] scrolling through and he sees a tweet that says this guy is still a loser.
[30:53.000 --> 30:55.000] Well, cause he is.
[30:55.000 --> 31:00.000] And then he immediately goes off on will.
[31:01.000 --> 31:05.000] Which if I ever wanted to reach through.
[31:05.000 --> 31:08.000] A screen and punch a character.
[31:08.000 --> 31:13.000] It was this is because what the fuck will was doing will has been
[31:13.000 --> 31:19.000] nothing at this point, but someone who is just trying to lift these players.
[31:19.000 --> 31:21.000] Yeah, right.
[31:21.000 --> 31:23.000] So for you to turn on and see,
[31:23.000 --> 31:27.000] I think the worst part about it is for Nate is that with Will being
[31:27.000 --> 31:33.000] the new kit man, Nate is remembering how he was treated as a kit man by
[31:33.000 --> 31:36.000] Colin, by McAdoo, by Jamie.
[31:36.000 --> 31:39.000] And Will is accepted.
[31:39.000 --> 31:40.000] Yes.
[31:40.000 --> 31:44.000] He is reciprocating what he received.
[31:44.000 --> 31:47.000] And this is a different team.
[31:47.000 --> 31:48.000] It's a different Jamie.
[31:48.000 --> 31:49.000] Yeah.
[31:49.000 --> 31:51.000] Different Jamie, different McAdoo, different Colin.
[31:51.000 --> 31:53.000] They're all different.
[31:53.000 --> 31:54.000] Yeah.
[31:54.000 --> 31:56.000] And a lot of that is Dr. Sharon.
[31:56.000 --> 31:57.000] It's Ted.
[31:57.000 --> 31:58.000] It's Keely, right?
[31:58.000 --> 32:03.000] It's, you know, it's the fact that the culture in this team has changed so
[32:03.000 --> 32:06.000] much and Nate just hasn't,
[32:06.000 --> 32:11.000] he hasn't looked up from his phone long enough to see the changes and he
[32:11.000 --> 32:13.000] hasn't been changing along with the team.
[32:13.000 --> 32:15.000] He has stayed static.
[32:15.000 --> 32:17.000] He has stayed the same.
[32:17.000 --> 32:18.000] Yeah.
[32:18.000 --> 32:22.000] And so as a result, he doesn't understand that the team is evolving.
[32:22.000 --> 32:24.000] And now that I think about it,
[32:24.000 --> 32:30.000] it seems that this entire episode is about evolving as a person, as a team,
[32:30.000 --> 32:36.000] whatever, because you have Rebecca and Sam trying to figure out how to push
[32:36.000 --> 32:40.000] through this new boundary that is trying to be broken.
[32:40.000 --> 32:45.000] You have Keely and Roy that are trying to evolve into a couple that is a
[32:45.000 --> 32:46.000] long-term couple.
[32:46.000 --> 32:48.000] And how do you figure that out?
[32:48.000 --> 32:54.000] You have Ted evolving and accepting therapy from Dr. Sharon.
[32:54.000 --> 32:58.000] You have a possible evolution from Trent Crim.
[32:58.000 --> 33:05.000] You have Jamie who is like a person.
[33:05.000 --> 33:09.000] Let me, can I just say, and we'll get to it when we,
[33:09.000 --> 33:12.000] when we get to the Roy and Keely stuff,
[33:12.000 --> 33:15.000] but the scene with Roy and Jamie on the pitch.
[33:15.000 --> 33:16.000] Hilarious.
[33:16.000 --> 33:17.000] Hilarious.
[33:17.000 --> 33:21.000] Is easily my favorite scene from this entire episode.
[33:21.000 --> 33:25.000] Anything that the two of them are doing together on the screen.
[33:25.000 --> 33:26.000] Yes, please.
[33:26.000 --> 33:27.000] It is.
[33:27.000 --> 33:28.000] All the time.
[33:28.000 --> 33:29.000] Thank you.
[33:29.000 --> 33:30.000] It is.
[33:30.000 --> 33:31.000] It is some of the most,
[33:31.000 --> 33:32.000] I'll save it for when we get to it because it's,
[33:32.000 --> 33:33.000] I love that scene so much.
[33:33.000 --> 33:35.000] But yeah, like I think you're right.
[33:35.000 --> 33:36.000] I think evolution is a big theme.
[33:36.000 --> 33:37.000] Yeah.
[33:37.000 --> 33:38.000] Of this episode.
[33:38.000 --> 33:40.000] Which makes sense because it's headspace and therapy.
[33:40.000 --> 33:42.000] We evolve and we change.
[33:42.000 --> 33:43.000] Yeah.
[33:43.000 --> 33:45.000] And who isn't getting therapy right now?
[33:45.000 --> 33:47.000] Who is not getting therapy?
[33:47.000 --> 33:48.000] Nate.
[33:48.000 --> 33:50.000] And well, and it's funny enough too.
[33:50.000 --> 33:52.000] Cause this is something that I realized in rewatching this episode too.
[33:52.000 --> 33:56.000] And similarly to lost when we talked about, you know,
[33:56.000 --> 33:57.000] covered the whole series of lost.
[33:57.000 --> 34:00.000] One of the biggest things of that was daddy issues.
[34:00.000 --> 34:03.000] And I think Nate has that as well,
[34:03.000 --> 34:05.000] because we see in the beginning of this episode,
[34:05.000 --> 34:10.000] he's he's trying so hard for his father to notice his accolades.
[34:10.000 --> 34:12.000] And when he does,
[34:12.000 --> 34:14.000] he just blows it off.
[34:14.000 --> 34:19.000] And I think, I, I think this is Nate is searching for approval from
[34:19.000 --> 34:22.000] everybody, including his own father.
[34:22.000 --> 34:23.000] But his father is actually,
[34:23.000 --> 34:28.000] I honestly don't think his father is being ignorant to his accolades.
[34:28.000 --> 34:30.000] I think his father is pretty much,
[34:30.000 --> 34:32.000] he doesn't want these accolades to go to his head.
[34:32.000 --> 34:34.000] And he knows that that's what's happening.
[34:34.000 --> 34:35.000] Yeah.
[34:35.000 --> 34:40.000] I think his father is basically just trying to bring him down a peg.
[34:40.000 --> 34:43.000] And which I don't think there's any issue in that at all.
[34:43.000 --> 34:45.000] Could he do it a little differently? Sure.
[34:45.000 --> 34:50.000] But I don't think his father is doing anything wrong in this moment.
[34:50.000 --> 34:51.000] I do.
[34:51.000 --> 34:52.000] You do.
[34:52.000 --> 34:53.000] I do.
[34:53.000 --> 35:00.000] I think that it looks like his father has kept Nate at arms length forever.
[35:00.000 --> 35:03.000] And you can see that mom compensates for that.
[35:03.000 --> 35:04.000] Here you go.
[35:04.000 --> 35:07.000] My baby boy, my darling boy, here's these, you know,
[35:07.000 --> 35:10.000] blah, blah, blah, kisses flowers for mom, you know,
[35:10.000 --> 35:12.000] and dad is standoffish.
[35:12.000 --> 35:20.000] And I think that a lot of men try to get approval or validation from their
[35:20.000 --> 35:21.000] father.
[35:21.000 --> 35:24.000] I mean, we see that with Jamie and his own father.
[35:24.000 --> 35:25.000] Yeah.
[35:25.000 --> 35:26.000] We see that.
[35:26.000 --> 35:28.000] And we learn about Ted and his father, right?
[35:28.000 --> 35:30.000] It's another show with daddy issues.
[35:30.000 --> 35:31.000] It really is.
[35:31.000 --> 35:32.000] Well, and men,
[35:32.000 --> 35:35.000] and I'm so glad that they bring it to light in different ways,
[35:35.000 --> 35:37.000] especially in, in,
[35:37.000 --> 35:42.000] in this show because it is really important for fathers to understand
[35:42.000 --> 35:46.000] their role in their son's lives.
[35:46.000 --> 35:47.000] It, you know,
[35:47.000 --> 35:50.000] fathers are so important to their children,
[35:50.000 --> 35:52.000] so important to their children.
[35:52.000 --> 35:53.000] It, it,
[35:53.000 --> 36:00.000] a relationship with a daughter strengthens that daughter into a very
[36:00.000 --> 36:01.000] strong,
[36:01.000 --> 36:05.000] independent woman who understands that she doesn't need another man to
[36:05.000 --> 36:06.000] make her feel good.
[36:06.000 --> 36:08.000] She gets that strength from her father,
[36:08.000 --> 36:13.000] just like a man or a boy needs his father to build him up and teach him how
[36:13.000 --> 36:20.000] to be a man and teach him how to be humble or modest or whatever,
[36:20.000 --> 36:22.000] but also while aiming for,
[36:22.000 --> 36:23.000] you know,
[36:23.000 --> 36:25.000] the best that they can possibly be,
[36:25.000 --> 36:27.000] you get all of this from your father.
[36:27.000 --> 36:30.000] And I think that over the years and over generations,
[36:30.000 --> 36:31.000] we've lost that,
[36:31.000 --> 36:33.000] especially with the divorce rate in the eighties.
[36:33.000 --> 36:35.000] I'm going off on a real weird tangent,
[36:35.000 --> 36:36.000] but apparently,
[36:37.000 --> 36:39.000] but with the divorce rate in the eighties,
[36:39.000 --> 36:40.000] I mean,
[36:40.000 --> 36:41.000] I don't know about you,
[36:41.000 --> 36:45.000] but all my friends came from divorced families,
[36:45.000 --> 36:46.000] like,
[36:46.000 --> 36:52.000] like all of them and fathers were the ones that never lived with kids.
[36:52.000 --> 36:53.000] And as a result,
[36:53.000 --> 36:56.000] you have a lot of really kind of messed up adults.
[36:56.000 --> 36:57.000] Now are Gen X,
[36:57.000 --> 36:59.000] a late millennial,
[36:59.000 --> 37:01.000] a cuspers,
[37:01.000 --> 37:02.000] exennial,
[37:02.000 --> 37:04.000] whatever you want to call it generation.
[37:04.000 --> 37:05.000] And now as a teacher,
[37:05.000 --> 37:09.000] I see the differences between the kids that have fathers in their life
[37:09.000 --> 37:13.000] and don't have fathers in their life or have terrible fathers in their life,
[37:13.000 --> 37:14.000] you know,
[37:14.000 --> 37:15.000] and that's,
[37:15.000 --> 37:17.000] and that's the thing I wanted to say as well is when it comes to fathers
[37:17.000 --> 37:20.000] teaching their sons and how important that relationship is.
[37:20.000 --> 37:24.000] I know from experience that fathers teach their sons things,
[37:24.000 --> 37:26.000] even when there is separation.
[37:27.000 --> 37:33.000] Because I have learned the person not to be because of my father.
[37:33.000 --> 37:38.000] But that takes a lot of self awareness and as teenagers and young adults,
[37:38.000 --> 37:39.000] especially,
[37:40.000 --> 37:41.000] you know,
[37:41.000 --> 37:42.000] Nate's age and below,
[37:42.000 --> 37:47.000] that's something that you have to learn and you have to try and learn.
[37:47.000 --> 37:50.000] And if you close yourself off to that and you don't want to learn it
[37:50.000 --> 37:52.000] and you're just going to react to it,
[37:52.000 --> 37:54.000] much like Nate's doing right now,
[37:54.000 --> 37:55.000] then you turn into a Nate.
[37:56.000 --> 37:58.000] But I think you also made an interesting point too,
[37:58.000 --> 38:01.000] in the dynamic between the mother and the father in Nate's father,
[38:01.000 --> 38:02.000] in Nate's family,
[38:02.000 --> 38:05.000] in that Nate has been living in a family that has pretty much been an
[38:05.000 --> 38:06.000] emotional tug of war.
[38:06.000 --> 38:07.000] Yes.
[38:07.000 --> 38:08.000] A hundred percent.
[38:08.000 --> 38:10.000] Because of the fact that you're right.
[38:10.000 --> 38:12.000] His mom gives him all this accolation,
[38:12.000 --> 38:13.000] gives him all this love,
[38:13.000 --> 38:15.000] shows him all this praise and his father doesn't show any of it.
[38:15.000 --> 38:20.000] So I feel like Nate has been trying to kind of pull this into the
[38:20.000 --> 38:23.000] middle and he's failed thus far.
[38:23.000 --> 38:27.000] Well, and a little bit of this is also on Ted.
[38:27.000 --> 38:29.000] Yes, I agree with that as well.
[38:29.000 --> 38:31.000] Because we see,
[38:31.000 --> 38:36.000] and we're so angry at Nate right now because he's being such a jerk.
[38:36.000 --> 38:42.000] I mean, top tier grade A filet mignon jerk, right?
[38:42.000 --> 38:45.000] But who is there to help him right now?
[38:45.000 --> 38:46.000] No one.
[38:46.000 --> 38:47.000] Yeah.
[38:47.000 --> 38:52.000] He has nobody helping him, mentoring him, bringing him along.
[38:52.000 --> 38:54.000] He just got a surge of fame.
[38:54.000 --> 38:56.000] Who was there to help him figure it out?
[38:56.000 --> 38:58.000] Keely sure wasn't.
[38:58.000 --> 39:00.000] And that's her job.
[39:00.000 --> 39:01.000] That's a good point.
[39:01.000 --> 39:04.000] I didn't even really think about that is that she is the,
[39:04.000 --> 39:06.000] she is the promotions manager,
[39:06.000 --> 39:09.000] which involves social media for AFC Richmond.
[39:09.000 --> 39:11.000] She should have been on this.
[39:11.000 --> 39:13.000] She should have seen.
[39:13.000 --> 39:14.000] Yeah, you're right.
[39:14.000 --> 39:20.000] Just following hashtags along because I'm sure Nate Shelley has been
[39:20.000 --> 39:25.000] or coach Nate or wonder kid has been tagged along with AFC Richmond.
[39:25.000 --> 39:26.000] She should have.
[39:26.000 --> 39:28.000] She should have seen.
[39:28.000 --> 39:29.000] Yes.
[39:29.000 --> 39:32.000] So there's a lot of people failing Nate right now.
[39:32.000 --> 39:34.000] Does he get a pass for his actions?
[39:34.000 --> 39:35.000] Absolutely not.
[39:35.000 --> 39:36.000] Absolutely not.
[39:36.000 --> 39:40.000] However, nobody's looking out for Nate,
[39:40.000 --> 39:42.000] not even his own father.
[39:42.000 --> 39:44.000] Yeah.
[39:44.000 --> 39:46.000] Well, I mean, even, and that's, you know,
[39:46.000 --> 39:48.000] what that's a good point too is that, you know,
[39:48.000 --> 39:51.000] when you look at things from Nate's point of view, like, yes,
[39:51.000 --> 39:54.000] he's getting the accolation and the love from his mom,
[39:54.000 --> 39:58.000] but even his mother is calling it the wrong thing.
[39:58.000 --> 40:00.000] She calls him boy wonder.
[40:00.000 --> 40:05.000] And he kind of takes offense to that a little bit in,
[40:05.000 --> 40:07.000] in correcting her.
[40:07.000 --> 40:09.000] Like he says, no, like it's,
[40:09.000 --> 40:11.000] it's wonder kid or wonder kind,
[40:11.000 --> 40:13.000] which is what I'm pretty sure I said.
[40:13.000 --> 40:15.000] No, you didn't for one.
[40:15.000 --> 40:17.000] And, and, and Jan knows it.
[40:17.000 --> 40:20.000] Yeah, exactly.
[40:20.000 --> 40:22.000] But you know, like he, you're right.
[40:22.000 --> 40:27.000] I like even then I think he's even kind of,
[40:27.000 --> 40:29.000] he's not accepting it from,
[40:29.000 --> 40:33.000] he's getting it from one place and he's not accepting it because it's the
[40:33.000 --> 40:35.000] one place he's always gotten it from.
[40:35.000 --> 40:37.000] He wants it from new people.
[40:37.000 --> 40:39.000] He wants it from Ted.
[40:39.000 --> 40:42.000] He wants it from his dad.
[40:42.000 --> 40:43.000] Yep.
[40:43.000 --> 40:44.000] He wants it from Ted and his dad.
[40:44.000 --> 40:45.000] That's it.
[40:45.000 --> 40:46.000] Yeah.
[40:46.000 --> 40:48.000] And they're the two places he's not getting it.
[40:48.000 --> 40:53.000] Like, cause remember when beard talked to him about the way that Nate
[40:53.000 --> 40:58.000] spoke to Colin, Nate had one question for beard.
[40:58.000 --> 41:00.000] Did you tell Ted?
[41:00.000 --> 41:01.000] That's it.
[41:01.000 --> 41:04.000] Yeah, that's true.
[41:04.000 --> 41:07.000] I think, I mean, and I will say in this,
[41:07.000 --> 41:10.000] I'm not saying it's for every episode of the season cause it's certainly
[41:10.000 --> 41:14.000] not, but this episode, I think Ted does get a little bit of a pass.
[41:14.000 --> 41:15.000] Yeah.
[41:15.000 --> 41:16.000] But okay.
[41:16.000 --> 41:19.000] He wasn't there to hear the way Nate spoke to Colin.
[41:19.000 --> 41:20.000] That's true.
[41:20.000 --> 41:21.000] Yeah.
[41:21.000 --> 41:22.000] Because he did say, did I miss something?
[41:22.000 --> 41:23.000] Yeah.
[41:23.000 --> 41:24.000] Do I need to know it?
[41:24.000 --> 41:25.000] No.
[41:25.000 --> 41:26.000] Yeah.
[41:26.000 --> 41:29.000] Ted does get a little bit of a pass this episode.
[41:29.000 --> 41:30.000] 100%.
[41:30.000 --> 41:32.000] But last episode, no, God, no.
[41:32.000 --> 41:33.000] He does not.
[41:33.000 --> 41:34.000] Oh, I even said it.
[41:34.000 --> 41:37.000] Like he pushes Nate to the side.
[41:37.000 --> 41:39.000] He physically moves Nate.
[41:39.000 --> 41:43.000] Well, and he saves his ass in that game.
[41:43.000 --> 41:44.000] Yeah.
[41:44.000 --> 41:47.000] And Ted says nothing to him about it.
[41:47.000 --> 41:48.000] Yeah.
[41:48.000 --> 41:50.000] I don't think Ted has said it.
[41:50.000 --> 41:51.000] And that's the thing.
[41:51.000 --> 41:53.000] Like if you look at the timeline,
[41:53.000 --> 41:57.000] I don't think there's been another game yet since that game last
[41:57.000 --> 41:58.000] episode.
[41:58.000 --> 41:59.000] No, I don't.
[41:59.000 --> 42:00.000] Yeah.
[42:00.000 --> 42:01.000] I think you're right.
[42:01.000 --> 42:03.000] Because I think that is the episode that got them into the semi-finals
[42:03.000 --> 42:05.000] and then that's that what they're talking about.
[42:05.000 --> 42:10.000] So Nate is still on a high for maybe a couple of days to a week.
[42:10.000 --> 42:11.000] At this point.
[42:11.000 --> 42:15.000] He's still legitimately in his 15 minutes of fame.
[42:15.000 --> 42:16.000] Mm-hmm.
[42:16.000 --> 42:18.000] Because that's all it is.
[42:18.000 --> 42:20.000] It's 15 minutes of fame.
[42:20.000 --> 42:23.000] Well, is it?
[42:23.000 --> 42:25.000] Well, that goes into spoilers a little bit.
[42:25.000 --> 42:26.000] Yeah.
[42:26.000 --> 42:27.000] So you're right.
[42:27.000 --> 42:29.000] Maybe it's not 15 minutes of fame.
[42:29.000 --> 42:34.000] It's, well, I think it's 15 minutes of fame from the fans,
[42:34.000 --> 42:37.000] but to a different person, it's not.
[42:37.000 --> 42:41.000] To a different person, it's a way in.
[42:41.000 --> 42:42.000] Yes.
[42:42.000 --> 42:44.000] We'll talk about this in spoilers.
[42:44.000 --> 42:45.000] Yes, exactly.
[42:45.000 --> 42:48.000] However, going back to Nate, listen,
[42:48.000 --> 42:55.000] I realize I've spent like the last 10 minutes sticking up for Nate,
[42:55.000 --> 42:57.000] but I don't want it.
[42:57.000 --> 43:01.000] I don't want it to be confused with the fact that I hate Nate.
[43:01.000 --> 43:02.000] I hate his actions.
[43:02.000 --> 43:04.000] I hate everything he's doing right now.
[43:04.000 --> 43:10.000] I'm just trying to understand the direction of his character right now.
[43:10.000 --> 43:11.000] Okay.
[43:11.000 --> 43:14.000] It's going to be interesting when we get into season three,
[43:14.000 --> 43:18.000] particularly because it is a first rewatch for both of us.
[43:18.000 --> 43:19.000] Mm-hmm.
[43:19.000 --> 43:23.000] I want to see how your feelings on Nate are going into season three.
[43:23.000 --> 43:24.000] Well, you too.
[43:24.000 --> 43:25.000] Yeah.
[43:25.000 --> 43:26.000] Our feelings.
[43:26.000 --> 43:28.000] Well, because my feelings for Nate have already changed.
[43:28.000 --> 43:29.000] Yeah.
[43:29.000 --> 43:30.000] In season two.
[43:30.000 --> 43:35.000] Whereas I gave Nate a little bit of a pass up until a particular moment,
[43:35.000 --> 43:37.000] which doesn't happen until the season finale.
[43:37.000 --> 43:43.000] Um, this time around, I'm like, no, I kind of don't give him a pass.
[43:43.000 --> 43:45.000] He's been a jerk the entire time.
[43:45.000 --> 43:46.000] Yeah.
[43:46.000 --> 43:48.000] And we've seen it all season.
[43:48.000 --> 43:52.000] But I, there are other people that I gave passes to last season,
[43:52.000 --> 43:56.000] meet and leaning like Ted and such that I don't give passes to this.
[43:56.000 --> 43:57.000] Yeah.
[43:57.000 --> 44:01.000] And I think it's because I see now.
[44:01.000 --> 44:04.000] All the ingredients.
[44:04.000 --> 44:07.000] I see all the kindling being thrown into the fire.
[44:07.000 --> 44:08.000] Yeah.
[44:08.000 --> 44:10.000] This, this time.
[44:10.000 --> 44:13.000] Whereas upon first watch, I just saw the explosion.
[44:13.000 --> 44:18.000] And I think it's because we're just so enamored with the team and with
[44:18.000 --> 44:23.000] Ted and with Rebecca and Keely and Roy and Keely and Higgins and his
[44:23.000 --> 44:26.000] cute little pipe and, you know, like, we're just.
[44:26.000 --> 44:28.000] Like one of my favorite parts of the episode.
[44:28.000 --> 44:30.000] Um, but it.
[44:30.000 --> 44:32.000] We are on first watch.
[44:32.000 --> 44:36.000] You're just so enamored with this whole world and you just want to be in
[44:36.000 --> 44:38.000] it and you're just so cozy and lovely.
[44:38.000 --> 44:41.000] And then Nate messes everything up at the end and you're like,
[44:41.000 --> 44:44.000] what just happened to my favorite show?
[44:44.000 --> 44:47.000] But then you watch it again and you're like, oh, okay.
[44:47.000 --> 44:48.000] Yeah, I see it.
[44:48.000 --> 44:49.000] I see it.
[44:49.000 --> 44:52.000] Well, and I, and what really bugs me the most about this entire thing,
[44:52.000 --> 44:56.000] especially with Nate going off on Colin is the fact that this whole
[44:56.000 --> 44:58.000] thing stemmed from.
[44:58.000 --> 45:02.000] Look, anybody who has a group of friends that like you rib each other
[45:02.000 --> 45:05.000] and you poke fun at each other, you know, for the most part, it always
[45:05.000 --> 45:06.000] comes from a place of love.
[45:06.000 --> 45:10.000] You tease the people that you love because one, if it's like the
[45:10.000 --> 45:13.000] whole, like, if I didn't make fun of you, I didn't, it means I didn't
[45:13.000 --> 45:14.000] care.
[45:14.000 --> 45:15.000] Yeah.
[45:15.000 --> 45:18.000] You know, the team is ribbing Nate in the beginning.
[45:18.000 --> 45:21.000] They're kind of poking fun at him and they're taking them in.
[45:22.000 --> 45:25.000] They're accepting of Nate as a coach.
[45:25.000 --> 45:28.000] They're making fun of him and you know, they're doing it because they
[45:28.000 --> 45:30.000] really like Nate now.
[45:30.000 --> 45:31.000] Yes.
[45:31.000 --> 45:35.000] And Nate takes it as in these guys are just putting me down.
[45:35.000 --> 45:37.000] Because of season one.
[45:37.000 --> 45:38.000] Yeah.
[45:38.000 --> 45:39.000] Yeah.
[45:39.000 --> 45:41.000] He's kind of reliving a little bit of trauma.
[45:41.000 --> 45:45.000] And, but, you know, that's not the place this is coming from
[45:45.000 --> 45:46.000] this time.
[45:46.000 --> 45:49.000] This is coming from genuine love and affection that this team has
[45:49.000 --> 45:50.000] for Nate.
[45:50.000 --> 45:52.000] And Nate is just not seeing it that way.
[45:52.000 --> 45:55.000] I don't think that he has accepted that Jamie's different
[45:55.000 --> 45:58.000] too, maybe.
[45:58.000 --> 46:00.000] Everybody else has.
[46:00.000 --> 46:01.000] Oh my gosh.
[46:01.000 --> 46:02.000] Jamie is the best.
[46:02.000 --> 46:04.000] He's the best in this episode.
[46:04.000 --> 46:06.000] I just love him so much.
[46:06.000 --> 46:10.000] When he walks into the boot room, that's the best.
[46:10.000 --> 46:13.000] And Roy walks in, he's like, are you talking about me?
[46:13.000 --> 46:16.000] And Jamie's like, yeah.
[46:16.000 --> 46:17.000] Well, that's it.
[46:17.000 --> 46:18.000] That's the best part.
[46:18.000 --> 46:21.000] So are we finished with like a lot of the Nate stuff?
[46:21.000 --> 46:22.000] I am.
[46:22.000 --> 46:23.000] Are you?
[46:23.000 --> 46:24.000] Yeah.
[46:24.000 --> 46:25.000] I think I am too.
[46:25.000 --> 46:27.000] So we can kind of shift into the Roy and Keely parts of this
[46:27.000 --> 46:30.000] episode, because this is, I think where a lot of the levity comes
[46:30.000 --> 46:33.000] into it while still giving these characters a little bit of
[46:33.000 --> 46:35.000] the evolution that you mentioned.
[46:35.000 --> 46:36.000] And you're right.
[46:36.000 --> 46:40.000] Like every time Roy has walked in on groups of people talking
[46:40.000 --> 46:44.000] about him, it's always a bit of a mix in the response.
[46:44.000 --> 46:45.000] Yeah.
[46:45.000 --> 46:47.000] And that is, are you talking about me?
[46:47.000 --> 46:49.000] Yeah, he's, we're talking about Roy,
[46:49.000 --> 46:50.000] our us.
[46:50.000 --> 46:52.000] He's like, I hate to say Roy.
[46:52.000 --> 46:53.000] I hate that.
[46:53.000 --> 46:54.000] We're not talking about Roy.
[46:54.000 --> 46:56.000] So it's always like, did I remember? Yes.
[46:56.000 --> 46:57.000] And the other half or no,
[46:57.000 --> 46:59.000] not in the boot room in the boot room.
[46:59.000 --> 47:00.000] They all said yes.
[47:00.000 --> 47:03.000] And, and Roy's response has always been like,
[47:03.000 --> 47:08.000] I fair enough. Like, and then.
[47:08.000 --> 47:11.000] Cause he knows people talk about him when he's not in the room,
[47:11.000 --> 47:13.000] he's not stupid, famous person. Yeah.
[47:13.000 --> 47:14.000] He's not stupid.
[47:14.000 --> 47:15.000] Yeah.
[47:15.000 --> 47:19.000] Everybody leaves and again, it's like two, three, four.
[47:21.360 --> 47:24.160] And even Rebecca just go right back to jazz.
[47:24.160 --> 47:26.560] I did it, skidded, leaded, boop, boop, boop.
[47:26.560 --> 47:29.060] Yeah, it's awesome. I just love it.
[47:29.060 --> 47:32.000] But I mean, I also like the fact, too, that Roy is very
[47:32.000 --> 47:36.740] he he's very aware of the relationship that Keely and Rebecca have.
[47:37.100 --> 47:40.260] So and he's very honoring of that.
[47:40.260 --> 47:43.000] Like he knows they're going to share with each other things.
[47:43.000 --> 47:46.500] So when he walks in and the conversation suddenly stops,
[47:46.700 --> 47:50.540] he's not ignorant of the fact that, yes, they're probably talking about him.
[47:51.140 --> 47:54.040] And he's not going to be like, oh, what are you guys talking about?
[47:54.040 --> 47:56.600] Like, no, he's actually genuinely respecting
[47:57.000 --> 48:00.400] that relationship that they to they have as friends. Right.
[48:00.440 --> 48:01.540] So he's not getting involved.
[48:01.540 --> 48:03.540] He's like, all right, I'm going to let you have your gossip
[48:03.540 --> 48:05.940] and I'm going to turn around and I'm going to walk out of the room. Right.
[48:06.440 --> 48:09.740] And that makes Roy such a great character. He's so wonderful.
[48:10.120 --> 48:14.860] He's so wonderful. But I just love it when I
[48:16.360 --> 48:20.100] I want to go to the boot scene because I just love the boot room scene so much.
[48:20.460 --> 48:22.060] And Ted walks in and Keely's there.
[48:22.060 --> 48:26.100] She's like, no, the cigarettes just to mask the boot smell.
[48:26.400 --> 48:29.240] Then Rebecca comes in and she's like, we've decided
[48:29.240 --> 48:31.740] smoking doesn't count in this room.
[48:33.740 --> 48:37.200] She's like, well, I've been found out like fully admits it.
[48:37.680 --> 48:40.140] I love the fact that they've been discarding them in shoes.
[48:40.740 --> 48:45.000] It's so not in shoes in one particular pair of shoes.
[48:45.200 --> 48:46.800] Yeah, I wonder who's they are.
[48:46.800 --> 48:48.840] I don't know. I tried to figure that out.
[48:49.440 --> 48:51.600] Oh, I don't know. God, that would be good if it was.
[48:52.900 --> 48:56.000] But that's like that becomes a running joke in this season two.
[48:56.500 --> 49:01.340] Actually, through season two and three is Will in the boot room.
[49:01.640 --> 49:05.600] Yeah, because he always kind of ends up in the boot room
[49:05.600 --> 49:08.040] when something is happening in the boot room.
[49:08.040 --> 49:12.600] It's just so funny because it's the boot room is kind of Will's domain.
[49:12.700 --> 49:14.400] That's his office. That's his office.
[49:14.400 --> 49:16.840] Yeah. Melly, his smelly boot office.
[49:17.240 --> 49:22.940] And everybody just uses it to like hide, smoke, cigarettes, gossip, make out.
[49:22.940 --> 49:25.600] Like and he just walks in. He's like, guys, come on.
[49:25.600 --> 49:28.940] I'm a man. I don't know what to do with my hands anymore.
[49:28.940 --> 49:30.140] Like what?
[49:30.140 --> 49:32.600] But they all seem surprised any time they're in there
[49:32.600 --> 49:36.560] and either Will walks in or it's discovered that Will was already in there.
[49:36.940 --> 49:40.600] It's like, no, like he's still quiet. This is his room.
[49:42.840 --> 49:47.700] You're using his space to have your conversation every time.
[49:47.700 --> 49:50.640] Like I said, it becomes a running joke season two and the season three.
[49:50.640 --> 49:53.940] Yeah, it's like there are times where like there are conversations happening.
[49:53.940 --> 49:57.040] And then all of a sudden, Will just chimes in.
[49:57.040 --> 49:59.240] It's like, where did you come from?
[49:59.240 --> 50:01.700] You've been here the whole time.
[50:01.700 --> 50:04.000] It's like Miss Doubtfire the whole time.
[50:05.500 --> 50:09.900] Yes. So but yeah, the boot room scene is great.
[50:11.580 --> 50:14.740] But you know, the whole thing about this is that Keely is getting kind of
[50:14.740 --> 50:18.280] she's feeling overburdened because now that Roy and Keely work together,
[50:18.280 --> 50:19.440] they go to the office together.
[50:19.440 --> 50:22.980] It feels like she is spending every moment of her day
[50:23.340 --> 50:26.340] from work to home with Roy. And I get that.
[50:27.200 --> 50:28.380] I totally get that.
[50:28.380 --> 50:32.580] Like you need space sometimes to be alone.
[50:33.180 --> 50:37.440] And I come home from work every day and I close the door to my bedroom
[50:37.440 --> 50:41.740] for a half hour and nobody better come in there. Nobody.
[50:41.940 --> 50:44.240] It's your decompress time. Yes.
[50:44.240 --> 50:46.980] So I get that. But I love that.
[50:46.980 --> 50:51.680] Like I I kind of see it from both sides that I love seeing
[50:52.080 --> 50:54.180] how affectionate Roy is being.
[50:54.180 --> 50:56.340] Like he just loves being around Keely.
[50:56.340 --> 50:58.700] This is something new to him.
[50:58.700 --> 51:02.840] He's never he's never been this intimate with a person before.
[51:03.540 --> 51:05.340] And he's he's living it up.
[51:05.340 --> 51:10.440] But at the same time, he he's learning about it as well.
[51:10.440 --> 51:13.440] Don't don't come into the room when she's watching her show
[51:13.440 --> 51:16.440] and talk about your stupid book.
[51:16.440 --> 51:19.200] OK, first off, the DaVinci Code is not a stupid book.
[51:19.340 --> 51:20.700] No, it's awesome. I love it.
[51:20.700 --> 51:22.040] It's a it's a great book.
[51:22.040 --> 51:24.140] And I was like seeing Roy reading it.
[51:24.140 --> 51:27.240] And I'm like, I kind of want to break the DaVinci Code back out.
[51:27.340 --> 51:28.840] I love it that he goes to the read.
[51:32.680 --> 51:36.280] And he brings up such a good point where he talks about how short
[51:36.280 --> 51:39.440] the chapters are, that it just makes you want to keep reading.
[51:39.440 --> 51:41.800] And I'm like, God, I feel you on that, Roy,
[51:42.680 --> 51:45.240] because that is so true about that book.
[51:45.440 --> 51:48.200] Yeah. But like, yeah, like I love.
[51:49.180 --> 51:52.440] But I also love the fact that like he is actually like
[51:52.440 --> 51:56.900] he's doing what Keely tells him, like Keely says, like, you know, like
[51:56.900 --> 51:59.600] if if you have to go in the other room and read your book
[52:00.400 --> 52:01.800] so that I can get work done.
[52:01.800 --> 52:04.400] And he does. He doesn't fight her on it.
[52:05.100 --> 52:09.800] No, it's just these are two people that are learning about this
[52:10.000 --> 52:12.200] because there's a part of me that wants to believe.
[52:12.200 --> 52:15.540] I don't think Keely's ever had a relationship this intimate either.
[52:15.940 --> 52:18.800] No, she's only dated young, dumb football players.
[52:18.800 --> 52:20.400] Yeah. I mean, she said that.
[52:20.400 --> 52:24.460] So they're both they're both in uncharted territory here.
[52:25.560 --> 52:28.800] And really really steps up at the end.
[52:29.100 --> 52:32.500] Well, because of Jamie, because of Jamie, I was just going to say,
[52:32.860 --> 52:35.760] let's talk about that moment. So cute.
[52:36.160 --> 52:40.060] That is some of the best nonverbal acting
[52:40.860 --> 52:42.660] I have seen in this show.
[52:42.660 --> 52:45.900] When when when it comes down to them on the pitch
[52:46.400 --> 52:50.500] and, you know, right for the first time, yells whistle.
[52:51.560 --> 52:53.460] Yes, it was. I put that down.
[52:53.460 --> 52:55.500] It's the first time we hear whistle, whistle.
[52:56.060 --> 53:01.200] And he says because he gets mouth rash from the from the whistle.
[53:01.460 --> 53:05.600] So he just screams it, which I absolutely love.
[53:05.660 --> 53:09.300] And, you know, now that we finally got to it, I have to play to do it.
[53:09.860 --> 53:15.140] We saw we saw it doesn't come from this episode,
[53:15.140 --> 53:18.640] but it becomes, again, another running joke.
[53:18.940 --> 53:20.800] Yes, throughout everything.
[53:20.800 --> 53:24.240] But that moment where he goes up and he tells, you know, Jamie,
[53:24.240 --> 53:29.280] like you need to be in there. And Jamie is like, no, like I need to give him his space.
[53:29.700 --> 53:32.700] He needs to be out doing his own thing on his own.
[53:32.700 --> 53:34.540] I can't crowd him.
[53:34.540 --> 53:36.200] He needs a space to do his thing.
[53:36.200 --> 53:40.000] And the watching that moment in Roy
[53:40.740 --> 53:44.300] when it clicks, that that's what needs to happen with him.
[53:45.060 --> 53:48.900] Yeah, seeing him like with this befuddled look on his face
[53:49.000 --> 53:52.460] and looking in all these different directions, like he's processing this.
[53:52.800 --> 53:56.000] Right. And I'm sure the fact that he's getting this
[53:56.300 --> 54:01.460] like breakthrough because of Jamie Tarte is also messing with him.
[54:02.760 --> 54:05.860] Because like when he finally processes it and he's just like,
[54:06.220 --> 54:11.060] fuck, I just walk off the field.
[54:11.360 --> 54:15.120] And Jamie and the rest of the team are like, uh, what just happened?
[54:16.860 --> 54:21.220] Yeah, Jamie is very, very smart and he's deep and he's philosophical.
[54:21.220 --> 54:23.320] He really is. But he's also stupid.
[54:23.920 --> 54:27.660] Yes, he's a bit of an imbecile sometimes.
[54:27.660 --> 54:31.920] Yeah. So but like that is like I I swear
[54:32.360 --> 54:35.260] I rewound that moment like four times
[54:35.760 --> 54:40.900] and just watch that 30 seconds like four or five times
[54:40.920 --> 54:43.560] when I was watching this episode, because it's so damn funny.
[54:44.860 --> 54:48.660] Yeah, like I said, it's some of the best nonverbal acting
[54:49.020 --> 54:51.800] until we get the fuck and, you know,
[54:52.320 --> 54:57.100] and then you see Roy like really learn from that and just be
[54:57.460 --> 55:00.520] unbelievably romantic.
[55:01.800 --> 55:04.820] The rose bath, the lights, the
[55:05.600 --> 55:09.700] the flowers, the candles, the music, giving
[55:09.700 --> 55:12.660] Keely her space playlist playlist.
[55:12.660 --> 55:16.320] I mean, everything he just and she loves it.
[55:16.320 --> 55:17.660] She hasn't pulled him into the tub.
[55:17.660 --> 55:20.100] She doesn't, you know, do anything to make him stay.
[55:20.100 --> 55:26.320] She's like, OK, I'm going to just sit, you know.
[55:26.760 --> 55:29.760] And it's kind of full and similar to Ted and Dr.
[55:29.760 --> 55:33.060] Sharon, this is a breakthrough for Roy and Keely.
[55:33.260 --> 55:37.300] Yeah, they have found a new level of intimacy for sure.
[55:37.720 --> 55:39.660] Yeah, it's beautiful.
[55:39.700 --> 55:41.100] Yeah, it really is.
[55:41.100 --> 55:46.160] And I just I love again, it's it it develops the characters
[55:46.160 --> 55:50.900] a little bit more, but it also gives a little bit of levity to the to the to the episode.
[55:51.560 --> 55:55.760] Yes, which I love how this show is so good at,
[55:56.360 --> 56:00.360] you know, we might get like two or three story arcs happening through an episode,
[56:00.360 --> 56:04.660] but there's always one of them that gives us the levity of the episode.
[56:04.760 --> 56:06.900] Oh, and I think that that's Rebecca and Sam.
[56:07.900 --> 56:12.000] In this episode, yeah, because they're both because Sam and his Sam
[56:12.000 --> 56:16.100] and the team are like searching for the three dots all the time, three dots.
[56:16.100 --> 56:18.060] Yeah, you know, and
[56:19.600 --> 56:23.740] Rebecca is trying to figure out how best to respond to him
[56:23.740 --> 56:27.900] and can't figure it out, which I will say to
[56:29.000 --> 56:32.700] I don't know about you, but I'm sure I speak for most people.
[56:33.600 --> 56:38.100] Those moments where like you like you're on and you're on a text message
[56:38.100 --> 56:41.900] and you see the dots that somebody is typing or you're on a Facebook messenger
[56:41.900 --> 56:45.900] and you see the dots moving that somebody's typing and then you don't get the message.
[56:46.100 --> 56:49.340] Go away. It's like it's so aggravating.
[56:49.340 --> 56:53.240] Yeah, it's like just finish your thought already. Right.
[56:53.240 --> 56:58.200] I know you were typing like just hit enter or hit send. Do something.
[56:58.600 --> 57:00.100] Sometimes, though, the dots show up
[57:00.100 --> 57:03.060] if you're just reading it just because the keyboard shows up.
[57:04.660 --> 57:07.960] Really? I don't know. I've never I've I don't know.
[57:09.760 --> 57:11.960] Sounds good when I said it.
[57:13.060 --> 57:16.020] I don't. Yeah, I don't think that's the case, but, you know, all right.
[57:16.860 --> 57:19.600] But yeah, like I know how aggravating that is.
[57:19.600 --> 57:22.800] But I love this this element with Rebecca and Sam, too,
[57:23.660 --> 57:26.960] because they've they've yet to discover that they are the two people
[57:26.960 --> 57:29.500] that are on opposite ends of this message.
[57:29.860 --> 57:32.400] And they're both holding their phones.
[57:32.400 --> 57:34.300] Yeah, they're both like in that
[57:35.260 --> 57:41.100] teenage more for Sam than Rebecca, because he's actually closer to that age.
[57:41.800 --> 57:42.800] Yeah.
[57:44.800 --> 57:48.700] You know, they're in that whole new discovery portion of this.
[57:48.700 --> 57:51.700] And right. Sam is the one that's like we should meet.
[57:51.700 --> 57:53.760] And Rebecca is the one that's kind of putting it off.
[57:53.760 --> 57:57.700] And I love Keely's Rebecca
[57:57.860 --> 58:00.860] Keely's advice to Rebecca in go and fuck your cartoon rat.
[58:02.460 --> 58:05.860] Ratatouille's favorite movies, Ratatouille, excuse me.
[58:05.860 --> 58:08.000] Ratatouille is is a masterpiece.
[58:08.000 --> 58:10.800] Is a masterpiece. Yeah.
[58:11.860 --> 58:14.460] Which I agree with. So I love Ratatouille.
[58:14.800 --> 58:17.200] I haven't seen it in a while. What?
[58:17.200 --> 58:19.000] Oh, in a while. In a while.
[58:19.000 --> 58:21.100] I've seen it. Oh, God. Yeah.
[58:21.100 --> 58:22.060] Come on, it's Pixar.
[58:22.060 --> 58:23.360] I've seen everything Pixar puts out.
[58:23.360 --> 58:25.900] Well, MovieSwap was about to be real different. So.
[58:28.560 --> 58:32.300] No, I've definitely seen Ratatouille, but she does make a good point, too,
[58:32.300 --> 58:35.860] in that it's, you know, the point of Ratatouille is against like
[58:36.960 --> 58:38.660] what is it she say it's against? It's
[58:40.500 --> 58:43.960] like rich against rich people.
[58:43.960 --> 58:47.160] Or I don't remember exactly what it is.
[58:47.160 --> 58:48.400] I'm actually looking for the quote.
[58:48.400 --> 58:51.700] It is such a Sam movie to love, though.
[58:53.060 --> 58:55.000] It makes so much sense.
[58:55.000 --> 58:56.200] Well, Sam.
[58:56.200 --> 59:00.520] I mean, you know, it's a childhood movie for him because he's still a child.
[59:01.320 --> 59:03.820] Oh, no, I was just thinking, you know, it's
[59:04.720 --> 59:07.120] it's very Sam appropriate.
[59:07.120 --> 59:09.820] Just the overall message of the movie. Oh, yeah. Yeah.
[59:11.320 --> 59:13.520] Um. See.
[59:14.520 --> 59:16.760] I know find that that particular quote.
[59:19.820 --> 59:23.960] Oh, ironically, it's about snobbery and how good art can come from anywhere.
[59:24.160 --> 59:25.800] Yeah. Which is the truth.
[59:27.100 --> 59:29.380] Stop your dithering and go fuck your cartoon rat.
[59:32.280 --> 59:33.180] I love to.
[59:33.180 --> 59:35.140] I know we're getting I'm getting into quotes, too.
[59:35.140 --> 59:38.840] But in that same conversation, when when Rebecca says, I mean,
[59:38.840 --> 59:40.240] everything always goes wrong.
[59:40.240 --> 59:41.740] All relationships are a nightmare.
[59:41.740 --> 59:44.200] And Higgins chimes in with my relationship.
[59:44.200 --> 59:46.400] My relationship is the oxygen that gives me life.
[59:47.240 --> 59:50.740] Rebecca is like apart from Leslie's marriage, which is a bloody greeting card
[59:50.740 --> 59:53.180] of some kind. It's true.
[59:53.180 --> 59:55.580] Yeah. Their relationship is so.
[59:55.780 --> 59:59.920] And I again, when we learned this story in rainbow, it blew my mind.
[59:59.920 --> 01:00:04.020] It made me so happy to find out that's actually his real life.
[01:00:04] I know. I love that, too.
[01:00:07] That he gets to work with his wife on this show and is just
[01:00:12] and he gets to talk about probably what is very realistic in his own marriage.
[01:00:16] Yeah, very much so.
[01:00:18] Which I love.
[01:00:21] Um. I'm looking through.
[01:00:24] I'm done. Yeah, I'm ready.
[01:00:25] Yeah, I don't really think I have a lot.
[01:00:28] Oh, I don't even really have a lot of quotes.
[01:00:30] I have like one or two.
[01:00:32] But there are there are a couple of things we didn't want to talk about spoilers.
[01:00:35] So at this point, if this is your first watch and you want to avoid the spoilers,
[01:00:39] check the show notes to find out when we're going to come back in.
[01:00:43] But now that we've said that.
[01:00:46] I want to talk about the Trent Crim stuff,
[01:00:48] because that's the first stuff that I know we thought about.
[01:00:50] He was on a date.
[01:00:52] Was he? Yeah, I didn't pick up on that.
[01:00:56] That's not that's not even what I was going into. Oh, I was.
[01:01:00] He was on a date. He was on a date. Yeah.
[01:01:04] Hmm. Didn't even pick up on that. Yep.
[01:01:07] Now I'm going to have to go because he was married with a child
[01:01:10] the last time we saw him, and now he's on a date.
[01:01:13] And very subtle, very subtle.
[01:01:16] Do we see the date at all?
[01:01:19] Yeah. Like in the background. Yeah.
[01:01:21] It's a dude. Yeah.
[01:01:23] Well, we that is I mean, yeah, we know that Trent is homosexual.
[01:01:28] So he wasn't at the beginning of the show.
[01:01:30] He comes out in between this time.
[01:01:35] Is that OK? Is that the case?
[01:01:38] I'm pretty sure.
[01:01:39] Yeah, because he talks about it with Colin in season three. OK.
[01:01:43] Yeah, it's been a while since I remember.
[01:01:45] I don't remember a lot of that.
[01:01:46] I remember that conversation happening,
[01:01:48] but I don't remember a lot of the details of that conversation.
[01:01:51] Yeah, because and this is the first, right?
[01:01:53] It'll be the first rewatch of season three.
[01:01:56] So what did you want to talk about?
[01:01:58] I wanted to talk about the fact of what he's talking to Ted about
[01:02:01] and that he says, like, you know, a lot of people don't believe
[01:02:04] that this was food poisoning in.
[01:02:07] Trent actually does get a comment from a source
[01:02:10] that it wasn't food poisoning.
[01:02:12] It was an anxiety attack because we know that nature's the fucking source.
[01:02:17] Nate's being an asshole.
[01:02:19] And that's I think that's coming to us.
[01:02:21] What next episode to I think so conference.
[01:02:26] No, I think the press conference about him addressing the anxiety attack.
[01:02:31] Is. Not until the finale.
[01:02:36] He admits that that's an anxiety attack during a press conference,
[01:02:40] but I don't think that's until the finale.
[01:02:44] There's a there's a moment where because it has to come out first
[01:02:49] that it was an anxiety attack from Trent.
[01:02:53] So the timeline is that Ted addresses the coaching staff
[01:02:58] to tell them that it was an anxiety attack, not feeling sick.
[01:03:02] That's when Nate knows.
[01:03:03] And that's when Trent revealed that's when Nate reveals it to Trent.
[01:03:07] And Trent publishes the story.
[01:03:10] And then it's not until the press conference in the finale
[01:03:13] that Ted addresses the fact that it was an anxiety attack.
[01:03:16] And we need to talk more about mental health and sports. Right.
[01:03:21] And that's also when we get the whole.
[01:03:25] Trent Krim revealed his source to his editor.
[01:03:30] Which he wasn't supposed to do, which is why Trent loses his job at the independent.
[01:03:37] And becomes and becomes Trent Krim independent.
[01:03:41] Uh, yeah, but then his life gets lots better.
[01:03:48] Oh, God, Trent Krim, I can't wait to talk about Trent Krim
[01:03:52] because Trent Kim becomes goes from reporting about the team
[01:03:57] to, in essence, being part of the team.
[01:04:00] Seriously, best addition ever.
[01:04:03] Yeah, it's he is why I love season three so much.
[01:04:06] One of my favorite moments in season three,
[01:04:08] and this is a moment that I do remember is
[01:04:11] I know we're getting way ahead, but I can't wait to talk about this episode.
[01:04:14] There is an episode where.
[01:04:18] Roy Phoebe and Phoebe's mom have a happy uncle's day.
[01:04:23] I love uncle's day.
[01:04:25] I love uncle's day so much.
[01:04:27] And Jamie comes in to be part of Uncle's Day, which is just a great in its own.
[01:04:33] But but Roy, but Phoebe gives Roy a tie-dye shirt
[01:04:38] that she made in school.
[01:04:41] And then he wears it.
[01:04:43] He wears it to to Richmond.
[01:04:47] And there's a scene where he walks in.
[01:04:51] He says hello to Beard and Ted, and they are like in awe.
[01:04:55] They cannot believe it.
[01:04:58] And then that moment after Roy walks out,
[01:05:01] Trent walks in and and just mimics.
[01:05:05] Did you did you saw that, too, right?
[01:05:08] Everybody's just like, what do we do?
[01:05:12] And what I love the most about that scene is that it's the song Red Right Hand.
[01:05:17] That's. Yes, that's right.
[01:05:19] The background right.
[01:05:21] Hey, and oh, that's the Peaky Blinders song.
[01:05:23] Yeah, that's just that scene is just I love that scene so much.
[01:05:29] I love it.
[01:05:30] I can't wait till we get to talk about that, because happy Uncle Day
[01:05:33] is just a great moment. Yes.
[01:05:36] I agree. I've got the stuff with Roy and Phoebe is just happy.
[01:05:40] Uncle's Day.
[01:05:41] We're getting more Roy and Phoebe next episode for Man City.
[01:05:46] It's the it's the parent teacher conference.
[01:05:49] I love that.
[01:05:51] It's going to be great.
[01:05:52] It's so great.
[01:05:53] But yeah, so I wanted to talk about the Trent crib stuff because of that,
[01:05:56] because of the we're going to find out the trend is going to report on
[01:06:01] Ted's anxiety attack.
[01:06:03] And it comes from an anonymous source, which turns out to be Nate. Yeah.
[01:06:08] Yeah. And I thought that it was the fact that you see in the background
[01:06:12] that Trent's on a date, you have to really look for it
[01:06:15] because you have to know what's going on.
[01:06:19] And I think that's easily missed the first time
[01:06:22] because we don't know that about Trent. Right.
[01:06:24] At that point. Right. Right.
[01:06:26] And and I missed it completely in the rewatch,
[01:06:29] so I'm going to have to go back and just rewatch that scene. Yeah.
[01:06:31] I mean, it's right at the end. It's very easy, you know. Yeah, true.
[01:06:36] But yeah, he he definitely was on a date.
[01:06:39] And then what was the other spoiler that we wanted to talk about?
[01:06:43] Oh, was therapy?
[01:06:46] Yeah. Oh, God. Yeah.
[01:06:48] So when is it that we find out about their relationship?
[01:06:53] It's this season, isn't it?
[01:06:55] Is it this season or is it next season?
[01:06:57] I don't think it's until next season.
[01:07:00] That we've that we meet.
[01:07:03] Not that we meet the therapist, but don't they face time
[01:07:06] and he's in the background or he answers the phone or something.
[01:07:12] I you know what, I think you're right.
[01:07:13] I think it might be either the penultimate or the finale of this.
[01:07:17] He answers the phone. Yeah.
[01:07:19] I think that that's what happens is he answers the phone.
[01:07:22] Yeah, I think you're right.
[01:07:22] Means that he's comfortable enough to answer the phone.
[01:07:26] Well, I think his house.
[01:07:28] I think he's already been there.
[01:07:30] Well, I told you he was there.
[01:07:31] I think he was there for Christmas.
[01:07:33] I do, too. Yeah.
[01:07:35] The more I think about it, the more I agree with that.
[01:07:37] I don't remember what my what my stance was on that then.
[01:07:40] You just hadn't thought about it.
[01:07:42] Yeah. Yeah.
[01:07:43] But now the more I think about it, I think you're right.
[01:07:45] Yeah, I think he was there.
[01:07:47] She was too nervous during that phone call.
[01:07:50] And she wouldn't let anything but the wall behind her be seen.
[01:07:54] She didn't. Yeah, she didn't even like move the camera.
[01:07:56] And then when he moved the camera towards her, when he turned the camera around,
[01:07:59] she was like legit nervous and she turned it right back around
[01:08:03] and got in front of the tree.
[01:08:05] So but. Because Ted knew
[01:08:11] that this therapist that he went to for marriage counseling
[01:08:15] was so vehemently against Ted, just as a husband, as an idea,
[01:08:21] you can completely see once you learn this information as a viewer
[01:08:25] about Ted and Michelle's marriage.
[01:08:29] You understand why Ted hates therapists so much.
[01:08:34] He he was railroaded.
[01:08:35] He right in he believed he was being railroaded and he was absolutely right.
[01:08:40] Right. Well, and the first I mean, the first time you watch this episode,
[01:08:44] you're like, holy cow, he is so mean to Sharon.
[01:08:47] But then you watch it again and you're like, Sharon, you don't understand.
[01:08:52] You're going to learn.
[01:08:53] Yeah. Why he is being all going to be revealed and you're going to feel real bad.
[01:08:58] Yeah, you're going to feel real bad.
[01:09:03] Yeah, there is just there's so much learning about this,
[01:09:07] like knowing what we know now about that whole situation
[01:09:11] with the therapist and everything.
[01:09:13] It's just it makes things so much clearer and helps you understand more.
[01:09:18] Yeah. Why?
[01:09:21] You know, he is where it is.
[01:09:23] And the point I was I was getting to earlier
[01:09:26] that I jokingly said I would, you know, I don't want to say
[01:09:29] because I'm going to spoil anything when I mentioned how Dr.
[01:09:31] Sharon, like when you don't you don't go through that amount of schooling
[01:09:34] and pay that amount of money to go through that amount of schooling
[01:09:37] to become a therapist and not care.
[01:09:41] I was going to say, unless you're that therapist,
[01:09:43] where you just do it to meet women.
[01:09:45] Oh, yeah. Right.
[01:09:47] So gross, so gross and unethical.
[01:09:52] It's just like he Ted should have reported him.
[01:09:56] He should have lost his license.
[01:09:58] He like there's just so much that I wish would have happened
[01:10:02] as a result of this inappropriate relationship that happened.
[01:10:07] Well, even so, like even going back to and this goes into the series
[01:10:11] finale in that when they're at home, when Michelle and his son
[01:10:17] are at home watching the game, the big game that Ted
[01:10:21] is they're all right.
[01:10:22] It's the final game that Ted is coaching there into the game.
[01:10:26] And he is just in the background on his phone.
[01:10:29] And every time it cuts to them, he falls further and further back
[01:10:34] into the background, right?
[01:10:35] To the point where he's sitting at the bar
[01:10:37] like their home bar in the back, just looking at his phone.
[01:10:40] He cares nothing about the game.
[01:10:42] Right. And it show it really shows kind of he's only interested in Michelle.
[01:10:47] Yeah, probably not even interested in Henry.
[01:10:51] I don't think I was just about to say the same thing.
[01:10:53] I don't even really think he's interested in Henry, because why would you not
[01:10:56] take Henry along to Paris?
[01:10:59] Right. I mean, I mean, I understand like you you you want to do trips
[01:11:03] with, you know, your significant other, but you're going that far away.
[01:11:08] Yes, it's an opportunity for Ted to spend with his kid,
[01:11:12] to spend with Henry.
[01:11:13] But, you know, as somebody who's coming into the lives of this child,
[01:11:17] you want to spend you want this child to form
[01:11:20] a relationship as well.
[01:11:21] My head cannon is still the same.
[01:11:23] It's never going to change.
[01:11:24] He took her to Paris to propose.
[01:11:26] She said no, and their relationship changed after that.
[01:11:29] I agree with you on that. Yeah.
[01:11:31] I am 100 percent agree with you on.
[01:11:32] I don't need I don't need it to be validated.
[01:11:35] I don't need it to be confirmed.
[01:11:37] That's my head cannon.
[01:11:38] That's what happened.
[01:11:39] Well, because I believe when Ted returns home, that relationship is over over.
[01:11:45] I don't think that relationship was over when they got back from Paris.
[01:11:49] It was just Michelle doesn't leave relationships.
[01:11:52] We learned that because she didn't leave Ted until she, you know,
[01:11:56] felt that she was going to be with someone else.
[01:11:59] Yeah, I don't think Michelle and Ted are back together.
[01:12:02] But Michelle and the doctor are done.
[01:12:05] That that relationship is where we disagree.
[01:12:07] We disagree on this. I know.
[01:12:09] But that's OK.
[01:12:10] Well, we'll see how we feel when we get to it,
[01:12:12] because maybe my opinion will change.
[01:12:13] Yeah, I have one more spoiler that I wanted to talk about.
[01:12:16] And that was Nate and his parents.
[01:12:23] I'm trying to see if I can find it because
[01:12:27] I thought that I wrote it down.
[01:12:29] Well, I do. I do. Right here. OK.
[01:12:31] So we talked a lot about Nate trying to get his father to notice him
[01:12:35] and how his father's not noticing him when really we find out in season three
[01:12:40] his father has been proud of him the whole time.
[01:12:42] He just hasn't known how to do it.
[01:12:45] And all he wants is for Nate to be happy. Yeah.
[01:12:48] And he just goes about it the entirely wrong way.
[01:12:53] I was going to say the same thing, that there is a major breakthrough scene
[01:12:57] with Nate and his father in season three.
[01:13:00] And it really is a it's a great scene because it really is
[01:13:03] a discovery of Nate at the same time.
[01:13:05] Like it's it's Nate discovering himself, because at that point,
[01:13:08] he's left Rupert's team. He's living at home.
[01:13:12] He does have Jade.
[01:13:14] You know, he is in the relationship with Jade, which is something new to him.
[01:13:17] But we see that moment where he finds his violin.
[01:13:22] And rediscovers his love of playing the violin, which is something
[01:13:26] comes in to listen, right? Yeah. Yeah.
[01:13:29] And then we get that whole speech that you just mentioned about
[01:13:31] like his father's always been proud. Yeah.
[01:13:34] Just wants him to be happy. Right.
[01:13:36] And then and then the other thing I wanted to talk about with Nate was that
[01:13:42] Nate has his 15 minutes of fame like you were talking about.
[01:13:46] He's getting his 15 minutes of fame.
[01:13:49] However, there's somebody, Rupert, that's watching all of this.
[01:13:53] And Rupert sees an opportunity.
[01:13:56] Yeah, he's an opportunity to destroy the club.
[01:14:00] That he wanted back so desperately.
[01:14:03] Well, because you're right, he's watching and he sees
[01:14:08] this is a moment to use Nate's vulnerability against Rebecca.
[01:14:14] And he does it gangbusters. Yeah.
[01:14:17] He really does. I mean, this he he proves that he is a mustache
[01:14:22] twirling supervillain. Yeah, that's pretty accurate.
[01:14:27] And I love I love the fact that.
[01:14:31] Um, you know, Anthony Anthony Stewart Head is a great actor.
[01:14:38] I love Anthony Stewart Head.
[01:14:41] I mean, I've loved him since like Buffy the Vampire Slayer
[01:14:44] and Repo the Genetic Opera.
[01:14:46] Like he is a fantastic actor.
[01:14:48] And I love the fact that if you watch interviews with him
[01:14:51] once the show ended, he just loved being a part of even though it was the villain,
[01:14:58] he just loved being a part of the show.
[01:15:01] I would, too. Yeah.
[01:15:03] Even if I got to be the coach that was fired wearing short shorts,
[01:15:06] I'd be like, I was on lasso. Heck, yeah, I was.
[01:15:09] I would make me the USI kid.
[01:15:12] Yeah, I'll be the USI kid.
[01:15:13] I don't even care. I don't care.
[01:15:15] I'll be the teacher in USI.
[01:15:18] Miss Bowen, I love Miss Bowen.
[01:15:20] Can I be Jeremy Baz or Paul, please?
[01:15:24] I think they had the best role.
[01:15:26] They just got to sit there and just be dumb and cheering.
[01:15:31] It's fun watching them develop, especially in the third season.
[01:15:36] Yeah. When Ted opens it up to everybody to watch
[01:15:40] practice and gets the community involved, this show goes to another level.
[01:15:45] Well, not only that, and I know we're still in spoiler territory,
[01:15:48] but the moment in Beard After Hours
[01:15:52] where Beard gives them, like, says, go here
[01:15:55] and this part tell this person, I said it's OK.
[01:15:58] And the place he sent them was to the pitch.
[01:16:02] They walk through that back alley and he lets them out onto the field to play.
[01:16:07] Like, that is such a great moment for those three,
[01:16:11] because that's something, you know, they've only dreamed of.
[01:16:14] And I got to tell you, if you're that loyal of a fan
[01:16:17] and you are a regular at the same pub as the coaches,
[01:16:21] if you haven't gotten that opportunity, something went wrong.
[01:16:25] Yeah, that's that's accurate.
[01:16:29] But that's everything I have for spoilers.
[01:16:32] Me, too. That was fun.
[01:16:33] That was fun. Spoiler check.
[01:16:35] So welcome back to everybody for, you know, who avoided the spoiler territory.
[01:16:40] As you just heard Kristen say, we actually had a lot of fun in that one.
[01:16:44] It was fun. Spoiler check.
[01:16:45] I actually think this has been a great episode so far.
[01:16:48] Because we're delving into the characters.
[01:16:51] Yeah, you're right.
[01:16:52] And not romcom. He's not romcom.
[01:16:55] Let's try to put as many romcom quotes as we can in one episode
[01:16:58] just to see if we can do it.
[01:17:00] Good Lord. All right.
[01:17:03] I'm done. Sorry, Jill.
[01:17:04] It's fine.
[01:17:05] I said, sorry, Jill.
[01:17:08] Not you. I don't apologize to you.
[01:17:11] No, I heard you.
[01:17:14] So, yeah, so let's dive into some of our favorite quotes in that
[01:17:18] I don't really have a lot.
[01:17:20] I, you know, I mentioned the one, you know, go fuck your cartoon rat.
[01:17:24] The only other one I think I like, I wrote down that darn tooten.
[01:17:28] Vladimir, that's the same one.
[01:17:34] The only face I want to see from y'all is what coach game face, baby.
[01:17:38] Darn tooten, Vladimir Putin.
[01:17:42] There's a lot of great one-liners in this episode, but it's like
[01:17:45] it's hooked on to the rest of the scene.
[01:17:47] You know, I was laughing so hard.
[01:17:50] So every Sunday morning, before we record,
[01:17:53] I always watch this episode in the family room.
[01:17:55] Well, Adam woke up before me and he took it over.
[01:17:58] So I'm in my kitchen at the kitchen table with my iPad
[01:18:02] cracking up like real loud.
[01:18:07] Yeah. Yeah, you're right.
[01:18:09] There was there.
[01:18:10] There's a lot of one-liners, like too many to even write down.
[01:18:13] And they go by so quick.
[01:18:15] It's kind of tough to keep track of them, right?
[01:18:17] You know, where's other episodes?
[01:18:18] We kind of get like great conversational quotes this time, though.
[01:18:22] This was really the only one that like the moment I heard is like, oh, that's good.
[01:18:26] Well, and I my favorite line, and I told you the whole episode is
[01:18:29] I can't be your mentor without occasionally being your tour mentor.
[01:18:33] I'm going to put that in my classroom.
[01:18:36] There's there have been some really great
[01:18:42] quotes that have come out of this show.
[01:18:44] I told you in an off conversation that I I want to get
[01:18:49] be curious, not judgmental tattooed like that.
[01:18:53] That's a tattoo. I want to get my teacher friend who is in the next classroom
[01:18:57] over to me, she's the science teacher on my team.
[01:19:00] She has on her board, be curious, not judgmental.
[01:19:05] And it says underneath it, Ted Lasso, which which none of the middle
[01:19:10] schoolers get, that's just for us.
[01:19:12] And I think it's been.
[01:19:15] Proven that like that.
[01:19:18] It's not a Walt Whitman quote.
[01:19:20] Like a lot of people say it now because of Ted Lasso.
[01:19:24] And they they they credit Ted Lasso for the quote.
[01:19:27] But even in Ted Lasso, the key says it's a Walt Whitman quote.
[01:19:31] And I think that's even been disproven that it's not a Walt Whitman quote.
[01:19:34] I quote, I could be wrong about that. Yeah.
[01:19:37] But I can't remember the exact quote either.
[01:19:39] But there was a quote either last episode or the episode before
[01:19:43] when Ted sees Nate in the suit for the first time.
[01:19:46] And he quotes about like the tailor was an Albert Einstein quote.
[01:19:50] Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Uh huh.
[01:19:52] But there have been so many great quotes like that that have come out of this series.
[01:19:57] What's that? Where's the coffee table book? I know it's just
[01:20:01] there is a so I've actually looked into that to see if there were any like
[01:20:07] kind of books about Ted Lasso.
[01:20:09] And there is a book called, I think, like the Ted Lasso way.
[01:20:12] And it was it's not really like none of the writers of the show
[01:20:16] wrote it or anything. It's actually like they're completely separate.
[01:20:20] But it's more of like what they've taken from the show. Yeah.
[01:20:24] And how they apply what they took from the show to real life.
[01:20:28] Which has made me curious that I might actually read the book.
[01:20:31] I might actually find it and pick it up and read it.
[01:20:33] Well, let me know if you find it.
[01:20:35] OK, I know you can get it on and get on Amazon.
[01:20:40] That's really the only quote I wanted to make mention of.
[01:20:43] Do better this episode.
[01:20:45] Beards do better.
[01:20:49] I was looking through my previous notes to see if there were any other ones.
[01:20:52] And I came across the fuck.
[01:20:55] You're amazing. Let's invade France. Let's invade.
[01:21:01] Any other quotes from you? No, I'm good. All right.
[01:21:06] So then let's dive into the feedback from this week.
[01:21:08] And we have quite a bit.
[01:21:11] And that's because apparently some people decided to play catch up with.
[01:21:15] Which is adorable, which is great.
[01:21:17] I love it. And look, we've said that before, whether it's for previous episodes
[01:21:22] or the current episode, always feel free to leave.
[01:21:24] Yep. Feel free to leave his feedback because we'll still play it.
[01:21:27] So if you want to send in a spoiler feedback, like let us know
[01:21:30] and we'll play it during spoilers.
[01:21:33] Just put it in the notes.
[01:21:35] If you're emailing it to us, put it in the notes.
[01:21:38] This contains spoilers or put it in the body to say, hey, guys,
[01:21:41] this contains spoilers because ordinarily we don't read them
[01:21:45] or listen to them ahead of time.
[01:21:47] So if it does contain spoilers, that's fine.
[01:21:50] Just put it in there so we can read it ahead of time
[01:21:53] so that we know to play it during spoiler territory
[01:21:56] and not during feedback.
[01:21:58] So that being said, let's do some of the the catch up ones first
[01:22:03] because we have two voicemails from previous episodes and then we have.
[01:22:09] What are you shaking your head for?
[01:22:10] Do you not want to do written first?
[01:22:13] No, because that's that's current.
[01:22:15] OK, I get what you're saying.
[01:22:17] Let's do the catch up first. OK.
[01:22:20] And then we'll do the.
[01:22:25] The written.
[01:22:26] So, yeah, so we have two voicemails
[01:22:29] and this first one comes from our friend Greg,
[01:22:32] who unfortunately, I found that was sick with covid,
[01:22:35] which is why he he fell behind in his.
[01:22:39] That's the time to watch stuff.
[01:22:42] No, he fell behind in his feedback, I guess, because it was hard to like.
[01:22:45] Oh, yeah, actually, I get that.
[01:22:47] We had to skip a week because of my voice.
[01:22:49] Yeah, that's very true.
[01:22:52] So, yeah, so that's this goes back to Rainbow, which was two episodes ago,
[01:22:57] which I know is your favorite rom communism episode.
[01:23:00] Yeah, well, I'm sure he's going to shit on me the whole time.
[01:23:04] We'll see.
[01:23:06] I haven't listened to it, so we'll find out.
[01:23:10] But let's play that now.
[01:23:11] Good morning.
[01:23:13] All right. So I know I'm a couple of episodes behind, but this is Greg.
[01:23:16] And in the interest of time, I wrote a couple of limericks to
[01:23:20] highlight the plot of Rainbow, or at least a couple of them.
[01:23:24] All right. The first one there once was a coach named Nate
[01:23:28] whose confidence wasn't so great.
[01:23:31] Ted's misstep was a laugh.
[01:23:32] Undermining his staff, he finished next to Roy.
[01:23:35] With such hate.
[01:23:36] Hmm. Now on to Roy.
[01:23:40] There once was a pundit quite fab who loved his doneer kebab.
[01:23:45] Reba growled in glee and unfucked his knee instead proudly like all they have.
[01:23:51] Unfucked his knee.
[01:23:53] Finally, rom coms are sometimes good, sometimes bad.
[01:23:57] And this kind of reflects that.
[01:24:00] Rom coms can have quite a problem.
[01:24:02] Some are repetitive and ho-hum.
[01:24:05] But every once in a while, they can make you cry or smile
[01:24:08] and maybe pulled you out of your doldrum.
[01:24:12] All right.
[01:24:13] I just want to call out a couple of callbacks and running jokes.
[01:24:16] Obviously, the we get the end of the British owl joke, whom
[01:24:23] then Nate sets down and grabs Keely's sharing pillow and holds on to it
[01:24:27] as he goes to talk about a big thing.
[01:24:31] And then the constant and forever gifts versus gifs.
[01:24:37] Anyway, all right.
[01:24:38] I will see if I can get into the next one, into the signal
[01:24:42] and then maybe even the next one that's actually this week.
[01:24:44] All right. Bye.
[01:24:46] Unfucked his knee.
[01:24:48] That was my favorite part of the lyric. Yeah.
[01:24:52] I forgot about the grabbing the comfort pillow.
[01:24:56] No, yeah, I was a good, good callback.
[01:24:59] And Nate seemed to do it quite naturally like he wasn't told to do it.
[01:25:02] He just did it.
[01:25:04] Well, you know, Nate is somebody that needs to hide behind pillows.
[01:25:10] This is true.
[01:25:13] But our next voicemail comes from our friend Steve, who he he
[01:25:18] last week we recorded on Saturday because Sunday was your husband's birthday.
[01:25:22] So we recorded a day earlier.
[01:25:24] And I did put it in the social media post that we were collecting until
[01:25:27] Saturday and Steve missed it.
[01:25:28] He thought it was Sunday because that's when we usually record.
[01:25:31] So he was a day behind.
[01:25:32] But I told him, go ahead and record it and send it to us anyway.
[01:25:35] So he did. So this is Steve's voicemail for last week's episode.
[01:25:39] The signal. Hello, Ben and Christian.
[01:25:42] This is Steve.
[01:25:43] And this is going to be for Ted Lasso, season two, the signal.
[01:25:46] Oh, Jamie made the pass to Danny. Nice.
[01:25:50] Rebecca's mom and her boyfriend or whatever this guy Luke is.
[01:25:56] I was born in 1970.
[01:25:57] I loved a sharp up and stuff.
[01:26:00] Ted Helpy Higgins through the window.
[01:26:02] Oh, no, is he not going to come through the window?
[01:26:04] It's this emergency meeting the Diamond Dogs and Roy refuses the invitation.
[01:26:09] Just saw the credit come up on the screen that Brett Goldstein wrote
[01:26:11] this episode. Jamie doesn't know what Villa studies is.
[01:26:17] Rebecca's mom here at the table with Keely, Ted and Rebecca telling
[01:26:21] her story, how she left her husband.
[01:26:23] She left the toilet without washing her hands.
[01:26:25] You OK.
[01:26:27] Now I got the sound drop from the bake off.
[01:26:30] Strange indeed does the poor little cake soggy bottom.
[01:26:36] Jamie agreeing to everything and really figured it out.
[01:26:39] You're ugly with bad hair.
[01:26:41] Roy said a single, not the single, but it counts in my book.
[01:26:45] Mike drop. Never read phone texts on the TV screen when they flash them up.
[01:26:50] They just go too fast.
[01:26:51] And I'm not I don't want to pause it.
[01:26:54] I guess Ted did say the signal.
[01:26:55] So another mic drop.
[01:26:57] I think brick is going to score from there.
[01:26:59] Oh, this is the one where we see the anxiety attack on Ted.
[01:27:04] Oh, that's right.
[01:27:05] This is the wonderkin thing.
[01:27:06] Wonderkid.
[01:27:07] Yeah, from Nate.
[01:27:08] I remember this Oliver twist is Jane's kink.
[01:27:13] And I never can read these texts, but I'm sure this is this
[01:27:16] is where we find out that Obasanya is the one that she's bantering
[01:27:19] with, right?
[01:27:20] Yeah.
[01:27:20] Oh, yes.
[01:27:21] And Ted and Sharon's off, Dr.
[01:27:23] Sharon's office, and he wants to make an appointment.
[01:27:26] Good for him.
[01:27:28] He doesn't even conclude him now.
[01:27:30] Yeah, I know.
[01:27:30] All right.
[01:27:31] He's over here.
[01:27:31] Bye.
[01:27:32] See ya.
[01:27:34] But he did remind me poor little cake.
[01:27:37] Soggy bottom.
[01:27:43] All right.
[01:27:44] Now we're into feedback for this episode headspace.
[01:27:48] And why don't we start with the Facebook feedback that we got
[01:27:52] for this episode?
[01:27:54] I will start with whoops.
[01:27:56] Wait.
[01:27:57] Hang on.
[01:27:57] I went to the my phone is doing weird things.
[01:28:00] Okay.
[01:28:00] Got it.
[01:28:01] All right.
[01:28:03] Start with the email that apparently I couldn't find again.
[01:28:07] It's from Lindsay Schlick.
[01:28:08] Hello Lindsay.
[01:28:09] I love it that she is regularly on yeah on this podcast.
[01:28:14] It makes me heart so happy.
[01:28:17] This is my very first rewatch and I gotta say Nate is different
[01:28:21] on a rewatch.
[01:28:22] I think I was a little bit more forgiving of him when he
[01:28:24] first started becoming such a dick on first watch, but now
[01:28:27] that I know where it's going everything he does drives me nuts.
[01:28:34] That's so true.
[01:28:36] This was his worst episode yet.
[01:28:38] The way he treated Colin and Will was absolutely foul.
[01:28:42] The obsession with reading about himself just got gross.
[01:28:44] He's so pathetic.
[01:28:45] It makes me uncomfortable to me.
[01:28:48] He's unredeemable.
[01:28:49] I wish Beard had done more Nate wasn't just rude to Colin.
[01:28:53] He was terrible.
[01:28:54] I'm with Kristen when it comes to rom-coms.
[01:28:57] Yuck, but I gotta say even with my dead black heart what
[01:29:01] Roy did for Keely was extremely sweet in the kind of rom-com
[01:29:05] I can deal with me too.
[01:29:06] I totally agree.
[01:29:07] I absolutely love that.
[01:29:09] It was Jamie who inadvertently helped Roy and Keely.
[01:29:11] Yeah, if he had known he wouldn't have said any of that.
[01:29:13] No, no.
[01:29:17] Thank you, Lindsay.
[01:29:18] Yeah, I'm with you.
[01:29:21] I love that Lindsay is a regular now and leaves his feedback
[01:29:23] every week for the episode.
[01:29:26] We have a couple regulars now, which I absolutely love.
[01:29:29] Yes, and on that note, the next one we have is from Alex
[01:29:34] Kruger who has become a regular for the past couple weeks
[01:29:37] and rather than send in Facebook feedback this week.
[01:29:40] He actually recorded a voicemail for us.
[01:29:43] So let's go ahead and play that now.
[01:29:47] Hey team, this is Alex Kruger with feedback on Ted Lasso
[01:29:50] season 2 episode 7 Headspace.
[01:29:53] For those keeping along with Coach Beard's book club,
[01:29:55] this week's novel was About a Boy by Nick Hornby.
[01:29:58] I am a massive Nick Hornby nerd and love many of the
[01:30:01] film adaptations of his books such as About a Boy
[01:30:04] and of course High Fidelity.
[01:30:05] I highly recommend About a Boy starring Hugh Grant,
[01:30:08] Nicholas Holt, Tony Collette and Rachel Wise.
[01:30:10] Man, Beard has great tastes.
[01:30:13] But I was so disappointed by how Nate was handled
[01:30:15] this week by the men he looks up to him like.
[01:30:17] First, his dad couldn't give him just a taste of approval
[01:30:19] for his major work accomplishment.
[01:30:21] Even if he did impart some wisdom Nate needed to hear.
[01:30:24] Next, Beard called him out but only told him to do
[01:30:27] better. He didn't ask why Nate was being so mean
[01:30:29] and weirdly personal.
[01:30:31] Maybe Beard didn't see that Nate's abuse of Colin
[01:30:33] was less than a one-off and more of a troubling pattern
[01:30:35] but by not telling Ted what was going on when
[01:30:37] Ted specifically asks during Nate's apology,
[01:30:41] robs Nate of a chance of working through his issues.
[01:30:44] Instead, it keeps permeating and reaching its zenith
[01:30:46] when he berates the hell out of Kit Man Will,
[01:30:48] a character who is as charming and lovable as Higgins.
[01:30:51] Ted and Beard are committing mentor malpractice
[01:30:54] with Nate this season and I'm feeling more
[01:30:55] sympathetic to Nate's journey this time around.
[01:30:58] But we'll see how much that changes in a few episodes.
[01:31:01] Roy reading the Da Vinci Code absolutely cracks me up.
[01:31:04] I remember having the same no shit reactions
[01:31:07] when I first read it in high school.
[01:31:09] But can we all just take a minute and appreciate
[01:31:11] how much healthy masculinity Roy has?
[01:31:13] First, he doesn't care that his girlfriend
[01:31:15] is talking about him behind his back,
[01:31:16] even with Jamie freaking tart in the room.
[01:31:19] It shows just how comfortable he is with himself.
[01:31:21] But he isn't too comfortable to change when
[01:31:23] he sees he needs to.
[01:31:25] When he has the light bulb moment of practice
[01:31:27] and realizes what Keely needed,
[01:31:28] he made a change and got better.
[01:31:30] You wouldn't think someone is gruff and content
[01:31:32] with themselves like Roy would challenge
[01:31:33] themselves to improve.
[01:31:35] That's why he's Roy freaking Kent.
[01:31:37] And lastly, as a follow up to last week's conversation,
[01:31:40] my favorite festival was 2008 Vans Warped Tour
[01:31:43] up at Montage Mountain near Scranton.
[01:31:46] It was my first concert after turning 21.
[01:31:48] I was able to see the gym class heroes 303
[01:31:51] and I was able to meet Say Anything,
[01:31:52] which is one of my absolute favorite bands in college.
[01:31:56] That's it for me this week.
[01:31:57] I am off to grab a box of tissues and watch Man City.
[01:32:02] Thanks, Alex.
[01:32:02] That was great.
[01:32:04] I loved that.
[01:32:04] Oh, I like his voice too.
[01:32:06] And thank you for actually answering our question
[01:32:09] that we put out last week about the festivals.
[01:32:11] Yes, definitely.
[01:32:16] Vans Warped Tour.
[01:32:16] I don't think I ever saw a Warped Tour.
[01:32:20] I definitely didn't.
[01:32:21] I went to Wango Tango.
[01:32:25] Okay, California knows what that means.
[01:32:27] Yeah, I'm not.
[01:32:29] Don't know what that is.
[01:32:31] But thank you.
[01:32:32] Oh, we still have one more.
[01:32:33] We still have one more.
[01:32:34] We of course have feedback from our friend Steve
[01:32:36] for this week's episode, Headspace.
[01:32:39] So we'll play that now.
[01:32:41] Hello, Ben and Kristen.
[01:32:42] This is Steve and this is going to be for Headspace.
[01:32:44] His mom decorated a box for him
[01:32:46] and he's just looking at it.
[01:32:48] I never got this whole thing.
[01:32:49] Isn't Wonderkind?
[01:32:51] Isn't that Wonderkid in German?
[01:32:52] Just like I never understood this part of the story.
[01:32:56] That is so uncomfortable trying to get comfortable.
[01:32:59] I forgot that he just walks out.
[01:33:00] Man, jerky boys were a national treasure.
[01:33:04] Higgins with the deep thought while Rebecca's trying to figure out
[01:33:07] how to answer Obasanya.
[01:33:09] It's just not enough scatting in TV today.
[01:33:11] Nate just called Colin like a painting at a Holiday Inn.
[01:33:15] Do they have Holiday Inn's in the UK?
[01:33:17] I'm not aware of this.
[01:33:18] Beard just watched this exchange between Nate and Colin.
[01:33:22] I think Beard's getting worried.
[01:33:24] I just walked in the room.
[01:33:25] You're talking about me?
[01:33:26] Yes.
[01:33:27] I've never watched an episode of Sex and the City.
[01:33:29] Just saying.
[01:33:30] Oh, I don't think I ever picked up on the announcers,
[01:33:33] the pundits in that Nate is listening to are saying that
[01:33:36] he should be coaching his own team.
[01:33:38] I never didn't remember that.
[01:33:40] And of course now Beard's got to give him a talking cue.
[01:33:43] Wow, Dr.
[01:33:43] Sharon opening up to Ted about how she felt about what he
[01:33:47] said, but it's interesting.
[01:33:50] I forgot about this moment.
[01:33:51] Nate apologizing to Colin and everybody giving him a big hug
[01:33:55] and wow, I love Roy's whistle.
[01:33:59] Okay, is Jamie talking about football or is he talking about
[01:34:02] Roy and Keely when he talks about somebody needs to space?
[01:34:05] Again, I don't understand.
[01:34:06] Isn't Wonder Kid the translation of Wonder King?
[01:34:10] Or am I completely wrong?
[01:34:12] Now Nate's back to them thinking that they're making fun
[01:34:15] of him.
[01:34:16] Oh, what a sweet thing that Roy just did for Keely with
[01:34:18] the bath and everything.
[01:34:19] Aww.
[01:34:20] I can never read what text.
[01:34:21] What was text was Nate just reading about while Will
[01:34:24] is whistling.
[01:34:25] Oh, and another Nate nastiness coming out right at the
[01:34:28] end.
[01:34:29] Talk to you later.
[01:34:32] I will answer one question that he posed.
[01:34:36] Yes, there are holiday ends in Europe.
[01:34:38] And I'll answer another question.
[01:34:40] Wonder Kind means child prodigy one who succeeds in a
[01:34:45] competitive or highly difficult field or profession at
[01:34:48] an early age.
[01:34:50] Yeah, I don't think it's like it means specifically.
[01:34:53] I mean that is what a Wonder Kid is, but I don't know
[01:34:58] if that's Wonder Kind definition in general.
[01:35:01] Yeah.
[01:35:03] I just don't know if like Wonder Kid and Wonder Kind
[01:35:06] are the same.
[01:35:08] I mean, obviously they are, but I don't know if they
[01:35:09] developed from the same thing.
[01:35:11] I don't know.
[01:35:12] There's an entire Reddit post on it from two years
[01:35:16] ago called Wonder Kind versus Wonder Kid in subreddit
[01:35:20] Ted Lasso.
[01:35:21] So if you'd like to read that, go ahead and read that.
[01:35:24] It has, let's see.
[01:35:27] It has 108 comments.
[01:35:30] Yeah, have fun reading that on your own.
[01:35:34] Yep, because we're not going to.
[01:35:36] There you go.
[01:35:38] But yes, there are holiday ends in Europe.
[01:35:40] I actually just hooked it up there.
[01:35:42] There are quite a few actually.
[01:35:43] The day in there's holiday ends in Germany, Belgium,
[01:35:49] Netherlands.
[01:35:50] Yeah, there's quite a few.
[01:35:53] That's Europe too, not the UK, but I'm sure if they're
[01:35:56] in Europe, they're in the UK.
[01:35:59] Yeah.
[01:36:00] I would agree.
[01:36:03] How many holiday ends are there in the UK?
[01:36:05] There are a total of 601 holiday locations.
[01:36:10] A few holiday ends, not many 601 holiday in locations
[01:36:16] in the United Kingdom as of April 26, 2023.
[01:36:20] So yes, there are plenty of holiday ends in the in
[01:36:24] the UK.
[01:36:26] But thank you everybody for the feedback.
[01:36:29] As I mentioned before, whether it's a you know, our current
[01:36:31] episode or previous episodes, please feel free.
[01:36:35] We encourage you guys to leave feedback.
[01:36:36] Easiest way to do that.
[01:36:38] Just visit our website revisitedpod.com there.
[01:36:40] You'll find links somewhere to listen, subscribe feedback
[01:36:44] or you can email us directly feedback at revisitedpod.com
[01:36:50] Recommendations for this week.
[01:36:51] Anything from you?
[01:36:53] I got one if you don't.
[01:36:55] Um, get caught up on the bad batch because it's coming.
[01:36:59] It's coming back, man.
[01:37:01] Coming.
[01:37:02] And if you don't know what the bad batch is, you need to go
[01:37:05] and watch it because it's awesome.
[01:37:07] It's awesome.
[01:37:08] It's awesome.
[01:37:09] It's so good.
[01:37:11] So good.
[01:37:11] I am so bummed that they're only doing three seasons, like
[01:37:15] just so unbelievably bummed because it is one of it's up
[01:37:19] there for me with Rebels.
[01:37:21] It's probably my favorite of the animated series.
[01:37:24] Well, Rebels will always have my heart.
[01:37:26] But yeah, I mean bad batch is about as close as it can get.
[01:37:30] Yeah, it's so good.
[01:37:31] And it's probably objectively better.
[01:37:33] It's just Rebels has my heart.
[01:37:36] I have two quick, one quick and then the other one.
[01:37:40] I'll maybe spend a minute on but the first one if you
[01:37:43] have the chance and you are still a person who goes
[01:37:45] to movie theaters to see movies, go and see Argyle.
[01:37:49] I went to an advanced screening of it last week and I absolutely
[01:37:52] loved it.
[01:37:53] Don't listen to the reviews.
[01:37:55] Don't listen to the reviews at all.
[01:37:57] Never listen to reviews.
[01:37:58] No.
[01:37:59] Be subjective and go see movies on your own.
[01:38:01] Don't listen.
[01:38:03] And I say this as a film reviewer, like I attend screenings
[01:38:07] all the time and put out reviews, but I always end my
[01:38:10] reviews with be subjective and go and see the movie
[01:38:13] for yourself.
[01:38:13] Yeah, go see it for yourself.
[01:38:15] Roger Cisco and Ebert gave Beauty and the Beast two thumbs
[01:38:19] down.
[01:38:20] Really?
[01:38:21] Yes, look it up.
[01:38:22] No, I don't get that at all.
[01:38:25] But if you are a fan of like the Kingsman movies, you will
[01:38:29] absolutely love this movie.
[01:38:31] Sam Rockwell and Bryce Dallas Howard like are so good as
[01:38:35] the leads in this movie.
[01:38:37] I love Sam Rockwell.
[01:38:39] He is so I'm so happy that he finally got like a leading
[01:38:44] role in this movie because he always plays like these
[01:38:46] secondary characters.
[01:38:49] And he's good at those too, but he is so good in this
[01:38:53] movie.
[01:38:54] He's funny.
[01:38:55] Like he's a badass.
[01:38:56] Like I loved him, but this movie Argyle is so good.
[01:39:00] It's spy.
[01:39:01] It's espionage.
[01:39:02] So there's twists.
[01:39:02] There's turns.
[01:39:03] It's just it's like I've been itching for more Kingsmen
[01:39:07] for so long and this movie scratch that itch.
[01:39:11] That's awesome.
[01:39:12] Was great.
[01:39:13] I still haven't seen Kingsman.
[01:39:15] I need to any of them.
[01:39:18] None of them because there's Kingsman the Secret Service
[01:39:22] Kingsman the Golden Circle and then the Kingsman, which
[01:39:26] is the prequel to both.
[01:39:27] Oh, they're so good.
[01:39:29] They're so good.
[01:39:31] But my other recommendation this week, I watched a documentary
[01:39:34] that I heard a lot about and then when I watched it, it
[01:39:37] is some of the craziest shit I've ever heard of.
[01:39:41] It's it's relatively new.
[01:39:43] There's a documentary on Netflix that just came out called
[01:39:45] American Nightmare, and it's about a kidnapping that happened
[01:39:51] in 2015 that everybody thought was a hoax that people had
[01:39:56] thought it was like a real-life gone girl and been turned
[01:40:00] out to not be fake at all.
[01:40:03] I hate that and it was discovered like almost like weeks
[01:40:08] later that it was for reals not that that it was for real
[01:40:15] and like they were ready to press charges against the guy
[01:40:20] the boyfriend and the girlfriend who was kidnapped because
[01:40:23] they thought the police in California thought they faked
[01:40:26] the whole thing and then it turns out by happenstance
[01:40:29] that another city caught a guy and it tied completely
[01:40:34] into their story my gosh.
[01:40:36] Can you imagine going through something like that and
[01:40:38] being told that you're faking it?
[01:40:41] Yeah, it is.
[01:40:42] That is unrepairable, irreparable psychological damage.
[01:40:48] Oh, they sued the city for defamation and all the stuff
[01:40:54] I've told you is just scratching the surface of the story.
[01:40:58] It's a three-part series.
[01:40:59] They're 45 minutes each so a little over like two hours
[01:41:03] to watch well worth the time.
[01:41:06] Like I couldn't stop watching.
[01:41:08] I was like, oh like this is the crazy shit I've heard
[01:41:12] and it's done well in that the first episode is done
[01:41:14] from the boyfriend's perspective of the person
[01:41:17] who was there when his girlfriend got kidnapped.
[01:41:20] The second episode is told from the girlfriend's perspective.
[01:41:22] So she tells her accounts of being kidnapped and then
[01:41:27] the third episode is how everything comes together
[01:41:29] and they realize it wasn't a hoax.
[01:41:32] It's crazy.
[01:41:33] It's called American Nightmare.
[01:41:34] It's on Netflix.
[01:41:35] I've just written it down and I took a lot of notes
[01:41:38] while you were so I'm excited.
[01:41:42] Any final notes from you?
[01:41:44] No, thanks for listening.
[01:41:47] Yeah.
[01:41:48] So with that being said next episode Man City.
[01:41:51] Oh man, we're gonna have a lot to say.
[01:41:54] I love that episode about this episode.
[01:41:58] But as always thank you for listening and subscribing.
[01:42:00] All of you guys do being a part of this whole thing.
[01:42:03] But until next time we'll see you guys out on the pitch.
[01:42:06] Take care.
[01:42:07] Bye.
[01:42:08] Namaste.
[01:42:09] Bye-bye.
