[00:00:00] S1E5, Sandman Cast, Podcastica S1E5, Sandman Cast, Podcastica Uh, yeah, people don't really come here anymore. I guess it made them miss us too much. Here you go. This was our community in case of emergency's box. Oh God. Cash and condoms. Thanks.

[00:00:24] Now, where exactly did you die? Um, that's where they found us. We played Greywick that morning and I pissed a wind-hitter. We met up here, I tossed a few back with the team, girls, um, and everything went black.

[00:00:40] What happened just before the blackout? Did you see or hear anything? Any faces or voices? Just, uh, it's stupid. Just the tree? Yeah, the dead tree. A tree? Hey, listeners, welcome to the show. I'm Jamie. And I'm Mark.

[00:01:04] This is a spoiler full podcast about the Dead Boy Detective S1E5, the Case of Two Dead Dragons. It was not what I expected when we said two dead dragons. Same here. Same here.

[00:01:13] But, uh, to give a little bit of a, uh, notice to all you listeners, if you have problems with the dead boy, suicide prevention, everything this episode did contain something that regarded suicide.

[00:01:23] So trigger warning and if you do know anybody, please seek help for them or if you're in trouble yourself, please seek help. So with that, we'll move right along into Dead Boy Detective S1E5, the Case of Two Dead Dragons. And we'll get to that in a minute.

[00:01:35] So, uh, we'll get to that in a minute. And then we'll get to that in a minute. And then we'll get to that in a minute.

[00:01:41] So if you have a problem with the dead boy, please seek help for them or if you're in trouble yourself, please seek help. So with that, we'll move right along into Dead Boy Detective S1E5, the Case of Two Dead Dragons.

[00:01:54] And the synopsis is while Crystal, Edwin and Charles investigate the tragic murders of two popular jocks, Nico sets up Jenny and her secret admirer on a butcher shop date. And this was in this was with great intentions, but didn't go well. Not in the slightest.

[00:02:16] Yeah. So what that? What were your initial thoughts or overall thoughts of the episode? Did you like it? Did you hate it? Did were there some things that you did enjoy about it? I keep thinking every episode is better than the last one.

[00:02:29] I keep thinking the show gets better and better each time. So I really enjoyed it. I really enjoyed it. It was a different take. It didn't have as much mysticism about it. No, it was very. It was kind of a typical detective story who'd done it.

[00:02:47] And we did get some interesting characters showing up. Yeah. And we did have some interesting facts. And then we see a little bit more emotion coming out of Charles a little bit from Edwin himself at the end.

[00:03:05] And then some definite, definite realizations from Edwin himself at the end. But a lot of what's going on, obviously continuing the narrative between the two dead boys we know, Nico and Crystal and Crystal going ew, because she has to touch some things too, which is kind of lighthearted.

[00:03:24] It's like, what's in the box? Ew, condoms and money. That's disgusting. I mean, that's what you would need in high school. And some lighters and lighters. Yeah, or cell phones nowadays. Well, it was set in nowadays. Yeah, yeah. And I did enjoy the episode. I found it.

[00:03:46] I can't say fun, intriguing, interesting. But I saw that coming a mile away with Aaron myself as soon as they introduced her and how she was talking and especially how Edwin was saying how it was given. But that's just me.

[00:04:02] But of course, we'll get into that, I guess, as we talk about the episode itself. So what do you have as far as topics to talk about? Obviously, we've gone topped on a couple. But which one did you want to focus in on?

[00:04:19] Just real quick, I want to start with the witch Esther. Yeah, that was kind of glanced over real quick. Yeah. And I don't want us to forget to talk about it when we start getting into the meat of the episode. Yeah. She so she officially we 100%

[00:04:37] are know that she was bloody at the shore, calling on Lilith. And Lilith did give her eternal life. But Lilith did not promise her eternal youth and beauty, which is why she has the snake in the cupboard. Yes. So she has to sell, sir,

[00:04:56] give children to the snake to keep herself young. And she doesn't give a crap about anyone or anything else as long as she can do that. Now, that brings us to Monty. Yeah. Monty, I honestly believe has feelings for Edwin.

[00:05:18] I think so too, because at the very end when we see them at the swings, it showed a genuine affection for Edwin. And at that point, Edwin was at that point going to be like,

[00:05:31] oh, I got to break this off because he doesn't know how to handle it because he's not used to his own feelings. And he also stated he didn't realize and it's a good quote, but I don't remember the whole thing completely about how

[00:05:44] he thought he had baggage in his real life. But now he feels like he's got more and in the afterlife. Yeah, I have the quote here is human connections were never easy for me when I was alive. Now that I'm dead, they seem to bring even more baggage.

[00:05:59] Yeah. But it's sort of humanizing him a little bit more. I mean, he's had to be very careful of himself for a very long time because of the world he grew up in and then being in hell for so long

[00:06:21] and just not understanding the way the world works. I thought him and Monty might be a cute little get his feet wet in the whole realizing gay is OK world. And Monty is adorable. I feel terrible for Monty like he he was so cute swinging up

[00:06:44] and giving him that kiss. Then poor Monty's like, I was not talking about it. It was like I was not talking about you. Yeah, and it was literally about Charles. Now there's two things here. We've got now we've got a dilemma between Edwin and Charles

[00:07:04] because love and friends don't mix. And Charles seems to be squarely straight. Yes. Yeah, especially when he brings it up to Edwin about his kiss with Crystal. Yeah. What was it like? Well, I didn't really feel anything physically, but up here. It was cute. That was so cute.

[00:07:31] But yeah. But now I'm also worried that Monty is going to side with Esther now. Yeah. And do what he can to hurt these boys. Yeah, because he feels a little bit jaded to some degree. Possibly. I mean, maybe he's a sweet guy

[00:07:50] and maybe he's not going to, but it's possible. Or he's just playing that card because that's what he feels that Esther wants him to do. And he owes Esther a lot for bringing him or giving him that life. Because before all he was was a crow. Right.

[00:08:11] And she took care of him as a crow, too. At least it seems that way. Like he seems to know a whole lot about her. Yeah, I really like the character, Monty. I just hope that this whole

[00:08:27] is he on the fence of being good or bad that I'm hoping that gets resolved soon enough. But we're five episodes into eight episodes. Right. We keep not getting. Edwin's story. Nope, I would not be surprised if we get something at the very end

[00:08:47] as a cliffhanger to go into season two. And that way we get a little bit more information and season two. But I don't know, I didn't watch ahead everybody. So I was listening to who has watched it.

[00:09:03] Good for you, but we're keeping it up said by up said. So I guess Jamie and I will find out. Right. We'll at least you and I will find out together. Exactly. We'll be watching separately. People like, oh, that happened.

[00:09:20] But we did get a preview of something similar that Edwin had gotten on his side of going to what I like to say hell, because both boys at the end, yes, we said spoiler. Both boys were in the bed. So they got their just desserts at the end

[00:09:38] because they were just evil in real life. Yeah, of what they did to people. They were unfortunately your typical jocks. Yeah, they reminded me at the very end. They reminded me of the typical jocks from Heather's, if you remember that. Yeah. And like.

[00:10:01] From the first second we meet them, they're walking up like thugs to Edwin. And you're like, oh, no. And then it's like, oh, no, no, these guys are OK. And everybody wants them to be OK, because Charles is seeing him himself and Edwin in them.

[00:10:14] So he wants them to be good guys. Yeah. Crystal wants to believe there are good guys out there. Yes. Like everybody wants them to be good guys and they're just not. No, they're not those two. And it's funny too, because they're the ones that paid to find out

[00:10:32] what happened to them. And in the end, they got what was coming to them because they were just bad people. Yeah, especially whatever what they did to. What's her name? Shelby Eileen Khan, who was. I forget which one's boyfriend at the time, Brad or Brad.

[00:10:58] I want to say Brad. And I. Apparently this is where the trigger warning comes in, because apparently she was a suicide and Edwin goes to the grave to get a summoning bell. Charles gives it to her. Charles gives it to Edwin and he rings and does the knock.

[00:11:19] And then she comes out. We find out about her and what had transpired. So everybody else was giving all these wonderful stories and talk about these two boys and how great they were. But then, you know, you find out, you know, they were.

[00:11:42] They gave her G.H.B. G.H.P.B for and then she was training for what seemed to be like the Olympics or something. She said it was the Olympics. She said she was training for the Olympics. They gave her G.H.B.

[00:11:52] And then that basically killed her dream. Yeah, and then basically killed her her own goals. And that that was her life. And you know, some people just push themselves to those of that's all they could focus in on. And when that is taken away from them, you know,

[00:12:10] they get really depressed. But she winds up and then she didn't want to have anything to do with them. Who would do with Edwin or Charles? But glad they were dead. But we did get her anger come out

[00:12:23] and we got some sort of ghostly demon look on it. When she lifted up and opened her up, that was so cool. I mean, yeah. Yeah. And this was just a cameo appearance by an actress that we all know, as everybody knows on podcast with Jason, Daphne, Penny

[00:12:43] and a whole bunch of them. They cover yellow jackets, WTF. And this was Sarah Desartes, just gardens. And Sarah winds up playing Cali, Sedecki and yellow jackets. She plays Shauna's daughter in that show. So this is if you follow that show

[00:13:02] or if you haven't been watching that show, you could actually go see her there. And she plays a plays an interesting character. Yeah. And if you didn't notice the connection, don't feel bad because I didn't notice either until Mark told me about 10 minutes ago.

[00:13:17] Well, it's funny too, because I see I looked at her like when over the past four episodes that we had done of the podcast, I have the actors up that are in the cast and they have a picture. And I keep seeing her and I'm like,

[00:13:29] where do I know her from? Where do I know her from? And then, of course, the episode shows up. So I said, all right, I know that's her. I got to look at get her name and get who she played in yellow jackets just to reference that.

[00:13:43] If you guys out there like kind of movies like Alive, I think it was. But the soccer team that goes that gets yeah, gets caught in the Andes and they went to cannibalism. Well, pretty much that's what happens with these girls in yellow jackets. So

[00:14:01] so it's an interesting show. But it's really interesting. So go check that out before season three comes out, which I'm supposed to think has wrapped up. But seasons one and two are available. So check that out. But yeah, definitely a great portrayal of the character

[00:14:21] and that gave some insight to these two boys. Well, still on Shelby just real quick before we go back to the boys is there are two things I found interesting. So in this particular part of the world or this world or the lore,

[00:14:39] victims of suicide are forced to roam the earth. Yeah, she's been walking. I mean, she said she was on the other side of the world at that point. So she's just been walking. That's her dream. And she even said when I have to walk, I have to walk.

[00:14:54] Why am I back here? I have to walk. That's different than the Sandman lore. Hmm. Sam and Laura, there's a section of hell for the suicides. And but they both like one thing that she brings up is

[00:15:12] the only life I took was my own, which now that it's done, I don't recommend. Yeah. Well, that comes from understanding and making a mistake. Yeah. And sometimes you can't fix your mistakes. I don't know in this case now, but as a ghost,

[00:15:30] she could probably prevent that from happening. But yeah, who knows what different ghosts seem to have different amounts of powers. That is true. That is true. And yeah, I was glad to see her. It did make a difference because you find more.

[00:15:49] This was the only negative time he saw something about Brad and Hunter. Well, we already except for a twitchy richie that they talked about. We had an inkling that there was something else going on. Yeah. Yeah, because they said they got him addicted to Adderall.

[00:16:07] Addicted to Adderall and then would make him beg for the pills. Yeah, which they found. Oh, well, these are just like rumors and the boys were trying to blow it off as oh, these are just it's just high school things.

[00:16:23] And they they find out later on and then one one piece of well, one scene in particular made me laugh. And I thought it was funny as hell. And I thought it was twitchy richie. He could have been the mascot. He could have been.

[00:16:43] But he was the one that was the one that was giving them the information in that room because he the mascot says basically to go there. But he never saw who was behind your book. It was the yearbook room, right? Yeah. So he never saw who it was.

[00:17:00] I love that like the mascot's like, you've never saw me. And then he just like fumbles to get out. Yeah, runs into the thing. Like it's kind of hard not to see a what do you say? A fuzzy lizard was what Edwin said. Yeah.

[00:17:16] And it's their perception of what high school is like nowadays in comparison to when they were in high school. Well, they also went to boarding school and. And it was in England and it was in England. I just like it was dragons. That was the mascot.

[00:17:31] But we know now because of the episode title, the case of the two dead dragons, it's the two boys because they played for a high school team that their mascot. The school mascot was the dragons. References within the episode, the

[00:17:49] you know how we had title cards at certain points. Yeah. The one that says meet cute. Oh, my God, I loved that. That was so I have ever wrote that one down to. Oh, I love that. Oh, that's brilliant. And and I just love that interaction where.

[00:18:10] Where Jenny winds up meeting Maxine. Yeah. And it was all because Nika wanted to find this mystery person that was well sending her secret love letters and pen pal stuff. Well, it was a chance encounter. Yes, it was walking down the street and Nika's outfit was adorable.

[00:18:31] Nika was walking down the street to mail a letter to her mom and, you know. And as she's walking back from mailing that, she sees she notices the person. She's like, wait, that stationary looks familiar. So she follows. Samantha Maxine. Maxine, that's it.

[00:18:51] She follows Maxine back to the library and then sets up the date. Yeah, which goes completely. Oh, I really. Or I did like the date, but the funniest was in the very beginning when when Nika was talking to her about that she shows up in wine and whatnot.

[00:19:13] And Jenny kind of makes that that comment of like, oh, I'd prefer wine and murder documentaries. And then she goes, well, how about Malbec and Ted Bundy tapes? So right away, coming back at that shows. That should be a red flag right away.

[00:19:31] I like I also liked how Nika set up the. The butcher shop to be like all datey with the roses and the pap lights and the Christmas lights and all that hanging off all the weird stuff.

[00:19:47] Yeah. And the dates going very well at a certain point until when. Well, I was even excited about the kiss. Like she's like, oh, I can't. OK, can I kiss you? And then she talks about about

[00:20:02] her wardrobe or something and then how, oh, I didn't see you wearing that before. Well, I could see into your window. What? Yeah. It's like exactly what Jenny thought right away. And she mentions about stalkers.

[00:20:18] And then we get of all things to the butcher getting attacked with a cleaver by Maxine. Yeah. And I mean, it was such a and I don't from the Wednesday TV show Wednesday and her roommate. And I can't remember the roommate's name. Same year.

[00:20:33] But it was like a vibe like that. But of course, the one you think would be the murder one is obviously not. Yeah. What you thought it was Jenny. And it's not at all. And then it all ends with Maxine slipping

[00:20:47] and falling headfirst onto a table spike that is used for me. Yep. And she did. But she also made a comment about at one point it happening before. So there's possible no, Maxine, when she says, oh, now I have to clean the mess up again.

[00:21:04] Oh, meaning that she has killed before. But I wouldn't be surprised that comes in a later episode or if not maybe next season where. That's right. Maxine could still be sitting there. She could be a ghost or whatever.

[00:21:16] And then they have to take a piece or she could have been dragged down to hell. True. Either way, I didn't even think about that. We could see Maxine again. That's a possibility. And if you look up on on Google, if you Google all the cast,

[00:21:32] she's always there prominent. Same thing with Sarah Disarjuns, but but everybody else is there as well to actually show a picture of despair, too, by the way. The new person Donna Preston. So if you spare was in last season. Not in the dead boy detectives.

[00:21:52] No, but it's listed. Yeah. So I'm not saying because, like I said, everybody have not watched ahead, but it's a possibility that we get to see despair eventually, maybe at the end. Who knows? Yeah. But she was in season one of Sandman. Yes. Yes.

[00:22:08] And I'm looking for more to come out. As far as like somebody's characters to coming back again, maybe we will see. Shelby come back again. Who knows? Maybe it's a recurring role. Maybe she walks around and she goes, oh, you guys again.

[00:22:30] But yeah, the the date from hell, as I like to call it, was interesting. Yeah. And then there's another quotation, what Maron did. And then how they discover all the information. Now, like I said, it was a dead giveaway

[00:22:50] when they walk up and how they feel how Maron was like, oh, this one's not giving us like Edwin States. Oh, it's like, oh, this one's not giving us all the. Nice, happy information about these two boys. In comparison to everybody else. So I'm like, oh, OK.

[00:23:10] So one of them was her boyfriend. Yes. So she should be extra sad. Yeah. And it's through their own investigative skills that they were able to find it in her bedroom. He, you know, Charles right away goes there.

[00:23:26] There's no pictures of Brad over here at all on this wall. And then he starts snooping, snooping, and they find like a lock box. And it's funny how first they see the tree. Oh, the tree with the sad eyes. Yeah, with the eyes and the twisted hands.

[00:23:41] Yeah. And both Edwin, I think Edwin or Charles States, it's like, oh, they were they died here and they knew right away. That was a calling sign. So they that's how it incited their inspection of the room to look for more clues and information.

[00:23:56] And then they find that lock box. And of course, Charles is like, Edwin's like, you know how to open this box? He goes, yeah, smash it. And he finally gets that was so funny. But they find the phones. Finally, and pictures in there.

[00:24:11] But they're regular pictures in there of Brad, I think. And then they there are those phones that were missing that they could never find, which they thought they were going to find out in the woods where they only found the condoms and the in the money.

[00:24:26] And the baseball bat crosses, which I thought was a nice touch. Yeah, that was that was like a memorial for them. Yeah, they do on like road sides for people who die from accidents and things of that nature.

[00:24:39] But it was a dragon stand party area was now their memorial. But I thought that other those cool such instead of just regular crosses because they were baseball jocks that they made them out of baseball bats. I thought that was cute. It is cute.

[00:24:52] And it is in reference to who and what they represented in high school. And that's how people remember them. But I did enjoy the fact that, you know, it kind of got moving. And what I liked about this episode, too, is that it moved faster than most.

[00:25:09] And it was a shorter episode by like maybe 10 minutes, I believe. Marin tried to kill Crystal because all of this just kept getting out of control. Like she never meant to kill those boys. Yes, you just wanted to knock them out and get the phone

[00:25:26] so that more people didn't see her naked, which is valid. Yes, listeners at home don't send out naked pictures because then you no matter how much you trust somebody, they're going to get it up, especially teenage boys. Yeah. Well, it's like Zach Efron says in the movie Baywatch.

[00:25:44] The Internet's forever. And I hate saying that it is true. Yeah. But yeah. Yeah. That's a little FYI from us. Please don't send anything. I mean, and Marin ended up after we found out what happened. She ended up turning herself in. Yes, which was really good.

[00:26:04] So maybe there's some sort of redemption for her regarding that. And if she does die, I think I think with some therapy and some jail time, she might end up being OK later on. Because she really didn't mean to do it.

[00:26:20] I don't think it got out of control. It wasn't something she meant to do. I don't think she's bad at heart like those boys. Like once they were put, you know, once that it came out. Yeah. We see at the end, the boys,

[00:26:35] they're true colors like they were just true jerk jocks. There definitely was a commentary on in this episode regarding the subject, especially with bullying and how these boys were treating people in school about suicide and and relations as well, too.

[00:27:00] Plus it's kind of like that, too, that online dating thing and being very, very careful, especially at Maxine. Beware of the stalkers. Yeah. Plus people don't change. I learned that the hard way from an ex recently. So that that ended a few a couple of months ago.

[00:27:24] And I was like, done. You have not changed. So I walked away again. Unscared. Yeah. I love that the boys had to hide when the they were our boys, that the dead boy detectors had to hide in the bag of holding

[00:27:40] so they didn't get dragged down to hell. Oh, yes. Yeah, both. Yeah, I love how Edwin's like, we need to get out of here right now. There was nowhere to go. So they just jumped into the bag of hold.

[00:27:50] I forget what they call it, but I'm calling it the bag of holding. It is a bag of holding. And it was also something for the fact that if you think about it, Edwin still has that little bracelet on him that

[00:28:01] the cat king had give him so he can't go to a different. He can't go through the windows or mirrors, mirrors or any reflective surfaces he can't go into. Yeah. Oh, speaking of the cat king, that was the very last thing was the two

[00:28:16] cats watching Edwin and Monty. And as it faded to black, you saw their four eyes turn into two eyes of the cat king. That was really cool. That was really brilliantly done. Yes, it was. So I think we're definitely seeing the cat king again next episode.

[00:28:35] And there was a comment. Oh, Jenny made a comment about she knows all of the eligible bachelorettes in town and they all have a lot of cats. Which probably made Edwin go, great. He wasn't unfortunately he wasn't there to hear it,

[00:28:52] but I thought Edwin is counting when she said that. I don't think he's going to finish his counting. Yeah. And along those like little throwaway lines that I just wanted to bring up when they were talking about taking the case. Crystal said something about no evil seagulls.

[00:29:12] So we have another reference to the evil seagulls. Well, it's so funny how even Ego says, like, I got a case of my own and it was about Jenny and Max, well, Maxi, regarding Maxi trying to find who has been sending

[00:29:31] genuine letters, more they had a lot more of crystal in this where she would touch things and get vision. So we saw that in the field. So much porn. Oh, yeah, so much porn. What was that? It was in the school, I think that was in the school.

[00:29:48] She was trying to read the lockers, which he riches mind. So they wouldn't even have to talk to him. And she's like, oh, God, so much porn. Well, it is a high school boy. So yeah. That's why so twitchy.

[00:30:03] But I mean, the other thing we had with Crystal was David is really, really trying to get back into her head. Yes. He's really. And if Edwin didn't like that last scene with him when the stuff came out of his mouth.

[00:30:18] Like if Edwin didn't or when Charles didn't snap her out of that, I don't know what would have happened. Like that's getting really scary. It is getting really scary because she keeps breaking, breaking. But yet we still don't have more information about Crystal.

[00:30:32] I'm waiting to see if we get a big reveal. Well, she doesn't know. Well, she has to get her memories back. But that's how we're going to get the reveals. However, she gets her memories back. Yeah, something something's got to give.

[00:30:43] And I'm really not happy with this X demon lover coming into her body or taking over and grabbing her away. I'm not. I don't like he goes back to hell. Hopefully we can get him back to hell.

[00:30:55] Yeah, we do get a little bit with the sprites in the beginning. Talking crap to me. Go. It's just their sense of humor. Yeah, guys, knock it off. They wanted my friends want to kill you. I thought it was cute.

[00:31:13] I like that they also like that she was invited, like, you know, they're all making their plans and Edwin's like, you're not coming with us. She's like, no, I've got my own plans. Like she got to be included, but she also doesn't feel like

[00:31:24] she has to do like she's very confident in who she is right now, which is awesome. Yeah, I have a little quote to that goes and then it's from Lydia going, oh, my God,

[00:31:34] you two need to be nicer to me because oh, it's about it was Nico to Lydia. You need to be nice and because my friends actively want to kill you, like you said. So they're like, so it's like your own case.

[00:31:47] Is it the mystery of the smelling like a grotesque fish? Little salmon breath bitch. Oh, my God. I thought that was cute. I pulled out a bullet because it was so quick and I was going to sit there and pause and type, you know, yeah.

[00:32:06] But I just love that because it's it's you need that comic. Like relief right there. And I think they play it off not that Edwin and Charles themselves or or even Nico do it just the same. But I think it's just outrightly just comical.

[00:32:27] So I'm glad that with some seriousness, we do get that. And I like how you picked up with the dead seagull. That's going to be an ongoing joke. I have a funny feeling. Do you have any more notes or should we just finish out with the quotes?

[00:32:44] Notes that I have literally are going to be the songs with any episode. So we got a song called Thunder by Z machine. Cigarettes after sex did a song on the episode called Apocalypse. And Kelly Eukus did melting.

[00:33:09] And of course, one of my favorites, Joy Division with the song Disorder. So that's the only one that I had heard before. Same here. But the thing is, is that, like I said, I always say listeners, they have a Spotify playlist.

[00:33:25] So if you want to build that up, I'll try to keep putting these in the notes so that way you guys could, you know, that way you have that sort of reference. And then that way, if you want to download them, however,

[00:33:39] whatever you want to do because that's a good way to, you know, seek out new music, I always say, because the, you know, certain shows arise, some sort of musical want because you heard it in the show or movie. But that's it all I had for now.

[00:33:57] Oh, one thing we didn't mention was Crystal had the We Are Better As Friends talk with Charles. Oh, yes. The talk everyone dreads like he went in for a smooch and she was like, no, we have to talk. He's like, oh, not going to be a good talk.

[00:34:13] And it wasn't. No, but it's kind of similar to how Edwin felt about Charles when he convinced them saying because Charles was given that whole thing of like at the very end and how angry he was and upset because he saw himself as one of those those two

[00:34:33] jocks. Yeah. And he thought he could be one of them. And he basically Edwin is just telling him, no, you're not anything like that, you and then that's when Charles goes to Edwin. And he goes, oh, thank you for being my mate. Oh, I love you.

[00:34:49] And then he goes in for a hug and you can see Edwin looking on. I'm going to get a kiss out of this. I don't even know. No, I think that was just the dawning that Edwin had that this is more. Just friendship than just a friendship.

[00:35:03] This is a full blown crush that I have. Yeah. This was. Yeah. You're talking. Decades at this point. Of having to put everything to the side. Yeah. Yeah, because I'll give anything else because I'll get into my quotes because I have a quote about that.

[00:35:23] I have nothing else to go ahead. All right. So he's like, I thought those feelings were never to be spoken of and that terrifies me. Like he was told to just keep those bottled up. Yeah. And now he's really scared about what it all means

[00:35:38] because there's all kinds of levels of what this all could mean. And even when Edwin was like, you know, after Edwin gave after Charles gave Edwin the hug and Charles is like, all right, well, what do you need me?

[00:35:50] And Edwin was like, no, no, let's just get you sorted first. Yeah. But once again, putting himself to the back. And then the other. Yeah. And it shows a lot about Edwin and who he is. It's showing how he cares about his friend and

[00:36:06] he's very giving, but not giving to himself, which at the very end too. It's like that's why he kind of. Was on a fence about Monty. And then the thing that started the hug was like bad guys do not worry about becoming bad guys.

[00:36:24] I say we all worry about who we are deep down. You, Charles Rowland, are the best person I know, which was super sweet. It's very true and it's very much shows how how much affection Edwin has for Charles.

[00:36:38] And I think it's like the most pure other than Edwin's typical snippiness of. Well, yeah. Well, he even says earlier is like, this is far too much emotion for one day. I am unaccustomed to it. Yeah, exactly. It's also coming from somebody who's

[00:36:58] I don't like using the typical snooty British, but it's. He's a typical snooty Brit. He's uptight. That's all. Trust me, there are people that are American and are uptight too. Just a simple. Let it be critical about people in England. But I've got two left.

[00:37:18] I've got Twitchy Richie tells Crystal, well, you're going to have to learn how to talk to the dead witch and she already can do that. Yeah. And then before the date went sideways, Jenny says, can you explain the concept of running to

[00:37:32] me? You'll need to speak very slowly. Which is how exactly how I feel about running. I just like that we got more about Jenny in this episode more than anything. I was really happy about that because there were so many questions of like, is she evil?

[00:37:50] Do we have to all fear her? Oh, and it this is also leading to my feelings that eventually she's going to see Edwin and Charles at certain points. Something's going to happen. Something's got to give.

[00:38:01] Well, I was thinking this could be her near death experience that she sees the boys now, but she doesn't see them at the end. They weren't there. They got they want to get brought inside when Charles showed up. Yes, it weren't we have since her near death experience,

[00:38:17] she hasn't been near the boys. So it's possible next episode she sees them. I'm hoping. I wonder how she'll take that. Is she going to charge them rent too? Well, they do get paid monetarily, apparently. Yes.

[00:38:39] That I think is interesting still was like, oh, we we we we paid you. Oh, I laugh because I love it because it makes me think of like when they get paid if they get like these ghosts who can't pay well,

[00:38:56] like it makes me think of in the movie Daredevil with Ben Affleck and John Favreau and having a conversation in the office. And he goes, our clients paid us in fish waiting for something like that to happen. It's like this. What are we going to do with this?

[00:39:15] Paid in Taffy. Yeah, that is true. And then you look first magic ball that for some reason Niko has. Yeah, I guess she wanted it. Yeah, but it's supposed to tell you your death. And what did it keep coming up as? It is unclear or is uncertain.

[00:39:32] Is uncertain. So we don't know when her death is yet, which is good. Which is good. So I think that's pretty cool. Yeah. You have any quotes or we cover them all? I think we come from them all. There's one piece of feedback on Facebook.

[00:39:45] Do we have any voicemails or anything else that you got? No, no voicemail, but I do not see the Facebook feedback. Our buddy Laura left us. Comment on the podcastica Facebook page. Oh, so I'll read it since I have it pulled up. It says, hi, Mark and Jamie.

[00:40:04] What a fun compliment to our darker main show in the game inverse. Sandman, however, Dead Boy Detectives is a bit more humorous and a bit more youthful. I love Edwin and Charles. Niko is so sweet and delightful. Jenny is edgy and rad and Esther is deliciously wicked.

[00:40:19] The only character I really haven't warmed up to is Crystal. I get that she's a young girl and she's been through some crazy trauma. But in a cast of dynamic characters, she just feels a little flat. In regards to last week's discussion of Lilith,

[00:40:32] there are many ancient stories of Lilith being a demon consort, the mother of monsters. I remember her story from an issue of Sandman, but I cannot remember the exact issue it was in. But in Neil's retelling, Adam has three wives.

[00:40:44] The first was Lilith wanted to assume dominant position when having sex with Adam, who was not on board with that. Thus, she was expelled from the garden and into the hinterlands, where she mated with a demon and gave birth to all the horrific beasts of the world.

[00:40:59] The second wife was molded of mud and disgusted Adam. So she vanished into the garden and eventually disintegrated into the earth. The final wife was Eve, who was more docile and yielding to Adam. So just a story of a fickle man, unappreciative of a strong woman. Very true.

[00:41:15] Yeah. So thank you, Laura. Yeah, thank you, Laura. I remembered that Lilith was Adam's first wife, but I really appreciate you giving us like the full backstory in the game inverse. Yeah, that is really helpful. Lara is very, very knowledgeable about a lot of things, including Sandman.

[00:41:34] I tried to get her on the podcast so many times. Yeah, I tried to see if she could do more with us here, but we're doing an interview with the vampire. So Lara has been very key. Yes, in that particular podcast with Danny and I.

[00:41:51] So she's bringing her expertise and her quick wit and knowledge for the Anne Rice universe for us. And she's very eloquent and I just love how she brings up certain stories and thoughts on that particular. But she's very knowledgeable of the Sandman universe as well.

[00:42:16] But I'm glad she sent up something here. Me too. But speaking of feedback, since we're about wrapped up, if you would like this to send us some feedback or just say hi, you can send us an email or voicemail message at talk at podcastica.com.

[00:42:34] I'm never going to get that right. That's OK. If you head to podcastica.com, there's a handy voice message link so you could tap that, record your voice and do that there. You can check us out on the regular social media network

[00:42:47] like Facebook and go to Facebook.com for it slash podcast. We're on Twitter at podcastica and Instagram at House podcast. So when you go to podcastica.com, while you're there, if you haven't already checked it out, there are other podcasts

[00:43:04] on the network, just like I just mentioned, we're doing what I like to call the Vamcast, but it's a companion podcast of with podcastica and adrenaline cinema podcast, which is my other podcast. And we're doing an interview with the vampire.

[00:43:20] I believe we're going to be covering Episode three this week at some point. And then there are other podcasts on there like Still Slaying, a Buffy first podcast. Welcome to the apocalypse. The cast of us, which is a whole back on the rewatch now. Yeah, the walking dead.

[00:43:43] Yeah, it's Jason and Lucy literally going back to the beginning of the walking dead and doing it right now. They're on season three. Yeah, and they're doing it with the lens. No, they're on season two. Season two. Yeah, that's right.

[00:43:59] I just remember they were doing with the lens of watching the series already. So yeah, if you haven't watched. Go back to the beginning of podcastica. Don't start. Don't pick up here for the rewatch because you'll get spoiled. Yeah, it's a spoiler full one at this point.

[00:44:13] But they're assuming that people have already watched the whole series and then are just going back and then giving their opinions and thoughts about specific episodes that they're covering. Like Jamie said, they're doing season two. You're right, because I remembered it because that's they just covered.

[00:44:28] Oh, I just listened to the one where they talked about they killed Randall or they were going to kill Randall. They were debating. Sorry. They they I was listening to the episode when you see Herschel in the bar and had Michael Jamon, Michael James J.

[00:44:47] Prames, I think, but I know him as Michael Webster. That's his other name, not a stage name. I got to meet him. He's a nice man. But that's when they just kill him out rightly in the bar. Yes. So yeah.

[00:45:05] And it's a good listen to because I like to listen to podcasts as I'm I'm traveling, even though I've probably watched the episode so many times. But I could picture my head of what they're talking about. Exactly. So but with us, this is fresh and new.

[00:45:20] So if you're listening to us and there's something that we brought up that you liked or that are triggering your thoughts of the actual show. I'm hoping that we help you with that. Or if you we trigger something in you where you could just say,

[00:45:35] hey, no, you got that wrong. Please let us know, especially with the feedback as we like that. But yeah, just go to podcast.com and check out all the other podcasts there. And that's it for this week. But next week, we're covering season one episode six,

[00:45:53] the case of the creeping forest. I'm not going to make any assumptions about what it's about. The creeping forest. I don't know. Reminds me of that one Japanese forest that's haunted where people don't go get out alive. Yeah. I was thinking that or the never ending story.

[00:46:15] Oh, God. I already could see it in my head. That horse. Well, I wasn't talking about that part. My head just went to it right away because everybody cosplays at it. Conventions. I saw a kid and like, why is this kid walking around with half a horse?

[00:46:34] And then he puts it on the floor and he's like pulling on the rain as if it's falling into the floor. It's like, no, that's just wrong. But anyhow, all right. Sweet dreams and unpleasant nightmares, everyone. Take care. Bye bye. Bye.
