[00:00:00] I've been looking for the wash woman every single night and nothing.

[00:00:11] I guess the green sea glass doesn't mean emotional stability.

[00:00:15] Yep.

[00:00:16] Sorry, we're actually here to block a demon from coming into my head.

[00:00:19] What do you have for that?

[00:00:21] Demons are tricky.

[00:00:23] Unless you were romantically involved with this demon.

[00:00:29] What does that have to do with anything?

[00:00:31] I'll take that as a yes, that's good news.

[00:00:33] Got the perfect item.

[00:00:35] It's called the light of heart.

[00:00:38] Sounds nice.

[00:00:40] If love wasn't a lie that brutally ends in violence.

[00:00:53] Hey listeners, welcome to the show.

[00:00:56] I'm Jamie.

[00:00:57] And I'm Mark.

[00:00:59] And this is a spoiler full podcast about the dead boy detective season one episode six,

[00:01:04] The Case of the Creeping Forest.

[00:01:06] Yeah, creepy forest.

[00:01:08] And the synopsis for this particular episode is a crisis forces Crystal to improvise on the job as Monty recruits the boys to locate his missing friend.

[00:01:18] But the eerie case isn't what it seems.

[00:01:21] Dum dum dum.

[00:01:25] If only we could use the whole NC ice thing going down for this,

[00:01:32] but that description at synopsis was very short and brief.

[00:01:36] Like we said, it's going to be a spoiler full podcast.

[00:01:39] But honestly, to let you listeners know, I only got to watch it once.

[00:01:44] Yeah, I only got to watch it once.

[00:01:46] And was it my favorite?

[00:01:48] No.

[00:01:50] But interesting events happened within it that did make me like it and enjoy it to some degree.

[00:01:56] And we'll probably get into that in general discussion, but that's literally what my initial thoughts were.

[00:02:02] We got a few awakening moments with Edwin Monty.

[00:02:08] Crystal is like a little bit information about Crystal.

[00:02:12] So there's a lot that's filled in with the information.

[00:02:16] Like we said, we always want questions answered and we're getting them answered as we watch every episode.

[00:02:22] So we do get that.

[00:02:24] But the case itself was not what I liked.

[00:02:28] And well, the case wasn't a real case that would have normally picked.

[00:02:32] Yeah.

[00:02:33] And then the issues with the night nurse was a bit confusing to me.

[00:02:37] But you probably will fix that for me as we discuss nightmares.

[00:02:42] Yeah, the night nurse, the night nurse, as I said, nightmares.

[00:02:45] I was like, wait, what nightmares?

[00:02:46] No, night nurse makes sense.

[00:02:47] That makes more sense now that my ears are working.

[00:02:53] Yeah, with her and the fish meeting that man.

[00:02:58] And I liked Kashi.

[00:03:00] She was really cool.

[00:03:01] He's very it's like she couldn't get a good read on the point.

[00:03:05] I hope we get more Kashi.

[00:03:06] I don't think we will.

[00:03:07] I think he is a one and done.

[00:03:09] But I liked him.

[00:03:10] I think he's a one and done too.

[00:03:11] But I did like the character and I love just how he questioned her constantly.

[00:03:16] But to me, it was like confusing.

[00:03:18] I'm like, why are we here?

[00:03:19] What is she doing there?

[00:03:20] What what's going on?

[00:03:21] Did I miss something?

[00:03:22] I probably did.

[00:03:23] But I was like, it made for interesting.

[00:03:26] Why don't we start with the night nurse inside of Angie?

[00:03:30] Yeah.

[00:03:31] So yeah, it's a good place to start.

[00:03:32] So we at some point in time hit that night nurse.

[00:03:36] Well, we know the night nurse got swallowed by Angie when she got when Charles punched her off the edge of the cliff for the lighthouse leapers.

[00:03:42] Yes.

[00:03:43] Yes.

[00:03:44] She got swallowed by Angie.

[00:03:45] Angie went back to the deep sea to go back to sleep because they also took the music box or whatever.

[00:03:53] I was supposed to put her sleep.

[00:03:54] So we cut to Angie or we cut to the night nurse now inside of Angie and not happy about it because she's only got a limited amount of time to get done what she needs to get done.

[00:04:05] In the waking world, which is days at this point, I think.

[00:04:09] Yeah, I forgot how I forgot how much time they were given.

[00:04:12] Was it 48 hours?

[00:04:13] I was like, I was like between 24 and 72 hours or something like that.

[00:04:17] Yeah, it was something.

[00:04:18] It was a matter of like two or three days.

[00:04:20] Yeah.

[00:04:21] And we know this is the day after the date, the bad date, but I don't know that every episode is a full day.

[00:04:26] Like, I'm not sure how time exactly that's that's the strange part about it.

[00:04:30] It's like what day is this?

[00:04:31] What is this the next day?

[00:04:33] Or is every case a day or is it like, do these happen throughout the day?

[00:04:38] Because between the lighthouse sleepers, we have the case of the two drag two dead dragons.

[00:04:45] Right.

[00:04:46] Which didn't I could see them dealing with that in a day.

[00:04:49] Yeah, that wasn't crazy long intense.

[00:04:52] And this one, this case actually started from part of the day.

[00:04:57] So it was the next day after Jenny's date with the crazy psycho butcher woman.

[00:05:03] And then literally it goes into evening again, because it goes into the evening.

[00:05:09] So she's running out of time.

[00:05:12] A lot of this is happening very quickly for them.

[00:05:15] Yeah.

[00:05:16] And she came to earth or this dimension or whatever, the waking world or whatever we're calling the world that these boys are living in.

[00:05:24] She came there almost at the end of the lighthouse sleepers.

[00:05:27] Like she wasn't there for that whole day.

[00:05:28] So if it's 72 hours, yeah, she's running out of time, but she did have some time.

[00:05:33] Yeah.

[00:05:34] But so she wakes up in there and she's pissed because I'd be a little pissed if I was swallowed by a giant fish too.

[00:05:42] Yeah.

[00:05:43] As nice as Angie seems to be according to everybody who knows her.

[00:05:47] But she wakes up.

[00:05:48] She starts trying to stab Angie to get out.

[00:05:50] And this guy, Kashi, who seems to live inside of Angie and is not mad about it, knocks some sense into her.

[00:05:58] And I really liked him.

[00:06:00] I think it's funny where she's like, he's like, well, I never, I never tried to leave when she asked you, I was there way out of here.

[00:06:07] He's like, well, no, I never tried to leave.

[00:06:09] And he's like, it's quite nice in here.

[00:06:11] Well, it's funny because he takes things as they are in life and he doesn't see any negatives.

[00:06:16] If you look at everything that's happened, he mentioned a bunch of things that happened.

[00:06:21] She goes, and you're not mad.

[00:06:23] You're not depressed about this.

[00:06:25] He's what I would strive to be like, just chill.

[00:06:32] Like, everything happens for a reason.

[00:06:34] Positive. Yeah.

[00:06:35] She tries to read him for trauma and he's like, I don't have any trauma.

[00:06:38] I've lived a lot of lives.

[00:06:39] I've learned a lot of things, but I'm happy with my life.

[00:06:42] And he has all those rings.

[00:06:43] I'm really curious.

[00:06:44] I think those rings are going to come back into play.

[00:06:47] But that I think he was being sarcastic when she's like, are you alive?

[00:06:51] Are you dead?

[00:06:52] And he's like, no, I'm just a very, very old man who's lived a lot of lives.

[00:06:55] I'm like, is he human?

[00:06:57] That's a good question.

[00:06:58] Well, we did get a little information of somebody that we thought was either dead or not human or whatever.

[00:07:04] And that's tragic Mac.

[00:07:05] Right.

[00:07:06] We finally got his story, but let's finish with it.

[00:07:09] Let's finish with the night nurse and Kashi.

[00:07:13] So, you know, he's she's like, look, I've got you know, she's very bureaucratic.

[00:07:17] She's like, I've got a job to do.

[00:07:18] It's got to get done.

[00:07:19] I got to get out of here and get this done.

[00:07:21] And he's like, well, maybe your way isn't the only way.

[00:07:25] Like, maybe there's other ways we can you can go about getting off of this out of this thing, like stabbing your way through it into the only thing that's keeping up from being crushed by the deep sea.

[00:07:35] Maybe is not the brightest way to get out of this fish.

[00:07:39] Maybe there's another way.

[00:07:40] Yeah.

[00:07:41] Violence is not the way to get things done.

[00:07:44] And according to Kashi, yeah, a forceful exit.

[00:07:48] Whereas maybe if you caress or do something of that nature to get out, how did there was an old story where somebody was trapped in a fish and how did they get out?

[00:07:59] I forgot.

[00:08:00] Wasn't it Jonah and the whale?

[00:08:02] Yeah.

[00:08:03] In the Bible?

[00:08:04] Yeah.

[00:08:05] And also Pinocchio Pinocchio as well.

[00:08:06] Yeah, that's it.

[00:08:07] That's the biggest one.

[00:08:08] But then again, I was taken from Jonah as well.

[00:08:10] You're saying Pinocchio is bigger than the Bible.

[00:08:12] The Christians are going to be mad at you, sir.

[00:08:14] I was born and raised Catholic.

[00:08:16] Fine.

[00:08:18] I had to read that Bible three times a day or whatever, three times a week, at least in Bible class when I was in high school.

[00:08:27] So fine.

[00:08:29] But it's more acceptable for the fact of how storytelling is within Pinocchio.

[00:08:34] Come on.

[00:08:35] It's meant to come across.

[00:08:36] So it gives you like some sort of positive tale or story of how he got out of it.

[00:08:42] And I believe he was like, I think Pinocchio tickled inside the whale to get out.

[00:08:47] Yep.

[00:08:48] And also finding Nemo.

[00:08:49] They were in a whale.

[00:08:50] That is true.

[00:08:51] A lot of stories.

[00:08:52] Nobody's ever been in a giant angler fish before.

[00:08:54] Yeah.

[00:08:55] So this was a slight twist on it.

[00:08:57] But yeah, there's a few stories of people being stuck inside of whales and asking nicely to leave and or finding their way out.

[00:09:03] The one thing I would be afraid if I was definitely the night nurse or Kashi was if the whale had acid reflux because they were where they were sitting inside.

[00:09:12] Yeah, it looks what I was trying to look.

[00:09:14] Kashi's got a lot of stuff in there.

[00:09:15] He's got a nice little house set up.

[00:09:17] Yeah.

[00:09:18] And it wasn't as slimy as I would think it would be.

[00:09:20] No, it wasn't.

[00:09:21] And you would think something else had to come in to feed angler fish.

[00:09:25] The bodies of the people who were jumping off the lighthouse.

[00:09:28] Yeah, but they had to come in somehow.

[00:09:31] So he had to see them come in saying hey, welcome.

[00:09:33] Maybe it's like a cow and their separate stomachs.

[00:09:35] I don't know.

[00:09:36] I don't know.

[00:09:37] It seemed to me they were more towards the mouth.

[00:09:39] Yeah.

[00:09:40] Yeah.

[00:09:41] The conversations we have people.

[00:09:44] Wayside track.

[00:09:46] But he gives her one of his rings and they talk to Angie and I like that he's like, you know, can you let my friend go and then go back to sleep?

[00:09:56] Like he doesn't want her eating more people.

[00:09:59] Yeah.

[00:10:00] Which is pretty.

[00:10:01] It's as if like she's the conscious conscience of the angler fish.

[00:10:05] Maybe.

[00:10:06] Yeah.

[00:10:07] But she was eating.

[00:10:08] Would she eat four, three or four people off the lighthouse?

[00:10:11] Yeah, that is true.

[00:10:12] But again, it's not her fault that she's a sea monster.

[00:10:15] Exactly.

[00:10:16] Like everybody said she's nice.

[00:10:18] So also speaking of sea monsters, we got mixed story finally.

[00:10:23] Yeah, tragic Mac.

[00:10:25] We got his story.

[00:10:26] Yeah, he was a walrus.

[00:10:28] The tail from what I got out of it was there was a father and daughter.

[00:10:35] They were on a boat.

[00:10:36] They were going fishing.

[00:10:38] Something happened to the daughter.

[00:10:39] The daughter was no, a storm rolled in and the dad sacrificed the daughter.

[00:10:44] That's exactly it.

[00:10:45] Okay.

[00:10:46] I knew that there was something that went into it.

[00:10:48] Something like I said, I only watched it once, but I remember he sacrificed her

[00:10:53] and her fingers were cut off as she was trying to get back on the boat.

[00:10:56] And they turned into all the war listers, basically mixed brothers and sisters.

[00:11:03] And that particular, that girl was named, I'm forgetting her name.

[00:11:09] Was it Sedna?

[00:11:10] Yes.

[00:11:11] And yeah.

[00:11:12] And yeah, they became, but she told them that they're not to go to land.

[00:11:18] It was something that was bad.

[00:11:19] No, she, everybody was having a good life in the, okay.

[00:11:22] So she was sacrificed by her dad.

[00:11:25] Yes.

[00:11:26] To get the glory of the gods.

[00:11:27] The gods were like, fuck this dude for killing your kid.

[00:11:30] We're going to make her a god.

[00:11:31] We're going to kill him and make his daughter a god.

[00:11:34] So she became the god of the ocean.

[00:11:36] Everything was good.

[00:11:37] Everybody was happy for whatever reason.

[00:11:39] Mick little mermaided it and was like, Hey, I want to be where the people are.

[00:11:44] And she's like, look, if you go there, you can't come back.

[00:11:48] Yes.

[00:11:49] And he's like, I still want to go see them dancing.

[00:11:52] I want to go where the people are.

[00:11:53] So she let him be a human.

[00:11:56] And he was like, Oh, stuck there since and he can't go back.

[00:12:01] And that's why he always says it's like I was a walrus and I was.

[00:12:05] Yeah.

[00:12:06] And it's true.

[00:12:07] And I liked that story the way they actually showed us in cartoon form.

[00:12:13] It was like Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

[00:12:16] Yeah.

[00:12:17] That was what it reminded me of.

[00:12:19] It was really, it was animated nicely.

[00:12:21] So it gave us a good vision.

[00:12:23] It's kind of how you teach a kid.

[00:12:25] Yeah, at times.

[00:12:26] But I thought it was really good and I liked the story too.

[00:12:30] But it makes me feel more for me.

[00:12:33] And that's the point in that tragic poor tragic Mick.

[00:12:36] Yeah.

[00:12:37] And then that's when Crystal and Nico get the little jewel, the heart.

[00:12:42] Yes.

[00:12:43] That takes away Crystal's powers.

[00:12:46] I had the name of it and I lost it.

[00:12:48] I had it at one point to I took.

[00:12:51] I actually handwrote my notes this time and I can't read my own handwriting.

[00:12:55] I hate I can never read my handwriting even if it's not cursive.

[00:13:00] Cursive is the worst because it's like what am I reading?

[00:13:03] Who wrote this gibberish?

[00:13:06] The light of heart.

[00:13:08] The light of heart.

[00:13:09] Yep, you are correct.

[00:13:11] Yeah, I liked that.

[00:13:12] But I liked that he was like unless you were romantically involved.

[00:13:15] And she's like, why does that matter?

[00:13:17] And for once, having a romantic entanglement actually helps instead of hurts the situation.

[00:13:21] That is true.

[00:13:22] Usually it makes things more complicated.

[00:13:24] It was nice that on the other side it made it easier.

[00:13:26] Yeah, but that was a toxic relationship anyway.

[00:13:30] But it made things easier.

[00:13:32] Usually it makes things more complicated.

[00:13:34] Yeah.

[00:13:35] The one thing that I did miss in this, the lack of Nico.

[00:13:38] We only seen her in the very beginning and we only see her at the very end with Jenny.

[00:13:43] Yeah.

[00:13:44] So we're going to bang out all the side stories and then we'll get into the meat of the episode.

[00:13:48] I like this method.

[00:13:49] Yeah.

[00:13:51] Yeah, Jenny and Nico and Nico, we see it starts with Nico taking down all the fun stuff in her room which stinks.

[00:13:59] Yeah, all her Japanese anime comics.

[00:14:04] Yeah.

[00:14:05] Her manga that you would see.

[00:14:07] She was getting rid of some of that stuff.

[00:14:08] We didn't see the sprites either.

[00:14:10] No, we didn't.

[00:14:11] Usually they talk like crazy.

[00:14:13] And I don't know if I missed it, but I didn't hear a reference to the evil seagull either.

[00:14:17] Nope, me neither.

[00:14:19] Lots of things missing.

[00:14:20] And that was something that always happens every episode so far.

[00:14:23] So maybe this was a one off.

[00:14:25] It may have been written on the board about the cases because I didn't read all the cases that were on the board.

[00:14:30] So it may have been there and I missed it.

[00:14:31] That's possible.

[00:14:32] Listeners, let us know.

[00:14:33] Yeah, I didn't write those down.

[00:14:35] Like I said, I only watched it once so I was taking notes as I was going.

[00:14:38] But yeah.

[00:14:39] Yeah.

[00:14:40] So I'm not going to say for sure that there wasn't a reference, but there wasn't a verbal reference.

[00:14:48] No.

[00:14:49] But yeah, so we see her.

[00:14:50] She's just sad.

[00:14:52] Like she doesn't think there's love in the world.

[00:14:55] It's all because she felt bad of what happened to Jenny because she tried to set her up and try to be a good friend.

[00:15:01] But in the end, she kind of takes herself away from the boys and crystal during this whole case.

[00:15:09] Which they could have used another human when it's this ghost eating fungus.

[00:15:15] Yes, which was created everybody.

[00:15:17] But to get back to Nico and Jenny, Jenny, the Jenny coming in to talk to her in a room.

[00:15:27] And it's literally it's like Jenny is, you know, Nico apologizes and it feels guilty about this.

[00:15:34] But, you know, Jenny winds up apologizing to Nico about how she treated her a little bit and also forgiving Nico.

[00:15:42] Yeah.

[00:15:43] For everything.

[00:15:44] Still keeping her at arm's length.

[00:15:46] Yes.

[00:15:47] Well, that's Jenny.

[00:15:49] Well, for a hot minute there, it looks like they were going to be better friends.

[00:15:52] I thought so too.

[00:15:53] But I'm sure in time there will be.

[00:15:55] I honestly, we're on episode six now.

[00:15:59] Six. So there's two more seven and eight more episodes.

[00:16:02] I wouldn't be surprised by the end of it.

[00:16:04] And like I said, we still don't know if Jenny can see the boys or not.

[00:16:08] Right. Because she's had her near death experience.

[00:16:11] So we have yet to encounter that.

[00:16:15] So that's going to be interesting.

[00:16:17] I'm hoping to see that at the end of the season and hopefully we'll get more people who sees both Edwin Charles.

[00:16:23] Right.

[00:16:26] And the one thing that I did enjoy is the fact that Crystal, I love how she tried to fake the fact that she had powers.

[00:16:36] Maybe you just didn't see.

[00:16:38] It's just a bare claw mark on the tree. That's it.

[00:16:46] Yeah. Yeah, I get why she didn't want to tell them right away.

[00:16:51] Yeah, she was ashamed. She felt useless and that was what.

[00:16:54] And I think she felt a little silly what she did too.

[00:16:57] Yeah. But the fact is, is she still able to see the other ghosts, especially in the very beginning of the forest when they go there?

[00:17:06] I like the fact that they were carving runes.

[00:17:08] So if anybody knows about those runes and what they do, let us know because I'm pretty sure I've seen them before.

[00:17:16] I don't know where probably, but they were doing something in the very beginning to go set and they were trying to warn them not to go in.

[00:17:23] And they said it was a warning.

[00:17:26] I don't know if it was a rune per se or like there's those hobo hobo markings that yes, back in the day they were put on fences.

[00:17:34] I don't know if it was that maybe. I don't know.

[00:17:36] It's a possibility. It's funny. I did this too. I sent out.

[00:17:39] I have a chart which I got from a movie. It was an Andrew Garfield movie, something of the blue sea or blue moon or something like that.

[00:17:50] It was up for an Academy Award a few years ago.

[00:17:53] But in the movie, they actually had somebody who had hobo like a hobo signs chart telling you what they had.

[00:18:03] And then I actually, yeah. Under the blue something.

[00:18:11] I don't know. Anyhow, you guys could correct me or if not, you could go research it yourself.

[00:18:16] It's an interesting movie. It's very weird and strange.

[00:18:19] But if you like Andrew Garfield like I do, it's pretty cool.

[00:18:23] But anyhow, they had that they had a whole chart in that particular movie.

[00:18:27] I sent that chart to just to digress a little to Yellow Jackets WTF Messenger thread because of all the stuff that's going in Yellow Jackets because you can see all the symbols and a lot of those symbols show up in there too, by the way.

[00:18:44] So if you guys are watching that show and listening to the podcast there, go check that out.

[00:18:51] You could easily find hobo markings online or just look for a hobo markings chart and it'll tell you exactly what all those symbols mean.

[00:19:01] But yeah, you might be right. That had to be like I said, I remembered seeing them somewhere before.

[00:19:06] I thought they were runes. But when it could be runes, but I my thought was hobo marketing.

[00:19:11] It makes sense. It makes a lot of sense because that guy looked like he was homeless.

[00:19:16] That was harping it. So you'd be surprised if he died on on the road or in the forest because he was alone and had no shelter.

[00:19:26] Or got eaten by a bear or whatever. Yeah, the firemen.

[00:19:30] It's safe to assume how they died, which is sad.

[00:19:33] Yeah, that is sad. But they they died doing what they loved.

[00:19:38] Yeah, the none of the ghosts seemed mad about being ghosts of those ghosts.

[00:19:42] They were just worried about people going into the forest and dying a second death.

[00:19:46] Yeah, yeah. Yeah.

[00:19:48] And and on top of that, we know that the boys get the job from Monte coming to him, saying coming to Edwin and Charles saying his friend Gladys is missing.

[00:19:59] Right. And they want to go look.

[00:20:01] And this is where she was. But this was obviously Esther's trickery to get the boys to where they need to, to do something vicious overall.

[00:20:10] And through them going to the forest, they see a lot of things. Monte putting what was it? The fungus on the.

[00:20:22] Was it fungus? I'm forgetting what it was. I was all yellowy and everything.

[00:20:27] He just put it on there and he dumped it on there as a clue.

[00:20:30] Never the look like pixie dust to me. Yeah, I wasn't sure what that was.

[00:20:35] So, you know, he wasn't touching the fungus because that wasn't.

[00:20:40] Yeah, but he basically it was a ruse in order to get the boys somewhere where Esther could do something dastardly.

[00:20:47] Yeah. He didn't realize what was going to happen to them.

[00:20:51] He didn't realize they'd be taken away forever. Yes, because I think he's still really, really cared about Edwin.

[00:20:57] Oh, we know this and he just he exposes his feelings for Edwin.

[00:21:03] And he states is because even Edwin says the first time I kissed anybody and same thing with Monte and Monte opens himself up to Edwin does the same thing.

[00:21:17] But Edwin feels betrayed. But then rightfully so.

[00:21:22] Well, yeah, then we get the cat king coming in and telling the whole story.

[00:21:27] Correct. And saying, no, you're in love with a crow.

[00:21:31] Well, he's not. Edwin's not in love with him. He likes him.

[00:21:36] He likes him more as a friend and someone who's helping him come to grips with his feelings.

[00:21:42] Yeah, but also the cat king being jealous as he is about that because you can see the cat king's jealousy within that conversation.

[00:21:50] Yeah. And you could tell Edwin kind of figures out it's like, oh, you put this thing on me to keep me here for you.

[00:21:57] Yeah. He was like the second kiss is better. And I'm like and Monte is like Edwin's like, nope.

[00:22:03] But the cat king made a threat. He's like, if you walk away, you are never leaving this place.

[00:22:07] Correct. Which we find out not to be true.

[00:22:11] But he's got the bracelet on in hell. Maybe that's how sorry I'm jumping to the very end.

[00:22:16] That just clicked. Oh, my God. That just clicked. It just clicked.

[00:22:20] It just clicked. Oh, this might be helpful. Yeah.

[00:22:24] Might be helpful at the very end of the show. Oh, oh, I didn't think of that.

[00:22:30] Like, I'm wondering if Edwin who still can't leave, but he gets thrown into wherever.

[00:22:36] But he's that bracelet makes him have to come back.

[00:22:40] Yeah. Whoever he's with, if he holds on to them, they could go with them like if Charles.

[00:22:45] Yeah. I mean, they've got to get to hell. Yes. So one thing. OK. So we're kind of OK.

[00:22:51] Good. We're way out of order. We're all over the place. But this is more fun.

[00:22:54] Yes. So the night nurse said while she was in the belly of the thing that everyone's.

[00:23:02] And she's inside Angie Angie, that everyone's afterlife is unique.

[00:23:07] But hell seems to be universal. Correct. I'm confused.

[00:23:14] Like, how is everyone's unique? Or is there just a caveat to that?

[00:23:17] Like in a little asterisk that's like unless you're bad.

[00:23:20] I think if you're bad, it's a straight.

[00:23:23] You go to this. We've already seen hell at one point in the same universe.

[00:23:28] Yeah. And we've seen demons and we've seen people get sent to hell like this ground opening up and being taken, swallowed in or grabbed or with hands or tentacles or whatnot.

[00:23:43] Yeah. And death. But. Yeah. That doesn't seem to come for them for the.

[00:23:47] But death ushers in and walks them into a better place at every time.

[00:23:52] So there we don't know what death does. Death says just the same thing like it's this is when you find out.

[00:23:59] Hmm. But I think everybody's head is different.

[00:24:04] I think that's what it is. Everybody's have been or their eternal life after life has ended for them if they were good is different for the fact that it gives them their own version of what heaven would be to them, their own universe or their own life.

[00:24:22] I don't think there's heavily anything interactive within it.

[00:24:28] Perhaps that's it. Yeah. But yeah, I just stuck out to me.

[00:24:31] It's like everyone's is different. Like unless you're bad. But nobody ever talks about the bad.

[00:24:35] And we haven't really seen entirely all that's bad.

[00:24:38] You know, unless you see a hellraiser movie and then they had the whole thing of like where Edwin is supposed to be.

[00:24:45] But it was clicking back and forth between good and hell.

[00:24:50] Like it was there. She's like a clerical error. I've never seen that.

[00:24:53] And then she looks at her ring. She has a thought back to Kashi and she's like, OK, you can stay while we figure this out.

[00:25:05] You say together while we figure this out. But you have to stay at the lost and found department.

[00:25:10] And before they can go there. Hell finds Edwin, which sucks.

[00:25:17] And it's the timing, the timing of this bitch showing up.

[00:25:22] It's probably for the best because Charles definitely fancies Crystal.

[00:25:30] Oh, yes. We know about to profess his love for Charles.

[00:25:37] And that's going to mess up that friendship. Yeah, there's no way it doesn't.

[00:25:47] How do I why do I have this sneaking feeling there's going to be a big time argument between Edwin and Charles?

[00:25:55] It's going to break them up from the detectives and then at the very end they come together in some way.

[00:26:03] I don't know if it well right now. No matter what, even if Charles starts thinking about it and realizing what Edwin might say, might have been saying, which I don't think he will.

[00:26:17] But Edwin's going to get Charles like that's period end of story. He's going to find a way to get Charles.

[00:26:23] We've got a super powered crystal now. Yeah. Well, she lost her powers and then got them back tenfold.

[00:26:30] So we've got a super powered crystal who's going to hell, who's going to help however she can.

[00:26:36] Yes. We've got the cat king who now has a tracking device on Edwin or on Edwin Charles no matter what is going to go find his friend.

[00:26:46] Even if his friend but what I see is his friend telling him, hey, look, I love you in that special kind of way.

[00:26:52] And Charles just being like, I see him being nice about it and being like, hey, look, we're just we're just mates.

[00:27:02] But I don't see Edwin taking that well. I see Edwin acting weird.

[00:27:10] I don't see I don't see a big blow up. I just see Edwin acting weird and not talking to him as much anymore.

[00:27:16] Yes, he'll distance himself to him.

[00:27:21] We get a little bit of an awakening of Edwin about crystal because how crystal goes, I thought I was beneficial in this and that and the other.

[00:27:31] And he goes, no, we need you. And I was surprised about that conversation.

[00:27:36] He showed his appreciation for crystal at that point.

[00:27:39] It's gone beyond that point of like him feeling that she's a nuisance or annoying in any way to your necessity.

[00:27:48] You're you're a necessary component to this group.

[00:27:51] You're doing what you need to do for us and to get our jobs done.

[00:27:55] And, you know, you are a friend. So it's like he but he still has that feeling of like you're taking Charles away from me.

[00:28:07] Yeah. But, oh, oh, I'm sorry. I can't believe I didn't even think of the tracking device that's on Edwin.

[00:28:17] Yes. Well, that is going to be interesting.

[00:28:19] Yeah, it's gonna be interesting how it plays out in the next episode.

[00:28:22] Yeah, because, I mean, we're talking demons. We're talking hell.

[00:28:25] We're talking probably more powerful than a cat king.

[00:28:31] So I'm thinking we're going to get something bigger from the Sandman universe because we're at the penultimate episode of the season.

[00:28:38] Yeah, I wonder if we meet Lucifer. That'd be interesting.

[00:28:41] Be interesting. So obviously, listeners, we have not watched ahead.

[00:28:46] So I'm very excited to watch the next episode.

[00:28:49] We're watching this episodically. So we like the idea of doing that.

[00:28:53] I'm excited to see that way.

[00:28:56] It's like sometimes if I watch things and I binge them, like lately it's like I could watch shows that I used to watch all the time.

[00:29:04] Like right now on Netflix is how I met your mother. So I have that season playing constantly.

[00:29:10] So I just goes into the next set of next which is beneficial for that because there are only like 25 minute episodes.

[00:29:17] I'm like, I'm going to get on in the background. It goes kind of quick and I always seen them once through for every season.

[00:29:23] But with this one, you have to actually sit and concentrate.

[00:29:27] Yeah, there's a lot. I mean, you can sit and watch the show and kind of like not dig into it as much as we do.

[00:29:33] But I like waiting a week. I like talking about it.

[00:29:36] Yeah, because if it was just went to the next episode, I would have been like, oh my God, he went to hell.

[00:29:40] How are they going to get, you know, Oh, or just through it.

[00:29:43] And it's like, well, we talked about this. It's like to me, it's like you're going to binge watch the whole thing and you're going to get things mixed up.

[00:29:51] But if you dissect it per episode, yeah, the anticipation for the next episode comes into play.

[00:29:59] Like I always say, it's like it's kind of like back in the day for water cooler talk of whatever show you were watching, whether it be The Walking Dead.

[00:30:09] Lost Lost or The West Wing, whatever show that was going on at the time.

[00:30:17] That was huge and popular with Netflix and them dropping everything down in one shot sucks because it's like you have to like hold back temptation.

[00:30:29] Amazon we get away with like you get the first two episodes drop and then you have it episodically after that for every week,

[00:30:36] which I can't wait for to when we start to cover the boys in July.

[00:30:40] Because that's so many shows coming back in the summer. I'm so excited about. But that's another story.

[00:30:45] Yeah. All right. So the meat.

[00:30:49] So the meat of the episode is this is Esther has planted what we at first think is just a mushroom that eats ghosts.

[00:31:05] It's like this simple little thing, easy to get rid of pain in the butt, but easy to get rid of.

[00:31:09] And the boys get the stuff, they throw it and then they're like, oh, so then they look into it more.

[00:31:14] And this is actually a multi dimensional thing that feeds on energy kind of like the wind reminded me very much of the Weeping Angels from Doctor Who.

[00:31:26] Yes. Yeah.

[00:31:28] Yeah. Were they if you turn your back real quick, they could suck your soul. They take you away and you don't exist at all.

[00:31:34] If you even blink, but they feed off. Well, as we found out later, they just you don't die.

[00:31:39] You get sent to another time and they feed off your potential of that potential of what could have happened at the first time.

[00:31:45] Correct. Yeah. So they feed off of energy. So so does Mr. Teeth. What's his name?

[00:31:52] Introducing Teeth Face.

[00:31:54] That was it. I have it because they had the title quote when she introduces them. Yep, there it is.

[00:32:00] And it's like a big fungus with tree with teeth. It's a big mushroom with T.L.

[00:32:06] I liked him, though. I thought the I thought he was cute.

[00:32:09] And also. So Esther at this point has gotten mad at Marty and turned him back into a crow, which is some bullshit.

[00:32:21] Yeah, it is bullshit that he got turned back into a girl.

[00:32:24] I mean, granted, he wasn't really happy with being human with all these annoying human feelings.

[00:32:28] So I get that. Yeah, he couldn't control himself.

[00:32:31] So maybe so maybe he's happier this way.

[00:32:34] Maybe it's not some bullshit. Maybe he's happier this way.

[00:32:36] But I feel like Edwin still needs a friend and it's not going to be Monty anymore.

[00:32:41] Now that Monty is back to being a crow, at least he's not dead.

[00:32:43] Maybe he's not dead. He's still a crow.

[00:32:46] He could always turn back eventually, depending on the magic.

[00:32:51] Yeah, but Edwin still has another person he could rely on and talk to.

[00:32:57] Nico, because him and Nico, that's yeah, had a little rapport at one point when it was was it last episode or the episode before that?

[00:33:08] But they they had that rapport where they were investigating things together and he showed to like her as well.

[00:33:16] So I wouldn't put put anything off of Edwin not finding somebody to be a companion to help him through his lack of love or want or unrequited love for somebody.

[00:33:30] Yeah, OK, so I'm going to go with Monty's happier this way because he was just saying how he didn't ask to be human and all of these feelings.

[00:33:42] So we're going to say Monty's happier being back to being a crow, just like Mick would be as a walrus.

[00:33:45] So maybe it's not so bad. Maybe it's not some bullshit.

[00:33:48] OK, I feel better about this. I'm glad we talked about it.

[00:33:53] But so Esther's got this giant mushroom and she is the boys are getting sucked into it.

[00:34:03] And then Crystal finds her powers because she knocks Crystal out and we get the prophecy from the last episode,

[00:34:15] which was also like that didn't float around nearly as long as I thought it was going to be.

[00:34:18] We saw the prophecy come true. Yes, which is like when the crow or when the bird cries, look into yourself.

[00:34:27] Correct. And she goes in. She's one of those three eyeballs in her head, which I always thought like that.

[00:34:34] I don't know why I find the eyeballs to be cool. So she jumps into the eyeballs.

[00:34:38] She finds her ancestors, which is awesome. Yes, sir.

[00:34:41] I think of like her great grandmother and then everybody else was all the other ancestors around.

[00:34:45] It was like all the women in her line going back. Yeah.

[00:34:49] And then there's a tree, which is her, which is basically her and how strong it is.

[00:34:55] How beautiful, which was sweet.

[00:34:58] And them telling her basically that you lost this power.

[00:35:03] Yes, but you have other powers available to you.

[00:35:07] You just have to look within to get that and utilize that.

[00:35:10] And then she does. Yeah, and I like out there like you're really powerful.

[00:35:15] Like, I don't mean to brag, but we are super special and really powerful.

[00:35:21] I did like when she told the ancestors the story and her what they were like, oh, that's a new one.

[00:35:34] And then she comes back to the present and just goes ape on Esther.

[00:35:47] Like, she goes, whoa, she goes hard on her like that was impressive.

[00:35:55] It was impressive.

[00:35:58] And then she realizes, remembers that she's got powers, just sticks her hand in that dirt and is like, all right, mushroom, this is not where you belong.

[00:36:07] Don't listen to her. She doesn't have your best intentions.

[00:36:10] Go back where you belong in the mushrooms like, OK, and for good measure, I'm going to take her with me.

[00:36:14] You have your boys. I'm going to take this bitch with me.

[00:36:18] Now, she's not dead. She's not dead. She's in another dimension, everybody.

[00:36:22] So we can see her again. I don't know if we'll necessarily see her this season, but we can see her again.

[00:36:28] So it might be the end of that story about Esther and her being a foil in their plans throughout all these, you know, cases that they're working on.

[00:36:39] So we don't have Monty involvement. Probably we don't have Esther involvement as well as like leading Monty in it.

[00:36:46] So you never know. The crow might just hang around Edwin for all we know.

[00:36:51] It's possible. So it's a possibility that Edwin will have a crow companion with them.

[00:36:59] And at least the town is all the little girls and younger women in the town are now safe from Esther for at least a little while.

[00:37:05] Yeah, they and we all know what the reasoning for her.

[00:37:09] She kind of admitted it about what the kids were for and what their focus was.

[00:37:13] She fed them the snake to keep herself young. Correct.

[00:37:16] Yeah. Yeah, I can see the I could see Monty hanging around as a crow.

[00:37:23] I don't know if they have the ability to talk to him or not. We'll find out.

[00:37:27] Yeah, that'd be funny because crows do have a link to the dead.

[00:37:31] So that would make sense. That is true.

[00:37:35] As we know from Obar, J.

[00:37:39] So that'll be interesting to see.

[00:37:41] And crows or ravens in the Sandman universe can definitely talk at least to death. Correct.

[00:37:49] And people in the dreaming.

[00:37:51] So it's not like it's out of the realm of possibilities that we still have Monty just in crow form.

[00:37:58] That'd be fine. I have no problem with that. I'm not hating on the character itself.

[00:38:03] No, he won. He was acted very well and he was just a very confused.

[00:38:09] He was confused. And then he really loved Edwin. Yeah.

[00:38:17] And, you know, he didn't realize just how evil Esther was.

[00:38:22] Yeah, he was innocent because he's pretty much brand new.

[00:38:28] Exactly. And he didn't think he was being utilized or used in some way.

[00:38:32] And then his his feelings for Edwin was genuine.

[00:38:36] Absolutely. 100 percent. They were genuine.

[00:38:38] But he he also got hurt.

[00:38:42] And when there was a chance to get back at the person who hurt him, which coming from a place of hurt, you know, people do that.

[00:38:48] Yeah, they lash out. It happens all the time.

[00:38:51] Yes.

[00:38:56] And he just didn't realize how far Esther was going with all of it.

[00:39:04] Well, she's out of the way now.

[00:39:09] Actually, that's all my that's all I had as far as notes and thoughts.

[00:39:13] I think we covered everything.

[00:39:16] Yeah. The only thing I have notes wise and this is my continuous thought because I love music.

[00:39:23] But I'll just leave this in here just for you.

[00:39:25] You elaborate a little bit more, Jamie.

[00:39:28] The songs in this particular episode was Who's Your Girl by the Mr.

[00:39:33] Eanes and Attack by R.A.

[00:39:38] R.A. And then Shakedown by the infamous Stiffs.

[00:39:44] So, like I said, if you guys want to add that to your music collection, you can.

[00:39:50] I'm pretty sure whoever created the website that I get these from, because even if you do dead boy detectives, music on episode, whatever this one will always show up.

[00:40:01] But it has it for all the episodes. So you can research that.

[00:40:04] That way you could go online and check those out.

[00:40:07] If you're a person like me is nifty and uses YouTube and they have real player download or you could easily download the videos or whatever from YouTube and just, you know,

[00:40:17] rip the audio from it, from however you want to.

[00:40:20] And then just create your own little personal playlist on your phone or if you're like me in old school and have an iPod, you can do that just so you have it at your ready beckon call.

[00:40:32] But Spotify has a tendency because I do free and I get ads. So I don't like that.

[00:40:37] But I'm sure there is there is this Spotify playlist from dead boy detectives out there.

[00:40:42] I'm sure there is one thing.

[00:40:45] And the one thing we didn't discuss was David coming back and Charles not David not being able to get into her head, but still being able to fuck with her.

[00:40:54] Yes. Setting up all those things.

[00:40:56] And then Charles hearing it, being able to counter it, counter everything he was saying and mean it.

[00:41:03] And then just smashing him with the magic cricket bat.

[00:41:07] So I wonder. Yeah, that was awesome.

[00:41:10] So I'm wondering if this might be the maybe close to the last we see of David now that Crystal knows she can.

[00:41:17] Everything's within her. Well, we'll probably get once we eliminate David's eliminated completely.

[00:41:25] We're going to get Crystal getting her memories back.

[00:41:28] I wonder if they're in her. Maybe they're in one of the other eyeballs.

[00:41:31] They have to be because she went into one which like literally gave her an insight to her ancestry and great grandmother and her power.

[00:41:41] I'm sure the other is memories and then untapped potential possibly because you got three eyeballs.

[00:41:50] Yeah, so possibly. I mean, who knows? But yeah, no, that's a good that's a good thought on it.

[00:41:55] Now that's all my notes.

[00:41:59] You have any quotes?

[00:42:02] Just right on that one. I'll always hit a demon with a cricket bat for you.

[00:42:10] Yeah, I had that one down too. That's pretty cool.

[00:42:14] Yeah, that was good. Or you got Charles going to the Esther Bester gets my vote or the Crystal room, Crystal Shroom persuasion.

[00:42:28] I like that one. And then everyone just pipes back on how about the crystal method?

[00:42:34] Sounds a little like crystal meth, so I think maybe they should not do that one.

[00:42:38] Well, well, Chris, well, as soon he says, how about the crystal method makes me think the crystal method.

[00:42:47] The group or the the type of music that I like techno music from that band or group.

[00:42:57] But yeah, what do I have here?

[00:43:01] The afterlife is far superior to anything we have available here.

[00:43:05] So you've seen it and know it's unique to each soul.

[00:43:10] So you can't know it's better. That's irrelevant.

[00:43:13] And this is the conversation between the night nurse and Kashi.

[00:43:19] And that's because my next quote was a Kashi quote.

[00:43:21] Good. Imagine thinking that there was only one way to do any one thing.

[00:43:28] How difficult would life be?

[00:43:31] I have one last one that would be from Edwin saying, hmm, this luminescence is spectral.

[00:43:42] Could be signs of a type of umphalitis and nidiformis.

[00:43:48] So I actually had a I copied pasted this because it's direct quote.

[00:43:53] And they say, oh, that's fancy talk for ghost fungus, Charles says.

[00:43:58] It goes highly toxic, but only to ghosts.

[00:44:01] We should keep our distance. And Charles goes, it's like the case of the ghastly greenhouse in it.

[00:44:07] Yeah, I want to know about the case of the ghastly greenhouse.

[00:44:11] You don't want to get this one in your eyes.

[00:44:14] Real rough go blindness pain drives you mental.

[00:44:17] That must be what happened to Gladys and the others.

[00:44:20] So that was when they were investigating at the very beginning,

[00:44:23] when they were looking at that little stuff that Monty had dropped onto the bushes.

[00:44:28] And then the last one I have is if as from Nico in Tragic Nick store, Tragic Mick.

[00:44:36] If love wasn't a lie, if yeah, sounds nice.

[00:44:40] If love wasn't a lie, that brutally ends in violence.

[00:44:45] Because now she thinks all love is going to end up in violence.

[00:44:48] All right. Well, that's all I had with boats.

[00:44:55] So to. But we didn't get any Facebook feedback, any emails, but we did get voice feedback from from our friend Steve for last week's episode for last week's episode.

[00:45:10] So we're going to play that. I haven't talked to Steve this week. We are still yet to record.

[00:45:14] I've had a bumpy past two weeks, everybody, just to let you know.

[00:45:18] But that's why I've been behind.

[00:45:20] And if I apologize, if some of these podcasts are getting out a little later than usual or just popping up at a thin air or we do spontaneous.

[00:45:30] You have a life. Yeah, I know. Right.

[00:45:32] Complicated or otherwise.

[00:45:34] Well, it was funny, too, for the fact that we recorded Interview with a Vampire and I swore we told everybody Wednesday night instead of Thursday night.

[00:45:45] And then literally on Thursday morning, I get a the email from Sam with her voice, voice.

[00:45:54] Well, it's like, oh, darn. So it's like, I had to think before I upload it, the episode if I should put that in.

[00:46:00] But we'll see. We might keep it for the next episode for next week.

[00:46:04] So that way we have something because we do go attend a little longer on that particular podcast in this one.

[00:46:11] But nonetheless, we got some feedback for last episode for from Steve Brown.

[00:46:17] And I'm going to play that right now.

[00:46:20] Hello, Mark and Jamie. This is Steve.

[00:46:22] And this is for Dead Boy Detectives Season one, Episode five, The Curse of the Two Dead Dragons.

[00:46:30] OK, the let's be friends for now speech.

[00:46:33] Yeah. The second worst speech you can hear from somebody you like.

[00:46:37] I guess it's not the worst, though. OK, there's the mention of evil seagulls again.

[00:46:41] The sprites are just they're just so snarky.

[00:46:45] So now we understand what's going on with the witch.

[00:46:48] She can live forever, but she doesn't stay young.

[00:46:51] She keeps aging. That's a bad curse right there.

[00:46:55] Oh, you know, this letters don't disappoint me.

[00:46:58] I understand high school boys.

[00:47:02] Fine. This is all just porn.

[00:47:04] Did you listen to this week's Buffy?

[00:47:06] But are still slaying about your shot in Sanders.

[00:47:09] They had thoughts.

[00:47:11] Gay suicide pact. What is this? Heathers?

[00:47:13] Oh, that bag of holding Felix the magic cat bag.

[00:47:18] I love it. It was Felix the cat's magic bag.

[00:47:22] Yeah, there we go. Oh, these two.

[00:47:24] Ginny and what's the coffee barista's name?

[00:47:27] I don't know, but they're so cute together.

[00:47:29] OK, boys, not to not to warn you,

[00:47:32] but you just think that this girl Marin is a murderer

[00:47:36] and you left Crystal with her alone.

[00:47:38] And now we get the whole truth from Marin and Richie helped her move the bodies.

[00:47:44] Wow. I agree, Edwin.

[00:47:45] This is far too much emotion for one day. My bad.

[00:47:48] She's not a barista. She's the librarian.

[00:47:50] OK, I still remember her name though.

[00:47:53] Oh, how do you know what she wears to bed?

[00:47:56] Oh, she's a little over the top.

[00:48:00] Yeah, this is weird and strange.

[00:48:03] Not cute anymore. Librarian girl. Her name is Maxine. Got it.

[00:48:07] OK, definitely not cute anymore.

[00:48:09] Now it's, you know, Glenn Close in What Was That Movie with Michael Douglas?

[00:48:15] I can't remember the title.

[00:48:16] Oh, and she just tripped and stabbed herself through the wall.

[00:48:21] Gruesome. Did they hide inside the bag? They must have.

[00:48:26] I like that bad guys don't worry about being bad guys.

[00:48:29] OK, on to next week.

[00:48:31] All right. Thanks, Steve.

[00:48:34] That was that was really good.

[00:48:35] I liked reliving that episode.

[00:48:38] Steve's like play by play, but especially the date like, oh, that's a little too far.

[00:48:42] Oh, oh, oh, no, she's crazy.

[00:48:48] But that's it's like he basically says it verbally of how we all felt while watching that.

[00:48:53] So which I do enjoy, but he does that on a lot.

[00:48:58] And he did mention another podcast on podcast. Everybody mentioned still slaying a Buffy verse.

[00:49:03] So he mentioned that. So if you haven't been following that, check that out.

[00:49:07] But, yeah, there was still reminiscence of with earshot to it's like reading people's minds and stuff like that.

[00:49:17] That was an interesting one. But take that with a watch that with a green assault because there's a few trigger things that happened within that.

[00:49:24] And that's not to make a pun because it talks about suicide.

[00:49:27] It talks about stuff with guns as well, because that was that episode was delayed because of Columbine that year when it came out.

[00:49:39] So but the episode was interesting and Penny Cara and Cara actually did a lot of really good callbacks to that in discussion.

[00:49:51] But other than that, we pretty much wrapped everything up within this particular episode.

[00:49:58] But to submit your feedback like Steve did, you just you could if you want to just leave any sort of feedback that is or just say hi, you can send us an email or a voice message at talk at podcast.com.

[00:50:49] House of the Dragon or what's that one going to be called? Jamie, I'm forgetting.

[00:50:55] That's what house podcasting came from. OK, I think it is the name came from.

[00:51:00] I think, yeah, it is. But yeah, that was the original game of Thrones.

[00:51:04] But they're going to be covering House of the Dragon now when it comes back on air.

[00:51:28] I'm guessing a stairway down to hell. Yeah, well, ain't a stairway to heaven, that's for sure.

[00:51:33] Maybe. Pleasant dreams or unpleasant nightmares, everyone. Take care. Bye bye. Bye.
