[00:00:03] [SPEAKER_06]: Podcastica

[00:00:27] [SPEAKER_09]: A podcast dedicated to the show.

[00:00:33] [SPEAKER_09]: The Last of Us.

[00:00:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Hey everybody, I'm Jason.

[00:00:40] [SPEAKER_05]: And I'm Lucy.

[00:00:41] [SPEAKER_02]: And we're going to go through your feedback for Walking Dead, Darryl Dixon, Season 1, Episode 1, LEM PADU.

[00:00:47] [SPEAKER_02]: And some of this feedback is from right after you guys saw the episode and some of it is responding to the podcast that we just put out a couple of days ago.

[00:00:56] [SPEAKER_05]: Nice mix.

[00:00:56] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and if you guys want to join in on any of that, you can send an email or a voice message to talk at podcastica.com or you can join our Facebook group at facebook.com.

[00:01:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Slash group slash podcastica.

[00:01:09] [SPEAKER_02]: I'll put all that in the show notes or you can go to podcastica.com if you forget any of it.

[00:01:14] [SPEAKER_02]: It's all there.

[00:01:16] [SPEAKER_02]: And just a reminder, whoever gives us the best zombie sound with a French accent gets a gold star.

[00:01:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Right?

[00:01:22] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:01:23] [SPEAKER_02]: That's the first time we've said that.

[00:01:25] [SPEAKER_02]: But why?

[00:01:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Seriously, want it please?

[00:01:26] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I think so.

[00:01:27] [SPEAKER_05]: I don't think you can make it happen.

[00:01:29] [SPEAKER_05]: Make it happen.

[00:01:29] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah.

[00:01:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Let's hear it.

[00:01:31] [SPEAKER_02]: I want to hear it.

[00:01:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.

[00:01:32] [SPEAKER_02]: But first here's some news.

[00:01:38] [SPEAKER_02]: Infected news.

[00:01:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Just a couple of quick things I wanted to let you guys know this is actually some podcastica news that we now have a Buffy the Vampire Slayer podcast.

[00:01:48] [SPEAKER_02]: It's called Still Slaying a Buffy vs. podcast with Penny and Kara who are both huge fans of the show and wanted to do it.

[00:01:57] [SPEAKER_02]: They're covering only their favorite episodes, so they're skipping season one entirely and they've got a selection of episodes for season two picked out and they'll go from there.

[00:02:05] [SPEAKER_02]: So if you're a fan, I recommend checking that out at podcastica.com.

[00:02:08] [SPEAKER_02]: I know a lot of people on the group were excited that someone was covering Buffy.

[00:02:12] [SPEAKER_02]: I never got into that show.

[00:02:14] [SPEAKER_02]: I do really like just, I like Joss Whedon's writing.

[00:02:18] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't like Joss Whedon.

[00:02:19] [SPEAKER_02]: I like his writing.

[00:02:22] [SPEAKER_05]: I 0 for 2 on that.

[00:02:24] [SPEAKER_05]: I like neither his writing nor him, but it's awesome to have a Buffy show.

[00:02:29] [SPEAKER_05]: I think that's a really cool cultural touchstone and I am excited for it.

[00:02:32] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it's often called the best show ever and I'm like, man, I should check that out.

[00:02:38] [SPEAKER_02]: But it just seems kind of overwhelming with how many episodes there are.

[00:02:41] [SPEAKER_02]: And also one of those shows where you have to slog through a season that wasn't very good to get to the good stuff.

[00:02:50] [SPEAKER_02]: At least some people say that anyway.

[00:02:52] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to try to follow along with Penny and Kara because they kind of gave a primer on what happened in season one and then just picking out the really good episodes.

[00:03:01] [SPEAKER_05]: Well, that's handy.

[00:03:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I also wanted to mention that Greg and Veronica are podcasting on season two of The Wheel of Time for fans of that show that came out.

[00:03:11] [SPEAKER_02]: Season two came out recently so they're moving on with that.

[00:03:14] [SPEAKER_05]: Amazing.

[00:03:16] [SPEAKER_02]: And with all our podcasts, these things get started because our hosts are big fans of whatever they're covering.

[00:03:21] [SPEAKER_02]: They just really want to talk about it and make it a conversation with you guys.

[00:03:24] [SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, we do listener feedback for all the podcasts.

[00:03:28] [SPEAKER_02]: We encourage you guys to send in your thoughts and questions and all that stuff.

[00:03:34] [SPEAKER_02]: And then second and last, I just wanted to mention a few weeks back there was a Hollywood Reporter interview with the last of us co-showrunner Craig Maison,

[00:03:42] [SPEAKER_02]: which is kind of weird to have interviews with showrunners right now when there's this strike and stuff.

[00:03:48] [SPEAKER_02]: But I thought it was pretty cool.

[00:03:49] [SPEAKER_02]: And there's just a couple of tidbits that I thought were cool for fans of that show and waiting, eagerly waiting for season two like we are.

[00:03:57] [SPEAKER_02]: He says he doesn't know how many episodes season two will have and doesn't know how many seasons the show is going to be.

[00:04:03] [SPEAKER_02]: But he said four seems like a good number, which is interesting because I was thinking if they just covered the first,

[00:04:12] [SPEAKER_02]: the two existing games that there would probably be three seasons that sees the game to is bigger than game one.

[00:04:19] [SPEAKER_02]: So it would be split up into two, but he's saying four, maybe five,

[00:04:23] [SPEAKER_02]: which I think means the third game might be coming out and they're planning on covering that too.

[00:04:29] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:04:29] [SPEAKER_05]: Or Druckmann's happy to let stuff spill.

[00:04:33] [SPEAKER_05]: I don't know.

[00:04:33] [SPEAKER_05]: Maybe it's like George R. Martin happy to let things overtake the canon.

[00:04:39] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, like go past it.

[00:04:41] [SPEAKER_02]: I think they said they don't want to do that.

[00:04:44] [SPEAKER_02]: But I guess we'll see.

[00:04:45] [SPEAKER_05]: We now have a PlayStation in the house again.

[00:04:48] [SPEAKER_05]: Peter borrowed another one.

[00:04:49] [SPEAKER_05]: So we may yet play the game, the first game before the second series comes out.

[00:04:53] [SPEAKER_05]: Stay tuned.

[00:04:54] [SPEAKER_02]: So you guys started on the second game?

[00:04:58] [SPEAKER_05]: No, we started the first game and then you had to give the PlayStation back.

[00:05:02] [SPEAKER_05]: We never finished it.

[00:05:03] [SPEAKER_05]: So we've got another PlayStation now to have another go at the first game.

[00:05:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, that's right.

[00:05:08] [SPEAKER_02]: So you don't know anything about the second game yet.

[00:05:10] [SPEAKER_05]: No, I think I'm going to stay on spoiled on second game.

[00:05:12] [SPEAKER_02]: OK, good.

[00:05:13] [SPEAKER_05]: I think if he wants to play it, he can do that on his own time.

[00:05:16] [SPEAKER_02]: And not tell you about it.

[00:05:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, because it's there's a lot of story there and it can be shocking.

[00:05:24] [SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, it's something that if you don't want to be spoiled on,

[00:05:26] [SPEAKER_02]: then you have to watch out for spoilers.

[00:05:27] [SPEAKER_05]: We got nice feedback about having someone be fresh in the podcast.

[00:05:32] [SPEAKER_05]: So I think, yeah, I think I'll do it for you listeners.

[00:05:35] [SPEAKER_05]: I'll do it for you.

[00:05:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's a good idea.

[00:05:38] [SPEAKER_02]: But another thing in the interview and the only thing spoilery about this is it's

[00:05:45] [SPEAKER_02]: the name of a character in the second game.

[00:05:49] [SPEAKER_02]: And that's Abby, so she's a big character.

[00:05:52] [SPEAKER_02]: And he says he hints they may have cast Abby.

[00:05:56] [SPEAKER_02]: So if you've played the second game, you know who I'm talking about.

[00:05:58] [SPEAKER_02]: He says the strike stopped us in our tracks.

[00:06:01] [SPEAKER_02]: Things were in process.

[00:06:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Look, Abby was the first role we wanted to tackle.

[00:06:05] [SPEAKER_02]: We got a pretty good track record of making major cast announcements

[00:06:08] [SPEAKER_02]: and people going really, which will probably continue.

[00:06:12] [SPEAKER_02]: But I think we got it right so far and the audience seems to feel we got it right.

[00:06:16] [SPEAKER_02]: And the Academy seems to feel we got it right.

[00:06:18] [SPEAKER_02]: So to me that sounds like he has cast this character and he feels he got it right.

[00:06:23] [SPEAKER_02]: But I don't know for sure.

[00:06:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, we'll see.

[00:06:26] [SPEAKER_05]: Or they're just being played by like, I don't know.

[00:06:29] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm pretty monestand.

[00:06:32] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, right.

[00:06:33] [SPEAKER_02]: Shocking, right?

[00:06:35] [SPEAKER_05]: So mad that we just fully cast a coyote in that role.

[00:06:39] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, I mean, no one thought Michael Keaton could play Batman.

[00:06:42] [SPEAKER_02]: So we're just going to really push the boundaries here.

[00:06:47] [SPEAKER_02]: All right.

[00:06:49] [SPEAKER_02]: That's it for the news.

[00:06:50] [SPEAKER_02]: Let's move on to Lister Mones Grounds and Grunts.

[00:06:56] [SPEAKER_05]: Tiffane Tables says, so frustrated to not be able to watch it

[00:07:00] [SPEAKER_05]: was the same with Tales of Dead City.

[00:07:02] [SPEAKER_05]: UK fans not happy.

[00:07:03] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:07:04] [SPEAKER_05]: I didn't know you were in the UK.

[00:07:06] [SPEAKER_05]: That's awesome, but also boo.

[00:07:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, come to the States.

[00:07:11] [SPEAKER_02]: Randy has posted a VPN how to in the podcast,

[00:07:15] [SPEAKER_02]: a Facebook group for anyone in the UK who is OK using a VPN

[00:07:19] [SPEAKER_02]: and then signing into your whatever service,

[00:07:22] [SPEAKER_02]: making them think that you're somewhere else

[00:07:24] [SPEAKER_02]: so you can watch this show.

[00:07:26] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm not necessarily condoning that.

[00:07:28] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm just letting you know the information.

[00:07:31] [SPEAKER_05]: We are only reporting what we have been told.

[00:07:33] [SPEAKER_05]: That's right.

[00:07:33] [SPEAKER_05]: We cannot verify.

[00:07:34] [SPEAKER_02]: Hmm, because that is a bummer.

[00:07:36] [SPEAKER_02]: And I think I saw somebody had posted somewhere

[00:07:40] [SPEAKER_02]: that they thought it was coming at some point.

[00:07:43] [SPEAKER_02]: That's so vague and I hope it does because it's.

[00:07:48] [SPEAKER_05]: I hope so.

[00:07:49] [SPEAKER_02]: It seems like it's going to be good.

[00:07:51] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:07:51] [SPEAKER_05]: If we miss all the spin offs, that's not great.

[00:07:53] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's no good without Claire Morris says the same thing.

[00:07:57] [SPEAKER_02]: So sad it's yet another Walking Dead Universe show.

[00:08:00] [SPEAKER_02]: We don't get here in the UK trying to decide

[00:08:01] [SPEAKER_02]: if we should listen to the podcast anyway.

[00:08:03] [SPEAKER_02]: I hope you all love it.

[00:08:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, man, I hope you find a way to see it.

[00:08:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, not just listening to us.

[00:08:10] [SPEAKER_05]: Um, Laura will be swing says Jason,

[00:08:13] [SPEAKER_05]: you and Lucy didn't mention Isabel scars on her wrist.

[00:08:16] [SPEAKER_05]: Looks like she may have tried to take her life.

[00:08:18] [SPEAKER_05]: I wonder if that had something to do with her faith conversion.

[00:08:21] [SPEAKER_05]: Huge point, Laura, good spot.

[00:08:23] [SPEAKER_05]: I wonder if there's definitely building up

[00:08:25] [SPEAKER_05]: an interesting backstory for her, I think.

[00:08:28] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and she said she used to be like Darryl,

[00:08:31] [SPEAKER_02]: i.e. didn't believe in God.

[00:08:34] [SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, he pointed out her scars

[00:08:35] [SPEAKER_02]: and I forget there was a little exchange there.

[00:08:38] [SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, that's a good point.

[00:08:40] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm sure it's related.

[00:08:42] [SPEAKER_02]: Steve Barr says why did they have to saddle

[00:08:45] [SPEAKER_02]: an otherwise perfectly good story

[00:08:47] [SPEAKER_02]: with a precocious child with special abilities?

[00:08:50] [SPEAKER_02]: There was enough going on without him.

[00:08:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Anyways, that's my Ahsoka feedback.

[00:08:55] [SPEAKER_02]: There's a kid in Ahsoka too.

[00:08:57] [SPEAKER_02]: I didn't mention Ahsoka when I was talking about it.

[00:08:59] [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, it's yeah.

[00:09:00] [SPEAKER_05]: I don't know that.

[00:09:01] [SPEAKER_05]: Hmm.

[00:09:02] [SPEAKER_05]: Um, Brenda Tech says,

[00:09:04] [SPEAKER_05]: listening now,

[00:09:05] [SPEAKER_05]: I had the same reaction as you guys

[00:09:06] [SPEAKER_05]: when he drank that water.

[00:09:07] [SPEAKER_05]: Then for a minute, I thought rainwater,

[00:09:09] [SPEAKER_05]: but then it showed that the bucket was well in the tide line

[00:09:12] [SPEAKER_05]: and would have ocean water in it.

[00:09:14] [SPEAKER_05]: Horrified emoji.

[00:09:16] [SPEAKER_05]: I can only empathize, Brenda.

[00:09:18] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm still thinking about it.

[00:09:19] [SPEAKER_05]: So grim.

[00:09:20] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, like I couldn't really pay attention

[00:09:23] [SPEAKER_02]: to the episode after that.

[00:09:24] [SPEAKER_02]: I was just thinking about the saltwater

[00:09:26] [SPEAKER_02]: the whole time.

[00:09:27] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh.

[00:09:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Francesco Nattis says,

[00:09:32] [SPEAKER_02]: this show definitely brought new elements

[00:09:34] [SPEAKER_02]: to the franchise and I'm looking forward

[00:09:36] [SPEAKER_02]: to the running zeds.

[00:09:38] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I hope you see those.

[00:09:39] [SPEAKER_02]: The only odd aspect being that

[00:09:41] [SPEAKER_02]: in a seemingly medieval France,

[00:09:42] [SPEAKER_02]: everyone speaks English so fluently.

[00:09:44] [SPEAKER_02]: Can't wait to hear the podcast.

[00:09:46] [SPEAKER_05]: You are American guy, Francesco.

[00:09:49] [SPEAKER_05]: You are cool.

[00:09:51] [SPEAKER_05]: That was my favorite line.

[00:09:53] [SPEAKER_05]: And she's like, cool American guy.

[00:09:55] [SPEAKER_02]: She said some other piece of slang too,

[00:09:58] [SPEAKER_02]: but I can't remember what it was.

[00:10:00] [SPEAKER_02]: It's great.

[00:10:01] [SPEAKER_05]: Very cute.

[00:10:03] [SPEAKER_05]: Josie Bowen Echtle says,

[00:10:05] [SPEAKER_05]: overall I enjoyed it and I'm just excited

[00:10:08] [SPEAKER_05]: to see more of my favorite character.

[00:10:09] [SPEAKER_05]: However, the actions of Darrell in this episode

[00:10:12] [SPEAKER_05]: reminded me more of Rick rather than Darrell.

[00:10:14] [SPEAKER_05]: I didn't think Darrell was skeptical

[00:10:15] [SPEAKER_05]: or careful enough for his true character.

[00:10:17] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, Josie, I kind of agree with you

[00:10:20] [SPEAKER_05]: on some of that actually.

[00:10:22] [SPEAKER_05]: As I mentioned in the podcast,

[00:10:23] [SPEAKER_05]: there was a bit of,

[00:10:25] [SPEAKER_05]: is this the Darrell we're used to?

[00:10:27] [SPEAKER_05]: But we'll see.

[00:10:29] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:10:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, maybe so.

[00:10:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Is Rick not careful?

[00:10:35] [SPEAKER_02]: No, he's not.

[00:10:36] [SPEAKER_05]: I mean, Rick's just bad shit now, isn't he?

[00:10:39] [SPEAKER_05]: He's crossed the river gone.

[00:10:41] [SPEAKER_05]: He's like, nah.

[00:10:43] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I don't know.

[00:10:45] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to look out for that.

[00:10:46] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if I agree with that or not.

[00:10:49] [SPEAKER_02]: But the more I sit with it,

[00:10:51] [SPEAKER_02]: the more I realize, wow, I really enjoyed watching.

[00:10:55] [SPEAKER_02]: I never would have thought that I would

[00:10:57] [SPEAKER_02]: dig a show with Darrell as the central character.

[00:11:01] [SPEAKER_02]: But I guess it's the fish out of water

[00:11:03] [SPEAKER_02]: aspect of it that's pretty intriguing

[00:11:05] [SPEAKER_02]: and seeing him going around trying to make his way

[00:11:08] [SPEAKER_02]: in a totally unusual place.

[00:11:12] [SPEAKER_05]: I think so.

[00:11:13] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm excited for the rest of the season.

[00:11:14] [SPEAKER_05]: I think it's going to be interesting.

[00:11:16] [SPEAKER_02]: Karen, she says I was honestly a little burnout

[00:11:18] [SPEAKER_02]: by The Walking Dead and wasn't too enthusiastic

[00:11:21] [SPEAKER_02]: about this new series, but then found out

[00:11:23] [SPEAKER_02]: my friend George was a writer on the show.

[00:11:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Yay.

[00:11:26] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, no way.

[00:11:27] [SPEAKER_02]: Glad AMC settled something with the WGA

[00:11:30] [SPEAKER_02]: and SAG so he could promote and celebrate it.

[00:11:33] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we haven't talked about that,

[00:11:35] [SPEAKER_02]: but for some reason I'll have to look it up

[00:11:38] [SPEAKER_02]: and talk about it more in depth later

[00:11:39] [SPEAKER_02]: when I get more information.

[00:11:41] [SPEAKER_02]: But AMC is like separate somehow

[00:11:44] [SPEAKER_02]: so they could work out their own separate deal

[00:11:46] [SPEAKER_02]: and continue working on the spin-offs.

[00:11:49] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh my God, so the only TV that's going to exist

[00:11:51] [SPEAKER_05]: for the foreseeable future is Walking Dead spin-offs?

[00:11:55] [SPEAKER_02]: They're just going to pump out like 10 more

[00:11:57] [SPEAKER_02]: to fill up all the space.

[00:11:59] [SPEAKER_05]: And do you know what?

[00:11:59] [SPEAKER_05]: We'll buy into it.

[00:12:00] [SPEAKER_05]: We'll be like, yeah, that sounds good.

[00:12:02] [SPEAKER_05]: We'll keep doing it.

[00:12:02] [SPEAKER_10]: You want to show about dog and junior.

[00:12:06] [SPEAKER_05]: You know it's dangerous when they call us

[00:12:08] [SPEAKER_05]: and they're like, right, what you got.

[00:12:09] [SPEAKER_05]: We're like, wow.

[00:12:11] [SPEAKER_10]: Just, you know, fear the walkie-doodle.

[00:12:13] [SPEAKER_10]: Don't do that.

[00:12:14] [SPEAKER_10]: Don't do this.

[00:12:15] [SPEAKER_10]: Don't do that.

[00:12:16] [SPEAKER_05]: We want this musical episode.

[00:12:17] [SPEAKER_05]: Don't want this.

[00:12:19] [SPEAKER_10]: Bar Frambo's.

[00:12:20] [SPEAKER_05]: Yep.

[00:12:24] [SPEAKER_05]: Incredible.

[00:12:25] [SPEAKER_05]: Monica McGuire says overall very good.

[00:12:28] [SPEAKER_05]: Couple plot holes like fresh drinking water

[00:12:30] [SPEAKER_05]: they were on the beach, but forgivable.

[00:12:32] [SPEAKER_05]: More to learn about the bad decisions that got him there.

[00:12:35] [SPEAKER_05]: The burners and who's the Messiah?

[00:12:37] [SPEAKER_05]: Laurent or even Darryl Dixon per the dying nun?

[00:12:39] [SPEAKER_05]: I forgot her name.

[00:12:41] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, Darryl the Messiah.

[00:12:43] [SPEAKER_02]: I thought more the dying nun because the dying nun earlier

[00:12:47] [SPEAKER_02]: had said, oh no, you can't trust him to take Laurent.

[00:12:51] [SPEAKER_02]: He's faithless basically.

[00:12:53] [SPEAKER_02]: And then when Darryl came in and saved the day,

[00:12:55] [SPEAKER_02]: she said, oh maybe he is the one meaning I think the one

[00:12:58] [SPEAKER_02]: to take Laurent not like the Messiah himself.

[00:13:01] [SPEAKER_02]: Although I maybe I'm right there on that.

[00:13:03] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.

[00:13:03] [SPEAKER_05]: Never know.

[00:13:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Brenda Tackett said interesting, but the burners shouldn't

[00:13:09] [SPEAKER_02]: they have burned his stick or knife?

[00:13:11] [SPEAKER_02]: I had to make sure I pronounced that correctly.

[00:13:14] [SPEAKER_02]: Burned his stick.

[00:13:16] [SPEAKER_02]: Also, I guess it's a slow moving infection after all

[00:13:21] [SPEAKER_02]: that time could still be stopped.

[00:13:24] [SPEAKER_02]: What does that mean?

[00:13:26] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, what?

[00:13:26] [SPEAKER_05]: Well, yeah, I was a bit confused about that Brenda

[00:13:29] [SPEAKER_05]: in the show because like Darryl's arm looked really

[00:13:32] [SPEAKER_05]: fucked up and they were cauterizing it and they

[00:13:34] [SPEAKER_05]: said slows the spread.

[00:13:36] [SPEAKER_05]: And I was like, but does that mean of infection or

[00:13:40] [SPEAKER_05]: like Z infection?

[00:13:42] [SPEAKER_05]: So I think that was a bit ambiguous in the show.

[00:13:44] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I don't think he was infected.

[00:13:47] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I don't think so.

[00:13:49] [SPEAKER_05]: But I agree that the writing was a bit vague.

[00:13:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Made it feel like that.

[00:13:53] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:13:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:13:55] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's interesting.

[00:13:56] [SPEAKER_02]: And then should they have burned his stick or knife?

[00:14:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Probably.

[00:14:02] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's a good point.

[00:14:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:14:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:14:05] [SPEAKER_02]: In fact, that would have made it even more harrowing

[00:14:08] [SPEAKER_02]: if he's all of a sudden his weapon just starts

[00:14:10] [SPEAKER_02]: melting away than what you're going to do.

[00:14:14] [SPEAKER_02]: She goes on, I do see why it's being compared to

[00:14:17] [SPEAKER_02]: the last of us, but I'll wait and see.

[00:14:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Interesting that France has more variance

[00:14:21] [SPEAKER_02]: that America seems to.

[00:14:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, we think maybe that's because

[00:14:24] [SPEAKER_02]: all this stuff started in France.

[00:14:26] [SPEAKER_05]: Just a high level of culture in France

[00:14:28] [SPEAKER_05]: that the rest of us can only spark.

[00:14:29] [SPEAKER_02]: They're more sophisticated.

[00:14:31] [SPEAKER_05]: They're more sophisticated.

[00:14:31] [SPEAKER_05]: I tell you.

[00:14:33] [SPEAKER_02]: Next we'll see the cigar smoking zeds.

[00:14:36] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:14:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Or pipe smoking.

[00:14:38] [SPEAKER_02]: That would be amazing.

[00:14:41] [SPEAKER_05]: I'd be into that.

[00:14:42] [SPEAKER_05]: Brian White said, I really wanted to see a zombie nun.

[00:14:46] [SPEAKER_05]: That's actually a missed opportunity, Brian.

[00:14:47] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I agree.

[00:14:48] [SPEAKER_05]: We still can.

[00:14:50] [SPEAKER_05]: I mean, hopefully there's still time.

[00:14:52] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, well, the acid zombies or burners,

[00:14:54] [SPEAKER_05]: whatever they're called are interesting.

[00:14:56] [SPEAKER_05]: Does that imply that there are other types

[00:14:57] [SPEAKER_05]: of element zombies?

[00:14:58] [SPEAKER_05]: Ice zombies?

[00:15:00] [SPEAKER_05]: Wind zombies?

[00:15:02] [SPEAKER_05]: Bring them on.

[00:15:02] [SPEAKER_05]: I say, looking forward to where this show

[00:15:04] [SPEAKER_05]: goes. Good start in my book.

[00:15:06] [SPEAKER_05]: I would love for Brian to pitch

[00:15:09] [SPEAKER_05]: wind zombies to AMC.

[00:15:11] [SPEAKER_02]: Earth, wind and fire zombies.

[00:15:13] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:15:15] [SPEAKER_02]: So the elements of fire,

[00:15:18] [SPEAKER_02]: colds or I guess ice and wind.

[00:15:20] [SPEAKER_02]: Those are all elements.

[00:15:21] [SPEAKER_02]: I was going to say earth, but I think

[00:15:23] [SPEAKER_02]: the zombies we see all the time are kind

[00:15:25] [SPEAKER_02]: of the earth zombies.

[00:15:27] [SPEAKER_02]: They're dying to earth.

[00:15:29] [SPEAKER_05]: They're just what they are.

[00:15:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Adam Buckley says, I just love seeing

[00:15:34] [SPEAKER_02]: Daryl in something and I've always

[00:15:36] [SPEAKER_02]: loved France.

[00:15:37] [SPEAKER_02]: So also loving the opportunity to

[00:15:39] [SPEAKER_02]: see more of it in a show I love.

[00:15:40] [SPEAKER_02]: It's a lot of love.

[00:15:41] [SPEAKER_02]: One comment I was thinking after

[00:15:43] [SPEAKER_02]: watching the first episode, does

[00:15:46] [SPEAKER_02]: no one hide when they hear a vehicle

[00:15:47] [SPEAKER_02]: in the apocalypse?

[00:15:48] [SPEAKER_02]: That would be my first instinct

[00:15:51] [SPEAKER_02]: like Daryl.

[00:15:52] [SPEAKER_02]: How did they survive so long?

[00:15:54] [SPEAKER_05]: I mean, good question.

[00:15:55] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, good point.

[00:15:55] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:15:56] [SPEAKER_05]: Our friend, Tej Matille says,

[00:15:58] [SPEAKER_05]: I don't want to be negative,

[00:16:01] [SPEAKER_05]: but I'm not feeling it after episode one.

[00:16:03] [SPEAKER_05]: Formulate plot, weird attempt to make

[00:16:05] [SPEAKER_05]: zombies seem more dangerous and new bad

[00:16:06] [SPEAKER_05]: guy was a predictable motive and

[00:16:08] [SPEAKER_05]: wash, rinse, repeat, self-defense,

[00:16:10] [SPEAKER_05]: revenge motives.

[00:16:11] [SPEAKER_05]: But mostly I'm offended by the

[00:16:13] [SPEAKER_05]: absolutely unacceptable effort to

[00:16:15] [SPEAKER_05]: explain how we got to France.

[00:16:17] [SPEAKER_05]: What is it?

[00:16:19] [SPEAKER_05]: Appreciate that.

[00:16:20] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, now I don't like it anymore.

[00:16:21] [SPEAKER_05]: Tej, we're just going to stop

[00:16:23] [SPEAKER_05]: the podcast now.

[00:16:24] [SPEAKER_05]: We're done.

[00:16:24] [SPEAKER_02]: What is Logan think?

[00:16:26] [SPEAKER_02]: Tell us.

[00:16:27] [SPEAKER_02]: Let us know.

[00:16:28] [SPEAKER_02]: All right, we're going to pepper in

[00:16:29] [SPEAKER_02]: some calls here and here's Sam

[00:16:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Harfinist.

[00:16:33] [SPEAKER_04]: Hi, Sam from Boston calling in for

[00:16:35] [SPEAKER_04]: listener feedback for Daryl Dixon

[00:16:37] [SPEAKER_04]: show.

[00:16:38] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm sold.

[00:16:39] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm in.

[00:16:40] [SPEAKER_04]: I think this is phenomenal.

[00:16:41] [SPEAKER_04]: They got me for as long as the

[00:16:43] [SPEAKER_04]: series goes.

[00:16:44] [SPEAKER_04]: It was so good.

[00:16:46] [SPEAKER_04]: And just like the pacing of it,

[00:16:47] [SPEAKER_04]: the creativity.

[00:16:48] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm just, oh, Norman Redis is

[00:16:50] [SPEAKER_04]: just holding his own in these

[00:16:52] [SPEAKER_04]: scenes and I really appreciate it.

[00:16:53] [SPEAKER_04]: He's had little like sea salt

[00:16:56] [SPEAKER_04]: soaked and sand soaked shuffle.

[00:16:58] [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, we've all been there Daryl.

[00:17:00] [SPEAKER_04]: It's a really uncomfortable.

[00:17:02] [SPEAKER_04]: And just like the altered

[00:17:04] [SPEAKER_04]: zombies are sorry walkers,

[00:17:06] [SPEAKER_04]: walkers.

[00:17:06] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm fascinated.

[00:17:08] [SPEAKER_04]: I want to know more because of

[00:17:09] [SPEAKER_04]: course we would experiment on them.

[00:17:10] [SPEAKER_04]: Of course we would.

[00:17:12] [SPEAKER_04]: And it's just, it's so good.

[00:17:14] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm just so excited from it.

[00:17:15] [SPEAKER_04]: It's amazing.

[00:17:16] [SPEAKER_04]: The only thing that kind of threw

[00:17:17] [SPEAKER_04]: me for a loop a little bit was,

[00:17:19] [SPEAKER_04]: and I knew this was coming up with

[00:17:21] [SPEAKER_04]: the Laurent storyline.

[00:17:21] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't know if we really needed

[00:17:23] [SPEAKER_04]: like a religious slash

[00:17:27] [SPEAKER_04]: kid MacGuffin storyline.

[00:17:28] [SPEAKER_04]: I would have watched a whole show

[00:17:30] [SPEAKER_04]: about Daryl navigating France

[00:17:31] [SPEAKER_04]: and trying to get to the port.

[00:17:33] [SPEAKER_04]: So like I get it.

[00:17:35] [SPEAKER_04]: Like I think this is something

[00:17:36] [SPEAKER_04]: that they wanted to do.

[00:17:37] [SPEAKER_04]: It's been done before so much.

[00:17:40] [SPEAKER_04]: And I, this is a me thing though.

[00:17:42] [SPEAKER_04]: Like I am not a really religious person.

[00:17:44] [SPEAKER_04]: So that kind of took me out of

[00:17:45] [SPEAKER_04]: the story a little bit.

[00:17:46] [SPEAKER_04]: I really didn't care.

[00:17:48] [SPEAKER_04]: So it, you know, I don't know.

[00:17:49] [SPEAKER_04]: It just maybe it'll grow on me.

[00:17:52] [SPEAKER_04]: But, but yeah, I'm not really that

[00:17:53] [SPEAKER_04]: invested in that storyline.

[00:17:56] [SPEAKER_04]: So the scene with the mother

[00:17:58] [SPEAKER_04]: superior died very serious.

[00:18:00] [SPEAKER_04]: I was watching it.

[00:18:01] [SPEAKER_04]: Everyone had their sad faces on.

[00:18:03] [SPEAKER_04]: She's saying these poignant points

[00:18:04] [SPEAKER_04]: and this music so sad.

[00:18:06] [SPEAKER_04]: And then she just finishes

[00:18:08] [SPEAKER_04]: her, her speech and then

[00:18:09] [SPEAKER_04]: plop her head on Isabel's

[00:18:11] [SPEAKER_04]: shoulder.

[00:18:12] [SPEAKER_04]: And it was like, and scene.

[00:18:15] [SPEAKER_04]: It's like, oh someone's been

[00:18:16] [SPEAKER_04]: in the theater.

[00:18:17] [SPEAKER_04]: I appreciate that actress.

[00:18:20] [SPEAKER_04]: It just took me out of it.

[00:18:21] [SPEAKER_04]: And stuff laughing at a very

[00:18:23] [SPEAKER_04]: serious scene.

[00:18:25] [SPEAKER_04]: I can't wait to hear feedback

[00:18:27] [SPEAKER_04]: from from you guys.

[00:18:29] [SPEAKER_04]: And I know I'm just going to love

[00:18:30] [SPEAKER_04]: this episode even more.

[00:18:31] [SPEAKER_04]: So thank you so much for doing this.

[00:18:33] [SPEAKER_04]: Bye.

[00:18:36] [SPEAKER_02]: She's awesome.

[00:18:38] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I agree with pretty much all that

[00:18:40] [SPEAKER_02]: the show feels fun even though

[00:18:42] [SPEAKER_02]: it's serious.

[00:18:44] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean people are dying and stuff.

[00:18:45] [SPEAKER_02]: But I feel like they're having fun with it.

[00:18:47] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.

[00:18:49] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I think so.

[00:18:50] [SPEAKER_05]: And that makes for a good show.

[00:18:51] [SPEAKER_05]: I think when people are enjoying it,

[00:18:53] [SPEAKER_05]: you know.

[00:18:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:18:55] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it seems like they know that it's

[00:18:57] [SPEAKER_02]: funny and everything and they know

[00:18:59] [SPEAKER_02]: that it's cool like picking up one of

[00:19:01] [SPEAKER_02]: those flails is cool and it's

[00:19:03] [SPEAKER_02]: beautiful and they're just like, this is great.

[00:19:06] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:19:07] [SPEAKER_02]: So I asked Amelie Rochette

[00:19:09] [SPEAKER_02]: who's, you know, you've

[00:19:11] [SPEAKER_02]: heard her on here if you listen to our

[00:19:12] [SPEAKER_02]: silo episodes.

[00:19:14] [SPEAKER_02]: She's French Canadian and she's

[00:19:16] [SPEAKER_02]: fluent in French.

[00:19:17] [SPEAKER_02]: She's actually a translator.

[00:19:19] [SPEAKER_02]: And when Henri

[00:19:22] [SPEAKER_02]: and the other guy,

[00:19:23] [SPEAKER_02]: the two soldiers that drove up in their

[00:19:25] [SPEAKER_02]: military Jeep or whatever it was,

[00:19:27] [SPEAKER_02]: came up and hassled

[00:19:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Guillaume

[00:19:31] [SPEAKER_02]: and Maribel and Darryl

[00:19:33] [SPEAKER_02]: and they were saying something

[00:19:35] [SPEAKER_02]: and they were pulling Maribel away,

[00:19:38] [SPEAKER_02]: but it wasn't subtitled.

[00:19:39] [SPEAKER_02]: And so I just wanted to know what they said

[00:19:41] [SPEAKER_02]: and she just said one of the two soldiers

[00:19:43] [SPEAKER_02]: says to Maribel that he recognizes her from

[00:19:45] [SPEAKER_02]: somewhere and wants to take her with him.

[00:19:47] [SPEAKER_02]: So that's it.

[00:19:49] [SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, we thought it was for

[00:19:51] [SPEAKER_02]: he was going to rape her probably right

[00:19:53] [SPEAKER_02]: at her assault.

[00:19:54] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, that sounds pretty

[00:19:57] [SPEAKER_05]: pretty gris.

[00:19:58] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:19:59] [SPEAKER_02]: And Amelie asked, didn't they,

[00:20:01] [SPEAKER_02]: don't they subtitle the French?

[00:20:03] [SPEAKER_02]: And I'm like, they do subtitle

[00:20:06] [SPEAKER_02]: some of it, but not all of it.

[00:20:07] [SPEAKER_02]: And I think in that instance, they didn't

[00:20:09] [SPEAKER_02]: because they wanted to give us the feeling

[00:20:11] [SPEAKER_02]: of what it was like for Darryl who didn't

[00:20:13] [SPEAKER_02]: understand what was going on and made it more tense.

[00:20:15] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, it's interesting when they decide

[00:20:17] [SPEAKER_05]: to and decide not to in shows at the moment.

[00:20:19] [SPEAKER_05]: I've noticed it's not as much of a given

[00:20:21] [SPEAKER_05]: as it used to be.

[00:20:23] [SPEAKER_05]: It's quite cool. I like the effect of being

[00:20:25] [SPEAKER_05]: shut out and sharing that kind of tension.

[00:20:28] [SPEAKER_02]: Unless you speak French and then you knew.

[00:20:31] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, then you're just like,

[00:20:33] [SPEAKER_05]: Brad Holt says,

[00:20:34] [SPEAKER_05]: intriguing start many questions.

[00:20:36] [SPEAKER_05]: Who is the family he seems to be tracking?

[00:20:38] [SPEAKER_05]: Is it Rick's brother? If you know, you know.

[00:20:40] [SPEAKER_05]: I thought it was beautifully photographed

[00:20:42] [SPEAKER_05]: and the production design was perfect.

[00:20:44] [SPEAKER_05]: We will definitely need a flashback sequence

[00:20:46] [SPEAKER_05]: that shows us how he ended up tied to a lifeboat

[00:20:48] [SPEAKER_05]: off the coast of Marseille.

[00:20:49] [SPEAKER_05]: It will be very unsatisfying if we don't get that.

[00:20:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I feel like we're going to get

[00:20:54] [SPEAKER_02]: the story since they touched on it

[00:20:56] [SPEAKER_02]: in a pretty big way at the end

[00:20:58] [SPEAKER_02]: of the pilot. So hopefully.

[00:21:00] [SPEAKER_02]: And the thing about Rick's brother,

[00:21:02] [SPEAKER_02]: one of the other listeners I think mentions that later,

[00:21:04] [SPEAKER_02]: so we'll talk about it a little bit more then.

[00:21:05] [SPEAKER_02]: So Dabalino Bob Grippie says,

[00:21:08] [SPEAKER_02]: already better than Dead City Episode One.

[00:21:10] [SPEAKER_02]: Instead of Rick on a horse,

[00:21:12] [SPEAKER_02]: it was Darryl walking on the train tracks.

[00:21:14] [SPEAKER_02]: We kind of said that too. Darryl

[00:21:16] [SPEAKER_02]: walking across the French countryside

[00:21:18] [SPEAKER_02]: was like Lord of the Rings and also

[00:21:19] [SPEAKER_02]: sound of music.

[00:21:23] [SPEAKER_02]: See, bursting into song.

[00:21:25] [SPEAKER_02]: I love that.

[00:21:26] [SPEAKER_05]: It is a real life.

[00:21:30] [SPEAKER_02]: No one with a face tattoo ends up

[00:21:32] [SPEAKER_02]: being a neutral and or good guy.

[00:21:34] [SPEAKER_05]: True that.

[00:21:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Bigger villain reveal was too quick.

[00:21:39] [SPEAKER_02]: No, I'm okay with that.

[00:21:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Love how the old grandpa

[00:21:42] [SPEAKER_02]: pretended to be blind to test how people

[00:21:44] [SPEAKER_02]: behave but I sort of knew he wasn't going to make it

[00:21:46] [SPEAKER_02]: to the end of Episode One.

[00:21:48] [SPEAKER_05]: Evil grandpa? Well, not evil.

[00:21:50] [SPEAKER_05]: Like tricky grandpa.

[00:21:52] [SPEAKER_05]: Michelle Forbes says, I thought it was a really

[00:21:54] [SPEAKER_05]: solid premiere. They have set up

[00:21:56] [SPEAKER_05]: the storyline in a way that makes me interested

[00:21:58] [SPEAKER_05]: to see where they're going with the boy,

[00:22:00] [SPEAKER_05]: even if it does have some last of us vibes.

[00:22:02] [SPEAKER_05]: And I'm also really interested in what they're up to

[00:22:04] [SPEAKER_05]: on that ship Darryl escaped from.

[00:22:06] [SPEAKER_05]: I'll definitely be tuning in this season.

[00:22:08] [SPEAKER_05]: And also, did any of my fellow Harry Potter fans

[00:22:11] [SPEAKER_05]: recognise Fleur de la Courne, a sister Isabel?

[00:22:13] [SPEAKER_05]: I love when my worlds collide.

[00:22:15] [SPEAKER_05]: Yes and yes.

[00:22:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, maybe it's good

[00:22:20] [SPEAKER_02]: that Laurent is,

[00:22:22] [SPEAKER_02]: to say it charitably, precocious.

[00:22:24] [SPEAKER_06]: You know?

[00:22:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Because hopefully, I mean if it was just another,

[00:22:29] [SPEAKER_02]: well Judith is pretty precocious too

[00:22:30] [SPEAKER_02]: but not in an annoying way where she challenges

[00:22:33] [SPEAKER_02]: other people with it.

[00:22:34] [SPEAKER_02]: She's just

[00:22:36] [SPEAKER_02]: very capable and smart

[00:22:38] [SPEAKER_02]: and uses that to help people.

[00:22:40] [SPEAKER_02]: But this kid, I mean, I don't think he's

[00:22:42] [SPEAKER_02]: trying to be a jerk.

[00:22:44] [SPEAKER_02]: He's just being engaging.

[00:22:46] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, I think I was listening as I was editing

[00:22:48] [SPEAKER_02]: and you were like, yeah, I would have probably corrected

[00:22:50] [SPEAKER_02]: someone's English when I was a little kid too.

[00:22:52] [SPEAKER_02]: You know? It's just what little kids do sometimes

[00:22:54] [SPEAKER_02]: and they don't realise that they're being annoying.

[00:22:57] [SPEAKER_02]: But anyway, the point I'm trying to get to

[00:22:58] [SPEAKER_02]: is the fact that he's so different from

[00:23:01] [SPEAKER_02]: Darrell and in a way that

[00:23:03] [SPEAKER_02]: where they can kind of poke at each other

[00:23:05] [SPEAKER_02]: that maybe that'll make it

[00:23:06] [SPEAKER_02]: interesting to see.

[00:23:08] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, it would be really boring if it was just a mini Darrell, you know?

[00:23:11] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, or

[00:23:12] [SPEAKER_02]: someone like Judith who's just

[00:23:14] [SPEAKER_02]: great.

[00:23:15] [SPEAKER_05]: We love Judith. We love her.

[00:23:18] [SPEAKER_02]: But we've seen that, you know?

[00:23:20] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.

[00:23:21] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm just trying to look on the bright side.

[00:23:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Gloria Latteri-Hernon

[00:23:26] [SPEAKER_02]: says, wow, wow, wow.

[00:23:28] [SPEAKER_02]: I wonder if that's from pitch meeting.

[00:23:30] [SPEAKER_02]: I bet it is.

[00:23:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Ryan George. I loved it.

[00:23:33] [SPEAKER_02]: Really great start. I thought it's pretty easy

[00:23:35] [SPEAKER_02]: for Darrell to make enemies, huh?

[00:23:39] [SPEAKER_02]: Yep.

[00:23:39] [SPEAKER_02]: Laurent is adorable.

[00:23:41] [SPEAKER_02]: The writing, the music, the scenery, all of it was awesome.

[00:23:44] [SPEAKER_02]: Can't wait to see what other kinds of walkers

[00:23:46] [SPEAKER_02]: they introduce. I'm always here for killer nuns.

[00:23:49] [SPEAKER_02]: I do wish the bad guys didn't have guns

[00:23:51] [SPEAKER_02]: and we could have seen them fight.

[00:23:52] [SPEAKER_02]: I definitely didn't believe

[00:23:54] [SPEAKER_02]: that the young chick and the old guy

[00:23:56] [SPEAKER_02]: pulled one over on Darrell. Come on.

[00:23:58] [SPEAKER_02]: Looking forward to next week.

[00:24:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, that's great. Excellent.

[00:24:01] [SPEAKER_05]: Jonathan Bucalil says,

[00:24:04] [SPEAKER_05]: what a great first episode. Way better than I was expecting.

[00:24:07] [SPEAKER_05]: Great locations,

[00:24:08] [SPEAKER_05]: sets and costumes. A real World War II aesthetic.

[00:24:11] [SPEAKER_05]: Darrell kicked ass

[00:24:11] [SPEAKER_05]: and looked very cool. Appreciate the survival moments

[00:24:14] [SPEAKER_05]: in the beginning. Vehicles that help

[00:24:16] [SPEAKER_05]: build the world and look awesome.

[00:24:18] [SPEAKER_05]: The weapons room, killer nuns.

[00:24:20] [SPEAKER_05]: Great, tough looking bad guys. The weapons room.

[00:24:22] [SPEAKER_05]: Looks like we have a chosen one.

[00:24:24] [SPEAKER_05]: Wolf and Cub here was journey coming up

[00:24:26] [SPEAKER_05]: and I can't wait.

[00:24:27] [SPEAKER_05]: P.S. he had better grab that Tommy gun.

[00:24:30] [SPEAKER_05]: Hey, that's cool to hear from

[00:24:32] [SPEAKER_05]: Jonathan. I feel like he's not been enjoying the Walking Dead

[00:24:34] [SPEAKER_05]: for the last few years.

[00:24:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'm glad he's into it.

[00:24:39] [SPEAKER_02]: And you know,

[00:24:40] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah, Jonathan's,

[00:24:42] [SPEAKER_02]: he's got strong opinions about things

[00:24:44] [SPEAKER_02]: and he'll say when he loves something

[00:24:46] [SPEAKER_02]: and when he doesn't so much

[00:24:47] [SPEAKER_02]: and so I'm glad to hear he's digging it.

[00:24:50] [SPEAKER_02]: That's awesome.

[00:24:51] [SPEAKER_05]: I love it.

[00:24:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Rebecca Cantu Davidson says

[00:24:55] [SPEAKER_02]: not sure how to feel yet. I'm definitely intrigued

[00:24:58] [SPEAKER_02]: and will continue to watch but the

[00:25:00] [SPEAKER_02]: delivering a child's storyline is pretty old

[00:25:02] [SPEAKER_02]: by now. I'm glad Darrell

[00:25:04] [SPEAKER_02]: is still Darrell. Yeah, the math sucks

[00:25:06] [SPEAKER_02]: was my favorite line.

[00:25:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Wait, what was that? The math sucks?

[00:25:11] [SPEAKER_05]: When they were talking

[00:25:12] [SPEAKER_05]: about recopulating France

[00:25:14] [SPEAKER_05]: the kids like it makes my stomach hurt

[00:25:16] [SPEAKER_05]: when I think about the money

[00:25:17] [SPEAKER_05]: or the money when I think about the numbers

[00:25:19] [SPEAKER_05]: of people and he was like, yeah, the math sucks.

[00:25:22] [SPEAKER_05]: You can tell how I wrote that scene.

[00:25:25] [SPEAKER_02]: She says

[00:25:26] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm not sure I like the plot

[00:25:27] [SPEAKER_02]: that the boy is special and has some supernatural power.

[00:25:30] [SPEAKER_02]: I enjoyed how the original

[00:25:31] [SPEAKER_02]: show stayed within the certain limits of reality

[00:25:34] [SPEAKER_02]: but introducing this supernatural gifted child

[00:25:36] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm not so sure.

[00:25:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, we'll continue watching

[00:25:39] [SPEAKER_02]: and I'm looking forward to having Jason and Lucy back in my years.

[00:25:42] [SPEAKER_02]: Pleasure to be here.

[00:25:44] [SPEAKER_02]: We don't know if it's supernatural

[00:25:45] [SPEAKER_02]: yet but

[00:25:47] [SPEAKER_05]: I don't think we'll ever know.

[00:25:49] [SPEAKER_05]: I think it'll be one of those

[00:25:51] [SPEAKER_05]: ambiguous ones.

[00:25:54] [SPEAKER_05]: Alma Contreras says

[00:25:55] [SPEAKER_05]: alright, it took me a few times to watch this because

[00:25:57] [SPEAKER_05]: I fell asleep but it was pretty good in general.

[00:26:00] [SPEAKER_05]: The nuns were badass and I liked the scenes

[00:26:01] [SPEAKER_05]: in the abbey. As far as LeRion

[00:26:03] [SPEAKER_05]: is concerned I find him a bit annoying

[00:26:05] [SPEAKER_05]: and are we truly to believe that he's the Messiah?

[00:26:08] [SPEAKER_05]: The crazy religious stuff in the

[00:26:09] [SPEAKER_05]: Walking Dead universe gets old real quick

[00:26:11] [SPEAKER_05]: but that probably has to do with me not being religious.

[00:26:13] [SPEAKER_05]: I hate the fact that I didn't learn more

[00:26:15] [SPEAKER_05]: from Satan my youth because I hate subtitles.

[00:26:18] [SPEAKER_05]: Gonna have to hope for the best with this series.

[00:26:21] [SPEAKER_05]: Alma, maybe we should be doing a

[00:26:22] [SPEAKER_05]: Zedhead French group.

[00:26:24] [SPEAKER_05]: See if Amalie will teach us all.

[00:26:27] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[00:26:28] [SPEAKER_02]: So she asked are we truly

[00:26:30] [SPEAKER_02]: to believe that he's the Messiah?

[00:26:32] [SPEAKER_02]: And you said you didn't think they would

[00:26:33] [SPEAKER_02]: ever reveal it

[00:26:36] [SPEAKER_02]: but we're gonna know whether

[00:26:37] [SPEAKER_02]: he's successful or not, right?

[00:26:39] [SPEAKER_02]: Or not? Maybe he'll just get sent off.

[00:26:41] [SPEAKER_05]: But I just can't imagine.

[00:26:43] [SPEAKER_02]: I guess it will take a while, huh?

[00:26:45] [SPEAKER_05]: Well, however many bloody years he mentioned

[00:26:47] [SPEAKER_05]: about repopulating the earth

[00:26:49] [SPEAKER_05]: it's that long to find out.

[00:26:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, okay, good point.

[00:26:53] [SPEAKER_02]: Alright, here's Penny.

[00:26:56] [SPEAKER_07]: Bonjour, Lucia, Jason.

[00:26:58] [SPEAKER_07]: Bonjour.

[00:26:59] [SPEAKER_07]: This is Penny in Massachusetts.

[00:27:01] [SPEAKER_07]: I'm really glad that

[00:27:03] [SPEAKER_07]: you guys had to delay recording for a day

[00:27:05] [SPEAKER_07]: so I could gather my thoughts

[00:27:07] [SPEAKER_07]: about the new Daryl show.

[00:27:10] [SPEAKER_07]: I didn't like it at first.

[00:27:13] [SPEAKER_07]: I thought Daryl was acting

[00:27:14] [SPEAKER_07]: really weird.

[00:27:16] [SPEAKER_07]: I still don't think that the

[00:27:18] [SPEAKER_07]: bath scene makes sense

[00:27:19] [SPEAKER_07]: but I rewatched

[00:27:22] [SPEAKER_07]: a season 10 episode

[00:27:24] [SPEAKER_07]: of Walking Dead and I had sort of

[00:27:26] [SPEAKER_07]: let myself forget how Daryl

[00:27:28] [SPEAKER_07]: had changed in those later seasons

[00:27:30] [SPEAKER_07]: so Franca Daryl makes

[00:27:32] [SPEAKER_07]: a little more sense to me now.

[00:27:35] [SPEAKER_07]: Where the show is really hitting it out of the park

[00:27:37] [SPEAKER_07]: for me though is aesthetics.

[00:27:39] [SPEAKER_07]: I really

[00:27:41] [SPEAKER_07]: enjoy the

[00:27:43] [SPEAKER_07]: well, the French countryside is beautiful

[00:27:45] [SPEAKER_07]: but the sort of rough textures

[00:27:47] [SPEAKER_07]: of the buildings

[00:27:48] [SPEAKER_07]: and the clothes that everyone's wearing

[00:27:50] [SPEAKER_07]: the simplicity

[00:27:52] [SPEAKER_07]: the

[00:27:54] [SPEAKER_07]: age that you can feel in the surroundings

[00:27:57] [SPEAKER_07]: also the walkers look

[00:27:59] [SPEAKER_07]: really different and cool

[00:28:00] [SPEAKER_07]: and I can't wait to find out what's going on

[00:28:03] [SPEAKER_07]: with the burner walker.

[00:28:05] [SPEAKER_07]: I have a feeling I'm going to spend most of the season

[00:28:07] [SPEAKER_07]: trying to learn some French phrases.

[00:28:10] [SPEAKER_07]: That should be embarrassing

[00:28:12] [SPEAKER_07]: so I won't record any of that.

[00:28:15] [SPEAKER_07]: As for Daryl's new

[00:28:16] [SPEAKER_07]: outfit, you know, I love the leather

[00:28:18] [SPEAKER_07]: vest but I'm really

[00:28:20] [SPEAKER_07]: digging this look on him.

[00:28:23] [SPEAKER_07]: J'adore

[00:28:24] [SPEAKER_07]: to sum it up.

[00:28:26] [SPEAKER_07]: So don't get bit you guys.

[00:28:29] [SPEAKER_02]: She said she wasn't going to say any French

[00:28:32] [SPEAKER_02]: phrases and then she said what?

[00:28:34] [SPEAKER_05]: Fanny, full of contradictions.

[00:28:38] [SPEAKER_02]: I

[00:28:39] [SPEAKER_02]: think he is acting

[00:28:40] [SPEAKER_02]: like Daryl. I don't get it

[00:28:42] [SPEAKER_02]: actually. I think it's

[00:28:43] [SPEAKER_02]: I wasn't

[00:28:45] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know. It does bother

[00:28:47] [SPEAKER_02]: me when new writers take on

[00:28:49] [SPEAKER_02]: characters and then they seem totally

[00:28:51] [SPEAKER_02]: different. That happened in Fear the Walking

[00:28:53] [SPEAKER_02]: Dead, right? Everybody was

[00:28:55] [SPEAKER_02]: completely different when the new showrunners came on

[00:28:57] [SPEAKER_02]: but with Daryl, I mean, he's got a lot

[00:28:59] [SPEAKER_02]: of different sides to him and

[00:29:01] [SPEAKER_02]: to me it felt

[00:29:02] [SPEAKER_02]: it felt like Daryl to me.

[00:29:05] [SPEAKER_05]: I think apart from the bath

[00:29:06] [SPEAKER_05]: scene, the bath scene I was

[00:29:08] [SPEAKER_05]: just a bit like this feels weirdly

[00:29:10] [SPEAKER_05]: intimate but I'll let it slide.

[00:29:13] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know. Yeah, I kind of dug

[00:29:14] [SPEAKER_02]: it. I don't know.

[00:29:17] [SPEAKER_02]: My turn. Andrea

[00:29:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Hatfield Olmsted says I'm excited.

[00:29:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Walking Dead has a great way of telling

[00:29:22] [SPEAKER_02]: a story that's going to be different

[00:29:24] [SPEAKER_02]: and interesting. Of course it's different. It's

[00:29:26] [SPEAKER_02]: France. I think the original

[00:29:28] [SPEAKER_02]: roots will come back sooner than later

[00:29:30] [SPEAKER_02]: and we will get our Walking Dead feels again.

[00:29:33] [SPEAKER_02]: This is going to be epic that she

[00:29:34] [SPEAKER_02]: wrote again later. Listening to the review now

[00:29:36] [SPEAKER_02]: it's so nice hearing you two again. I missed

[00:29:38] [SPEAKER_10]: it. Aw, thanks. Thank you.

[00:29:40] [SPEAKER_02]: I wonder if Rick's brother Jeffrey

[00:29:42] [SPEAKER_02]: will be there in the spin-off

[00:29:44] [SPEAKER_02]: comic he was in France, I think. They really

[00:29:46] [SPEAKER_02]: need to do that. How awesome would that be?

[00:29:48] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I forget where that

[00:29:50] [SPEAKER_02]: was but there was some comic

[00:29:52] [SPEAKER_02]: I think it was the only Walking Dead story

[00:29:54] [SPEAKER_02]: written by someone else and it was

[00:29:56] [SPEAKER_02]: written by the same guy who did

[00:29:58] [SPEAKER_02]: why The Last Man whose name

[00:30:00] [SPEAKER_02]: is escaping me right now but he's

[00:30:01] [SPEAKER_02]: a famous great comic book writer

[00:30:04] [SPEAKER_02]: who also wrote for Lost for a little while.

[00:30:06] [SPEAKER_02]: Wish I could remember his name. Anyway, yeah

[00:30:08] [SPEAKER_02]: it was about Rick's brother Jeffrey

[00:30:10] [SPEAKER_02]: in France or something. Yeah, I feel like

[00:30:12] [SPEAKER_05]: there was a rumor at one point they were going to have him be in

[00:30:14] [SPEAKER_05]: Scotland but then they decided that was just

[00:30:16] [SPEAKER_05]: not good enough and I'm like, oh, I think that was

[00:30:18] [SPEAKER_05]: because of like

[00:30:20] [SPEAKER_05]: Glasgow's links with comic books and things like

[00:30:22] [SPEAKER_05]: that and I thought it'd been hilarious but France

[00:30:24] [SPEAKER_05]: probably.

[00:30:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Brian K. Vaughan by the way. That's the one.

[00:30:28] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:30:29] [SPEAKER_02]: And then she says

[00:30:30] [SPEAKER_02]: what if Daryl

[00:30:32] [SPEAKER_02]: is the special one not the boy?

[00:30:34] [SPEAKER_05]: I like that reading, you never know.

[00:30:38] [SPEAKER_05]: Chris Leibow

[00:30:39] [SPEAKER_05]: says bonjour it begins

[00:30:41] [SPEAKER_05]: French cuisine will never be the same

[00:30:43] [SPEAKER_05]: after Daryl introduces squirrels

[00:30:45] [SPEAKER_05]: and thrown fish to them

[00:30:46] [SPEAKER_05]: intriguing to see zombie apocalypse

[00:30:48] [SPEAKER_05]: France beautiful scenery and some

[00:30:50] [SPEAKER_05]: interesting characters introduced they wasted

[00:30:53] [SPEAKER_05]: no time in setting up the story

[00:30:54] [SPEAKER_05]: kid that needs to be saved a perilous journey

[00:30:57] [SPEAKER_05]: and a bad guy enjoyed the old muskets

[00:30:59] [SPEAKER_05]: and medieval weapons

[00:31:00] [SPEAKER_05]: Daryl was like a kid in a candy store too

[00:31:03] [SPEAKER_05]: bad he couldn't use some of the World War II weapons

[00:31:05] [SPEAKER_05]: but I assume ammunition for those would be even

[00:31:07] [SPEAKER_05]: harder to come by we'll see

[00:31:09] [SPEAKER_05]: but it's not a bad start.

[00:31:11] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's the Tommy Gunn somebody would

[00:31:13] [SPEAKER_02]: spend. Nice.

[00:31:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Melissa Sylvester says

[00:31:16] [SPEAKER_02]: I am the outlier on this although Daryl

[00:31:19] [SPEAKER_02]: is my favorite character this is a big

[00:31:21] [SPEAKER_02]: nope for me the heavy focus

[00:31:23] [SPEAKER_02]: on religion doesn't suit my taste

[00:31:25] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm also not a fan of magic child

[00:31:27] [SPEAKER_02]: solving the world's problems

[00:31:28] [SPEAKER_02]: but worse is the burner zombie concept

[00:31:31] [SPEAKER_02]: it's not believable if the walkers

[00:31:33] [SPEAKER_02]: hands were hot enough to burn Daryl why

[00:31:35] [SPEAKER_02]: wasn't it setting anything and everything

[00:31:36] [SPEAKER_02]: on fire starting with its own clothes

[00:31:39] [SPEAKER_02]: the decade since the outbreak

[00:31:41] [SPEAKER_02]: isn't long enough for that kind of evolution

[00:31:43] [SPEAKER_02]: either I'm willing to suspend my

[00:31:45] [SPEAKER_02]: disbelief for all kinds of things but I need

[00:31:47] [SPEAKER_02]: to show to make an effort to help me do that

[00:31:49] [SPEAKER_02]: well I don't know if it's hot

[00:31:51] [SPEAKER_02]: I think it's like acid

[00:31:52] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah I thought it was acid too

[00:31:54] [SPEAKER_05]: I thought it was like they're kind of clammy

[00:31:56] [SPEAKER_05]: with it like their blood tests turned to acid

[00:31:58] [SPEAKER_05]: or something and they're like secreting

[00:32:01] [SPEAKER_02]: it and it really

[00:32:02] [SPEAKER_02]: like if that was true it would just

[00:32:04] [SPEAKER_02]: burn through their skin and they would just

[00:32:06] [SPEAKER_02]: be a pile of mush yeah but

[00:32:08] [SPEAKER_02]: I've always said with the walking dead

[00:32:10] [SPEAKER_02]: I want it to be like the only

[00:32:13] [SPEAKER_02]: thing that's not believable is the

[00:32:14] [SPEAKER_02]: zombies and then it's kind of how the

[00:32:16] [SPEAKER_02]: real world deals

[00:32:18] [SPEAKER_02]: with that and it's the walking dead has

[00:32:20] [SPEAKER_02]: succeeded at that at varying levels

[00:32:22] [SPEAKER_02]: over the years but I'm

[00:32:24] [SPEAKER_02]: okay at this point in the series

[00:32:26] [SPEAKER_02]: with some variants

[00:32:28] [SPEAKER_02]: and them being like not totally believable

[00:32:31] [SPEAKER_02]: because that is the

[00:32:32] [SPEAKER_02]: one thing in the walking dead that's

[00:32:34] [SPEAKER_02]: could never happen you know

[00:32:36] [SPEAKER_02]: hmm well I don't know what about you

[00:32:39] [SPEAKER_05]: in terms of

[00:32:40] [SPEAKER_05]: how I want the show to be and like

[00:32:42] [SPEAKER_02]: or just like is it okay to have

[00:32:44] [SPEAKER_02]: acid zombies even though

[00:32:46] [SPEAKER_02]: that could never be real

[00:32:48] [SPEAKER_05]: I mean yes and also like

[00:32:51] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm kind of ambivalent about the

[00:32:52] [SPEAKER_05]: acid zombies but I'm a bit

[00:32:54] [SPEAKER_05]: getting a bit frustrated that we've not seen the variants

[00:32:56] [SPEAKER_05]: that they have introduced yet like the quick

[00:32:58] [SPEAKER_05]: zombies like I kind of like I want to see

[00:33:00] [SPEAKER_05]: more of that because there was none of it in Dead City

[00:33:03] [SPEAKER_05]: we barely saw it

[00:33:04] [SPEAKER_05]: at the end of season 11

[00:33:06] [SPEAKER_05]: and I'm just kind of like

[00:33:08] [SPEAKER_05]: will this pay off like I don't know I'd rather

[00:33:10] [SPEAKER_05]: focus on one variant than have a different menu

[00:33:12] [SPEAKER_05]: of all sorts of different things

[00:33:14] [SPEAKER_02]: I think I mean because Isabel said

[00:33:17] [SPEAKER_02]: this is one kind

[00:33:18] [SPEAKER_02]: I feel like that means there are a bunch

[00:33:20] [SPEAKER_02]: of different kinds

[00:33:23] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah and so

[00:33:25] [SPEAKER_02]: I predict we will see those

[00:33:27] [SPEAKER_02]: but we may see

[00:33:29] [SPEAKER_02]: something else you know too

[00:33:30] [SPEAKER_05]: I think my reading of it would be that

[00:33:33] [SPEAKER_05]: they are that way because they were being

[00:33:34] [SPEAKER_05]: experimented on in some way

[00:33:36] [SPEAKER_05]: like that caused it to spread but

[00:33:38] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah I don't I don't think

[00:33:40] [SPEAKER_05]: not like an evolution

[00:33:42] [SPEAKER_05]: she says doing a podcast on it

[00:33:44] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm like I don't like to think about it too much

[00:33:45] [SPEAKER_05]: I just like to discuss it at length for hours

[00:33:49] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah I mean for me

[00:33:50] [SPEAKER_02]: it's like

[00:33:51] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm willing to suspend my belief

[00:33:54] [SPEAKER_02]: way way more when it comes to this

[00:33:56] [SPEAKER_02]: because it's the zombies which are not

[00:33:58] [SPEAKER_02]: possible anyway right

[00:34:00] [SPEAKER_05]: so if you're taking that leap you may as well take

[00:34:02] [SPEAKER_05]: the further leap

[00:34:03] [SPEAKER_02]: little bit more yeah because there's no way

[00:34:06] [SPEAKER_02]: like even if

[00:34:07] [SPEAKER_02]: you could sort of

[00:34:09] [SPEAKER_02]: turn a human being into this

[00:34:11] [SPEAKER_02]: mindless

[00:34:12] [SPEAKER_02]: killing

[00:34:14] [SPEAKER_02]: thing monster

[00:34:15] [SPEAKER_02]: it wouldn't still be alive 12 years later

[00:34:19] [SPEAKER_02]: you know walking around with its

[00:34:21] [SPEAKER_05]: organs

[00:34:22] [SPEAKER_02]: missing and stuff yeah so

[00:34:25] [SPEAKER_02]: we just have to sort of accept that okay fine

[00:34:27] [SPEAKER_02]: that's part of the walking of it that we don't question

[00:34:31] [SPEAKER_05]: Megan Kraft says great first episode

[00:34:34] [SPEAKER_05]: Darryl is my favorite character

[00:34:35] [SPEAKER_05]: and I loved seeing him in this new environment

[00:34:37] [SPEAKER_05]: the music really elevated the episode

[00:34:39] [SPEAKER_05]: for me as well as the beautiful landscape

[00:34:41] [SPEAKER_05]: shots and Darryl's new European wardrobe

[00:34:43] [SPEAKER_05]: I was dying over the sweater

[00:34:45] [SPEAKER_05]: and suspender or outfit love her

[00:34:47] [SPEAKER_05]: I love the arm nuns and although

[00:34:49] [SPEAKER_05]: I was rooting for them it was pretty cool when they got

[00:34:51] [SPEAKER_05]: shot up too I'm glad we got the last

[00:34:54] [SPEAKER_05]: scene and explain more about how Darryl came

[00:34:55] [SPEAKER_05]: to be in France and seemed to make a connection

[00:34:57] [SPEAKER_05]: to roll beyond by mentioning the test subjects

[00:34:59] [SPEAKER_05]: at least that's what I thought of right away

[00:35:02] [SPEAKER_05]: can't wait to see more

[00:35:03] [SPEAKER_05]: I did watch the full season preview and it looks like

[00:35:05] [SPEAKER_05]: it's going to be amazing

[00:35:06] [SPEAKER_05]: I didn't watch that

[00:35:08] [SPEAKER_05]: did you not watch the preview?

[00:35:10] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm glad to hear it

[00:35:14] [SPEAKER_02]: Jennifer McGinley says

[00:35:15] [SPEAKER_05]: Jennifer

[00:35:16] [SPEAKER_02]: dead priest in a closet and a creepy kid

[00:35:19] [SPEAKER_02]: no thanks that's what

[00:35:21] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm here for Darryl he's not the Messiah

[00:35:23] [SPEAKER_02]: he's a very naughty boy

[00:35:25] [SPEAKER_02]: he was coming out of

[00:35:27] [SPEAKER_02]: that room and he was told to stay in

[00:35:29] [SPEAKER_02]: not sure I'm

[00:35:31] [SPEAKER_02]: going to love this show but Darryl's in it

[00:35:33] [SPEAKER_02]: so done deal I went to

[00:35:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Maltse Michel during the school trip

[00:35:37] [SPEAKER_02]: to Normany when I was 12 in 1983

[00:35:40] [SPEAKER_02]: that's when I was

[00:35:41] [SPEAKER_02]: 12

[00:35:42] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah I was 12 then too

[00:35:45] [SPEAKER_02]: high five it was the best

[00:35:47] [SPEAKER_02]: thing I'd ever seen at that point in my life

[00:35:49] [SPEAKER_02]: later watching Game of Thrones reminded me

[00:35:51] [SPEAKER_02]: of the lanes and alleys at Maltse

[00:35:53] [SPEAKER_02]: Michel with all the shops and stalls

[00:35:55] [SPEAKER_02]: on either side and the

[00:35:57] [SPEAKER_02]: smells the smells might not have been

[00:35:59] [SPEAKER_02]: that nice because I spewed my

[00:36:01] [SPEAKER_02]: ringer on the coach

[00:36:03] [SPEAKER_02]: during the return journey and my school

[00:36:05] [SPEAKER_02]: mates hated me even more than they

[00:36:07] [SPEAKER_02]: already did for making the coach smell

[00:36:09] [SPEAKER_02]: like puke for the two hour ride

[00:36:11] [SPEAKER_02]: haha

[00:36:14] [SPEAKER_10]: what does that mean

[00:36:15] [SPEAKER_05]: it's just like um

[00:36:17] [SPEAKER_05]: it means you threw up so much

[00:36:19] [SPEAKER_05]: that like your

[00:36:20] [SPEAKER_05]: your butt ring

[00:36:23] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah you threw up so much

[00:36:25] [SPEAKER_05]: that your butthole came out your

[00:36:27] [SPEAKER_05]: mouth essentially that was my reading of it

[00:36:29] [SPEAKER_02]: thanks for clarification

[00:36:31] [SPEAKER_02]: even if the show ends up sucking

[00:36:33] [SPEAKER_02]: the fact that Jennifer McGinley's riding to us

[00:36:35] [SPEAKER_02]: again makes it worthwhile

[00:36:36] [SPEAKER_02]: to be covering it I love her

[00:36:38] [SPEAKER_05]: speed my ringer oh my god that's such a class

[00:36:41] [SPEAKER_05]: Scottish phrase man

[00:36:45] [SPEAKER_05]: oh Jennifer excellent it's like

[00:36:47] [SPEAKER_05]: every Scottish school

[00:36:49] [SPEAKER_05]: trip over to Normandy it's like you have

[00:36:51] [SPEAKER_05]: to take it seriously and everyone just has a hoot

[00:36:53] [SPEAKER_05]: and then throws up on the way home

[00:36:55] [SPEAKER_05]: uh Dre Minoni says well

[00:36:57] [SPEAKER_05]: Daryl Dixon in a blue spider with

[00:36:59] [SPEAKER_05]: suspenders definitely a different look for our guy

[00:37:01] [SPEAKER_05]: but I'm here for it I'm

[00:37:03] [SPEAKER_05]: intrigued to learn more about who things have impacted

[00:37:05] [SPEAKER_05]: France especially when it comes to these different

[00:37:07] [SPEAKER_05]: varieties of walkers we met the

[00:37:09] [SPEAKER_05]: burners this time but if I were Daryl

[00:37:11] [SPEAKER_05]: I felt like I'd have a lot more questions

[00:37:13] [SPEAKER_05]: about this crazy difference from American

[00:37:15] [SPEAKER_05]: walkers he seemed to be very chill

[00:37:17] [SPEAKER_05]: about it otherwise I think the

[00:37:19] [SPEAKER_05]: story is similar setup to others

[00:37:21] [SPEAKER_05]: bad guys identify

[00:37:24] [SPEAKER_05]: some unclear motives

[00:37:26] [SPEAKER_10]: you're so bored with

[00:37:27] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm so I'm like

[00:37:29] [SPEAKER_05]: oh this is really

[00:37:31] [SPEAKER_05]: after

[00:37:33] [SPEAKER_05]: speed my ringer there's just no coming back

[00:37:35] [SPEAKER_05]: um

[00:37:37] [SPEAKER_05]: uh do do do

[00:37:38] [SPEAKER_05]: otherwise I think the story is a similar setup

[00:37:40] [SPEAKER_05]: to others bad guys identified

[00:37:42] [SPEAKER_05]: some unclear motives with Daryl's connection

[00:37:44] [SPEAKER_05]: to the research boat so there is

[00:37:46] [SPEAKER_05]: a mystery to unravel which I of course will watch

[00:37:49] [SPEAKER_05]: I noticed that Laurent used the same line

[00:37:51] [SPEAKER_05]: as Judith about finding a happy ending

[00:37:52] [SPEAKER_05]: is this kid chosen or a strong

[00:37:54] [SPEAKER_05]: empath excited to see how they

[00:37:57] [SPEAKER_05]: develop that storyline

[00:37:59] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah that's the question

[00:38:01] [SPEAKER_02]: alright here's Steve

[00:38:03] [SPEAKER_02]: let's see what he thought

[00:38:05] [SPEAKER_01]: hello Jason and Lucy this is Steve

[00:38:07] [SPEAKER_01]: and this is going to be for the walking

[00:38:09] [SPEAKER_01]: dead Daryl Dixon first episode

[00:38:11] [SPEAKER_01]: you have no idea how to say this title

[00:38:12] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm Purdue hey my best friend in middle

[00:38:15] [SPEAKER_01]: school was last name was Purdue

[00:38:16] [SPEAKER_01]: you supposed to like be on the other side of the boat

[00:38:18] [SPEAKER_01]: like not strapped to the bottom of it

[00:38:20] [SPEAKER_01]: do you just drink a pail full of salt water

[00:38:22] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm assuming it's salt water

[00:38:24] [SPEAKER_01]: maybe that was freshwater I don't know

[00:38:26] [SPEAKER_01]: he's got a map but what good is a map if you don't

[00:38:28] [SPEAKER_01]: know exactly where you are maybe he does no

[00:38:30] [SPEAKER_01]: worries I don't know he's just talking to a

[00:38:32] [SPEAKER_01]: tape recorder too close caption just called

[00:38:34] [SPEAKER_01]: this thing that's on the ground a lurker

[00:38:36] [SPEAKER_01]: what do they have in their body like acid or

[00:38:38] [SPEAKER_01]: something it's burning him what's cracking

[00:38:40] [SPEAKER_01]: noob would that be

[00:38:42] [SPEAKER_01]: a phrase in this world

[00:38:44] [SPEAKER_01]: that's got a flintlock they got flintlock

[00:38:46] [SPEAKER_01]: pistols I guess that would be available

[00:38:48] [SPEAKER_01]: what jerks he just helped you and now

[00:38:50] [SPEAKER_01]: your grandpa was faking it the whole time

[00:38:52] [SPEAKER_01]: and knocks you out

[00:38:54] [SPEAKER_01]: so in France we have different kind of walkers

[00:38:56] [SPEAKER_01]: a burner

[00:38:58] [SPEAKER_01]: and a

[00:38:59] [SPEAKER_01]: a sentiment

[00:39:02] [SPEAKER_01]: he said he never put stock in God and she said

[00:39:04] [SPEAKER_01]: he put stock in you yeah

[00:39:06] [SPEAKER_01]: but she called the guys that try to jump Daryl

[00:39:08] [SPEAKER_01]: the warriors

[00:39:10] [SPEAKER_01]: this kid is way too smart for his own good

[00:39:12] [SPEAKER_01]: he knows the math he knows all this stuff

[00:39:16] [SPEAKER_01]: he just said the same thing that

[00:39:18] [SPEAKER_01]: he just said the same thing that

[00:39:19] [SPEAKER_01]: you just said that you deserve happy ending

[00:39:21] [SPEAKER_01]: okay these guys are ruthless

[00:39:23] [SPEAKER_01]: they just killed the old man they're gonna make the girl

[00:39:25] [SPEAKER_01]: take them to where the dead guys are

[00:39:27] [SPEAKER_01]: I was gonna say come on Daryl

[00:39:29] [SPEAKER_01]: you're gonna break into these people's

[00:39:31] [SPEAKER_01]: closet come on oh they're crazy

[00:39:33] [SPEAKER_01]: they think the zombie can be cured or

[00:39:35] [SPEAKER_01]: can come back to life again not gonna happen

[00:39:37] [SPEAKER_01]: man seriously another

[00:39:38] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean I'm sure they're not copying

[00:39:41] [SPEAKER_01]: off the last of us a special kid

[00:39:43] [SPEAKER_01]: that Daryl's gonna have to escort to some

[00:39:45] [SPEAKER_01]: special place for him to do some special

[00:39:47] [SPEAKER_01]: thing because of a prophecy oh and

[00:39:49] [SPEAKER_01]: there's the f-word they let him say

[00:39:51] [SPEAKER_01]: I wonder how many we're gonna get this season

[00:39:52] [SPEAKER_01]: so one of the dead guys is face tattoos brother

[00:39:55] [SPEAKER_01]: he's gonna be coming after Daryl now

[00:39:56] [SPEAKER_01]: these nuns are gearing up for a fight

[00:39:58] [SPEAKER_01]: you didn't lock your door as soon as the nun left

[00:40:01] [SPEAKER_01]: as soon as Isabelle left you locked it when the bad guys

[00:40:03] [SPEAKER_01]: are in the room come on

[00:40:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Daryl to the rescue but now what are we

[00:40:07] [SPEAKER_01]: gonna die hard in the convent

[00:40:09] [SPEAKER_01]: oh no we got the nuns lining up to fight

[00:40:11] [SPEAKER_01]: that was a great effect blowing that guys head up

[00:40:14] [SPEAKER_01]: okay not to really complain

[00:40:15] [SPEAKER_01]: we all knew they were talking about Daryl

[00:40:16] [SPEAKER_01]: they didn't have to tell us his name was Dixon

[00:40:19] [SPEAKER_01]: coming up on the season wow that's gonna look good

[00:40:21] [SPEAKER_01]: alright can't wait to hear you guys

[00:40:22] [SPEAKER_01]: sorry this was a little long

[00:40:24] [SPEAKER_02]: I think the first time they said his name is Dixon

[00:40:26] [SPEAKER_02]: I was like oh

[00:40:29] [SPEAKER_02]: talking about Daryl

[00:40:31] [SPEAKER_05]: Steve they needed it in there for us

[00:40:34] [SPEAKER_05]: otherwise we'd have been like

[00:40:35] [SPEAKER_05]: do you think it's Rick

[00:40:38] [SPEAKER_10]: exactly we may have

[00:40:41] [SPEAKER_02]: maybe it was Rick

[00:40:42] [SPEAKER_02]: just going like Daryl Dixon

[00:40:43] [SPEAKER_05]: maybe it's Rick in a mask

[00:40:45] [SPEAKER_05]: who knows

[00:40:46] [SPEAKER_02]: in a Daryl mask so

[00:40:49] [SPEAKER_02]: Maribel said

[00:40:50] [SPEAKER_02]: what's cracking noob

[00:40:53] [SPEAKER_02]: I think noobs were definitely a thing

[00:40:55] [SPEAKER_02]: in 2010 when the zombie apocalypse hit

[00:40:57] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah that was like

[00:40:59] [SPEAKER_05]: mid-noughties internet wasn't it noobs

[00:41:01] [SPEAKER_05]: for sure

[00:41:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Steve is religious

[00:41:05] [SPEAKER_02]: you heard him getting choked up there

[00:41:07] [SPEAKER_02]: about some of the

[00:41:09] [SPEAKER_02]: religious quotes and Steve

[00:41:11] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm glad you're listening and I hope you keep

[00:41:13] [SPEAKER_02]: listening with us and you can write in

[00:41:14] [SPEAKER_02]: and give that viewpoint and maybe set us straight

[00:41:17] [SPEAKER_02]: a couple of times that'd be good

[00:41:20] [SPEAKER_02]: Mark Kirkman says

[00:41:21] [SPEAKER_02]: I was very skeptical about this show

[00:41:24] [SPEAKER_02]: based on what they'd previewed

[00:41:25] [SPEAKER_02]: and what the premise was months ago

[00:41:27] [SPEAKER_02]: but after one viewing I was intrigued

[00:41:29] [SPEAKER_02]: I thought of it as Gulliver's travels

[00:41:31] [SPEAKER_02]: kind of story with Daryl

[00:41:32] [SPEAKER_02]: that's interesting I'd like to see Daryl

[00:41:34] [SPEAKER_02]: as Gulliver

[00:41:36] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah we kind of is here isn't he

[00:41:38] [SPEAKER_02]: but the people are the same size

[00:41:42] [SPEAKER_02]: or

[00:41:42] [SPEAKER_02]: a stranger in a strange land

[00:41:44] [SPEAKER_02]: walking dead event I was a little annoyed

[00:41:46] [SPEAKER_02]: that Daryl was duped by the girl and the old

[00:41:48] [SPEAKER_02]: man at the beginning the character knows

[00:41:50] [SPEAKER_02]: better honestly but the story at the

[00:41:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Abbey was interesting and him with the kid

[00:41:54] [SPEAKER_02]: was interesting and basically took me out of the

[00:41:56] [SPEAKER_02]: walking dead universe but into a story

[00:41:58] [SPEAKER_02]: unto its own which is good thing I think

[00:42:00] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm hopeful about the show and I will

[00:42:02] [SPEAKER_02]: continue to watch it I think this is a fresh

[00:42:04] [SPEAKER_02]: start within the walking dead universe

[00:42:06] [SPEAKER_02]: along with Daryl's new duds as well

[00:42:09] [SPEAKER_02]: he looks like a new man

[00:42:10] [SPEAKER_02]: with a bath and a new makeover

[00:42:13] [SPEAKER_02]: overall it was a great setup for a new show

[00:42:15] [SPEAKER_02]: with a familiar character that we all

[00:42:17] [SPEAKER_02]: love and care for well said Mark

[00:42:18] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah I like that nice summary

[00:42:21] [SPEAKER_05]: Danielle de Mediost says

[00:42:22] [SPEAKER_05]: I liked it the episode was world building

[00:42:24] [SPEAKER_05]: and introduced Le Rom and sister Isabelle

[00:42:26] [SPEAKER_05]: so we would understand where they are starting from

[00:42:28] [SPEAKER_05]: it gave Daryl companions motivation

[00:42:31] [SPEAKER_05]: and a destination so the rest of the season

[00:42:33] [SPEAKER_05]: has drive I think the language

[00:42:35] [SPEAKER_05]: burial world decreased with time but it adds

[00:42:37] [SPEAKER_05]: an interesting challenge I don't mind

[00:42:39] [SPEAKER_05]: the slow pace and enjoyed seeing this new environment

[00:42:41] [SPEAKER_05]: it's a little odd to see Daryl

[00:42:43] [SPEAKER_05]: all on his own without anyone else from

[00:42:45] [SPEAKER_05]: our group the burners are quite a mystery

[00:42:47] [SPEAKER_05]: to me and I can't wait to find out more about

[00:42:49] [SPEAKER_05]: them I'm very much looking forward to the

[00:42:51] [SPEAKER_05]: show and Lucy I'm so sorry

[00:42:53] [SPEAKER_05]: I missed the deadline to send in my sentiments

[00:42:55] [SPEAKER_05]: for your very special episode

[00:42:56] [SPEAKER_05]: oh Danielle I can't tell you how much

[00:42:59] [SPEAKER_05]: I've enjoyed getting to know you since you joined the podcast

[00:43:01] [SPEAKER_05]: you always bring an intelligent

[00:43:03] [SPEAKER_05]: and thoughtful perspective to the conversations

[00:43:05] [SPEAKER_05]: I really hope life is starting to settle

[00:43:07] [SPEAKER_05]: down for you love heart oh Danielle

[00:43:09] [SPEAKER_05]: I really appreciate that thank you

[00:43:11] [SPEAKER_05]: I always love it when you write in

[00:43:13] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah it's nice

[00:43:15] [SPEAKER_02]: thanks Danielle Randy

[00:43:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Stevenson my creative

[00:43:19] [SPEAKER_02]: and funny co-host from the white lotus

[00:43:21] [SPEAKER_02]: says dead city

[00:43:23] [SPEAKER_02]: was everybody once Negan

[00:43:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Daryl in Paris is everybody once

[00:43:27] [SPEAKER_02]: Dixon I suspect the ones

[00:43:29] [SPEAKER_02]: who live will be everybody once Rick

[00:43:31] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah I get

[00:43:33] [SPEAKER_02]: that they are main characters but I don't

[00:43:35] [SPEAKER_02]: need them to be the center of every conflict

[00:43:37] [SPEAKER_02]: it's feeling too young adult

[00:43:39] [SPEAKER_02]: novel to me Daryl seems like a great

[00:43:41] [SPEAKER_02]: character to buck that trend with though

[00:43:43] [SPEAKER_02]: or at least at the very least poke

[00:43:45] [SPEAKER_02]: some fun at it he does a bit

[00:43:47] [SPEAKER_02]: by leaving when the sisters explained

[00:43:49] [SPEAKER_02]: what they wanted from him but I really

[00:43:51] [SPEAKER_02]: wanted him to full on belly laugh after

[00:43:53] [SPEAKER_02]: being told the kid was the Messiah

[00:43:55] [SPEAKER_02]: it would have been a great spot for Daryl

[00:43:57] [SPEAKER_02]: to finally crack after this long

[00:43:59] [SPEAKER_02]: in the apocalypse I'm still interested

[00:44:01] [SPEAKER_02]: in this series and the visuals are

[00:44:02] [SPEAKER_02]: spectacular but I want more from the

[00:44:04] [SPEAKER_02]: storytelling how are you guys feeling

[00:44:06] [SPEAKER_02]: about having another villain named

[00:44:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Jenny JeanƩ

[00:44:12] [SPEAKER_02]: interesting

[00:44:14] [SPEAKER_02]: being about the character

[00:44:15] [SPEAKER_02]: being the center of the story I feel

[00:44:16] [SPEAKER_02]: like

[00:44:18] [SPEAKER_02]: it's interesting because that

[00:44:20] [SPEAKER_02]: reminds me of the Mad Max movie Mad Max

[00:44:23] [SPEAKER_02]: Fury Road did you ever see that yeah

[00:44:25] [SPEAKER_02]: it was so good and

[00:44:27] [SPEAKER_02]: one of the cool things about it was

[00:44:29] [SPEAKER_02]: Mad Max was kind of a side character

[00:44:30] [SPEAKER_02]: in it you know and that was

[00:44:33] [SPEAKER_02]: unexpected

[00:44:35] [SPEAKER_02]: but I would

[00:44:36] [SPEAKER_02]: think that if either one of if any of

[00:44:39] [SPEAKER_02]: these series I think the brick and

[00:44:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Michonne ones just a mini series I don't

[00:44:43] [SPEAKER_02]: know but anyway if the Daryl series goes on

[00:44:44] [SPEAKER_02]: for more seasons maybe

[00:44:46] [SPEAKER_02]: it will turn into more less

[00:44:49] [SPEAKER_02]: of him being the center of it but I

[00:44:51] [SPEAKER_02]: don't see why I mean even now

[00:44:53] [SPEAKER_02]: it's about this kid Laurent you know

[00:44:56] [SPEAKER_05]: Laurent Dixon

[00:44:58] [SPEAKER_05]: Jenny and Laurent

[00:44:59] [SPEAKER_05]: are walking dead story

[00:45:02] [SPEAKER_05]: Charlotte Bailey says

[00:45:04] [SPEAKER_05]: I just finished the episode and I really liked

[00:45:06] [SPEAKER_05]: it a couple of things really stuck out to me

[00:45:07] [SPEAKER_05]: one was the nuns I loved all

[00:45:10] [SPEAKER_05]: female except for Laurent

[00:45:11] [SPEAKER_05]: in the Dead Father community where they

[00:45:13] [SPEAKER_05]: were self-sufficient had taught themselves to fight

[00:45:15] [SPEAKER_05]: but were still kind and helped others

[00:45:16] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm slightly offended that they almost

[00:45:19] [SPEAKER_05]: all died after surviving for 12 years

[00:45:21] [SPEAKER_05]: Charlotte yes

[00:45:22] [SPEAKER_05]: valid point but I get

[00:45:25] [SPEAKER_05]: that it had to move the plot on

[00:45:27] [SPEAKER_05]: something else I liked was the main bad guy

[00:45:29] [SPEAKER_05]: with a face tattoo cried in like

[00:45:31] [SPEAKER_05]: the second scene we saw him in broke down

[00:45:33] [SPEAKER_05]: sobbing which is super rare for us to see

[00:45:35] [SPEAKER_05]: a male villain do that so thank you France

[00:45:36] [SPEAKER_05]: for letting your men cry I am also loving

[00:45:39] [SPEAKER_05]: the European architecture and the

[00:45:40] [SPEAKER_05]: landscape and the music I'm getting a

[00:45:43] [SPEAKER_05]: kind of steampunk hippie fantastical

[00:45:45] [SPEAKER_05]: vibe and I'm here for all of it can't

[00:45:47] [SPEAKER_05]: wait to see what's next I'm not sure about

[00:45:48] [SPEAKER_05]: that giant ship at the end with the lady who's looking for

[00:45:50] [SPEAKER_05]: dire although don't love that but if it

[00:45:52] [SPEAKER_05]: plays into the plot well I'll allow it

[00:45:57] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah that comment about him

[00:45:58] [SPEAKER_02]: crying actually makes me appreciate him

[00:46:00] [SPEAKER_02]: as a character a little bit more

[00:46:01] [SPEAKER_05]: give us a bit of depth doesn't it rather than

[00:46:04] [SPEAKER_05]: just being like a terminator robot kind of

[00:46:06] [SPEAKER_05]: like I would find you and I will kill you

[00:46:07] [SPEAKER_05]: it's like oh he's sad about it

[00:46:10] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah yeah his brother died

[00:46:11] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah all right here is Lara

[00:46:16] [SPEAKER_03]: hi Jason and Lucy this is Lara

[00:46:18] [SPEAKER_03]: so we are starting on Darryl Dixon

[00:46:21] [SPEAKER_03]: okay so I will admit I tried to watch

[00:46:24] [SPEAKER_03]: last night and be very impartial and not

[00:46:27] [SPEAKER_03]: let my biases get in the way but I can

[00:46:29] [SPEAKER_03]: help it I love everything in this show

[00:46:32] [SPEAKER_03]: so far I mean from the beautiful vistas

[00:46:34] [SPEAKER_03]: of southern France and all that gorgeous

[00:46:37] [SPEAKER_03]: Gothic architecture the acid walkers

[00:46:41] [SPEAKER_03]: the sisterhood of killer nuns and Darryl

[00:46:43] [SPEAKER_03]: and Dixon oh it was so good

[00:46:45] [SPEAKER_03]: I'll start first with a couple of

[00:46:48] [SPEAKER_03]: bads that I had

[00:46:49] [SPEAKER_03]: I really wasn't into the opening credits

[00:46:51] [SPEAKER_03]: so much and the music

[00:46:53] [SPEAKER_03]: just didn't strike me is that interesting

[00:46:56] [SPEAKER_03]: but maybe it'll grow on me

[00:46:57] [SPEAKER_03]: and other thing I kind of didn't

[00:46:59] [SPEAKER_03]: really like was that bathtub scene

[00:47:01] [SPEAKER_03]: with Isabelle and Darryl

[00:47:03] [SPEAKER_03]: it felt like some pandering to female

[00:47:06] [SPEAKER_03]: fans with Darryl in the bathtub

[00:47:09] [SPEAKER_03]: and a bit too much exposition

[00:47:11] [SPEAKER_03]: I felt a bit cringe about it

[00:47:13] [SPEAKER_03]: but for all the goods I love

[00:47:15] [SPEAKER_03]: Clements-Posay she is so beautiful

[00:47:17] [SPEAKER_03]: she has this calm demeanor

[00:47:20] [SPEAKER_03]: but kind of a hidden fierceness about her

[00:47:22] [SPEAKER_03]: and this kid Laurent oh my gosh

[00:47:25] [SPEAKER_03]: I already love him he already

[00:47:27] [SPEAKER_03]: shows such a sweetness but he's smart

[00:47:30] [SPEAKER_03]: and sassy and reminds me of another

[00:47:32] [SPEAKER_03]: precious little ass kicker across the ocean

[00:47:35] [SPEAKER_03]: he repeats the same words that

[00:47:38] [SPEAKER_03]: Judith said to him which already

[00:47:40] [SPEAKER_03]: makes him this magical child but

[00:47:42] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if he's actually

[00:47:44] [SPEAKER_03]: the Messiah as Isabelle is telling Darryl

[00:47:46] [SPEAKER_03]: but there's obviously something

[00:47:48] [SPEAKER_03]: special about him I also

[00:47:50] [SPEAKER_03]: really like our first big baddie

[00:47:52] [SPEAKER_03]: Kodron I believe his name is

[00:47:54] [SPEAKER_03]: he's not an over the top

[00:47:56] [SPEAKER_03]: comic bookie villain like Negan

[00:47:58] [SPEAKER_03]: or another ineffectual

[00:48:00] [SPEAKER_03]: villain like I don't know

[00:48:02] [SPEAKER_03]: half the antagonist on fear

[00:48:04] [SPEAKER_03]: but a real proper bad guy

[00:48:06] [SPEAKER_03]: who is menacing cold

[00:48:08] [SPEAKER_03]: and straight up murderous

[00:48:10] [SPEAKER_03]: I really enjoyed the

[00:48:12] [SPEAKER_03]: Abbey and the sisters I'm bummed

[00:48:13] [SPEAKER_03]: that we're so quickly dispatching

[00:48:15] [SPEAKER_03]: with them because I just wanted to

[00:48:18] [SPEAKER_03]: stay in that Abbey a little longer

[00:48:19] [SPEAKER_03]: it was so beautiful I really

[00:48:22] [SPEAKER_03]: would like to find out where they shot that

[00:48:24] [SPEAKER_03]: and I saw Darryl snag

[00:48:26] [SPEAKER_03]: a flail from that weapon room so

[00:48:27] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm hoping that's gonna be check-off

[00:48:29] [SPEAKER_03]: flail and that we get to see him

[00:48:31] [SPEAKER_03]: in the future using it I don't

[00:48:34] [SPEAKER_03]: wanna see a bunch of guns we're not

[00:48:35] [SPEAKER_03]: in America anymore I want all

[00:48:37] [SPEAKER_03]: the medieval melee weaponry

[00:48:39] [SPEAKER_03]: if they at some point

[00:48:41] [SPEAKER_03]: wheel out a tribuchet

[00:48:43] [SPEAKER_03]: and fling walkers into a wild city

[00:48:46] [SPEAKER_03]: I'd be all for it yes please

[00:48:48] [SPEAKER_03]: bring all the crazy

[00:48:50] [SPEAKER_03]: crazy medieval weapons

[00:48:52] [SPEAKER_03]: into play Darryl needs

[00:48:54] [SPEAKER_02]: to go to the UK and find X caliber

[00:48:58] [SPEAKER_03]: open skull

[00:48:58] [SPEAKER_03]: in Scotland right

[00:49:00] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm also glad that the

[00:49:02] [SPEAKER_03]: show is bringing up the topic of

[00:49:04] [SPEAKER_03]: the faith

[00:49:05] [SPEAKER_03]: in apoclyptic

[00:49:08] [SPEAKER_03]: time tongue-tie

[00:49:10] [SPEAKER_03]: it was a touch

[00:49:11] [SPEAKER_03]: there was a touch of that in the beginning

[00:49:14] [SPEAKER_03]: with Herschel and in

[00:49:15] [SPEAKER_03]: the early walking dead years but

[00:49:18] [SPEAKER_03]: a little bit also with

[00:49:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Gabriel but you would think

[00:49:21] [SPEAKER_03]: in the apocalypse or at the end of days

[00:49:23] [SPEAKER_03]: faith would be a really big issue

[00:49:26] [SPEAKER_03]: and I don't think it should be

[00:49:27] [SPEAKER_03]: the crux of the show but I'm glad to

[00:49:30] [SPEAKER_03]: see some people of faith trying to carry the torch

[00:49:32] [SPEAKER_03]: for hope rather than being

[00:49:33] [SPEAKER_03]: hateful zealots for once

[00:49:36] [SPEAKER_03]: overall

[00:49:38] [SPEAKER_03]: this premiere had

[00:49:39] [SPEAKER_03]: a new fresh feeling to me and I love

[00:49:42] [SPEAKER_03]: the European setting I like

[00:49:44] [SPEAKER_03]: Darryl's new European look with

[00:49:45] [SPEAKER_03]: suspenders and all

[00:49:47] [SPEAKER_03]: and I already like the new characters so

[00:49:50] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm excited to see some variant

[00:49:51] [SPEAKER_03]: walkers and yeah this is the first

[00:49:54] [SPEAKER_03]: time in a really long time

[00:49:56] [SPEAKER_03]: that I'm super excited for the walking

[00:49:58] [SPEAKER_03]: dead so 9.5 out

[00:50:00] [SPEAKER_03]: of 10 croissants for me

[00:50:02] [SPEAKER_03]: hope you guys like it and

[00:50:04] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm excited to hear what you

[00:50:06] [SPEAKER_03]: say

[00:50:06] [SPEAKER_03]: A bientƓt

[00:50:10] [SPEAKER_05]: we love Lara

[00:50:11] [SPEAKER_10]: that was great

[00:50:12] [SPEAKER_02]: so I don't want to push this too much

[00:50:15] [SPEAKER_02]: a lot of people have been saying they don't like the bathtub

[00:50:18] [SPEAKER_02]: scene and

[00:50:20] [SPEAKER_02]: I can totally understand that

[00:50:21] [SPEAKER_02]: but I'm just trying to figure out why

[00:50:23] [SPEAKER_02]: why don't I totally agree with that

[00:50:25] [SPEAKER_02]: and I think it's because to me

[00:50:27] [SPEAKER_02]: well it reminds me of

[00:50:29] [SPEAKER_02]: like the early 2000s when I was

[00:50:31] [SPEAKER_02]: in my like raver burning mandays

[00:50:32] [SPEAKER_02]: and I found myself in situations where

[00:50:35] [SPEAKER_02]: there was nudity right and

[00:50:36] [SPEAKER_02]: you kind of learned oh you need

[00:50:39] [SPEAKER_02]: to just be chill about this and not

[00:50:41] [SPEAKER_02]: be like make a big deal

[00:50:43] [SPEAKER_02]: out of it and then it feels like

[00:50:46] [SPEAKER_02]: that's kind of refreshing

[00:50:47] [SPEAKER_02]: like oh yeah why should I care

[00:50:49] [SPEAKER_02]: like I don't care

[00:50:51] [SPEAKER_02]: and then I don't know it just

[00:50:53] [SPEAKER_02]: lends this feeling of

[00:50:55] [SPEAKER_02]: being

[00:50:57] [SPEAKER_02]: more mature about things

[00:50:58] [SPEAKER_02]: like that or where you can kind of look

[00:51:00] [SPEAKER_02]: at each other as people

[00:51:03] [SPEAKER_02]: rather than as objects

[00:51:05] [SPEAKER_02]: if that makes any sense

[00:51:06] [SPEAKER_02]: you know and so

[00:51:08] [SPEAKER_02]: when he's there and she comes in

[00:51:10] [SPEAKER_02]: and he I thought that too

[00:51:12] [SPEAKER_02]: I thought well that's a bit intrusive he's taking

[00:51:14] [SPEAKER_02]: a bath but it

[00:51:16] [SPEAKER_02]: as time went on it made me just feel

[00:51:19] [SPEAKER_02]: more like okay I think that

[00:51:20] [SPEAKER_02]: means there's something between this characters where

[00:51:22] [SPEAKER_02]: they're sort of beyond that you know it's not

[00:51:24] [SPEAKER_02]: an issue it's not like

[00:51:26] [SPEAKER_02]: a giggly teenager you're naked

[00:51:28] [SPEAKER_02]: you know it's just like we're not going to worry about that

[00:51:30] [SPEAKER_02]: where you know we were respecting

[00:51:32] [SPEAKER_02]: each other there's like a kind of a chemistry

[00:51:35] [SPEAKER_02]: or when I say

[00:51:36] [SPEAKER_02]: chemistry that gives the wrong

[00:51:38] [SPEAKER_02]: idea but there's just some

[00:51:40] [SPEAKER_02]: intimacy that makes it feel like these

[00:51:43] [SPEAKER_02]: two characters have

[00:51:45] [SPEAKER_02]: they could have a friendship

[00:51:46] [SPEAKER_02]: like Carol and Darryl

[00:51:48] [SPEAKER_02]: you know but I can't imagine Darryl

[00:51:50] [SPEAKER_05]: doing that with Carol

[00:51:53] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah you don't think so

[00:51:54] [SPEAKER_05]: no I don't think so I think it'd be weird

[00:51:56] [SPEAKER_05]: I think the thing that

[00:51:58] [SPEAKER_05]: really like yeah I just feel like Darryl

[00:52:00] [SPEAKER_05]: is not somebody who

[00:52:02] [SPEAKER_05]: lets his guard down easily and I think

[00:52:04] [SPEAKER_05]: you know we

[00:52:06] [SPEAKER_05]: have barely seen Darryl with his

[00:52:08] [SPEAKER_05]: shirt off even like

[00:52:10] [SPEAKER_05]: you know what I mean it just felt like a real departure

[00:52:12] [SPEAKER_05]: for him to suddenly be like

[00:52:14] [SPEAKER_05]: full on naked in the bath maybe he had

[00:52:16] [SPEAKER_05]: his pants on who's to say

[00:52:19] [SPEAKER_02]: but I guess that's what I'm saying is the fact

[00:52:21] [SPEAKER_02]: that he doesn't usually do that made me

[00:52:23] [SPEAKER_02]: feel like okay he has a real strong

[00:52:24] [SPEAKER_02]: feeling about her that he could trust her

[00:52:26] [SPEAKER_02]: that he would let her come in

[00:52:28] [SPEAKER_02]: but you know like I said

[00:52:30] [SPEAKER_02]: I understand

[00:52:32] [SPEAKER_05]: hallucinating from all the sea war he drank

[00:52:35] [SPEAKER_05]: both can be true

[00:52:36] [SPEAKER_02]: highly likely yeah

[00:52:38] [SPEAKER_02]: okay Gemma Hall says

[00:52:40] [SPEAKER_02]: a good start I thought he's already made

[00:52:42] [SPEAKER_02]: a few enemies there was some nice symmetry

[00:52:44] [SPEAKER_02]: between Darryl finding Merle as a walker

[00:52:46] [SPEAKER_02]: and crying and pushing him away to this tattoo

[00:52:48] [SPEAKER_02]: guy doing the same thing yep

[00:52:50] [SPEAKER_02]: some parallels there I liked Laurent

[00:52:52] [SPEAKER_02]: the scenery of a decrepit

[00:52:54] [SPEAKER_02]: France was good to see the nuns

[00:52:57] [SPEAKER_02]: at the Abbey reminded me

[00:52:58] [SPEAKER_02]: of sound and music Darryl letting

[00:53:01] [SPEAKER_02]: Issa bathe him

[00:53:02] [SPEAKER_02]: was wow I'm like this is the sexiest

[00:53:05] [SPEAKER_02]: scene you've ever seen of Darryl let alone

[00:53:06] [SPEAKER_02]: him taking an actual bath

[00:53:09] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah

[00:53:11] [SPEAKER_02]: good job

[00:53:12] [SPEAKER_02]: the water was cloudy I checked

[00:53:14] [SPEAKER_02]: overall I enjoyed it

[00:53:16] [SPEAKER_02]: it was Darryl Dixon zombies

[00:53:18] [SPEAKER_02]: France what's not to like

[00:53:20] [SPEAKER_02]: and then Brenda Tackett

[00:53:22] [SPEAKER_02]: answered her he washed his body

[00:53:24] [SPEAKER_02]: but his hair still looks basically untouched

[00:53:26] [SPEAKER_02]: and then Sam Lowe said

[00:53:28] [SPEAKER_02]: only Darryl could get washed twice

[00:53:30] [SPEAKER_02]: and still look dirty

[00:53:33] [SPEAKER_05]: I love that Lara's

[00:53:35] [SPEAKER_05]: like I just feel like this might have played to the female audience

[00:53:37] [SPEAKER_05]: and we're like yeah

[00:53:38] [SPEAKER_05]: right

[00:53:40] [SPEAKER_06]: that's funny

[00:53:42] [SPEAKER_05]: I love that

[00:53:44] [SPEAKER_05]: Sadie Wright says

[00:53:46] [SPEAKER_05]: I'll need a rewatch

[00:53:47] [SPEAKER_05]: but on first go I enjoyed it

[00:53:49] [SPEAKER_05]: the setting was beautiful and felt very cinematic

[00:53:51] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm glad we got the answer to how

[00:53:53] [SPEAKER_05]: Darryl ends up in France I was worried this

[00:53:55] [SPEAKER_05]: would be a plot point dragged out and not answered

[00:53:57] [SPEAKER_05]: until episode 6 if at all

[00:53:59] [SPEAKER_05]: after Darryl left the convent

[00:54:01] [SPEAKER_05]: and saw the bad guys headed that way

[00:54:03] [SPEAKER_05]: I figured he wouldn't know about there

[00:54:04] [SPEAKER_05]: but then that scene was so interesting

[00:54:06] [SPEAKER_05]: that I almost totally forgot about Darryl

[00:54:09] [SPEAKER_05]: and was just instead invested in that story

[00:54:12] [SPEAKER_05]: so when Darryl did come back to the rescue

[00:54:14] [SPEAKER_05]: albeit a bit late it was a great fuck yeah

[00:54:16] [SPEAKER_05]: the plot is way too reminiscent of the last of us

[00:54:20] [SPEAKER_05]: so that's disappointing

[00:54:21] [SPEAKER_05]: Laurent is some kind of genius

[00:54:22] [SPEAKER_05]: or the product or very robust educational system

[00:54:25] [SPEAKER_05]: at the convent who speaks perfect English

[00:54:27] [SPEAKER_05]: I love that the nuns are bad asses

[00:54:29] [SPEAKER_05]: and self trained weapons experts

[00:54:31] [SPEAKER_05]: I also like that even as such

[00:54:32] [SPEAKER_05]: several of them were killed in that incident

[00:54:34] [SPEAKER_05]: with those guys which felt more realistic

[00:54:36] [SPEAKER_05]: than if they'd single handedly defeated all of them

[00:54:38] [SPEAKER_05]: not sure what to think about the locked up zombie priest

[00:54:41] [SPEAKER_05]: what a great Halloween costume that would be

[00:54:43] [SPEAKER_05]: looking forward to the podcast

[00:54:45] [SPEAKER_05]: and hearing what everyone's thoughts are

[00:54:46] [SPEAKER_05]: like Sadie

[00:54:48] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah we didn't get zombie nuns but at least we got a zombie priest

[00:54:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Tracy Walker says so far after one episode

[00:54:56] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm more invested in this than in Dead City

[00:54:58] [SPEAKER_02]: I think it's partially because I'm really drawn to history

[00:55:01] [SPEAKER_02]: and having it set in France with the Abbey

[00:55:03] [SPEAKER_02]: and the nuns made the whole thing almost medieval

[00:55:05] [SPEAKER_02]: the fact that there are so many subtitles

[00:55:08] [SPEAKER_02]: means I have to pay attention

[00:55:10] [SPEAKER_02]: and my attention won't wander to my phone

[00:55:12] [SPEAKER_02]: and then she wrote back a day later

[00:55:14] [SPEAKER_02]: now that I've ruminated on it

[00:55:16] [SPEAKER_02]: I figured out a few reasons why I really like this

[00:55:18] [SPEAKER_02]: when I met about Dead City

[00:55:19] [SPEAKER_02]: the medieval atmosphere makes it

[00:55:21] [SPEAKER_02]: perfect for a little

[00:55:23] [SPEAKER_02]: quote is it supernatural or is it psychological

[00:55:26] [SPEAKER_02]: a la yellow jackets

[00:55:27] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah it does

[00:55:29] [SPEAKER_02]: there's a precedent for supernatural within the universe

[00:55:31] [SPEAKER_02]: the Parker Posey episode of

[00:55:33] [SPEAKER_02]: Tales of the Walking Dead had a time loop episode

[00:55:35] [SPEAKER_05]: oh that was great to be fair

[00:55:37] [SPEAKER_02]: by the way we haven't talked about it

[00:55:39] [SPEAKER_02]: but they're working on some like

[00:55:41] [SPEAKER_02]: mini episodes that are

[00:55:43] [SPEAKER_02]: like Tales of the Walking Dead but smaller

[00:55:45] [SPEAKER_02]: and I don't know when or how those are

[00:55:47] [SPEAKER_02]: going to be released

[00:55:48] [SPEAKER_05]: I like some of the stuff they did

[00:55:50] [SPEAKER_02]: me too but I think I don't know if it's

[00:55:53] [SPEAKER_02]: the same people doing it or what

[00:55:54] [SPEAKER_02]: and I haven't heard anything about

[00:55:56] [SPEAKER_02]: I feel like that show in that format

[00:55:59] [SPEAKER_02]: is it

[00:56:00] [SPEAKER_02]: you know I don't think it's going to be coming back

[00:56:02] [SPEAKER_02]: which is a bummer because I actually really liked it

[00:56:04] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah it was great I had the

[00:56:06] [SPEAKER_05]: French Amish thing which I just loved

[00:56:08] [SPEAKER_02]: so weird

[00:56:10] [SPEAKER_02]: she goes on I'm intrigued by Isabel

[00:56:12] [SPEAKER_02]: I definitely don't think she was always a nun

[00:56:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Darrell being alone

[00:56:16] [SPEAKER_02]: and a fish out of water is more interesting to me than

[00:56:18] [SPEAKER_02]: the ongoing fight between Maggie and Negan

[00:56:20] [SPEAKER_02]: the only interesting thing to me would be

[00:56:23] [SPEAKER_02]: a will there won't they

[00:56:24] [SPEAKER_02]: and since I definitely wouldn't want that I don't really care

[00:56:30] [SPEAKER_02]: aww

[00:56:30] [SPEAKER_02]: I would say I'd be more interested

[00:56:32] [SPEAKER_02]: if Negan were dropped in a strange country

[00:56:34] [SPEAKER_02]: and had to find his way

[00:56:36] [SPEAKER_02]: like what country

[00:56:38] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know

[00:56:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Russia

[00:56:40] [SPEAKER_05]: I have to say some Americans don't have a great reputation in Europe

[00:56:43] [SPEAKER_05]: and I don't think Negan would necessarily

[00:56:45] [SPEAKER_05]: fit in with the local spread

[00:56:46] [SPEAKER_02]: go over so well yeah

[00:56:48] [SPEAKER_02]: visuals I think devastation is more interesting

[00:56:51] [SPEAKER_02]: if you show us some beauty too

[00:56:53] [SPEAKER_02]: endless gray is just kind of boring

[00:56:55] [SPEAKER_02]: France remains beautiful no matter how many centuries

[00:56:57] [SPEAKER_02]: of destruction has been brought down on it

[00:56:59] [SPEAKER_05]: mmm

[00:57:00] [SPEAKER_02]: yep

[00:57:02] [SPEAKER_02]: well said

[00:57:04] [SPEAKER_02]: all right let's go on to our next call from

[00:57:06] [SPEAKER_02]: Robin Springer

[00:57:07] [SPEAKER_08]: Robin Springer

[00:57:08] [SPEAKER_08]: Hey y'all Robin from Georgia here it's good to be back

[00:57:12] [SPEAKER_08]: it's been a long time it's been good to hear your voices

[00:57:14] [SPEAKER_08]: in the previous two

[00:57:16] [SPEAKER_08]: Darrell Dixon podcast that you did

[00:57:18] [SPEAKER_08]: I liked the episode a lot

[00:57:22] [SPEAKER_08]: the opening sequence

[00:57:24] [SPEAKER_08]: is stunning

[00:57:25] [SPEAKER_08]: it'll be interesting to see if they

[00:57:27] [SPEAKER_08]: change it up as they go along through the course

[00:57:29] [SPEAKER_08]: of the

[00:57:31] [SPEAKER_08]: series

[00:57:33] [SPEAKER_08]: enjoying Darrell I think

[00:57:35] [SPEAKER_08]: Norman Reedus is really quite compelling

[00:57:37] [SPEAKER_08]: he was not Darrell Dixon

[00:57:39] [SPEAKER_08]: was never really my big favorite

[00:57:40] [SPEAKER_08]: during the Walking Dead

[00:57:42] [SPEAKER_08]: but I can see he's really growing on me

[00:57:45] [SPEAKER_08]: in this program

[00:57:47] [SPEAKER_08]: I think he's going to be

[00:57:49] [SPEAKER_08]: really good in this

[00:57:50] [SPEAKER_08]: I enjoy the other characters

[00:57:53] [SPEAKER_08]: Sister Isabelle I'm a little bit leery

[00:57:55] [SPEAKER_08]: about her a little skeptical

[00:57:57] [SPEAKER_08]: she's a zealot so of course

[00:57:59] [SPEAKER_08]: her motives are going to be

[00:58:01] [SPEAKER_08]: a little bit suspect sometimes

[00:58:04] [SPEAKER_08]: not really sure

[00:58:05] [SPEAKER_08]: with her what's happening

[00:58:06] [SPEAKER_08]: the little boy of course Laurent is

[00:58:09] [SPEAKER_08]: stunning beautiful

[00:58:11] [SPEAKER_08]: clearly brilliant

[00:58:12] [SPEAKER_08]: is he the Messiah? Who knows

[00:58:14] [SPEAKER_08]: and poor Sylvie

[00:58:17] [SPEAKER_08]: just tagging along she's the only one left

[00:58:19] [SPEAKER_08]: I had to laugh a little bit

[00:58:22] [SPEAKER_08]: as I was watching it because

[00:58:23] [SPEAKER_08]: as always our guys arrive

[00:58:25] [SPEAKER_08]: at a beautiful place that has

[00:58:27] [SPEAKER_08]: been able to survive

[00:58:28] [SPEAKER_08]: they're doing well the abbey is in good shape

[00:58:31] [SPEAKER_08]: it's beautiful the well kept

[00:58:33] [SPEAKER_08]: they're growing

[00:58:35] [SPEAKER_08]: stuff and they've trained themselves

[00:58:37] [SPEAKER_08]: with weapons and as soon as he arrives

[00:58:39] [SPEAKER_08]: the whole thing goes to shit

[00:58:41] [SPEAKER_08]: you know and they're done

[00:58:44] [SPEAKER_08]: as always

[00:58:45] [SPEAKER_08]: with our guys

[00:58:47] [SPEAKER_08]: I'm a little bit confused

[00:58:49] [SPEAKER_08]: about the

[00:58:51] [SPEAKER_08]: timeline

[00:58:53] [SPEAKER_08]: slash geography

[00:58:55] [SPEAKER_08]: the ship that

[00:58:57] [SPEAKER_08]: Daryl got

[00:58:59] [SPEAKER_08]: thrown off of is in

[00:59:01] [SPEAKER_08]: the north of France

[00:59:03] [SPEAKER_08]: in Le Arbre

[00:59:04] [SPEAKER_08]: sorry about my pronunciation

[00:59:07] [SPEAKER_08]: Daryl washed ashore

[00:59:09] [SPEAKER_08]: in the south of France

[00:59:11] [SPEAKER_08]: of course we don't know how long

[00:59:13] [SPEAKER_08]: it took him to hike over all the

[00:59:15] [SPEAKER_08]: Roman aqueducts and the mountains

[00:59:17] [SPEAKER_08]: and all that to get to the abbey

[00:59:19] [SPEAKER_08]: when he met the young woman

[00:59:21] [SPEAKER_08]: and the old man

[00:59:23] [SPEAKER_08]: the soldiers from

[00:59:25] [SPEAKER_08]: the ship were already

[00:59:27] [SPEAKER_08]: looking for him

[00:59:29] [SPEAKER_08]: how did they know where he washed up

[00:59:31] [SPEAKER_08]: how did they know where he was at

[00:59:34] [SPEAKER_08]: um

[00:59:35] [SPEAKER_08]: a little confused

[00:59:37] [SPEAKER_08]: about that was

[00:59:39] [SPEAKER_08]: sister Isabelle watching him

[00:59:41] [SPEAKER_08]: much longer than

[00:59:43] [SPEAKER_08]: we think

[00:59:45] [SPEAKER_08]: and she was reporting to the

[00:59:47] [SPEAKER_08]: people on the ship

[00:59:49] [SPEAKER_08]: that he was there

[00:59:51] [SPEAKER_08]: I don't know

[00:59:53] [SPEAKER_08]: and now they're on the

[00:59:55] [SPEAKER_08]: road to

[00:59:57] [SPEAKER_08]: go to the north of France

[00:59:58] [SPEAKER_08]: to Le Arbre

[01:00:01] [SPEAKER_08]: yeah so

[01:00:03] [SPEAKER_08]: I'm a little confused about all that

[01:00:05] [SPEAKER_08]: but I'm interested to find out

[01:00:07] [SPEAKER_08]: what the bunch of bad decisions was

[01:00:08] [SPEAKER_08]: that he made that got him

[01:00:11] [SPEAKER_08]: on that ship in the first place

[01:00:12] [SPEAKER_08]: I'm sure they'll reveal all of that

[01:00:14] [SPEAKER_08]: as we go along

[01:00:16] [SPEAKER_08]: so I'm looking forward

[01:00:18] [SPEAKER_08]: to the rest of the sea

[01:00:20] [SPEAKER_08]: I did like

[01:00:23] [SPEAKER_08]: Dead City but already

[01:00:25] [SPEAKER_08]: I can see that

[01:00:26] [SPEAKER_08]: this program, the Daryl Dixon

[01:00:28] [SPEAKER_08]: program seems to be

[01:00:30] [SPEAKER_08]: a little

[01:00:31] [SPEAKER_08]: can you really tell from just the premiere

[01:00:34] [SPEAKER_08]: but it seems like it might be

[01:00:35] [SPEAKER_08]: a little more put together and a little bit

[01:00:40] [SPEAKER_08]: maybe

[01:00:40] [SPEAKER_08]: I don't know if the word better is the right word

[01:00:43] [SPEAKER_08]: but

[01:00:44] [SPEAKER_08]: the Maggie Negan thing

[01:00:46] [SPEAKER_08]: you know, oh, yawn

[01:00:48] [SPEAKER_08]: and so just having it be a completely different

[01:00:51] [SPEAKER_08]: story with Daryl

[01:00:52] [SPEAKER_08]: doing things that he's never done before

[01:00:54] [SPEAKER_08]: and being really kind of a character that

[01:00:56] [SPEAKER_08]: we are going to unlock a lot of

[01:00:59] [SPEAKER_08]: stuff about I think even though we've known

[01:01:01] [SPEAKER_08]: him for a long time there's a lot in there

[01:01:02] [SPEAKER_08]: that we don't know about him

[01:01:04] [SPEAKER_08]: I think this is going to be a really good show

[01:01:06] [SPEAKER_08]: anyway sorry to go on so long

[01:01:08] [SPEAKER_08]: good talking to you

[01:01:09] [SPEAKER_08]: I'm sure we'll talk again soon

[01:01:11] [SPEAKER_08]: bye y'all

[01:01:12] [SPEAKER_08]: I always love Robins Calls

[01:01:15] [SPEAKER_05]: so nice to hear from you

[01:01:17] [SPEAKER_02]: so they mentioned

[01:01:19] [SPEAKER_02]: the

[01:01:20] [SPEAKER_02]: bad guys at the port of La Ava

[01:01:24] [SPEAKER_02]: La Ava

[01:01:25] [SPEAKER_02]: mentioned that they

[01:01:27] [SPEAKER_02]: got rid of Daryl

[01:01:29] [SPEAKER_02]: or he escaped in the Bay of Cadiz

[01:01:31] [SPEAKER_02]: and that's actually

[01:01:33] [SPEAKER_02]: off the coast of Spain

[01:01:36] [SPEAKER_02]: I believe

[01:01:36] [SPEAKER_02]: and so

[01:01:38] [SPEAKER_02]: it's like

[01:01:40] [SPEAKER_02]: a good several hundred miles

[01:01:42] [SPEAKER_02]: to get to the south of France

[01:01:44] [SPEAKER_02]: from there so he

[01:01:47] [SPEAKER_02]: must have been

[01:01:48] [SPEAKER_02]: floating for a long time which is why

[01:01:50] [SPEAKER_02]: he was so thirsty I guess right

[01:01:52] [SPEAKER_02]: and that's why

[01:01:54] [SPEAKER_02]: the ship I guess unless the time

[01:01:56] [SPEAKER_02]: you know they could be doing different things with timing too

[01:01:58] [SPEAKER_02]: but anyway the

[01:02:00] [SPEAKER_02]: ship that he escaped from then went around

[01:02:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Spain to the north

[01:02:04] [SPEAKER_02]: right

[01:02:06] [SPEAKER_02]: that's how you would do it

[01:02:07] [SPEAKER_02]: you go around Spain to get to the north of France

[01:02:11] [SPEAKER_02]: so while

[01:02:12] [SPEAKER_02]: he was floating to the south of France

[01:02:14] [SPEAKER_02]: the ship was going up to the north

[01:02:15] [SPEAKER_02]: to go to that port I think

[01:02:17] [SPEAKER_05]: I think that makes sense

[01:02:19] [SPEAKER_05]: I mean there's no great

[01:02:21] [SPEAKER_05]: distances involved in this

[01:02:23] [SPEAKER_05]: like it's more just logistics of it

[01:02:25] [SPEAKER_05]: but I think curling around that edge of the coast

[01:02:28] [SPEAKER_05]: it's not impossible

[01:02:29] [SPEAKER_05]: it might be implausible

[01:02:31] [SPEAKER_05]: but it's also possible that he like got

[01:02:33] [SPEAKER_05]: off the boat

[01:02:35] [SPEAKER_05]: found the little life boat

[01:02:37] [SPEAKER_05]: and that like there might have been another step in there

[01:02:39] [SPEAKER_05]: that we're not seeing or something

[01:02:40] [SPEAKER_02]: I think the lifeboat was probably one of the boats

[01:02:43] [SPEAKER_02]: like lifeboats you know

[01:02:45] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah but then they're like we think he was dead

[01:02:47] [SPEAKER_05]: and I'm like he's clearly not though because you've tied him

[01:02:49] [SPEAKER_05]: to a boat rather than shoot him

[01:02:50] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean they said he was presumed dead

[01:02:52] [SPEAKER_02]: and they said he escaped

[01:02:54] [SPEAKER_02]: so I don't I think he may have tied himself

[01:02:56] [SPEAKER_02]: to that boat you know interesting

[01:02:58] [SPEAKER_02]: if he escaped we'll see

[01:03:00] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean I hope we'll see

[01:03:02] [SPEAKER_02]: but as far as like soldiers already looking for him

[01:03:05] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't think anybody was looking for him

[01:03:06] [SPEAKER_02]: I think unless I miss something

[01:03:09] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean the guy Kodron

[01:03:11] [SPEAKER_02]: was looking for him because

[01:03:13] [SPEAKER_02]: he killed his brother

[01:03:16] [SPEAKER_02]: but they already knew there was a guy

[01:03:18] [SPEAKER_02]: who did it

[01:03:20] [SPEAKER_02]: no oh no what happened was that

[01:03:23] [SPEAKER_02]: what's her name

[01:03:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Maribeth said an American did it

[01:03:27] [SPEAKER_02]: so I think that's why they were looking for him

[01:03:29] [SPEAKER_02]: because they found out from her

[01:03:31] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean she lied but

[01:03:32] [SPEAKER_02]: he did it and then he went to this Abbey

[01:03:34] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah that's their motivation

[01:03:37] [SPEAKER_05]: they didn't know anything about him beforehand

[01:03:38] [SPEAKER_05]: we have one last email

[01:03:42] [SPEAKER_05]: I think from Sarah Stratton Hooper

[01:03:43] [SPEAKER_05]: and I'm going to try

[01:03:45] [SPEAKER_05]: and deliver the first paragraph

[01:03:47] [SPEAKER_05]: with the oomph that it deserves

[01:03:48] [SPEAKER_05]: so woo it's D-Day

[01:03:51] [SPEAKER_05]: Double D Day

[01:03:53] [SPEAKER_05]: sexy towns with readers fuck yes

[01:03:55] [SPEAKER_05]: storm them beaches give them French

[01:03:57] [SPEAKER_05]: some dicks in

[01:04:01] [SPEAKER_05]: I am cautiously

[01:04:03] [SPEAKER_05]: weirdly super psyched

[01:04:05] [SPEAKER_05]: I think maybe for once my watching will be

[01:04:07] [SPEAKER_05]: synchronous with your casting so I'm taking advantage

[01:04:09] [SPEAKER_05]: of this rare moment and writing in

[01:04:11] [SPEAKER_05]: before I get ahead or behind or unstuck

[01:04:13] [SPEAKER_05]: in time so for now I would

[01:04:15] [SPEAKER_05]: like to say a I greatly enjoyed

[01:04:17] [SPEAKER_05]: your recent coverage of Darryl who I found at first

[01:04:19] [SPEAKER_05]: to be loathsome then too cool for school

[01:04:21] [SPEAKER_05]: and finally a man of honour

[01:04:23] [SPEAKER_05]: B. I am

[01:04:25] [SPEAKER_05]: hesitantly, guardedly, okay with Darryl

[01:04:27] [SPEAKER_05]: as guardian to small magical child as it

[01:04:29] [SPEAKER_05]: has worked well in the past and although

[01:04:31] [SPEAKER_05]: I thought Joel and Ellie had sated my yearnings

[01:04:33] [SPEAKER_05]: for an Aria and Hynes spin-off

[01:04:34] [SPEAKER_05]: I find that there is room in my heart for more than

[01:04:37] [SPEAKER_05]: one variation

[01:04:38] [SPEAKER_05]: sorry room in my heart for one more variation

[01:04:41] [SPEAKER_05]: C. Darryl's character arc

[01:04:43] [SPEAKER_05]: was the most rewarding aspect of my mega

[01:04:45] [SPEAKER_05]: binge rewatch of the series and that

[01:04:47] [SPEAKER_05]: there often seemed to be a dichotomy to

[01:04:49] [SPEAKER_05]: his plotlines that usually

[01:04:50] [SPEAKER_05]: allowed for two very different interpretations

[01:04:52] [SPEAKER_05]: of his motivations however

[01:04:54] [SPEAKER_05]: I cannot tell if this phenomenon was intentional

[01:04:56] [SPEAKER_05]: and carefully crafted by consistent clever

[01:04:58] [SPEAKER_05]: writers or if it was just a fluke

[01:05:01] [SPEAKER_05]: that worked brilliantly by accident up to the

[01:05:03] [SPEAKER_05]: very end or

[01:05:04] [SPEAKER_05]: if it was merely a product of my mind's

[01:05:06] [SPEAKER_05]: particular also dichotomous biases

[01:05:08] [SPEAKER_05]: and I just made all that shit up to entertain

[01:05:10] [SPEAKER_05]: me. All seem equally

[01:05:12] [SPEAKER_05]: statistically improbable

[01:05:14] [SPEAKER_05]: until you consider Angela Kang's presence

[01:05:17] [SPEAKER_05]: from season 2 on

[01:05:18] [SPEAKER_05]: while I recognise that a rewatch of The Walking Dead

[01:05:21] [SPEAKER_05]: might not be a top your priorities for quite some time

[01:05:23] [SPEAKER_05]: I am very much looking forward to

[01:05:25] [SPEAKER_05]: your coverage of this topic whenever you

[01:05:26] [SPEAKER_05]: get around to it so hurry up please

[01:05:28] [SPEAKER_05]: LOL kidding

[01:05:30] [SPEAKER_05]: also my lack of detail is not due to the desire

[01:05:32] [SPEAKER_05]: to be at all mysterious

[01:05:34] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm just trying to avoid priming you to look for

[01:05:36] [SPEAKER_05]: things that might not exist while hopefully

[01:05:37] [SPEAKER_05]: being specific enough that anyone with a similar

[01:05:39] [SPEAKER_05]: experience might know what I am talking about

[01:05:41] [SPEAKER_05]: and might perhaps consider sharing their thoughts

[01:05:44] [SPEAKER_05]: for that would be cool

[01:05:45] [SPEAKER_05]: which reminds me

[01:05:46] [SPEAKER_02]: whatever the two motivations

[01:05:49] [SPEAKER_02]: two interpretations

[01:05:51] [SPEAKER_02]: of motivations of terribly non-sing what those are

[01:05:52] [SPEAKER_05]: good guy and bad guy

[01:05:56] [SPEAKER_05]: which reminds me

[01:05:57] [SPEAKER_05]: C note D

[01:05:58] [SPEAKER_05]: double D

[01:06:00] [SPEAKER_05]: as I have never written in beyond a thank you to the host

[01:06:03] [SPEAKER_05]: at the end of season 11 I will also take this

[01:06:05] [SPEAKER_05]: opportunity to express my gratitude to all of the

[01:06:07] [SPEAKER_05]: fabulous, hilarious and remarkably

[01:06:09] [SPEAKER_05]: lovely and interesting people who make up

[01:06:11] [SPEAKER_05]: this community listeners, writers

[01:06:13] [SPEAKER_05]: and callers in and obviously all the podcasters

[01:06:15] [SPEAKER_05]: you are all awesome

[01:06:16] [SPEAKER_05]: you keep my mind off bad things, you make me laugh

[01:06:19] [SPEAKER_05]: you reel me back in when I wander too far

[01:06:21] [SPEAKER_05]: out into the darkling plain

[01:06:23] [SPEAKER_05]: you've made my world a better place even

[01:06:25] [SPEAKER_05]: through these last few long

[01:06:27] [SPEAKER_05]: dark, neig and years of my soul

[01:06:29] [SPEAKER_05]: while the gods have kept themselves busy

[01:06:31] [SPEAKER_05]: smashing pretty much all of my toys

[01:06:32] [SPEAKER_05]: then kicking my legs out from under me on numerous

[01:06:35] [SPEAKER_05]: occasions with a Nelson ha ha

[01:06:37] [SPEAKER_05]: you were there to help me wipe the sand

[01:06:39] [SPEAKER_05]: from my eyes and the tears from my face

[01:06:41] [SPEAKER_05]: and all that spilt milk off the floor

[01:06:42] [SPEAKER_05]: thank you all, I love you all

[01:06:44] [SPEAKER_05]: and I look forward to living together with you

[01:06:46] [SPEAKER_05]: in our all too near future post-apocalyptic

[01:06:49] [SPEAKER_05]: community with Jason and Lucien

[01:06:51] [SPEAKER_05]: Karen as our fearless leaders

[01:06:52] [SPEAKER_05]: can I please be the one at the gates who informs

[01:06:54] [SPEAKER_05]: new arrivals that it is in fact

[01:06:56] [SPEAKER_05]: by definition a communist society

[01:06:59] [SPEAKER_05]: ha ha

[01:06:59] [SPEAKER_05]: okay folks it's almost 9pm eastern

[01:07:02] [SPEAKER_05]: time to storm them beaches

[01:07:05] [SPEAKER_05]: I loved that

[01:07:07] [SPEAKER_05]: very much

[01:07:09] [SPEAKER_02]: if we do the

[01:07:10] [SPEAKER_02]: commune thing and any character

[01:07:12] [SPEAKER_02]: from the walking dead approaches

[01:07:13] [SPEAKER_02]: we batten up the hatches immediately

[01:07:16] [SPEAKER_02]: especially after Lincoln

[01:07:17] [SPEAKER_02]: just trouble

[01:07:20] [SPEAKER_02]: bolt it shut I don't care if it's

[01:07:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Judith I don't care

[01:07:23] [SPEAKER_02]: ha ha ha ha

[01:07:25] [SPEAKER_05]: not letting them in

[01:07:27] [SPEAKER_05]: what if it was dog oh no dog's a traitor

[01:07:29] [SPEAKER_02]: sorry we're full

[01:07:32] [SPEAKER_05]: no room

[01:07:34] [SPEAKER_05]: sorry

[01:07:34] [SPEAKER_05]: sorry

[01:07:35] [SPEAKER_02]: the rewatch I mean

[01:07:38] [SPEAKER_02]: we're going to start that sometime this year

[01:07:40] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah I think so

[01:07:41] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah definitely

[01:07:43] [SPEAKER_02]: we're getting into it

[01:07:44] [SPEAKER_05]: I quite want to now

[01:07:47] [SPEAKER_02]: me too

[01:07:48] [SPEAKER_02]: and also everyone's saying oh the show is so great

[01:07:52] [SPEAKER_02]: it's way better than the

[01:07:53] [SPEAKER_02]: Neegan show and I'm like well let's wait and see

[01:07:55] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah it's episode one

[01:07:57] [SPEAKER_05]: episode one you'll let's hang for

[01:08:00] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah I have a good feeling about it but we'll see

[01:08:01] [SPEAKER_02]: and also I don't want a dog on the

[01:08:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Neegan show either because I know it had a lot of fans

[01:08:05] [SPEAKER_02]: and I do think it was a quality

[01:08:07] [SPEAKER_02]: piece of walking dead entertainment whether

[01:08:09] [SPEAKER_02]: how you feel about Neegan Maggie is another story

[01:08:11] [SPEAKER_02]: but if you're a huge fan

[01:08:13] [SPEAKER_02]: of Neegan I think it was a good good show for

[01:08:15] [SPEAKER_05]: you definitely

[01:08:17] [SPEAKER_02]: all right here is our final call

[01:08:19] [SPEAKER_02]: it's Tammy from Massachusetts

[01:08:24] [SPEAKER_00]: hi guys oh great podcast

[01:08:27] [SPEAKER_00]: on the new Darryl Dixon

[01:08:28] [SPEAKER_00]: absolutely loved it

[01:08:30] [SPEAKER_00]: this is Tammy from

[01:08:32] [SPEAKER_00]: Massachusetts

[01:08:33] [SPEAKER_00]: so when you were talking

[01:08:35] [SPEAKER_00]: earlier and you were talking about oh well he

[01:08:37] [SPEAKER_00]: just went up the he didn't follow the coastline

[01:08:40] [SPEAKER_00]: why did Darryl do that I was thinking

[01:08:42] [SPEAKER_00]: the same thing and then I was like

[01:08:44] [SPEAKER_00]: trying to process it in my mind I'm thinking

[01:08:46] [SPEAKER_00]: so the people

[01:08:47] [SPEAKER_00]: that he escaped from we assume because we don't

[01:08:50] [SPEAKER_00]: know yet were

[01:08:52] [SPEAKER_00]: on boats so they would be near a coastline

[01:08:54] [SPEAKER_00]: but also Darryl's

[01:08:56] [SPEAKER_00]: like the old Georgia boy and he knows

[01:08:57] [SPEAKER_00]: like take the high ground get

[01:09:00] [SPEAKER_00]: a feel for where you are who can be

[01:09:01] [SPEAKER_00]: watching you he knows what it's like to hunt

[01:09:03] [SPEAKER_00]: or be hunted so he wanted the high ground

[01:09:05] [SPEAKER_00]: you know to observe you know

[01:09:07] [SPEAKER_00]: unknown setting

[01:09:10] [SPEAKER_00]: and then also we would

[01:09:11] [SPEAKER_00]: you were talking about the

[01:09:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Kaldron and Maribel and Guillaume

[01:09:16] [SPEAKER_00]: and I was thinking

[01:09:17] [SPEAKER_00]: about during that scene

[01:09:19] [SPEAKER_00]: I said to Dennis

[01:09:21] [SPEAKER_00]: my

[01:09:23] [SPEAKER_00]: I was like

[01:09:26] [SPEAKER_00]: so which one's Negan and which one's

[01:09:28] [SPEAKER_00]: Rick or Neganesque

[01:09:29] [SPEAKER_00]: in which one's Rick

[01:09:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Rick ask like that's how we have to

[01:09:33] [SPEAKER_00]: look at everything now who's the good one who's the bad one

[01:09:35] [SPEAKER_00]: but we've also

[01:09:37] [SPEAKER_00]: learned that everybody's

[01:09:39] [SPEAKER_00]: bad by now you had to have done

[01:09:41] [SPEAKER_00]: something bad to have survived this long

[01:09:43] [SPEAKER_00]: it's just a matter of how bad was

[01:09:45] [SPEAKER_00]: it and Jeffrey Morse and all of that

[01:09:47] [SPEAKER_00]: so I just all the time

[01:09:49] [SPEAKER_00]: whenever I find good and bad now I'm like is it

[01:09:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Rick or Negan and it's the old ponderance

[01:09:53] [SPEAKER_00]: of had we met

[01:09:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Negan first would we have been you know

[01:09:57] [SPEAKER_00]: with Rick so we don't know who's really good

[01:09:59] [SPEAKER_00]: or bad now in the long run because I too

[01:10:01] [SPEAKER_00]: fell for the Guillaume

[01:10:03] [SPEAKER_00]: and Maribel and

[01:10:05] [SPEAKER_00]: this guy

[01:10:08] [SPEAKER_00]: the soldiery kind of guy

[01:10:09] [SPEAKER_00]: obviously the younger brother who was about to take

[01:10:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Maribel and possibly rape her

[01:10:14] [SPEAKER_00]: is definitely bad

[01:10:15] [SPEAKER_00]: but the older brother

[01:10:18] [SPEAKER_00]: seems like

[01:10:19] [SPEAKER_00]: he killed

[01:10:21] [SPEAKER_00]: it was almost like a

[01:10:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Negan thing I did it because I had to

[01:10:25] [SPEAKER_00]: he killed that guy in order

[01:10:27] [SPEAKER_00]: to make her tell the truth

[01:10:29] [SPEAKER_00]: about the American

[01:10:31] [SPEAKER_00]: but anyway it's just always one of those

[01:10:33] [SPEAKER_00]: good and bad things

[01:10:36] [SPEAKER_00]: I loved

[01:10:37] [SPEAKER_00]: loved that they set us up

[01:10:39] [SPEAKER_00]: to think with these nuns

[01:10:41] [SPEAKER_00]: oh they've lasted so long

[01:10:42] [SPEAKER_00]: and they have all these medieval weapons

[01:10:44] [SPEAKER_00]: and they're just going to be badass trained

[01:10:47] [SPEAKER_00]: nuns and it's going to be crazy

[01:10:49] [SPEAKER_00]: and then it turned out they were

[01:10:51] [SPEAKER_00]: trained themselves

[01:10:53] [SPEAKER_00]: they were poorly defending themselves

[01:10:55] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean they tried like heck

[01:10:56] [SPEAKER_00]: but you know

[01:10:58] [SPEAKER_00]: turns out you know they ended up dying

[01:11:01] [SPEAKER_00]: and they did the best they could

[01:11:02] [SPEAKER_00]: but you know they were no macho

[01:11:04] [SPEAKER_00]: sword wielders that's for sure

[01:11:06] [SPEAKER_00]: which was more realistic because

[01:11:09] [SPEAKER_00]: a trend nuns

[01:11:11] [SPEAKER_00]: training themselves just doesn't make

[01:11:13] [SPEAKER_00]: sense on that

[01:11:15] [SPEAKER_00]: absolutely love the scene

[01:11:16] [SPEAKER_00]: where Laurent was mimicking Darryl

[01:11:20] [SPEAKER_00]: absolutely

[01:11:20] [SPEAKER_00]: here is this kid with this

[01:11:22] [SPEAKER_00]: male figure because

[01:11:24] [SPEAKER_00]: there are a lot of males there

[01:11:26] [SPEAKER_00]: and the one that's left is a zombie

[01:11:29] [SPEAKER_00]: and

[01:11:31] [SPEAKER_00]: that's who he had to like

[01:11:33] [SPEAKER_00]: possibly the only male

[01:11:34] [SPEAKER_00]: he's going to see besides

[01:11:36] [SPEAKER_00]: you know bad guys who might come to the gate

[01:11:40] [SPEAKER_00]: and it just reminded me it brought me back

[01:11:43] [SPEAKER_00]: of that scene in Jaws

[01:11:44] [SPEAKER_00]: you know with

[01:11:45] [SPEAKER_00]: chief and his son just that little mimicking thing

[01:11:48] [SPEAKER_00]: that little bonding thing I absolutely

[01:11:50] [SPEAKER_00]: loved it

[01:11:53] [SPEAKER_00]: love the

[01:11:54] [SPEAKER_00]: when we were talking about the boat

[01:11:56] [SPEAKER_00]: and that Darryl came off

[01:11:58] [SPEAKER_00]: I think the boat test subjects

[01:12:00] [SPEAKER_00]: that you know the ones that were in the boat

[01:12:03] [SPEAKER_00]: needed

[01:12:03] [SPEAKER_00]: when they talk about how he ruined it

[01:12:05] [SPEAKER_00]: I think they like needed to not be contaminated

[01:12:08] [SPEAKER_00]: maybe they got them from America

[01:12:11] [SPEAKER_00]: because

[01:12:12] [SPEAKER_00]: or they get them

[01:12:14] [SPEAKER_00]: clean from somewhere that they're on

[01:12:16] [SPEAKER_00]: burners or you know because obviously

[01:12:18] [SPEAKER_00]: France has done a lot of testing

[01:12:19] [SPEAKER_00]: and caused a lot of

[01:12:21] [SPEAKER_00]: variants

[01:12:23] [SPEAKER_00]: not that it started there but some of their testing

[01:12:26] [SPEAKER_00]: has caused variants

[01:12:27] [SPEAKER_00]: that they're trying to get uncontaminated

[01:12:29] [SPEAKER_00]: test subjects

[01:12:31] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know maybe that was

[01:12:34] [SPEAKER_00]: part of it maybe that's the A

[01:12:36] [SPEAKER_00]: and the B thing

[01:12:38] [SPEAKER_00]: I have no idea but I definitely think

[01:12:40] [SPEAKER_00]: it's about getting clean test subjects

[01:12:42] [SPEAKER_00]: not from

[01:12:43] [SPEAKER_00]: the heart of France

[01:12:44] [SPEAKER_00]: and finally

[01:12:46] [SPEAKER_00]: I think when

[01:12:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Darryl decided

[01:12:51] [SPEAKER_00]: out of guilt for the nuns remember

[01:12:53] [SPEAKER_00]: to finally take

[01:12:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Laurent and do the right thing

[01:12:58] [SPEAKER_00]: he was that little backwards Georgia boy

[01:13:00] [SPEAKER_00]: who

[01:13:02] [SPEAKER_00]: had a mom that could never

[01:13:04] [SPEAKER_00]: really do enough

[01:13:06] [SPEAKER_00]: to nurture him care for him

[01:13:08] [SPEAKER_00]: keep him safe even from

[01:13:10] [SPEAKER_00]: his own father

[01:13:11] [SPEAKER_00]: so for him to have this

[01:13:14] [SPEAKER_00]: women care for

[01:13:16] [SPEAKER_00]: him keep him safe

[01:13:18] [SPEAKER_00]: and eventually

[01:13:19] [SPEAKER_00]: and to

[01:13:20] [SPEAKER_02]: she got cut off I like where you were going with that though

[01:13:24] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah I was into

[01:13:25] [SPEAKER_05]: that pull back with more

[01:13:29] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah what were you

[01:13:30] [SPEAKER_05]: gonna say I also love your accent Tommy

[01:13:32] [SPEAKER_05]: it's great yeah

[01:13:33] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah I don't know if we've heard from Tanya before

[01:13:35] [SPEAKER_02]: the thing about Kodron

[01:13:38] [SPEAKER_02]: whether he was

[01:13:39] [SPEAKER_02]: just doing what he had to do

[01:13:41] [SPEAKER_02]: I like that too I mean

[01:13:44] [SPEAKER_02]: it's an interesting thing to explore

[01:13:47] [SPEAKER_02]: and

[01:13:47] [SPEAKER_02]: she's right in the

[01:13:50] [SPEAKER_02]: ZA they've all done bad things

[01:13:52] [SPEAKER_05]: you know well and they were very

[01:13:53] [SPEAKER_05]: careful to parallel it with

[01:13:55] [SPEAKER_05]: Merle which I thought it's immediately

[01:13:57] [SPEAKER_05]: like an indication of like

[01:14:00] [SPEAKER_05]: okay remember

[01:14:01] [SPEAKER_05]: you know things have gone down

[01:14:03] [SPEAKER_05]: with our group as well and yeah

[01:14:05] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah but I mean

[01:14:09] [SPEAKER_02]: he is

[01:14:09] [SPEAKER_02]: hanging out with rapist soldiers

[01:14:12] [SPEAKER_05]: yes he is

[01:14:13] [SPEAKER_02]: and Randall

[01:14:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Randall back in season 2 was hanging out

[01:14:17] [SPEAKER_02]: with some bad guys and they made him guilty

[01:14:19] [SPEAKER_02]: by association

[01:14:21] [SPEAKER_02]: so they I think about that

[01:14:23] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know why I'm bringing that up

[01:14:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Shane killed the poor guy

[01:14:26] [SPEAKER_05]: we just love talking about Randall he's our favorite character

[01:14:29] [SPEAKER_05]: we love it because I can do it with Negan

[01:14:31] [SPEAKER_02]: that guy was

[01:14:32] [SPEAKER_02]: a big character in

[01:14:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Miss Maisel

[01:14:36] [SPEAKER_02]: oh shit

[01:14:37] [SPEAKER_02]: he was a husband or something

[01:14:40] [SPEAKER_02]: look that's Randall

[01:14:43] [SPEAKER_05]: I never watched that much

[01:14:45] [SPEAKER_05]: Mrs. Maisel but I can see him

[01:14:47] [SPEAKER_05]: very clearly

[01:14:48] [SPEAKER_05]: oh my god that's so funny Randall grew up

[01:14:51] [SPEAKER_02]: I like what she said about the high ground

[01:14:55] [SPEAKER_02]: it makes me feel a little better about those scenes at the beginning

[01:14:57] [SPEAKER_02]: with Darryl up high

[01:14:59] [SPEAKER_02]: and

[01:15:01] [SPEAKER_02]: Laurent

[01:15:02] [SPEAKER_02]: mimicking Darryl because he's the only man there

[01:15:04] [SPEAKER_02]: except for the zombie priest made me think that Laurent

[01:15:07] [SPEAKER_02]: should absolutely have been mimicking the zombie priest

[01:15:14] [SPEAKER_05]: oh Laurent

[01:15:15] [SPEAKER_05]: he's so starved of a father figure

[01:15:17] [SPEAKER_05]: he's taking to mimicking the zombie

[01:15:26] [SPEAKER_02]: alright

[01:15:26] [SPEAKER_02]: that is our show next episode

[01:15:28] [SPEAKER_02]: we'll be walking dead Darryl Dixon

[01:15:31] [SPEAKER_02]: season one episode two

[01:15:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Alawette which I believe means

[01:15:35] [SPEAKER_02]: tiny hat

[01:15:37] [SPEAKER_02]: it means

[01:15:38] [SPEAKER_02]: it means lark

[01:15:40] [SPEAKER_02]: which can be either

[01:15:43] [SPEAKER_10]: what

[01:15:44] [SPEAKER_05]: he said like in Anchorman where he's like

[01:15:47] [SPEAKER_05]: witch in San Diego

[01:15:48] [SPEAKER_05]: which means a whales

[01:15:51] [SPEAKER_05]: vagina

[01:15:53] [SPEAKER_05]: sorry

[01:15:54] [SPEAKER_02]: it's lark and that can be a tiny

[01:15:56] [SPEAKER_02]: songbird or an amusing adventure done for fun

[01:15:59] [SPEAKER_02]: or you know we did it on a lark

[01:16:01] [SPEAKER_05]: I remember learning a little song

[01:16:03] [SPEAKER_05]: that was like

[01:16:05] [SPEAKER_05]: alawette

[01:16:08] [SPEAKER_05]: which I now realise must be about

[01:16:10] [SPEAKER_05]: the bird

[01:16:13] [SPEAKER_05]: every day is a good day

[01:16:15] [SPEAKER_05]: if you want to write in

[01:17:00] [SPEAKER_05]: don't get bit Chris LeBow

[01:17:06] [SPEAKER_02]: I bet he's French

[01:17:07] [SPEAKER_05]: he's from LeBow

[01:17:08] [SPEAKER_05]: he's pronounced the wrong

[01:17:09] [SPEAKER_05]: it is LeBow and I'm like ah

[01:17:12] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm just bad at pronouncing things

[01:17:18] [SPEAKER_02]: so people may

[01:17:19] [SPEAKER_02]: so people may disagree but I think we got it right so far

[01:17:25] [SPEAKER_02]: and the audience seems to feel we got it right

[01:17:28] [SPEAKER_02]: sorry I should probably get some water

[01:17:30] [SPEAKER_02]: I'll be right back

[01:17:30] [SPEAKER_05]: Jason's infected

[01:17:32] [SPEAKER_05]: he's dying

[01:17:33] [SPEAKER_05]: he's got mushrooms coming out of his face

[01:17:35] [SPEAKER_05]: it's so gross I'm so glad I'm like miles and miles away

[01:17:40] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah he did

[01:17:42] [SPEAKER_05]: oh well I guess I run the podcast now
