[00:00:01] [SPEAKER_02]: Psyche

[00:00:01] [SPEAKER_04]: Psyche

[00:00:08] Psyche

[00:00:08] [SPEAKER_04]: Father Daryl, would you lead us in a prayer of thanks?

[00:00:16] [SPEAKER_00]: You mean like, uh, same grace?

[00:00:18] [SPEAKER_04]: Yes.

[00:00:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. I'm sorry.

[00:00:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Um, Lord?

[00:00:28] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure you have your reasons.

[00:00:31] [SPEAKER_00]: I'll return the whole world upside down.

[00:00:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe we deserve it for being so mean to each other.

[00:00:42] [SPEAKER_00]: We probably do deserve it.

[00:00:48] [SPEAKER_00]: But not tonight.

[00:00:50] [SPEAKER_00]: No.

[00:00:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Tonight is good.

[00:00:55] [SPEAKER_00]: And if this isn't good enough for you,

[00:00:58] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what is.

[00:01:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Amen.

[00:01:32] [SPEAKER_03]: Podcast dedicated to the show.

[00:01:40] [SPEAKER_03]: Bonjour Zed Heads, welcome to the podcast. I'm Jason.

[00:01:43] [SPEAKER_05]: And I'm Lucy.

[00:01:45] [SPEAKER_03]: And this is the Cast of Us episode 538.

[00:01:49] [SPEAKER_05]: And this episode, as you'll read,

[00:01:51] [SPEAKER_05]: we are covering The Walking Dead, Daryl Dixon,

[00:01:54] [SPEAKER_05]: S1E2, Alouette.

[00:01:56] [SPEAKER_05]: Or Alouette.

[00:01:58] [SPEAKER_03]: Alouette.

[00:02:00] [SPEAKER_05]: What are you saying that in school?

[00:02:02] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, apparently it's actually really bleak though.

[00:02:05] [SPEAKER_05]: It's like about taking the word.

[00:02:07] [SPEAKER_05]: I didn't know that.

[00:02:09] [SPEAKER_03]: It's like going body part by body part and saying,

[00:02:11] [SPEAKER_03]: oh, pretty bird, I'm going to pluck all your feathers out.

[00:02:14] [SPEAKER_05]: It's dark, man.

[00:02:16] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, the fuck, man.

[00:02:17] [SPEAKER_03]: But for The Walking Dead, it's kind of interesting because

[00:02:20] [SPEAKER_03]: uh, Isabel and her sister, Lily, you know,

[00:02:24] [SPEAKER_03]: Isabel seeing that to her to help her calm down

[00:02:27] [SPEAKER_03]: because she's freaking out and childbirth and everything.

[00:02:30] [SPEAKER_03]: And it turns out she's singing this really dark,

[00:02:33] [SPEAKER_03]: grim song.

[00:02:34] [SPEAKER_03]: And then Lily's about to become a zombie and want to

[00:02:38] [SPEAKER_03]: pluck the feathers off all the birds.

[00:02:40] [SPEAKER_02]: So bleak.

[00:02:42] [SPEAKER_03]: But all those nursery rhymes and grim fairy tales and stuff

[00:02:45] [SPEAKER_03]: and like Ring Around the Rosie's is about,

[00:02:49] [SPEAKER_03]: isn't that about like radiation and war or something ashes?

[00:02:53] [SPEAKER_03]: The plague in the UK.

[00:02:54] [SPEAKER_03]: The plague, yeah, that's what it was.

[00:02:56] [SPEAKER_03]: Radiation, no, pre-radiation.

[00:02:58] [SPEAKER_05]: You used to hold um,

[00:03:01] [SPEAKER_05]: Poses, flowers up to your nose so you couldn't smell the decay.

[00:03:04] [SPEAKER_05]: Um, so when they say a pocket full of posies, a tissue,

[00:03:07] [SPEAKER_05]: a tissue, it's like sneezing because you've got the plague

[00:03:09] [SPEAKER_05]: even though you were holding up the flowers to your nose,

[00:03:12] [SPEAKER_05]: which is lovely.

[00:03:14] [SPEAKER_03]: It's really interesting to me how,

[00:03:17] [SPEAKER_03]: because I remember my grandma gave me a book of Grimm's fairy tales

[00:03:21] [SPEAKER_03]: and I don't think she read them because they were all

[00:03:24] [SPEAKER_03]: really disturbing.

[00:03:25] [SPEAKER_05]: I did like a module on fairy tales and

[00:03:30] [SPEAKER_05]: they're all dark as hell.

[00:03:32] [SPEAKER_05]: They're all really, really dark.

[00:03:35] [SPEAKER_05]: It's kind of cool.

[00:03:36] [SPEAKER_05]: Like I always dug when I was a kid like

[00:03:38] [SPEAKER_05]: rolled dolls books because they were always quite dark.

[00:03:42] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I was just thinking a rolled doll.

[00:03:44] [SPEAKER_05]: Like Charlie the chocolate factory is actually really fricking sinister.

[00:03:47] [SPEAKER_05]: Like when you think about it,

[00:03:48] [SPEAKER_05]: like all these kids get essentially killed off and punished for like being kids.

[00:03:52] [SPEAKER_03]: People always say, oh, they didn't die.

[00:03:54] [SPEAKER_03]: I think so.

[00:03:55] [SPEAKER_05]: No, absolutely.

[00:03:56] [SPEAKER_05]: And he wrote some amazing adult fiction as well like short fiction

[00:04:00] [SPEAKER_05]: that's very like dark and pointed.

[00:04:03] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I want to read more of his stuff.

[00:04:05] [SPEAKER_03]: I've heard synopses of some of his stories and they sound really interesting.

[00:04:09] [SPEAKER_05]: For by all accounts, horrible person, but right.

[00:04:11] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh really? Oh yeah.

[00:04:12] [SPEAKER_05]: Apparently so, yeah.

[00:04:14] [SPEAKER_03]: Pretty much everyone has.

[00:04:15] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, actually I wanted to open up this podcast just to say

[00:04:20] [SPEAKER_03]: thank you to all you guys for listening.

[00:04:22] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't really say it and now I mean, we always say it at the end.

[00:04:25] [SPEAKER_03]: Thanks for listening and I do mean it, but I just wanted to say it at the beginning

[00:04:28] [SPEAKER_03]: because man, it's been a long time and I appreciate you guys

[00:04:31] [SPEAKER_03]: and those of you that are still with us and listening

[00:04:36] [SPEAKER_03]: and who have been here for such a long time.

[00:04:38] [SPEAKER_03]: We really appreciate that.

[00:04:39] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, we wouldn't be doing it if you didn't listen.

[00:04:42] [SPEAKER_03]: So thanks.

[00:04:43] [SPEAKER_03]: And then so many people got involved over the years.

[00:04:45] [SPEAKER_03]: It's been awesome.

[00:04:46] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:04:46] [SPEAKER_05]: And it felt last week with the feedback like people coming back

[00:04:49] [SPEAKER_05]: from a holiday, which was nice.

[00:04:51] [SPEAKER_05]: Like people popping up who we'd not heard from in a while.

[00:04:54] [SPEAKER_05]: And yeah, I like that.

[00:04:55] [SPEAKER_05]: It felt really nice.

[00:04:56] [SPEAKER_03]: Like Jennifer McGinley.

[00:04:57] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, Jennifer McGinley.

[00:04:58] [SPEAKER_03]: I was hanging out with Karen last night at this get together

[00:05:02] [SPEAKER_03]: this party.

[00:05:02] [SPEAKER_03]: It was really fun and I was trying to get her interested

[00:05:05] [SPEAKER_03]: in The Daryl Show because she loves Europe and France

[00:05:08] [SPEAKER_03]: in particular and the south of France.

[00:05:11] [SPEAKER_03]: And she seemed interested so I sent her the first two episodes.

[00:05:15] [SPEAKER_03]: She might come and join us for one sometime if she does.

[00:05:17] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, that would be fun.

[00:05:19] [SPEAKER_03]: Hopefully.

[00:05:20] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, that would be sweet.

[00:05:23] [SPEAKER_03]: OK, let's get into this week's episode.

[00:05:25] [SPEAKER_03]: It's season one episode two.

[00:05:28] [SPEAKER_03]: Alouette, what did you think?

[00:05:29] [SPEAKER_03]: Did you dig it or not?

[00:05:31] [SPEAKER_05]: I really liked it.

[00:05:32] [SPEAKER_05]: But then when I was watching at the second time,

[00:05:35] [SPEAKER_05]: I was like, this is an episode of Fear of the Walking Dead.

[00:05:38] [SPEAKER_05]: I would be ripping it.

[00:05:39] [SPEAKER_05]: I'd be like, this is so stupid.

[00:05:41] [SPEAKER_05]: Who are these fucking children?

[00:05:43] [SPEAKER_05]: Blah, blah, blah.

[00:05:43] [SPEAKER_05]: But I actually, I don't know.

[00:05:45] [SPEAKER_05]: I don't know if it's just because the show is

[00:05:47] [SPEAKER_05]: of higher quality or I think I wrote somewhere in my notes.

[00:05:51] [SPEAKER_05]: This is the first group of feral children we've met

[00:05:53] [SPEAKER_05]: that I don't hate, like they seem pretty cool.

[00:05:55] [SPEAKER_05]: But the stand out for me was all the flashbacks.

[00:06:01] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh yeah, so good.

[00:06:03] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I know.

[00:06:04] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I feel kind of the same like the ugly American guy,

[00:06:09] [SPEAKER_03]: the bad guy that Daryl had to fight.

[00:06:11] [SPEAKER_03]: That was a pretty pedestrian plot.

[00:06:13] [SPEAKER_03]: And when those kids came up, I thought of Fear of the Walking Dead.

[00:06:16] [SPEAKER_03]: And I'm like, oh, they seem like right out of fear with their masks on and everything.

[00:06:19] [SPEAKER_03]: But it is a better written show as far as just the dialogue.

[00:06:24] [SPEAKER_03]: And I don't know, it's just listeners are like whatever guys, you're hypocrites.

[00:06:31] [SPEAKER_03]: But I just think the show, it kind of has a better understanding of people

[00:06:36] [SPEAKER_03]: and it's funnier and it's just more of a pleasure to watch.

[00:06:40] [SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, I think there's some cliched plot elements happening

[00:06:45] [SPEAKER_03]: but there are so many other things that are working really well that I was fine with it.

[00:06:49] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I think that's where I ended up as well.

[00:06:52] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I think that I have thoughts about the American guy.

[00:06:55] [SPEAKER_05]: But yeah, I know I thought it was a solid episode.

[00:06:57] [SPEAKER_05]: I really liked it.

[00:06:58] [SPEAKER_03]: All right.

[00:06:59] [SPEAKER_03]: What's your first point?

[00:07:01] [SPEAKER_05]: I mean, I just want to talk about the opening, the cold open with the flashback.

[00:07:04] [SPEAKER_05]: It was just great.

[00:07:06] [SPEAKER_05]: So good.

[00:07:07] [SPEAKER_05]: It was like a different world, a different film, a different universe.

[00:07:12] [SPEAKER_05]: I just thought it was great.

[00:07:14] [SPEAKER_05]: There was very little to no dialogue.

[00:07:16] [SPEAKER_05]: I think all you hear is Adam Nagaitis' character saying get in or something like that

[00:07:21] [SPEAKER_05]: but you don't, Isabel doesn't talk.

[00:07:23] [SPEAKER_05]: No dialogue through the whole thing.

[00:07:24] [SPEAKER_03]: And you're like, ah!

[00:07:26] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, and like the soundscape's under that visual of her standing looking over Paris

[00:07:32] [SPEAKER_05]: just as it is was in 2011, 2010.

[00:07:36] [SPEAKER_05]: City of Lights.

[00:07:37] [SPEAKER_05]: So beautiful.

[00:07:38] [SPEAKER_05]: It made me want to go back to Paris as well.

[00:07:40] [SPEAKER_05]: Absolutely.

[00:07:40] [SPEAKER_05]: Go back to Paris.

[00:07:41] [SPEAKER_03]: It made me want to go to a club, a fancy swanky club.

[00:07:44] Yeah.

[00:07:45] [SPEAKER_05]: I think it hit harder after COVID as well because we're all like, oh, yeah,

[00:07:50] [SPEAKER_05]: remember when we couldn't do that shit for two years?

[00:07:52] [SPEAKER_05]: And I say that, I don't mean to say after COVID

[00:07:55] [SPEAKER_05]: because it's obviously still happening and still around

[00:07:57] [SPEAKER_05]: but post lockdown for sure, it felt so liberated.

[00:08:03] [SPEAKER_05]: And just seeing Isabel a completely different version of her

[00:08:06] [SPEAKER_05]: I thought was so interesting and I loved, I've got my notes here.

[00:08:13] [SPEAKER_05]: I love the use of Blue Monday by New Order as well

[00:08:16] [SPEAKER_05]: which is just a great, great tune.

[00:08:18] [SPEAKER_05]: Watching it the second time round, you get more of a sense of Isabel

[00:08:24] [SPEAKER_05]: thieving and pickpocketing like there's some very prominent watches

[00:08:27] [SPEAKER_05]: with the men she's talking to

[00:08:28] [SPEAKER_05]: and she seems to have this move where she'll like put her hand

[00:08:31] [SPEAKER_05]: around their back of their neck and then be in their pocket

[00:08:34] [SPEAKER_05]: or taking their watch or whatever.

[00:08:37] [SPEAKER_05]: The scars on her wrist are quite pronounced.

[00:08:39] [SPEAKER_05]: So you get feeling that things are maybe not good recently.

[00:08:43] [SPEAKER_05]: She's doing a lot of cocaine.

[00:08:45] [SPEAKER_05]: The coolest bit I think was the metro station

[00:08:49] [SPEAKER_05]: and the train going past.

[00:08:51] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, that was my favorite.

[00:08:52] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, that was fucking cool.

[00:08:54] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, because well, yeah, like I love the way it built.

[00:08:59] [SPEAKER_03]: You know, she's outside smoking a cigarette

[00:09:01] [SPEAKER_03]: because it's France and then she hears a woman screaming.

[00:09:08] [SPEAKER_05]: Which sometimes on a night out you hear a group being loud

[00:09:11] [SPEAKER_05]: or fighting but it takes a turn.

[00:09:15] [SPEAKER_03]: And she doesn't know what she's looking at yet.

[00:09:18] [SPEAKER_03]: We know right away look for the zombie in that group

[00:09:21] [SPEAKER_03]: and you can see him trying to bite this guy that she's with

[00:09:25] [SPEAKER_03]: but for her it's just like, oh, rowdy people, you know.

[00:09:28] [SPEAKER_03]: I think sometimes when you hear that you just like,

[00:09:30] [SPEAKER_03]: I need to get away.

[00:09:31] [SPEAKER_03]: Which is what she did.

[00:09:32] [SPEAKER_03]: She kind of backed away and then a car rams into another guy

[00:09:38] [SPEAKER_03]: who's maybe a zombie.

[00:09:39] [SPEAKER_03]: I didn't go back and look and she's like,

[00:09:42] [SPEAKER_03]: what the fuck is going on?

[00:09:42] [SPEAKER_03]: Then she goes down in the subway and then it passes

[00:09:45] [SPEAKER_03]: and everyone's attacking and eating each other

[00:09:47] [SPEAKER_03]: and growling and screaming.

[00:09:49] [SPEAKER_05]: And I was like, oh my God.

[00:09:51] [SPEAKER_05]: The one's driving the train.

[00:09:53] [SPEAKER_05]: I tried to get a good loop but I don't think anyone's

[00:09:54] [SPEAKER_05]: driving the train so it doesn't stop.

[00:09:56] [SPEAKER_03]: And I was like, maybe I'll take the next one.

[00:09:59] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:10:02] [SPEAKER_05]: Absolute scenes and you're like, wait.

[00:10:03] [SPEAKER_03]: I've been in situations like that where a train comes along

[00:10:06] [SPEAKER_03]: and it's too packed, you know?

[00:10:08] [SPEAKER_03]: And I'm just like, eh, just wait.

[00:10:10] [SPEAKER_03]: But I'd probably have the same feeling here.

[00:10:13] [SPEAKER_05]: It was great.

[00:10:14] [SPEAKER_05]: I just loved that.

[00:10:15] [SPEAKER_05]: It was so cool.

[00:10:16] [SPEAKER_05]: And it reminded me of in The Walking Dead,

[00:10:21] [SPEAKER_05]: Akron when they're under, is it Philly?

[00:10:23] [SPEAKER_05]: No, they're not in Philly.

[00:10:24] [SPEAKER_05]: They're in DC and they're under.

[00:10:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:10:27] [SPEAKER_05]: And so we've seen that 12 years on

[00:10:30] [SPEAKER_05]: but we're seeing it kind of happening there.

[00:10:33] [SPEAKER_05]: Although it's in a different place,

[00:10:34] [SPEAKER_05]: you can imagine those kind of scenes happening somewhere

[00:10:37] [SPEAKER_05]: like DC and I just love that visual of it just.

[00:10:40] [SPEAKER_03]: And all the people were still there in DC.

[00:10:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Like there were zombies in the train still.

[00:10:46] [SPEAKER_03]: So some of these people that she just saw

[00:10:49] [SPEAKER_03]: might still be there too 12 years later on that train.

[00:10:52] [SPEAKER_05]: Because no one on that train can have survived.

[00:10:54] [SPEAKER_05]: Like because they can't have gone off, you know?

[00:10:57] [SPEAKER_05]: So I just thought that was wonderful.

[00:11:00] [SPEAKER_05]: And then she runs up into the plaza outside San George

[00:11:03] [SPEAKER_05]: and she's so disorientated.

[00:11:06] [SPEAKER_05]: Because she's also like on a downer.

[00:11:08] [SPEAKER_05]: She's like coming down from midnight out

[00:11:10] [SPEAKER_05]: and her confusion and numbness is really real.

[00:11:14] [SPEAKER_05]: And then we see a really, I love this actor, Adam the Gaitis.

[00:11:18] [SPEAKER_05]: Did you recognize him, Jason?

[00:11:20] [SPEAKER_03]: The guy that picked her up?

[00:11:22] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:11:22] [SPEAKER_03]: No.

[00:11:23] [SPEAKER_05]: He was inter-noble.

[00:11:25] [SPEAKER_05]: He played Vasili inter-noble.

[00:11:27] [SPEAKER_05]: He was also Hickey in The Terror.

[00:11:30] [SPEAKER_05]: He had a lot of HBO roles for a while.

[00:11:32] [SPEAKER_05]: He's a British actor.

[00:11:34] [SPEAKER_05]: I hope it's not the last we've seen of him

[00:11:36] [SPEAKER_05]: because I quite liked him in this.

[00:11:37] [SPEAKER_05]: And there's a lot of ambiguity there of like,

[00:11:40] [SPEAKER_05]: is he your dealer?

[00:11:41] [SPEAKER_05]: Is he a pimp?

[00:11:42] [SPEAKER_05]: Like it's, there's something there that's not straightforward.

[00:11:46] [SPEAKER_05]: It just seems straightforward to me.

[00:11:50] [SPEAKER_05]: I don't know.

[00:11:50] [SPEAKER_05]: I thought there was like him.

[00:11:51] [SPEAKER_03]: And he's getting pretty intimate with her when he's trying

[00:11:53] [SPEAKER_03]: to convince her to leave her sister because she's pregnant.

[00:11:58] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:11:58] [SPEAKER_03]: And it looked like a boyfriend trying to convince

[00:12:00] [SPEAKER_03]: a girlfriend to me, but I don't know.

[00:12:02] [SPEAKER_05]: Also, I'm going to just put it out there

[00:12:04] [SPEAKER_05]: that baby is totally his.

[00:12:07] [SPEAKER_03]: You think so?

[00:12:07] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:12:08] [SPEAKER_03]: I really think so.

[00:12:09] [SPEAKER_03]: When she's like, he's the father.

[00:12:10] [SPEAKER_03]: I saw them in the chat two people were saying that.

[00:12:11] [SPEAKER_05]: And they're like, no, what?

[00:12:13] [SPEAKER_05]: No.

[00:12:13] [SPEAKER_05]: And I'm like, that baby is his for sure.

[00:12:15] [SPEAKER_03]: Because she wouldn't, yeah.

[00:12:16] [SPEAKER_03]: I think it's, I think he's her boyfriend.

[00:12:18] [SPEAKER_03]: But I also think you could be right

[00:12:20] [SPEAKER_03]: that the baby could be his.

[00:12:21] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:12:22] [SPEAKER_05]: It's, but anyway, I loved the, just the whole thing.

[00:12:25] [SPEAKER_05]: I thought it was one of the strongest cold opens

[00:12:27] [SPEAKER_05]: the show has ever done.

[00:12:28] [SPEAKER_05]: And it was just like everything.

[00:12:30] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:12:32] [SPEAKER_05]: I mean, I mean, the walking, I mean,

[00:12:35] [SPEAKER_05]: of the whole Walking Dead series called open also.

[00:12:39] [SPEAKER_05]: Paris is just fucking cool, man.

[00:12:41] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it is.

[00:12:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh my God.

[00:12:45] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:12:45] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, we haven't seen a lot of flashbacks in the Walking Dead

[00:12:51] [SPEAKER_03]: pre apocalyptic flashbacks.

[00:12:53] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, it sort of counts as pre.

[00:12:55] [SPEAKER_03]: It's kind of at the beginning, but there was one of Lori

[00:12:58] [SPEAKER_03]: picking up Carl from school and she was telling her friend

[00:13:03] [SPEAKER_03]: she'd been fighting with Rick and then Shane shows up

[00:13:05] [SPEAKER_03]: to tell them that Rick's been shot or something.

[00:13:07] [SPEAKER_03]: I think it was like that.

[00:13:08] [SPEAKER_03]: And there was one of Michonne.

[00:13:10] [SPEAKER_03]: It was kind of a dream slash flashback of her boyfriend

[00:13:13] [SPEAKER_03]: and his friend in their apartment or something.

[00:13:15] [SPEAKER_03]: And then there was Negan cheating on his wife who had cancer.

[00:13:19] [SPEAKER_03]: That was fun.

[00:13:19] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, yeah, that one.

[00:13:20] [SPEAKER_05]: Do you know he loves kids though?

[00:13:22] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's true.

[00:13:24] [SPEAKER_03]: I can never resist.

[00:13:26] [SPEAKER_03]: I know.

[00:13:27] [SPEAKER_03]: But I always thought that the Walking Dead would be great

[00:13:31] [SPEAKER_03]: with, did you watch Lost?

[00:13:33] [SPEAKER_05]: I did.

[00:13:34] [SPEAKER_05]: And one of the things I liked most about the first season

[00:13:36] [SPEAKER_05]: was the flashbacks.

[00:13:38] [SPEAKER_05]: I thought that was really cool.

[00:13:39] [SPEAKER_05]: I feel like Darabont touched on it a little bit,

[00:13:42] [SPEAKER_05]: but not enough.

[00:13:43] [SPEAKER_05]: And there was, was there not?

[00:13:44] [SPEAKER_05]: We saw the bombing of...

[00:13:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Of Atlanta, but that's kind of during.

[00:13:50] [SPEAKER_03]: But it is.

[00:13:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I guess that counts.

[00:13:51] [SPEAKER_03]: But I mean, I thought Walking Dead would be a great show

[00:13:56] [SPEAKER_03]: to do that with where you see a lot of flashbacks

[00:13:59] [SPEAKER_03]: because A, the contrast of civilization with post-apocalyptic

[00:14:04] [SPEAKER_03]: would be cool to keep seeing.

[00:14:06] [SPEAKER_03]: But B, it would be interesting to see how different people

[00:14:10] [SPEAKER_03]: were before and after the stresses of the zombie,

[00:14:13] [SPEAKER_03]: how it changed them or didn't change some people.

[00:14:15] [SPEAKER_03]: You know?

[00:14:15] [SPEAKER_03]: But I think maybe one reason why they didn't do that

[00:14:18] [SPEAKER_03]: is because Walking Dead started the year,

[00:14:21] [SPEAKER_03]: Lost ended 2010 and Lost was so big

[00:14:24] [SPEAKER_03]: and they were just, were doing that in some fashion

[00:14:27] [SPEAKER_03]: or another.

[00:14:28] [SPEAKER_03]: They were doing flashbacks and other things like that,

[00:14:30] [SPEAKER_03]: the whole series.

[00:14:32] [SPEAKER_03]: So maybe Walking Dead didn't want to just feel

[00:14:34] [SPEAKER_03]: like they were copying them.

[00:14:35] [SPEAKER_03]: Anyway.

[00:14:36] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, that can make sense, I guess.

[00:14:38] [SPEAKER_05]: Well, I'm glad they moved away from that for this

[00:14:42] [SPEAKER_05]: because I thought it was just really, really well done.

[00:14:46] [SPEAKER_05]: I think, I just think Clamence Pozzi is a fantastic actor,

[00:14:50] [SPEAKER_05]: but I just think that whole, it was a brave decision

[00:14:52] [SPEAKER_05]: to have it be all show, no tell.

[00:14:56] [SPEAKER_05]: And yeah, it really paid off and it lights the way it.

[00:15:00] [SPEAKER_05]: So at the start, I noticed this more in the second watch.

[00:15:02] [SPEAKER_05]: The flashbacks were quite evenly spaced.

[00:15:05] [SPEAKER_05]: So it was like, you saw that then there was a little bit of on the road.

[00:15:11] [SPEAKER_05]: Then there was a bigger flashback and then we kind of had a bit

[00:15:13] [SPEAKER_05]: in the middle where it's more in the present timeline.

[00:15:16] [SPEAKER_05]: It's almost like, I don't know, the way they cut it

[00:15:18] [SPEAKER_05]: and the way they balanced it was really cool.

[00:15:20] [SPEAKER_05]: It's like you start in the past.

[00:15:21] [SPEAKER_03]: You came back to it at the end.

[00:15:23] [SPEAKER_05]: It swelled and then quick at the end.

[00:15:26] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, at the end because she's talking to Lauren

[00:15:29] [SPEAKER_03]: about he doesn't want to be special

[00:15:30] [SPEAKER_03]: and we're seeing Lauren's origin story.

[00:15:33] [SPEAKER_03]: So that was very elegantly told.

[00:15:35] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's kind of what we mean about a quality show

[00:15:37] [SPEAKER_03]: even though it has some sort of stereotypical plot lines.

[00:15:42] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, Peter leaned over and went, oh my God,

[00:15:44] [SPEAKER_05]: is this going to be how Laurent is born?

[00:15:46] [SPEAKER_05]: And I was like, I'd already watched it once

[00:15:47] [SPEAKER_05]: and I was like, maybe.

[00:15:50] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I didn't get that until,

[00:15:52] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I think it might have kind of occurred to me.

[00:15:55] [SPEAKER_03]: Maybe this is Laurent, but I'm like, I don't know.

[00:15:57] [SPEAKER_03]: And then at the end I'm like, yeah, yeah, yeah.

[00:15:58] [SPEAKER_03]: But a couple more things about before shit starts hitting the fan

[00:16:04] [SPEAKER_03]: is seeing her in this club.

[00:16:08] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm thinking it's a great contrast to the Abbey

[00:16:12] [SPEAKER_03]: that we see her in later and her nuns habit

[00:16:14] [SPEAKER_03]: versus this swanky like cocktail dress or whatever club dress.

[00:16:19] [SPEAKER_03]: And you think, or at least I thought

[00:16:22] [SPEAKER_03]: she's going to be this big heathness

[00:16:24] [SPEAKER_03]: maybe into sex and drugs

[00:16:26] [SPEAKER_03]: and this is in contrast to the life she gave up to become a nun.

[00:16:30] [SPEAKER_03]: It is kind of like that.

[00:16:31] [SPEAKER_03]: She did snort coke, but the thief part is kind of the twist

[00:16:34] [SPEAKER_03]: rather than actually being interested in these guys

[00:16:36] [SPEAKER_03]: that she's kind of get sidling up next to.

[00:16:40] [SPEAKER_03]: And then, yeah, we saw her wrist already had the scars

[00:16:44] [SPEAKER_03]: and when she snorted the coke,

[00:16:45] [SPEAKER_03]: that's the song sort of kicked in

[00:16:48] [SPEAKER_03]: and it goes, makes your heart pump.

[00:16:51] [SPEAKER_03]: Right at that moment.

[00:16:53] [SPEAKER_03]: And then we see that she's pickpocketed the guys

[00:16:56] [SPEAKER_03]: which I thought was actually a bit comic booky.

[00:16:58] [SPEAKER_03]: Like I felt like I was watching a network TV show

[00:17:00] [SPEAKER_03]: all of a sudden.

[00:17:02] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know, it's a little,

[00:17:04] [SPEAKER_03]: I guess it fits into the walking dead pretty well.

[00:17:07] [SPEAKER_03]: It would have been more grounded if she actually just was

[00:17:10] [SPEAKER_03]: like, you know, fooling around with a bunch of guys

[00:17:13] [SPEAKER_03]: and doing drugs.

[00:17:14] [SPEAKER_05]: Maybe she does both on a good night.

[00:17:18] [SPEAKER_03]: And then takes their stuff.

[00:17:21] [SPEAKER_03]: But anyway, I loved it.

[00:17:23] [SPEAKER_03]: I loved the first 10 minutes so much

[00:17:25] [SPEAKER_03]: and I didn't even realize it didn't have dialogue.

[00:17:26] [SPEAKER_03]: So I'm glad you pointed that out.

[00:17:28] [SPEAKER_03]: That makes me like an even more.

[00:17:29] [SPEAKER_05]: No, I didn't tweak it till the second time

[00:17:31] [SPEAKER_05]: and then I was like, oh, she doesn't actually talk.

[00:17:33] [SPEAKER_05]: Like he, because I thought it's going to be fully non-verbal

[00:17:37] [SPEAKER_05]: but then I think his name is Quinton maybe.

[00:17:42] [SPEAKER_05]: I looked at his names on IMDB,

[00:17:44] [SPEAKER_05]: but yeah, Adam the guy to say character comes in

[00:17:46] [SPEAKER_05]: and talks and that, but it's only really brief

[00:17:49] [SPEAKER_05]: and it sounds like background noise.

[00:17:50] [SPEAKER_05]: The way they've dubbed it, it sounds like he's far away.

[00:17:53] [SPEAKER_05]: It's not like he's directly speaking to her.

[00:17:55] [SPEAKER_05]: But I was thinking about it in relation

[00:17:57] [SPEAKER_05]: to how this episode ends

[00:17:59] [SPEAKER_05]: and it's almost like she, we move from that

[00:18:03] [SPEAKER_05]: to her finding religion all in this one episode.

[00:18:06] [SPEAKER_05]: Like that's her journey is like she goes from that night

[00:18:09] [SPEAKER_05]: to these 48 hours where she loses her sister,

[00:18:13] [SPEAKER_05]: gains this baby

[00:18:14] [SPEAKER_05]: and ends up standing in front of the statue of Saint Laurent

[00:18:16] [SPEAKER_05]: and yeah, it's just a really interesting journey.

[00:18:20] [SPEAKER_05]: It's like a lot of character development in 48 hours

[00:18:23] [SPEAKER_05]: but it's very compelling.

[00:18:26] [SPEAKER_03]: It's just, you said this was your favorite part.

[00:18:30] [SPEAKER_03]: It was mine too.

[00:18:31] [SPEAKER_03]: And I think, you know, Robert Kirkman wanted to do the zombie movie

[00:18:35] [SPEAKER_03]: that kept going and we got the walking down out of it

[00:18:38] [SPEAKER_03]: and that's awesome.

[00:18:39] [SPEAKER_03]: It's so awesome.

[00:18:40] [SPEAKER_03]: But it's interesting how you can have this scene

[00:18:43] [SPEAKER_03]: where Isabelle comes upon this guy

[00:18:46] [SPEAKER_03]: who she thinks is maybe hurt or something

[00:18:48] [SPEAKER_03]: and he's, he gets up and he's a zombie, right?

[00:18:51] [SPEAKER_03]: And it seems so terrifying.

[00:18:53] [SPEAKER_03]: And then you can have later Daryl falling into a moat of zombies

[00:18:56] [SPEAKER_03]: which is totally kick ass

[00:18:57] [SPEAKER_03]: but it's not nearly as tense

[00:18:59] [SPEAKER_03]: because you know Daryl already understands the threat

[00:19:02] [SPEAKER_03]: and when you're in Isabelle's shoe

[00:19:05] [SPEAKER_03]: she doesn't know what the fuck is going on

[00:19:07] [SPEAKER_03]: and that's why it's so much scarier at the beginning

[00:19:09] [SPEAKER_03]: when you're like, they just don't know, you know.

[00:19:13] [SPEAKER_03]: And later we'll talk about it with her sister too

[00:19:16] [SPEAKER_03]: but that's like that too

[00:19:17] [SPEAKER_03]: when her sister turns and she's excited about it at first

[00:19:20] [SPEAKER_03]: thinking maybe she's still alive, you know.

[00:19:22] [SPEAKER_03]: It is like, nope.

[00:19:23] [SPEAKER_05]: It reminded me of Amy and Andrea.

[00:19:28] [SPEAKER_05]: But yeah, the same look too, that fresh zombie look.

[00:19:31] [SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, their sisters.

[00:19:32] [SPEAKER_05]: So brutal.

[00:19:34] [SPEAKER_03]: All right.

[00:19:35] [SPEAKER_03]: Anything else about the opener?

[00:19:38] [SPEAKER_05]: Just that it was great.

[00:19:39] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, it was pretty awesome.

[00:19:42] [SPEAKER_03]: I can't imagine if anybody didn't like that

[00:19:44] [SPEAKER_03]: write in and let us know.

[00:19:45] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm so curious about why you wouldn't like that.

[00:19:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay, my first one is kind of long.

[00:19:54] [SPEAKER_03]: It's about lying because there's lots of lying in this episode.

[00:19:58] [SPEAKER_03]: And Isabelle for a nun lies a lot.

[00:20:01] [SPEAKER_03]: She's a liar.

[00:20:01] [SPEAKER_03]: She lied to Daryl about the radio

[00:20:05] [SPEAKER_03]: and she's saying to these people that Daryl is father Daryl

[00:20:09] [SPEAKER_03]: which I kind of love.

[00:20:10] [SPEAKER_05]: That Peter laughed out loud at that point.

[00:20:13] [SPEAKER_05]: He's like, nah.

[00:20:14] [SPEAKER_05]: And I was like, yeah.

[00:20:15] [SPEAKER_03]: It's funny and that's why I know the writers are like

[00:20:19] [SPEAKER_03]: people are going to love this, you know, and they're right.

[00:20:22] [SPEAKER_03]: There's this exchange with Daryl and Laurent.

[00:20:25] [SPEAKER_03]: Well, they come upon this narrow lane

[00:20:27] [SPEAKER_03]: which most are in Europe.

[00:20:29] [SPEAKER_03]: So I kind of love that.

[00:20:30] [SPEAKER_03]: Zeds come out and Daryl fires a gun to spook the meal

[00:20:33] [SPEAKER_03]: so it runs and the Zeds follow.

[00:20:35] [SPEAKER_03]: I thought, wow, you were pretty quick to get rid of your horse there.

[00:20:37] [SPEAKER_03]: Maybe you couldn't turn around because the road's too narrow.

[00:20:41] [SPEAKER_05]: Very disposable donkey or horse or whatever.

[00:20:44] [SPEAKER_05]: I was like, Daryl, come on.

[00:20:47] [SPEAKER_03]: And Laurent's all worried and Sylvie's like,

[00:20:49] [SPEAKER_03]: no, the meal's fast and he'll get away

[00:20:51] [SPEAKER_03]: and Isabelle says she's sure he ran to the apple orchard

[00:20:54] [SPEAKER_03]: and Daryl's like just tell him the truth.

[00:20:56] [SPEAKER_03]: He's got to learn some time

[00:20:57] [SPEAKER_03]: and she goes, you don't have children, do you?

[00:20:59] [SPEAKER_03]: The truth can wait.

[00:21:00] [SPEAKER_03]: And I'm like, I pretty much tell my kids the truth

[00:21:04] [SPEAKER_03]: about anything they ask about.

[00:21:06] [SPEAKER_03]: I really do because hey, if they can handle

[00:21:09] [SPEAKER_03]: these gruesome nursery rhymes, then they can handle the truth

[00:21:11] [SPEAKER_03]: about the world.

[00:21:14] [SPEAKER_05]: Also I freaking hate when people say you don't have children, do you?

[00:21:17] [SPEAKER_05]: And I'm like, doesn't it mean that I don't make decisions?

[00:21:19] [SPEAKER_05]: Like it doesn't mean that I'm an absolute awful person.

[00:21:22] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I don't know anything.

[00:21:23] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I do have children and I would tell them.

[00:21:26] [SPEAKER_03]: But at first I thought it seemed like

[00:21:29] [SPEAKER_03]: they were contrasting Isabelle who's been lying about things

[00:21:33] [SPEAKER_03]: with Daryl, who we think of as a straight shooter.

[00:21:37] [SPEAKER_03]: And there was this amazing scene I thought

[00:21:40] [SPEAKER_03]: where they're all sitting down at the table

[00:21:42] [SPEAKER_03]: and I just love that this long table

[00:21:44] [SPEAKER_03]: and they're all setting their places and everything

[00:21:46] [SPEAKER_03]: and kind of bullying poor Laura.

[00:21:51] [SPEAKER_03]: Then they ask Daryl, that father Daryl

[00:21:54] [SPEAKER_03]: to lead them in a prayer of thanks.

[00:21:56] [SPEAKER_03]: And he's like, you mean like saying grace?

[00:22:00] [SPEAKER_03]: And they're like, yeah.

[00:22:01] [SPEAKER_03]: And then he said this prayer which got me really choked up.

[00:22:07] [SPEAKER_03]: He said, oh Lord, I'm sure you have your reasons

[00:22:10] [SPEAKER_03]: for turning the whole world upside down.

[00:22:12] [SPEAKER_03]: Maybe we deserve it for being so mean to each other.

[00:22:14] [SPEAKER_03]: We probably do deserve it.

[00:22:16] [SPEAKER_03]: But not tonight.

[00:22:17] [SPEAKER_03]: No, tonight is good.

[00:22:18] [SPEAKER_03]: And if that isn't good enough for you,

[00:22:20] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know what is.

[00:22:22] [SPEAKER_03]: And Isabelle smiling at him and I'm thinking

[00:22:26] [SPEAKER_03]: this is really sincere and I don't know if Daryl

[00:22:28] [SPEAKER_03]: ever intentionally bullshits people.

[00:22:31] [SPEAKER_03]: He just, he's sincere.

[00:22:34] [SPEAKER_03]: But then Daryl wants this mule, another mule or a horse

[00:22:38] [SPEAKER_03]: because he says it's too far to walk so they need a horse

[00:22:41] [SPEAKER_03]: and just conveniently some dude's been hoarding

[00:22:45] [SPEAKER_03]: horses and not food and fuel at this castle.

[00:22:48] [SPEAKER_05]: And he's from Texas, Jason God.

[00:22:51] [SPEAKER_05]: You know, they thought about horse hoarding.

[00:22:53] [SPEAKER_05]: I don't know what she was trying to tell us

[00:22:54] [SPEAKER_05]: about people from Texas.

[00:22:57] [SPEAKER_03]: And Daryl, you know, and the kids say it's dangerous

[00:23:00] [SPEAKER_03]: and they tried raiding the place and it's dangerous

[00:23:02] [SPEAKER_03]: and then Daryl convinces them to show him where it is

[00:23:05] [SPEAKER_03]: by saying that there's medicine there

[00:23:07] [SPEAKER_03]: and the teacher will die without it.

[00:23:09] [SPEAKER_03]: And when he said that I'm like, oh,

[00:23:12] [SPEAKER_03]: that seems like bad writing.

[00:23:13] [SPEAKER_03]: How would anyone know what medicine to give this teacher?

[00:23:16] [SPEAKER_03]: But then Isabelle asks that and Daryl says,

[00:23:19] [SPEAKER_03]: it won't, we just need that horse.

[00:23:20] [SPEAKER_03]: And my first reaction was, oh, that's good writing.

[00:23:23] [SPEAKER_03]: He's making it up to get what he wants and it's kind of

[00:23:25] [SPEAKER_03]: flawed and I like it.

[00:23:26] [SPEAKER_03]: But then I'm like, oh wait, Daryl did bullshit

[00:23:28] [SPEAKER_03]: someone intentionally right then.

[00:23:30] [SPEAKER_03]: And he's a liar too.

[00:23:32] [SPEAKER_03]: And he just wants this horse to get home.

[00:23:35] [SPEAKER_03]: And then after that lie, it's like,

[00:23:39] [SPEAKER_03]: okay, I think Isabelle realizes this too

[00:23:41] [SPEAKER_03]: that Daryl is not really interested in getting Laurent

[00:23:44] [SPEAKER_03]: to this other place.

[00:23:45] [SPEAKER_03]: He just wants to go home

[00:23:46] [SPEAKER_03]: and he's using whatever he can to get that.

[00:23:50] [SPEAKER_03]: And even when he talks about the show,

[00:23:53] [SPEAKER_03]: which we'll talk about later,

[00:23:54] [SPEAKER_03]: but Isabelle's like, did you watch that TV show,

[00:23:56] [SPEAKER_03]: Mark and Mindy?

[00:23:57] [SPEAKER_03]: And he's like, yeah, I mean my brother.

[00:23:59] [SPEAKER_03]: And she's like, I understand wanting to escape.

[00:24:02] [SPEAKER_03]: And I think she's realizing he just wants to escape,

[00:24:06] [SPEAKER_03]: you know, and she understands it

[00:24:09] [SPEAKER_03]: because she used to have a lot of escapes too, distractions.

[00:24:11] [SPEAKER_03]: But then later Lou, this girl,

[00:24:17] [SPEAKER_03]: that's the head of the kids,

[00:24:19] [SPEAKER_03]: the oldest kid said, how did you come to France?

[00:24:22] [SPEAKER_03]: And Daryl says it's a long story.

[00:24:25] [SPEAKER_03]: You can get it on Blu-ray 11 seasons.

[00:24:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:24:30] [SPEAKER_03]: But not in the UK for some reason.

[00:24:32] [SPEAKER_03]: They're weird by airing it.

[00:24:33] [SPEAKER_03]: You gotta get a VPN.

[00:24:35] [SPEAKER_03]: He says the only part that matters

[00:24:37] [SPEAKER_03]: is I get home to my people.

[00:24:38] [SPEAKER_03]: So that just,

[00:24:39] [SPEAKER_03]: but in service of getting home,

[00:24:41] [SPEAKER_03]: he's putting this girl Lou in danger,

[00:24:43] [SPEAKER_03]: which is pretty bad.

[00:24:44] [SPEAKER_03]: This is a situation where I think

[00:24:46] [SPEAKER_03]: the writing isn't quite as good.

[00:24:48] [SPEAKER_03]: It's typical walking dead where there's some super questionable.

[00:24:52] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay, you got a point.

[00:24:54] [SPEAKER_05]: I would agree with you,

[00:24:55] [SPEAKER_05]: apart from the fact that he locks Lou in that shed

[00:24:58] [SPEAKER_05]: and doesn't like her coming in.

[00:25:00] [SPEAKER_03]: That was nice.

[00:25:01] [SPEAKER_03]: But what if he died?

[00:25:03] [SPEAKER_05]: And she'd have a long time in the shed.

[00:25:07] [SPEAKER_03]: He took her there lying to her

[00:25:10] [SPEAKER_03]: that this medicine was going to help her teacher

[00:25:12] [SPEAKER_03]: and put her in.

[00:25:14] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, yes, he didn't put her as much danger as he could have,

[00:25:17] [SPEAKER_03]: but it was still pretty bad.

[00:25:18] [SPEAKER_03]: Like I think,

[00:25:21] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, she's a child

[00:25:23] [SPEAKER_03]: and he took her into this

[00:25:26] [SPEAKER_03]: a really potentially deadly situation.

[00:25:31] [SPEAKER_03]: And that's pretty fucked up.

[00:25:33] [SPEAKER_05]: No, I agree.

[00:25:35] [SPEAKER_05]: He did get the medicine,

[00:25:36] [SPEAKER_05]: which I thought was interesting.

[00:25:38] [SPEAKER_05]: I was like, I mean, he's okay.

[00:25:39] [SPEAKER_05]: He's going through with it

[00:25:41] [SPEAKER_05]: the full way then that, yes, okay, here's the medicine.

[00:25:44] [SPEAKER_05]: It's not going to do anything.

[00:25:45] [SPEAKER_05]: Like I do think you have a point there

[00:25:47] [SPEAKER_05]: about pulling kids into that situation.

[00:25:50] [SPEAKER_05]: He wouldn't have done that to Judith.

[00:25:51] [SPEAKER_03]: He put her in a really dangerous situation

[00:25:53] [SPEAKER_03]: under false pretenses so we could get what he wanted.

[00:25:56] [SPEAKER_03]: And so he got the medicine

[00:25:58] [SPEAKER_03]: and I was wondering about that because

[00:26:01] [SPEAKER_03]: maybe there was a part of him that thought,

[00:26:03] [SPEAKER_03]: well, maybe this could help.

[00:26:04] [SPEAKER_03]: But I think, I mean, he even told her at the end.

[00:26:07] [SPEAKER_03]: It wouldn't have helped anyway.

[00:26:08] [SPEAKER_03]: So I think he didn't really think it would help.

[00:26:11] [SPEAKER_03]: I think the only reason he got the medicine

[00:26:12] [SPEAKER_03]: was just to keep the lie going

[00:26:14] [SPEAKER_03]: until they could get out of there.

[00:26:16] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:26:17] [SPEAKER_03]: You know, otherwise,

[00:26:18] [SPEAKER_03]: when he came out with just a horse,

[00:26:20] [SPEAKER_03]: she'd be like, where's the medicine?

[00:26:22] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh shit.

[00:26:23] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh yeah, right.

[00:26:24] [SPEAKER_03]: The medicine.

[00:26:26] [SPEAKER_05]: Okay.

[00:26:27] [SPEAKER_05]: Wait here.

[00:26:29] [SPEAKER_05]: Just wait here one sec.

[00:26:30] [SPEAKER_05]: This guy's from Texas.

[00:26:31] [SPEAKER_05]: He's really cool.

[00:26:32] [SPEAKER_05]: We'll be back in a minute.

[00:26:33] [SPEAKER_03]: It's actually an apple.

[00:26:34] [SPEAKER_03]: An apple a day.

[00:26:37] [SPEAKER_05]: We'll go and see if the horse has picked some.

[00:26:40] [SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, and then

[00:26:42] [SPEAKER_03]: at the end he comes clean about it with her.

[00:26:45] [SPEAKER_03]: The meds were never going to help her.

[00:26:47] [SPEAKER_03]: I lied to you to get a horse.

[00:26:49] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm sorry.

[00:26:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay, good job coming clean,

[00:26:51] [SPEAKER_03]: but fuck you like what?

[00:26:54] [SPEAKER_03]: And she doesn't seem to care,

[00:26:55] [SPEAKER_03]: which is why I think the writing's a little off.

[00:26:57] [SPEAKER_03]: And then she goes,

[00:26:58] [SPEAKER_03]: so what are we going to do without her?

[00:26:59] [SPEAKER_03]: Because her teacher had just died

[00:27:00] [SPEAKER_03]: and Darryl basically says,

[00:27:02] [SPEAKER_03]: nah, you'll be fine.

[00:27:03] [SPEAKER_03]: People are usually fine in the ZA,

[00:27:04] [SPEAKER_03]: especially kids.

[00:27:05] [SPEAKER_03]: Bye.

[00:27:09] [SPEAKER_05]: They got hedgehog back, I guess.

[00:27:11] [SPEAKER_05]: They seem to like hedgehog.

[00:27:13] [SPEAKER_03]: Apparently Darryl's never read Lord of the Flies.

[00:27:15] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I think it was a little morally dubious

[00:27:17] [SPEAKER_03]: to just leave these kids alone,

[00:27:19] [SPEAKER_03]: even though they know how to grow stuff.

[00:27:22] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I was kind of trying to figure out

[00:27:23] [SPEAKER_05]: how old Lou was.

[00:27:25] [SPEAKER_05]: And I was like, she is at most

[00:27:27] [SPEAKER_03]: 16.

[00:27:28] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I would say.

[00:27:29] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, not 20.

[00:27:30] [SPEAKER_03]: You're right.

[00:27:30] [SPEAKER_05]: So we've established it's 12 years.

[00:27:34] [SPEAKER_05]: It was a preschool.

[00:27:36] [SPEAKER_05]: So logically, the oldest she could have been

[00:27:38] [SPEAKER_05]: is about four.

[00:27:39] [SPEAKER_05]: So yeah, she's kind of 16.

[00:27:41] [SPEAKER_05]: And she's great.

[00:27:42] [SPEAKER_05]: I really liked her character.

[00:27:44] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah.

[00:27:44] [SPEAKER_05]: But yeah, it was not

[00:27:47] [SPEAKER_05]: the morally nicest thing to have done there.

[00:27:51] [SPEAKER_05]: I definitely agree with that.

[00:27:52] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and I mean,

[00:27:54] [SPEAKER_03]: as soon as they got to the preschool,

[00:27:57] [SPEAKER_03]: I thought, well, they're all going to be dead.

[00:27:59] [SPEAKER_03]: You know?

[00:28:00] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:28:00] [SPEAKER_03]: So at least they're not yet, you know.

[00:28:02] [SPEAKER_03]: And hopefully we'll never see them again.

[00:28:04] [SPEAKER_03]: We'll just be able to think they're fine.

[00:28:06] [SPEAKER_05]: Well, just like those kids in fear who we never saw again

[00:28:09] [SPEAKER_05]: after they worked in oil refinery.

[00:28:12] [SPEAKER_05]: That's ridiculous.

[00:28:13] [SPEAKER_03]: And this at least makes sense because they're on the move.

[00:28:15] [SPEAKER_03]: They're not supposed to be taking care of these kids.

[00:28:18] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I did laugh at preschool.

[00:28:21] [SPEAKER_05]: There's a show I really like,

[00:28:22] [SPEAKER_05]: crazy ex-girlfriend.

[00:28:23] [SPEAKER_05]: There's a running joke in it that one of the characters

[00:28:25] [SPEAKER_05]: goes off to priest school.

[00:28:27] [SPEAKER_05]: But every time they say it,

[00:28:28] [SPEAKER_05]: they think they say priest school and they're like,

[00:28:30] [SPEAKER_05]: why is he going to preschool?

[00:28:31] [SPEAKER_05]: No, no, priest school.

[00:28:33] [SPEAKER_05]: So I was laughing.

[00:28:34] [SPEAKER_05]: They're just like, is it priest school or preschool?

[00:28:36] [SPEAKER_05]: Both are relevant to the show.

[00:28:40] [SPEAKER_03]: And about lying,

[00:28:42] [SPEAKER_03]: we find out that

[00:28:44] [SPEAKER_03]: Isabel has lied to Laurent about where he came from

[00:28:48] [SPEAKER_03]: and he's telling these kids at the

[00:28:50] [SPEAKER_03]: at the preschool

[00:28:53] [SPEAKER_03]: that after mother went to be with the angels,

[00:28:56] [SPEAKER_03]: my father, he was falsely imprisoned,

[00:28:57] [SPEAKER_03]: joined the foreign legion to fight the hungry ones.

[00:29:00] [SPEAKER_03]: He was a hero who gave his life for a free France.

[00:29:04] [SPEAKER_03]: Even when a medal, they're all laughing at him.

[00:29:06] [SPEAKER_03]: They're like, those penguins tricked you.

[00:29:08] [SPEAKER_05]: Penguins, I love that.

[00:29:10] [SPEAKER_05]: I missed it the first time around then I was like,

[00:29:12] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah, penguins, that's funny.

[00:29:14] [SPEAKER_03]: And I mean, for a smart kid,

[00:29:16] [SPEAKER_03]: he's not too bright,

[00:29:17] [SPEAKER_03]: although there are different kinds of intelligence.

[00:29:19] [SPEAKER_05]: I liked this episode a lot because of that

[00:29:22] [SPEAKER_05]: and it's kind of one of my points is

[00:29:25] [SPEAKER_05]: Laurent is getting his shell broken here

[00:29:29] [SPEAKER_05]: because the nuns have kind of done a number on him

[00:29:32] [SPEAKER_05]: by making him this like blessed child

[00:29:35] [SPEAKER_05]: who can do no wrong and cherishing him,

[00:29:39] [SPEAKER_05]: and lying to him and coddling him.

[00:29:41] [SPEAKER_05]: And he's through the looking glass now

[00:29:44] [SPEAKER_05]: and these kids are like treating him like a normal kid.

[00:29:47] [SPEAKER_05]: Like they're being mean to him.

[00:29:48] [SPEAKER_05]: They're telling him that sounds like bullshit,

[00:29:50] [SPEAKER_05]: but they're also being kind to him within that meanness.

[00:29:53] [SPEAKER_05]: Like there's a bit of kind of bullying

[00:29:56] [SPEAKER_05]: and joshing from some of the kids,

[00:29:57] [SPEAKER_05]: but there's also like let's just play together.

[00:30:00] [SPEAKER_05]: And they're not saying that sounds made up to ruin his life.

[00:30:03] [SPEAKER_05]: They're just being honest that like someone has lied to you.

[00:30:06] [SPEAKER_05]: That sounds made up.

[00:30:07] [SPEAKER_03]: They're kind of mocking, but it's in a way that kids do.

[00:30:10] [SPEAKER_03]: And the kid that didn't want him to take the seat,

[00:30:12] [SPEAKER_03]: it was because he thought his brother was coming back,

[00:30:14] [SPEAKER_03]: which is another lie that girl Lou said

[00:30:19] [SPEAKER_03]: that she went to raid this place with those two kids

[00:30:23] [SPEAKER_03]: and that they went to find more help,

[00:30:25] [SPEAKER_03]: but really well one of them turned out was trapped there

[00:30:27] [SPEAKER_03]: and then this kid's brother was in the moat as a zombie.

[00:30:30] [SPEAKER_03]: But anyway, so that kid, he seemed pretty mean,

[00:30:32] [SPEAKER_03]: but it was just more about his brother

[00:30:34] [SPEAKER_03]: like being protective of his brother's spot.

[00:30:36] [SPEAKER_03]: And yeah, I think the other kids are just like treating kids

[00:30:39] [SPEAKER_03]: like kids do and by the end of it, you know, he was like,

[00:30:42] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah, when you give someone shit like that,

[00:30:44] [SPEAKER_03]: if you do it in a certain way, even as adults,

[00:30:47] [SPEAKER_03]: it kind of means I respect you enough to think that

[00:30:51] [SPEAKER_03]: you can handle this and that we can kind of be real

[00:30:53] [SPEAKER_03]: with each other and that we're buds, you know.

[00:30:56] [SPEAKER_03]: And some people push that too hard where it turns into bullying,

[00:30:59] [SPEAKER_03]: but like you do it to me all the time, Lucy.

[00:31:01] [SPEAKER_03]: So I love it.

[00:31:03] [SPEAKER_05]: I do.

[00:31:04] [SPEAKER_05]: I kick that football out and laugh to myself

[00:31:06] [SPEAKER_05]: and I'm like, so nice to be mean.

[00:31:10] [SPEAKER_03]: Because we're friends.

[00:31:11] [SPEAKER_05]: Because we're friends, but I do like some of my friends

[00:31:14] [SPEAKER_05]: and it's in Scotland and I think Britain generally,

[00:31:19] [SPEAKER_05]: there's a lot of kind of swearing and insult humor and stuff.

[00:31:22] [SPEAKER_05]: But sometimes I hear the way my friends and I talk to each other

[00:31:24] [SPEAKER_05]: and I'm like, you know, if someone walks into this room,

[00:31:26] [SPEAKER_05]: they'd be like, Jesus Christ, you actually like this person?

[00:31:29] [SPEAKER_05]: And I'm like, yeah, I love them.

[00:31:30] [SPEAKER_05]: They're like one of my best friends,

[00:31:31] [SPEAKER_05]: but I'm being completely horrible to them right now.

[00:31:34] [SPEAKER_05]: But the thing I also saw with Laurent as well is like,

[00:31:39] [SPEAKER_05]: when you're...

[00:31:39] [SPEAKER_05]: So Laurent's obviously a really extreme situation

[00:31:42] [SPEAKER_05]: because he's been raised entirely by adults

[00:31:44] [SPEAKER_05]: and has like never been around other children.

[00:31:45] [SPEAKER_05]: But like even as someone who grew up an only child,

[00:31:50] [SPEAKER_05]: you are slightly less well equipped to deal with other kids

[00:31:54] [SPEAKER_05]: because you're just like at home.

[00:31:56] [SPEAKER_03]: Well, he walks up and he's like,

[00:31:59] [SPEAKER_03]: hi, I walk backwards for three months

[00:32:02] [SPEAKER_03]: even upstairs.

[00:32:03] [SPEAKER_03]: What's your name?

[00:32:04] [SPEAKER_03]: And they're like, dude.

[00:32:05] [SPEAKER_05]: Don't open with that man.

[00:32:07] [SPEAKER_05]: Those kids are going to hit you.

[00:32:09] [SPEAKER_05]: I warmed to Laurent this episode,

[00:32:11] [SPEAKER_05]: but in a way that I was like, oh no,

[00:32:13] [SPEAKER_05]: oh no, no, no, that's the kind of shit I would have done.

[00:32:16] [SPEAKER_05]: I would have thought that really cool and it actually isn't.

[00:32:18] [SPEAKER_05]: But I think him being at that convent,

[00:32:21] [SPEAKER_05]: not convent, that preschool

[00:32:22] [SPEAKER_05]: has been really good for him.

[00:32:25] [SPEAKER_05]: And I think him coming out of that bubble

[00:32:29] [SPEAKER_05]: and realizing...

[00:32:30] [SPEAKER_05]: I think finding the mule and realizing

[00:32:32] [SPEAKER_05]: that he has been lied to

[00:32:33] [SPEAKER_05]: and he has been coddled is really important.

[00:32:36] [SPEAKER_05]: And you see him start to verbalize that towards the end

[00:32:41] [SPEAKER_05]: where he's like, I don't want it to be special.

[00:32:43] [SPEAKER_05]: I don't want to get in the car.

[00:32:45] [SPEAKER_05]: She treats me like a baby.

[00:32:46] [SPEAKER_05]: And for whatever reason, she's not told him.

[00:32:49] [SPEAKER_05]: I don't think that she's his aunt.

[00:32:52] [SPEAKER_03]: No, I don't know.

[00:32:54] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't understand why.

[00:32:55] [SPEAKER_03]: Why not?

[00:32:55] [SPEAKER_05]: I think that's a weird thing not to disclose.

[00:32:58] [SPEAKER_05]: So I'm interested to see if that's about her.

[00:33:01] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, the whole thing, because that's...

[00:33:03] [SPEAKER_05]: I mean, that happens in families

[00:33:04] [SPEAKER_05]: that someone has raised as like the child

[00:33:07] [SPEAKER_05]: or the grandchild when actually you find out

[00:33:10] [SPEAKER_05]: your mom is actually...

[00:33:11] [SPEAKER_05]: You know what I mean?

[00:33:11] [SPEAKER_05]: You're raised by older parents.

[00:33:13] [SPEAKER_05]: And then you're like...

[00:33:14] [SPEAKER_05]: The person you thought was your sibling

[00:33:15] [SPEAKER_05]: is actually your parent.

[00:33:16] [SPEAKER_05]: Like, that does happen.

[00:33:18] [SPEAKER_05]: It fucks you up.

[00:33:19] [SPEAKER_05]: It happens to Ted Monday.

[00:33:20] [SPEAKER_05]: This is where this could go.

[00:33:22] [SPEAKER_03]: And look where...

[00:33:22] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, Laurent's next.

[00:33:24] [SPEAKER_03]: He's gonna start eating people.

[00:33:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, though, I love the way you put that

[00:33:29] [SPEAKER_03]: because I was just thinking...

[00:33:32] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, he's starting...

[00:33:32] [SPEAKER_03]: I think Laurent's starting to realize

[00:33:34] [SPEAKER_03]: that he's been lied to,

[00:33:36] [SPEAKER_03]: but I didn't put two and two together

[00:33:38] [SPEAKER_03]: that it's kind of being around these kids

[00:33:41] [SPEAKER_03]: that woke him up to that.

[00:33:42] [SPEAKER_03]: They kind of brought him down to reality.

[00:33:45] [SPEAKER_03]: And yeah, he's been coddled before.

[00:33:47] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I really like that.

[00:33:48] [SPEAKER_03]: So it really was good for him.

[00:33:49] [SPEAKER_03]: And now, I mean, he knows that he's been lied to

[00:33:52] [SPEAKER_03]: about the mule and that just made...

[00:33:54] [SPEAKER_03]: And then that with the kids teasing him

[00:33:57] [SPEAKER_03]: about his story that sounds fake,

[00:33:58] [SPEAKER_03]: he's like, yeah, they lied to me about this.

[00:34:01] [SPEAKER_03]: They're lying to me about everything.

[00:34:02] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, we're the freaking mule mum.

[00:34:04] [SPEAKER_05]: And then he runs out and he's like,

[00:34:06] [SPEAKER_05]: oh man, there was something about him finding the mule.

[00:34:11] [SPEAKER_05]: It reminded me of Carl a little bit

[00:34:13] [SPEAKER_05]: when he sees the deer in season two

[00:34:16] [SPEAKER_05]: and then gets shot in the stomach.

[00:34:19] [SPEAKER_05]: Just this idea of kids in the walking dead

[00:34:20] [SPEAKER_05]: going out into nature

[00:34:22] [SPEAKER_05]: and sort of losing their innocence

[00:34:23] [SPEAKER_05]: or getting like, you know, look at the flowers

[00:34:25] [SPEAKER_05]: going out into the deer.

[00:34:27] [SPEAKER_05]: Seeing this horse getting...

[00:34:28] [SPEAKER_05]: Sophia runs off into the wilderness

[00:34:31] [SPEAKER_05]: and never comes back.

[00:34:32] [SPEAKER_05]: And I thought of Sophia as well with Darrell,

[00:34:36] [SPEAKER_05]: not Darrell, Lou shooting the kid

[00:34:38] [SPEAKER_05]: who was in the moat, the child zombie

[00:34:41] [SPEAKER_05]: because that felt like the moment Darrell stepped up

[00:34:44] [SPEAKER_05]: in season two was when he or Rick rather

[00:34:47] [SPEAKER_05]: shot Sophia when nobody else would.

[00:34:49] [SPEAKER_05]: And I was like, oh, this is kind of like a leadership thing

[00:34:51] [SPEAKER_05]: of like doing the heart thing.

[00:34:52] [SPEAKER_03]: And then Lou, she also killed the teacher.

[00:34:57] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:34:57] [SPEAKER_03]: And that was her also asserting her leadership

[00:35:00] [SPEAKER_03]: which it must have been really hard, you know.

[00:35:03] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, so difficult.

[00:35:05] [SPEAKER_05]: But I did, I felt for Ramon,

[00:35:07] [SPEAKER_05]: Ramon Laurent this season, he, you know,

[00:35:10] [SPEAKER_05]: he points out he's playing hide and seek

[00:35:12] [SPEAKER_05]: and he's like, how did you find me?

[00:35:14] [SPEAKER_05]: And the girl's like, that wasn't a good hiding place.

[00:35:16] [SPEAKER_05]: And you realize the nuns always let him win.

[00:35:19] [SPEAKER_05]: So he's never not won something

[00:35:21] [SPEAKER_05]: because the nuns have always been like, oh, Laurent

[00:35:23] [SPEAKER_05]: you were so well hidden, I didn't see you.

[00:35:26] [SPEAKER_05]: He's been fed crappy stories about his dad that aren't true.

[00:35:31] [SPEAKER_05]: He is so like you say, so smart in some ways

[00:35:34] [SPEAKER_05]: and then in other ways like social expertise

[00:35:38] [SPEAKER_05]: and being able to read people he's actually really not.

[00:35:41] [SPEAKER_05]: And it's interesting because these kids

[00:35:44] [SPEAKER_05]: are surprisingly well developed and quite hardened

[00:35:47] [SPEAKER_05]: and still quite educated.

[00:35:50] [SPEAKER_05]: But it's, but then you see in the final scenes

[00:35:53] [SPEAKER_05]: when Hedgehog comes back and Darryl says, you know,

[00:35:56] [SPEAKER_05]: I allow you to get a horse and you see Laurent.

[00:35:58] [SPEAKER_05]: I've written Laurent is playing depression,

[00:36:01] [SPEAKER_05]: pinata because he's just kind of hitting something

[00:36:03] [SPEAKER_05]: with the stick what it's spelled looks like the window.

[00:36:05] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm like, oh no, he's depressed.

[00:36:09] [SPEAKER_05]: He comforts one of the children

[00:36:10] [SPEAKER_05]: and says my teacher is also with the angels.

[00:36:12] [SPEAKER_05]: So he's sort of learning to empathize a bit more

[00:36:15] [SPEAKER_05]: and meet them on their level.

[00:36:17] [SPEAKER_05]: And he's the one who says Nanu Nanu

[00:36:19] [SPEAKER_05]: to kind of lighten the mood.

[00:36:21] [SPEAKER_05]: So yeah, Laurent is growing on me a little bit.

[00:36:25] [SPEAKER_05]: I'd like that he's a wonder kid with layers

[00:36:27] [SPEAKER_05]: and not unlike Ellie in the last of us,

[00:36:30] [SPEAKER_05]: like they're there.

[00:36:32] [SPEAKER_05]: There's more to them than just being a MacGuffin

[00:36:34] [SPEAKER_05]: and Laurent, I think the anger that he's feeling

[00:36:38] [SPEAKER_05]: in the frustration is going to be more interesting

[00:36:40] [SPEAKER_05]: to watch than just.

[00:36:43] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm smart and cute.

[00:36:44] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I am smart and cute.

[00:36:46] [SPEAKER_05]: This special one.

[00:36:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, he kind of got his bell wrong.

[00:36:49] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I know.

[00:36:50] [SPEAKER_05]: I was like, he did get movie night though.

[00:36:52] [SPEAKER_05]: So that was good.

[00:36:55] [SPEAKER_05]: I did.

[00:36:55] [SPEAKER_05]: So I looked up Saint Laurent

[00:36:57] [SPEAKER_05]: because that's where Isabel ends up holding him

[00:37:00] [SPEAKER_05]: and names him after.

[00:37:01] [SPEAKER_05]: And I've written what's his paddle waffle

[00:37:03] [SPEAKER_05]: because I didn't know what it was he was holding.

[00:37:05] [SPEAKER_05]: And as with all like Saint stories

[00:37:07] [SPEAKER_05]: it's actually much bleaker than I thought it was.

[00:37:09] [SPEAKER_05]: So he's usually holding a gridiron,

[00:37:11] [SPEAKER_05]: which is the kind of waffle thing.

[00:37:13] [SPEAKER_05]: And that is what he was killed on.

[00:37:16] [SPEAKER_05]: He was burned alive.

[00:37:17] [SPEAKER_05]: So if we see Laurent going near fire or barbecues

[00:37:22] [SPEAKER_05]: I would be worried because that seems to be house

[00:37:25] [SPEAKER_05]: and Laurent's died, which was being roasted to death.

[00:37:29] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:37:30] [SPEAKER_05]: So that's nice.

[00:37:31] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, you got to watch out for that.

[00:37:33] [SPEAKER_05]: Stay away from terminus.

[00:37:34] [SPEAKER_03]: That would be too on the nose, you guys.

[00:37:36] [SPEAKER_05]: It would a little bit.

[00:37:37] [SPEAKER_05]: It would.

[00:37:38] [SPEAKER_03]: It would be fine.

[00:37:39] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm okay with that.

[00:37:40] [SPEAKER_03]: Whatever.

[00:37:40] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:37:43] [SPEAKER_03]: That was great.

[00:37:44] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay.

[00:37:45] [SPEAKER_03]: So I want to talk about Lily and Laurent's origin.

[00:37:49] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:37:50] [SPEAKER_03]: So Isabelle asks to go pick up her sister

[00:37:53] [SPEAKER_03]: and her drug dealer or boyfriend or whoever that is.

[00:37:57] [SPEAKER_03]: And I love just seeing the driving around the streets of Paris

[00:38:01] [SPEAKER_03]: just frantically, but it's not so fucked up

[00:38:04] [SPEAKER_03]: that they can't get through yet.

[00:38:06] [SPEAKER_03]: And then and then the gas station it's all backed up

[00:38:09] [SPEAKER_03]: and you can kind of hear people yelling at each other

[00:38:11] [SPEAKER_03]: in the background and Lily throws up on the guy.

[00:38:13] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:38:15] [SPEAKER_03]: It's funny and tells Isabelle she's pregnant

[00:38:17] [SPEAKER_03]: and then he's like, we can't take her with us.

[00:38:21] [SPEAKER_03]: We're going somewhere secluded.

[00:38:22] [SPEAKER_03]: There's no hospitals and I didn't like the guy after that.

[00:38:26] [SPEAKER_05]: No, awful.

[00:38:28] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:38:28] [SPEAKER_05]: Also, if you think that he might be the father

[00:38:30] [SPEAKER_05]: of that takes a different.

[00:38:31] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, right.

[00:38:33] [SPEAKER_05]: Thing doesn't like, because the first time I was like,

[00:38:34] [SPEAKER_05]: oh, I mean that's incredibly selfish.

[00:38:37] [SPEAKER_05]: Okay.

[00:38:37] [SPEAKER_05]: And then I was like, oh, if he's the dad though,

[00:38:40] [SPEAKER_05]: that's him like need her out the way so that you don't

[00:38:42] [SPEAKER_05]: find out what happened.

[00:38:43] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:38:44] [SPEAKER_05]: And awful person.

[00:38:46] [SPEAKER_03]: I actually, I'm just thinking of this now,

[00:38:48] [SPEAKER_03]: but we don't have to think of this in the context of

[00:38:50] [SPEAKER_03]: they don't really know what's happening.

[00:38:52] [SPEAKER_03]: And it reminds me of being in Hawaii during these

[00:38:55] [SPEAKER_03]: fires recently where my head just wouldn't let me

[00:38:58] [SPEAKER_03]: believe that it was that serious.

[00:39:00] [SPEAKER_03]: I just kept thinking the Wi-Fi was out and I hope

[00:39:03] [SPEAKER_03]: they hurry up and get it back on until I started

[00:39:05] [SPEAKER_03]: hearing what was really going on.

[00:39:07] [SPEAKER_03]: You know, I just didn't want to believe it.

[00:39:09] [SPEAKER_03]: So if he just thinks this is a temporary thing,

[00:39:12] [SPEAKER_03]: then maybe it does make sense to go to a clinic

[00:39:14] [SPEAKER_03]: and not go to some secluded place.

[00:39:16] [SPEAKER_03]: You know, he doesn't know it's the zombie apocalypse.

[00:39:19] [SPEAKER_05]: I think he says we'll be back in Paris in a few days,

[00:39:21] [SPEAKER_05]: which is like...

[00:39:24] [SPEAKER_03]: So on that, so I'm sort of rethinking that,

[00:39:26] [SPEAKER_03]: but still anyway, if it, but if it's his kid,

[00:39:29] [SPEAKER_03]: then yes, douchebag.

[00:39:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:39:32] [SPEAKER_03]: So anyway, she pickpockets him,

[00:39:35] [SPEAKER_03]: which then I did like the pickpocketing because

[00:39:37] [SPEAKER_03]: it came back in a fun way because it looked like

[00:39:39] [SPEAKER_03]: she was going to give in to him and then

[00:39:41] [SPEAKER_03]: we were going to think that maybe she felt guilty

[00:39:43] [SPEAKER_03]: about leaving her sister or something, but

[00:39:44] [SPEAKER_03]: she pickpocketed him.

[00:39:46] [SPEAKER_03]: And then they stopped for this ambulance or something.

[00:39:49] [SPEAKER_03]: Like did they, why did they stop?

[00:39:51] [SPEAKER_05]: They stopped because there was an ambulance

[00:39:53] [SPEAKER_05]: at the side of the road and they thought,

[00:39:54] [SPEAKER_05]: oh, there's paramedics there.

[00:39:55] [SPEAKER_05]: They could give us advice here.

[00:39:57] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, I see. Got it.

[00:39:58] [SPEAKER_05]: But whatever scene had transpired had

[00:40:02] [SPEAKER_05]: happened and people had been bitten

[00:40:04] [SPEAKER_05]: as far as I could tell.

[00:40:07] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean probably the ambulance went

[00:40:09] [SPEAKER_03]: and picked up somebody and then that somebody ate them.

[00:40:12] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:40:14] [SPEAKER_03]: So then we can only laugh about that on this podcast.

[00:40:19] [SPEAKER_03]: And then so we find out later that

[00:40:23] [SPEAKER_03]: I think that's when Lily got bitten, right?

[00:40:25] [SPEAKER_03]: In the scuffle with those zombies that came out of that ambulance.

[00:40:28] [SPEAKER_05]: Which is surprising because her jacket looked quite hefty.

[00:40:30] [SPEAKER_05]: That did surprise me when she was,

[00:40:32] [SPEAKER_05]: she showed that she'd been bitten.

[00:40:34] [SPEAKER_05]: I was like, oh crap. Okay.

[00:40:35] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:40:36] [SPEAKER_03]: That happens a lot in these shows.

[00:40:38] [SPEAKER_03]: There's this big old bite underneath her clothes.

[00:40:41] [SPEAKER_03]: And then we see Isabel finding the abbey.

[00:40:44] [SPEAKER_03]: And so like, oh, that's how she got there.

[00:40:45] [SPEAKER_03]: And Perjan is there fully alive and everything.

[00:40:49] [SPEAKER_03]: And then we see Lily has this big bite.

[00:40:52] [SPEAKER_03]: But it's that thing I was talking about earlier

[00:40:55] [SPEAKER_03]: where the characters see that differently

[00:40:58] [SPEAKER_03]: because they don't know what's going on.

[00:40:59] [SPEAKER_03]: So they're just like, oh, that's a bad bite.

[00:41:02] [SPEAKER_03]: And I'm like, you should probably kill her right now.

[00:41:06] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I know.

[00:41:07] [SPEAKER_05]: How cool was it to see Perjan exercising her?

[00:41:13] [SPEAKER_05]: Like he's fully, fully on exercising.

[00:41:15] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's very much.

[00:41:16] [SPEAKER_03]: Because that's when...

[00:41:17] [SPEAKER_05]: How did they realize, you know?

[00:41:19] [SPEAKER_03]: Well, let me get to that.

[00:41:21] [SPEAKER_03]: So Lily says she's seven months pregnant

[00:41:24] [SPEAKER_03]: and Isabel asks who the father is.

[00:41:26] [SPEAKER_03]: But I think she's either in labor

[00:41:28] [SPEAKER_03]: or just having pains from being bit by a zombie

[00:41:31] [SPEAKER_03]: and she's just, girl, that's how to grown.

[00:41:34] [SPEAKER_03]: Doesn't say who the father is.

[00:41:35] [SPEAKER_03]: So maybe that's the thing that we'll learn later.

[00:41:37] [SPEAKER_03]: And then that's when Isabel starts singing

[00:41:40] [SPEAKER_03]: Aloe Weta to calm her down,

[00:41:43] [SPEAKER_03]: which is sort of grim.

[00:41:46] [SPEAKER_03]: And then Lily asks Isabel to look after the baby.

[00:41:50] [SPEAKER_03]: I slipped there, Fordy and slip, Ellie.

[00:41:52] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:41:54] [SPEAKER_03]: And maybe that contributed to Isabel deciding

[00:41:57] [SPEAKER_03]: to stay at the Abbey and being none

[00:41:59] [SPEAKER_03]: just because she knew she had to stay there

[00:42:01] [SPEAKER_03]: and look after the kid.

[00:42:03] [SPEAKER_03]: And then Lily's giving birth

[00:42:04] [SPEAKER_03]: and it's of course this dramatic birth scene

[00:42:06] [SPEAKER_03]: and then she just keels over and dies.

[00:42:09] [SPEAKER_03]: And Elizabeth, oh no, but then Elizabeth's still by her side

[00:42:12] [SPEAKER_03]: and is excited that she's moving.

[00:42:14] [SPEAKER_03]: And that's another thing.

[00:42:15] [SPEAKER_03]: Like she's happy, but we're like,

[00:42:17] [SPEAKER_03]: you better take a couple steps back.

[00:42:19] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, you gotta move.

[00:42:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and the first one that she witnesses

[00:42:23] [SPEAKER_03]: is reanimated as her sister.

[00:42:25] [SPEAKER_03]: And so it's pretty intense.

[00:42:28] [SPEAKER_03]: And yeah, totally reminding me of Amy.

[00:42:30] [SPEAKER_03]: And now we know that Laurent was born from a zombie.

[00:42:35] [SPEAKER_03]: And we will do, I think we should do a quick

[00:42:38] [SPEAKER_03]: spoilery segment at the very end of this podcast

[00:42:41] [SPEAKER_03]: to talk about how this is similar to another show.

[00:42:44] [SPEAKER_03]: But I don't think we should talk about it too much

[00:42:46] [SPEAKER_03]: right now in case people haven't seen that show.

[00:42:49] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I think that's fair.

[00:42:51] [SPEAKER_03]: So it'll just be really quick though.

[00:42:52] [SPEAKER_03]: But the question that came up for me is if Laurent's mother

[00:42:56] [SPEAKER_03]: was bitten while he was still in the womb,

[00:42:58] [SPEAKER_03]: wouldn't he be infected?

[00:43:00] [SPEAKER_03]: But then I remember the way it works in the walking dead

[00:43:03] [SPEAKER_03]: is everyone is infected and they all turn after they die.

[00:43:05] [SPEAKER_03]: So the bite doesn't actually infect you.

[00:43:08] [SPEAKER_03]: It just makes you sick and kills you and then you turn.

[00:43:11] [SPEAKER_03]: So then the question is whatever a bite does to people

[00:43:13] [SPEAKER_03]: would that also impact a baby in the womb?

[00:43:16] [SPEAKER_03]: And just based on this, because this is the first time

[00:43:18] [SPEAKER_03]: we've seen anything like this in the walking dead,

[00:43:19] [SPEAKER_03]: the answer to that seems to be either no, it doesn't

[00:43:21] [SPEAKER_03]: or Laurent is actually some miracle kid, you know.

[00:43:25] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:43:26] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:43:27] [SPEAKER_05]: I guess you would need to kill him to find out.

[00:43:30] [SPEAKER_05]: It's terrible.

[00:43:31] [SPEAKER_05]: You need to kill him to know like Laurent.

[00:43:33] [SPEAKER_05]: Going to just hold your breath for a really long time

[00:43:35] [SPEAKER_05]: so we can just figure this out.

[00:43:37] [SPEAKER_03]: Make sure not to get him in the brain

[00:43:38] [SPEAKER_03]: and then we'll see what happens.

[00:43:41] [SPEAKER_03]: Can't do that.

[00:43:41] [SPEAKER_05]: It's the first time we've seen someone bitten

[00:43:45] [SPEAKER_05]: giving birth in walking dead.

[00:43:49] [SPEAKER_05]: Everyone else has been like Lori died from childbirth

[00:43:54] [SPEAKER_05]: essentially.

[00:43:54] [SPEAKER_05]: She always knew that was a risk because Carl had me in a C-section

[00:43:57] [SPEAKER_05]: and she was going to need another one.

[00:43:59] [SPEAKER_05]: So she wasn't actually bitten.

[00:44:01] [SPEAKER_05]: She just had to die.

[00:44:02] [SPEAKER_03]: And then Judith was born and then Judith shot her

[00:44:04] [SPEAKER_03]: in the head, right?

[00:44:05] [SPEAKER_03]: Is that what happened?

[00:44:06] [SPEAKER_05]: She came out with a gun in her hand

[00:44:07] [SPEAKER_05]: and just shot her in the face.

[00:44:09] [SPEAKER_05]: It was brutal but also very moving.

[00:44:12] [SPEAKER_03]: Very, I cry.

[00:44:13] [SPEAKER_05]: I cry.

[00:44:14] [SPEAKER_05]: I cried for days.

[00:44:16] [SPEAKER_03]: And yeah, I'm sure there must have been other birth scenes

[00:44:19] [SPEAKER_03]: that I'm not remembering

[00:44:20] [SPEAKER_03]: but none where the person was infected

[00:44:23] [SPEAKER_03]: as far as I can remember.

[00:44:25] [SPEAKER_05]: No, I don't think so.

[00:44:27] [SPEAKER_05]: Also, I mean, one thing I will say is

[00:44:29] [SPEAKER_05]: Lily didn't look seven months pregnant.

[00:44:31] [SPEAKER_05]: Like that really surprised me.

[00:44:32] [SPEAKER_05]: I thought we were going to see her like in the convent

[00:44:34] [SPEAKER_05]: giving birth and like dying in childbirth

[00:44:36] [SPEAKER_05]: but fair play.

[00:44:38] [SPEAKER_05]: Maybe she just hit it really well.

[00:44:40] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:44:41] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:44:41] [SPEAKER_03]: And so that's when I think,

[00:44:44] [SPEAKER_03]: so she's, they've tied her down

[00:44:46] [SPEAKER_03]: and she's thrashing about

[00:44:48] [SPEAKER_03]: and they got the baby out

[00:44:50] [SPEAKER_03]: and Isabelle I think is taking the baby out

[00:44:54] [SPEAKER_03]: and that's when the sister,

[00:44:55] [SPEAKER_03]: the bed, the priest is holding up his cross

[00:44:58] [SPEAKER_03]: and presumably in French saying

[00:45:01] [SPEAKER_03]: religious phrases, biblical phrases.

[00:45:03] [SPEAKER_05]: Obesity image when they turn around

[00:45:06] [SPEAKER_05]: and she's like,

[00:45:08] [SPEAKER_05]: I just like, I don't know.

[00:45:09] [SPEAKER_05]: I think they cleaned it up a bit.

[00:45:11] [SPEAKER_05]: I imagine there would have been a lot more blood

[00:45:12] [SPEAKER_05]: and that her guts would essentially have been like

[00:45:14] [SPEAKER_05]: out on the bed but that image

[00:45:17] [SPEAKER_05]: and when I'm glad they're so cool

[00:45:18] [SPEAKER_05]: when they were holding Laurent

[00:45:20] [SPEAKER_05]: and he was crying and her

[00:45:24] [SPEAKER_05]: zombie noises kind of matched

[00:45:25] [SPEAKER_05]: in pitch, the crying and the growling.

[00:45:28] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, that was brilliant.

[00:45:29] [SPEAKER_05]: I really liked that.

[00:45:31] [SPEAKER_03]: I didn't get that.

[00:45:32] [SPEAKER_03]: I gotta go back again.

[00:45:33] [SPEAKER_05]: It's just hers were quite high for a zombie

[00:45:36] [SPEAKER_05]: and they just, they kind of crossed over

[00:45:38] [SPEAKER_05]: and I was like, oh that's excellent.

[00:45:39] [SPEAKER_05]: Really enjoy.

[00:45:40] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh my God.

[00:45:41] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I feel, I'm starting to feel guilty

[00:45:43] [SPEAKER_03]: for laughing at this stuff.

[00:45:45] [SPEAKER_03]: It's pretty gruesome.

[00:45:46] [SPEAKER_05]: I know some of it is,

[00:45:47] [SPEAKER_05]: I mean if you don't laugh you'll cry, you know?

[00:45:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:45:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Just like.

[00:45:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:45:53] [SPEAKER_03]: But it was a great, I mean,

[00:45:55] [SPEAKER_03]: sequence as gruesome as it was.

[00:45:58] [SPEAKER_03]: It was pretty crazy.

[00:46:01] [SPEAKER_03]: It does make me wonder why

[00:46:02] [SPEAKER_03]: Isabelle doesn't tell Laurent

[00:46:04] [SPEAKER_03]: at least just that he's,

[00:46:06] [SPEAKER_03]: she's his aunt.

[00:46:07] [SPEAKER_03]: Why keep that a secret?

[00:46:09] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.

[00:46:10] [SPEAKER_05]: It's strange that it's very kind of

[00:46:14] [SPEAKER_05]: children's lit special orphan stuff

[00:46:16] [SPEAKER_05]: like I don't know your Harry Potter

[00:46:19] [SPEAKER_05]: and your Charlie, no Charlie Bucket

[00:46:20] [SPEAKER_05]: wasn't an orphan, he had his family

[00:46:21] [SPEAKER_05]: but it's very that kind of like.

[00:46:23] [SPEAKER_02]: Luke Skywalker even.

[00:46:24] [SPEAKER_05]: Yes, Luke Skywalker that kind of,

[00:46:26] [SPEAKER_05]: I think Frodo Baggins is an orphan

[00:46:27] [SPEAKER_05]: maybe as well.

[00:46:28] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, there's a look,

[00:46:29] [SPEAKER_05]: it's kind of a trope

[00:46:31] [SPEAKER_05]: but it feels weird when she's right there

[00:46:33] [SPEAKER_05]: and yeah, really strange.

[00:46:35] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I can understand not wanting to tell her

[00:46:37] [SPEAKER_03]: about his mother

[00:46:40] [SPEAKER_03]: that you were born from a zombie

[00:46:41] [SPEAKER_03]: but why not just say I'm your aunt

[00:46:43] [SPEAKER_03]: and your mother died

[00:46:45] [SPEAKER_03]: and your father went into the French

[00:46:47] [SPEAKER_03]: foreign legion or whatever.

[00:46:48] [SPEAKER_03]: Your father was asterisk.

[00:46:50] [SPEAKER_05]: The Viking next question.

[00:46:52] [SPEAKER_03]: All right, what's next?

[00:46:55] [SPEAKER_05]: I guess some random

[00:46:58] [SPEAKER_05]: thoughts about the child

[00:47:00] [SPEAKER_05]: colony.

[00:47:02] [SPEAKER_05]: I did wonder if Darryl would be having

[00:47:04] [SPEAKER_05]: like major PTSD about creepy children

[00:47:08] [SPEAKER_05]: torturing him.

[00:47:09] [SPEAKER_05]: Like I was like, we remarkably chill

[00:47:11] [SPEAKER_02]: about walking into this.

[00:47:12] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, he's like, oh, this is nice.

[00:47:14] [SPEAKER_05]: They seem nice.

[00:47:16] [SPEAKER_05]: I thought it was sweet that

[00:47:17] [SPEAKER_05]: Darryl is asking us about like,

[00:47:19] [SPEAKER_05]: what does that say when they get there?

[00:47:21] [SPEAKER_05]: Trying to figure out what kind of

[00:47:22] [SPEAKER_05]: building is that they're going into.

[00:47:24] [SPEAKER_05]: The kids reminded me the most

[00:47:26] [SPEAKER_05]: of the Lost Boys in Hook,

[00:47:28] [SPEAKER_05]: the Robin Williams film from the early 90s

[00:47:30] [SPEAKER_05]: which is ironic because

[00:47:33] [SPEAKER_05]: you know, they watch Mork & Mindy later

[00:47:35] [SPEAKER_05]: but the kind of woofing and howling

[00:47:37] [SPEAKER_05]: was very, I don't know,

[00:47:39] [SPEAKER_05]: I quite liked it.

[00:47:41] [SPEAKER_05]: I also learned that the French word for

[00:47:43] [SPEAKER_05]: none or one of the French words for none

[00:47:45] [SPEAKER_05]: is literally like good sister

[00:47:47] [SPEAKER_05]: Bonsoir, which I was like, oh,

[00:47:48] [SPEAKER_05]: you learn anything every day.

[00:47:51] [SPEAKER_05]: I thought the actress who played,

[00:47:53] [SPEAKER_05]: the actor who played Lou was really cool.

[00:47:55] [SPEAKER_05]: I thought she actually carried scenes

[00:47:56] [SPEAKER_05]: very well.

[00:47:57] [SPEAKER_05]: I think whoever

[00:47:59] [SPEAKER_05]: writes this show

[00:48:01] [SPEAKER_05]: either really hates Americans

[00:48:03] [SPEAKER_05]: or is a very self-conscious American

[00:48:05] [SPEAKER_05]: because I did like the exchange where they're like,

[00:48:07] [SPEAKER_05]: after all this time he has not learned English.

[00:48:09] [SPEAKER_05]: No, he has not learned French and they're like,

[00:48:10] [SPEAKER_05]: oh, Americans.

[00:48:11] [SPEAKER_05]: And I'm like, oh.

[00:48:13] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, there's a slight anti-American sentiment

[00:48:17] [SPEAKER_03]: but

[00:48:18] [SPEAKER_03]: that is an accurate

[00:48:21] [SPEAKER_03]: in general.

[00:48:22] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean stereotypes are stereotypes for a reason

[00:48:24] [SPEAKER_03]: and it's kind of funny and there is that

[00:48:26] [SPEAKER_03]: sentiment sometimes in Europe and I

[00:48:28] [SPEAKER_03]: didn't take offense to it. I thought it was

[00:48:30] [SPEAKER_03]: really funny and cute.

[00:48:32] [SPEAKER_03]: I did however take offense a little bit,

[00:48:34] [SPEAKER_03]: not quite but that guy

[00:48:36] [SPEAKER_03]: that Texas guy was just like a caricature

[00:48:39] [SPEAKER_03]: to the max.

[00:48:41] [SPEAKER_05]: What the fuck was that about?

[00:48:42] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm like also that actor,

[00:48:44] [SPEAKER_05]: Irish.

[00:48:46] [SPEAKER_05]: I thought his accent was a bit dodged

[00:48:48] [SPEAKER_05]: and I was like, oh.

[00:48:49] [SPEAKER_03]: That kind of makes sense because then you get someone who's not actually an American

[00:48:52] [SPEAKER_03]: and go, oh I can do American.

[00:48:53] [SPEAKER_03]: Just me.

[00:48:54] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, he was doing like I would say 80% acceptable

[00:48:58] [SPEAKER_05]: but then occasionally it went really off course

[00:49:00] [SPEAKER_05]: so I looked him up because he looked familiar.

[00:49:02] [SPEAKER_03]: Well when the zombies start swarming on him

[00:49:03] [SPEAKER_03]: and he goes, I'm an American.

[00:49:05] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm like, really? Come on.

[00:49:06] [SPEAKER_03]: I've been for 12 years too.

[00:49:09] [SPEAKER_03]: You think he would have sort of

[00:49:10] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean he's at 12 years later

[00:49:13] [SPEAKER_03]: he's still thinking that America is fine

[00:49:15] [SPEAKER_03]: and his wife and kids are there

[00:49:16] [SPEAKER_03]: and no one's come to help or anything?

[00:49:18] [SPEAKER_03]: It didn't make any sense.

[00:49:19] [SPEAKER_05]: Does that really confuse me?

[00:49:20] [SPEAKER_05]: If it'd been like two years in, I'd have been like okay.

[00:49:23] [SPEAKER_05]: Maybe but 12 years in

[00:49:25] [SPEAKER_05]: and you think he would have been a bit more

[00:49:29] [SPEAKER_05]: unhinged

[00:49:29] [SPEAKER_05]: than he was? I mean the American stuff was weird

[00:49:32] [SPEAKER_05]: but like you saw what happened to Morgan

[00:49:34] [SPEAKER_05]: after like, I don't know

[00:49:36] [SPEAKER_05]: a year on his own in King County

[00:49:38] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah I mean you know what it is.

[00:49:42] [SPEAKER_05]: Said that the other day in the car

[00:49:44] [SPEAKER_05]: and Peter was like did we ever find out what it was

[00:49:46] [SPEAKER_05]: and I'm like, no really. We don't know what it is.

[00:49:49] [SPEAKER_05]: You know what it is.

[00:49:51] [SPEAKER_05]: Other stuff about the kids

[00:49:52] [SPEAKER_05]: I liked that they were

[00:49:54] [SPEAKER_05]: very polite and well

[00:49:56] [SPEAKER_05]: meaning children who seem to have good

[00:49:58] [SPEAKER_05]: chore charts

[00:50:00] [SPEAKER_05]: and discipline.

[00:50:02] [SPEAKER_05]: The scenery in the dinner table was nice

[00:50:04] [SPEAKER_05]: I think Darryl pitched

[00:50:06] [SPEAKER_05]: what he said really well for kids

[00:50:08] [SPEAKER_05]: and I liked his kind of slurping his soup

[00:50:11] [SPEAKER_05]: to kind of

[00:50:12] [SPEAKER_05]: make them laugh.

[00:50:14] [SPEAKER_05]: The Morgan Mindy stuff was very cute.

[00:50:16] [SPEAKER_05]: I quite like that.

[00:50:17] [SPEAKER_05]: I don't know why they would have a video of

[00:50:18] [SPEAKER_05]: Morgan Mindy but you know fair enough

[00:50:20] [SPEAKER_05]: I've written clearly not big in France

[00:50:22] [SPEAKER_05]: but it is in this school.

[00:50:24] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean they use it to practice their English

[00:50:26] [SPEAKER_03]: so maybe they did that before too.

[00:50:29] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah exactly

[00:50:31] [SPEAKER_05]: and yeah

[00:50:32] [SPEAKER_05]: I just thought I think that's about it.

[00:50:34] [SPEAKER_05]: I liked that they came in and swooped in

[00:50:36] [SPEAKER_05]: and kind of saved Darryl at the end

[00:50:38] [SPEAKER_05]: because I think he deserved that

[00:50:41] [SPEAKER_05]: those moments of

[00:50:42] [SPEAKER_05]: peril for like you say

[00:50:43] [SPEAKER_05]: being a bit reckless

[00:50:46] [SPEAKER_05]: with Lou and the children

[00:50:47] [SPEAKER_05]: and not necessarily doing right by them.

[00:50:50] [SPEAKER_05]: Hedgehog seemed cool

[00:50:51] [SPEAKER_05]: I mean their English was all amazing

[00:50:54] [SPEAKER_05]: so maybe there's a bit of department

[00:50:55] [SPEAKER_05]: suspension of disbelief there

[00:50:58] [SPEAKER_05]: but generally

[00:50:59] [SPEAKER_05]: I thought of all the like I say

[00:51:01] [SPEAKER_05]: of all the feral children colonies we've seen

[00:51:03] [SPEAKER_05]: this one was the best one

[00:51:05] [SPEAKER_05]: and I would probably

[00:51:08] [SPEAKER_05]: go and visit if I was in France in the apocalypse

[00:51:10] [SPEAKER_05]: did they seem nice? The soup sounds good

[00:51:12] [SPEAKER_05]: and I think they're now going to be better stocked

[00:51:14] [SPEAKER_05]: because I assume they're going to pillage the castle

[00:51:16] [SPEAKER_05]: and take stuff from there

[00:51:18] [SPEAKER_03]: and Darryl brought a bunch of supplies

[00:51:20] [SPEAKER_03]: back too but you're right there's probably way more

[00:51:22] [SPEAKER_03]: back there that they can go get.

[00:51:24] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah well there's definitely four tins of sardines

[00:51:26] [SPEAKER_05]: because the guy starts yelling about them

[00:51:28] [SPEAKER_05]: for some reason in one of the scenes

[00:51:29] [SPEAKER_05]: so good luck to them.

[00:51:31] [SPEAKER_03]: I like sardines

[00:51:33] [SPEAKER_03]: but yeah hopefully it's not one of those situations

[00:51:36] [SPEAKER_03]: like when you disrupt

[00:51:40] [SPEAKER_03]: local sort of power

[00:51:41] [SPEAKER_03]: in the area that then

[00:51:43] [SPEAKER_03]: just destabilizes everything maybe the fact that

[00:51:46] [SPEAKER_03]: this guy was there hoarding all this stuff

[00:51:48] [SPEAKER_03]: and it kind of

[00:51:50] [SPEAKER_03]: kept things peaceful around there

[00:51:52] [SPEAKER_03]: because people knew that they didn't want to deal

[00:51:54] [SPEAKER_03]: with him or something but now he's gone

[00:51:55] [SPEAKER_03]: you know so you can come in and

[00:51:57] [SPEAKER_03]: wreak havoc.

[00:51:59] [SPEAKER_05]: I didn't catch the name for him

[00:52:01] [SPEAKER_05]: um

[00:52:02] [SPEAKER_05]: the name like the dragon

[00:52:06] [SPEAKER_03]: it's uh

[00:52:07] [SPEAKER_03]: La Tarrasque

[00:52:09] [SPEAKER_03]: which is a mythical creature

[00:52:11] [SPEAKER_03]: from French folklore that was said

[00:52:13] [SPEAKER_03]: to live near the town of Tarrascon

[00:52:15] [SPEAKER_03]: in Provence according to the legend

[00:52:18] [SPEAKER_03]: that Tarrasque had a lion like head

[00:52:20] [SPEAKER_03]: a turtle like shell

[00:52:21] [SPEAKER_03]: six bear like claws a serpents tail

[00:52:23] [SPEAKER_03]: and could breathe poison

[00:52:25] [SPEAKER_03]: and there was another thing where one of the kids said

[00:52:28] [SPEAKER_03]: let's go hunt the something

[00:52:30] [SPEAKER_03]: and said another creature

[00:52:32] [SPEAKER_03]: and um

[00:52:34] [SPEAKER_03]: that was also some kind of

[00:52:35] [SPEAKER_03]: well it sounds more like an urban legend but

[00:52:38] [SPEAKER_03]: um says let's hunt

[00:52:40] [SPEAKER_03]: Le Bet du Jeveau d'In

[00:52:42] [SPEAKER_03]: which is a beast that reportedly

[00:52:44] [SPEAKER_03]: terrorized people in the south central

[00:52:45] [SPEAKER_03]: France in 1700s

[00:52:48] [SPEAKER_03]: so I guess it's just showing that these

[00:52:50] [SPEAKER_03]: kids have big imaginations.

[00:52:52] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, they it seemed like

[00:52:53] [SPEAKER_05]: a surprisingly healthy environment for

[00:52:56] [SPEAKER_05]: children. I know.

[00:52:57] [SPEAKER_05]: The apocalypse. Madame Dubois did a great job.

[00:53:00] [SPEAKER_05]: Um and it was sad because it did seem like she

[00:53:02] [SPEAKER_05]: was just dying of old age as well

[00:53:04] [SPEAKER_05]: there was something quite tragic about that

[00:53:06] [SPEAKER_05]: that like they describe her as well as

[00:53:08] [SPEAKER_05]: she said something so sweet it's like she is

[00:53:11] [SPEAKER_05]: she is our parents

[00:53:12] [SPEAKER_05]: she is our parents under nurse like

[00:53:15] [SPEAKER_05]: she's everything to them and I was just like

[00:53:17] [SPEAKER_05]: oh that feeling when you're young of losing

[00:53:20] [SPEAKER_05]: that parental

[00:53:23] [SPEAKER_05]: guidance figure is so tried

[00:53:25] [SPEAKER_05]: it's so hard it's so difficult and I

[00:53:27] [SPEAKER_05]: just like I really felt for them at that

[00:53:28] [SPEAKER_05]: point trying to like turn back the clock

[00:53:30] [SPEAKER_05]: and make her okay. I guess having

[00:53:33] [SPEAKER_03]: her having been sick for six months

[00:53:35] [SPEAKER_03]: was

[00:53:37] [SPEAKER_03]: they probably landed on that for a couple

[00:53:39] [SPEAKER_03]: reasons one so we would know that she

[00:53:40] [SPEAKER_03]: wasn't infected or you know she had

[00:53:43] [SPEAKER_03]: been bitten I guess is a better way to put it

[00:53:45] [SPEAKER_03]: um not that it matters because

[00:53:46] [SPEAKER_03]: when you die you become one anyway

[00:53:49] [SPEAKER_03]: so maybe that didn't matter but anyway

[00:53:50] [SPEAKER_03]: that these kids had had a chance to

[00:53:53] [SPEAKER_03]: be on their own for six months and they still

[00:53:55] [SPEAKER_03]: seemed okay so that makes it maybe a

[00:53:57] [SPEAKER_03]: little more okay for Darrell and

[00:53:58] [SPEAKER_03]: company to just leave them there

[00:54:01] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah exactly

[00:54:03] [SPEAKER_05]: exactly um yeah

[00:54:05] [SPEAKER_05]: so just the kids surprisingly

[00:54:07] [SPEAKER_05]: for old listeners I'm sure 10 out of 10

[00:54:09] [SPEAKER_05]: for the kids for me I thought they were great

[00:54:11] [SPEAKER_03]: so I have

[00:54:12] [SPEAKER_03]: a few notes about them

[00:54:15] [SPEAKER_03]: they live at Ecole Matranel

[00:54:17] [SPEAKER_03]: Simone Vale

[00:54:19] [SPEAKER_03]: which is Ecole Matranel just means

[00:54:21] [SPEAKER_03]: kindergarten Simone Vale

[00:54:22] [SPEAKER_03]: was a French magistrate, Holocaust survivor

[00:54:25] [SPEAKER_03]: and politician who served as health

[00:54:26] [SPEAKER_03]: minister in several governments and was

[00:54:28] [SPEAKER_03]: president of the European Parliament from

[00:54:30] [SPEAKER_03]: 1979 to 1982

[00:54:32] [SPEAKER_03]: the first woman to hold that office

[00:54:34] [SPEAKER_03]: as health minister she's best remembered

[00:54:36] [SPEAKER_03]: for advancing women's rights in France

[00:54:38] [SPEAKER_03]: in particular for the 1975 law

[00:54:41] [SPEAKER_03]: that legalized abortion today known as

[00:54:43] [SPEAKER_03]: the Vale Act for whatever

[00:54:44] [SPEAKER_05]: wow what a badass lady

[00:54:47] [SPEAKER_05]: and topical

[00:54:48] [SPEAKER_05]: given the childbirth featured in this episode

[00:54:51] [SPEAKER_03]: I know I know

[00:54:52] [SPEAKER_03]: they really focused on the name so I think

[00:54:54] [SPEAKER_03]: it was intentional

[00:54:56] [SPEAKER_03]: um

[00:54:57] [SPEAKER_03]: I liked that the girl Lou you know Lou

[00:55:00] [SPEAKER_03]: the leader made Isabelle and Sylvie

[00:55:02] [SPEAKER_03]: recite a prayer to prove

[00:55:04] [SPEAKER_03]: there were nuns that was really smart

[00:55:06] [SPEAKER_05]: thinking on the spot and they did it they were like

[00:55:08] [SPEAKER_05]: yes I will do this right now

[00:55:09] [SPEAKER_03]: yep and then they immediately lied and said Darrell was

[00:55:12] [SPEAKER_03]: a priest

[00:55:14] [SPEAKER_05]: the least convincing lie in the world

[00:55:16] [SPEAKER_05]: I mean

[00:55:17] [SPEAKER_03]: to me because Lou later on

[00:55:20] [SPEAKER_03]: as they're walking to the castle

[00:55:21] [SPEAKER_03]: she's like you're not a priest and he goes

[00:55:24] [SPEAKER_03]: what tipped you off and I like that he didn't

[00:55:26] [SPEAKER_03]: try to pretend and they kind of smiled about it

[00:55:30] [SPEAKER_03]: or I don't think that's what he said

[00:55:31] [SPEAKER_03]: he said is it that obvious yeah

[00:55:33] [SPEAKER_03]: and I think

[00:55:35] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean

[00:55:36] [SPEAKER_03]: I guess just looking at him it's probably obvious

[00:55:39] [SPEAKER_03]: but I was thinking that prayer that he gave

[00:55:41] [SPEAKER_03]: it was very

[00:55:43] [SPEAKER_03]: like I said moving and seemed very sincere

[00:55:47] [SPEAKER_03]: but

[00:55:48] [SPEAKER_03]: a real priest would have something

[00:55:51] [SPEAKER_03]: more rote to say you know

[00:55:52] [SPEAKER_05]: I think that gave him a way I did wonder if Lou was

[00:55:56] [SPEAKER_05]: maybe

[00:55:57] [SPEAKER_05]: testing him

[00:55:59] [SPEAKER_03]: right yeah yeah I don't know I was like

[00:56:01] [SPEAKER_03]: but he kind of failed and passed because I think

[00:56:03] [SPEAKER_03]: she was like well you're not a priest but you seem

[00:56:05] [SPEAKER_03]: like a good guy

[00:56:07] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah exactly you seem fine

[00:56:08] [SPEAKER_03]: even though it turns out he was

[00:56:11] [SPEAKER_03]: potentially leading her to her death

[00:56:13] [SPEAKER_03]: but we talked about that already so

[00:56:16] [SPEAKER_03]: I

[00:56:16] [SPEAKER_03]: and then I just learned so there's 18 kids

[00:56:19] [SPEAKER_03]: they were dropped off at school

[00:56:20] [SPEAKER_03]: and their parents never came back to pick them up

[00:56:23] [SPEAKER_03]: which is really sad

[00:56:25] [SPEAKER_03]: and then they brought in orphans over time

[00:56:27] [SPEAKER_03]: which is why there are some younger kids

[00:56:29] [SPEAKER_03]: they hunt they grow food they fix

[00:56:31] [SPEAKER_03]: old clothes and they keep up their lessons

[00:56:34] [SPEAKER_03]: and

[00:56:34] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know I do find it a bit

[00:56:37] [SPEAKER_03]: department of suspension

[00:56:39] [SPEAKER_03]: of disbelief I guess because the teacher

[00:56:41] [SPEAKER_03]: was the one taking care of

[00:56:43] [SPEAKER_03]: them and she was older and said

[00:56:45] [SPEAKER_03]: in her ways maybe I could believe it and they just

[00:56:47] [SPEAKER_03]: wanted to keep up the comfort of a routine

[00:56:49] [SPEAKER_03]: but would they still put so much effort

[00:56:51] [SPEAKER_03]: into keeping up their English

[00:56:53] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if I believe that you know

[00:56:55] [SPEAKER_05]: hence how much more commending you watch

[00:56:57] [SPEAKER_05]: we don't know what else they're watching

[00:56:59] [SPEAKER_01]: I know

[00:57:01] [SPEAKER_03]: but yeah it gave me

[00:57:03] [SPEAKER_03]: party of five but I don't know if you ever saw that show with

[00:57:05] [SPEAKER_03]: them

[00:57:06] [SPEAKER_05]: I didn't actually that was the guy from lost

[00:57:08] [SPEAKER_03]: was in it right yeah and he was

[00:57:10] [SPEAKER_03]: the older brother of five

[00:57:11] [SPEAKER_03]: and their parents died and he had to take care of them

[00:57:15] [SPEAKER_03]: and I

[00:57:16] [SPEAKER_03]: one last thing I liked when

[00:57:17] [SPEAKER_03]: Isabelle said to Darrell I feel sorry

[00:57:19] [SPEAKER_03]: for them not to know what the world was like

[00:57:21] [SPEAKER_03]: before and he goes you can't miss what you

[00:57:23] [SPEAKER_03]: never had and I'm like yeah that's a very good point

[00:57:26] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah I mean you could see it on more commending

[00:57:27] [SPEAKER_03]: though and wish you had it

[00:57:28] [SPEAKER_05]: I know you watch more commending and be like this is

[00:57:31] [SPEAKER_05]: the life this is what I'm missing

[00:57:33] [SPEAKER_05]: like

[00:57:35] [SPEAKER_03]: so let's see I have

[00:57:39] [SPEAKER_03]: pretty much

[00:57:39] [SPEAKER_03]: one and a half more

[00:57:41] [SPEAKER_03]: points and then some notes do you have any more

[00:57:44] [SPEAKER_05]: I might be mostly no it's let's have a look

[00:57:46] [SPEAKER_05]: um

[00:57:48] [SPEAKER_05]: we can talk about the American guy like

[00:57:50] [SPEAKER_05]: that was that was bad shit

[00:57:51] [SPEAKER_05]: like this just bad shit

[00:57:53] [SPEAKER_05]: like I buddy my power

[00:57:55] [SPEAKER_05]: I literally if you told me

[00:57:57] [SPEAKER_05]: like someone

[00:57:59] [SPEAKER_05]: from Europe who'd never met an American

[00:58:02] [SPEAKER_05]: person and try it and decided to be like yeah

[00:58:04] [SPEAKER_05]: tracks um I don't know if

[00:58:06] [SPEAKER_05]: it was like an in joker's thing but yeah it was

[00:58:08] [SPEAKER_05]: just a bit like

[00:58:09] [SPEAKER_05]: a review I read of this episode was like

[00:58:12] [SPEAKER_05]: oh it's a shame he died because

[00:58:14] [SPEAKER_05]: that would have been a great foil for all these

[00:58:16] [SPEAKER_05]: people who are looking for an American dude

[00:58:19] [SPEAKER_05]: here's one that's not Darrell

[00:58:20] [SPEAKER_05]: but he he had a

[00:58:21] [SPEAKER_05]: fucking excellent death getting pulled

[00:58:24] [SPEAKER_05]: apart like while hanging

[00:58:26] [SPEAKER_05]: but the whole like I'm an American

[00:58:31] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm

[00:58:32] [SPEAKER_03]: and being there for 12 years and not

[00:58:34] [SPEAKER_03]: and still just being like these Europeans

[00:58:36] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm keeping them out but if

[00:58:38] [SPEAKER_03]: I find an American he's my friend

[00:58:40] [SPEAKER_03]: it's just doesn't seem believable

[00:58:42] [SPEAKER_03]: I feel like what they did was

[00:58:44] [SPEAKER_03]: they like okay we have all this stuff going on

[00:58:46] [SPEAKER_03]: with you know

[00:58:47] [SPEAKER_03]: Lawrence waking up to the truth

[00:58:50] [SPEAKER_03]: and learning about him and

[00:58:51] [SPEAKER_03]: showing the fall of Paris

[00:58:54] [SPEAKER_03]: that's so great and we just need a foil

[00:58:56] [SPEAKER_03]: for Darrell that he has to fight to get

[00:58:58] [SPEAKER_03]: this a horse and

[00:59:00] [SPEAKER_03]: so what are we going to do with him let's just make him

[00:59:02] [SPEAKER_03]: the stereotypical ugly American that'll be good

[00:59:04] [SPEAKER_03]: you know just not giving much more depth than that

[00:59:06] [SPEAKER_05]: it's interesting I think they're

[00:59:08] [SPEAKER_05]: being more free and easy with

[00:59:10] [SPEAKER_05]: different nationalities in this show

[00:59:12] [SPEAKER_05]: and I don't know if it's because Europe is

[00:59:14] [SPEAKER_05]: closer together like it wouldn't be unusual

[00:59:16] [SPEAKER_05]: for an English dude to be living in Paris it wouldn't

[00:59:18] [SPEAKER_05]: be unusual for people to be

[00:59:20] [SPEAKER_05]: visiting France on holiday whereas

[00:59:22] [SPEAKER_05]: I guess Georgia pre-walking dead

[00:59:24] [SPEAKER_05]: less likely I don't know

[00:59:26] [SPEAKER_05]: I remember Rick once

[00:59:27] [SPEAKER_05]: meets an Irish woman in the opener

[00:59:29] [SPEAKER_05]: of season four that's right creepy

[00:59:31] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm you McCall is British

[00:59:34] [SPEAKER_05]: but aside from that there's not really

[00:59:35] [SPEAKER_05]: any it makes sense

[00:59:37] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah it makes sense

[00:59:39] [SPEAKER_05]: but to be so aggressively

[00:59:43] [SPEAKER_05]: stereotypically

[00:59:43] [SPEAKER_05]: Texan slash American was

[00:59:45] [SPEAKER_05]: a bold swing and I just

[00:59:47] [SPEAKER_05]: don't know that it paid off just haven't been a creepy

[00:59:49] [SPEAKER_05]: French dude like I don't

[00:59:51] [SPEAKER_05]: like I don't understand what him being American

[00:59:53] [SPEAKER_05]: really added that's what I think

[00:59:56] [SPEAKER_03]: they just wanted to give him some kind of

[00:59:58] [SPEAKER_03]: a and also like

[01:00:00] [SPEAKER_03]: because to make it

[01:00:01] [SPEAKER_03]: he's greedy you know and that's the stereotype

[01:00:04] [SPEAKER_03]: to and he doesn't

[01:00:05] [SPEAKER_03]: trust anybody around him to try

[01:00:08] [SPEAKER_03]: to help them because he only cares about himself

[01:00:10] [SPEAKER_03]: and he's not among his own kind

[01:00:12] [SPEAKER_03]: and all this you know it's all wrapped up

[01:00:14] [SPEAKER_03]: into this stereotypical

[01:00:16] [SPEAKER_03]: package yeah

[01:00:18] [SPEAKER_05]: I am

[01:00:20] [SPEAKER_05]: do think that

[01:00:21] [SPEAKER_05]: the American guy walked the kid

[01:00:24] [SPEAKER_05]: into the moat because

[01:00:26] [SPEAKER_05]: when hedgehog comes out

[01:00:28] [SPEAKER_05]: and

[01:00:29] [SPEAKER_05]: he kind of says he really wants to kill the American

[01:00:32] [SPEAKER_05]: guy the American guys like I didn't put a hand on

[01:00:34] [SPEAKER_05]: you and he's like you told me you would shoot me

[01:00:36] [SPEAKER_05]: then he starts saying push him in the moat push him

[01:00:38] [SPEAKER_05]: in the moat and I'm like why why that and then

[01:00:40] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm like oh I wonder if he pushed

[01:00:42] [SPEAKER_05]: the other guy into the moat and that's why

[01:00:44] [SPEAKER_05]: he's down there having been bitten which is

[01:00:46] [SPEAKER_03]: why would he keep that kid that's what I don't

[01:00:48] [SPEAKER_05]: get I don't know

[01:00:50] [SPEAKER_03]: bargaining power worth thinking

[01:00:52] [SPEAKER_03]: too much about yeah that's the thing where I'm like

[01:00:54] [SPEAKER_03]: slave

[01:00:56] [SPEAKER_03]: but so I did like when

[01:00:58] [SPEAKER_03]: Darrell chained him to the cart

[01:01:00] [SPEAKER_03]: and that he'd packed all this stuff in

[01:01:02] [SPEAKER_03]: and then um and I'm

[01:01:03] [SPEAKER_03]: what was Darrell gonna do with him

[01:01:07] [SPEAKER_03]: like

[01:01:08] [SPEAKER_05]: right I think Darrell just shooting

[01:01:10] [SPEAKER_03]: what is the point of keeping him alive

[01:01:11] [SPEAKER_03]: but then the side of the cart falls off in a bunch of I guess

[01:01:14] [SPEAKER_03]: fuel canisters or something fall over

[01:01:16] [SPEAKER_03]: into the moat and the guy goes ha ha ha

[01:01:19] [SPEAKER_03]: which I thought was hilarious

[01:01:22] [SPEAKER_03]: and then

[01:01:23] [SPEAKER_03]: he and he goes

[01:01:24] [SPEAKER_03]: for the gun and he and Darrell end up falling over

[01:01:27] [SPEAKER_03]: and

[01:01:28] [SPEAKER_03]: Darrell's in the moat and the guy's hanging by his chain

[01:01:31] [SPEAKER_03]: going I'm an American

[01:01:33] [SPEAKER_05]: imagine if the zombies had been like oh

[01:01:35] [SPEAKER_05]: sorry man I didn't realize you're an American

[01:01:37] [SPEAKER_05]: oh my god won't bite you that's cool

[01:01:39] [SPEAKER_05]: we're over this way like

[01:01:40] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean what

[01:01:41] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean I'm glad we got a castle

[01:01:44] [SPEAKER_03]: and a zombie mode and some flail action

[01:01:46] [SPEAKER_05]: in the zombie mode oh the set was great

[01:01:48] [SPEAKER_05]: I loved all that I was like that's really cool

[01:01:50] [SPEAKER_03]: eating into this guy's guts like a Romero

[01:01:53] [SPEAKER_03]: movie which is gross they plucked his feathers

[01:01:55] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah and

[01:01:57] [SPEAKER_03]: and then but then Darrell shoots the fuel

[01:01:59] [SPEAKER_03]: canister and there's an explosion

[01:02:01] [SPEAKER_03]: that somehow stuns the zombies

[01:02:02] [SPEAKER_03]: but doesn't hurt Darrell at all

[01:02:05] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah that's also

[01:02:06] [SPEAKER_03]: the kids throw the rope over and he was

[01:02:08] [SPEAKER_03]: wasn't Darrell shot like last week but he's like

[01:02:11] [SPEAKER_03]: he's holding on to that rope and being pulled up

[01:02:13] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah he's fine he's fine he's fine

[01:02:15] [SPEAKER_03]: like the whole action sequence

[01:02:17] [SPEAKER_03]: there was was fine it was good

[01:02:19] [SPEAKER_03]: it was probably

[01:02:21] [SPEAKER_03]: right up there with most action

[01:02:23] [SPEAKER_03]: sequences on these shows but

[01:02:25] [SPEAKER_03]: it was probably my the least

[01:02:27] [SPEAKER_03]: interesting part of the episode to me even though I liked it

[01:02:29] [SPEAKER_05]: I enjoyed the horse

[01:02:31] [SPEAKER_05]: pooling the rope I thought that was quite cool

[01:02:33] [SPEAKER_05]: I was like a literal horse power but yeah

[01:02:35] [SPEAKER_05]: it was it was not the strongest

[01:02:37] [SPEAKER_05]: point of the episode I did love the

[01:02:39] [SPEAKER_05]: gray color palette with the dark red blood

[01:02:41] [SPEAKER_05]: so the buildings are all quite white

[01:02:43] [SPEAKER_05]: and stone and when they're ripping

[01:02:45] [SPEAKER_05]: the American guy up I don't know if you knew he was American

[01:02:47] [SPEAKER_05]: he didn't mention much and

[01:02:49] [SPEAKER_05]: I liked the dark blood color

[01:02:51] [SPEAKER_05]: against the black and white I thought that was really cool

[01:02:53] [SPEAKER_05]: I like that

[01:02:55] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah yeah yeah the show

[01:02:57] [SPEAKER_03]: looks really good

[01:02:59] [SPEAKER_03]: all right I want to talk about the Morkin Mindy

[01:03:01] [SPEAKER_03]: thing a little bit

[01:03:02] [SPEAKER_05]: okay I don't know much about Morkin Mindy because

[01:03:05] [SPEAKER_05]: honestly not a big thing in Europe so

[01:03:07] [SPEAKER_03]: oh yeah I'm all ears

[01:03:08] [SPEAKER_03]: well they're sitting down to watch a show and Darrell's like what's this

[01:03:11] [SPEAKER_03]: and the kids like you'll see you'll see

[01:03:13] [SPEAKER_03]: and then you hear Nanoo Nanoo

[01:03:14] [SPEAKER_03]: and Darrell and me too

[01:03:16] [SPEAKER_03]: were like no way what

[01:03:19] [SPEAKER_03]: Morkin Mindy because

[01:03:20] [SPEAKER_03]: this is

[01:03:22] [SPEAKER_03]: Robin Williams

[01:03:24] [SPEAKER_03]: he the first time I ever saw him

[01:03:27] [SPEAKER_03]: he had a

[01:03:28] [SPEAKER_03]: guest spot on the show Happy Days

[01:03:30] [SPEAKER_03]: with Ron Howard

[01:03:32] [SPEAKER_03]: oh really? yeah and it was as Mork

[01:03:34] [SPEAKER_03]: this alien character

[01:03:36] [SPEAKER_03]: because it was late enough in that series where they were bringing in aliens

[01:03:40] [SPEAKER_05]: so was Morkin Mindy a spin-off?

[01:03:43] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah kind of

[01:03:44] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean he was only in one episode but yes

[01:03:46] [SPEAKER_03]: he like you know was up against Fonzie

[01:03:49] [SPEAKER_05]: oh that's so funny

[01:03:50] [SPEAKER_03]: and so then Morkin Mindy came out

[01:03:53] [SPEAKER_03]: and it was a huge hit here

[01:03:54] [SPEAKER_03]: and it was because just because Robin Williams

[01:03:56] [SPEAKER_03]: was so crazy you know all he did was improv

[01:03:58] [SPEAKER_03]: his way through that show

[01:04:00] [SPEAKER_05]: oh he was so funny it wasn't me

[01:04:01] [SPEAKER_03]: the show's craziness yeah and I loved it

[01:04:03] [SPEAKER_03]: I've seen every episode of that show so it was a pleasure to see that

[01:04:08] [SPEAKER_03]: no way

[01:04:09] [SPEAKER_03]: Ben Beck who

[01:04:11] [SPEAKER_03]: co-hosted

[01:04:12] [SPEAKER_03]: The Last of Us With Us and hosted Dead City

[01:04:15] [SPEAKER_03]: has his Will Helm podcast

[01:04:17] [SPEAKER_03]: where he covers different pop culture

[01:04:19] [SPEAKER_03]: subjects and he interviews people

[01:04:20] [SPEAKER_03]: and he and I did top 5 Robin Williams

[01:04:23] [SPEAKER_03]: movies just recently

[01:04:25] [SPEAKER_03]: so I would heavily recommend

[01:04:27] [SPEAKER_03]: checking that out it was really fun

[01:04:28] [SPEAKER_03]: Robin Williams is one of Ben's favorites so it was kind of a big deal

[01:04:31] [SPEAKER_03]: I've been planning to do it for a long time

[01:04:33] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah it's ironic because

[01:04:36] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah the kit like

[01:04:37] [SPEAKER_05]: Hoot is one of my favorites and Robin Williams

[01:04:39] [SPEAKER_05]: has the lead role in Hoot

[01:04:41] [SPEAKER_05]: and yeah the whole set up with the kids

[01:04:43] [SPEAKER_05]: really reminded me of that as well

[01:04:45] [SPEAKER_05]: it's a nice kind of Robin Williams link

[01:04:47] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah I was really fun to do that

[01:04:49] [SPEAKER_03]: I went back and watched like 5 or 6

[01:04:52] [SPEAKER_03]: Robin Williams movies again

[01:04:53] [SPEAKER_03]: and that was a pleasure

[01:04:55] [SPEAKER_03]: but so he

[01:04:57] [SPEAKER_03]: says that he used to watch it with Murl

[01:04:59] [SPEAKER_03]: because I would have believed it

[01:05:01] [SPEAKER_03]: if you'd told me that Daryl just didn't have

[01:05:03] [SPEAKER_03]: a TV in his house you know

[01:05:04] [SPEAKER_03]: so it was kind of cool actually

[01:05:06] [SPEAKER_03]: to think of little

[01:05:08] [SPEAKER_03]: kids Murl and Daryl

[01:05:10] [SPEAKER_03]: sitting there watching Mork and Mindy together you know

[01:05:13] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah

[01:05:15] [SPEAKER_03]: that was kind of fun

[01:05:16] [SPEAKER_05]: and he says Murl really liked it doesn't he

[01:05:18] [SPEAKER_05]: it was like his scapeism or something

[01:05:20] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah

[01:05:21] [SPEAKER_05]: and he grew up to play Yondu so

[01:05:24] [SPEAKER_05]: you know aliens

[01:05:26] [SPEAKER_03]: that's right it really had an impact on him

[01:05:29] [SPEAKER_03]: so all I have left

[01:05:31] [SPEAKER_03]: are notes what about you

[01:05:32] [SPEAKER_03]: what are your notes?

[01:05:33] [SPEAKER_05]: I am the same I think

[01:05:35] [SPEAKER_05]: oh actually one thing neither of us have talked about

[01:05:38] [SPEAKER_05]: we had a scene with

[01:05:40] [SPEAKER_05]: the main antagonist wandering

[01:05:42] [SPEAKER_05]: around the abbey

[01:05:43] [SPEAKER_05]: and it really pissed me off because

[01:05:46] [SPEAKER_05]: he finds Daryl's stupid audio

[01:05:48] [SPEAKER_05]: journal which tells him everything he needs to know

[01:05:50] [SPEAKER_05]: there's like journals and journals about

[01:05:52] [SPEAKER_05]: Laurent and there's a little map

[01:05:53] [SPEAKER_05]: on the wall I was just like well that's

[01:05:56] [SPEAKER_05]: them fuck then isn't it

[01:05:58] [SPEAKER_05]: just this like

[01:05:59] [SPEAKER_05]: dumbass

[01:05:59] [SPEAKER_05]: so that made me laugh that that had happened

[01:06:03] [SPEAKER_03]: to be fair I've started many journals and not

[01:06:05] [SPEAKER_03]: you know kept up with it so

[01:06:06] [SPEAKER_05]: I can understand true it might just be the first couple of pages

[01:06:09] [SPEAKER_05]: and then you know they're like

[01:06:11] [SPEAKER_05]: we'll just have to figure out the rest

[01:06:12] [SPEAKER_03]: I would imagine just about everyone who saw

[01:06:15] [SPEAKER_03]: that was like why'd they leave

[01:06:17] [SPEAKER_03]: all that information there

[01:06:19] [SPEAKER_05]: because they didn't leave in a hurry either

[01:06:21] [SPEAKER_05]: like they had a night

[01:06:22] [SPEAKER_05]: they were like yeah that's just hit me

[01:06:25] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm like they couldn't even rush out

[01:06:27] [SPEAKER_05]: they could have packed

[01:06:29] [SPEAKER_03]: like oh my god I guess they had two maps

[01:06:31] [SPEAKER_03]: because they have another map

[01:06:32] [SPEAKER_03]: should we take the big map now nah I gotta

[01:06:34] [SPEAKER_05]: copy and they also don't even think that guy's dead

[01:06:37] [SPEAKER_05]: they're like oh he ran away oh well

[01:06:38] [SPEAKER_05]: let's hit the road like lads

[01:06:41] [SPEAKER_05]: come on

[01:06:41] [SPEAKER_05]: I think that I think we covered everything

[01:06:44] [SPEAKER_05]: it's in the things that we

[01:06:47] [SPEAKER_05]: disgust

[01:06:48] [SPEAKER_05]: oh the castle was no

[01:06:50] [SPEAKER_05]: that's not really an interesting point we're saying

[01:06:52] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm just talking I was gonna say the image of the castle

[01:06:55] [SPEAKER_05]: looked very cool it reminded me of the

[01:06:57] [SPEAKER_05]: wizards house in Stardew valley which is a

[01:06:59] [SPEAKER_05]: video game I play a lot

[01:07:00] [SPEAKER_05]: or the castle from the holy grail and I thought

[01:07:03] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah it's great

[01:07:03] [SPEAKER_05]: the moat of zombies was very cool as well

[01:07:08] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah of course you gotta do it

[01:07:10] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah why not I mean it's a great

[01:07:13] [SPEAKER_05]: protection

[01:07:16] [SPEAKER_05]: that's it for me

[01:07:17] [SPEAKER_03]: alright let's see

[01:07:19] [SPEAKER_03]: I thought it was funny

[01:07:22] [SPEAKER_03]: when Daryl said to Laurent

[01:07:23] [SPEAKER_03]: you know no one ever called me special when I

[01:07:25] [SPEAKER_03]: was a kid not in a good way anyway

[01:07:28] [SPEAKER_05]: also when he's like

[01:07:30] [SPEAKER_05]: talking about like

[01:07:31] [SPEAKER_05]: what kind of death would you like to have

[01:07:33] [SPEAKER_05]: and he's like a quiet one and I'm like this is like

[01:07:35] [SPEAKER_05]: such parent road trip vibes

[01:07:37] [SPEAKER_05]: of like oh cool

[01:07:38] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah so funny it's a great question

[01:07:41] [SPEAKER_03]: from a kid

[01:07:43] [SPEAKER_03]: I want to hear what Daryl would actually

[01:07:46] [SPEAKER_03]: say to that though

[01:07:48] [SPEAKER_03]: so I

[01:07:49] [SPEAKER_03]: there was a scene in the flashback

[01:07:51] [SPEAKER_03]: when Isabel was at

[01:07:53] [SPEAKER_03]: her flat with Lily

[01:07:55] [SPEAKER_03]: and there's this little

[01:07:57] [SPEAKER_03]: neighbor girl and

[01:07:58] [SPEAKER_03]: she tells her to go to her apartment and her mom

[01:08:01] [SPEAKER_03]: will look after her I wondered why they put that

[01:08:03] [SPEAKER_03]: in there just made me feel like

[01:08:05] [SPEAKER_03]: oh I hope that girl is okay

[01:08:06] [SPEAKER_03]: but I guess it was the right thing to say because her mom

[01:08:09] [SPEAKER_03]: was there

[01:08:11] [SPEAKER_05]: it was I think it was just a little bit of a heart

[01:08:13] [SPEAKER_05]: wrenching that kids probably the age

[01:08:15] [SPEAKER_05]: that the kids were seeing now

[01:08:17] [SPEAKER_05]: are and

[01:08:19] [SPEAKER_05]: I think just for the

[01:08:20] [SPEAKER_05]: I think it was one of those things that pleased to the audience

[01:08:22] [SPEAKER_05]: being like no don't

[01:08:24] [SPEAKER_05]: do that that's awful bring her

[01:08:26] [SPEAKER_03]: back like yeah take her

[01:08:28] [SPEAKER_03]: with you take her on as your own

[01:08:30] [SPEAKER_05]: I did laugh that it every time I see

[01:08:32] [SPEAKER_05]: a French apartment in a TV show whether

[01:08:34] [SPEAKER_05]: it's a British show an American show whatever

[01:08:36] [SPEAKER_05]: they're always gorgeous like they're always

[01:08:38] [SPEAKER_05]: these beautiful like

[01:08:41] [SPEAKER_05]: ancient things with

[01:08:42] [SPEAKER_05]: cornicing and things like that and I've never

[01:08:44] [SPEAKER_05]: I will never really stayed in like hotels

[01:08:47] [SPEAKER_05]: when I've been to Paris but I am like is everyone's apartment

[01:08:49] [SPEAKER_05]: like that from what I understand

[01:08:50] [SPEAKER_05]: Paris is like New York like apartments

[01:08:53] [SPEAKER_05]: are tiny and expensive

[01:08:55] [SPEAKER_03]: I've stayed in Airbnb's

[01:08:57] [SPEAKER_03]: apartments and they're not

[01:08:59] [SPEAKER_03]: that nice but they're nicer than

[01:09:01] [SPEAKER_03]: the ones I've stayed in here

[01:09:03] [SPEAKER_03]: just as far as because they're old

[01:09:05] [SPEAKER_03]: buildings so they put more craftsmanship

[01:09:07] [SPEAKER_03]: into them you know taller ceiling

[01:09:09] [SPEAKER_03]: and stuff already yeah yeah

[01:09:10] [SPEAKER_03]: and just that said when I lived in Vienna

[01:09:13] [SPEAKER_05]: like my apartment was pretty

[01:09:15] [SPEAKER_05]: old and nice but yeah it's just one of those things

[01:09:17] [SPEAKER_05]: I was looking at it and I was like oh man

[01:09:18] [SPEAKER_03]: that was great

[01:09:22] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't think we mentioned but I think it's

[01:09:24] [SPEAKER_03]: significant to that Laurent wanted

[01:09:26] [SPEAKER_03]: to stay with the kids at the end

[01:09:28] [SPEAKER_03]: it shows that they did end up getting

[01:09:30] [SPEAKER_03]: along but now that I've talked to you about it

[01:09:32] [SPEAKER_03]: it's also like hey these kids are the only ones

[01:09:34] [SPEAKER_03]: that will tell me the truth I trust them you know

[01:09:36] [SPEAKER_03]: I think that was a part of it too

[01:09:38] [SPEAKER_05]: I don't think he's ever had friends I think

[01:09:40] [SPEAKER_05]: he's had people looking out for him but he's

[01:09:42] [SPEAKER_05]: had a uniquely lonely

[01:09:45] [SPEAKER_05]: experience and to suddenly have

[01:09:46] [SPEAKER_05]: friends and then he told like right we're

[01:09:48] [SPEAKER_05]: going that's like a big loss that must be

[01:09:50] [SPEAKER_03]: like a big wrench and I'm like

[01:09:52] [SPEAKER_03]: okay well Isabel

[01:09:54] [SPEAKER_03]: she could have why would she not

[01:09:56] [SPEAKER_03]: just let him stay there

[01:09:58] [SPEAKER_03]: if it's because it's too dangerous then

[01:10:00] [SPEAKER_03]: what does it say about you just leaving all these other kids

[01:10:02] [SPEAKER_03]: by themselves then

[01:10:05] [SPEAKER_05]: she's just determined that he's

[01:10:06] [SPEAKER_05]: I don't know it's like she wants him to get into the best

[01:10:08] [SPEAKER_05]: school I don't know she's a pushy ant

[01:10:10] [SPEAKER_03]: and she told Sylvie this other one that we've

[01:10:13] [SPEAKER_03]: said is probably a red shirt

[01:10:15] [SPEAKER_03]: that you know they're going to find their purpose

[01:10:18] [SPEAKER_05]: up there that wasn't actually yes thank you

[01:10:21] [SPEAKER_05]: for bringing that up because that was a really

[01:10:22] [SPEAKER_05]: interesting conversation because Sylvie

[01:10:25] [SPEAKER_05]: we find out was waiting

[01:10:26] [SPEAKER_05]: for her parents to pick her up having

[01:10:29] [SPEAKER_05]: had a lesson with one of the sisters

[01:10:30] [SPEAKER_05]: and she's there when

[01:10:32] [SPEAKER_05]: Lily and Isabel sweep in

[01:10:34] [SPEAKER_05]: and clearly her parents never come to pick her up

[01:10:37] [SPEAKER_05]: and

[01:10:38] [SPEAKER_05]: she must be in that scene she looked about five or six

[01:10:41] [SPEAKER_05]: so she must have questions about who she is

[01:10:44] [SPEAKER_05]: and where she came from and I do wonder if she's

[01:10:46] [SPEAKER_05]: going to be the one who maybe

[01:10:47] [SPEAKER_05]: tells Laurent some things about his background

[01:10:50] [SPEAKER_05]: and because she's

[01:10:52] [SPEAKER_05]: looking for that kind of thing herself

[01:10:54] [SPEAKER_03]: but I mean I brought that up just because

[01:10:56] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah they had that conversation too like

[01:10:59] [SPEAKER_03]: maybe we'll we'll find our own

[01:11:00] [SPEAKER_03]: purpose but

[01:11:03] [SPEAKER_03]: if this is about

[01:11:05] [SPEAKER_03]: Isabel finding her purpose

[01:11:08] [SPEAKER_03]: versus

[01:11:09] [SPEAKER_03]: Isabel thinking that this kid is the

[01:11:11] [SPEAKER_03]: Messiah it starts to

[01:11:13] [SPEAKER_03]: have me asking questions like well how much

[01:11:15] [SPEAKER_03]: are you pushing this kid into this dangerous

[01:11:17] [SPEAKER_03]: situation

[01:11:19] [SPEAKER_03]: because it has something more to do

[01:11:21] [SPEAKER_03]: with yourself and your wants

[01:11:23] [SPEAKER_03]: you know yeah I don't know

[01:11:25] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm just always skeptical of

[01:11:27] [SPEAKER_03]: this whole adventure

[01:11:29] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah I think Isabel's done a lot of

[01:11:31] [SPEAKER_05]: um I don't know

[01:11:33] [SPEAKER_05]: it seems yeah it just seems like he's

[01:11:35] [SPEAKER_05]: lost her whole life

[01:11:37] [SPEAKER_05]: and it happened so suddenly and it was

[01:11:39] [SPEAKER_05]: just like

[01:11:40] [SPEAKER_05]: she's so shell shocked in those final scenes

[01:11:43] [SPEAKER_05]: like I love that she didn't like

[01:11:45] [SPEAKER_05]: keel over whaling or anything

[01:11:47] [SPEAKER_05]: she's literally just stunned and it's almost

[01:11:49] [SPEAKER_05]: the same as she was at the start

[01:11:51] [SPEAKER_05]: she's just silent and like

[01:11:53] [SPEAKER_05]: reeling from everything that's happened

[01:11:55] [SPEAKER_05]: and I thought that was so powerful

[01:11:57] [SPEAKER_05]: but just so sad because

[01:11:59] [SPEAKER_05]: she's lost everything and lost it so quickly

[01:12:01] [SPEAKER_05]: and then suddenly has this baby to look after

[01:12:04] [SPEAKER_05]: not just similar to Rick

[01:12:05] [SPEAKER_05]: when he gets presented with Judith in

[01:12:07] [SPEAKER_05]: season 3 where he kind of has lost it

[01:12:10] [SPEAKER_05]: all and then gained something only

[01:12:11] [SPEAKER_05]: she didn't even know there was a baby coming

[01:12:13] [SPEAKER_05]: um yeah

[01:12:16] [SPEAKER_05]: it's just it's a lot for her

[01:12:17] [SPEAKER_05]: it made me understand her character a little better

[01:12:19] [SPEAKER_05]: I think

[01:12:21] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah and then she really

[01:12:23] [SPEAKER_03]: throws herself into it and becomes

[01:12:25] [SPEAKER_03]: this nun and

[01:12:27] [SPEAKER_03]: starts believing in God

[01:12:30] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah but she still lies

[01:12:31] [SPEAKER_03]: a lot

[01:12:32] [SPEAKER_03]: I think she's still it's

[01:12:35] [SPEAKER_03]: complicated with her still which is good

[01:12:37] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah

[01:12:39] [SPEAKER_03]: Nottingun

[01:12:41] [SPEAKER_03]: and speaking of that

[01:12:43] [SPEAKER_03]: not really but in the bedroom Darrell offers

[01:12:45] [SPEAKER_03]: to sleep on the floor

[01:12:47] [SPEAKER_03]: and Isabelle says the bed is big enough

[01:12:49] [SPEAKER_03]: it's fine and

[01:12:51] [SPEAKER_03]: I like the bath scene and I like this scene too

[01:12:54] [SPEAKER_03]: because to me they're just

[01:12:55] [SPEAKER_03]: comfortable with each other and I don't think

[01:12:57] [SPEAKER_03]: it's sexual or romantic at all

[01:12:59] [SPEAKER_03]: and Darrell knows how to be friends with a woman

[01:13:01] [SPEAKER_03]: you know

[01:13:02] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah I don't think there's vibes there

[01:13:04] [SPEAKER_05]: it was very there's like a fan fiction

[01:13:07] [SPEAKER_05]: trope of like there was only one bed

[01:13:09] [SPEAKER_05]: that's where a lot of fan fiction goes

[01:13:11] [SPEAKER_05]: and yeah honestly I got no vibes

[01:13:13] [SPEAKER_05]: from that it was more just like shut up it's fine

[01:13:15] [SPEAKER_05]: and I was like okay that's nice that it's not going to

[01:13:17] [SPEAKER_05]: be a will they won't they sort of thing

[01:13:19] [SPEAKER_03]: and then they start having a conversation

[01:13:21] [SPEAKER_03]: you know

[01:13:22] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah it's weirdly

[01:13:25] [SPEAKER_05]: more intimate but in a nice way

[01:13:27] [SPEAKER_05]: because they're talking about stuff that's real which

[01:13:29] [SPEAKER_05]: I quite like

[01:13:30] [SPEAKER_03]: Me too

[01:13:32] [SPEAKER_03]: At one point Darrell said to somebody

[01:13:34] [SPEAKER_03]: we just need to get to the radio

[01:13:36] [SPEAKER_03]: and I was

[01:13:38] [SPEAKER_03]: I didn't know they were going to find a radio

[01:13:41] [SPEAKER_05]: There's a bit at the start

[01:13:41] [SPEAKER_05]: and I meant to go back and figure it out

[01:13:43] [SPEAKER_05]: at the start there's something about like

[01:13:45] [SPEAKER_05]: their off track but if they find this person

[01:13:48] [SPEAKER_05]: with the radio they'll be able to get some kind of help

[01:13:50] [SPEAKER_05]: that will help them get back on track or something

[01:13:52] [SPEAKER_05]: it's something to do with

[01:13:54] [SPEAKER_05]: or radioing before they get into

[01:13:56] [SPEAKER_05]: Paris or something like that so there's

[01:13:57] [SPEAKER_05]: a MacGuffin reason or just a reason

[01:14:00] [SPEAKER_05]: why they need to get to the radio

[01:14:01] [SPEAKER_05]: but it happens

[01:14:04] [SPEAKER_05]: it's in the scene right after

[01:14:06] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah and it happens right after the flashback

[01:14:09] [SPEAKER_05]: when I was like I want to be back in the flashback

[01:14:10] [SPEAKER_05]: so it wasn't really listening

[01:14:12] [SPEAKER_03]: Well he wanted to go to

[01:14:14] [SPEAKER_03]: Paris and she said no and it turns out

[01:14:16] [SPEAKER_03]: it's because

[01:14:17] [SPEAKER_03]: she's got bad memories of

[01:14:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Paris and would go to this other place

[01:14:22] [SPEAKER_03]: but yeah I guess there's a radio there and it's a stop

[01:14:24] [SPEAKER_03]: along the way maybe they can get

[01:14:26] [SPEAKER_03]: fresh supplies or something like that

[01:14:28] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know but their ultimate goal

[01:14:30] [SPEAKER_03]: is up on the north coast

[01:14:32] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, exactly

[01:14:33] [SPEAKER_03]: That's what he wants. Okay I have two more

[01:14:36] [SPEAKER_03]: notes. One

[01:14:38] [SPEAKER_03]: picturesque place we saw in

[01:14:40] [SPEAKER_03]: the first episode last week

[01:14:42] [SPEAKER_03]: shows him walking

[01:14:44] [SPEAKER_03]: on top of arches

[01:14:46] [SPEAKER_03]: over a river it's like a double decker

[01:14:48] [SPEAKER_03]: arches and I'm that

[01:14:50] [SPEAKER_03]: look familiar and when I

[01:14:51] [SPEAKER_03]: show this episode to Jenny she's like oh yeah

[01:14:54] [SPEAKER_03]: we went there

[01:14:55] [SPEAKER_03]: went to France, yeah it's called

[01:14:57] [SPEAKER_03]: Ponte de Gard it's a Roman aqueduct

[01:15:00] [SPEAKER_03]: from the

[01:15:01] [SPEAKER_03]: 1st century AD

[01:15:02] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh cool! And it was really cool

[01:15:06] [SPEAKER_05]: That's awesome

[01:15:07] [SPEAKER_03]: I just wanted to say that

[01:15:08] [SPEAKER_03]: and then last

[01:15:10] [SPEAKER_03]: in episode one because when I did rewatch it with

[01:15:13] [SPEAKER_03]: Jenny I noticed this when Codron

[01:15:15] [SPEAKER_03]: went to take Laurent

[01:15:17] [SPEAKER_03]: when he barged into the

[01:15:18] [SPEAKER_03]: Abbey and threatened to take Laurent

[01:15:20] [SPEAKER_03]: he said he'll make

[01:15:22] [SPEAKER_03]: a guerriere for Genet

[01:15:25] [SPEAKER_03]: a warrior for Genet

[01:15:27] [SPEAKER_03]: that Genet is the woman

[01:15:28] [SPEAKER_03]: at the end of the episode

[01:15:30] [SPEAKER_03]: so I think that means that Codron

[01:15:32] [SPEAKER_03]: works for Genet

[01:15:35] [SPEAKER_05]: Ahhhh okay

[01:15:36] [SPEAKER_05]: That makes sense, yeah I didn't

[01:15:39] [SPEAKER_05]: catch that at all. Okay so it's a bigger

[01:15:40] [SPEAKER_05]: she kind of runs the militia

[01:15:43] [SPEAKER_05]: Right, cool

[01:15:48] music

[01:16:02] [SPEAKER_03]: Alright we're back it's time for some news

[01:16:05] [SPEAKER_01]: du du du du du du du du du du du du du du du du du du

[01:16:07] [SPEAKER_03]: Infected news

[01:16:09] [SPEAKER_03]: One quick one

[01:16:11] [SPEAKER_03]: I guess Ride with Norman Reed is

[01:16:13] [SPEAKER_03]: still ongoing

[01:16:14] [SPEAKER_03]: I think it's a new season

[01:16:16] [SPEAKER_03]: now they've there are a couple episodes

[01:16:18] [SPEAKER_03]: in or something and this week it's

[01:16:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Norman Reedus and Josh Holloway

[01:16:21] [SPEAKER_03]: from Lost Sawyer

[01:16:23] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh no way

[01:16:25] [SPEAKER_05]: Okay I'm going to watch that

[01:16:27] [SPEAKER_03]: I know I might watch it too

[01:16:28] [SPEAKER_03]: I just saw a screen

[01:16:31] [SPEAKER_03]: cap of Josh with a big smile on his face

[01:16:33] [SPEAKER_05]: Fully thought you were going to see

[01:16:35] [SPEAKER_05]: Josh Hamilton but this came there

[01:16:38] [SPEAKER_03]: That would be pretty awesome too

[01:16:40] [SPEAKER_03]: Sorry

[01:16:41] [SPEAKER_03]: I love that

[01:16:42] [SPEAKER_03]: So I have another item here

[01:16:45] [SPEAKER_03]: that's kind of long but

[01:16:47] [SPEAKER_03]: I kind of love it

[01:16:48] [SPEAKER_03]: The Daily Beast had an article

[01:16:50] [SPEAKER_03]: entitled the most annoying children in the

[01:16:52] [SPEAKER_03]: Walking Dead universe colon ataxonomy

[01:16:56] HAHAHAHAHA

[01:16:57] [SPEAKER_03]: Written by Lucy Haney

[01:17:01] HAHAHAHAHA

[01:17:01] [SPEAKER_03]: Congratulations on getting published

[01:17:03] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah that was my PhD thesis

[01:17:05] [SPEAKER_05]: It was Annoying Kids

[01:17:07] [SPEAKER_05]: That was Laura Bradley

[01:17:09] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm just going to read some of it

[01:17:11] [SPEAKER_03]: I might start sort of summarizing

[01:17:13] [SPEAKER_03]: when I get later on but I'm going to read some

[01:17:15] [SPEAKER_03]: In the world of Walking Dead

[01:17:16] [SPEAKER_03]: they're simply everywhere

[01:17:17] [SPEAKER_03]: They reek, they're always moaning and groaning

[01:17:20] [SPEAKER_03]: and more often than not they're deadly

[01:17:22] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm not talking about the zombies

[01:17:23] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm talking about this franchise's endlessly awful kids

[01:17:27] [SPEAKER_03]: HAHAHAHAHA

[01:17:28] [SPEAKER_03]: The legends of the Walking Dead's obnoxious

[01:17:30] [SPEAKER_03]: sometimes truly messed up

[01:17:32] [SPEAKER_03]: children precede them

[01:17:33] [SPEAKER_03]: mostly through ranked lists

[01:17:35] [SPEAKER_03]: like every major kid on the Walking Dead

[01:17:37] [SPEAKER_03]: ranked from terrible to the worst

[01:17:41] HAHAHAHAHA

[01:17:42] [SPEAKER_03]: HAHAHAHAHA

[01:17:43] [SPEAKER_03]: From the very beginning we had Carl Grimes

[01:17:45] [SPEAKER_03]: who wanted nothing more than to be like

[01:17:47] [SPEAKER_03]: his father and spend his first several seasons

[01:17:49] [SPEAKER_03]: messing everything up instead

[01:17:51] [SPEAKER_03]: but as the series trudged on the kids got

[01:17:53] [SPEAKER_03]: more and more despicable

[01:17:54] [SPEAKER_03]: this is pretty harsh and I'm not saying I agree with it

[01:17:57] [SPEAKER_03]: I just think it's funny

[01:17:58] [SPEAKER_03]: At this point we've seen cowardly shriekers,

[01:18:00] [SPEAKER_03]: sullen teens and undead brats galore

[01:18:03] [SPEAKER_03]: enough to fill say a barn

[01:18:06] HAHAHAHAHA

[01:18:07] [SPEAKER_03]: Now the new spin-off

[01:18:09] [SPEAKER_03]: The Walking Dead Darryl Dixon has given us

[01:18:10] [SPEAKER_03]: a new desperately annoying child

[01:18:12] [SPEAKER_03]: quote, protagonist named Laurent

[01:18:14] [SPEAKER_03]: Much like HBO's Zombified hit the last

[01:18:17] [SPEAKER_03]: of us Darryl Dixon follows its

[01:18:18] [SPEAKER_03]: scruffy hero as he escorts a chosen

[01:18:20] [SPEAKER_03]: child to safety

[01:18:22] [SPEAKER_03]: Unfortunately for all of us the Rubik's Cube

[01:18:24] [SPEAKER_03]: toting prodigy Laurent is just as insufferable

[01:18:27] [SPEAKER_03]: as the rest of this universe's young progeny

[01:18:29] [SPEAKER_03]: but where exactly does he fit in

[01:18:31] [SPEAKER_03]: let's break these cantankerous kids into categories

[01:18:33] [SPEAKER_03]: and find out

[01:18:34] [SPEAKER_03]: so she's broken them into categories

[01:18:36] [SPEAKER_03]: The first category is the end time over-achievers

[01:18:39] [SPEAKER_03]: HAHAHA

[01:18:40] [SPEAKER_03]: These endlessly ambitious try-hards are some of

[01:18:43] [SPEAKER_03]: the most common young specimens in the

[01:18:44] [SPEAKER_03]: Walking Dead universe

[01:18:45] [SPEAKER_03]: In a way it's understandable, we all want to do our parts

[01:18:49] [SPEAKER_03]: to help scratch out an existence in the apocalypse

[01:18:51] [SPEAKER_03]: especially if our daddy happens to be like

[01:18:53] [SPEAKER_03]: the sheriff

[01:18:53] [SPEAKER_03]: Unfortunately for these would-be heroes they're usually prone to awful

[01:18:56] [SPEAKER_03]: decision making skills

[01:18:58] [SPEAKER_03]: Looking at you Carl Grimes

[01:18:59] [SPEAKER_03]: and delusions of grandeur

[01:19:01] [SPEAKER_03]: Hi Henry in the Kingdom

[01:19:02] [SPEAKER_03]: and also Iris Bennett of the Walking Dead world beyond

[01:19:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah Iris

[01:19:08] [SPEAKER_03]: Eventually these characters also tend to fall

[01:19:10] [SPEAKER_03]: into some extremely ill advised romances

[01:19:12] [SPEAKER_03]: Henry is definitely guilty of this

[01:19:14] [SPEAKER_03]: being that he did Lydia when doing so

[01:19:16] [SPEAKER_03]: was still a huge risk as is Carl

[01:19:17] [SPEAKER_03]: at least in the comics

[01:19:19] [SPEAKER_03]: So far Laurent feels like a shoe in for this category

[01:19:22] [SPEAKER_03]: A multilingual know-it-all

[01:19:24] [SPEAKER_03]: Laurent is the gravitational center around which Darryl Dixon's

[01:19:28] [SPEAKER_03]: and yet he seems pathologically incapable

[01:19:29] [SPEAKER_03]: of making even one good decision

[01:19:31] [SPEAKER_03]: Eventually he makes a choice so

[01:19:33] [SPEAKER_03]: unbelievably horrendous that Darryl is left

[01:19:35] [SPEAKER_03]: sputtering and shouting in disbelief

[01:19:38] [SPEAKER_03]: demanding to know why he did it

[01:19:39] [SPEAKER_03]: I wonder if-is this-that would be a spoiler

[01:19:41] [SPEAKER_05]: cause we've not seen that yet

[01:19:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Hopefully it's okay with people that I read that

[01:19:45] [SPEAKER_03]: The reason is understandable if I'm being honest

[01:19:48] [SPEAKER_03]: but the action is absolutely not

[01:19:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Send this kid to the post apocalyptic

[01:19:52] [SPEAKER_03]: Hague

[01:19:55] [SPEAKER_03]: Next category

[01:19:56] [SPEAKER_03]: The rebels with the cause

[01:19:57] [SPEAKER_03]: or no

[01:19:59] [SPEAKER_03]: The rebels without a cause

[01:20:01] [SPEAKER_03]: Equally ubiquitous is in this dirty

[01:20:03] [SPEAKER_03]: sweaty world our teenagers whose resentment

[01:20:05] [SPEAKER_03]: can sometimes fester into foolishness

[01:20:07] [SPEAKER_03]: Enid left to break out of Alexandria

[01:20:09] [SPEAKER_03]: to tromp around the woods and seem to enjoy

[01:20:11] [SPEAKER_03]: nothing more than blowing off her friends

[01:20:13] [SPEAKER_03]: to instead just

[01:20:15] [SPEAKER_03]: survive somehow on her own

[01:20:17] [SPEAKER_03]: Ron Anderson played by a young

[01:20:19] [SPEAKER_03]: Austin Abrams tried to kill Carl

[01:20:21] [SPEAKER_03]: to avenge his abusive father after Rick killed him

[01:20:24] [SPEAKER_03]: and if I'm being honest

[01:20:25] [SPEAKER_03]: I was extremely grateful when Michonne

[01:20:27] [SPEAKER_03]: ran him through with her katana

[01:20:29] [SPEAKER_05]: I remember that

[01:20:31] [SPEAKER_05]: I wanted to shush

[01:20:32] [SPEAKER_03]: And let's not forget the ceaselessly grumpy

[01:20:35] [SPEAKER_03]: Chris Manawa who might have been fear

[01:20:37] [SPEAKER_03]: The Walking Dead's worst character of all time

[01:20:39] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh you know what

[01:20:40] [SPEAKER_05]: I don't agree with worst character of all time but he was annoying

[01:20:43] [SPEAKER_05]: Yes he was

[01:20:45] [SPEAKER_03]: He was whiny, he was morose

[01:20:47] [SPEAKER_03]: he was selfish, he was just plain intolerable

[01:20:49] [SPEAKER_03]: how satisfying that ultimately it was his own

[01:20:52] [SPEAKER_03]: awful choices that killed him

[01:20:55] [SPEAKER_03]: Then again it's also a pity because after

[01:20:57] [SPEAKER_03]: another seizure so he could have made a good antagonist

[01:21:00] [SPEAKER_03]: Speaking of which

[01:21:01] [SPEAKER_03]: the pint-sized villains

[01:21:03] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh amazing

[01:21:04] [SPEAKER_03]: Sometimes the kids are worse than not

[01:21:07] [SPEAKER_03]: than not alright

[01:21:08] [SPEAKER_03]: Sometimes they turn out to be some of the most bone chilling

[01:21:11] [SPEAKER_03]: villains

[01:21:12] [SPEAKER_03]: I will never forgive Fear The Walking Dead's Charlie

[01:21:15] [SPEAKER_03]: for killing Nick Clark

[01:21:16] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes I didn't read this whole thing

[01:21:18] [SPEAKER_03]: I had a time by the way

[01:21:18] [SPEAKER_03]: One of my favorite characters in the entire franchise

[01:21:21] [SPEAKER_03]: Bad Decisions and all

[01:21:23] [SPEAKER_03]: But the real juggernaut of this category is Lizzie Samuels

[01:21:26] [SPEAKER_03]: A kid so messed up that Carol Pella

[01:21:29] [SPEAKER_03]: tearfully shot her in the back of the head

[01:21:31] [SPEAKER_03]: For anyone who's

[01:21:32] [SPEAKER_03]: forgotten season 4 is The Grove

[01:21:34] [SPEAKER_03]: it's worth remembering one of The Walking Dead's most haunting episodes

[01:21:37] [SPEAKER_03]: Lizzie's father charged her

[01:21:39] [SPEAKER_03]: to take care of her little sister Mika

[01:21:41] [SPEAKER_03]: as he died from a zombie

[01:21:42] [SPEAKER_03]: zombie bite

[01:21:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Unfortunately she lost her grip with the reality

[01:21:45] [SPEAKER_03]: and became attached to the undead

[01:21:47] [SPEAKER_03]: whom she believed spoke to her

[01:21:48] [SPEAKER_03]: Carol and Tyrese were horrified one day

[01:21:51] [SPEAKER_03]: to discover her standing over Mika's dead body

[01:21:53] [SPEAKER_03]: waiting for her to come back to life

[01:21:55] [SPEAKER_03]: as a compassionate intelligent zombie

[01:21:57] [SPEAKER_03]: When Lizzie made clear she was coming

[01:21:59] [SPEAKER_03]: for Judith Next Carol did the unthinkable

[01:22:01] [SPEAKER_03]: and killed her ward standing behind

[01:22:03] [SPEAKER_03]: her and whispering look at the flowers

[01:22:04] [SPEAKER_03]: We all remember that we didn't need to read that

[01:22:07] [SPEAKER_05]: Totally justified

[01:22:09] [SPEAKER_05]: Totally justified I think

[01:22:11] [SPEAKER_03]: The Frady Cats

[01:22:13] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh they're the worst

[01:22:15] [SPEAKER_03]: Those are the ones you hate the most

[01:22:17] [SPEAKER_03]: Listen I know that the zombie apocalypse

[01:22:19] [SPEAKER_03]: is a terrifying environment for a young boy

[01:22:21] [SPEAKER_03]: and Sam Anderson also grew up

[01:22:23] [SPEAKER_03]: with a horrible father

[01:22:24] [SPEAKER_03]: and also Carol's terrifying threat

[01:22:26] [SPEAKER_03]: to leave him out in the woods to get eaten by

[01:22:28] [SPEAKER_03]: zombies probably didn't help

[01:22:30] [SPEAKER_03]: So yes I'm probably being way too hard

[01:22:32] [SPEAKER_03]: on little Sam when I say he's one of the most

[01:22:35] [SPEAKER_03]: annoying young characters the franchise ever spawned

[01:22:38] [SPEAKER_03]: His mother didn't help

[01:22:40] [SPEAKER_03]: by refusing to prepare him for a reality

[01:22:42] [SPEAKER_03]: either still he's a deeply

[01:22:44] [SPEAKER_03]: unflattering reflection of how we would all

[01:22:46] [SPEAKER_03]: probably act during the zombie apocalypse

[01:22:47] [SPEAKER_03]: That's true

[01:22:48] [SPEAKER_03]: He grew up sheltered from zombies

[01:22:51] [SPEAKER_03]: and so unlike Rick and his crew

[01:22:53] [SPEAKER_03]: when he sees one he screams and cries

[01:22:55] [SPEAKER_03]: It's relatable but at the end of the day

[01:22:57] [SPEAKER_03]: as Sam finds out it's also no way to stay alive

[01:23:00] [SPEAKER_03]: True

[01:23:00] [SPEAKER_03]: There's two more calories

[01:23:04] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm surprised Gracie didn't get a mention there

[01:23:06] [SPEAKER_03]: Well

[01:23:07] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh yeah

[01:23:09] [SPEAKER_03]: Wait a minute which one was that

[01:23:11] [SPEAKER_05]: Aaron's daughter

[01:23:13] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah

[01:23:14] [SPEAKER_03]: That scene in the basement

[01:23:16] [SPEAKER_03]: Yup

[01:23:18] [SPEAKER_03]: The undead menaces

[01:23:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Far be it from me to blame the governor's

[01:23:23] [SPEAKER_03]: villainy on his undead four foot tall child

[01:23:25] [SPEAKER_03]: that man turned Woodbury into a township

[01:23:27] [SPEAKER_03]: of horrors all on his own

[01:23:29] [SPEAKER_03]: Still his motivation was his grotesque

[01:23:32] [SPEAKER_03]: decomposing daughter

[01:23:33] [SPEAKER_03]: Penny Blake

[01:23:35] [SPEAKER_03]: whom he kept fed and clothed

[01:23:37] [SPEAKER_03]: even going so far as to brush her hair

[01:23:39] [SPEAKER_03]: you simply hate to see it

[01:23:41] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah

[01:23:42] [SPEAKER_05]: It was so gross

[01:23:43] [SPEAKER_03]: It was sad and while it might be unfair to call Carol's

[01:23:47] [SPEAKER_03]: poor daughter Sophia Pelletier

[01:23:49] [SPEAKER_03]: a menace the group's ongoing

[01:23:51] [SPEAKER_03]: search for her did essentially tank the

[01:23:53] [SPEAKER_03]: second season

[01:23:54] [SPEAKER_03]: she was a sweet lovable soul when she was alive

[01:23:57] [SPEAKER_03]: but by the time we found her zombified corpse

[01:23:59] [SPEAKER_03]: in Herschel's barn at the end of the walking

[01:24:01] [SPEAKER_03]: dead sophomore season I was more than

[01:24:03] [SPEAKER_03]: ready to never hear her name again

[01:24:04] [SPEAKER_03]: I know people don't agree

[01:24:07] [SPEAKER_03]: but I kind of agree with

[01:24:09] [SPEAKER_03]: that I know that was an iconic scene when she came

[01:24:11] [SPEAKER_03]: out of the barn that everybody that's when I fell

[01:24:13] [SPEAKER_03]: in love with the walking dead but just the first half

[01:24:15] [SPEAKER_03]: of that season it was just Sophia Sophia

[01:24:17] [SPEAKER_03]: It dragged

[01:24:18] [SPEAKER_03]: And last the exceptions

[01:24:21] [SPEAKER_03]: not every kid on the walking dead

[01:24:23] [SPEAKER_03]: was bad as always we have a few exceptions

[01:24:25] [SPEAKER_03]: to prove the rule Lizzie's poor little sister

[01:24:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Miko was a total sweetheart

[01:24:29] [SPEAKER_03]: as was Beth Green

[01:24:32] [SPEAKER_03]: who started out frustrating but eventually grew into one of the shows

[01:24:35] [SPEAKER_03]: most reliable sources of light

[01:24:37] [SPEAKER_03]: that is until they killed her in a blindingly

[01:24:39] [SPEAKER_03]: ill-conceived midseason quote twist

[01:24:41] [SPEAKER_05]: also I feel like not quite a kid

[01:24:45] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah

[01:24:45] [SPEAKER_05]: but you know I'll take it I'll take it

[01:24:47] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah yeah

[01:24:48] [SPEAKER_03]: Lydia was a smart and resourceful survivor

[01:24:50] [SPEAKER_03]: with a deep well of empathy even in

[01:24:52] [SPEAKER_03]: spite of her cruel upbringing at the hands

[01:24:54] [SPEAKER_03]: of whisper leader alpha

[01:24:55] [SPEAKER_03]: and then of course there's Judith Grimes

[01:24:58] [SPEAKER_03]: a child character so perfect she always

[01:25:00] [SPEAKER_03]: almost delves into Mary Sue territory

[01:25:02] [SPEAKER_03]: then again what else could we have expected

[01:25:04] [SPEAKER_03]: from Rick Grimes baby dubbed

[01:25:06] [SPEAKER_03]: ass kicker by Darrell Dixon himself

[01:25:08] [SPEAKER_03]: the walking dead might be overrun with useless kids

[01:25:10] [SPEAKER_03]: and surely teens

[01:25:12] [SPEAKER_03]: but this one was clearly there to redeem them all

[01:25:16] [SPEAKER_05]: aww

[01:25:16] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm glad that Judith didn't make the annoying list

[01:25:19] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah

[01:25:22] [SPEAKER_03]: well that was a mean article

[01:25:23] [SPEAKER_03]: and I totally I loved every minute of it

[01:25:26] [SPEAKER_05]: yes Laura Bradley

[01:25:27] [SPEAKER_05]: yes

[01:25:29] [SPEAKER_05]: I love it

[01:25:30] [SPEAKER_05]: I actually love it

[01:25:32] [SPEAKER_03]: oh yeah maybe we could

[01:25:35] [SPEAKER_03]: that was delightful maybe we could get Laura

[01:25:37] [SPEAKER_03]: Bradley on for something sometime which reminds me

[01:25:39] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if we've mentioned it on the podcast

[01:25:41] [SPEAKER_03]: but you always say how much

[01:25:43] [SPEAKER_03]: you like Eric Cain's reviews

[01:25:45] [SPEAKER_03]: of fear the walking dead in Forbes

[01:25:47] [SPEAKER_03]: because he just is

[01:25:50] [SPEAKER_03]: no whole part

[01:25:51] [SPEAKER_03]: out of trashing that show

[01:25:53] [SPEAKER_03]: it makes me want to bow down at his altar

[01:25:56] [SPEAKER_03]: and so we've been in contact with him

[01:25:59] [SPEAKER_03]: and hopefully we're going to be able to have him

[01:26:01] [SPEAKER_03]: on when we talk about

[01:26:03] [SPEAKER_03]: fear at some point

[01:26:04] [SPEAKER_05]: when we want to burn it all to the ground

[01:26:07] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm just like

[01:26:09] [SPEAKER_03]: that's right

[01:26:10] [SPEAKER_05]: you know what

[01:26:12] [SPEAKER_05]: an episode about the kids at the walking dead would be

[01:26:14] [SPEAKER_05]: quite funny I think

[01:26:16] [SPEAKER_05]: but yeah so that was great thank you for sharing that

[01:26:19] [SPEAKER_05]: that's really made my evening I'd forgotten about

[01:26:20] [SPEAKER_05]: I forgot Ron existed until I was watching

[01:26:23] [SPEAKER_05]: me too

[01:26:24] [SPEAKER_05]: when we were researching for the Daryl episode

[01:26:26] [SPEAKER_05]: and I was like what were all the season

[01:26:28] [SPEAKER_05]: finales and things like that and I was like

[01:26:29] [SPEAKER_05]: fucking Ron he sucked

[01:26:34] [SPEAKER_05]: I just remember

[01:26:35] [SPEAKER_05]: the kid that played Sam

[01:26:37] [SPEAKER_05]: I think he ended up being really good friends

[01:26:38] [SPEAKER_05]: with Melissa McBride and he was such

[01:26:40] [SPEAKER_05]: an old soul and I remember watching an interview

[01:26:42] [SPEAKER_05]: with him and he's like oh Melissa

[01:26:44] [SPEAKER_05]: and I we go antiquing at the weekends

[01:26:47] [SPEAKER_05]: I just was like

[01:26:48] [SPEAKER_05]: oh well at least he'll be okay

[01:26:49] [SPEAKER_05]: he goes antiquing he's fine

[01:26:51] [SPEAKER_05]: just loving life

[01:26:53] [SPEAKER_03]: that was like

[01:26:56] [SPEAKER_03]: remember those

[01:26:57] [SPEAKER_03]: episodes that were just the governor's

[01:27:00] [SPEAKER_03]: backstory

[01:27:01] [SPEAKER_03]: that nobody liked

[01:27:02] [SPEAKER_03]: and that girl friend it was when we met Tara

[01:27:06] [SPEAKER_03]: and there was a little girl

[01:27:07] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah and she was

[01:27:10] [SPEAKER_03]: at Walker Stucker

[01:27:11] [SPEAKER_03]: hilarious

[01:27:12] [SPEAKER_03]: super smart and yeah she just stole

[01:27:16] [SPEAKER_03]: the show she was so funny

[01:27:17] [SPEAKER_05]: oh that's awesome I'd forgotten

[01:27:20] [SPEAKER_05]: her yeah she

[01:27:21] [SPEAKER_05]: dies doesn't she she gets bitten or something

[01:27:23] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah yeah I think in the mud

[01:27:26] [SPEAKER_03]: right a zombie popped out of the mud and got her

[01:27:28] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah and then literally

[01:27:30] [SPEAKER_05]: properly loses her shit

[01:27:31] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah yeah it happens

[01:27:39] [SPEAKER_03]: alright

[01:27:40] [SPEAKER_03]: that is our show episode 538

[01:27:42] [SPEAKER_03]: thanks so much for listening everyone

[01:28:41] [SPEAKER_05]: the real story of

[01:28:42] [SPEAKER_05]: the Uruguayan rugby team who were

[01:28:45] [SPEAKER_05]: stuck in the Andes for 72 days

[01:28:46] [SPEAKER_03]: and who stars in

[01:28:48] [SPEAKER_03]: Hamilton

[01:28:50] [SPEAKER_03]: and some other guy

[01:28:52] [SPEAKER_05]: who I found out beat Brad Pitt out

[01:28:54] [SPEAKER_05]: for the part so you know

[01:28:55] [SPEAKER_03]: of course

[01:28:56] [SPEAKER_05]: it was great actually it was very cool
