[00:00:00] Hmm? Ah!

[00:00:02] Hmm.

[00:00:04] Podcastica!

[00:00:24] Welcome to The Cast of Us.

[00:00:28] The Podcast Dedicated to the Shudder of You, The Walking Dead.

[00:00:38] Hello, it's a heads welcome to the podcast I'm Jason.

[00:00:40] And I'm Lucy.

[00:00:42] And we're going through your feedback for The Walking Dead,

[00:00:44] the ones who live season one episode three.

[00:00:48] Bye!

[00:00:50] Goodbye.

[00:00:52] Let's get into it because we have a ton of feedback.

[00:00:54] And we're thankful that you guys are so engaged with it.

[00:00:58] It's awesome.

[00:01:00] Yeah.

[00:01:02] First up, we've got Pamela Strickler who says,

[00:01:04] You're a hero with a shit haircut, best line ever.

[00:01:06] Good way to start.

[00:01:08] Good agree more.

[00:01:10] I was so caught me off guard and I was immediately delighted when I heard that come out of his mouth.

[00:01:14] So good.

[00:01:16] I also kind of felt bad for Paulian and Macintosh for some reason which is totally stupid.

[00:01:20] She probably loved it too.

[00:01:22] No.

[00:01:24] Since the Nolton says I think my favorite part was denying career is acting,

[00:01:30] she said so much in this episode without saying word.

[00:01:32] Yeah.

[00:01:34] Fantastic.

[00:01:36] Jennifer Ringham says, Michonne throwing Rick out of the helicopter is giving Michonne knocking Rick out in Alexandria vibes.

[00:01:42] I love it. Can't wait till she gets her hands on Jada's hopefully.

[00:01:46] Jada's may have saved Rick but she has it come in.

[00:01:48] Yep.

[00:01:50] Michonne is like, he needs some drastic measures here.

[00:01:54] Right.

[00:01:56] We've seen that before.

[00:01:58] Joe says regarding Lucie's point that Thorne potentially has a thing for Rick,

[00:02:04] Leslie and Brandt who plays Thorne tweeted,

[00:02:06] That was actually a big point for me when I took the job.

[00:02:10] The idea of a triangle is not appealing at all.

[00:02:12] It was and is cliche.

[00:02:14] And he says, I too am glad that this is not where her character arc is going.

[00:02:18] Love the podcast.

[00:02:20] I mean,

[00:02:22] It's still not definitely saying it's not worth going she could be saying,

[00:02:26] Yeah, I really didn't want that but they said too bad do what's job or not and I said all right.

[00:02:32] Yeah.

[00:02:34] I saw another exchange with her on Twitter a fan who goes by Cocoa Mo Mondetta said

[00:02:40] I don't get why so many people see some sort of love triangle.

[00:02:44] And then Rick's relationship is two people.

[00:02:46] There are colleagues that became uneasy and somewhat untrusting friends with one thing in common

[00:02:50] and both would kill the other if needed.

[00:02:54] And she, Leslie and Brandt replied,

[00:02:56] I felt strongly about it not being a love triangle for obvious reasons but also not about two women being caddy.

[00:03:02] That's the conversation I had before we even started filming.

[00:03:06] So she's heavily implying it's not that good.

[00:03:08] I'm happy to be wrong on that.

[00:03:10] Like I would hope that is the case.

[00:03:12] Yeah, yeah. It'll be a shock.

[00:03:14] I told you I really didn't want to but they said too bad.

[00:03:18] Then they gave me loads of money and I did it anyway.

[00:03:20] Yeah, exactly.

[00:03:22] Gus Pantazza says,

[00:03:24] Hi, first time long time real quick.

[00:03:26] Isn't the iPhone artist a threat because he knows who Michonne really is?

[00:03:28] I was surprised she wasn't more worried about him knowing her.

[00:03:30] I see a scene coming where he says her name and someone hanging out with her here

[00:03:34] is him and troubling so what do you think?

[00:03:36] I shared that fear Gus but they seem to be quite separate.

[00:03:40] The military and the town so hopefully not.

[00:03:44] Yeah, it was a little like oh she's not even trying to hide it.

[00:03:48] And we know she tends to be a pretty good judge of character

[00:03:52] and I suspect she's right in this case.

[00:03:54] But there was a part of me that's like secrets like you're supposed to be supposed to be a secret.

[00:03:58] I am Michonne.

[00:04:02] He's my Katana.

[00:04:06] Kasia who she says pronounced like nausea terrible,

[00:04:10] namanic but what can you do?

[00:04:12] So Kasia.

[00:04:14] I think Rick brought Michonne to the CRM because Okofort was just killed

[00:04:18] so Rick thought they could escape until Jada's drops the other shoe on Rick.

[00:04:22] I think the place Pearl takes Rick and Michonne to talk

[00:04:26] is where Okofort bombed his wife

[00:04:30] and saved Philly.

[00:04:32] Other people pointed that out and we didn't hardly start.

[00:04:34] I didn't catch it.

[00:04:36] Did you?

[00:04:38] No but I heard it.

[00:04:40] Greg and I were chatting everybody

[00:04:42] and Jason and Chris were talking and Dad mentioned it as well.

[00:04:46] It doesn't.

[00:04:48] It's awful.

[00:04:50] Okofort is just like going to do my lessons and the police were killed my wife.

[00:04:52] Sure.

[00:04:54] In the context of the show it makes sense.

[00:04:56] This is just another example.

[00:04:58] I mean I'm preaching the choir here but I plan on next

[00:05:02] our next episode to try to appeal to people

[00:05:06] to listen to these listener feedback episodes because

[00:05:08] listeners catch stuff that we didn't catch or we just go about things

[00:05:12] at different angles sometimes.

[00:05:14] People think oh yeah it's just going to be a lot of repeating

[00:05:18] the same thing or whatever but a lot of stuff comes out so I think it's great.

[00:05:22] Oh yeah.

[00:05:24] Really enjoyable as well to do.

[00:05:26] Yeah it's really enjoyable.

[00:05:28] Ok we're going to go to a couple calls.

[00:05:30] First one is from Archmacer Ready.

[00:05:32] Ok based on this episode I need to send a message out

[00:05:36] to all of my future lovers.

[00:05:38] Future lovers?

[00:05:40] Yes do come and rescue me from the fascist organization

[00:05:44] which is holding me prisoner.

[00:05:46] Do not, however, throw me out of a helicopter

[00:05:52] in the course of doing so.

[00:05:54] I will not take that well,

[00:05:56] I will not see that as a romantic gesture.

[00:06:00] Skydiving is in no way on my bucket list.

[00:06:04] Alright I'm off to update my dating profiles.

[00:06:08] I mean I see a complication here because what's clearly going to happen is

[00:06:12] Ready is going to be kidnapped by some of the various organizations

[00:06:16] and then five people are going to show up

[00:06:18] because she's cheap.

[00:06:20] That was plural.

[00:06:22] I guess that could be good.

[00:06:24] The more the better to help her out.

[00:06:26] Yeah I mean she's, Ranny's got to go to get out.

[00:06:28] They've laid down the wall.

[00:06:30] We have another call from Colin.

[00:06:34] I tell you what Lads,

[00:06:38] that was a banger of a fucking episode.

[00:06:42] Got a damnant Rick.

[00:06:46] You broke up with her

[00:06:48] and then she pushed you out of a helicopter.

[00:06:50] That's what happens.

[00:06:52] Can't blame her.

[00:06:54] You're kind of a dickhead, but

[00:06:56] God damn it.

[00:06:58] These keep coming out with new bangers.

[00:07:02] Thorne, quit being in love with Rick.

[00:07:04] He's my man.

[00:07:06] Fudge.

[00:07:08] I don't know what to think about this episode.

[00:07:10] I know episode four is supposed to be

[00:07:12] like one of the top rated episodes in the series

[00:07:16] and Denyagra wrote that one.

[00:07:20] So God damn it, let's hope Morgan comes back

[00:07:22] with a stick and

[00:07:24] little Momo comes over

[00:07:26] and beats the piss out of some of those

[00:07:28] like 25 walkers or tanks

[00:07:30] or whatever the hell they're calling them

[00:07:32] fangs. I don't like this one.

[00:07:34] God dang it.

[00:07:38] Oh it's Florida.

[00:07:40] God damn it.

[00:07:42] I hate you're in this episode,

[00:07:44] but I love you.

[00:07:46] I'm a show I love you too.

[00:07:48] You had some

[00:07:50] some side eye looks at both Thorne and Rick

[00:07:52] that had a strap.

[00:07:54] Wow, that kind of sounded like

[00:07:56] the Walker Stocks and Grounds.

[00:08:00] Anyway,

[00:08:02] here you guys are tomorrow

[00:08:04] and I'll be here for next week too.

[00:08:08] I love you all. Bye.

[00:08:10] Oh, cool.

[00:08:12] It's good to hear from you.

[00:08:14] It's mind will bring this up now that he was talking about it.

[00:08:16] So if you heard our episode

[00:08:18] last time,

[00:08:20] Lucy, you were just not a fan of Rick said all.

[00:08:22] So then I went

[00:08:24] to the

[00:08:26] our listener, I mean our

[00:08:28] instant reaction YouTube video that night

[00:08:30] ready for everyone to feel that way.

[00:08:32] And it was me and Alex

[00:08:34] and Jonathan and

[00:08:36] I came right out of the gate with okay.

[00:08:38] So like how much do you are you guys feeling bad

[00:08:40] towards Rick about this or whatever?

[00:08:42] And they were totally anti-machone.

[00:08:44] Yeah, that was interesting.

[00:08:46] That was really interesting.

[00:08:48] Mm hmm.

[00:08:50] And I think

[00:08:52] I think that is interesting.

[00:08:54] I like when a story can divide people like that.

[00:08:56] You know, it makes it more interesting to talk about.

[00:09:00] Honestly, I think personally

[00:09:02] both sides have points

[00:09:04] but I would be more on the side of

[00:09:06] anti-rick.

[00:09:08] Just only because what I said last time that

[00:09:10] Rick should have talked to Michonne and not tried to trick her.

[00:09:12] It's the withholding of information, you know?

[00:09:16] Yeah, that's not good.

[00:09:18] But Michonne and they were saying Michonne was being reckless

[00:09:20] and not understanding the situation that Rick was in

[00:09:22] and all kinds of things like that.

[00:09:24] But I don't think I think she was just trying to

[00:09:26] talk to him and formulate a plan.

[00:09:28] You know, I mean the only place where maybe you could argue

[00:09:30] she was reckless is when she grabbed that

[00:09:32] machine and plowed into the zombies

[00:09:34] when they had told her to hang back, you know?

[00:09:36] Also though like Michonne's...

[00:09:40] I don't want to get too much into a random

[00:09:42] with this but Michonne's had a fucking horrible two years

[00:09:44] as well.

[00:09:46] Like she's had chlorine poisoning.

[00:09:48] She's seen people die.

[00:09:50] She's left her kids.

[00:09:52] She's racked with guilt about that.

[00:09:54] She's finally found them and she just wants to get the hell out of

[00:09:56] her dodge.

[00:09:58] She's going to be making some decisions

[00:10:00] as they could be and also he's giving her

[00:10:02] a fuck all context of what's going on.

[00:10:06] Like he's not telling her what the stakes are.

[00:10:08] He's expecting her to intuit

[00:10:10] and to obey and do things.

[00:10:12] And I'm just like have some thought for

[00:10:14] like what she's been through as well.

[00:10:16] Like he's been through a lot.

[00:10:18] Yeah, he's lost his hand.

[00:10:20] He's not been able to escape and that's really difficult.

[00:10:22] But Michonne's also being on a heck of a journey to get there.

[00:10:24] She's lost a year you know?

[00:10:26] And I think it's unfair to expect her to just be like,

[00:10:28] okay, I'll be.

[00:10:30] That's why I kind of feel I felt less critical

[00:10:34] kind of a lot less critical of Rick than you did though

[00:10:36] because I feel the same way like they both deserve a lot of grace

[00:10:38] considering what they've been through in my opinion.

[00:10:40] Yeah.

[00:10:42] But one of them is just being more of a dick than the other.

[00:10:44] Yeah, I agree.

[00:10:46] One of them is just a dick.

[00:10:48] More of a dick.

[00:10:50] More of a dick.

[00:10:52] That's right.

[00:10:54] On the dick scale.

[00:10:56] Parents Daniel says hello Rick's a dick.

[00:10:58] No, he doesn't say that.

[00:11:00] Terence says hello.

[00:11:02] This was a great episode yet I must say I have never been more pissed with Rick.

[00:11:06] Why not tell Michonne about what could happen if he leaves?

[00:11:10] I know he's trying to keep everyone safe.

[00:11:12] He should realize not telling is what's keeping her there.

[00:11:14] It's been great listening again.

[00:11:16] The podcast helps me get through those long nights at work.

[00:11:18] Thanks.

[00:11:20] You're welcome Terence.

[00:11:22] Thank you for agreeing about Rick.

[00:11:24] I want to tell her that people would be in danger.

[00:11:26] I can't remember that his people, their people would be in danger if he leaves.

[00:11:30] I just think there'll be a danger of being like specifically Judas is left.

[00:11:34] Which means that they will then be but yeah.

[00:11:36] I know.

[00:11:38] I mean part of this and this isn't to excuse Rick is just to understand the story.

[00:11:42] It's to make it more dramatic you know.

[00:11:44] And it was pretty great when in my opinion great in a storytelling way

[00:11:48] when she got there and he wasn't there and she got that note that said i'm not coming.

[00:11:52] And it also i think does deepen Rick's character in a way where he's

[00:11:56] he's been changed by this whole thing and not not in a good way.

[00:12:02] Absolutely.

[00:12:04] Okay, next Nils Cortis says I liked it but did i ever wish they had used a few more words

[00:12:10] when talking to each other?

[00:12:12] Yeah. That's kind of what we're saying.

[00:12:14] I really hope there's going to be a better reason for Rick not mentioning Jada said all

[00:12:18] than trying to shield him as shown from something he doesn't explain.

[00:12:22] If she known that Judith and RJ and everyone else might be under threat maybe

[00:12:26] she wouldn't throw herself in Rick out of flying helicopters and maybe she

[00:12:30] would understand why Rick's plan wasn't really as bad as she thought.

[00:12:34] My pet peeve people not talking to one another.

[00:12:38] This used to be an un-loss that was like a common critique of that show

[00:12:42] people never telling each other things that they totally should know what have.

[00:12:46] And that's the information.

[00:12:48] Yeah, to be fair that is very frickin irritating.

[00:12:52] Andrea Hatfield homestead says really loved this episode

[00:12:56] they weren't kidding when they said it would be a roller coaster of a ride with this show.

[00:13:00] So many great moments from him leaving her the katana to your haircut is shit to Jada's

[00:13:04] that wild scene of them jumping out of the helicopter.

[00:13:07] A lot going on in one episode I really need to rewatch

[00:13:10] however you guys do a great job covering it as always.

[00:13:13] Thank you Andrea.

[00:13:14] General Biel isn't stupid I think he knows exactly what Rick is capable of and maybe this is his plan promoting etc.

[00:13:20] Maybe he's on to Jada's and knows she's been up to no good in a sense.

[00:13:23] I think that might play out.

[00:13:25] Yeah, I hope so.

[00:13:26] I hope Jada's Jada's Jada's gets her come up and some with you on that Andrea.

[00:13:32] Biel said something about Rick that whole thing you mentioned.

[00:13:35] I forget what the concept was called that about something being the poison and also the cure.

[00:13:41] It's interesting because that's kind of what Rick is sometimes when he goes to a community.

[00:13:47] He's like a poison and a cure all it was.

[00:13:50] Yeah, that's not always good for the people currently in charge so you think Biel would be more cognizant of that.

[00:13:58] I just had a thought about when character it's we could take things because the characters don't talk to each other enough

[00:14:04] and I think it's actually impressive when a show can manage to have the characters say the things that they reasonably would say

[00:14:13] and it not ruin the plot.

[00:14:14] A lot of the times the reason why they have people not give each other information is because it would just then they would be like

[00:14:22] oh, then clearly we need to do this and then the drama wouldn't happen.

[00:14:25] But when the writing is good enough that they can manage to have them tell each other things that they actually would and then it still a great story.

[00:14:31] It's awesome and I feel like breaking bad and better call Saul are two good examples of that.

[00:14:35] I rarely felt like the characters were doing things that didn't make sense just because of plot reasons so I just want to give a shout out that it can be done.

[00:14:45] Yeah, it can be done and it should be done.

[00:14:48] Tam from Perth Western Australia says Hey Lucy and Jason just listening to the episode after watching and regarding the young artist talking to

[00:14:57] about his portraits when he said that Rick had tried to describe a bit also I actually thought it could be RJ which is why he's determined to at least get

[00:15:06] machined back to Jude in the gang.

[00:15:10] Is J just blackmailing him with that knowledge and Rick can't bring himself to say it out loud to machoen that conversation would definitely interrupt those kissing times.

[00:15:19] No, I mean, I don't think he doesn't know about RJ.

[00:15:24] He doesn't know.

[00:15:27] So happy listening to you all chat about these people who've been in our lives for so long thanks for all you do much love and I got it to you from down under.

[00:15:36] That's actually I love that. Thanks Tom.

[00:15:39] Thanks, Sam. Good day for me.

[00:15:41] All right here is a call from Mark Nichols.

[00:15:44] Mark Nichols.

[00:15:45] So Lucy, this is Mark Nichols from Texas been a while since I called in.

[00:15:50] It's calling in about the new Rick and machoen show really enjoying all your coverage on it.

[00:15:56] And it's really nice to see Rick back on the screen.

[00:15:59] The one thing I didn't want to talk about is the millet that is in the first episode from what I know when I could be completely wrong.

[00:16:08] Millets is something they used to use to kind of augment food sources.

[00:16:13] So if someone could make enough food millet could be mixed with other items to make food more sustainable.

[00:16:21] So I kind of wonder if that was his project of growing millet is to counteract the theory that we need to destroy communities there taking up too much of our resources.

[00:16:33] So just a thought as you went into that in the previous episode, looking forward to the next few episodes and wish you all the best.

[00:16:42] Thank you for all you do.

[00:16:44] Thanks Mark. I love that theory.

[00:16:45] I think Okafort has his mind on big issues like that so it could be right.

[00:16:53] Love a bit of millet.

[00:16:55] Jason Chewy.

[00:16:56] I've never had it.

[00:16:57] I don't know.

[00:16:58] Mark was on one of our Patreon exclusive podcasts the last Z head show we did where we had the best of 2023 and he was great.

[00:17:11] Here's Jason from Fort Worth.

[00:17:14] I remember Jason was really upset about something.

[00:17:18] What was it that Rick's hand got cut off Rick's hand getting cold.

[00:17:21] Yeah, he signs better.

[00:17:23] I'm you know we'll see.

[00:17:25] Yeah, well we'll see I don't know let's see.

[00:17:28] Oh Jason's right that we're talking about Mark yet.

[00:17:30] Let's see how Jason is.

[00:17:31] Yeah, this is call.

[00:17:32] Yeah here he goes.

[00:17:33] He chopped off his own hand in solidarity and no he's okay.

[00:17:37] No, that's all.

[00:17:38] Hey Jason and Lucy.

[00:17:40] This is Jason from Fort Worth, Texas.

[00:17:43] Sorry I missed you guys last week.

[00:17:46] I was too busy to call in so I'm going to give you a quick recap on episode two.

[00:17:50] I loved it much better than episode one because they didn't cut my show's hand off.

[00:17:57] I'm okay, I've recovered my board.

[00:18:01] I loved episode two and one other thing one other thing I want to mention about episode two is that I love the subtle so usually Michelle is a dark character right she's not a smiley character.

[00:18:12] But before she found Rick, I love the subtle happiness.

[00:18:15] She had to through each scene with that new group and with Nat and all of that.

[00:18:20] And I thought that was great now moving on to episode three.

[00:18:23] I agree with Lucy.

[00:18:24] It's the least favorite of mine of the three but I still really liked it a lot.

[00:18:29] I think they're setting up a lot.

[00:18:31] I did catch a vibe off thorn a little bit you know I mean Rick's Rick Sahadi right he's a hottie so why not?

[00:18:37] Let him be the most desirable man in the apocalypse. I'm okay with that.

[00:18:43] And I guess the only other comment I really have because you guys said it all already listen to your coverage for this week is I think they're really going hard on this Rick is kind of a defeated man right now and Michelle has to save him, which is fine.

[00:18:58] I think that's a great you know storyline is working.

[00:19:01] I think they're holding back the.

[00:19:04] Michelle telling Rick about RJ because I think they're going to use that to be the trigger like it things are going to get so bad he's going to be so defeated and then she's going to drop it on him.

[00:19:15] Rick, you have to fight you have to defeat these people why not only because Judith but you have a son RJ Rick Jr.

[00:19:24] And it's going to unleash the beast and then my boy slick Rick grimes is going to come back even with one hand and start wiling on everybody.

[00:19:34] That's what I'm looking for so that's my theory that's what I think is going to happen man you guys let me know what you think later.

[00:19:42] I think that's a solid theory.

[00:19:44] I think yeah he seemed to have gotten over that trauma.

[00:19:49] I had to hear him sounding better.

[00:19:51] I had had been concerned so thanks for calling in.

[00:19:53] Yeah me too.

[00:19:54] I was eager to hear your message.

[00:19:56] I was glad to hear it and there's something else I was going to say about.

[00:20:01] And I guess that's it yeah, I think I think that's a pretty solid theory so we'll have to watch and see.

[00:20:07] Carly Jackson says I'm curious what people think of the persistent sexual harassment from J.

[00:20:12] It's interesting to see a physically large women with a social status related to her capacity for violence making these comments to a man.

[00:20:19] I've seen a lot of that anything where the villain is male and the protagonist is female and it usually makes me feel a deep disgust.

[00:20:25] It doesn't feel as sinister when J. is harassed as Rick when the governor made Maggie take off her shirt so he can intimidate her that was very disturbing.

[00:20:32] Maybe I still consider J. is as a harmless found object artist and don't think she would actually rape Rick but maybe that's a mistake.

[00:20:39] I really hope the show doesn't go there.

[00:20:42] Yeah, Carly I think you raise a valid point I was thinking actually earlier when we were talking about my show knocking record with the head and pulling out the helicopter that I'm like.

[00:20:51] Yeah if it was a mandignature woman would we be as cool with it but there's such an equally matched couple in terms of the power dynamic that I don't really think about that whereas with J.

[00:21:00] I think it's hard to take her seriously given the origins that we've seen from her but I think you make a really interesting point about that kind of harassment and how we have double standards about it.

[00:21:15] We do and in this case it could be a big point because J. has a lot of power over Rick.

[00:21:24] I mean, I don't think J. is going to rape Rick but she can manipulate him based on her feelings about him she is.

[00:21:34] Yeah, she's already doing it. I think it's a problem right now but there is that double standard so we tend to laugh it off when the genders are reversed here and that's just the way it is.

[00:21:46] Sorry, sorry guys.

[00:21:49] Alright, we're not going to solve that here.

[00:21:54] We can't fix that so we're just going to move on to the next one but I appreciate you for giving it up.

[00:21:58] Ashley had a wolf set because when I was in working at publishing company when I was in my early 20s.

[00:22:07] I got some really uncomfortable comments from some of my higher ups like this one woman I was at proofreading something with.

[00:22:18] She just picked up this hair and it was like is that a pubic hair and I knew she had a crush on me and I'm just like, I don't know I don't know.

[00:22:27] Oh God, and now she cloned you. She cloned you from the hair.

[00:22:32] It wasn't a pubic hair and it wasn't mine.

[00:22:36] There was other things that were even worse than that and I don't know, I just.

[00:22:41] It's hard. I didn't think it's hard. I think men are expected to tolerate it in a way that women are like well we've had it worse for so long and it can be really.

[00:22:50] Women have had it so much worse like that's a factor in all of this for sure. Wait, immeasurably.

[00:22:57] I was like maybe keep your pubes to yourself.

[00:23:02] I was leading her on.

[00:23:06] Ashley Edward Wolf says,

[00:23:08] you're a hero with a shit haircut laughy emoji.

[00:23:12] I literally laughed out loud me too.

[00:23:14] Best line of the episode.

[00:23:15] I agree with Lucy on Thorne.

[00:23:17] I do not like her and now she's Rick's commanding officer.

[00:23:20] I roll Rick has pushed Michonne over the edge with his bullshit and now Michonne has had enough and thrown his ass out of a helicopter.

[00:23:27] Well, kind of she went with it.

[00:23:30] It would be a much different dynamic if she just threw him out.

[00:23:34] You know, I wouldn't have blamed her after the last episode.

[00:23:36] I did be like,

[00:23:37] bye.

[00:23:39] Oh boy, what a frick through Michonne now.

[00:23:41] I told you to get out of here.

[00:23:44] The show is great.

[00:23:46] I'm so sad we're at the halfway point.

[00:23:48] I know I'm guessing there's got to be more seasons at this point because the numbers are so high.

[00:23:52] I hope so.

[00:23:53] We'll see.

[00:23:54] I don't know where the show is taking us or how it's going to end in only three episodes.

[00:23:57] I'm on the edge of my seat.

[00:23:58] PS on the rewatch.

[00:23:59] I like that you're going episode by episode.

[00:24:01] Don't change it please.

[00:24:02] We don't plan to anytime soon, but I'm glad to hear that.

[00:24:05] Thank you.

[00:24:06] Yeah, I'm enjoying that.

[00:24:07] Yeah. Thanks Ashley.

[00:24:09] I'm Anja says hi guys.

[00:24:11] I'm so excited for you to talk about this episode.

[00:24:13] At first, it was kind of slow paced and I was kind of just sad for Michonne.

[00:24:16] Rick really hit her with the most heartbreaking lines.

[00:24:19] What we had is broken, but it was all worth it for us to see them fall off that helicopter.

[00:24:24] I died when Rick just started screaming.

[00:24:26] No.

[00:24:27] Also easily the best part of the episode.

[00:24:30] Sassy Grimes telling Jadas and her mushroom haircut off his eyebrows made me so happy.

[00:24:35] I'm just kind of bored with Thorne.

[00:24:37] Yeah.

[00:24:38] She just adapted to the cult mindset so easily, even though I understand her thought process,

[00:24:42] but fuck her for trying to kill our girl Michonne.

[00:24:44] To end this, I have to agree with Lucy on her take that Andrew Lincoln is kissing tonight

[00:24:48] for himself.

[00:24:49] They're so so cute.

[00:24:50] I adore them.

[00:24:51] Thanks for reading guys.

[00:24:52] I don't know if I said that, but I'll take it.

[00:24:54] I'll take it.

[00:24:55] You wait.

[00:24:56] They got kick chemistry.

[00:24:57] Love it.

[00:24:58] Great.

[00:24:59] Great message.

[00:25:00] All right.

[00:25:01] Here is a call from our friend Veronica.

[00:25:02] Veronica.

[00:25:03] Hi Jason and Lucy.

[00:25:05] Veronica, longtime listener.

[00:25:08] Very occasional podcaster, but I think this is my very first time ever calling in with feedback.

[00:25:14] I wanted to say a couple of points about the last episode gone before getting into

[00:25:18] BYE.

[00:25:19] So I just wanted to call Michonne for being so harsh to the Nomad group on their decision

[00:25:24] to leave people behind because it wasn't that long ago in the timeline that Michonne

[00:25:29] was refusing to help any of her friends that were in the close vicinity of Alexandria

[00:25:35] that were actually part of the community living there.

[00:25:39] And so I don't think she was wrong for calling the Nomad group out on this.

[00:25:44] I think she could have come at it of like, hey, I get it.

[00:25:47] I was choosing safety over my loved ones too and it didn't work out well.

[00:25:53] So I just hated her sort of like harsh like I'm always the morally right person and you

[00:25:58] guys are terrible.

[00:26:01] The only other thing was I definitely agree with you guys that it's check-offs lighter because

[00:26:05] there's this moment when that and Michonne are getting ready to leave their mall and

[00:26:12] Nat replies to something Michonne says with, I know how it ends.

[00:26:17] And then the camera zooms in on the light, the danger lighter.

[00:26:19] And so I really think the lighter is going to have something to do with how the season

[00:26:24] ends or the CRM ends.

[00:26:26] But I'm excited to see how that plays out.

[00:26:29] Okay, so then within that episode by, I mean, I loved it.

[00:26:33] I really did.

[00:26:34] There's so much tension all this stuff.

[00:26:36] I felt like it was coming from sort of tropes where Rick and Michonne could just have a

[00:26:41] few conversations and better understand the actions that are being taken.

[00:26:47] Rick should not have just tried to immediately trick Michonne into patting off in the canoe.

[00:26:52] But I will say that's consistent for Rick's character.

[00:26:54] He rushes into some sort of action instead of having the moment to sort of slow down and

[00:26:59] have a conversation.

[00:27:00] And I think Lucy has called him out on that before.

[00:27:03] It doesn't mean he's always wrong in the actions he's doing, but I think things could

[00:27:07] play out if he would just slow down and talk.

[00:27:10] Also, as much as I love seeing Rick and Michonne get to be in each other's arms and kiss,

[00:27:15] I'm like, oh my god, someone is going to catch you.

[00:27:17] Please stop making out, which is also key times where they could be saying these things

[00:27:22] that they need to.

[00:27:23] Okay, so I'm nitpicking because at the end of the day, I'm loving this series, loving

[00:27:28] your guys coverage and really just mostly having a good time with it.

[00:27:32] I can't wait to see how things end up.

[00:27:37] And I just want to say when Thorn had Michonne lined up in the sites of her gun, I really

[00:27:42] just needed a little peekaboo of Dale coming up.

[00:27:46] Yeah.

[00:27:47] Because that's a little bit of a joke.

[00:27:50] Someone's good at video-flicing.

[00:27:51] Ghost Dale.

[00:27:52] Yeah, I love it.

[00:27:53] Yeah, that's a good way to see what happens in the end of this season.

[00:27:57] I hope it's more than one season, but if it's not, I hope they tie things up really nicely

[00:28:03] and that we all feel satisfied.

[00:28:04] All right, bye.

[00:28:05] Love for Ronika.

[00:28:06] Yeah, every scene needs a Dale.

[00:28:10] Yeah, my biggest takeaway from that is I'm looking forward to Randy's video of-

[00:28:16] Yeah, Randy, get on it.

[00:28:19] I don't know.

[00:28:21] I agree.

[00:28:22] It's interesting about Michonne being kind of a hypocritical there.

[00:28:26] And the check-offs slider, I always, I mean, I also think Beale Sword is going to come

[00:28:32] into it.

[00:28:33] That's check-offs sword for sure.

[00:28:35] Yes.

[00:28:36] Yeah, for sure.

[00:28:37] Mercer.

[00:28:38] And you're supposed to check-offs.

[00:28:39] I was thinking about what you'd been saying about Rick, like always needing to go off

[00:28:44] rather than slow down.

[00:28:47] And I was thinking, is this exactly what Lucy was talking about?

[00:28:51] Is this kind of what-

[00:28:52] Yeah.

[00:28:53] Like in the same vein?

[00:28:54] Absolutely.

[00:28:55] Because I don't remember any times before where he didn't tell people what he was doing.

[00:29:00] I could be missing something, but this seems like a first.

[00:29:04] No, it's not so much about they're not telling them.

[00:29:05] It's about the need for action over-sitting with something.

[00:29:09] Yeah, I don't know.

[00:29:11] I just feel like this is a bit- this he's different to me than the way he's been in

[00:29:16] the past.

[00:29:17] I don't know if Rick would before have not told the people he cares about what's on his

[00:29:24] mind what he's doing.

[00:29:25] He might go do it without them wanting him to go, but he tends to have told them what

[00:29:30] he was going to do first.

[00:29:31] You know?

[00:29:32] Proces the CRM influence, the Chrissy insecurity above all else.

[00:29:36] Yeah, secrecy.

[00:29:37] Right.

[00:29:38] Absolutely.

[00:29:39] Rain washed.

[00:29:40] Rain washed.

[00:29:41] All right.

[00:29:42] Jeff Haker.

[00:29:43] Haker.

[00:29:44] Haker.

[00:29:45] Yeah.

[00:29:46] Says, hi, Jason.

[00:29:47] Lucy.

[00:29:48] I'm loving the ones who live so far.

[00:29:49] RIP to Nat.

[00:29:50] He was great.

[00:29:52] I love J. Just being back as she's interesting, but I also hate her for what she's doing

[00:29:56] to Richone.

[00:29:58] I can't decide if she's going to get killed off by Rick or Michonne some other way, or if

[00:30:02] she'll run back to Alexandria.

[00:30:05] I also think Pearl is on the block because she's now an obstacle to Rick after this last

[00:30:10] episode.

[00:30:11] I like her too.

[00:30:12] So hopefully she ends up being a part of the Rick Spearsie to take over the CRM if it goes

[00:30:17] that way.

[00:30:18] The dictatorship part two.

[00:30:19] I also wonder if these three sequel series will connect CRM versus the Dama in Dead City

[00:30:25] or CRM versus the French lady from Darryl Dixon.

[00:30:29] What was her group called?

[00:30:31] Do we?

[00:30:32] They've told us about this.

[00:30:33] Oh, the poor.

[00:30:34] Poor.

[00:30:35] Vival.

[00:30:36] Right?

[00:30:37] Yeah, that one.

[00:30:38] Yeah, that one.

[00:30:39] Yeah.

[00:30:41] Side note, my work uses a CRM program.

[00:30:44] So every time I hear CRM, my soul leaves my body for a minute.

[00:30:47] Thank you for all the coverage and looking forward to the final question mark journey of

[00:30:52] Rick and Michonne.

[00:30:53] Oh, Jeff, I wanted my little jobs.

[00:30:57] They had in your annual review, you had to do a wellness action plan on the acronym for

[00:31:03] that is WAP.

[00:31:04] And it was just about the time that the WAP, the song came out.

[00:31:06] We were working on the WAP.

[00:31:07] And I really was like, it's nobody thinking that we should change this because you were

[00:31:10] getting emails like, right, everyone, it's time for your WAP.

[00:31:13] And we're like, oh, no, oh, so yeah, acronyms.

[00:31:17] What a bitch.

[00:31:18] I hate it.

[00:31:19] Sorry.

[00:31:20] Lizzie from Pittsburgh says, hey Jason and Lucy, I need to start off by saying how shocked

[00:31:25] I am the amount of people, whether it is podcast or YouTube videos I'm listening

[00:31:28] to weren't as in love with this episode as I was.

[00:31:32] I was so amped by the end of this episode and loved seeing what's in the CRM and that crazy

[00:31:36] twist Rick put us through.

[00:31:38] I have to point out as soon as Pearl had me shown in her cross here as my mind immediately

[00:31:42] went back to the episode where Shane did the same to Rick and I noticed both Pearl and

[00:31:46] Shane had the same mouth movement and facial expressions in their respective scenes.

[00:31:51] One question I'd love to get your guys opinion on is, do you think they will surprise us

[00:31:55] with a renewal of a second season of the show just like the other spin-offs?

[00:31:58] Nothing would make me happier.

[00:32:00] I'm so happy if I'm in this podcast.

[00:32:02] You guys are by far the best covering the show.

[00:32:04] So much.

[00:32:05] Thanks, Lizzie.

[00:32:06] I they've got to do a second season.

[00:32:09] I'm announcing it now there's going to be a second season.

[00:32:11] But I'm sorry.

[00:32:12] Yeah, we've decided.

[00:32:14] Texts got.

[00:32:18] I think I do so they got a bit of backlash in season 11 for revealing the Maggie Negan

[00:32:24] spin-off.

[00:32:25] Yeah, so I think they're trying to.

[00:32:27] So I think they're holding at least to their chest.

[00:32:29] We hope we don't know.

[00:32:30] We don't know anything.

[00:32:33] We get screeners but we don't know anything.

[00:32:35] I mean, I feel like it's good right now if people are digging the show to have us hoping

[00:32:41] for it rather than just say it.

[00:32:42] You know, I don't know.

[00:32:43] I'm enjoying not knowing for sure.

[00:32:45] But I hope so.

[00:32:46] And I'm on I'm with you Lizzie about this episode.

[00:32:50] I loved it.

[00:32:51] I thought it was great.

[00:32:53] Dee Dee Birdgeron says, so wow.

[00:32:55] I thought this show was going to be about Michonne and Rick finding each other and then

[00:32:59] the two of them against the CRM.

[00:33:02] So much more interesting that it's about Michonne finally.

[00:33:05] Finding him reuniting and expecting it to be the two of them in sync and focused just

[00:33:09] as hard to get back to Judith and RJ and the rest of their chosen family.

[00:33:13] Only to discover the depth of his learned helplessness and fear is the real enemy.

[00:33:18] This story is more interesting and actually I feel tension about it much more than if

[00:33:22] it were just about the two of them trying to leave together.

[00:33:25] I can't agree with you more.

[00:33:26] It's just so, it's so interesting.

[00:33:28] They really I felt like took, are they making the best of where they left these characters?

[00:33:35] You know, Rick being gone for so many years.

[00:33:37] Yeah.

[00:33:38] He's changed.

[00:33:39] PSO and one of the recent podcasts there was speculation that the red lights being used

[00:33:43] by the CRM all the time might be less walker attracting.

[00:33:48] I just watched World Beyond Season 1 episode 4 and Silas uses a red flare to get around

[00:33:52] in the basement of the school.

[00:33:54] Walkers definitely attracted.

[00:33:55] Yeah, I don't think there's anything to that on.

[00:33:57] Yeah.

[00:33:58] Yeah, they like fire.

[00:34:00] Yeah, they like fire.

[00:34:03] They like it.

[00:34:04] Um, who I go, it's cool.

[00:34:07] You got a call from your friend Jenny Ryan.

[00:34:10] Here it is.

[00:34:11] Amazing.

[00:34:12] And my friend too.

[00:34:13] Yeah.

[00:34:14] Hello, Jenny from Saskatoon here.

[00:34:16] Some of you know me from an improv podcast that I do on the network called Welcome to

[00:34:20] the Apocalypse.

[00:34:21] Um, and I'm on that show because I am an improviser and an improviser is someone who

[00:34:26] makes things up on the spot much like this phone call is improvised.

[00:34:31] So as an improviser, my improv group and I a few years ago invented this game called

[00:34:39] Tarantino.

[00:34:40] And you know how Tarantino movies will show you like the ending and then how they got there

[00:34:44] well, that was our game.

[00:34:45] So we would we would improvise an ending for like 30 seconds and then we had five minutes

[00:34:52] to tell you how that ending happened.

[00:34:55] So the whole scene was us justifying this 30 second ending and how we got there and

[00:35:01] it was ridiculous and hilarious and often didn't make any sense and was usually the actors

[00:35:07] just like a shoe horning in things to make the ending make sense.

[00:35:11] And I feel that this series, the world, the world, what's it called?

[00:35:18] The ones who live.

[00:35:19] The ones who live is just a giant example of this.

[00:35:24] So I feel like the writers in the various other shows that they've done have set up a

[00:35:29] bunch of things and now they're just trying to justify it.

[00:35:33] The entire series is just them trying to like shoehorn in something.

[00:35:38] That's so funny because it's kind of like the exact compliment I was just giving the

[00:35:41] show that they made.

[00:35:42] That's where the characters got left but she's like, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's

[00:35:49] it's less of a less of empty.

[00:35:50] Yeah, I guess so stuff to like okay, like honestly, it doesn't make any sense.

[00:35:57] Not like that happening is making any sense but they're really want us to believe it.

[00:36:01] I mean we don't know and I don't think they know and it's just bad storytelling.

[00:36:07] They're not, we really believe that there would be an entire community made of just followers.

[00:36:17] Like is that really how you build the future?

[00:36:19] Just followers?

[00:36:20] It doesn't make any sense.

[00:36:22] Do we really believe that Jades would have had to spend years living in a trash heap?

[00:36:27] Why couldn't she just hand over her trash people to be consignees?

[00:36:31] Like I don't understand.

[00:36:32] They're trying to explain how Rick ended up there and they're trying to use this ridiculous

[00:36:37] plot and I just hate it because it's not, if they wrote it linearly, I don't think

[00:36:42] they'd have ended up here.

[00:36:44] They've written themselves into a hole and other try to write themselves out of it and honestly

[00:36:47] I don't think there could enough writers to do it.

[00:36:52] So mad.

[00:36:53] So mad.

[00:36:55] Michelle deserves better.

[00:36:57] I mean Michelle deserves the best at all times.

[00:37:01] I get the sense she didn't like it.

[00:37:06] I think I saw Jenny play back game once.

[00:37:08] It was very good.

[00:37:09] That sounds like fun.

[00:37:10] Yeah, I think there are elements where I've thought they did, the phone is a really good

[00:37:16] one.

[00:37:17] Like I liked how the phone was resolved because I was just taken with that scene in an

[00:37:21] emotional way but I don't think that when that phone turned up in season 10 of The Walking

[00:37:27] Dead with Michelle and Judith on it and the Japanese writing that people were like

[00:37:31] and that will be Ben Chiroin.

[00:37:32] He'll have a stall at the market and feel a deal with this and this and this.

[00:37:37] It just doesn't feel tight enough for that to be it.

[00:37:41] So I do think Jenny makes some cogent points there.

[00:37:46] I don't know.

[00:37:47] I think, I wonder how much of this story they came up with because Andrew Lincoln was

[00:37:54] going to leave the show and they wanted to set this up.

[00:37:58] I think this story, it wasn't all written out in beats but the general arch of it was

[00:38:06] set up all at once.

[00:38:07] I don't really think they necessarily wrote themselves into a corner and now they're having

[00:38:11] to deal with it in the broadest sense.

[00:38:15] Maybe some of the smaller plot elements for sure, but I think that this whole sprawling

[00:38:21] Walking Dead story started with the fall of civilization and then it's interesting because

[00:38:27] it's 12 years post-apocalyptic storytelling.

[00:38:30] I don't think there's any other example of that.

[00:38:33] As time goes on, you see groups form smaller groups and it would be like that.

[00:38:39] I think you would get people who have strong personalities or who are really brutal and

[00:38:45] to be feared and are able to get people to follow them.

[00:38:50] One means or another, Negan through fear or somebody else, Ezekiel through charisma

[00:38:55] or whatever.

[00:38:57] Then you would have eventually these more fortified groups like the CRM that have more resources

[00:39:03] and they've managed through whatever way they can think of to organize.

[00:39:09] I feel like it's a cult kind of a thing where it deals at the head and often in cults

[00:39:14] they don't want other alphas.

[00:39:15] They only want one.

[00:39:17] I don't know.

[00:39:18] It is a bit of a stretch for sure, but I think maybe not.

[00:39:22] I don't agree that it's like, oh my God, it's ridiculous.

[00:39:25] I can sort of see what they're going for.

[00:39:31] That was in the detail.

[00:39:32] I think some things have you start to think about them.

[00:39:33] You are like, oh yeah.

[00:39:34] That's for sure.

[00:39:35] That's why we have the department of suspension and disbelief.

[00:39:38] Yeah.

[00:39:39] I'm still a bit like, why would they waste all that medical care on Rick when they're

[00:39:42] like ads?

[00:39:43] I guess these people like it's, yeah, but they did.

[00:39:46] Yeah, there's some things in there that don't quite make sense.

[00:39:49] But if you could any episode of The Walking Dead, you can find something like that.

[00:39:54] I would say.

[00:39:55] Yeah.

[00:39:56] All right.

[00:39:57] You're sure.

[00:39:58] I'm sorry.

[00:39:59] I wanted to mention she mentioned welcome to the apocalypse.

[00:40:03] You and I just recorded an episode a few days back.

[00:40:06] It won't be out for a while because Randy really puts a lot into the editing and so we'll

[00:40:10] see it maybe in a couple weeks.

[00:40:11] But what did you think?

[00:40:13] It was so fun and the production value around to put in is incredible.

[00:40:17] Peter and I were, we went to IKEA very exciting and we listened to Welcome to the

[00:40:21] Pop Clips on the way there and on the way back and caught up on all of it.

[00:40:25] It's just amazing.

[00:40:26] It's so well done.

[00:40:27] He does so well.

[00:40:28] Really, really well done.

[00:40:29] All right.

[00:40:30] I was nervous and our episode was more, I'll give you a little teaser, more

[00:40:33] scatological than I thought it was going to be.

[00:40:35] Yeah.

[00:40:36] We really went.

[00:40:37] It went down real quick.

[00:40:40] I was like, oh my God.

[00:40:41] Well, we got to go for it.

[00:40:42] It's yes and it's improv.

[00:40:44] Yes and yes and it was enthusiasm.

[00:40:48] It was great and I'm so like on a personal level, it's just so amazing having Jenny on

[00:40:52] the network and really like I was feeling very happy about that all weekend.

[00:40:56] So for listeners who are not where Jenny was my improv teacher in Canada.

[00:41:01] Yeah.

[00:41:02] Jenny was her improv teacher and she just randomly started listening to our Yellowjack.

[00:41:08] She's podcast yellowjack's WTF and writing in.

[00:41:12] And I saw that she was from sketch one, so I asked Lucy, hey, do you happen to know

[00:41:15] Jenny from Sassai's point?

[00:41:16] She was like, oh, as a matter of fact, I do.

[00:41:18] So then we had Lucy as a guest host just to kind of blow Jenny's mind.

[00:41:22] Yeah.

[00:41:23] Mine blow.

[00:41:24] I was like, well, it can't be the awesome Jenny.

[00:41:28] I know because Jenny said so cool.

[00:41:29] But what about that?

[00:41:30] I was like, oh my God, it is this is awesome.

[00:41:32] I played it.

[00:41:33] That's great.

[00:41:34] It was great.

[00:41:35] It was really good.

[00:41:36] I'm really pleased with that.

[00:41:37] And I think the, yeah, if you're, if you did comedy, if you did, well done improv and

[00:41:42] zombies, welcome to the pop clips is fantastic.

[00:41:45] Yeah.

[00:41:46] Yeah.

[00:41:47] Alma.

[00:41:48] Trea says, well, I did not like this episode.

[00:41:53] First off, that thorn chick, I can't hardly understand the words coming out of her face.

[00:41:57] I did consider turning on the subtitles, but dammit it was 5 AM and didn't feel like

[00:42:01] reading stuff.

[00:42:02] Then we had black ass jadis, though I did like that Michele and seen her.

[00:42:06] I was wondering how long it would be before she found out about her.

[00:42:09] Was it me or did it seem like Rick had a little something going on with Thorn and

[00:42:13] dammit, gimple with his three different timelines.

[00:42:15] Can he please just stick to telling us straight forward?

[00:42:17] Good story.

[00:42:18] Please.

[00:42:19] I did love Michele's bad assory but I'm afraid it's gonna get her into so much trouble.

[00:42:23] I gasped when Michele unbuckled herself, grabbed Rick and bounced out the helicopter.

[00:42:28] Yep.

[00:42:29] Alma, it was quite an ending.

[00:42:31] Nice.

[00:42:33] Ray says, hey Jason and Lucy, long time fan first time writer.

[00:42:38] Hello.

[00:42:39] Hi Ray.

[00:42:40] I just want to start off by saying how much I love you guys.

[00:42:42] The Walking Dead is my comfort show.

[00:42:44] None of my friends or family are really into the Walking Dead universe so it's really

[00:42:47] awesome to get to talk it out and listen to your guys points of view.

[00:42:51] Thank you.

[00:42:52] Roger here.

[00:42:53] Thank you.

[00:42:54] Onto the questions.

[00:42:55] What do you think Okofor met in his final quote when you get to that point swear

[00:43:00] on the sword?

[00:43:01] I won't let it take.

[00:43:03] I went back and watched the scene, he's in the helicopter with Rick.

[00:43:07] Rick has just told him I'm in and he says, Okofor says, I know you're the right thing for

[00:43:15] this force, Rick.

[00:43:16] I know you're the right thing for this plan.

[00:43:19] No more A's and B's, no more Omaha's.

[00:43:21] You know I'm gonna be perfectly honest.

[00:43:22] I still don't know how it's all gonna work out so I'll tell you one more secret when you

[00:43:26] get to that point swear on the sword.

[00:43:29] Don't let it take.

[00:43:30] No, trust me.

[00:43:31] You'll know.

[00:43:32] It just sounds like gibberish to me honestly.

[00:43:35] Unless it's like there's a secret ceremony with Mercer Sword or something like that.

[00:43:39] I don't know.

[00:43:40] What does he do when you get to that point?

[00:43:42] I mean, just bringing my like a total guess, it sounds like maybe he's saying if you ever

[00:43:48] doubt any of this swear on the sword like Mercer Sword but that's totally in your head.

[00:43:56] Yeah.

[00:43:57] Yeah.

[00:43:58] I can take that reading.

[00:43:59] No, no.

[00:44:01] She goes on everyone has been so focused on the timeline of the ones who live.

[00:44:05] What do you think the time is like with Darryl and Dead City?

[00:44:09] So I looked this up to on the Walking Dead wiki, the finale, the Walking Dead finale puts

[00:44:15] us in the summer of 2023 in universe according to the wiki.

[00:44:21] So that's after the one year time jump that we saw in the finale when we found out Zekil

[00:44:25] was the leader of the Commonwealth.

[00:44:27] Yes.

[00:44:28] The ones who live starts actually with Rick a few years earlier in spring 2019 when

[00:44:34] Rick cut off his hand and so far brings up to fall 2022.

[00:44:39] So that's about a few years into that time jump in the Walking Dead finale if this is all

[00:44:43] correct.

[00:44:44] That's where we are before we found out Zekil was ahead of Commonwealth but after that time

[00:44:51] jump or in the middle of that time jump.

[00:44:53] The Darryl show is right after the end of the Walking Dead starting in the summer of 2023

[00:44:59] and Dead City starts six years after the finale in the summer of 2029 which is kind of crazy

[00:45:05] because it means maybe Maggie knows, maybe Rick came back and Maggie knows it in Dead

[00:45:11] City but it's just they're not talking about it.

[00:45:14] It's also more interesting as well because Dead City is geographically really close to

[00:45:19] where the C.R.M. would be.

[00:45:23] So yeah but it seems like the world is still like a apocalyptic.

[00:45:29] It's not anymore organized six years later so whatever Rick does, it's not like he's

[00:45:33] the president of the United States now and they're bringing it all together.

[00:45:36] No.

[00:45:37] And it's yeah and they've not.

[00:45:39] Did they say do they mention President Rick or President Michonne in there at any point?

[00:45:43] President Rick.

[00:45:44] First lady.

[00:45:45] First lady Rick and President Michonne.

[00:45:46] It's not yet.

[00:45:49] So that is far if the if the wiki can be believed that's that's the time and how they

[00:45:54] already.

[00:45:55] It's usually pretty solid on timelines.

[00:45:57] Yeah.

[00:45:58] I don't edit it just comes which interest is close right?

[00:46:00] Don't edit the wiki.

[00:46:01] I use it a lot.

[00:46:03] Yeah yeah yeah I've used that so much in podcasting.

[00:46:07] It's great.

[00:46:08] Here is Owen from Leeds.

[00:46:10] Good afternoon people of podcasting this is Owen from Leeds in England.

[00:46:16] Yeah.

[00:46:17] Having just watched episode three of Rick and Michonne, the ones who live walking dead.

[00:46:25] I've just watched it with my one year old Delilah.

[00:46:28] I don't know if she'll have any input today but we'll see.

[00:46:33] First of all, send this before I listen to your guys.

[00:46:36] Sure.

[00:46:37] That's right.

[00:46:38] Send this before I listen to your guys.

[00:46:41] So I don't know how you know what you thought of it.

[00:46:44] I'm going to go out on a limb and say that.

[00:46:46] Oh no, that doesn't.

[00:46:48] Oh great.

[00:46:49] Lucy probably wasn't too happy with Rick's actions from what I've seen.

[00:46:56] I think quite a lot of people weren't happy.

[00:47:00] And the way I see it is yeah he was a bit.

[00:47:05] It's a bit slow either way.

[00:47:07] He's been like no you go and if you don't go you don't love me.

[00:47:15] He has done it for the right reasons.

[00:47:18] And she's obviously not appreciating the fact that she's been there two minutes.

[00:47:23] He's been there years and that's chop off his arm to try and escape and that helps nothing whatsoever.

[00:47:31] So he knows how hard it is to get away and it's practically impossible for the two of them.

[00:47:36] Although, Jardis seems to think that the two of them together are going to cause

[00:47:43] a lot of trouble.

[00:47:45] I feel like all John Locke from Lost, you know there's going to be a big showdown maybe at that meet

[00:47:52] you know we're at the summit with all the generals are we going to have a bit of world beyond in that?

[00:47:58] That's what I want to know because the lead woman in the world beyond

[00:48:02] beyond this cat remember name but Adotto was a terrible person who was trying to assist

[00:48:08] the younglings to whatever they all though we'll go in I can't remember now but I do know

[00:48:13] I enjoyed season two will be on serve people again if you haven't watched it watch it.

[00:48:17] Anyway, I'm rambling away here.

[00:48:19] My point being which I don't think I've made yet is that I don't think we really know

[00:48:24] anything yet.

[00:48:25] It's going to be very interesting.

[00:48:27] I'm excited to see what happens after they've jumped out the helicopter.

[00:48:30] I will say that I'm more enjoying the Rick side of the story than mission so far.

[00:48:36] Really enjoyed episode one episode two I could take or leave.

[00:48:40] Now that together it's obviously better but I'd have kind of been intrigued to just see Rick dealing with the CRM

[00:48:49] similar to how just watching a Darryl show and then maybe season two could have been them joining together.

[00:48:56] So there you go.

[00:48:59] I do apologize if it's been a bit of a rumble me one year old.

[00:49:06] I had fun it today so I think she's enjoyed the episode and I hope everyone within

[00:49:13] podcastica world as well thank you don't get bit.

[00:49:18] That was adorable when she's going to be a podcaster you can just tell.

[00:49:25] So cute.

[00:49:27] Thanks for calling in Owen.

[00:49:30] Oh thanks Owen.

[00:49:32] Lynn says Halo see Jason Philly local writing and to say the show isn't getting Philadelphia details correct.

[00:49:38] I love this.

[00:49:39] I can understand and forgive a lot of it its fictional show.

[00:49:42] It seemed like the consigny stuff was happening across the river in Camden New Jersey but it's hard to keep track since it's just loosely based on Philly.

[00:49:49] Nerdious nitpick they went out of their way to make general Mercer sort a big part of Beale's character.

[00:49:55] He said it was taken from the museum of the American Revolution.

[00:49:58] This museum didn't the museum didn't open until 2017 after the apocalypse started.

[00:50:04] Lynn has a source here from the American Revolution Museum press release about the sword of war general humor.

[00:50:11] I was walking down the street the day a bunch of men and kilt's had the ceremony to donate it.

[00:50:16] Keep up the good work.

[00:50:17] I've been lurking for years listening to walking dead and other podcastica coverage.

[00:50:21] Lynn that's not nobody that's cool.

[00:50:23] I love that.

[00:50:24] I love that nitpick in the world of the walking dead that museum opened in 2017 but it was the zombies opened it.

[00:50:32] That's the only difference.

[00:50:33] Yeah, yeah, so it's not as well done.

[00:50:35] That's it.

[00:50:36] Yeah, the kilt's didn't hang so well on their rot and flesh but they did it.

[00:50:40] No, I appreciate that one.

[00:50:42] Yeah, I mean I wonder if they knew and they're just like, ah we like this idea.

[00:50:46] We're just going to do it anyway.

[00:50:47] Effet.

[00:50:48] Yeah.

[00:50:50] Dina says, low Jason Lucy, the couple of exceptions political thrillers have never been a much interest to me.

[00:50:58] I love the slow burn journeyman trope all a strider in the Lord of the Rings and specific to the walking dead franchise Darryl Dixon.

[00:51:05] And I'm not sure I choose to watch the ones who live if we're not about Rick and Michonne but since it is about those two I'm watching it and I'm intrigued by the intrigue and I'm happy to let it all unfold without speculating.

[00:51:17] On the main show Rick and Michonne's partnership was solid and devoid of any forced relationship tropes that you find in a soap opera.

[00:51:24] So refreshing.

[00:51:25] Yeah, that's a good point.

[00:51:27] I like that.

[00:51:28] I sort of just took their coupling for granted so I'm really enjoying the shows deeper portrayal of their marriage that the main show didn't have time to tackle.

[00:51:35] Denyandry's acting suddenly reveals the layers and nuances of their partnership without any words needed.

[00:51:40] There's nothing forced in their portrayal of a married couple.

[00:51:44] It's like witnessing the couple next door except my neighbors don't wield swords as far as you know, you should go double check.

[00:51:53] I wasn't psyched about the first two episodes but I'm pretty much sold now looking forward to the listener feedback much love.

[00:52:01] Like that.

[00:52:02] Yeah, that's one cool thing about these spin offs.

[00:52:06] It's so weird to have a show that we love stop and splinter into fragments like this right?

[00:52:12] It is right?

[00:52:14] It is but that is one of the benefits is just getting more focus on the characters that we care the most about.

[00:52:21] Pretty cool.

[00:52:22] Give some time to breathe and expand which I think is just so valuable.

[00:52:26] Yeah, I mean I really would like to see an Aaron Gabriel show.

[00:52:31] Oh man.

[00:52:32] Well, their episode was the terminator was really good.

[00:52:36] Yeah, that's a good one.

[00:52:38] Alright, here's a couple more calls here's Kyrissa from Portland.

[00:52:42] Oh, Kyrissa.

[00:52:43] Hi Jason and Lucy.

[00:52:44] This is Kyrissa from Portland calling about the ones who live episode three by overall I loved it.

[00:52:56] Here are my thoughts in no particular order.

[00:52:59] One, I don't think Thorne has any romantic designs on Rick.

[00:53:04] I think that her feelings for him are platonic brotherly.

[00:53:07] I don't think when she says family she met like my boo.

[00:53:10] I think she meant like my brother could be wrong but I hope I'm right because I also like don't want that echinus there.

[00:53:19] I'm also really angry at Rick and his behavior towards Michonne trying to push her away not giving her agency not letting her in on what's going on so she can make a decision.

[00:53:28] With all the information, I think that he almost feel like personally up motivated him even more to stay because he knows she's safe.

[00:53:42] He knows due to the safe so I think it made him feel maybe more set in his decision and he doesn't want any new information so I think he knows that if she tries to talk to him or try to reason with him.

[00:53:56] He will want to run away again.

[00:53:59] It kind of reminds me when they were in Alexandria and I think he was hiding a gun or something and when she found out he told her he didn't tell her about it because he knew she would talk him out of whatever plan to he was trying to like drum up in Alexandria.

[00:54:16] So, whoa, she like tosses him in herself out of that helicopter? What the heck is that?

[00:54:24] I also think now I'm wondering if he knew about RJ if that would motivate him to want to go back home.

[00:54:34] I'm wondering now what that information would do to him and for him so I'm really excited about the next episode.

[00:54:42] I don't know what's happening next that's one of the things I love about this series is that it really keeps me guessing after the end of every episode.

[00:54:51] So, looking forward to the next week. Love you guys. Bye.

[00:54:59] Thanks, Grissa. We need your zombie sound by the way.

[00:55:04] Yes, you gotta do it. Gotta give us that.

[00:55:09] I like what you said about maybe Michonne getting there actually motivated him to stay even more because he sees that she's safe and hears that Judith is safe.

[00:55:20] I think there could be some truth to that. I also feel like when he and Okofur came to blows and Okofur said something about if Rick got away, he would have to go back and you know he mentioned Michonne that he'd read his letters.

[00:55:38] So I think that's when Rick realized that oh because secrets is so important to the CRM.

[00:55:44] If I leave it'll put the people I care about in danger and so that's when he said I'm in so I think that was also a turning point for him where he was just like.

[00:55:53] Alright, I'm not even gonna try to get back to them anymore because that'll put them in danger.

[00:55:57] Yeah. Yeah. I think that is probably where his thinking has gotten to.

[00:56:04] Alright, here's another call from Happy Jack.

[00:56:07] Hey Jason and Dr. Lucy. This is Happy Jack in Victoria BC just calling here with some feedback for the previous episode by.

[00:56:19] You're a hero with a shit haircut. That is a great line right up there with that episode of Dead Sea where Negan encounters those cockroaches and goes nope.

[00:56:32] Cheers guys. Bye.

[00:56:34] Oh, Happy Jack.

[00:56:37] I feel like I should watch the Negan show again because I only watched it once and I wasn't paying close attention and now I've pretty much forgotten everything that happened.

[00:56:46] I'm gonna step in and see you probably shouldn't just for your insanity.

[00:56:50] I feel like I remember being pissed off about certain parts of it for sure. Yeah.

[00:56:55] Yeah, maybe now would be a good time to revisit.

[00:56:58] Maybe I have Andy Fisher who says, dear Jason and Lucy, thank you again for paying such close attention to the story and opening up so many ideas for us in your wonderful podcast or welcome Andy.

[00:57:10] I like the ones who live very much. It's by far the best spin off of the walking dead. However, I was perplexed by Michonne.

[00:57:17] I could someone as smart as Michonne acts so stupid and reckless. How she learned nothing from Carl.

[00:57:22] Carol, not Carl, Carol.

[00:57:25] Can't you just shut the fuck up and make the casseroles?

[00:57:29] I like the way that the writers are playing with the gender roles of Rick and Michonne. Rick being more maternal focusing on the needs of his family and community and Michonne coming in guns blazing reckless and devil make care.

[00:57:42] The looks she gives him when he tells her it's over Rick you endanger.

[00:57:47] Firstly, the relationship has always been full of hard choices differences of opinions in season three. Rick traded her back to the governor knowing that she would be tortured by him in their fight with the Savior's Rick tried to appease me again while Michonne was skeptical.

[00:58:00] I wonder how this history together is affecting both of them and helping to form the choices they're making in the ones who live don't get bit.

[00:58:09] Andy, I hope the casseroles was a joke there.

[00:58:14] Yeah, I actually felt kind of offended by that to be honest. What did you say?

[00:58:19] How could someone as smart as Michonne acts so stupid and reckless? Had she learned nothing from Carol. Can't you just shut the fuck up and make the casseroles?

[00:58:26] I'm not sure what you meant by that but I mean if you're saying that it sounds like Carol should just be shutting up a cooking.

[00:58:33] It sounds like kind of a gender type of a thing so if we're not reading you right, let us know right in the let us know.

[00:58:41] Yeah, do yeah, I think Rick is definitely in danger though. I think Michonne is on the war path and I'd forgotten about season three.

[00:58:50] I'm interested to rewatch that when we do the rewatch.

[00:58:53] The kind of relationship with Michonne and the governor.

[00:58:56] Yeah, I really let her in.

[00:58:58] That's a big thing to do and to get past so yeah, I wonder how that's going to play out looking back.

[00:59:06] I just remember yeah, that Rick that the governor after Penny after Michonne killed his zombie daughter.

[00:59:14] I think his whole purpose shifted from trying to create this nice world for his zombie daughter to live in and hope that she could be brought back by his scientist Milton to I want to kill Michonne.

[00:59:27] You know for doing for you became the name.

[00:59:32] All right, double you know Bob grippie says knowing the pacing that the walking dead typically has I'm thinking season one of the ones who live will end with a fuse being lit with the lighter at or near the summit.

[00:59:45] Yes, the setting up season two because they learned the viewing numbers and JDM press statements that he was upset that season two of Dead City was announced prior to the premiere of season one.

[00:59:57] Well, see are you thinking of him being upset that they announced dead city at all before the walking dead had ended I know he was upset about that because he didn't want people to know that he survived the walking dead.

[01:00:08] But maybe it was both anyway goes on at some point Michonne will have some sort of old school sword fight with Biel while Rick battles thorn.

[01:00:16] Yeah, I could see that yeah, yeah, I can see that happening.

[01:00:19] J. Just fall on some sort of sword in an effort to help Rick and Michonne escape.

[01:00:24] I could totally see that.

[01:00:26] Think about it. If we're to their skate gets around, J. Just will get picked up and detained and never heard about again.

[01:00:31] So what alternative does she really have?

[01:00:33] The narration by Michonne was not a letter or journal entry but her speaking over her walkie talkie.

[01:00:38] I don't think you're right about that. I think.

[01:00:41] I'm waiting on her.

[01:00:43] Yeah, I think she has the walkie talkie because she'll try when she was headed back towards Judas. She tried to see if she was in range yet.

[01:00:50] But once she got out of range in the first place, that's when Nat gave her that journal and said, you know, you're out of range, but you can use this.

[01:00:58] And then we saw her writing in the journal to Judith in the finale of the walking dead.

[01:01:03] And I think every time we hear narration of her talking to Judith, it's meant to me that she's been writing it in the journal.

[01:01:11] Although when she's in the helicopter and she's saying.

[01:01:13] I think she's writing on her head.

[01:01:15] Yeah, she's like writing down. Wait, I got to write some down and then I'm going to throw us out.

[01:01:21] Yeah, just writing it in her head.

[01:01:25] He goes on the thing Rick and Michonne were punching through walkers look like a two person snow plow with weird handles.

[01:01:33] I recently rewatch Guardians of the Galaxy and our forever call Yondu blue Merrill Dixon greetings from Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada, a mere six hours east of Regina.

[01:01:45] Winnipeg! I didn't know you were from there, Bob. Cool.

[01:01:49] Yondu is pretty much just an alien, Merrill Dixon. So I had a nice sir, I would say Yondu's probably a rather hangout with you.

[01:01:57] Well, I don't know he did. I don't know if Yondu would be overtly racist.

[01:02:01] He's trying to kill the main character a few times.

[01:02:04] True, true, but he's fucking Mary Poppins.

[01:02:07] All right, here's Robin.

[01:02:13] Morning, y'all. It's me. Oh my god, this episode had me so riled up at first. I was just so beside myself.

[01:02:21] But then I come down. Rick, dude, did you really think Michonne was going to leave without you? Have you actually met Michonne?

[01:02:29] Heck her left those kids years ago for you and she has been searching and searching and she's not going to leave you.

[01:02:36] And she's not going to leave the CRM or civil republic until you go with her.

[01:02:42] So you might as well get used to it. Michonne, girlfriend, cool out, cool your jets.

[01:02:49] Stop behaving like someone who knows their shit.

[01:02:52] If the girl next to you on the wall notices it and everybody else is standing around watching your performance with slack jawed off.

[01:03:00] And you disobey Thorne's orders and push that big machine out of the rut all by yourself.

[01:03:06] And practically single handedly killed this entire hoard of walkers and saved the mission.

[01:03:12] Somebody else is going to notice if they haven't already.

[01:03:15] Although I love that scene because it reminded me a little bit of Rick and Michonne driving down the highway with the chain between the cars cutting all those zombies and half working together.

[01:03:24] It was good to see them together again.

[01:03:28] Thorne, they give her this commander rank and then they saddle her with Rick and Michonne.

[01:03:33] Like she's going to be able to control them. She might as well just throw her hands because they're not going to do what she tells them to do.

[01:03:41] The escape attempt, Rick, dude, how much time do you have by yourself with freedom unobserved that you can hide keys and find boats and find uniforms and kill a walker and do all this stuff and nobody notices it?

[01:03:57] And it surprises me a little bit that he has that much freedom.

[01:04:02] Poor Thorne, she doesn't know what to do. She's just, I don't know, she's just flailing around.

[01:04:10] And then there's Jadas. I love Jadas so much. She's so fabulous when she and Rick stand their nose to nose.

[01:04:18] I love it. And for all her menace, she knows them. She's like Rick, did you really think that Michonne was going to leave without you? I don't believe that.

[01:04:28] And earlier she says when you and Rick are when you and Michonne are together, you can do anything. She's right there.

[01:04:35] But then when she says is there something else keeping you here Rick, at first I thought she meant, you know, are you becoming a believer?

[01:04:44] Are you buying into it? Like I have. And I think he might be just a little tiny bit. I'm not really sure, although I don't know. I don't think so.

[01:04:53] But oh god, lover. She's been in love with him since the junkyard and she just can help herself. She meant am I keeping you here Rick?

[01:05:02] Excuse me. And then he just puts her down with that shit haircut. And she laughs and walks away. She'll try again.

[01:05:09] She's going to just keep trying. And I love her for that. And I, you know, I'm very curious as I'm sure everyone is about the mystical echelon briefing. What was that about?

[01:05:23] And what is the deal between Jadas and Rick? They really got me hooked on those. Anyway, it's good to talk to you. I'm sure we'll talk again. Bye y'all.

[01:05:35] I don't know for sure, but I think the deal is just that she won't tell the CRM that he has people and he will not try to get away or.

[01:05:48] Well, let them know that she's been hiding people. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

[01:05:52] I don't know if there's, if they're trying to imply that there's something else we don't know about or it's just that.

[01:05:57] Yeah. I think it's well one of the things that I was thinking about Robin is like, one of the things that annoyed me as well about the way Rick was is that Michele has sacrificed so much to get there to get him and then sending her back.

[01:06:15] It's just like, it feels disrespectful of everything that she's done. I mean, he doesn't know everything that she's done that hasn't all come out, but it is.

[01:06:24] It is kind of I can see why that would make her very angry and you know, put her on the back foot in the way that it has.

[01:06:31] Then again, he thinks that that's the only way to save her life and the lives of everyone he cares about.

[01:06:37] That is true. That is true. To me, it just a matter of course.

[01:06:42] Chris Leibov says Jason and Lucy love listening to you guys talk about this show. I also enjoyed the live reaction with Jonathan and Alex.

[01:06:49] Interesting episode. My takeaway is you can't ask Michele not to be Michele and you can't ask Rick not to be Rick.

[01:06:56] Michele is driven fierce and will not leave her man. Her children no problem, but not her Rick.

[01:07:02] Rick will do what he has to do to protect the ones he loves. I don't blame Rick for trying to send Michele away.

[01:07:07] He's in a tough bind with a creepy sexual harassing blackmailing and crap here at Virginia's. He is desperate and he thought of a way to protect Michele and the others. Give them a break.

[01:07:15] It sucks, but he is trying. He is desperate. I do think that he should have included a big and in that note and then gone on to explain that he would figure out a way to get out and protect everyone, but he needs time.

[01:07:25] Maybe if they had some sexy time and the reason in the river that we don't have made it easier for Michele to leave.

[01:07:30] Maybe Rick has a plan to play a long game with Jadis given to her demands to let her hair down after she lets it grow out.

[01:07:38] Find that folder with the info about Rick's group and then kill her or take her with him.

[01:07:43] We will never know because Michele has her own plan. First step through yourself and the one you love out of a helicopter over the cascade mountains, DB Cooper anyone.

[01:07:52] I fear they will be dead. Oh, what I'm thinking they'll be fine. Thanks guys.

[01:07:57] I had to thought put something.

[01:08:04] Oh, yeah, they need to bang it out. The sexual tensions off the scale. They need to bang out completely.

[01:08:10] I mean, I get that feeling like you know they had I don't know a few different times where they were just all over each other and it went from being so sweet to get a room guys.

[01:08:22] Come on.

[01:08:23] Yeah. Bang it out.

[01:08:25] Bang it out.

[01:08:26] Thanks Chris. That was really funny.

[01:08:31] I loved it.

[01:08:32] All right, here's a call from Morgan from Detroit.

[01:08:36] Hey guys, it's Morgan from Detroit.

[01:08:40] My husband and I watched episode three last night and oh my god we're loving every single episode so far.

[01:08:50] But this episode was so good somehow even better than the first two.

[01:08:57] I love that they can take these characters and make them do unexpected things but still make it feel so in character.

[01:09:07] And my husband and I are thirsty to know what this secret briefing is that the CRM has that just has people like getting on board.

[01:09:19] Upon hearing it, we have to know what it is.

[01:09:22] We have two theories.

[01:09:24] My husband's is that they have some sort of projection that will tell them that the world is 100% guaranteed to be overcome by the walkers unless they do X, Y and Z.

[01:09:42] And they are like the only ones that can, you know, like do X, Y and Z to save the world and bring it back from the brink.

[01:09:51] And mine is kind of similar.

[01:09:53] I think maybe like there's nukes involved or something like it has to be something so permanent and so unavoidable

[01:10:02] that only the CRM has like the tools and resources to stop or survive.

[01:10:08] And because otherwise if it's not that high stakes, how are people just getting on board with this?

[01:10:15] So I'm so curious to see if we find out next week loving the podcast of course as always with every show you Jason and Lucy guys are great.

[01:10:24] Keep up the amazing work and don't get bit.

[01:10:28] Thank you.

[01:10:29] Oh excellent. Thank you.

[01:10:31] I love that series.

[01:10:33] Yeah, interesting.

[01:10:34] Yeah, it's it is cool to have the secret waiting for us to learn, you know, the actual on briefing we better find out by the end of the season got damn it.

[01:10:44] Oh, my interest is very much peaked.

[01:10:48] Yeah, I think you're called maybe even more because I just sort of in the back of my mind thought, oh well it's stuff we already learned in world beyond but no it's got to be something big something else that we don't know yet.

[01:10:58] I bet I think so.

[01:11:00] All right Andrea Matlin says hi Jason and Lucy hope you guys are doing well.

[01:11:04] I'm doing well.

[01:11:06] Yeah, I'm doing good.

[01:11:07] How are you?

[01:11:08] I'm great.

[01:11:09] Late there. How are you? Tell us.

[01:11:10] Tell us.

[01:11:11] Get back to us and then we'll go on.

[01:11:14] This is turning into a weekly thing for me.

[01:11:16] I love listening to your thoughts first before I write in that's great.

[01:11:19] So here goes.

[01:11:20] I would have to agree with Lucy that this was my least favorite episode because of Rick the dick.

[01:11:26] I also would agree that I think Thorn has a thing for him.

[01:11:31] There's been a few times where she's gotten in his personal space that I thought, oh no you don't so I don't like her at all.

[01:11:38] Michonne was a badass in every way when she killed the walker and hit the other one with her head with the head not her head.

[01:11:45] Her fury at Rick but I did worry about her being too much of an A.

[01:11:49] When her and Rick were pushing the card it reminded me of when they drove the two cars with the wire across to get through the horde of walkers during the Savior war.

[01:11:58] It had the same vibe although when they started to make out behind the tree I was like seriously you're going to make out now.

[01:12:05] It's been a while for them.

[01:12:08] I also loved when Michonne met the artist with the phones.

[01:12:11] Michonne's face was so beautiful when she spoke to him.

[01:12:14] It was one sweet and peaceful moment in all the mess.

[01:12:17] It's frustrating to see Rick in this situation although I understand we need to see it for the story.

[01:12:23] I'm excited for next week and to see how they survive jumping off the helicopter.

[01:12:28] The show has been such an amazing return of Rick and Michonne.

[01:12:31] I'll be heartbreaking for either one of them doesn't make it.

[01:12:34] As always thank you for your bad-ass coverage.

[01:12:37] Oh thank you.

[01:12:38] Thank you.

[01:12:39] I'm hoping they make it too.

[01:12:41] Yeah don't kill him come on.

[01:12:43] Please don't.

[01:12:44] Just don't do that.

[01:12:46] That's just no one wants that.

[01:12:49] Becky Fenner Anderson says hey everyone,

[01:12:51] the ones who live episode three thoughts.

[01:12:53] I'm sure this is an unpopular opinion but I'm so glad Judas is back.

[01:12:57] She's come a long ways since her crazy towards people days.

[01:13:00] I found scenes with her and Rick to be some of the best of this episode.

[01:13:03] She's really gotten into his head which is why I think he was so quick to try to get Michonne to leave.

[01:13:08] She's a great villain and I am so excited to see how she plays into what happens later on.

[01:13:13] I laughed so hard when Rick made the comment about Jesus' hair.

[01:13:17] Really loved the art booth moments.

[01:13:19] I felt like her exchange with him about still looking for him and he sold her to hang on a little longer

[01:13:23] and gentle push to remind Michonne he's not who he was but her Rick is still in there.

[01:13:28] How Rick thought Michonne could maintain a B personality is funny.

[01:13:31] The way she attacked those walkers on the wall was amazing.

[01:13:34] I also love the side I she gave Rick.

[01:13:36] Thorin is my least favorite character, she's always so unhappy.

[01:13:39] I think she feels threatened by Michonne showing up and might even be jealous of the chemistry between Rick and Michonne.

[01:13:44] I don't know she loves Rick but she obviously feels possessive of him.

[01:13:49] I enjoy how multi-faster Rick's character is and how in one episode we get to see him happy and sad, strong and weak, scared and trusting.

[01:13:56] Michonne grabbing Rick and jumping out of the helicopter was badass.

[01:13:59] I like her taking charge because it's obvious Rick needed a push, no pun intended.

[01:14:04] This episode wasn't my favorite of the three but I do think there were some good moments that could be setting up some really good future moments if writers do it right.

[01:14:11] Until next time have a great week and weekend.

[01:14:14] Thanks Becky.

[01:14:16] One thing I've liked is that at least to some degree each episode has felt kind of distinct.

[01:14:23] And I can't really decide which is my favorite because I like them all.

[01:14:27] Maybe they're pretty close to the same for me but I like that they're so far at least distinct.

[01:14:33] Yeah.

[01:14:34] Alright here is Caitlin from South Carolina.

[01:14:37] Hi friends this is Caitlin from South Carolina.

[01:14:42] I have not called since the last episodes in the series finale season.

[01:14:48] But I have been here, I've been listening, I've been following along with all the shows and movies and the rewatch.

[01:14:57] Yay!

[01:14:58] I just often run out of time to call.

[01:15:01] I'm constantly talking back to you guys when I'm listening.

[01:15:05] Some evenings and I'm like yes I agree with and that's something I'm like no I don't agree with.

[01:15:11] I love that.

[01:15:12] So much fun and I'm so thankful for you guys and this podcast.

[01:15:17] And I'm so excited that Rick and Michonne are back and back together.

[01:15:22] Oh my heart I have just really enjoyed it and been heartbroken.

[01:15:28] A few episodes also.

[01:15:31] I've got to get better about taking notes not only when I'm watching this show but when I'm listening to your podcast

[01:15:39] because when I want to make a phone call sometimes I'm disorganized and I don't know what I want to say.

[01:15:46] I will get better at that.

[01:15:48] But the one thing I do want to say today and it has to do with what you all were saying on your recap for the third episode.

[01:15:59] You know of guessing, hoping, thinking to the future episodes the next three of if we could end up with some sort of reunion is that even possible with the schedules.

[01:16:11] And I have a hope when they were filming the finale of you know season 11 and then they made that teaser of Rick and Michonne.

[01:16:23] Angel Enkin and Deny Grera were in Atlanta while they were filming the finale episodes.

[01:16:33] So fingers crossed because they made so many of these scenes that we have now seen in the actual, the ones who live.

[01:16:43] Perhaps they took the opportunity to film scenes that would be geared for the end of the season but they did it a long time ago especially with Kaylee Fleming and the boy who plays RJ.

[01:16:57] They're growing so fast.

[01:16:59] Oh, that would be small fingers crossed. It would be really cool while all the cast was together if they could have filmed a little reunion then that's what I'm hoping for.

[01:17:10] It would be amazing it might be to wishful thinking that we would end up with such a happy ending but that's what I want and that's what I'm hoping for a lot.

[01:17:22] I mean, they've got to have they've got to have some Jerry casserole one more time right.

[01:17:29] I hope you guys have a great week.

[01:17:32] I am here for it. I'm so excited and I just in thankful for you guys tears got to see.

[01:17:41] Caitlin, I want that to be true so much.

[01:17:44] Yeah, I love the enthusiasm in your voice. That's cool.

[01:17:49] I just want someone to give Kaylee Fleming a hug.

[01:17:53] Just wanted to get a hug from her parent.

[01:17:56] I know.

[01:17:57] I think I'm the more and more and I don't know anything behind the scenes except that Gimbal has said in interviews he's been coy about whether there's more seasons.

[01:18:07] He hasn't outright said no, but other than that don't know anything by suspect there will be at least one or two more seasons and I would guess that if there are it will still be the CRM storyline like they won't go back to the Commonwealth and then have some other story.

[01:18:23] You know, I wonder if it's like they get back but the Commonwealth comes after them or something like that.

[01:18:30] I hope it's not that because you need all the other characters and then it would just be the walking dead again.

[01:18:36] Yeah, that was the case.

[01:18:38] It would just be the season 12 we never go.

[01:18:40] Yeah, which would be cool but I just don't think they're going to do that.

[01:18:43] But we'll see.

[01:18:44] We'll see.

[01:18:45] All right, Josie Bowen-Ectel says Thorn actually reminded me of Shane a bit in this episode.

[01:18:50] Yeah, they both appear to be leaders but when faced with a true A they unravel.

[01:18:54] I like that.

[01:18:55] Yeah.

[01:18:56] That's not where I thought you were going with that.

[01:18:57] They have to become sort of erratic to maintain power.

[01:19:00] Thorn appears to be threatened by Michonne and is aware Rick is affected so easily by her.

[01:19:06] I love that moment when Michonne just starts pushing the cart with all she has.

[01:19:09] Then Rick is there to half of me was stoked to see them hold hands and make out in the other half was screaming.

[01:19:15] You're going to get caught.

[01:19:17] I guess I need to stop worrying about them getting caught because it doesn't appear to be a problem in this show but I get anxious each time.

[01:19:24] No.

[01:19:26] She says also come on Rick it's cute.

[01:19:30] You think Michonne would ever agree to fleeing and leaving you there do you know her at all?

[01:19:35] Last question.

[01:19:36] I love watching a pissed off Michonne.

[01:19:40] Deny is such an incredible actor and conveys so much within her face and that chemistry between Cheney and Andy is truly electric

[01:19:47] whether it be from fury or passion.

[01:19:50] I love the shout out to Carl at the phone art stand.

[01:19:54] It hurt my heart but was so happy he was mentioned need to the artist said you're Michonne and I can't help but think that has potential to be a future problem even though he himself didn't seem like a threat.

[01:20:07] Nobody's truly buying your story Dana your bad ass or are you showing.

[01:20:12] You're bad answer.

[01:20:14] We love to see our girl kicking ass though.

[01:20:16] I think she saw Rick's record on that wall and plans to beat it.

[01:20:20] Oh is that what it is?

[01:20:21] That was Rick Ram 68 was like I've heard this in a couple podcasts now yeah I think it was the kill record and she's she beat it.

[01:20:30] She did beat it okay.

[01:20:32] Yeah thankful for this group and Jason and Lucy for encouraging such discussion and being my only true outlet for all things walking dead.

[01:20:39] I'm currently listening to season three coverage of the podcast and your mix with your current episodes and it's always the highlight of my day love you all.

[01:20:46] Well thanks.

[01:20:47] Oh I sounded a little different back in season three.

[01:20:50] Yeah.

[01:20:51] When did you do remember when you started writing in?

[01:20:57] It's.

[01:20:58] Don't know.

[01:21:00] I went to my first Walker shocker just before Jesus got introduced so that season six so probably season five or six yeah I was listening from.

[01:21:12] And to season three onwards I think and then I went back and filled in the gaps.

[01:21:17] Cool.

[01:21:18] Yeah.

[01:21:20] That was lovely thank you Josie we've got Amy.

[01:21:24] Jason and Lucy this is Amy from Brr is in Australia.

[01:21:27] Yeah, I feel Australian.

[01:21:29] I love this long time listener first time writing in I love listening to your podcast it is by far my favorite walking dead podcasts.

[01:21:36] I've seen all the shows multiple times and I'm really enjoying the ones who live episode three was a lot but brilliant.

[01:21:42] I really appreciate them taking the time to explain the phones and meet Ben Giro.

[01:21:46] And again to better understanding of why A's are so dangerous they go their own way inspire others to think for themselves and draw people to them.

[01:21:53] In the military were subservience is key I can see why Michelle in such threat.

[01:21:58] It feels so I felt so inspired by her and so frustrated at the same time.

[01:22:03] Andrew Lincoln's acting this episode was incredible his pain his fear and his sassiness another excellent episode none of my friends watch the show.

[01:22:12] And so I'm hoping to share my theory with you guys about how the series might round up.

[01:22:17] After Rick asked from Michonne's belongings in episode two I got to wondering what he will do with them.

[01:22:22] I think he kept them even though he burnt his own memories letters phones etc.

[01:22:26] I think Michonne made a sorry.

[01:22:29] Just me getting upset there and Rick will go home to Alexandria bringing back the journal introduced that Michonne had kept for Judith.

[01:22:35] I think this may be what may be why it didn't matter that Rick burnt his letters in episode one because he will be there in the end to tell his own story but Michonne won't.

[01:22:44] Oh God actually getting upset on his journey home to Alexandria I think he'll be needing help and at this point will come across Morgan and his daughter mirroring the first time they met in the walk in dead episode one when Rick was found by Morgan and Dwayne.

[01:22:59] This ties into Morgan's last fear episode where he speaks about speaks on the walkie looking for Rick grinds.

[01:23:05] I feel this could also tie into why Carol might go looking for Darryl to bring him home in the Darryl Dixon show.

[01:23:11] Carol knows Rick needs his brother and that Judith needs her Darryl dad after losing her mom.

[01:23:16] And Carol knows how important it would be to Darryl to be home and what a loss to him that Michonne would be.

[01:23:22] Anyway, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this Amy.

[01:23:25] Oh broken.

[01:23:27] I hope you roll sounds very plausible.

[01:23:30] It sounds like it's like two plausible.

[01:23:33] The kind of story that a TV writer would write versus a fan who might tend to write where everything turns out okay, you know and this is more heartbreaking.

[01:23:44] Amy give pull.

[01:23:47] It's too well written.

[01:23:49] Yeah, I like it.

[01:23:50] Gipples being very very worried that re worried.

[01:23:56] It does kind of make sense that maybe the thing to get Rick to go home would be of Michonne dies and then he feels like he needs to go home and connect with his daughter.

[01:24:08] But I think they're both going to make it out fine and it's all going to be fine.

[01:24:11] All right, I hope so.

[01:24:13] I really like about that.

[01:24:15] Amy it'll be fine.

[01:24:17] Tell us you're kidding Amy.

[01:24:19] Tell us you're kidding Amy, right?

[01:24:22] I'm going to be like.

[01:24:25] Well, by her beers.

[01:24:28] Yeah.

[01:24:29] All right, here's Gloria.

[01:24:31] Hi Jason and Lucy.

[01:24:32] Gloria from Salem.

[01:24:34] This is for episode three of one to live.

[01:24:39] Okay, Jesus, I'd rather see Jadis with this curly wig than that two short bangs.

[01:24:44] I mean what?

[01:24:46] Oh my god Christ.

[01:24:47] I think it was like a rat in a cage talking with with Jadis and she is just a little too horny.

[01:24:54] Okay, love seeing Rick and Michonne together.

[01:24:58] They can't do anything.

[01:25:00] No, Michonne don't do it.

[01:25:03] She was a boss for like five seconds.

[01:25:06] Somebody had to notice what she was using that.

[01:25:10] Oh my god, she was awesome.

[01:25:12] I did like Lauren's backstory though.

[01:25:15] Poison in the cure.

[01:25:17] Interesting.

[01:25:18] Will that come back to us?

[01:25:20] Seeing the katana in her rightful hands was awesome.

[01:25:25] Okay, that walker going through the thing, the twirly thing.

[01:25:32] That was disgusting.

[01:25:34] Okay, Rick is being an asshole and you know she's not leaving you.

[01:25:40] What was he thinking?

[01:25:43] I love Rick Grimes but seriously man.

[01:25:47] Oh my god, it was funny though.

[01:25:50] He hit a hero with a shit haircut.

[01:25:53] Oh, Michonne taking her anger out on the walk is what's pretty wicked.

[01:25:58] Awesome.

[01:25:59] Of course, Michonne doesn't look like she depends on others.

[01:26:03] Someone is right on that.

[01:26:05] Believe a little longer, a little bit longer.

[01:26:08] That was nice.

[01:26:09] Damn, I grow strong huh?

[01:26:12] Now Thorne is really pissed.

[01:26:14] All right, Rick is moving on up.

[01:26:17] Why doesn't she tell Rick about his son?

[01:26:21] I mean, she could have used that.

[01:26:24] You know like I'm not leaving without you.

[01:26:26] You have a son.

[01:26:28] Okay then, put him, pull him out of a moving helicopter instead.

[01:26:33] That's the way to end an episode.

[01:26:35] I'm telling you.

[01:26:37] Okay guys, calculate him.

[01:26:39] I read that Andrew Lincoln loved that ending.

[01:26:42] Oh no, I think it was in the...

[01:26:44] It was in the post show.

[01:26:46] Yeah he did.

[01:26:47] Yes, he absolutely did.

[01:26:49] Is this favorite ending of any walking dead episode ever or something?

[01:26:52] He seems to be very happy about it which you know it must be quite fun to film.

[01:26:56] That would be cool.

[01:26:58] All right thank you Gloria Rachel Teal Edwards from that's a name from the past.

[01:27:04] Hello Rachel.

[01:27:05] Okay Jason, I'm doubling down on my assessment from last week.

[01:27:09] If you take the basic concept of the reign of Negan and expand the world times a thousand but simultaneously focus every aspect of it until it's in high definition.

[01:27:19] The writing, the character development, the plot line, pacing and believability, the beautiful relationship, the depth of evil, you get the ones who live.

[01:27:27] And it's incredible as if the age of the saviors was the garbage rough draft and the ones who live is the perfect finalist.

[01:27:34] I like to think that as writers denying Andy thought about this and they're giving us what we all wanted back then and maybe what they wanted to.

[01:27:43] This week had me yelling at the TV, oh how I miss this.

[01:27:47] And now we're all waiting with Bated Breath for the moment when Rick, the mother fucking grimes reemerges because damn is he lost.

[01:27:54] But Michonne is not and this is what Roshone does best.

[01:27:58] They embody the concept of where I am weak you are strong.

[01:28:01] They bring each other back to reality, they ground each other and they lift each other up because they're stronger together.

[01:28:07] Jada snows it, you two together, you can do anything.

[01:28:10] Yes of course it's upsetting that Rick has lost but can we blame him?

[01:28:14] He's been beaten down and brainwashed by the CRM for years.

[01:28:17] And Michonne is trying to find him by acting like herself in ways that scare us which is the point they scare Rick too.

[01:28:26] But what else is she supposed to do and won't this all make Rick's eventual shift the reigniting of the fight within him that much more gratifying?

[01:28:35] It truly has become such a beautiful love story in such a bleak world and hot.

[01:28:40] I can't explain it but these two have so much chemistry now, I can't get enough.

[01:28:45] I'm enjoying every moment of this show because it feels like such an unexpected and indulgent treat after so many years without these two people who are so special to us.

[01:28:55] Yeah, I'm reconnecting to my love for the Walking Dead world and for this podcast and it's like coming home.

[01:29:01] Very nice to see you.

[01:29:03] I love hearing that, thank you.

[01:29:07] I think there are definitely some elements of the Savior story especially just Rick being defeated.

[01:29:16] But there's definitely also some added wrinkles to it.

[01:29:20] The CRM feels like a much different in some ways type of entity bigger for one thing and with this like ideal of reshaping bringing the world back.

[01:29:30] And also I think because of that, there is this aspect of how much is Rick actually aligning with them not just cowtowing to them but aligning.

[01:29:39] He would never align with Negan but totally cowtown.

[01:29:43] But yeah, I did similar for sure.

[01:29:45] Absolutely.

[01:29:47] Jennifer Lumbos says I think that my show was doing her best to maintain her B status at first but when she showed up at that boat so hopeful and optimistic and he wasn't there what a betrayal to everything they went through to their relationship is a betrayal to who they are who she is.

[01:30:02] She's not going to leave without even a conversation.

[01:30:05] She's not going to give up on him and that's what he loves about her and what she loves about him. He never backs down. He's always willing to fight for the ones he loves.

[01:30:13] He couldn't even face her when he told her he wasn't coming. He tells her in a note, he knows he can't look her in the eye.

[01:30:19] She has always been able to persuade him when they disagreed in the past. Sometimes she's the only person who could communicate so directly.

[01:30:28] She's baffling that he withholds critical information from her and expects her to just say, okay, Rexie, never.

[01:30:34] She is not going to let him get away with that. She's going to fight to get him back so when she goes back to the wall she is defined in her refusal to hide herself anymore.

[01:30:43] She forces him to see her to remember who they are and who she is.

[01:30:47] And as stupid as it was to jump out of the helicopter I was 100% behind her but that was one single relationship.

[01:30:53] It was made me reckless in her attic so my opinion should not be taken seriously on this matter.

[01:30:58] The only choice I didn't get quite get was the choice to disobey the order that Pearl Thorne gave.

[01:31:03] Michonne had to know that she was going to push Pearl over the edge and you have to kind of feel for Pearl right now because she's totally in the dark about what's going on and being manipulated and lied to by Rick whom she considers her only family.

[01:31:16] When she finds out who Michonne is, I have a feeling she's going to feel pretty betrayed herself.

[01:31:21] I took a deep dive into the book that General Bill gave to Rick.

[01:31:24] Samurai Jagui Menori wrote what was intended to be a private handbook to pass on to Samurai descendants about sword fighting political strategy and philosophy.

[01:31:34] It seems like Bill's entire philosophy for the CRM is straight out of that book.

[01:31:38] Authoritarian government, secrecy, sacrifice and killing for the greater good, even the government structure with the delineation between military and civilian groups.

[01:31:47] It's interesting if they've been setting this up for so long with the philosophies of the CRM aligned so well with the superficial image of the Katana queen Michonne.

[01:31:56] Hope you're both having a good week. Cannot wait for episode four. Thank you Jennifer. I think that's really interesting.

[01:32:02] I think Michonne felt she had to move the detonators so that they could complete the mission and also just because she was frustrated it being told not to do it.

[01:32:12] Also that thing of when you see someone unable to do something you know you can do.

[01:32:16] Wanting to happen, but yeah, it was a very reckless.

[01:32:19] Yeah and that's the, really that's because the other time when she was in the yard with the woman who was about to get eaten by the zombie.

[01:32:26] You have a choice there. Should I stay under the radar and let this person die or not?

[01:32:31] And I don't blame her for not. But on this mission, I think if she had just held back then maybe they wouldn't have succeeded in their mission,

[01:32:39] but hopefully they're at least capable enough to not get themselves killed and they can just get out of there.

[01:32:44] Yeah, but I mean that's minor. I think I yeah, I don't get why people are upset at Michonne honestly.

[01:32:53] But that was very well written man. We got some really great writers among you guys. I appreciate you guys writing it.

[01:33:00] I was brilliant, especially loved what you said about that book. I'm glad you did that research and it sounds like maybe Scott Gimbal read that book and was like, oh we should make a society based on these ideals.

[01:33:13] And that's where the CRM came from. If so, I'm kind of glad that there's like a real world reference to that because sometimes I have trouble believing that CRM that a group like that could exist.

[01:33:23] But if there's some book that has these philosophies in it that makes it a little easier to swallow.

[01:33:29] All right, we got two more calls one from Sam from Boston.

[01:33:33] So the episode was called by but it could have been called stress.

[01:33:38] Oh my gosh, this the show is so good. I don't know why Gimbal constantly looks sad and scared at those after scenes.

[01:33:47] Like, sir you did a great job. Someone gives Gimbal a hug here. He did a good job.

[01:33:53] But I mean, any show that can make me feel something. I mean, that's amazing. It connects me to the humanity of it.

[01:34:00] Strix stress me the fuck out for like 50 minutes straight just constantly bad decisions and it's like every time him and Michonne make eyes in public, I'm like, don't do that.

[01:34:12] Because we know there's no forgiveness of the CRM. Like I thought in the beginning he made a really like impulsive decision to leave and sir, we know what happens when you act on impulse to escape the CRM.

[01:34:23] You only got one more hand left but it turns out he's trying to get Michonne to leave without him which is almost as dumb.

[01:34:30] And I like I did like that the writing and the acting and the scene after that.

[01:34:36] Michonne like roaps off his helmet and like, you know he tries to justify why he did it. And Michonne reacts to him the same way I react when flat earthers try to convince me that the earth isn't round.

[01:34:49] It's like, I'm not even going to give you words my time or my energy. I'm just going to give you a look so you know how I feel and then walk away.

[01:34:58] But of course, Denygerara does it amazing and way better than I ever could.

[01:35:03] And then like afterwards what Rick was like doubling doubt on it she'd say anything again she just goes and hauls him out of the helicopter.

[01:35:12] I'm like that's right, ma'am he needs a time out he totally deserve that and I will take the suspension of disbelief he needed to just stop.

[01:35:21] I did like that scene with Michonne Rick and Thorn which also stressed me out.

[01:35:27] But like that that one time when you know Thorn kept pushing her like why did you save him? Why did you save him?

[01:35:32] She was going to say because he's cute like he's hot I was by myself, you know, like no one will tap that you know that's why we keep making eyes at each other that everyone can see.

[01:35:44] And then Thorn by the way is just stressing me out as well like she keeps saying I'm not okay for I don't believe in everything.

[01:35:51] Okay for believed it and I'm like what do you guys think be told her that Okaford didn't believe in that she does and I don't know I'm really suspicious on that and

[01:36:01] Jadis ma'am I is not being the female Negan doesn't matter what gender does it keep your hands to yourself unless you're invited to.

[01:36:11] Yeah fair.

[01:36:14] Yeah I feel like we haven't really talked that much about Thorn and we're not going to right now but I feel like maybe we should at some point because you know she's not really totally hitting as a character but

[01:36:29] I feel like other people are feel more hard on her than I do and I don't quite get what is the keep re going over her origin and everything I feel like we're supposed to be getting something from her but anyway we're going kind of long so just stick a pin in that.

[01:36:47] Yeah compared to that one.

[01:36:50] Alright when we're call from Ann Winn.

[01:36:53] Hi Jason and Lucy it's Ann Winn here. I guess you guys have been missing out on some live steves because he's on a cruise in New Zealand apparently and I'm actually at the pub and I'm here with actual live Steve.

[01:37:06] No way!

[01:37:08] We're in the pub with we're in the pub in Port Chalmers which is near Dunedin which is where Onwim lives and we're having a little drink we had a little bar food my sister and I

[01:37:17] and we're enjoying this cruise really really a lot. I cannot wait to get caught up on the ones who leave right now the ones who live that's what it's called this Rick and Michelle are very excited.

[01:37:28] I don't leave. I can't wait to see it. I can't wait to see them live steves for the episode. I don't know when I'll get back and be able to catch up but thanks so much for listening and this is Steve.

[01:37:37] Yay oh my god I can't believe I actually met a Z. This is the best. Now everybody else has to come to New Zealand please.

[01:37:43] The only feedback I've got about the last episode was there were so many endings it was almost like Lord of the Rings.

[01:37:49] I'm not going to give anything else away because Steve's right here and he has not seen it. Thanks guys bye!

[01:37:54] Bye!

[01:37:56] Steve Rick cuts off his hand.

[01:37:58] I love that!

[01:38:01] Oh my god I'm so jealous but also amazing.

[01:38:05] That's the first time Onwim's met any of the Z. heads.

[01:38:10] He has met two of my friends though.

[01:38:12] That's right.

[01:38:13] Yeah weirdly yeah she's met like extended Z from but not direct.

[01:38:19] I'm jealous too. I want to get out there at some point.

[01:38:23] Oh we're going to do it. It's going to happen.

[01:38:25] I need to tell Jenny let's just pick a year that'll be a first step.

[01:38:30] Yeah yeah just pick a year and stick to it.

[01:38:41] So now we're going to get in.

[01:38:59] Obvious threat to untold numbers of citizens.

[01:39:05] Are they slow moving Chief.

[01:39:07] Oh messed up.

[01:39:08] This is a logging deadcast news update.

[01:39:11] All right, tvline.com talked with Scott Kimple, the fearless leader.

[01:39:18] They said, is there any chance we'll get a second season of the ones who live?

[01:39:21] People are always hungry for more rick rimes.

[01:39:24] He said, I think it's one of those never say never situations, but I also don't want to

[01:39:28] tell people how the story ends.

[01:39:29] So who knows?

[01:39:31] Maybe after seeing the end you'll be like, oh yeah, they can't do another one because of

[01:39:35] X, Y and Z.

[01:39:37] I think as much as we've criticized him for being opaque that he's doing the right thing

[01:39:42] because as we said, we already got mad when they would reveal things.

[01:39:46] You know what I mean?

[01:39:47] Yeah, no, he's, I think he's had some, I don't know, press coaching.

[01:39:52] He's been less annoying this time, right?

[01:39:56] I mean, yeah, but it does seem like if there wasn't going to be a second season then

[01:40:01] he would just be like, no, probably not.

[01:40:03] So yeah, I think I, someone pointed out something funny for those who are going to rewatch

[01:40:09] episodes with three apparently the portraits on Ben Shearers phones.

[01:40:14] There's a gimpal.

[01:40:15] Oh nice.

[01:40:16] I like that.

[01:40:17] Yeah, I was like, oh, that's fun because you're quite distinctive looking dude.

[01:40:21] So yeah, I'm going to go back and try and spot it.

[01:40:24] I got to check that out.

[01:40:25] You know, it could either be that he doesn't want to say there's going to be one because

[01:40:30] he doesn't want to give it away or maybe Rick and or Michonne die and he doesn't want

[01:40:36] to say, yeah, there will be no season two because the hero, the main characters will be dead.

[01:40:41] You know, that's terrible.

[01:40:45] No, that's very terrible.

[01:40:49] Very terrible.

[01:40:50] Why would you say that?

[01:40:52] I'm sorry, it's just probably going to happen.

[01:40:54] That's the only reason why I said it.

[01:40:57] He says, do you see yourself steering the dead ship forever or will you want to move

[01:41:02] on to other projects eventually?

[01:41:04] He says, I'd love to keep doing walking dead stuff.

[01:41:07] I want to do other things along the way too.

[01:41:09] What's funny is I'm working on other non-walking dead things but with walking dead people.

[01:41:15] I won't go deep into it, but one of the things is a straight up comedy with one of the dead

[01:41:19] cast members that were working on for one of the streamers.

[01:41:24] That's interesting.

[01:41:26] I don't know.

[01:41:27] Gimbal doing a comedy, that's so weird.

[01:41:30] Yeah.

[01:41:33] They said, what else is on your dead bucket list?

[01:41:36] He said, I really want to use more walking dead characters and have them in different situations

[01:41:41] and configurations.

[01:41:43] That's always my dream of using more of these characters.

[01:41:46] You look at the last issue of the comic, the world that Robert Kirkman built with screaming

[01:41:50] for TV treatment.

[01:41:52] We say that to Robert all the time.

[01:41:54] I also get really excited about the idea of doing stuff in this world that's completely

[01:41:57] unrelated to anything.

[01:41:59] And then we have these three pretty direct spin-off shows, Dead City, Deltics and then

[01:42:04] The One Who Live.

[01:42:05] I dream of having these characters together again.

[01:42:07] I plant those seeds and I hope that I get a chance to do that.

[01:42:10] That would be wonderful.

[01:42:16] Collider.com also interviewed Scott Gimbal.

[01:42:19] They said, Andrew Lincoln and Nygerir listed its co-creators of this series.

[01:42:23] What exactly does that mean as far as their involvement?

[01:42:26] How close are you working before, during and after with them?

[01:42:30] He said with Andy and Annie it was entirely the entirety of the whole thing.

[01:42:35] The three of us were working before anyone else was.

[01:42:38] We were meeting for hours at a time in New York and hours at a time in Atlanta.

[01:42:42] What the structure of the season wound up being is what we worked out in those conference

[01:42:46] rooms.

[01:42:47] Every aspect of this show, the budgeting, the scheduling, the staffing, all of it went

[01:42:50] through them.

[01:42:51] We divvied up some of the work and they would handle certain things and I would handle certain

[01:42:55] things.

[01:42:56] Deny wrote episode four, but also in a lot of ways she show ran episode four.

[01:43:00] I was more of a support.

[01:43:02] I really wanted her to fulfill her vision and start to finish.

[01:43:06] When we actually could get into post, we were all in post.

[01:43:09] Sometimes I'd let Andy take a crack at thing.

[01:43:11] Sometimes I'd let Deny take a crack at thing.

[01:43:13] Sometimes I'd come in after or before.

[01:43:14] We worked on the marketing stuff together around the gamut through the whole thing.

[01:43:19] It was not a vanity credit.

[01:43:21] When they say showrunners Scott Gimpole, we were more of a band on this one.

[01:43:24] I carried a lot of the responsibility but they were all over this thing in every way.

[01:43:28] It was a lot more like a band.

[01:43:30] That's kind of cool.

[01:43:31] I love that.

[01:43:32] Maybe that's why it's so good because it's collaboration.

[01:43:36] Yeah, seriously.

[01:43:37] Because he's got great instincts but he needs to be balanced out.

[01:43:40] And I was thinking about this a lot as well because we've had discussions over the

[01:43:45] years about actors getting involved in their characters and trying to drive the story

[01:43:51] one way or another.

[01:43:53] And I really do think with this, that's been a good thing.

[01:43:56] I think having the actors involved has really improved it.

[01:44:00] And I think maybe them having had a break from the characters for so long has been beneficial

[01:44:04] in that respect.

[01:44:05] So yeah, I can't have had a moment today where I was like, I wonder what this would have

[01:44:10] been like as a film.

[01:44:13] I'm glad that they went the way they did.

[01:44:15] Yeah, it's good.

[01:44:16] And I think when Angela came on, one of the things she did was go to a bunch of the actors

[01:44:22] and ask them what they'd like to see for their characters and try to...

[01:44:25] Like, I think that's why Darryl had a dog.

[01:44:27] You know?

[01:44:28] Best character.

[01:44:29] Yeah.

[01:44:30] So he learned a lesson from that.

[01:44:31] Yeah.

[01:44:33] They said you've been involved with all the series but what made you want to be the

[01:44:37] show runner on this one specifically?

[01:44:40] He said it's because we knew we were all going to work together on it and Andy and

[01:44:43] not Andy and Denai told me to.

[01:44:46] That was a big part of it.

[01:44:47] Even though this was an official collaboration, we've been very collaborative all along the

[01:44:51] way.

[01:44:52] Granted, I was hardcore about a lot of things sometimes which is good.

[01:44:55] You know what someone with a strong vision?

[01:44:57] But it was always a conversation and a lot of ideas flowed from them on the show so it

[01:45:02] seemed like the best way.

[01:45:04] They wanted to do that.

[01:45:05] They wanted that creative involvement in coming back.

[01:45:07] You know these characters so well.

[01:45:09] They've done this so long the way they saw it to do this was to do it together.

[01:45:13] Oh, that's nice.

[01:45:15] Yeah, yeah.

[01:45:16] I like this.

[01:45:17] They said, do you see this series as discovering new layers of the characters or do you

[01:45:21] see it as digging deeper into what we already know of the characters?

[01:45:25] He says both of the characters are facing something that they haven't faced.

[01:45:29] A lot of time has gone by and they're associated with different people in different situations.

[01:45:33] These characters are different in a lot of ways.

[01:45:35] There are different layers to them because they're facing situations that they just haven't

[01:45:39] faced before.

[01:45:40] Situation sounds so transitory but they're facing years of things that they haven't faced

[01:45:44] before and that changes you.

[01:45:46] They're not at home.

[01:45:47] They're not among their people.

[01:45:48] When we meet them, they're different.

[01:45:50] Kind of like that.

[01:45:52] Yeah.

[01:45:53] They said, I love Paulie and a Macintosh in this.

[01:45:58] What would you say about her character and what we can expect from Jades?

[01:46:04] She said, she's amazing in this.

[01:46:06] I don't want to give anything away.

[01:46:08] She's always been a bit of a trickster character and she's always had a bit of theater to her.

[01:46:12] She's always been an incredible pragmatist.

[01:46:15] We see a very powerful Jades in this.

[01:46:17] She's scary.

[01:46:18] She's funny.

[01:46:19] She's imposing and you'll see more where she goes with her performance is unbelievable.

[01:46:24] We gave Paulie and a really challenging work to do and she knocked it out of the park.

[01:46:28] We're so lucky to get her.

[01:46:30] They said, I love the humor she also brings with the crack about her haircut.

[01:46:35] He says the fact that Andy got to crack a joke he was so happy.

[01:46:39] Yeah, Rick doesn't often get a funny line.

[01:46:44] When he does it, it lands very well.

[01:46:47] That one, like, it fits in his character because we've seen him be a little sassy like

[01:46:55] that before but it's rare.

[01:46:59] They said, obviously the walkers are always a threat but there's also always some other

[01:47:03] type of villain that's ready to just bring the whole thing down.

[01:47:07] How does that work into this series?

[01:47:09] He said the villains in the show are very complex.

[01:47:11] They're different from the villains that we've seen before.

[01:47:13] All our bads have had their reasons for the most part but the reasons that these people

[01:47:17] have and the success that they've had and the system they work under makes it a very complex

[01:47:22] thing as far as what they do and how they think.

[01:47:25] I don't want to co-sign on anything they do but I think the reasons laid out are incredibly

[01:47:28] serious reasons and I'm curious what the audience will think.

[01:47:32] It's the thing that can give people power good and bad, it can twist them to do things

[01:47:37] they would never do.

[01:47:38] It also could have them become the best most powerful versions of themselves.

[01:47:42] Sometimes it's a little above.

[01:47:43] That's one of the things I absolutely love about this universe.

[01:47:47] That felt a little opaque but I still like it.

[01:47:51] I think basically it's like saying they have some understandable motivations but then

[01:47:59] when they have all these power and resources it might end up doing things that aren't so

[01:48:04] great.

[01:48:06] I think I agree with your reading of that.

[01:48:09] It's hard to say something.

[01:48:12] I think I always get dimple comprehension fatigue where I'm like what does he mean?

[01:48:16] I don't understand.

[01:48:18] That's about enough for today.

[01:48:20] I'm going to go and look into space and think deeply for a while and be like but what

[01:48:25] did he mean?

[01:48:26] What was he talking about?

[01:48:28] One more thing I was glad to see our friend Eric Kane over at Forbes is digging the ones

[01:48:34] who live.

[01:48:35] He was, I read an article of his beforehand and he seemed very dubious.

[01:48:40] Oh I mean speaking of fatigue.

[01:48:43] Eric covered all of fear.

[01:48:46] We were talking about this in the car because Peter said the same thing.

[01:48:50] He's like oh Eric Kane seemed to like this but I'm like yeah it's to be fear of anyone

[01:48:53] in the world.

[01:48:54] He has the most right to be fatigued by this universe because he covered all of it whereas

[01:48:58] we opt today.

[01:48:59] So if you haven't been following us the whole time by the way, Eric Kane is a critic at Forbes

[01:49:06] and he did the most delightful reviews of Fear the Walking Dead where he still good.

[01:49:11] There were no holds barred and he was just so fun to read and so we asked him to come on

[01:49:17] and talk about the finale with us and it was a lot of fun and we loved having him on.

[01:49:23] But about the ones who live in his review episode three he wrote I just wish it didn't have

[01:49:28] such a silly title because it really has been quite good so far that's actually about

[01:49:32] the show in general.

[01:49:33] He doesn't like the title of the ones who live.

[01:49:35] And then about the line you're a hero with a shit haircut he said I laughed out loud.

[01:49:38] That was genuinely the funniest line in a Walking Dead show in ages.

[01:49:44] So I'm glad he's digging it.

[01:49:46] Alright that is our show episode 570 thanks so much for listening to everybody.

[01:49:58] Next episode the Walking Dead, the ones who live season 1 episode 4 what we written by

[01:50:03] tonight career.

[01:50:04] I'm so excited.

[01:50:08] If you want to write in or leave us a voice message about it you can find all our contact

[01:50:12] information at podcastka.com.

[01:50:15] Check out some of our other podcasts while you're there on Run for Your Lives.

[01:50:18] Peking Daphne have covered the Belko experiment recently.

[01:50:24] That's a great movie, it's a dark movie, it's kind of a squid game like movie and Michael

[01:50:30] Rooker's in the cast.

[01:50:32] Oh really?

[01:50:33] Okay.

[01:50:34] It was written by James Gunn who directed the Guardians of Galaxy movies so that's a good one.

[01:50:40] Nice.

[01:50:41] This will cover Sharknado which is a very bad movie.

[01:50:45] Is so bad it's good though right?

[01:50:47] Yeah I guess that's what people think.

[01:50:50] Or is it just bad?

[01:50:51] I need to see Sharknado.

[01:50:53] It's Shark's flying through the air and killing people.

[01:50:56] We've all been there.

[01:50:58] This episode was made possible by Patreon supporters like Susan Spalding who pledged their

[01:51:02] support at patreon.com slash Jason Gabbassie.

[01:51:05] So thank you so much to Susan and everyone else who's been pledging on Patreon.

[01:51:09] I appreciate it very much.

[01:51:11] All right that is our show.

[01:51:14] Thanks for listening.

[01:51:15] Don't get bit-witch-al-teal edwards.

[01:51:19] And now for the echelon briefing.

[01:51:22] I forgot to mention that we would have, it's even more secret than ever because we're

[01:51:27] springing it on you right now but we're doing an echelon briefing because we had a couple

[01:51:31] of messages that might be considered a little bit spoilery so if you don't want to be spoiled

[01:51:36] on anything that happened in the world beyond or one is about, he watched the scenes from

[01:51:43] next week and has predictions on that so that's how that was spoilery.

[01:51:47] So do I want to read the first one?

[01:51:49] Yeah our first one is Kasia who says this is spoiled thoughts from world beyond.

[01:51:55] Please keep up the after episode spoilers.

[01:51:57] I really love the world beyond and appreciate the new discussion.

[01:52:00] Oh thank you Kasia.

[01:52:02] I believe the murder of Omaha was in part to keep the CRM in power and the civic republic

[01:52:06] down.

[01:52:07] Dictators throughout history have created crises to hold on to power.

[01:52:11] I wonder if we will see General Biel's son again yeah and if Hope and Iris had any lasting

[01:52:16] impact maybe they left out that his father is an evil man.

[01:52:21] I want to see Cyrus again as a full CRM soldier, maybe he can help Rick and Michonne leave.

[01:52:26] The cascade base is to run the operation to kill all of Portland.

[01:52:31] Yeah right.

[01:52:34] Kasia you're smart I like this yeah.

[01:52:40] I'm guessing we won't see anybody from world beyond but could be wrong.

[01:52:45] Yeah yeah I would like to see sideless again though.

[01:52:50] I just think it's weird that they're treating the fact that Omaha was destroyed by the CRM.

[01:52:59] They're not revealing that in the ones who live and it feels like that would be kind

[01:53:03] of a twist.

[01:53:04] I have already said this anyway, it's so weird.

[01:53:07] Alright.

[01:53:08] It is weird though.

[01:53:09] Yeah it is weird.

[01:53:10] Okay let's...

[01:53:11] Did she say anything else that I wanted to?

[01:53:15] She said I believe the murder of Omaha was in part to keep the CRM in power and the civil

[01:53:19] republic, the civic republic down just like because less civilian story about or just

[01:53:26] to show a force or something.

[01:53:28] Creating a...

[01:53:29] No, the civic republic didn't know that the CRM did it though.

[01:53:31] Yeah I was just creating this fear in the world.

[01:53:34] Yeah there's a fear you need us to protect you otherwise things like this will happen.

[01:53:38] Yeah.

[01:53:39] Point.

[01:53:40] Okay and then one more message from Rob says hey all Rob from LA and I can't believe I've

[01:53:46] been listening to you guys since 2010.

[01:53:49] That's a long time.

[01:53:50] It's when you started.

[01:53:51] When I started.

[01:53:52] Anyway loving the ones who live more than any of the other spinoffs, some of the best material

[01:53:57] since the early days of the main show, I was starting to forget how much this was Rick

[01:54:01] and Carl's story.

[01:54:02] Yeah.

[01:54:03] Yeah it's so great to have Rick back.

[01:54:05] Anyway jumping straight into predictions about where our narrative is going, I think Carl

[01:54:09] still alive.

[01:54:10] No he didn't really say that.

[01:54:12] He said Rick and his show uncover an abandoned CRM base with evidence of human experiment

[01:54:19] adaptation.

[01:54:20] I guess this is in scenes from next week.

[01:54:22] We hear the line in the trailer what is this place and there are some reinforced windows

[01:54:26] often seen in jails and hospitals.

[01:54:29] Maybe we will see a heat zombie.

[01:54:31] Also the skizzin between Rick and Thorne will continue to grow after all she didn't share

[01:54:36] all the same beliefs as Okafor.

[01:54:38] They both start their careers together but are like siblings who join opposite sides

[01:54:43] in a war.

[01:54:44] They'll eventually tussle and Rick will be shot across the brow before Thorne lowers

[01:54:48] her weapon.

[01:54:49] In a reversal Rick then dispatches her instantly.

[01:54:53] There must be a reason for hearing Thorne's story repeatedly to not have some path.

[01:54:57] I think Rick will uncover something damning on Jadas that he'll use as leverage to escape.

[01:55:04] What would that be?

[01:55:05] I'm trying to take something to do with her haircut.

[01:55:08] But before leaving Michonne she will most certainly come to blows in a match of blades with

[01:55:13] our other silver fox, Bill.

[01:55:15] Jadas and Bill will live on for season two.

[01:55:18] Sorry for all the bad fan fiction but there are certainly laying some breadcrumbs for future

[01:55:22] events.

[01:55:23] Please nobody put money on any of my theories though.

[01:55:25] Anyway thanks for all the great conversation and can't wait for more.

[01:55:29] I could see some of that coming true for sure.

[01:55:31] Yeah I don't think that's silly at all.

[01:55:33] I like that.

[01:55:34] Yeah right in more robe.

[01:55:35] I want to hear more.

[01:55:36] I want to hear more from your thoughts.

[01:55:38] Make it crazier.

[01:55:39] Yeah make it ten times more crazy.
